REVIEW: BRETT: Bad Boys After Dark is the fourth and final instalment in Melissa Foster’s contemporary, adult BAD BOYS AFTER DARK erotic, romance series focusing on the Bad Brothers-Mick, Dylan, Carson and Brett. This is security specialist Brett Bad, and legal assistant Sophie Roberts’ story line. BRETT: Bad Boys After Dark can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information form the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Brett and Sophie) BRETT: Bad Boys After Dark follows the building romance between security specialist Brett Bad, and his brother Mick’s legal assistant Sophie Roberts. For months Brett has been secretly pining after Sophie Roberts but our hero doesn’t do relationships, a one night stand kinda man but a man who is haunted by memories of the past. Believing himself not worthy of love, Brett will push away the woman with whom he is falling in love in the hopes of not repeating the disaster that was his parent’s relationship. What ensues is Brett’s pursuit of Sophie Roberts, and the potential fall-out as Brett struggles with memories from the past, the loss of his sister, and the battle between head and heart as it pertains to the man who abandoned his wife and family years before.

The relationship between Brett and Sophie is one of mutual attraction but Brett’s reputation precedes his introduction to our story line heroine. Always keeping Brett at a distance Sophie knows that to fall in love means heartbreak further down the road. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Brett’s brothers and their significant others. We are introduced to Sophie’s best friend Grace Montgomery, whose story line is next EMBRACING HER HEART- in the series spin-off The Montgomerys.
