A yearning that won’t be denied
Rachel Marek is a journalist with a plan. She intends to expose the truth about dragons to the world – and her target is within sight. Nothing matters but getting the truth, especially not the ruggedly handsome, roguishly thrilling Highlander who oozes danger and charm. And when she finds the truth that shatters her faith, she’ll have to trust her heart to the very man who can crush it…
A legend in the flesh
Suave, dashing Asher is more than just a man. He’s a Dragon King – a being who has roamed this planet since the beginning of time. With everything on the line, Asher must choose to trust an enemy in the form of an all too alluring woman whose tenacity and passion captivate him. Together, Asher and Rachel must fight for their lives – and their love – before an old enemy destroys them both

REVIEW: DRAGON FEVER by Donna Grant is the latest novella (July 2016) in her contemporary, adult DARK KINGS paranormal romance series, and the latest installment in the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights series. This is Dragon King Asher, and journalist Rachel Marek’s story line. DRAGON FEVER can be read as a stand alone but for cohesion and backstory I recommend reading the series in order as there is a continuing theme and building story line throughout.
SOME BACKGROUND: The DARK KINGS is a spinoff from Donna Grant’s DARK WARRIOR series which in turn is a spin off from Donna’s DARK SWORD series- all set in the Highlands of Scotland. The Dark Fae and their King Taraeth, along with the Ulrik the Silver Dragon King and his uncle Mikkel have declared war on the Dragon Kings by exposing the dragon’s existence to humankind. The last wars between man and the world of the paranormal saw a great loss of life on all sides-but Ulrik wants revenge against King Constantine of the Dragon Kings.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Asher and Rachel) DRAGON FEVER follows journalist Rachel Marek as she endeavors to uncover the truth about the existence of dragons and their connection to the Dreagan Whiskey Distillery. With the release of a video that shows several dragons shifting during battle, our heroine has been diligently searching for proof and Asher is the man of the hour. But someone else is pulling the strings behind the scenes, and Rachel is unaware of the connection to Dreagan and the Dragon Kings.
DRAGON FEVER is a story of betrayal, intrigue and romance. Asher believes he has found him mate in the woman who pretends to be someone else. Their relationship is very quick to develop as our heroine sets out to seduce the story line hero. The $ex scenes are provocative and intense. DRAGON FEVER is a compelling story that reveals a little more information about Ulrik and his Silver Dragons- Con and his Dragon Kings are about to face an even bigger battle. The premise is imaginative; the characters are intelligent and dynamic; the romance is fated and fast.

“Is it true you’re a dragon?” one reporter asked.
Another yelled, “Shift for us.”
They had no idea how much he wanted to do just that, if for no other reason than to get everyone out of his face. Instead, he put on a serene expression, buttoned his jacket and gave a nod to a few spectators lined up along the entrance as he walked in.
Once inside the centre, there was no time to relax. Ms. Engel was right on his heels, directing where he was headed and giving him names of those he would be meeting.
He stopped outside of the closed doors of the room.
“Is something wrong, sir?” Ms. Engel asked.
“For one, my name is Asher, not sir.”
She held up a finger to stop him. “Mr. Constantine also tried to tell me the same thing. I work for Dreagan and whoever represents the company at the WWC. While here, you’ll always be ‘sir.’”
Asher could accept that. Blossom was beginning to grow on him. She might be a miniature drill sergeant, but she was damn good at her job. No wonder Con used her year after year.
He drew in a breath and released it as he looked behind them. “Is it always so…” He waved his hand around, looking for the right word.
“Crazy? Insane? Nearly fanatical?”
He nodded. “Yes.”
“Only when Dreagan is here.” Ms. Engel put the cap on her pen. “Before TVL, everyone just wanted a glimpse of those who were a part of Dreagan and get a taste of the whisky. After TVL, well, now they want to see what might happen.”
“TVL?” he asked, sorting through all sorts of words she might mean.
“The Video Leak.”
“Ah.” Well, that made sense. He turned his attention to her. “Did you see the video?”
“Of course.”
When she said nothing further, he asked, “What did you think?”
“It doesn’t matter, sir.”
Donna Grant is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the sizzling Dark King series featuring dragons, immortal Highlanders, and the Fae.
She was born and raised in Texas but loves to travel. Her adventures have taken her throughout the United States as well as to Jamaica, Mexico, and Scotland. Growing up on the Texas/Louisiana border, Donna’s Cajun side of the family taught her the “spicy” side of life while her Texas roots gave her two-steppin’ and bareback riding.
Despite deadlines and voracious reading, Donna still manages to keep up with her two children, four cats, and one long haired Chihuahua.
