ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 4, 2021.

A house hidden in the middle of nowhere.
A man who’s lived alone for a decade.
A woman who trespasses on his solitude.
A love full of hate as well as hunger.

The thing about my life is…I was never in control of it.
I just I thought I was.
I thought I had everything figured out—a good career, fun hobbies, a bright future, but everything changed when I found an ivy-cloaked house, tucked in a forgotten valley, hiding a man who corrupted my world forever.
I thought I was successful, until he showed me fortune and happiness could be snatched away in an instant.
I believed I was blessed, but really, I was cursed.
Cursed to become a plaything for a monster.
Cursed to become a prisoner just because I trespassed.
Now, I know nothing.
I am nothing.
I’m just his.

REVIEW: FABLE OF HAPPINESS is the first instalment in Pepper Winters’ contemporary, adult FABLE erotic, dark romance series focusing on Kassen, a broken recluse, and professional rock climber, twenty six year old, Gemma Ashcroft.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line content, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Kassen and Gemma) using present day and memories from the past, FABLE OF HAPPINESS follows professional rock climber Gemma Ashcroft as she stumbles across an online link beckoning her to Mammoth Cave National Park, Kentucky. Setting out on her own, with no back up or support, our heroine begins a journey that takes her to an abandoned mansion hidden in the mountains of Kentucky, a mansion that is otherwise occupied by one monster of a tenant. Enter Kassen, a reclusive, broken and abused man who sees Gemma as nothing more than a plaything; a prisoner; a target for his primeval, baser and vile needs but Gemma isn’t about to go down easily, and makes Kassen an offer in exchange for her life. What ensues is the dark and dangerous game of cat and mouse, as Kassen refuses to let go of the only human contact he has had in close to eleven years.

FABLE OF HAPPINESS covers approximately three days in the life of our story line heroine who has found herself in a precarious, dangerous and tragic circumstance. Gemma is a strong, adventurous female lead who suspects there is more to her captor than anyone could have ever imagined, and in this, Gemma struggles to maintain some semblance of normalcy in an otherwise profoundly life threatening, cruel and dire situation. Kassen has long buried his past but Gemma’s intrusion and invasion into his life threatens Kassen’s hold on his memories and his pain, memories that reinforce the reason for his isolation and anti-social behavior. The premise is raw, dark and gritty; the characters are flawed, broken yet fighting to survive. FABLE OF HAPPINESS ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
