REVIEW: GHOST OF A CHANCE is the seventh instalment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult WILDE WAYS erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women of Wilde Ways security. This is former government assassin James ‘Ghost’ Smith, and ER physician Tess Barrett’s story line. GHOST OF A CHANCE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from several third person perspectives including James and Tess GHOST OF A CHANCE follows the building relationship between former US government assassin James ‘Ghost’ Smith, and ER physician Tess Barrett. A night out with friends finds Tess Barrett in the arms of a stranger, a stranger of who she cannot get out of her mind but a home invasion leaves Tess angry and scared, pushing our heroine towards the man with whom she would fall in love. Enter former US assassin James ‘Ghost’ Smith. What ensues is the building but reluctant relationship between Tess and James, and the potential fall-out as one or both are targeted by demons of the past.

Tess Barrett keeps secrets her tormented past. Homeless and alone, our heroine finds herself facing a nightmare only to discover that the nightmare continues for the rest of her life. James Smith knows that the truth about his past will destroy any hopes of a relationship with Dr. Tess Barrett, but it is his past that is trying to destroy them all.

The relationship between Tess and James begins as an almost one-night stand. James is desperate to uncover the truth about Dr. Tess Barrett but in doing so discovers that all is not well in her well-ordered life. Keeping Tess safe and protected will pull the Wilde Ways Security Team into his life but James battles between head and heart when it comes to protecting the woman he loves.The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to several of the Wilde Ways Security team members: Wesley Cade, Linc Dalton and Blair Kincaid, as well as doctors Devin Goddard, Latonya Wilson, and nurse Marilyn Montgomery; James’ assistant Barnes. The requisite evil has many faces. Linc and Blair’s story is next in Crossing the Line.

GHOST OF A CHANCE is a story of betrayal, vengeance, acceptance and love. The premise is intriguing and engaging; the characters are colorful and energetic; the romance is passionate and seductive. GHOST OF A CHANCE is another wonderful addition to Cynthia Eden’s WILDE WAYS romantic suspense series.
