REVIEW:VENGEFUL UNION is the sixth instalment in Brooke Summers’ contemporary, adult MADE dark, erotic, Mafia romance series. This is thirty-four year old Irish Mafia underboss Finn Gallagher, and eighteen year old Mafia princess Destiny Carter’s story line. VENGEFUL UNION can be read as as stand alone but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Finn and Destiny)following several paths, VENGEFUL UNION follows in the wake of the murder of Destiny Carter’s mother, and her subsequent captivity at the hands of her father. Three months would pass before Destiny is rescued aka bought by a man to whom her father owes millions but a man with whom Destiny will fall in love. Enter Irish Mafia underboss Finn Gallagher. Finn Gallagher is all about the payment of a debt but never expected to find a beaten and battered woman as his ultimate target but little does Finn know that Destiny sees her new captor as a flight to freedom , freedom from a man who saw our heroine as nothing more than a means to an end. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Finn and Destiny, and the fall-out as Destiny’s father demands retribution, and more than one betrayal is about to try and take down the powerful Gallagher-Bianchi Mafia family.

Destiny Carter has always known her father to be a monster but never expected the ultimate betrayal.Knowing her father’s darkest secrets, Destiny is about to hand over control, in an effort to clean house from the top down. Finn Gallagher has no problem taking out those who have betrayed the family but Finn’s methods are dark, and in this, anyone caught in the line of fire will suffer the consequences like never before. The relationship between Finn and Destiny begins as prisoner and captor but Finn’s immediate reaction to Destiny is that of protector and guardian. Destiny is a strong willed, defiant young woman ready to face her battles head on but never expected to fall for the man she thought was going to end her life. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense but not without a question of consent in the early chapters.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and charismatic secondary and supporting characters including most of the previous story line couples; Destiny’s father James Carter, her cousin Levi, uncle Conrad, and her mother; Carter’s right-hand man Drake, as well Cain and Patrick Gallagher, and cousin Jade.Jade’s story is next in EXPLOSIVE UNION.

VENGEFUL UNION is a story of betrayal and vengeance, family and deceit, secrets and lies, power, control, abuse and murder, forgiveness and love. The premise is dark, gritty and raw; the romance is provocative; the characters are powerful, defiant, determined and strong.

I will add that I had not read any of the previous instalments, and because of that, I felt like I was missing something. There is quite a bit of history and backstory, often alluded to throughout the story. I am going to have to go back in order to catch up !
