ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 15, 2013

He’s been her ultimate untouchable desire.

Nothing says happy birthday like a rock god flying thousands of miles to surprise a woman he’s never met. But that’s exactly what happens to Gabi Smith when she gives her long distance best friend a flippant invitation to her laid back girl’s night out. She never expected to turn on the dance floor and find Blake Kennedy’s gaze holding her body captive.

She’s his everything and he’s never laid eyes on her.

Gabi means more to Blake than life itself. She’s his strength, his savior, and the only person who helped to vanquish his demons. No one means more to him than his angel. So when things between them start to sizzle, he’s ready to fight for the future he never thought he would deserve.

Skeletons from his past will threaten his only chance at love…

Blake has come a long way—with Gabi’s help—to leave the hell of his youth behind him, but sometimes memories don’t want to stay buried. Determined to stand on his own for once, Blake is willing to stretch the truth to keep his troubles from burdening the woman he adores.

Little white lies can create black holes in any relationship. Only time will tell if an Aussie with a heart of gold will forgive her bad-boy boyfriend or if the deceit will end his passionate addiction

•••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: PASSIONATE ADDICTION is the second instalment in Eden Summer’s contemporary, new adult rock genre storyline focusing on the members of the rock band Reckless Beat and the women they love. This is Blake and Gabrielle’s story-one with a heartbreaking past that has the ability to destroy the future. Although this is the second in the series, it can be read as a stand alone without too much difficulty.

The storyline begins five years in the past when Gabi and Blake were first introduced. There was never a physical introduction but one via message boards and Skype. Gabi was a volunteer with a crisis help line in Australia and Blake was in need of a crisis intervention back in the USA. Fast forward five years and Gabi will come face to face with the man to whom she has lost her heart and her soul. With Reckless Beat preparing for their Australian tour, Blake made it his mission to find the woman he calls his ‘angel’. She saved his life and he wants to make their relationship more permanent.

The novel focuses on Gabi and Blake’s building relationship. For five years Gabi has been Blake’s rock and sounding board, and now that they are finally together their physical connection is immediate and over the top. But Blake’s past is about to present itself front and center and Blake believes that his only option is to walk away before Gabi is pulled into the mess that was once his life.

The sexual relationship between Gabi and Blake is palpable. The love making is sensual, erotic and often. The world building continues from Blind Attraction as Eden Summers reveals more about the band members and the daily lives behind the scenes of a world famous musician.

There is plenty of tension and anxiety; blackmail and revenge; betrayal and issues of trust. The leading characters are likeable and relatable in a ‘famous rock god’ sort of way. There are heartbreaking and painful moments when Gabi must face the truth of what she has seen, but the reality is much different then what has been presented. A shattered heart is a difficult thing to put back together-there will always be a scar as a reminder of the past.

Eden Summers pulls the reader into a vortex of emotions that can only end with a HEA.

BOOK 1-See How She Runs is currently available for .99cents from Amazon in ebook format:

•••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: SEE HOW SHE FIGHTS is the second instalment in Michelle Graves’ paranormal/UF series-The Chronicles of Izzy. Izzy is a twenty five year old woman who learned in the previous storyline that she is a Seer and the man that she loves is an ancient Guardian who has been waiting his entire life for her birth. In See How She Fights Izzy will come face to face with her mortality and the possibility of the end of the world.

The storyline focuses on Izzy and her destination or rather her pre-destination. With a number of Seers missing and dead, it is up to Izzy to traverse the dream world and use her visions to uncover the who and what that is responsible. But Izzy is more than just a normal Seer-Izzy is presumed to be the ONE-the ONE who will save the Seers and Guardians from the Darkness and their ultimate doom. And with the help of someone not of this world, Izzy will embark on a journey that could quite possibly end her life.

See How She Fights has a distinctively different feel and voice from the first instalment in the series. Michelle Graves uses more snarky and sarcastic banter and come backs, then she used in the previous story. There is the potential for a love triangle building and along with the snark and attitude the overall feel is something similar to many YA storylines. The relationship between Izzy and Kennan is no longer the focus of the series and has been pushed to the background to allow for the build up of the ultimate confrontation. Although Izzy and Kennan are still very much in love, there is a third person vying for Izzy’s affections and in this the story takes on an entirely different feel.

Michelle Graves has once again created a world of Seers and Guardians; dream walkers and visions; soul walkers and runes. But this time around the protection from her Guardian may not be enough to save Izzy from the Darkness that is threatening to take it all away.

Wicked Little Secrets

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / Amazon.uk/ Barnes and Noble / KOBO / The Book Depository

It’s Not Easy Being Good…

Vivacious Vivienne Taylor has finally won her family’s approval by getting engaged to the wealthy and upright John Vandergrift. But when threatened by a vicious blackmail scheme, it is to her childhood friend that Vivienne turns; the deliciously wicked Viscount Dashiell.

When Being Wicked is so Much More Exciting…

Lord Dashiell promised himself long ago that his friendship with Vivienne would be the one relationship with a woman that he wouldn’t ruin. He agrees to help her just to keep the little hothead safe, but soon finds that Vivienne has grown up to be very, very dangerous to all of Dash’s best intentions.

REVIEW

5 out of 5 for this reader folks!

Another brand spanking new author to enjoy in the historical romance genre. Wicked Little Secrets by Susanna Ives totally did it for me. What I was pleasantly surprised about however was not the historical romance setting, the rake, the sass … it was THE HUMOUR! I laughed out loud so many times at the banter, thoughts and quips exchanged and the shenanigans that our leading couple manage to get pull off! LOVED THAT! 🙂

We are introduced to our leading lady Vivienne attending a bible study lecture by her wacky potion addicted, light hearted aunt. Vivienne learns that the man she met as a child and absolutely admires (he calls her his little sister with great affection) had once again returned to town. Elated to say hello knowing he has a bad reputation and is currently the top rake in the ton, Vivienne manages to welcome him home.

Lord Dashiell, serious rake, carefree spirit that oozes sarcasm at any and all moments is completely taken back when he notices his “lil sister” is no longer lil. She has curves, is beautiful, cheeky and unfortunantely engaged to an pompous jerk (we’ll call him jerkface) who wants to cage the wild beauty he is growing to love.

Through many excursions, Vivienne and Dashiell spend much time together, sneeking about town trying to solve one mystery after another. Vivienne learns that her father is in serious debt and can be inprisoned if she does not marry jerkface so she is in constant battle with herself to act like the proper fiance or the adventurous sassy woman she truely is. She is also told (not asked) by jerkface to keep her distance with Lord Dashiell. So much more to this story that involve quite a few amazing secondary characters, but I am not spoiling one word for you. LOL

So you already know this book is full of humour, but the relationship between Vivienne and Dashiell is so wonderful. If any couple were meant for one another, it’s them! They both have a knack of getting into trouble and stealing kisses (among other sins). Add a mystery that they are both eager to solve in that mix, and you get Wicked Little Secrets! LOL

A great lighthearted read. If you enjoy this genre and are looking for a holiday read, I do recommend this book.

HAPPY READING! 🙂

Ink Is Thicker Than WaterLinks to order Ink is Thicker Than Water:

Description:
For Kellie Brooks, family has always been a tough word to define. Combine her hippie mom and tattooist stepdad, her adopted overachieving sister, her younger half brother, and her tough-love dad, and average Kellie’s the one stuck in the middle, overlooked and impermanent. When Kellie’s sister finally meets her birth mother and her best friend starts hanging with a cooler crowd, the feeling only grows stronger.

But then she reconnects with Oliver, the sweet and sensitive college guy she had a near hookup with last year. Oliver is intense and attractive, and she’s sure he’s totally out of her league. But as she discovers that maybe intensity isn’t always a good thing, it’s yet another relationship she feels is spiraling out of her control.

It’ll take a new role on the school newspaper and a new job at her mom’s tattoo shop for Kellie to realize that defining herself both outside and within her family is what can finally allow her to feel permanent, just like a tattoo.

Review:

Ink is Thicker than Water by Amy Spalding is the heart warming story of Kellie Brooks and her unconventional life.  Kellie is a beautiful, 16 year old slight under-achiever from a divorced family.  Her life consists of a wonderful family dynamic and her family life seems ideal until her adoptive sister Sara’s birth mother returns – wreaking havoc on her family life.

Kellie struggles with walking in her sisters shadow and finding her place in the world. With all the turmoil at home, Kellie begins to focus on her high school life and her future. Joining the school paper is exactly what she needs. Then her life is rocked a little more when her best friend walks away and she has no idea why. She meets college student, Oliver, and her life begins to change in ways she never imagined.

I enjoyed this book and the characters – including the sub-characters.  This book takes a realistic look at family, life and relationship struggles – without the over dramatics of it all.  While the relationship with Oliver at times grated my nerves, I soon came to realize why all the insecurities.  Which in the end made for a thoroughly well rounded book.

Take Me (Stark Trilogy Novella) by J. Kenner -a review

Take Me (A Stark Novella) by J. Kenner-a review

Take Me

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / Amazon.uk/ Barnes and Noble / KOBO /

RELEASE DATE: December 3, 2013

Following The Stark Trilogy—the bestselling novels Release Me, Claim Me, and Complete Me—“Take Me” continues the story of Damien Stark and Nikki Fairchild, and introduces Evan Black, the enigmatic man at the center of J. Kenner’s upcoming novel, Wanted .

I’ve long dreamed of my fairy tale wedding, but it wasn’t until I met Damien Stark—who captured me with his kisses and undid me with his touch—that I began to believe it was my destiny. Though we both carry secrets and scars, our shared passion heals us, binding us together. We have surrendered to each other completely, and our mutual ecstasy is the brightest light in my life.

But darkness still snakes through the cracks in our armor. Ghosts from our past have moved in, bringing fresh pain that cuts deep and threatens to destroy everything we hold dear.

Damien is my anchor to this world, and I am his. But if we are going to keep each other, we have to fight the shadows of our pasts to move forward into our future.

“Take Me” is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences.

••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: TAKE ME is the epilogue novella in J.Kenner’s contemporary erotic Stark Trilogy focusing on Damien Stark and Nikki Fairchild. The ending of book three-Complete Me-we were left with a few open ended possibilities but in TAKE ME J. Kenner wraps up the series of Damien and Nikki with a fairy tale wedding and a surprise or two. There is also another potential storyline developing between Nikki’s BFF Jamie and Ryan Hunter-Damien’s head of security which could lead to a few more storylines or a novella or two.

The reader is pulled into the storyline three months after the events in Complete Me and a few days prior to Damien and Nikki’s wedding. With the upcoming nuptials Nikki’s nightmares have returned but a few well placed kisses and phone calls will prove to be effective especially when an unexpected guest makes her presence known. And in the end, Nikki will become Mrs. Damien Stark and our couple will fly off into the sunset (or sunrise) to ensure that no one will interfere again.

J. Kenner, by way of a series cross-over, introduces her next leading hero-Evan Black-in the upcoming release Wanted-the first instalment in her Most Wanted series. Evan is a long-time friend and business associate of Damien Stark and, we get a small glimpse into what this mystery man is capable of doing.

TAKE ME is a welcome storyline-one that is lighter in tone than the previous instalments but not without some controversy of its’ own. J. Kenner writes a storyline that is edgy, sensual and erotic, without any of the over-the-top angst of regret or what ifs and whys. Nikki will come into her own and take command when the time comes and I think every woman, may at one time or another, felt the same way that our heroine felt, when pushed one too many times.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 5, 2013

Love is one experiment this scientist hasn’t tested…

Miss Harriet Burton, a horrendously rich American heiress, laughs too loud, states her opinion directly, and even conducts science experiments. Her uncle is desperate to get her off his hands and is offering a king’s ransom to anyone able to arrange a suitable marriage that comes with a title.

To avoid marriage, Harriet swears off all men, until she meets Duncan Maclachlan, Earl of Thornton. But when Thornton is falsely accused of being a traitor, Harriet must use her knowledge of chemistry to find the real culprit and spark true romance.

REVIEW

4.5 out of 5 for this reader folks!

An enjoyable historical romance, with a side of mystery and a wack of enjoyable characters, A Midsummer Bride by Amanda Forrester is the second book in her Marriage Mart series. While this book wasn’t as exciting as her first book, it by no means left me feeling unsatisfied. Amanda Forrester uses a real historical background (Napoleon’s War), adds a good mix of characters that keep me chuckling (sometimes cringing) and to top it off, adds a mystery that needs to be solved before our leading characters get their happily ever after.

Our leading lady, Miss Harriet Burton is a force to be reckoned with. She is an outspoken, American woman, who has an obsession with chemistry and experimentation, refuses to be cowed by any man, and really doesn’t care what people think. She is the epitome of an what could be referred to as anti-English. When she finds herself in a position where she is forced to go to England and meet her estranged grandfather (her mama was a bad girl and disinherited), she also meets a Scottish Earl who has left a wee impression on her.

Duncan Maclachlan is this Scottish Earl and he is quite taken with Harriet as well. Who is this strange American woman who breaks all the rules polite society rely upon, and why does she intrigue him so much? What kind of woman plays with chemicals, blows up rooms, barges in on secret meetings of high ranking English gentleman to ensure her opinion is heard? What kind of woman is up at the crack of dawn, knows how to appreciate the land he treasures and seems to be placed in his path at a time when she is needed the most?

Both Harriet and Duncan push and pull throughout this story. They are both set upon living to certain rules, but when those lines become blurred, they find themselves in unfamiliar territory, fighting what is right and wrong and trying to decipher the difference. Add a nasty pompous family who relishes in making Harriet uncomfortable, mothers who are uncontrollable, a matchmaker who sees the larger picture, attraction and love brewing and a spy who is weaving one heck of a tangled web, well you then get a great book!

Like her first book in this series, Amanda Forrester has a true knack for introducing a pile of secondary characters (some with side stories) and not taking anything away from the lead story. As you get further into the story, you start to anticipate all these stories blending and when they do and questions are answered, you feel quite content. The only reason I knocked of .5 on my rating as I found it not as exciting as the first one. I will say though, I am eager for her next book, as she has set it up perfectly and I cannot wait to see how it all unfolds!

Love a good ole fashioned historical romance with some mystery, humour and a beautiful couple finding their way to each other? Check this series out. You most certainly will find a bit of this and that!

HAPPY READING! 🙂

To Cast A StoneTO CAST A STONE
The Goddess Redemption Series #1

Release Date: Sept 14, 2013

A cruel twist of fate causes the goddess of the hunt, Artemis, to take the life of her lover, Orion, on the day of their betrothal. As punishment, Zeus locks her away in a stone prison, vowing that she would always search for love and never find it, that her stubbornness and anger rule her and that his death lay at her feet. He strips her of her power and knowledge and casts her in stone. Her punishment is swift and severe. The goddess of love has other designs for the Huntress and works out a plan for Artemis to redeem herself and come home. What entails is a story of redemption, a story of true change, and a tale of a desire that burns feverishly in every heart. But there is also a deeper lesson to be learned along the journey. Great power should be shown great respect.

REVIEW: TO CAST A STONE is the first novella in Kelli Lockheart’s The Goddess Redemption Series of novellas based loosely on the mythological lore of Greek Gods and Goddesses. The prologue reveals the history of Artemis and Orion and what has occurred prior to the storyline premise.

The short introductory story focuses on punishment and redemption following the death of Orion at the hands of his lover Artemis and the resulting centuries of isolation and loss. Artemis was cast in stone for her betrayal and Orion was sentenced to live and die over and over until the day his beloved is returned. And in the interim, a species of shifters will grow in power when their creator is unable to hunt for her prey. With Orion and Artemis gone, the shifters grow in numbers and strength.

The world building takes the reader on a journey through mythological lore, gods and goddesses, and a power struggle between Zeus and Aphrodite. If you are a fan of Greek Mythology, The Goddess Redemption series is an interesting take on the heroes of Olympus.

As an introductory storyline there is plenty of information and detail missing especially as it concerns the shifter species created specifically for the hunt. But it is a novella series, so let’s hope that more information is revealed as with each subsequent story.

Also there is a warning for violence and sexual content, but the detail is light in comparison to many other novels and series we read. Most of the sex is glossed over using euphemisms and flowery language. This is by no means your usual erotica storyline-the graphic detail is limited and most only hints at what happens and what is to come.

Spellbound continues the story of Artemis and Orion as they face the challenges of being human. In this second installment of the Goddess Redemption Series, our beloved huntress is posed a new task on her journey to redemption. Powerless and only beginning to recover her memories, Artemis finds herself in the role of Sara, a wood’s witch caught in the middle of a terrible war between the shifters and the gods whose power is threatened by the creature’s very existence. Victor is an adept hunter with a secret. He knows how to kill the shifters, but when his memories return, can the god of the hunt, find happiness in his human form?

REVIEW: SPELLBOUND is the second storyline in Kelli Lockheart’s Goddess Redemption novella series focusing on the continuing story and reincarnation of Artemis and Orion. In this particular instalment our hunter and goddess of the hunt are Sara and Victor. Sara is believed to be a witch who is searching for a way to protect the people of the village from the werewolves at night: and Victor is a hunter who has been gifted by a stranger with silver tipped magical arrows. Both Victor and Sara had been approached by a woman in disguise and the immortal gods of Olympus were once again at play.
