Description: In this coming of age debut trilogy, USA Today bestseller Micah Caida turns dystopian young adult fiction on its ear with a breathtakingly fresh science fiction, fantasy story that is as much a thriller as it is a romantic tale.

Rayen’s memory is blank. Her future’s in question. Her power is dangerous.

I awoke in an unknown desert landscape that I felt I should recognize, yet I have no real memory of this place or…who I am. A strange ghost told me my name and that I’m seventeen, but he disappeared just as I could have used some help. I was captured along with others my age who said the land was called Albuquerque, then I was handed over to a private school where at times things are as familiar as the nearby mountain range and as alien as seeing a reflection of my face. Everyone thinks I’m a Native American runaway, whatever that is, but the school has offered me a place to stay until they learn my true identity, or my memory returns. As if things aren’t confusing enough, while stuck with a cocky computer-savvy boy and a gifted, but oddball, girl the three of us discovered a secret that threatens the existence of this world – and the future. In the middle of all this, I’m drawn to a seventeen-year-old boy who is as deadly as he is attractive and thinks I’m the enemy.

Review:
Time Trap by Micah Caida is the first book in the Red Moon trilogy, which is a sci fi, dystopian young adult fantasy in a futuristic world. This story starts off immediately with a bang.  You need to pay attention, or you will be lost very quickly. Rayen is our heroine (she is 17), and she wakes up at the start of the story with no memory.  She ends up in a private exclusive school, under surveillance, since she is truly an unknown.  Rayen befriends Gabby, a strange and different young girl.  In class, she is teamed with Tony, a handsome ego centric computer geek (usually they are jocks lol); and he looks down at both Rayen and Gabby as misfits.

Before you blink, all three are sucked through a computer, into a nightmare. They are in an alien land which has a red moon. As they walk around trying to find a way to go back, they find themselves captured by man-eating plants. It is here we see Rayen use a fire burning energy power that frees them; a power she knows nothing about, nor how to control it.  As they desperately look for help in this strange hostile land, they hear sounds of screaming and run to discover a monstrous beast attempting to harm a child, and a group of children surrounding the beast.  Rayen bravely reacts automatically to defend the child, and again using her power, manages to kill the beast.  You would think the young children, led by an older teenage boy, would be thankful. But not so, as Rayen, Gabby and Tony are taken as prisoners to the group’s compound.

All of this happens fairly fast.  The action was wild and furious, and early on I was wondering what I got myself into, since I was a little confused.  But as we end up in the compound of the children, we learn about how they too are stuck in this dangerous sphere, spending their time trying to survive.  Micah Caida gives us lots of details about this futuristic world, with Mystiks, who have magical powers; and Tecknati, who are technical geniuses.  Why are all these Mystik children in this Sphere?  Why do the Technati agents try to kill them? What kind of world is this?

I will not give any spoilers at this point.  There is much to learn, as the world building is huge, and once you learn more and more, things become clearer and the rest of the story is a very exciting tale of survival.  Caida has created some really wonderful characters, such as Rayen, Gabby, Tony, Callan, Mathias, Vru, Zilya, Etoi and villains (SEOH & the Tecknati’s).  The ending was exciting, with a cliffhanger that makes us want to come back to find out more.  I did enjoy the attraction between Callan and Rayen.  I marvel at how Micah Caida has created this world of young children/teenagers to fight a survival of the fittest; and make us believe in it.   Now that I am hooked, I can’t wait for Time Return.

Rayen promised to return, Gabby must return, and Tony can’t return.
Three teenage friends are connected by a shared secret that forces a decision with consequences no one expects. When Rayen arrives on the Red Moon sphere again, she finds shocking changes. Her arrival causes more upheaval and danger for the MystiK children, creating a heart wrenching challenge for Callan who must choose between duty and holding onto the one girl he can’t have. But walking away is harder than he expects when a new MystiK male in the sphere is poised to take Callan’s place. Under threat of attack from an unexpected enemy, Rayen and Callan must put their personal feelings aside to unite a village in chaos.
Choices backfire, trust is forfeit and alliances shift as elements of the Damian Prophecy begin to fall into place and the time of reckoning is closer than anyone expected.

Review:
Time Return by Micah Caida is the 2nd book in her Red Moon series.  Having read the first book, I was prepared for this adventure, as I now knew this world and the majority of the characters.  I love the start of the book description, which perfectly says it all when starting this book.

Her Time. His Time. No Time

Rayen promised to return, Gabby must return, and Tony can’t return.

When we left off in Time Trap, Rayen, Gabby and Tony were back in their own time. The three of them have become so much closer and in sync with each other. With Gabby having adverse reactions, they need to go back, and the three of them will work together to make it happen.

Returning to the Red Moon sphere (in the future), they arrive to much destruction, though only a few days passed. The situation is dire, and Rayen is ready and willing to help Callan fight off the Tecknati enemies, to save the children and find a way for them all to go home. Though throughout this book, this does not look possible. I will not give spoilers, as it is impossible to tell too much, without being too revealing

We get to see the characters we got to know in Time Trap, especially Callan, Mathias, V’ru, Jaxxson , and the two I hated (Zilya and Etoi), as well as two new great characters, Kaz and Kenja.  I loved how the friendship of Rayen, Gabby and Tony evolved, as well as Callan and Rayen’s slow build romance.  This is young adult/children, so there is not much romance other than the strong feelings between them.

This was such an exciting adventure, lots of action, as well as learning more details about the upcoming prophecy, which will decide their future.  I was totally hooked by the fast start, and had to finish the book in one day.  What I found amazing is that Micah Caida has been able to convince us that these children, especially the main characters (11-17), are strong fierce survivalists, capable of doing the things we watch them do. We learn to care about them and root for them all the way.  Rayden is a wonderful heroine, whose powers keep growing, and somehow, someway, she is going to be the one piece that will save them, when this trilogy ends.  At least I hope so.  I also loved Gabby, who has grown so much since this series started, which technically is only a few days or so.  Another plus for Caida is how she has taken three characters (Rayen, Gabby & Tony), so very different, and allowed them to develop a bonding and strong friendship.

Time Return is as story of survival, time travel, futuristic, friendship, villians, battles, sci fi, prophecy and a nice simple romance. This is not just a story for young adults, as it is a very exciting story for all ages.  I cannot wait for the final story in this trilogy, Time Lock.

Review:

Kiss the Enemy by Dianna Love is the 4th book in her wonderful Slye Temp Series.  This is such a fantastic series, with each book being a thrill a minute, as well as having a fabulously hot couple.  Once again, Dianna Love outdoes herself with Kiss the Enemy, which I finished in less than a day.  The only thing that interrupted me was things I had to do, and as soon as I finished, I hurried back to read this exciting book that I could not pull away from.

If you have not read my previous reviews, Slye Temp is an agency the does covert operations to help the government against terrorists type of activity.  Sabrina Slye is the leader, and she is an awesome one at that.  I look forward to one day her story.  But in Kiss the Enemy, our heroine is Margaux, who works for Sabrina, and is one of her best agents.  Margaux though has a hidden past, that cannot be revealed, as it would mean her sure death.  Sabrina is the one who saved her, and trained to be one of her Ops.

But awhile ago Margaux’s  cousin was murdered by a villain named the Banker, and she has blamed herself for her cousin’s death.  Margaux has since been on a vendetta to find him and kill him.  Sabrina has warned her that she is putting the team at risk. The book picks up with the team on an assignment based on Margaux’s info from her main source.  The Op goes bad, and Sabrina plans on removing her from the team, but into a safe house.  Before this could happen, Margaux gets a tip that the Banker is in the states and this is her chance to find him, and at the same time protect her Slye Temp team.  So she runs away.

This is just the beginning of the book, so I am not giving spoilers.  But believe me, once I finished the first  chapter, I was totally hooked, and needed to find out what happens next.  It is at a party, where Margaux  is in disguise as a hooker;  she meets Dragan (aka Logan), a known mercenary, who is also at the party to meet the Banker.  From here on in, the excitement level escalates to so many thrilling moments, as the two of them work close together to survive.  Do they trust each other? …not really.  Is there chemistry between them?  Whew..enough to steam up your e-reader (or the mirror in your room).  I loved both Margaux and Logan together.  They fought; they worked together; they killed to survive; they schemed; and they had hot steamy sex.  Logan had his own team, and I would love to learn more about them too.

I will not tell you too much more, as I do not want to spoil things.  This was such a fantastic story, that I could not get enough of, as I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.  The suspense was palpitating, as they found themselves in danger so many times, and the story was full of surprises with so many twists along the way.

I have said this before, and I will repeat.  Dianna Love writes stories that are exciting, action packed, suspenseful, sexy, and totally pulls you into every page of the book.  One of the main things about this series, is the fabulous characters she creates.  I love the Slye Temp team, as each series the couples are fabulous. I love Sabrina, even if she is not the main character in each book, she is tough, smart, savvy, intensely loyal, and a very important part of the main theme of this series.  To prove how well Dianna creates these awesome characters is that she brought in a different team (Logan’s) and we found ourselves loving them too.  I want more of them all.

Please please Dianna, keep on writing this series, and giving us more of these fabulous characters, whom we have grown to love.  If you love well written books, that are exciting, on the edge of your seat suspense, non-stop action, characters you care about, fun and hot steamy sex; then look no further than Dianna Love and her Slye Temp series.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 4, 2014

Gavin Mathis is ready to settle down. He’s quit his job and come home to Shadow Maverick Ranch to do just that. Too bad his decision caused his beautiful former colleague to lose her job.

Lauren Delgado is a no-nonsense businesswoman. She’s had a crush on Gavin for years, but has a strict “hand-off” policy with the men she works with. When her life takes an unexpected turn, there’s nothing to stop her from accepting his invitation to Galveston Island, where the policy is definitely hands-on.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: WHITE COLLAR COWBOY is the first instalment and novella in Parker Kincade’s adult, contemporary, western Shadow Maverick Ranch romance series. This is Gavin Mathis and Lauren Delgado’s story. Gavin, along with his twin sister, are the eldest Mathis siblings and he is about to take over the reigns at the family’s Shadow Maverick Ranch.

The focus of the storyline is the building relationship between Gavin and Lauren. A friends to lovers storyline, the reader is pulled into a story where Lauren must make a decision about her future, now that she is unemployed. Enter Gavin Mathis-a former colleague and the man she has crushed on for close to twelve years. When Gavin offers his house on the beach for a weekend to relax, Lauren is quick to accept not realizing that Gavin too, may have had plans of his own.

The world building introduces Gavin’s close knit family of five siblings who will be working together towards a common goal-in this-there is the potential for five more storylines. WHITE COLLAR COWBOY is a quick and erotic read that will pull you in from the very start. The sex scenes are sensual and arousing; there is never any question that our couple is attracted to one another. The storyline is well paced for a novella and there is none of the ‘rush to the finish’ of some short stories.

Parker Kincade has written an captivating storyline about two people who have loved one another from afar and have been given a second chance for a happily ever after. I can see myself becoming addicted to the storylines from the Shadow Maverick Ranch.

Excerpt beige

Gavin reached the shore and dragged his tired limbs from the water. He snatched up his clothes and walked, naked and unconcerned, up to the house. His legs protested as he climbed the stairs to the porch. Maybe he had overdone it a little, but he resisted falling into one of the deck chairs, instead dropping his stuff outside the door as he slid it open. A quick shower to rinse the Gulf from his skin, maybe a beer or two, and he was done.

As he breeched the threshold, a movement to the left caught his attention and he turned, completely gobsmacked by what he found.

His weakened limbs found the renewed strength to hold him in place, standing completely still so as not to shatter the vision before him.
She was here. She was actually here.

Gavin watched in utter fascination as Lauren slipped the shirt from her shoulders. Inch by gorgeous inch, she unknowingly revealed her back to him. The creamy skin made his mouth water. His body tensed and he yearned to reach out, to touch, to tease, to pleasure.

Obviously, she thought she was alone. He should make his presence known. Shouldn’t stand here and watch as she unhooked her bra. And definitely shouldn’t watch as she … sweet mercy, was she caressing her—fuck.

A flash of lust burned through him. Gavin licked his lips, his tongue suddenly desperate for something to do. His gaze focused on the movement of her arms as she cupped her breasts. He’d give anything to know what, who she was thinking about right now. He wanted it to be him, hoped it was him. It was wrong, so wrong, yet he remained still, transfixed, waiting to see what she did next.
A tiny sound emerged from her throat, and his cock hardened in response. Her arms dropped. So did his gaze. The shimmering blue panties she wore didn’t quite cover her butt cheeks and he groaned as she bent to pick up what appeared to be a bikini top. Not panties then. Jesus, she was changing into a bathing suit. Not performing some kind of erotic strip tease.

Lauren spun, slapping her palms to her breasts. Not fast enough to keep him from seeing her tawny nipples, both drawn up to tight little buds.

Her gaze drifted over him, lingering over his chest before heading lower. Her eyes widened as she took in the rest of him. “W-what are you doing here?”

He made no attempt to cover himself. “It’s my house.” Simple, to the point. Truth. And all he was capable of at the moment.

Her fingers tightened, her breasts threatening to spill from the confines of her small, delicate hands. Hands he’d like to replace with his own.

“That’s not what I meant. You said you were leaving tonight.”
He nodded slowly. “Yes, and I did. You never asked me where I was going.”

“So, you asked me to come, but thought I wouldn’t if I knew you’d be here?”

He could practically hear the gears turning in her head. And he appreciated the fact she was pleased with what she saw, but she was making coherent thought damn near impossible.

“Staring at it like that is only going to make it worse, sweetheart,” he said gently.

Her eyes snapped up, a light blush staining her cheeks. “Like what?”

“Like it’s candy.” She was killing him. He couldn’t remember ever being so hard. The stubborn set of her chin, the darkening of her eyes, everything about her intrigued him, called to him.

“I need a shower.” The saltwater from his swim was already starting to make his skin itch, and he needed to get the hell away before he tossed her to the couch and fucked her blind.

He looked her up and down again, taking full advantage of his first opportunity to see her body, the curves that had tempted him for so long. She was even more beautiful than he’d imagined. Lean, muscular legs, rounded hips and an ass he’d like to sink his hands into. Breasts too big for her smaller hands, but perfect for his.

“Unless you’d like to join me, I’d suggest you put on something more substantial.” He glanced pointedly the apex of her legs. “Because knowing I’m one scrap of material from having you naked is driving me crazy.” As if she hadn’t seen the rock-hard evidence of his arousal already.

Slowly, her lips curled upward. “Well, I seem to remember you telling me I could help myself to anything I wanted.” She dropped her hands, baring her nipples for his view. “So, yes, Gavin. I think a shower sounds perfect.”

UNCAGED (Corps Security 3.5) by Harper Sloan

ABOUT THE BOOK: Released March 11, 2014

Greg Cage’s life is more fulfilling than he ever could have imagined. He’s married to the love of his life, has an amazing son, and in a few short months, his family will grow again with the birth of his twin girls.

The past year has been a tough one for the Cage family, but they are now on the road to healing by learning to let go of the past and looking forward to their future.

When situations beyond his control threaten to take away so much of what Greg holds close to his heart, he has to learn that he doesn’t always have the control he tries to maintain in their lives. Will he be able to handle the stress of knowing his wife and newborn daughters are beyond his protection?

Join the Cage family as they embark on yet another one of life’s journeys with a rambunctious four-year-old, pregnancy complications, and the fear of the unknown.

Will the love that Greg and Melissa share hold true as they fight to overcome the obstacles that face them?

UNCAGED is not a standalone. It is a continuation of CAGE. It is recommended that you read the first 3 books in the series before UNCAGED.

••••••••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: UNCAGED is the latest instalment in Harper Sloan’s adult, contemporary CORPS SECURITY erotic series focusing on a group of former marines and the women they love. This is the continuing story of Greg ‘Cage’ and Melissa Larson. At the end of book 2 CAGE, Greg and Melissa has expanded their family by adopting Melissa’s nephew Cohen and discovering that that they are expecting a child of their own. The storyline advances the series by approximately one year but oh, the epilogue, is another story, all together.

UNCAGED is an erotic storyline that looks at two people who have survived the loss of family; the loss of friends and now the possibility of losing everything in a matter of a few seconds. Greg Cage is first and foremost a protector and when the unthinkable occurs, Cage is a man lost in a world of sorrow, heartbreak and the hopelessness of the unknown. Without the ability to control the outcome, a once strong and powerful man caves to the possibility that life as he knows it is about to end.

Told from three distinct first person POV-Cage, Melissa and Cohen-the world building continues with the inclusion of the Corps Security team and their mates as well as their flamboyant neighbor Sway and the love of his life Davey. Four year old Cohen comes front and center as his world is about to change but it is the epilogue that will have you shaking your head with what’s in store for the future.

Harper Sloan pulls the reader into a storyline where the possibility of a HEA is in question; where the Corps team is helpless to protect; and where the strength of friendship and family is the one thing on which you can depend. The relationship between Melissa and Cage continues to be sensual, sexual and erotic. Cage is a man possessed by one woman and this possession may very well be his ultimate undoing.

UNCAGED is a fast paced story but does not leave the reader with whiplash. The storyline feels complete without the rush of many novellas where the author is too quick to the finish. There is a definitive beginning, middle and end. And like the blurb says, this is not a stand alone novella-you must read the first three storylines to understand the premise and everything that has come before.

Happily-ever-after is not guaranteed, and mythical creatures aren’t the only danger the couple face. As battles rage, Rielle has the chance to prove herself a capable leader, but will doing so cost her the love of her life?

REVIEW

4.5 out of 5 for this reader folks!

Once again Mary Waibel writes a whimsical, mythical, spin on a fairytale kind of story. The colours and creatures that she creates in this world were so vivid in my mind and it totally enhanced my reading pleasure! She stands out from other authors in that respect and now when I pick up a book she has written I prep myself to go on fun, captivating ride! I love that! 🙂

Different Kind of Knight by Mary Waibel is the third book of her Princess of Valendria series. I will say you can read this book as a stand alone, but I am funny about reading things in order, and if you skip reading the first two books, you would be depriving yourself of a couple of great stories. So I encourage you to check them out first!

Our leading lady, Princess Gabrielle (Rielle) is so easy to adore. She is a strong, capable woman who sets her mind to a task and goes after it with gusto! As a woman given the opportunity to lead the king’s army, she has no choice but to appear confident while inside we see a little vulnerability. Now she must battle and balance that confidence and vulnerability because she is tasked to capture a man that has been accused of attacking the kingdom … oh and he just so happens to be the man that broke her heart years ago.

Captain Brody (also a prince) is living in self exile. Just as he thinks that he has had enough of this life, in comes Rielle to stir the nest of unsaid feelings and questions and perhaps relights that spark that makes Brody want to hang in there a little while longer. He is handsome and also strong but weary of exile, and dealing with his daddy issues. Having Rielle back in his life makes him step back and realize that there is light in his dark world.

As these two embark on a journey full of magic, creatures, betrayal, love, duty, personal conflict and one heck of a mystery, they realize they are so much better with the other around. They are a true compliment to one another, never holding the other back from being who they need to be. But those feelings still linger and before they can determine if they should move forward, they need to survive the fight of their lives.

If you like a colourful world, with a power couple and a little magic here and there, I strongly recommend Mary Waibel’s novels. She keeps them fairly clean (I like my novels a little grittier), but I have to admit it’s refreshing now and then to read a great story with no smut. LOL

HAPPY READING! 🙂

Review:

Silent Graves by Carolyn Arnold is the 2nd book in her Brandon Fisher FBI series.  This series revolves around Brandon Fisher, who is a young FBI agent still on probation in the Special Cases division, BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit.  Their cases are usually dark violent cases, such as serial killers.  In Silent Graves, the team (Brandon, Jack (his boss), Paige, & Zachary) are called into a case of a missing women, and when they are notified about a body being found in a small town in Virgina, they travel there to investigate.

Soon they begin to suspect that the missing woman, & the body just found are the result of a serial killer, which upon further investigation begins to add up to 30 missing women, most within the past years.  When another woman is kidnapped, the case is escalated to try and find the killer before he kills them.  What follows is a terrifying story of a mentally disturbed killer, whom Arnold also gives a POV that allows us into his dark maniacal mind, and to those he tortures.

We do get mostly Brandon’s POV, as he tries to prove to his boss Jack that he belongs on the team and should be off probation.  However, Brandon has his own private issues dealing with these horrific type of cases, which haunt him.  But he is a very good agent, as he helps put together the complex clues with the rest of the team.

Carolyn Arnold does a fantastic job of putting this story together, with the complexity of the clues, findings, twists and surprises, which she excels in.  Carolyn’s knowledge of police procedural is amazing, and she does this so flawlessly to precise perfection.  There isn’t a moment that is used with fluff.  It is all tense and terrifying, as the story slowly unravels.  I do not want to give any spoilers, other then to say this was a race to the finish exciting climax.  Carolyn Arnold is a wonderful writer, who has the ability to put you right in the middle of a tense violent storyline.  It is important to note, that this is a graphic violent storyline, that had me at times tense and depressed; it is very realistic and if you do not like this type of book it might not be for you.  But if you enjoy these types of stories, then you must read Silent Graves.

A tutor is the last thing I want right now—until I get a look at her.

Chelsea is not my type at all. She’s smart and totally shy. I’m pretty sure she’s even a virgin. But when she gives me the once over with those piercing blue eyes, I’m really over. But in a different way. I won’t deny her ass is killer, but it’s her brain and the way she seems to crave love—like no one’s ever given her any—that make me want her more than any girl I’ve ever met. But what would someone as seemingly together as her ever see in a screwed up guy like me?

REVIEW: FOUR YEARS LATER is the fourth and final instalment in Monica Murphy’s new adult, contemporary, romance series that began with Drew and Fable’s story. Four Years Later fast forwards the series four years but approximately one year following Drew & Fable Forever. This is Owen and Chelsea’s story-Owen is Fable’s younger brother and is having some difficulty integrating into the college life-especially when his past refuses to let him go.

FOUR YEARS LATER follows Owen as the up and coming football star whose life is beginning to spiral out of control. When a tutor is hired to help Owen with his grades, he finds himself sexually and physically attracted to the shy and virginal Chelsea Simmons. But Owen’s failing grades are a combination of many demons including the reappearance of someone who walked away years before. As their relationship builds, so too do the secrets they hide from one another. But it is Owen’s denial of his relationship with Chelsea that will push away the woman with whom he is falling in love.

Monica Murphy brings together the major players first introduced in One Week Girlfriend. From dysfunctional family dynamics, heartbreaking backstories and happily ever afters, we have followed the Drew and Fable saga beginning with a traumatic tale of neglect and abuse to the rising success of a once fourteen year old boy whose looking to the future with the woman he loves.

Monica Murphy claims that FOUR YEARS LATER is the conclusion to the One Week Girlfriend/Drew & Fable series, but there is so much left unanswered where Owen and Chelsea are concerned. The final storyline is open ended with Owen and Chelsea in the ‘here and now’-with no plans for the present-and in this, there are so many more stories yet to be told. Let’s hope Monica has a few short stories lined up for Chelsea and Owen.

If you are a fan of the Drew & Fable/One Week Girlfriend series, Four Years Later looks at what happens to a young man who has had a difficult time fitting in – abandoned by his mother; never knowing his father; and expected to follow in the footsteps of his famous and much older brother in law. Monica Murphy draws the reader into a story that is not as emotional or heartbreaking as One Week Girlfriend but a story that will tug at your heart-none the less.

SAVING GRACE (Safe Havens #1) by Sandy James

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 1, 2013

Grace Riley is on the run—from her past and from her fears. The victim of a violent rape at the hands of a rich politician’s son, she must “disappear” to escape his constant attempts to recapture her. Moving from cattle drive to cattle drive as a cook, she avoids her tormentor for nearly twenty years. When she discovers that the brother she gave up for adoption after their mother died in childbirth was orphaned at an early age, she is frantic to verify that he’s safe. She tracks him to a cattle ranch in Montana.

Widower Adam Morgan owns the Twin Springs ranch, but finds himself falling into a life of loneliness. Although he enjoys spending time with his grown daughter and the two men he rescued when they were living on the streets, he longs to meet a woman he can love. Living in the Montana territory where men greatly outnumber women makes finding a new wife difficult. Weary of working cattle, he is ready to make some changes in his life.

Grace falls ill on her journey, but she manages to make it to the Twin Springs ranch where her brother is supposed to be living. Adam takes her in, concerned for her health and the reason she’s searching for one of his adopted sons. Their chemistry is immediate and intense, but can Grace heal from her past of pain and fear? When her secrets are finally revealed, can Adam forgive her deceptions and learn to love again?

REVIEW: SAVING GRACE is the first instalment in Sandy James’s historical western, romance Safe Havens series. The series focuses on a tight knit group of friends and family from Montana in and around the 1880’s. There are two love stories building throughout Saving Grace: Grace Riley and Adam Morgan’s story; Matthew Riley (Grace’s brother) and Victoria Morgan (Adam’s daughter).

The premise follows Grace as she searches for her ‘brother’ Jake- given up for adoption twenty years earlier. Believing she has finally found the clues to her missing sibling, Grace runs into trouble when her past stops at nothing to keep Grace from running away. When Grace finds herself at the Twin Springs ranch where years earlier Jake had found a home, she will come face to face with her future and the man she would grow to love.

Adam Morgan is the personification of the perfect husband and mate. He is supportive, protective and although he knows the woman with whom he has fallen in love keeps buried a secret that results in numerous nightmares, Adam allows Grace the time to recover and more forward. But not too much time because Grace is being stalked and the man is obsessed with the woman he cannot have.

The second storyline focuses on Adam’s daughter Victoria and Grace’s brother Matthew-their relationship is a little more angst ridden as Matthew pushes all of Victoria’s proverbial feminist buttons. For a woman from the 1800s Victoria is an independent female who isn’t afraid to speak her mind, wear pants or get her hands dirty rustling up a few new horses for the farm. Their relationship is a bit more volatile as Matthew keeps pulling away with each encounter.

SAVING GRACE is a story of pure romance where one woman’s past can never be forgotten. From a rape at fourteen years of age to finally finding that special someone in her life, SAVING GRACE blends betrayal with heartache; truth with lies; moving on and letting go. Sandy James writes a sweet storyline of finding love and a happily ever after.

REVIEW: RUNAWAY is the second instalment in Sandy James’s historical western, romance Safe Havens series focusing on a group of friends and family in Montana. This is Cassie Shay and Ty Bishop’s story –one that advances the series approximately three to four years.

The premise follows Cassie as she uncovers a plot to murder Ty and his best friend Jake Curtis. Jake is the son of Grace Morgan and has been invited to meet his extended Shay family on the west coast. When Jake and Ty encounter a life or death situation, it will be a young twenty year old woman-Cassie Shay-who rescues the pair from their untimely demise. Cassie is a woman on the run but Ty will ensure that the only place she runs to will be to Montana –with him.

Ty’s attraction to Cassie is immediate although they are from different backgrounds, different class and different education. As they make their way across country, Ty begins to fall for the feisty Cassie Shay but getting his family and friends back home to accept her will be another problem-all together. Cassie comes from one of the most hated families and no one is willing to open their arms a woman whose family has threatened everyone they love.

Sandy James pulls the reader into a romantic storyline about two people from different walks of life-Ty believes he is not worthy of Cassie’s love and affection and, Cassie believes that she has placed everyone in danger with her presence and connection to the Shay family.

RUNAWAY is a story of heartbreak and betrayal; family and friends; love and letting go. Many of the previous storyline characters play secondary roles as well as the introduction of the next story hero-Caleb Young.

If you like a romantic storyline about a hard working cowboy and a strong willed heroine then RUNAWAY is the perfect read for a lazy afternoon.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 10, 2014

Anxiously awaiting his mail order bride, rancher Caleb Young is delighted when a beautiful woman steps off the stagecoach. A series of misassumptions soon finds the two taking their marriage vows.

When Sara discovers she isn’t Caleb’s intended bride, she hides her scandalous past and sets out to prove she can be a good wife. Caleb adores Sara but suspects her of hiding something very important. Despite Sara’s secrets, their love grows and a child is conceived.

When Caleb’s real bride arrives, their troubles begin, only to be compounded by the appearance of the man Sara robbed. Now the two lovers must discover whether their love is strong enough to survive the forces threatening to tear them apart.

••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: REDEEMED is the third instalment in Sandy James’s historical western, romance Safe Havens series set in the 1880’s countryside of Montana. This is Sara and Caleb’s story. Sara is Ty Bishop’s sister and Caleb is Gideon’s brother –who were both introduced in book two Runaway. Sara is on the run and heads to Montana where she is hoping to find refuge with her brother but finds love and a future with a stranger who believes she is his mail order bride. The novel advances the series approximately one year.

The storyline focuses on Caleb and Sara’s building relationship as well as Sara’s struggle to keep the secrets about her past-in the past. Her history as a ‘whore’ runs too close to a Caleb’s own family secret and when the truth is revealed Caleb leaves his young wife alone to struggle with tending the farm and a new born baby. He is a man who believes he has been manipulated and betrayed but not once did he ever consider the circumstances of Sara’s past. Caleb’s selfishness puts his young bride’s health at risk as she is determined to keep the farm running without anyone’s help.

The relationship between Caleb and Sara is quick to build; a quick marriage and acceptance but not once did we feel the love between the couple until it was too late. Caleb is a man who believes his new wife to be an innocent and Sara is a woman who knows that once the truth is revealed, she will lose everything including the man with whom she has fallen in love.

I did have one small concern and it seems to have prevailed from storyline to storyline-this is a small town where everyone is willing to help out those in need; newcomers etc but once they discover the secrets; the past or the truth, these people are quick to judge, take offense and push away. Not quite neighborly when things turn bad.

Most of the previous storyline characters are present including Caleb’s brother Gideon; Ty and Cassie; Grace and Adam. The story is well paced, easy to follow and introduces the next potential single male looking for love.

Sandy James has written an enjoyable, romantic series where one storyline flows into the next. With the inclusion of previous storyline characters, there is a familiar feel to the time, the place and the people. Although each book can be read as a stand-alone I would recommend reading in order.

My income tax return says that I am a teacher. I had originally intended it to say “lawyer,” but romance, marriage, and motherhood set my life on a different course.

I’ve been married to Jeff James since 1983. Even after all these years, he is still the love of my life. Jeff and I have two grown children who make us proud every day.

My husband and I share another strong and wonderful interest that is not only a great part of our day-to-day lives but has also become a running theme throughout some of my books. We own a small racing stable of Standardbred Harness horses, pacers to be exact. We have always loved the sport and as our children grew up enough to have their own interests, Jeff looked into what it would be like to own a racehorse. We jumped into the sport with both feet and are loving every minute of it.

As another bit of personal information, I’d like to share that several years ago I was diagnosed with lupus. I know that there are others out there who either have had the same diagnosis or know someone who has. I’m sharing this because I want to encourage you all that chronic illnesses do not have to keep you down and out of the swing of life. I still teach, still work with my horses, have a wonderful family life, and am still able to spend hours at my laptop writing on my latest book.

I am blessed to be leading a life full of the things I like to do and people I love.
