REVIEW

3.5 out of 5 for this reader folks!

Cade by V.A. Dold is the first book in her Le Beau Brothers series, and I have to say overall it was a hit, but there were a couple of misses that stood out. I did remain engaged in the story however as the couple was so sweet together and I really wanted them to have a HEA.

Cade Le Beau is a billionaire shifter ready to find his mate and curses the missed chance he had to meet her. Well fate steps in and in walks Anna James. Anna is a full figured woman that has come out of an abusive marriage but still holds the emotional scars. She is visited in her dreams by the most yummy man that she feels bonded and connected to. But how can she be so attached to a man that lives only in her dreams?

Cade and Anna finally meet in real life and the sparks are instant. They feel like old souls that have known each other forever and are meant to be together for many many years ahead. Anna is still fearful as her ex Tim is still threatening her and introducing some nasty guys in her life. Little does Tim know he is taking on a pack of shifters who are fiercely protective of their mates and their family …. he is about to find out though … LOL

So the pacing of this book was not to my liking. I found there was no build up of the relationship, no anticipation and teasing that I crave in my romance books and unfortunately that takes away from the believability of the story. That being said, I never leave a negative without a positive. I loved the fierce protectiveness that Cade displayed and the acceptance of Anna by his fellow shifters. It was like she was meant to be a member of their family and guys embracing another’s mate as family is just super sweet in my eyes! I also like that Anna was a full figured woman .. LOL

Overall a series I will continue with. I am looking forward to reading more about the Le Beau brothers, and seeing V.A. Dold’s grow as an author! If ya have a craving for some smexy shifter’s … check this book out! 🙂

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 6, 2014

First Sergeant Rafe Murano did everything to the extreme. He trained harder, he fought harder, and, unfortunately, he loved harder. And falling for the wrong woman nearly destroyed him.

Home from a deployment, and without his missions to consume him, Murano is ravaged by memories of his heartbreak. So he drinks until he’s numb and drowns himself in meaningless one-night stands. But they only take the edge off…

Until he meets Fallon.

Haunted by her past, Fallon Kelly knows all too well about the desperate desire for an escape. So when she sees the tatted-up bad boy who’s one punch away from a ride in the back of a squad car, she offers a distraction—one that quickly becomes an addiction.

Little does she know, this bad boy can love so hard, it can break her…

••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: A BEAUTIFUL DISTRACTION is the third full length novel in Kelsie Leverich’s contemporary, adult, erotic, romance series focusing on a group of military men and the women that they love. This is Rafe Murano and Fallon Kelly’s story. Both have buried secrets; demons that ride them hard; and different ways of handling the stress and anxiety of everyday life. While Rafe drinks and has indiscriminate sex with any number of women, Fallon owns two upscale adult dance clubs where men watch and women perform. One night, Rafe walks into Fallon’s club and finds himself drawn to the beautiful dancer with the grace of a ballerina and he knows that he is about to lose his heart-all over again.

The storyline follows Rafe and Fallon’s building relationship-a relationship predicated on rules and no promises of anything more. Kicked out of her family home at seventeen, Fallon has fought her way to the top of the gentlemen’s entertainment industry and is proud of her accomplishments and successful business ventures. Meeting First Sergeant Rafe Murano starts a slow burn that begins to melt the ice that has encased her heart for many years but Rafe’s temper and need to protect will force Fallon to walk when he is unable to get past what it is she does for a living.

A BEAUTIFUL DISTRACTION is a well paced, emotional and erotic storyline about two people from different walks of life. This is a story about second chances-not with one another-but a second chance at trust, happiness and love. The secondary characters are colorful, eclectic and add a wealth of information and backstory. Everyone has a history and no two histories are alike.

The sexual tension is palpable. You can feel the desire, the need and the sensuality but Fallon is a woman who has been hurt by a past mired in family betrayal, heartbreaking sorrow and loneliness.

My only complaint is the over use of the word babe. At one point I thought the hero did not remember the heroine’s name.

Kelsie Leverich writes a realistic and intense storyline where the past overlaps the present and could very well affect the future. It is a story about two people lost in a world of hurt, who find solace in one another but not before jealousy and the past plant themselves front and center.

A BEAUTIFUL DISTRACTION is an intimate look at a building relationship between two broken hearts who thought love had passed them by. They become one another’s distraction but a distraction they cannot resist.

Rock My World by Julie Shackman-Review and Interview with the Author

Rock My World

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / Amazon.uk /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 14, 2014

Ruby Cameron is an ambitious reporter for a local paper where she is fed scraps of news, and lives with a man whose “idea of living dangerously is to leave the heating on when we pop out to the shops”. But after catching her squeaky clean boyfriend in flagrante delicto she ups sticks and moves into her own small home, only to discover the ghostly presence of a cheeky rock star who becomes her confidant as the dynamics of her small town, and her feelings about her dashing new boss, begin to throw up more questions than she can answer. Will Ruby discover who she really is, and perhaps more importantly, who she wants to be?

••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: ROCK MY WORLD is a contemporary, paranormal, romance, suspense storyline focusing on twenty eight year old newspaper reporter Ruby Cameron and the ghost who resides in her new home. After she finds her boyfriend having sex with a younger woman, Ruby moves into a new housing development, built upon the grounds of a former theatre, where she is immediately assaulted by the familiar tones of 80s rock anthems. To Ruby’s surprise she is the only person who hears the music and with it will come the apparition of the long deceased Stevie V-front man and singer for the former Scottish rock group Legend who died close to twenty eight years earlier-on the very spot.

The storyline focuses on Ruby’s investigation into the death of Stevie V. The rocker has not been able to move on since his demise and pleads with Ruby to investigate what he believes was not an accident but a murder. As a reporter Ruby has more connections than the average person but what Ruby uncovers will shock everyone including herself. As if investigating Stevie’s death isn’t enough, Ruby will be introduced to a new reporter whose father owns the struggling paper and her attraction to Matt Jardine is immediate and unwelcome.

Julie Shackman writes an inviting storyline about one woman’s search for the truth but what she uncovers will change her life, as well. This is a story of suspense and mystery; betrayal and jealousy; losing and second chances. Our heroine Ruby will be given a second chance at love in the guise of a fellow reporter but what ensues is a game of push and pull.

The storyline is told from alternating first person (Ruby) and close third person POV. The writing style is simple and the backstory is revealed through investigation, interviews and reflection. A good portion of the storyline goes back and forth between present day and the past but not always in the same time period-the story spans over thirty years.

Julie Shackman references many of the songs, fads and happenings of the 1980s to give the storyline a familiar edge in reality. The secondary characters are an eclectic mix of family, friends and co-workers who add a little color and entertainment to the storyline.

ROCK MY WORLD is an entertaining and spirited story with a little bit of romance, a little bit of sex, a little bit of mystery and a little bit of suspense. If you like a mystery storyline with a little bit of romance woven throughout then ROCK MY WORLD will definitely entertain.

Interview

TRC: Hi Julie and welcome to The Reading Café.

Julie Shackman We would like to start with some background information. Would you please tell us something about yourself?

FOLLOW Julie: Twitter/ Facebook / Blog/ Goodreads

Julie: I trained as a journalist but writing romance has always been a dream of mine. When I’ve not got my head in a book or drafting one, I write verses and captions for greetings card companies. Writing at home seems to be incredibly difficult for me – I usually require coffee, music and noise. I’m married with two sons and live in Scotland.

TRC: What or who influenced your foray into writing?

Julie: I remember reading novels by writers like Judith Krantz when I was about 13 and I thought “Wow!” The idea of sitting writing and using your ideas and your words to make readers laugh, cry and empathise with you just seemed wonderful to me. I’ve always been obsessed with writing and books from an
early age.

TRC: You once were employed as a writer for greeting cards. Please tell us the details 😉

Julie: I still write verses and captions for greetings card companies and really enjoy doing it! The idea came to me when I read about a writer in theStates who’d make a success of it and I wondered whether I should give it a try. I pulled together several different verses and started sending them off to greetings card companies. After a couple of weeks, two came back and said they wanted to purchase some of my work and that was it.

TRC: Did you have the opportunity to ‘see’ the greeting cards prior to writing the verses?

Julie: I do occasionally get sent the designs to work from. Other times, I’m provided with a description or design brief saying what they are looking for. A lot of the art work is gorgeous.

TRC: As a journalist were you able to travel the world? What do you miss most?

Julie: I didn’t travel the world no, but I did cover some very diverse stories and met some really interesting characters. I probably miss some of them the most!

Rock My WorldTRC: ROCK MY WORLD is your February 2014 release. Would you please tell us something about the premise?

Julie: Ruby Cameron is an ambitious reporter for a local paper where she is fed scraps of news, and lives with a man whose “idea of living dangerously is to leave the heating on when we pop out to the shops”. But after catching her squeaky clean boyfriend in flagrante delicto she ups sticks and movesinto her own small home, only to discover the ghostly presence of a cheeky rock star who becomes her confidant as the dynamics of her small town, and her feelings about her dashing new boss, begin to throw up more questions than she can answer. Will Ruby discover who she really is, and perhaps more importantly, who she wants to be?

TRC: Is this a standalone novel or do you have plans for a series?

Julie: “Rock My World” is a stand-alone novel. I don’t have any plans to make it into a series. I think Ruby, Stevie and Matt (my three main characters) would agree that their story has been told. I did love writing it though and got a bit emotional when I’d typed “The End.”

TRC: Are any of the characters or the storyline premise based in reality?

Julie: No, they’re not wholly based on people I’ve met. There’s elements there of people I know…!

TRC: What are your thoughts on writing a series and ending an instalment with a major cliff hanger?

Julie: I think writing like that is a great idea and really helps to hook readers. However, I think as a writer you have to follow your heart. It’s probably just a case of finding the type of writing style, story and genre that suits you and that you love and then just going with it.

TRC: When writing a storyline, do the characters direct the writing or do you direct the characters?

Julie: There’s definitely a bit of both of these elements going on at times! Usually though, my characters seem to do their own thing and I try to give them freedom.

TRC: The mark of a good writer is to pull the reader into the storyline so that they experience the emotions along with the characters. What do you believe a writer must do to make this happen? Where do you believe writer’s fail in this endeavor?

Julie: I often read “Write what you know” and “If you enjoy writing your novel, it comes through and the reader will enjoy it too.” So if you can put some of your own genuine feelings and emotions into your characters and into the story generally (whilst loving doing it!) I think you’ll hook the reader.

TRC: Writer’s Block is a very real phenomenon. How do you handle the pressures and anxiety of writer’s block?

Julie: I’ll go out for a walk; read a book or listen to some music. Sometimes though, I’ll try to push through it and even if I seem to write a lot of rubbish, I’ll leave it and go back and try to improve it the next day.

TRC: What challenges or difficulties (research, logistics, background) did you encounter writing this particular story and series?

Julie: I didn’t really find any difficulties writing “Rock My World.” I did quite a bit of research on the internet, just checking facts on 80s rock music and lifestyle/politics of the time. That brought back a few memories!

TRC: Many authors bounce ideas and information with other authors or friends and family. With whom do you bounce ideas?

Julie: I bounce ideas off my Husband and friends and family mainly. I can usually see on their faces what they make of my ideas!

TRC: On what are you currently working?

Julie: I have just finished writing my second novel (a rom-com) and am polishing that at the moment. I’m also pulling together research and ideas for my third novel (also a rom-com) which has a well-known historical figure as its main character.

TRC: What three things would you like to accomplish in the next five years?

Julie: I just want to keep writing romances that make people laugh and cry.

Secondly, like most writers, I would love for one of my books to be turned into a TV drama.

Lastly, I wouldn’t mind getting involved in writing a mini-series for TV.

TRC: What is something that few, if any people, know about you?

Julie: I learnt Russian at secondary school and got an O Level in it.

TRC: Would you like to add anything else?

Julie: Just to say thank you so much to The Reading Cafe for this great interview!

Make You Mine
The Dumont Bachelors #1
by Macy Beckett
Release Date: May 6, 2014
Genre: contemporary, romance, adult

Make You MineAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / The Book Depository

Description:
For ninety-nine years, every man in the Dumont family has remained a perpetual bachelor. Residents of Cedar Bayou, Louisiana, whisper about a voodoo hex cast upon the family, sabotaging each man’s chance at marriage. In truth, the Dumont men have their own player personalities to blame, and Marc is no exception. As captain of his family’s riverboat, he’s broken hearts up and down the Mississippi. That is, until his high school crush strolls onboard…

Allie Mauvais rocks the boat when she fills in as pastry chef. She hasn’t seen Marc since senior year, when rumors flew that her great-great-grandmother was the one who cursed the Dumonts. After two weeks on the water, neither can deny the attraction that still burns between them. But to truly reach Marc’s heart, Allie must show him that the hex isn’t real, and it’ll take more than her mouthwatering sweets to prove it. Will Allie’s love be enough to finally make Marc hers

Review:
Make You Mine by Macy Beckett is the first book in her new series, The Dumont Bachelors.  I have read, and enjoyed previous books by Macy Beckett.  When I heard about her new romance series, The Dumont Bachelors, I knew I had to read it, and let me tell you, I was not wrong, it is awesome.  Make You Mine was a fun read from start to finish. I read this book in a day, and it is a full length novel.

Allie Mauvais is our heroine, who runs her own bakery; and who has from afar always had the hots for Marc Dumont, our rich and luxurious hero.  Marc too has a deep attraction for the beautiful young Allie-Cat.  But Marc, like the rest of his family shies away from any Mauvais, as for 99 years all the Dumont men have been cursed.  The curse was set 99 years ago by Allie’s great grandmother, who was dumped at the altar by a Dumont.

Marc is in charge of running the family riverboat, and is determined to prove himself to his family.  When the pastry chef leaves, Marc desperately calls the agency for help.  To Marc’s surprise, it is Allie who shows up to be the new pastry chef for this two week trip on the Mississippi River.  She wants the exposure for her bakery, not to mention a chance to win over Marc. Allie doesn’t believe in this hex, though she does make money on the side with love spells, even if she is faking it.  Will Allie be able to prove to Marc that the Dumont curse isn’t real?   Is there truly a curse?

What follows is a wonderful and fun story, where Marc and Allie cannot escape their attraction for each other, as their relationship sizzles more each passing day.  Allie must also fight off the reactions of others (Dumonts & others who know the family history) on anything that does go wrong, as she is often looked at first to be the one behind the disasters.  Marc also has his own issues putting a stop to his grandfather’s dislike of Allie, and from the main Chef accusing her of voodoo.

The secondary characters were so well written, I loved most of them, from the Dumont Brothers (Nick, Alex, Beau) to Ella-Claire, a Dumont sister, as well as Allie’s sister Devyn.  It was a fun ride with them all, but all the way to the end, it seemed like this wonderful romance was doomed. Can Marc find a way to get past his fears to stay with Allie? Will Allie be able to prove to Marc that there is no curse?  Or is the curse real and the Mauvais girls will need to break it?

Macy Beckett has written a fabulous sexy and fun filled story, with a couple that is totally burning up our pages/screen with their hot steamy chemistry.  This is going to be great series, and I cannot wait for the next book, which I expect to belong Devyn and Beau.

The Lonesome Young by Lucy Connors – a Review

The Lonesome Young by Lucy Connors – a Review

The Lonesome YoungAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / The Book Depository

Description:
WHAT HAPPENS when the teenage heirs of two bitterly FEUDING FAMILIES can’t stay away from each other?

The Rhodales and the Whitfields have been sworn enemies for close on a hundred years, with a whole slew of adulterous affairs, financial backstabbing, and blackmailing that’s escalated the rivalry to its current state of tense ceasefire.

IT’S TIME TO LIGHT THE FUSE . . .

And now a meth lab explosion in rural Whitfield County is set to reignite the feud more viciously than ever before. Especially when the toxic fire that results throws together two unlikely spectators—proper good girl Victoria Whitfield, exiled from boarding school after her father’s real estate business melts down in disgrace, and town motorcycle rebel Mickey Rhodale, too late as always to thwart his older brothers’ dangerous drug deals.

Victoria and Mickey are about to find out the most passionate romances are the forbidden ones.

. . . ON A POWDER KEG FULL OF PENT-UP DESIRE, risk-taking daredevilry, and the desperate actions that erupt when a generation of teens inherits nothing but hate

Review:

The Lonesome Young by Lucy Connors is the first book in her new YA  series.  We meet our young heroine, Victoria Whitfield, as she is returning home from boarding school.  On the way home, there is an explosion, which the foreman who is driving her decides to check out.  It is there that Victoria meets Mickey, our hero.

The Lonesome Young is a story about a forbidden romance, built around a family feud that has been going on for many years.  Victoria is a Whitfield, who are the most powerful family, not to mention richest in Whitfield County, Kentucky. Mickey Rhodale, is considered a wild young boy, who comes from a dysfunctional family, dealing with drugs, alcohol, and guns.  Mickey is the best one of the lot in his family;  however he does have a violent temper.

Victoria, who now must attend the local high school, because her father is squandering away the family funds.   Mickey is immediately attracted to Victoria, and though she tries to keep her distance, the attraction for her is also there.  Right from the start, we know this romance is doomed, as the hatred between the families is volatile.  Victoria’s father is belligerent, and causes even more rift in the town, trying to keep Mickey away from Victoria.  There is also a side story with Victoria’s older sister, who is using drugs & alcohol, and Victoria is the only one who is trying to help her.   But the danger element is from Mickey’s family.  His brother Ethan is a major character, who just got out of a jail and is very dangerous.  Ethan’s mother (Mickey has another mother), is also a dangerous and scheming woman.

What follows is a tense story of two young teenagers who fall in love, but have to face many obstacles just to be together.  Can Victoria get past Mickey’s violent temper?  Will Mickey be able to distance himself from his dangerous brother, who wants him to help with his drug dealing? Will Victoria and Mickey have a chance at any kind of relationship?

Throughout the story, we learn about what and who caused this feud.  I liked Victoria, as she was a good heroine, down to earth, who tried to rise above the hatred surrounding her.  She was always there for her sister, and her little brother, who was adorable. But she did not have it easy herself, as her parents were totally unlikeable. Her Gran was great though, a nice character for the Whitfields.

On Mickey’s side, only his mom and at times his father, who is the sheriff were decent.  But Ethan and another brother were the true bad boys, who have any Whitfield in sight to create havoc, including Victoria.

The start of the book was devoted to learning more about the characters, the feud, and families.  Lucy Connors has written a terrific story of forbidden love, with two young adults.  The book description compares it to Romeo & Juliet/Justified.  However, I felt this book had its own design, and was very well written.  I understood the difficult situations both Victoria & Mickey had to handle.  The Lonesome Young was a very good book, with a lot of drama, difficult situations, family angst and a romance you want to root for, but even at the end of the book you still feel it is doomed. The end is left open for another book.

Only what starts out as a battle of wills ends up as a serious play for her heart. Because the one woman who refuses to be caught may be the only one Vaughn can’t live without

Review:

It Happened One Wedding by Julie James is the 5th book and another wonderful addition to her FBI/US Attorney series.   I love this series, and Julie James has risen up on my list of authors I have to read.  This is another series that is a relaxing enjoyable read, with a great story and romance… no stress other then maybe telling the couple to get on with what we know is coming. Lol

Vaughn is our hero, and we know him from earlier books in this series.  Vaughn is in a coffee shop, passing time until he meets his brother and his girlfriend for dinner.  Being an FBI agent, Vaughn unconsciously eyes the people in the shop, while he sips his coffee.   It is here we meet our heroine, Sidney, who is on a short blind date over coffee.  As Vaughn watches her, he can tell she isn’t too happy talking to the guy, and soon the man leaves.  Vaughn, who does enjoy one night stands with woman, decides to talk to the lady.  Sidney sees through Vaughn as a womanizer, and ends up pissing him off with her sarcastic comments, while he tries to pick her up.

When Vaughn gets to the restaurant, he is shocked to see Sidney, when she arrives to sit with them, as she is his brother’s girlfriend’s sister.  It seems Vaughn’s brother and Sidney’s sister are getting married, and they want both of them to be part of the wedding as maid of honor and best man.  I won’t give any spoilers, but to say what follows is pure fun to watch both Vaughn and Sidney having to spend time helping the happy couple, and they themselves can’t stand each other.  The snarky comments between them are funny.

Sidney, who is smart successful, beautiful, has come off a relationship that turned bad; she doesn’t trust men, and has a 34 point check list before accepting a 2nd date.  Vaughn, who is a hunk, lives for the moment and has no plans of commitment ever, is already crossed off Sidney’s list.  But strange things do happen, especially when you don’t want them too.

Julie James does such a fantastic job building this romance, despite their dislike for each other. James touch of humor throughout was perfect, and soon the couple can’t keep their hands off each other, and sparks begin to fly off the wall.  Their sex scenes were very hot, and we began rooting for them to open their eyes beyond the sex.

Within the romance, is a background story of Vaughn trying to uncover bad cops, and also Sidney taking on a high prestige job.  The secondary characters of Simon and Isabel (the couple getting married) added to the fun, as I loved when they were all together.  There was one scene which was a riot, when Simon and Isabel come visit Sidney, not knowing Vaughn stayed overnight. Well done.  I also liked seeing Cade and Huxley again joking around with Vaughn.

I can’t say enough about Julie James, who writes these fabulous romances of experienced, smart, independent, savvy couples, and they are so much fun.  It Happened One Wedding was a fast, fun, humorous, entertaining read, with a fabulous couple.  You need to begin to read this series, if you haven’t done so yet.

SINCE I SAW YOU (Because You Are Mine #4) by Beth Kery

ABOUT THE BOOK: May 6, 2014

When enigmatic billionaire Ian Noble sets Lin the task of “taming” his brilliant yet half-savage brother Kam Reardon, she eagerly accepts. She’s more than curious about the solitary genius and everything she’s heard about him. During their electric first meeting, her fascination increases a hundredfold. Kam practically oozes raw sex appeal. Lin is interested…very interested. But does her intense attraction and willingness to go places with him she’s never gone before in the bedroom really have to do with Kam? Or is her carefully hidden desire to blame for wanting a man she knows she can never have?

An elusive outsider, Kam avoids intimacy, yet never shies away from satisfying his erotic appetites. But there’s something different about Lin—a reserve he’s anxious to break. She’s a woman he’s eager to take his time withand possess completely. A sophisticated beauty like her would never want him anywhere but in bed, but he finds himself unable to resist her.

Immediately Lin’s smooth facade is undone by Kam’s overwhelming masculinity and by his irresistible erotic demands—a lesson in subjugation that leaves Lin confused, reeling, and open to things she never thought possible. Now, as the unpredictable nights between them grow darker, Lin and Kam are certain of only one thing: they’re made for each other.

REVIEW: SINCE I SAW YOU is the fourth full length instalment in Beth Kery’s contemporary, erotic, adult romance series-Because You Are Mine. The focus is on Lin Soong (Executive at Noble Enterprises) and Ian Noble’s half brother Kam Reardon to whom we were first introduced in book three-Because We Belong. Kam is a recluse with a brilliant mind who has created the next big thing in medical technology. Lin has been assigned to assist and groom Kam for his visit to the US but along the way she will lose her heart to the man whose public persona is less than kind.

The storyline follows the building of both a professional and personal relationship between Kam and Lin but Kam knows that Lin’s heart has been set on someone else for years. There will never be a chance at a happily ever after for Lin as the man of her dreams has found his soulmate but Kam is hoping to that he will be the one to open Lin’s heart to love someone else. As Lin prepares Kam to meet potential investors, Kam prepares his heart for the eventual fall.

The relationship is quick to build. Kam and Lin are both mature adults who know what they want but Lin’s heart still holds out for the one that got away. Kam, like his half brothers, is a man who likes to experiment in the bedroom and he hopes to draw Lin into a world where Kam is the only man for her.

SINCE I SAW YOU is a sexually graphic storyline with some light BDSM. Beth Kery writes a sensually seductive and romantic storyline where two people will find their perfect match while trying to navigate a business venture in a world of billionaires and executive class snobs.

Several of the previous storyline characters play secondary roles including Ian and Francesca, Lucien and Elise. SINCE I SAW YOU advances the series by approximately nine to ten months and will come full circle with Ian and Francesca’s continuing story.

REVIEW:  S.E.C.R.E.T. REVEALED is the third and final instalment in L. Marie Adeline’s contemporary, adult, erotic SECRET series focusing on a discrete organization for women. As I have said in my previous reviews-S.E.C.R.E.T. is an acronym Safe, Erotic, Compelling, Romantic, Ecstatic and Transformative. The club is run by women for women who want to experience their sexual fantasies without fear of retribution or intimidation. Each step requires their acceptance and the sexual fantasy must be played out to its end. And for each successful conclusion, the women are ‘awarded’ a gold charm symbolizing another step in their sexual transformation and liberation. The series must be read in order.

This is Cassie Robichaud’s continuing story and news woman Solange Faraday’s S.E.C.R.E.T. adventure. At the end of book two S.E.C.R.E.T. SHARED Cassie’s connection to S.E.C.R.E.T was revealed leaving a blind-sided Will furious and heartbroken. With their business partnership in jeopardy, Cassie and Will must make a decision as it pertains to the future of the restaurant and what it means to everyone involved. Solange is a well respected news woman who unknowingly stumbles onto S.E.C.R.E.T.S. troubles and is offered a chance to make all of her sexual fantasies come true.

S.E.C.R.E.T. REVEALED is a storyline told from two distinct first person POVs (Cassie and Solange). The reader is pulled into a story where two woman have lost and loved and lost again. This is their story-about moving on with no regrets-but also a story about finding the one person to share your hopes, your dreams, your heart and your soul. Where S.E.C.R.E.T. allows women to experience their sexual fantasies it will also push two woman in the direction of love and a happily ever after.

L. Marie Adeline has written a compelling and controversial series about empowerment and realization but it also shows that the heart can be broken. There is always a fine line between love and lust and, protecting the heart becomes more difficult with every encounter. S.E.C.R.E.T. and the series shows that keeping love out of the equation is virtually impossible when the heart knows what it wants.

The liberation of these women is intense, wondrous, seductive and provocative and, the men are not without emotions. This is a series about women’s sexual fantasies but the men involved are not mere robots and uninvolved. This is a story about gaining sexual freedom and finding love along the way. For the women of S.E.C.R.E.T. it is all about letting go and finding oneself but it is also about opening up and giving the world a chance.

“I, Cassie Robichaud, solemnly swear to serve S.E.C.R.E.T. to the best of my abilities. I will do what is necessary, what is right and what is within my power to assist in the execution of sexual fantasies for our participant(s)…”

And so begins S.E.C.R.E.T. II, which opens with Cassie’s initiation into this mysterious organization, one that helps women experience their most potent sexual fantasies. Cassie spends the next year as a “S.E.C.R.E.T. member-at-large,” not quite a guide, she’ll assist Committee members (including two new ones, Kit DeMarco and Angela Rejean) in recruiting men and helping to execute a new inductee’s fantasies.

After a false start with the first potential inductee, Cassie makes the acquaintance of Dauphine Gray, a 31-year old who works at the Funky Monkey vintage clothing store on Magazine Street in New Orleans. Geeky, gawky and easily distracted, Dauphine has no idea how attractive she really is because her face is forever in a book. Reading is her passion, music is her pleasure, and Dauphine’s all but given up on sex, especially after a painful rejection that still haunts her. Then Cassie and the women from S.E.C.R.E.T. show her it’s possible to reignite that flame.

Meanwhile, Cassie must work through her resentment over losing Will to Tracina and their future baby. But when paternity questions surface, Tracina threatens to expose Cassie’s S.E.C.R.E.T. membership to the one man both women love. Will Tracina expose Cassie to Will, and if she does, what will he make of his secret love’s S.E.C.R.E.T. life?

REVIEW:  S.E.C.R.E.T. SHARED is the second instalment in L. Marie Adeline’s SECRET series focusing on the SECRET ladies organization that aids women in their bid for sexual awareness. S.E.C.R.E.T. is an acronym Safe, Erotic, Compelling, Romantic, Ecstatic and Transformative. This is Cassie Robichaud’s continuing story and we are introduced to Dauphine Gray-a new recruit.

At the end of book one, Cassie was at a crossroads in her life after completing all of the steps to S.E.C.R.E.T’s sexual fulfillment. Having fallen in love with Will (her boss), Cassie chose love but discovered that Will and his former girlfriend were expecting and Cassie’s hard fought battle with sexual self-awareness found her back with the S.E.C.R.E.T. organization as a guide and mentor. Enter Dauphine Gray-another woman whose sexual self-esteem had been destroyed by a former love and the woman Cassie will help guide through her sexual fantasies.

Written from alternating first person POVs-Cassie and Dauphine-the reader is pulled into Dauphine’s introduction to S.E.C.R.E.T and Cassie’s journey back into the world of dating and sex. Dauphine is a woman quick to accept everything S.E.C.R.E.T has to offer but an auction to raise money will find Dauphine face to face with a man not on the S.E.C.R.E.T. journey. Billionaire Pierre Castille is a former fantasy male that will place Dauphine, Cassie and the organization on the brink of bankruptcy and public reveal. His need for Cassie and her subsequent rejection may force S.E.C.R.E.T. and the women-out into the open-and in Cassie’s case will destroy her chance at love.

S.E.C.R.E.T. SHARED is a novel with two intersecting and connected storylines where two women will fall in love but only one gets her happily ever after. The secondary characters add spice and sensuality to a storyline where the women never know what will happen next but are assured their safety and fulfillment. Women are empowered by their sexuality but it is never about power-it is about awakening the spirit, the mind and the body to endless possibilities.
