ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 18, 2014

Drew Finley was a crime journalist, until his mind couldn’t shut out the images of blood and bodies. Alcohol made the images go away, but also ruined Drew’s career and innocents’ lives.

Drew’s eager to make amends and he’s got a story that will help him: a profile of a local celebrity who may have been framed for murder. As he digs deeper, he’ll uncover secrets and grudges that will put the people he loves in danger.

REVIEW:

Reviewing books by Kelly Cozy is becoming difficult. How many times can I use the words OMG, WOW, and HOLY SMOKES? But I find myself yet again at a loss for different words to review her latest book except to say WOW, she blew me away again. In most books you normally have two main characters that the book focuses around with a few others mixed in for substance. Not when Kelly Cozy writes a book. You have your main character, Drew Finley but as you read the book, character upon character is added that adds depth and intrigue to the plotline. And the attention to detail for each person, situation or scenario is remarkable. Reading a story with so much detail transports me to the places and I’m in the book as a bystander watching it all unfold like it was really happening in real life. I know I’ve probably said that before in a previous review but it’s true. The first sentence in chapter one is “He knows who I am.” If that doesn’t grab your attention and keep you reading, I feel sorry for you.

Drew is a recovering alcoholic that let a crime story destroy his life. He has finally found a place to rebuild his life when he moves to Los Cielos and begins working for the Weekly. Normal is what he wants and that is what he has…for a little while. His girlfriend Evie is a little eccentric in a great way and she balances him out quite nicely. But once his attention gets focused on the local celebrity who may have been framed for murder, everything important to him gets overcome with his obsessive need to get to the truth. Jones Cavanaugh was the basketball coach that was convicted of killing one of the players. Audrey, the boss at the Weekly wants to do a piece on Cavanaugh and she assigns Drew to the story. And that is when his life is changed forever. After a meeting with Cavanaugh, Drew is beginning to think he is innocent so he digs deeper, talking to witnesses and anyone involved to get to the truth. But what he finds is not what you expect. And Drew’s reaction changes many lives forever. Could I see the ending coming? NO WAY. That’s the best part about reading a Kelly Cozy book, you never know what will happen and at the end you have to pick your mouth up off the floor. And then you are depressed because the book is over and you have to wait until the next one is written! That’s what happens to me anyways! This book is a great read and I highly recommend it and any other book she has written.

REVIEW

5 out of 5 for this reader folks!

EEEEE .. a brand new series by one of my fave erotica authors B.L. Wilde and Jo Matthews. Owned is the first book of what I am anticipating to be a smashing series that revolves around a mob family and one gorgeous woman who is stuck between a rock and hard place (pun completely intended … WINK) LOL

Trixie is on the run from a sketchy past full of abuse. She has been hopping from city to city and just making enough money to get to her next destination. When she is offered a job as a classy, clothes on, gentleman’s dancer, she decides to give it a try. Little did she know that she was about to enter a mob family business and meet a couple of men that seem to be destined to change her future.

Ryan is the manager of this gentleman’s club and when he first sees Trixie it’s instant “SHHAWING”. The attraction is mutual but before she knows it, Trixie becomes involved with Tony (serious douchebag and mob bosses son) and all that can ever be between her and Ryan is mutual attraction.

ONE BET … that is all it takes! One bet between Ryan and Tony places Trixie at Ryan’s home for a weekend of pure indulged lust … and the fire doesn’t just roar … it explodes. But these two know you don’t mess with another mob guys girl. Will these two only ever have their one weekend together, or will they find a way to be together?

SO YUPPERS …. totally loved this book. It’s a short read (bad B.L. and Jo .. I wanted more) but it was jammed pack full of story. I loved the build in anticipation for the weekend, the lusty internal thoughts and the turmoil of mob drama. There are flash backs of pasts that give you some perception of why a character is the way they are and perhaps wonder what can be expected in the future. The sex was HHHAAAWWWTTT! In my opinion, an absolute incredible start to what I anticipate will be a great series.

HAPPY READING!

excerpt

I took my place right by the pole, and even though the room was nearly pitch black, I could feel several people watching me. When the music started and the lights came on over the stage, I placed one hand on the pole and circled it, making eye contact with as many of the men in the front as I could. I made it all the way around and then bucked my hips into the cold metal, sliding up and down a few times before spinning around it again.
I had a few tricks in my arsenal, but I wanted to save those for a little later on in the song. Still gripping the pole, I walked halfway around so my back was to the crowd. There were loud catcalls and wolf whistles when I started shaking my hips to the beat of the music. They got even louder as I hooked my left leg around the pole and spun in quick circles until my ass was on the ground and the pole was between my legs. Using my hands as leverage, I planted my feet and lifted my hips, thrusting against the shiny object seductively.
Men from the tables in the back of the room rose from their seats and were closing in on the stage area. Figuring it was now or never, I got to my feet and shimmied around again. Facing away from the audience, I placed my hands high on the pole and jumped up, straddling it and squeezing my thighs together to hold me in place. Arching my back, I released my hands and used my stomach muscles to support me as I flashed some cleavage at the patrons. After a few seconds of holding the position and nearly falling out of my top, I straightened up and slid my way down the pole, shaking my ass and earning more whistles.
When I spun around, my eyes met with Ryan’s for a brief moment. I couldn’t help but smirk at him and toss my hair over my shoulder as I continued to dance. Was it possible that god-like creature wanted me? The mere thought of it turned me on more than anything ever had.
I made a full circle on the pole when I saw him waving a hundred dollar bill around, trying to get me to come over. Feeling overly confident and wanting to fuck with him a bit, I sauntered over and shimmied my hips just inches from his face. His eyes were locked on my covered pussy, and I could have sworn I saw him lick his lips. An image of him between my legs flashed through my mind, and I felt myself getting damp with arousal. Shaking my head slightly to clear it, I continued with my dance.
Every time Ryan reached up with the money, I backed away so he couldn’t touch me. He wasn’t supposed to touch me anyway. At least…I didn’t think he was. None of the customers were ever allowed to touch the dancers according to what I’d been told. Carlo had said that Ryan ran the club, though, so I wondered if that meant he was an exception and could do what he wanted. That thought both thrilled and terrified me.
Still, I shook my head with a smirk on my face and sunk down to my hands and knees. His eyes were focused on my tits, which were nearly bursting out of my bikini top as I began to make my way toward him, so without him even noticing, I pulled the money from his hand with my teeth.
“Thanks,” I winked as I rose to my feet and headed back to the pole to finish the song. I could feel his eyes boring into me until the lights went out and I collected my tips.

REVIEW:

I just have to say, as much as I do love my paranormal and fantasy genre books, these sports themed stories by Jaci Burton are fast becoming my 2nd favourite genre. I just love her Play-by-Play series and Holiday on Ice is a nice addition to this very hot and steamy series. This novella is Stella and Trick’s story, and we were introduced to them in Melting the Ice. Even though Stella and Trick were secondary characters in Melting the Ice, it was very plain to see the chemistry and connection these two characters had with one another and I was very glad to see Ms. Burton has written a novella for them. Their story is one about love and hope lost, heartache, learning to believe in love and hope again, and going for what you truly believe in.

Stella and Trick are not only perfect for each other, but they burn up the pages in this one. Seriously, I don’t know how Ms. Burton’s keyboard, computer screen, etc, don’t catch fire when she writes this series. Her heroine and hero are combustible in this one, just like all her previous books in this series. The sexual chemistry sizzles through the pages between Trick and Stella from their first scene together when they walk back into each other’s lives.

Trick always knew there was something special about Stella and seeing her again, only proves to him he wants her back in his life on a permanent basis. He’s ready to leave behind his playboy image and get serious with one women, Stella. Now if only he can convince her of this. Stella having been badly hurt where love and her heart are concerned, doesn’t want to tread back into that area because it’s just too painful. However, seeing Trick again, and spending time with him is making it harder for her to keep her motto of, love’em and leave’em.

The romance between Stella and Trick is steamy to say the least, but also has a very sweet and charming side to it as well. Trick is the perfect hero, he’s strong, sexy as hell, charming, understanding and very patient with Stella. He knows she needs time and space and doesn’t rush her into anything. He knows she’s always had one foot out the door in this ‘relationship’ cause she refuses to call it a relationship. After a misunderstanding and coaxing from Trick, Stella finally opens up to him about her past relationship and love. The scene where they finally admit they love each other, and then when Stella opens up to Trick about her past are perfectly written. They were sweet, touching and very heartfelt. Having their story centered around the Christmas season is just the right touch. It gave them the chance to spend time together Christmas tree shopping, decorating the tree, playing in the snow, going ice skating and just having fun, falling in love with each other during a special time of the year and seeing what it would be like to be with that person everyday for the rest of their lives. These scenes just added another layer to a beautifully, charming and steamy storyline. Oh and lets not forget the hockey scenes. Since this is a sports themed story, and our hero is a sexy hockey player, those scenes were supercharged with engery and action and made me feel like I was sitting at Trick’s games with Stella cheering him on. What can I say, there’s just something about a man in a hockey uniform that gets me going. 😉

Once again Jaci Burton has written a fun, sexy, steamy, and fast paced story about romance, love and hockey. It kept me involved from start to finish, and made me feel like I was sitting in my local hockey arena cheering on my team. I just love these sports themed romances, and mixing in a little Christmas magic to this one was sheer perfection on Ms. Burton’s part IMO. Who can resist a sexy hockey player anyway. 😉

Until next time, happy reading and Merry Christmas everyone!!!

How Santa Gets His Christmas Spirit Back…

James Claussen has played Santa for years, but now that he’s a widower, he’s lost interest—in everything. So his daughter, Brooke, kidnaps him from the mall (in his Santa suit!) and takes him to Icicle Falls. She’s arranged a special Christmas at the lodge owned by long-widowed Olivia Wallace and her son, Eric. And yet…Brooke wants Dad to be happy, but she’s not ready to see someone else’s mommy kissing Santa Claus.

Single mom Missy Monroe brings her kids to the lodge, too. Lalla wants a grandma for Christmas, and her brother, Carlos, wants a dog. Missy can’t provide either one. What she’d like is an attractive, dependable man. A man like John Truman… But John’s girlfriend will be joining him in Icicle Falls, and he’s going to propose.

Of course not everything goes as planned. But sometimes the best gifts are the ones you don’t expect!

•••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: THE LODGE ON HOLLY ROAD is the sixth installment in Sheila Roberts’ Life in Icicle Falls contemporary romance series focusing on the people of Icicle Falls. Although this is the sixth in the continuing Life in Icicle Falls series, it can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

Told from third person point of view THE LODGE ON HOLLY ROAD is an ensemble storyline that focuses on three families (the Claussens, the Monroes, the Wallaces) and the Christmas celebrations at Icicle Creek Lodge- a bed and breakfast where Christmas wishes do come true. Sixty something widow Olivia Wallace is the owner and proprietor of Icicle Creek Lodge and is renowned for her Christmas celebrations. This year, a number of guests will discover love, happiness and a future at Olivia’s bed and breakfast.

As the holiday celebrations build Santa will find himself a new Mrs. Claus(sen), a broken heart will find a new love, and a grieving daughter will discover that life does go on. A little girl’s hopes for a grandma and a young boy’s loss of Christmas spirit will give Santa pause for thought when the guests at Icicle Creek Lodge pull together to make Christmas a celebration everyone will remember. And a single mother of two will find love and happiness when least expected.

A few of the previous storyline characters make an appearance in a secondary and supporting role giving the holiday storyline a familiarity with fans of the Life in Icicle Falls series.

THE LODGE ON HOLLY ROAD is a sweet holiday story about loss, grief and a promise for the future for all three families at Icicle Creek Lodge. The bonds of friendship and love will blossom for three couples as they embark on a new life and a happily ever after at the Lodge in Icicle Falls.

1. How do you choose which couple will be featured in a holiday storyline?

Great question! And thanks for having me, by the way.

I must say, before I start playing matchmaker with my couples I usually have a theme or idea in mind. The Lodge on Holly Road started with the question, “What would happen if Santa lost his holiday spirit?” and moved on from there. What if a man who loved Christmas, who’d always played Santa for family and friends and then worked as a department store Santa, suddenly got all Santa-ed out? What would make a person want to give up on the holidays? (In James Claussen’s case, it was facing Christmas as a widower, trying to get through his first holiday without his wife.) That question of course, leads to the important story question, “What would it take to give Santa back his holiday spirit?” Of course, those weren’t the only questions I had to ask for this book since I gathered an entire cast of characters at the Icicle Creek Lodge in search of a wonderful Christmas. I had a daughter who thought she knew what was best for her father, a man about to propose to the woman of his dreams and a single mom longing to give her children a perfect holiday, wishing she knew how to provide those things Santa can’t pull out of his bag of gifts, like a grandma and a daddy. Bringing them all to Icicle Falls and weaving their stories together was both challenging and fun. I hope readers will enjoy it.

2. When writing a series, is it more difficult or easier to write a holiday themed storyline that features all or most of the previous storyline couples? e.g. ensemble storylines

When you’re writing about a town full of people you can’t always bring back everyone in every book, but I tried to make sure many of readers favorites put in an appearance in this one. After all, it’s Christmas and there are plenty of gatherings and opportunities for old friends to catch up. In The Lodge on Holly Road Olivia Wallace finally gets a little more time center stage. And Dot Morrison and Muriel Sterling, and Pat Wilder, who owns the bookstore, will all be present. And, who knows? By the end of the story Icicle Falls might have a new resident.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 10, 2014

New York. A restaurant near Park Avenue. It’s early evening, and dusk is falling. So is the snow. Jude and Carrie are only killing time while they wait for their flight to London. They don’t know yet that their life will never be the same.

When rock star Jude gets stranded in New York with his family on Christmas Eve, he has no idea that he is setting in motion a chain of events that will turn their Christmas into the most magical one yet…

No good deed goes unpunished, or so it seems to Jude and Carrie on the morning of the twenty-fourth of December. The previous day, they gave up their London-bound flights to someone in crisis. And now, a spectacular whiteout is grounding all planes, and Jude, Carrie, and baby Maya are stuck far from home.

Tired, hungry, and just a little panicked, Jude loads his family into a cab and returns to their hotel. But there’s no room at the inn, and not even a platinum credit card will make a difference. Snow is falling heavily, and the family is facing a very bleak night indeed.

How do you celebrate Christmas with no place to stay, no food, and no presents? Join Jude, Carrie, Maya and a cast of colourful characters in this fairy tale story of Yuletide in New York.

•••••••••••••••

Fairy Tale in New York, a Holiday Novella, written by Author Nicky Wells, is the story of Jude, Carrie, and baby Maya. We first meet these characters in a previous novel titled Spirits of Christmas. Although I have not read the story with which these characters were first introduced, Ms. Wells brings her protagonists to life with such depth, and emotion, I felt a connection instantly. Considering the turn of events that have occurred for me personally this year, the magical season of the Holidays spent amongst family, and friends, has brought more magic, and comfort into my life than ever before. I needed an uplifting, festive holiday story to continue the feel good vibes. Fairy Tale in New York delivers such, in more than name only.

After a three week tour with his Rock Band The Blood Roses; our journey begins with Jude, and his long time girlfriend Carrie, awaiting a flight to spend their first Christmas as a family at home. Jude is a talented musician, who’s passion and love of his music shines through in this story. Although moderately known, and recognized by many, Jude has yet to make the “big time.” Despite being an honest to goodness Rock Star…readers get a sense of the caring, compassionate heart at the core of this man, very early on. Jude makes a split second decision, and gives up his plane ticket home, to an utterly frantic man, who’s wife has went into unexpected labor Christmas Eve. Not wishing to be separated, Carrie, and baby Maya stay behind as well, and the little family plans to take a later flight out.

Enter an Epic winter storm that grounds all flights. Fully booked hotels everywhere they turn. A city far from home with no contacts, friends, or loved ones to turn to….and this families dreams of the perfect holiday, fast becomes a nightmare far beyond anything they could have anticipated. All seems bleak, until a chance meeting with a man named Ray–during an impromptu winter stroll–changes everything. As the story unfolds, we see Jude’s one act of kindness extended towards a desperate stranger in need, create a chain of events that turn the couple’s worst nightmare; into the most magical fairy tale Christmas they could have ever experienced.

Nicky Wells manages to pack so much hope, goodwill, and inspiration into 131 pages, it is astounding. Once I became aware that things were turning around for the better for this little family, I found myself utterly dazzled by the Holiday magic woven into this story. A readers faith, and trust in humanity will be restored by the empathy, kindness, and compassion exchanged amongst complete strangers. And a wonderful twist will teach the lesson of being kind always, to everyone you meet…because you never know what, or “who” that person could turn out to be.

Fairytale in New York lives up to its Title. It is a fast paced, fantastic read that will leave you smiling for days to come. I cannot recommend this book highly enough, and consider this a must read for any Holiday TBR list. Bravo Ms. Wells, I certainly look forward to catching up on this talented Authors other work.

The Surrogate Husband by Wynter Daniels – a Review

The Surrogate Husband by Wynter Daniels – a Review

The Surrogate HusbandAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / The Book Despository / BAM

Description:
To have and to hoax…

Wild child lingerie store owner Lucy Hamilton is a happily confirmed bachelorette. As far as she’s concerned, men are something best enjoyed in small doses, never to be allowed too close. Then Lucy’s mother tells her Aunt Bev that Lucy has eloped and is married—a tiny lie only meant to appease the dying woman…until Aunt Bev miraculously recovers. Now Lucy needs to find a “husband” for an upcoming family wedding, and fast.

Fortunately, Lucy’s ridiculously hot, ridiculously straitlaced new accountant Dex Levian is willing to be her stand-in spouse for the weekend. And that’s when the trouble really begins. For starters, Dex’s “involvement” with a client―no matter how irresistible―might ruin a merger he hopes will make his career. Worse still, the chemistry between Dex and Lucy is more than convincing―it’s sizzling. But for Lucy, falling for her fake new husband is the most dangerous thing she can do…

Review:

The Surrogate Husband by Wynter Daniels is not my usual read, but once started, I couldn’t put it down.

The will they, won’t they was rather predictable, but the story was still a fantastic read. The tension and sizzle factor was off the scale sometimes  The large cast of characters are well developed as well as captivating with their own personalities.

Lucy is a confirmed bachelorette after a failed engagement to a man who turned out to be a tyrant, (very much like her overpowering father). She owns her own business, thanks to her generous but aging Aunty, (who we find out would like to see her niece happily married before she dies.)

It has left Lucy with some emotion scars. She is now more a love them and leave them, before they leave her person.

Dex is Lucy’s accountant, and hasn’t met her before. He is so taken and drawn to Lucy upon meeting her that he agrees to play the part of her husband, to help Lucy make her aunt’s request come true.

But what Dex doesn’t tell anyone is the clause that forbids any client involvement as part of his employment contract. Anything that can go wrong, does go wrong. Misunderstood moments, embarrassing moments and then the naughty moments

This then begins to complicate things. Dex wants more than Lucy is willing to give. When things take a downward slide, where will Lucy land ? When they are going to be forced to come clean, what will happen to their temporary marriage ?

The Surrogate Husband was a fun read, and I had a great time dipping into their life.

•••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: Has this bone chilling weather been leaving you feeling down or trapped indoors unable to go out for some fun? Well worry not my peeps! Curl up with this cute yet sexy book, a warm fleece throw, and most importantly a hot toddy laced with rum and why not top that off with lots of whipped cream? Might as well splurge on this guilty pleasure.

Enjoy this fast paced read with Jamie Fielding and Wyatt Tremaine who are in the wrong relationships run into each other. The chemistry and attraction is instant. I admit at first I thought it was Jamie being emotionally vulnerable since her boyfriend bailed on her and filled her with doubt whether he is faithful to her or not but as the book goes on you realize her boyfriend is a mega jerk to her that she should’ve of chucked the guy sooner. The same goes for Wyatt, his girlfriend came off as a conceited, egotistical Barbie doll who loves herself too much to love anyone else.

Even though this book is really short at a whopping 50 some pages, the author makes up for intensity of the attraction and the couple love scene. She also has some very likeable elements. I really appreciated that Jamie was relatable. I like that the woman was voluptuous with curves because us average women need love too. Both Jamie and Wyatt were likeable though I would’ve desired to get to know them more had the book been longer.

Overall this book was a fun and sexy play on fantasies. So if anyone ever fantasized about being with a hot doctor or canoodling with a lover in a comfy ski cabin then this is your chicken soup right here.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 13, 2014

While trapped in a convenience store on a snowy New Year’s Eve, Marine Lucas Tate made a promise to his childhood sweetheart and future wife, Gabby—he would never leave her side again.

Twelve years later, he’s done just that…

While serving in Guatemala, Lucas survived an accident that left him with the supernatural capability of seeing visions of people dying before they actually do. To protect Gabby from his secret and those who gave him the ability, Lucas leaves her, drops out of society, and becomes homeless on the streets of Reno, Nevada—until, one day, he is given a chance at a new life by a stranger who calls himself Joe Smith, on the condition that he sober up and regain his physical strength.

Anger and sadness become Gabby Tate’s companions as she struggles to get by without her husband. In her search for answers, she finds herself caught up in a world she never knew existed, and suffers greatly at the hands of those hunting Lucas.

Reunited by fate, Lucas and Gabby must join forces to stop his persecutors. Through betrayal and heartbreak, Lucas must reveal his secrets to Gabby, who is now faced with the biggest decision of her life: Can she go beyond the past and forgive Lucas for breaking his promise to her not once, but twice?

REVIEW: BEYOND THE PAST is the second installment in Carly Fall’s contemporary, adult Supernatural Renegades paranormal romance series focusing on a team of former marines whose last secret mission to Guatemala left each member of the platoon with a supernatural power. This is former marine Lucas Tate and realtor Gabby Tate’s storyline. Although this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone without too much difficulty.

The focus of the series follows each Marine as he returns home to a different world. The military demands complete silence and secrecy from each of the returnees otherwise termination –from life-is next on the horizon. Life will become too difficult and lonely when the government orders complete compliance resulting in emotional and physical stress for each of our survivors. While Lucas roams the streets of Reno –homeless and hungry-his wife of twelve years finds herself the victim of a brutal attack and kidnapping.

The relationship between Gabby and Lucas has already been established but twelve years of marriage has been destroyed by the dark and dangerous secrets Lucas is unable to reveal. With the increasing threats escalading against his wife and his life, Lucas decides Gabby will be safer if he disappeared for good. But an unexpected meeting from a former member of his platoon will put everything into perspective when he is given a chance to clean up and move forward with his life. Enter the mysterious Joe Smith who makes Lucas an offer he cannot refuse.

We are introduced to Garrett ‘Honey’ Bloom, another former marine buddy whose specialized talent is for the ‘bears’. While Lucas’s ability to see visions of impending death leaves him haunted and exhausted, Garrett’s ability is more animalistic in behavior and nature. Joe Smith returns as the mentor each marine will need to survive as he begins to amass a private firm of protectors for the rich and famous. Brody and Rayna from book one BY SEA return when Lucas and Gabby get a bit of time for a little R&R. The government’s secret ‘Group Nine’ continue to hunt for each of the missing marines and in this there are many more stories to tell.

BEYOND THE PAST is a storyline of suspense, action, second chances and love. A government experiment that went horribly wrong has resulted in changed lives and damaged DNA yet we are no closer to uncovering the who and the why. I think a little more background information is needed.

Carly Fall writes from the heart: her heroes are human, vulnerable and real, and their stories are heartbreaking and sad. The little bit of supernatural storyline blends easily with the contemporary world of romance and love. Our heroes will get their happily ever after but it won’t always be an easy path they follow.
