ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 1, 2014

“What lies beneath my veiled perfection is the ugly truth—my truth, my reality, my destiny.”

Vivian Graham has an acceptance letter into Harvard, a badass tattoo, loyal friends, ties to marijuana, a penchant for Dunkin’ Donuts, and her pesky V-card.

Everyday she takes the Red Line to her job at The Green Pot in Boston while her friends enter the coveted, black iron gates to higher learning. The ramifications from a tragic accident have put her life on hold while time marches on for everyone around her.

After graduating from Harvard Law, Boston native, Oliver Konrad, moves to Portland to start his career and his life. Three years later, after a horrific discovery, he returns home to trade in his three-piece suit for leather work boots and his suburban home for a condo in Cambridge.

All he brought back to the East Coast was an aversion to pillows and secrets he keeps hidden behind a mysterious locked door. Oliver’s days are predictable and his nights are lonely until he meets Vivian on the subway. Her long raven hair, green eyes, and mile-long legs are achingly sexy, but the way she “innocently” fingers and licks her Boston Kreme doughnut can only be described in two words—complete torture.

When their paths cross at every turn, laughter is abundant, friendship is easy, and love is unintentional. However, their future seems improbable.

REVIEW: IDLE BLOOM is a romantic, contemporary, new adult storyline that focuses on twenty two year old landscape nursery assistant Vivian Graham, and thirty year old former lawyer and handy man Oliver Konrad. While Vivian struggles to make end meets, Oliver struggles with a dark and tormented past.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Vivian and Oliver) IDLE BLOOM follows Vivian and Oliver’s building relationship. Oliver’s brother Chance has been hitting on Vivian for close to two years but the moment Oliver walks into Vivian’s store, she knows she has been waiting for the right man. Vivian will soon discover that Oliver is her neighbor and keeping her distance will become more difficult as their attraction to one another grows. But Oliver hides a secret; one that consumes his every thought; and one that could destroy his relationship with Vivian when the truth is finally revealed.

The relationship between Oliver and Vivian is sensual, seductive and provocative. Vivian is a virgin whose desire for Oliver brings out the sex-kitten hidden deep within her soul. Giving herself to Oliver means giving more than her V-card, but giving of herself and her heart. While Vivian prepares for her classes at Harvard, Oliver prepares to go back into the past.

The colorful secondary characters are complex and controversial including Vivian and Oliver’s families as well as Vivian’s friends and roommate. Vivian’s family is over protective and is unable to accept that their daughter is now an adult, while Oliver’s family is supportive but know that in order for Oliver to move forward he must face the heartache of his past. Even Vivian has secrets that she has never shared.

IDLE BLOOM is a story of anguish, heartbreak, grief and torment. Oliver keeps secret his past; a past buried in a locked room within his house; and a lock that Vivian is determined to open. There are moments where tears will flow for a man who has lost so much but the tears will be tempered when the same man is unable to come to terms with the loss. Oliver needs closure and in taking the step forward he may lose the woman who is beginning to repair his heart. Our couple will be separated for months and in this I struggled to accept the ‘what fors and whys’. There are moments when you have to walk away knowing that you are not responsible for the happiness of others; guilt is a strong emotion and an ugly motivator when used in the wrong hands.

Jewel E Ann takes the reader through a roller coaster of emotions; the highs and lows of a relationship between two people meant for one another but one that is in a continuing battle with the ghosts of the past. Our couple must overcome obstacles, betrayal, buried memories and emotional ties to the past. Friendships will be destroyed when words are said in anger but sometimes these friendships are never meant to be.

IDLE BLOOM is an intimate look at two people and the drama that is their lives. Jewel E Ann’s astonishing ability to draw forth the reader’s emotions is a testament to her amazing skill as a writer. You can feel the intense sorrow and pain; the incredible love; and the moment when friendship turns to passion then to love.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 2, 2014

Former Army intelligence officer Seth Hightower may work with the Hollywood elite as a makeup artist, but he’s learned not to trust the rich and famous with anything more than a good time. Only one woman ever tempted him to break his rules about dating actresses—and she left him with the memory of a single night and a lifetime of what-ifs.

Hollywood “It” girl Gia Harris is used to being in the spotlight. But after she witnesses something that puts her life in danger, she needs to avoid prying eyes. Seth’s special skills make him the perfect person to keep her famous face out of the news, but their history makes him the last person she wants to be alone with. He’s far too tempting—and now, far too close….

As Seth conceals Gia from those who would do her harm, they can’t ignore the blistering attraction between them. And when they give in to their cravings, they reveal more about themselves than either of them has ever laid bare before.…

REVIEW: ONLY FOR YOU is the third full length installment in Beth Kery’s adult, contemporary ONE NIGHT OF PASSION erotic romance series. This is former army intelligence officer and Hollywood makeup artist Seth Hightower and actress Gia Harris’s storyline. Although this is the third book in the series it can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Some of the previous storyline characters play small roles throughout the novel but any important information revealed earlier is imparted where necessary.

Told from close third person points of view, ONLY FOR YOU is a second chance kind of storyline. Following a hot and sexy one night stand two years earlier, Gia never again heard from Seth. But Gia knew she lied about her career –an up and coming actress on the cusp of making it big –knowing that Seth wanted nothing to do with actresses or dating anyone in the industry. Two years would pass and Gia’s life is danger and Seth has been hired to protect the woman who had lied to him all those years ago.

The relationship between Seth and Gia is one of instant attraction but one built upon a lie. Seth’s experience with Hollywood actresses has left him burned and cold, but meeting Gia, Seth believed he quite possibly had found the ONE. Little did he realize that Gia was not truthful about her age, her history and her career-one that pushed Seth away-for good. When Gia’s life is threatened, Seth is reluctant to take the case knowing that he and Gia have a past. It is their mutual distrust of one another and a very long cross country car ride, that begins to fuel the fires of passion and love. The sex scenes are intimate, erotic and numerous. Seth is a man who cannot get enough of Gia and he likes control in the bedroom.

Most of the storyline focuses on the building relationship between Seth and Gia. Although our leading couple is secreted away, there is very little ongoing reference to what occurred that forces Gia into hiding. It is not until Gia is called back to testify against a Hollywood bigwig does the potential for attack become real. The focus of the story finds Gia the center of a media and paparazzi frenzy when it is believed that Gia is suffering with personal demons of her own.

The secondary characters and continued world building include some of the previous storyline couples for a sense of cohesion and familiarity. We will be reintroduced to Seth’s sister Joy and her husband/actor Everett Hughes, as well as Irish film director Rill Pierce and the love of his life Katie Hughes. Each of our storyline couples has some connection to one another-through blood, friendship and marriage.

Beth Kery is a master of erotic fiction where very little, between consenting adults, is off limits. Whether writing as Bethany Kane or Beth Kery, her storylines are definitely erotic, provocative and arousing. There is always an intense, emotional connection between her leading couples, and ONLY FOR YOU will pull you in from the very first.

The Magnate’s Manifesto by Jennifer Hayward – a Review

The Magnate’s Manifesto by Jennifer Hayward – a Review

The Magnate's ManifestoAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / The Book Depository / BAM

Description:
Jared Stone: Visionary, rebel, the tech world’s golden boy…and now the most hated man on the planet!

Bailey St. James: Survivor, powerful female executive, the only woman who refuses to bow down to Jared Stone…and the only woman who can save him?

When Jared’s manifesto makes him public enemy #1 the only way out is to make Bailey an offer she can’t refuse—a very public promotion to VP! Now, with a major deal on the line and tensions rising, can it be long before Jared and Bailey move from spreadsheets to bed sheets?

Review:

Jared Stone doesn’t have a high opinion of women in the workplace. And, when his “manifesto” was leaked to the press, his world was turned upside down overnight. As his blurb says, he’s a force to be reckoned with, until a board member with an agenda of his own, leaks the email. Let the rebuilding begin…………

Bailey St. James knows that she should have been promoted over a male coworker, but she keeps plugging away. She’s worked hard to get where she is and she is bound and determined to climb the corporate ladder……… Until she reads the said manifesto and sees red. Once she arrives at the office, she is summoned to Jared’s office and is ready to hand in her resignation when she learns that Jared is offering her the promotion she’s been dreaming of. She knows down to her toes he’s doing it to show the world that he’s not the pompous, chauvinistic pig that the world now thinks he is, but she can’t refuse the promotion as she knows that she can show Jared just how valuable an asset she will be to the company and ultimately prove him wrong.

They almost immediately leave for France to meet with the owners and representatives of a company that Jared is wanting to partner with that will set the tech world on its ear. IF they can tie up this deal, it’ll be huge. As things get rolling, Jared, almost reluctantly, sees that Bailey St. James is more than he thought. She charms everyone she comes in contact with, including him. But, once Bailey’s past comes out and could threaten the entire deal, will Jared be able to completely trust her to complete the deal? And, when his past is revealed (which explains why he thinks of women the way he does), will Bailey be able to crack his icy façade? You’ll just have to read to find out, and what a read it is……

This is the first book I’ve read by Jennifer Hayward, but it won’t be the last. Jared Stone started out as a first class butthead, but when you find out what has shaped his view of women, you can’t help but feel for him. You will ultimately root for him as well! And, when Bailey’s past comes out?! Wow! You will instantly love her. She has literally built herself from the ground up, and is such a strong and believable character , that you will absolutely fall in love with her. Hayward’s world building was spot on as well. And, for you who have an aversion to “instalove” (is that a word??), this one is for you. Even though they are both attractive, it takes a minute for the actual emotional attraction to build. The Magnate’s Manifesto is ultimately about coming to terms with one’s past and knowing that we are all, at one time or another, guilty of letting our past shape the way we see others, and ourselves. Well done, Jennifer Hayward, very well done.

Christmas Banner 2

Merry Christmas, BabyAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo

Description:
SEASON’S KISSES

Wild child Chloe Thompson can’t believe how much things have changed. She still can’t get enough of her sexy husband Sawyer, but he seems to prefer working to thinking about impending fatherhood. So tonight, a very pregnant Chloe is escaping her troubles at the town Christmas party.

Sheriff Sawyer Thompson hopes surprising Chloe at the party will give him a chance to set things right. But as the snow begins to fall and the wind rages, he wonders whether he can make it back in time. While mother nature conspires to keep Sawyer and Chloe apart, an unexpected arrival will require them to kiss and make up . . . and ring in the happiest holiday Lucky Harbor has ever seen

Review:

Merry Christmas, Baby by Jill Shalvis is as the title describes, a sweet charming Christmas novella based on her wonderful Lucky Harbor series. The final book of Lucky Harbor was released last month, as many people grieved that there would be no more of the wonderful residents of Lucky Harbor. But Shalvis pulls a surprise, and gives us all a nice Christmas gift.

Sawyer and Chloe were our heroes in Head Over Heels (Book #3), and we get to take a peek at them 5 years later, with Chloe just about due to give birth to their first child. It’s the week before Christmas, and Chloe just can’t wait for her daughter to be born. Everyone fusses over her, and all she wants is to get out and have a little fun, even if she is not feeling great. She worries with Sawyer continually taking extra jobs, feeling perhaps that the thought of having a child is driving him away. Chloe loves Sawyer even more then when they first got married, but with her hormones messed up, she fears he may be pulling away. In her state of mind, Chloe doesn’t know that Sawyer adores her, and is working at extra jobs to have more money for them and their baby.

It was great to see Tara and Maddie and the rest of the family as they try to keep Chloe safe at home. But with the town Christmas party coming shortly, she is determined to attend. She bribes Tanner and Callie to take her to the party, in the midst of an impending snowstorm.

Of course, with the whole town in attendance, Chloe goes into labor a few weeks early, and Sawyer isn’t home yet. Just when the contractions get worse, Chloe sees Sawyer is there for her, as is the entire town, including the doctor. This was such a heartwarming sweet story, and so much fun to revisit the residents of Lucky Harbor. A baby daughter will help bring a wonderful Christmas present to us all.

When someone from the shadows of their past proves a dire threat to their lives, passion might not be enough to save them

Review:
In Bed with a Spy by Alyssa Alexander is the 2nd book in her Spy in the Ton series. This is my first book by Alyssa Alexander, and after finishing In Bed With a Spy, it will not be my last. I do enjoy some Historical/Regency Romance, but it is not my go to, as I usually prefer Contemporary Romance. When I started this book, it caught my interest immediately when the soldier in the midst of a war battle was mesmerized by the beautiful lady on horseback wielding a sword to fight off the enemy…it is here we meet the Angel of Vengeance.

Two years later, after the battle at Waterloo is over, Alistair Whitmore (Angel), the Marquess of Angelford, who is our hero, attends a ball. Angel is known as a rake and a womanizer, but what most people do not know, he is a British Spy. At the ball, he spots a beautiful blond haired young lady, who had all men surrounding her. When she turns around, he recognizes her as the woman of his dreams for the last two years, the one known as the Angel of Vengeance. Lilias Fairchild is our heroine, who is a widow, with all the available men fawning over her. The moment she too spots Angelford, she recognizes the soldier who stared at her during the battle. Immediately, they both feel the attraction, with the chemistry between them igniting.

There were two major parts of this wonderful story, which I finished in one day. The slow build romance between Alaistair (Angel) and Lilias was so beautifully done, with each having relationships from the past that holds them back from totally trusting each other. But as they become involved in a suspense intrigue, their chemistry is off the wall, as they act on their feelings, thinking it’s just a fling. They were so passionate & great together, as well as being fun spies.

The second part was the ongoing suspenseful investigation to find the killers behind the assassinations by the group called the Adders. This was such a great mystery, with a lot of excitement and danger. Lilias, much to Angel’s dismay becomes involved in the investigation, since she finds out her dead husband was involved. They did make a great team, and there was so much action, we held our breaths at times if they would survive.

I could not put the book down, since I was impatient to find out so many questions that I needed answers to: Who was the mastermind of the Adders? Would Lilias allow herself to fall in love with Angel? Will Angel get past his horrifying memory of a past love, and open himself to Lilias? Will they survive their investigation?

The last 1/3 of the book was so exciting and heart-stopping. There were a number of twists, and betrayals that added to the suspense. Alyssa Alexander has given us a wonderful intimate and suspenseful story, with a fabulous couple. Bravo! I totally recommend you read this book.
