ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 13, 2015

The lost memories of a thief…
The first twelve years of Alina’s life are a black void. An accomplished thief, she uses her cloaking ability to pick pockets as well as stage elaborate heists. Digging deeper into her past sets off a chain of events that puts her, and the family she has just discovered, in the sights of their worst enemy.

…and the scarred heart of a guardian…
In secret, Lash Watcher Caine plots vengeance for the destruction of everything he loved. Branded by loss, he longs to find his one true mate, knowing that only with her will his heart fully heal. When his brief meeting with Alina is interrupted by her elaborate evade-and-escape plan, he knows there is more to her than meets his watchful eyes. But nothing can prepare him for the lethal power of her mind.

…collide at the fault line of destiny.
A brilliant villain with a vicious and loyal army behind her can only be stopped by one force: the combined power of four women who command the elements. Alina, with her newly-discovered affinity to the earth, becomes the linchpin to halting the desecration of their world. Thrown into a battle plan and a new family, she finds joy in in the quiet strength of Caine’s arms. But when the secrets to her past are revealed, she learns a terrible price has been paid in advance. The very magic that allowed her to live to fulfill a prophecy will forever deny her heart’s deepest wish.

•••••••••••••••

Finally the conclusion to the Solsti prophecy and let me tell you the Bonham sisters totally kicked ass. I love that every sister has their own personalities but steely resolve is what they all have in common. *fist pumps* So while we know Nicole commands the air, Brooke commands water and Gin commands fire it’s easy to conclude that we need a earth element to complete the circle. And guess who gets the honor to command earth, the one and only and thought to be deceased baby sister Alina. And just like her sisters, she also gets paired with a hottie Lash demon and who better than Caine who she ran into during a party when she was on the job with her father.

One of the things I really liked about this book was despite the height of the story arc, there was plenty of scenes where Alina and Caine bonded but at the same time the story arc was not sacrificed in the least. That right there was a nice balance and one I felt took some real skill as an author. Like Gin and Mathias, I felt like their story fell on the more romantic side. I’m not complaining when I’m saying this but Nicole and Brooke’s books fell a little on the…horny side which isn’t a bad thing but Gin and Alina’s fall more into the touchy-feely romantic side. My favorite part was when Caine transported him and Alina to a secret place near his hometown where they got to swim naked together, walk through rows of cilantro growing, having Torth butterflies swarm them and having sex on the grass near the water. You also get to know the mysterious Caine a bit more. Best scene Sharon Kay has ever written. Not only has this scene left me hot and bothered but stunned by the level of emotion in the scene.

Now for the other best part, seeing the sisters in action and using their abilities to its fullest. One word to describe it all, MAGNIFICENT! On what they can do with their elements were endless ranging from Alina opening the ground to drop enemies beneath the earth to Nicole and Brooke combining their powers to create ice knives to shoot at enemies to Gin creating fire nooses. Sorry to sound like a dork but the final battle with the Lash demon watchers, Solsti and Undead Demon warriors vs. Vampire Elegia and her doped up army of super plant drug goonies was EPIC. The only thing I had to admit was the death of Elegia was a little on the quick side. I felt like maybe she was hyped up to be this scary unstoppable lady doped up on her super plant drug even if she described to be frail but it was a bunch of trash talking and then the sisters killing her at a drop of a hat.

Also for those who are following this series alongside me, you also get to find out what happened with Alina on how she was still alive when she was thought to be “dead” and the sad price for her life. And even though Sebastian was only her adoptive father who found her, I found their relationship quite endearing because I can see how much he grew to love her like his daughter. And not to worry, all loose ends are tied up in this book.

To Sharon Kay, it was mega honor to read this remarkable series. I loved every second of the adventure ranging from the awesome heroines and their hottie Lash demon mates, blood racing fights and scenes to keep you on the edge of your seats, hard core love action, and best of all good winning over evil. Besides an author who can draw emotion out of me so strongly that I almost cried on a gym elliptical gets a thumbs up in my opinion!

THE HIGHLANDER’S TEMPESTUOUS BRIDE (The Highlander’s Bride #3) by Cathy MacRae-a review

the Highlander's Tempestuous Bride

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / Amazon.uk /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 11, 2014

Returning home after a ten-year absence, Ryan Macraig falls for a fiery, red-haired lass from the wrong side of the firth. He can’t ignore his need to see her again, even knowing she must be a hated Macrory.

Gilda Macrory trespasses Macraig land, but haunting memories of the young man she once met there draw her to the forbidden place. Learning he is Laird Macraig’s son threatens her dreams, for her father would never agree to a marriage between his daughter and their enemy’s son.

With pirates raiding the coast, bad blood between the Macraig and Macrory clans could cost Ryan and Gilda their love—and their lives.

••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: THE HIGHLANDER’S TEMPESTUOUS BRIDE is the third installment in Cathy MacRae’s The Highlander’s Bride historical romance series. Advancing the series approximately twelve years, THE HIGHLANDER’S TEMPESTUOUS BRIDE focuses on Ryan Macraig and Gilda Macrory. Gilda is the daughter of Laird and Lady Macrory whom we met in book two-The Highlander’s Reluctant Bride.

The storyline focuses on the simmering feud between the Macraig and Macrory Clans. When Laird Ranald Macrory calls a meeting of the local Lairds to deal with the recent threats by pirates and thieves, it does not go unnoticed the attraction between his daughter and that of his enemy’s son. What ensues is a hastily arranged personal and private declaration between two young lovers whose actions put into motion the growing animosity between father and son, and the neighboring clans. An attack by pirates against the Lairds and their villagers, finds Gilda caught between two families and yearning for the love of a man she had only known for a very short time.

The relationship between Gilda and Ryan is quick to develop. While each has been betrothed to another, Gilda and Ryan ensure that their future belongs to one another. The sex scenes are passionate but mostly implied.

The secondary and supporting characters include Gilda’s parents Ranald and Catriona, her younger siblings as well as Ryan’s family and best friend Conn. Ryan’s father wants nothing to do with his son’s choice for a wife but circumstances will change when the families go to war against marauding pirates and thieves.

Cathy MacRae continues to build upon the Highlands of Scotland, the stormy seas of an unforgiving ocean and the backdrop of Scottish castles and thriving villages. Her continued use of Scottish brogue and text brings the foothills of Scotland onto the pages of The Highlander’s Bride Series.

My only complaint is the quick resolution and reveal as it pertains to a major plot point in the story. The building animosity and mistaken beliefs were quickly remedied within a short period of time. There are moments of heartbreak and presumed betrayal that barely merited a mention but ones that could have aroused painful and intense feelings of anger and hurt.

THE HIGHLANDER’S TEMPESTUOUS BRIDE is a compelling and seductive addition to Cathy MacRae’s The Highlander’s Bride historical romance series. The breathtaking and stunning grounds of the historical Scottish Highlands stirs the imagination and startling wonder of times long ago.

Tempting the Pirate by Tamara Hughes – a Review

Tempting the Pirate by Tamara Hughes – a Review

Tempting the Pirate

Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / BAM

Description:
Charity Goswick thinks she is escaping an arranged marriage to a brute when she slips onto a ship unnoticed. Little does she realize that this is no honorable vessel of the King’s Navy – it is a pirate ship. It’s just a matter of time before she is discovered by a handsome rake of a pirate, who locks her in his cabin. And while she should be scared, her captor sparks the most unladylike feelings within her… James Lamont is on the ship for one reason, and one reason only: to track down his brother. However, his spirited little stowaway certainly affords plenty of distraction with her many (failed) attempts to escape. And each time, the unspoken – and unbidden – passion between them grows stronger. But as violence and danger mount on the high seas, Charity will have to put all of her trust in the most untrustworthy of men… the arrogant pirate who just might steal her heart.

Review:

Oooo, I just found a new favourite theme of book to read, Pirates!!! I’ve always loved pirate shows/movies, but now I love reading about them, I absolutely loved Tempting the Pirate by Tamara Hughes. It had everything I love in a good book. Adventure on the high seas, sexy pirates, danger and treachery at every turn, mystery surrounding a missing sibling, and a damsel in distress, all wound around a sizzling passion between our sexy pirate and damsel.

What can I say, Ms. Hughes has hooked me. If she continues to write about sexy pirates like one Mr. James Lamont, then she’ll have a new fan in me. I loved everything there is about our sexy pirate in this one. From the moment he stepped onto the pages of this story he had me swooning at his feet(swoon pillows a must when reading this one) 😉 All I could think of was my favourite pirate from Once Upon a Time, Killian/Hook. Every time he spoke to Charity or did something nice for her, which was pretty much throughout the whole book, made my toes curl. Damn where’s my sexy pirate when I need one. 😉 James Lamont is sexy, cocky, confident, charming, good at his job as a navigator, loyal and loving to those he holds dear, has a protective streak a mile long where Charity is concerned and will do anything to keep her presence aboard the ship a secret no matter the cost to him. I quite enjoyed watching our sexy pirate tease and torment Charity, all the while becoming enamored with and eventually falling in love with our feisty damsel before he realized what was happening where his feelings were concerned. I loved the scene where the light bulb finally went off and he realized he was in love with her. Of course it’s always in the midst of a dangerous situation for both our hero and heroine, but then again it wouldn’t be a dramatic moment of the story without some danger now would it.

Danger and trouble just seem to follow our poor heroine no matter where she goes. First her nasty uncle tries to marry her off to a despicable man for her dowry causing her to flee and winding up on a pirate ship of all places. Then she’s trapped in a cabin aboard a pirate ship with our sexy pirate James Lamont who has a knack for flustering her and bringing out naughty thoughts she’s never had before where a man is concerned. So what’s a girl to do, but try to escape, again and again, and again but with no luck. Those scenes had me chuckling out loud a few times. The chemistry between James and Charity sizzles in those scenes, but there’s also a playfulness about them, with witty banter that just flowed and allowed the story to progress about them seamlessly. Charity and Jame’s characters were well developed and written to the point they were able to effortlessly carry the story to the very end without it feeling rushed or hurried. Sometimes I find shorter stories to feel that way with the romance between our hero and heroine but not in this one. Ms. Hughes carefully played out the romance using, playful teasing on James part, witty banter, Charity’s growing feistiness and  slow to build romance that was always there simmering beneath the surface. In working the romance this way it worked to the authors advantage because it keeps the romance and the rest of the story flowing at a good pace, and never leaving the reader feeling like there should be more, or things should slow down. This made for a very well balance book between the romance, danger and mystery surrounding the disappearance of Jame’s brother David.

Temping the Pirate is a fast and fun read that will have you feeling like you are in the midst of a scene from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, but with a little x-rated reading material for good measure. I for one can’t wait for Ms. Hughes to write David’s book so we can find out what happened to him when he was aboard the pirate ship and where he is now after escaping. If his story is anything like Tempting the Pirate and he’s as sexy and charming as his brother Jame’s Lamont, I say bring it on. 😉

Until next time, aarrrg, happy reading matey’s.

About the book:

Arial knows the rules that keep her safe. She’s been following them since she was a little girl: Do not tell. Do not show. But in a moment of terror, facing an attacker intent on taking more than just her life, Ari has no choice but to unleash the psychic powers she’s been hiding since childhood.
Now, with her abilities revealed, a bigger threat looms – something that makes her question everything she thought she knew about her parents and her secretive upbringing. But this isn’t a fight she can face on her own.

As the head of Devereaux Security, Beau Devereaux is no stranger to the strange. But when he takes on a new client – a beautiful young woman with an extraordinary gift – Beau isn’t prepared for the extent of his attraction to her. What began as a simple assignment, just another job, quickly turns personal as Beau discovers he’ll do anything at all to protect Ari. No matter what it costs him personally. Even his heart and soul.

•••••••••••••

Review: In His Keeping begins with a little bit of back story so that we know immediately that Ari is adopted. The major kicker with that? She has no idea. And, once her adoptive parents discover that she has certain “gifts”, they know that they have to keep her close in order to keep her safe.

We then see Ari as an adult in the parking lot of the school where she teaches being attacked. She knows that her attacker intends to kill her and she does what comes naturally, even though she’s not used her powers in years, and unleashes an attack of her own in order to save herself. Her dad immediately goes into full protection/damage control mode and they go into hiding. And, as her parents leave Ari with their security detail in order to procure things that they’ll need, Ari’s world quickly falls apart and she seeks one of the two people her dad had told her she could trust. She enters Deveraux Security and knows, somehow, that her life will never be the same.

In His Keeping is a wonderful addition to the Slow Burn Series. Even though Ari has been sheltered her entire life, she steps up when the chips are down to try and save the ones she loves, even at her detriment. And, Beau Devereaux?? Alpha with a capital A! For some reason, I always find myself kind of defending the instant attraction that is prevalent in most of Maya’s stories (and in 75% of all romance novels, in my humble opinion). I’m not doing it with this one. After all, if there’s not some kind of immediate attraction, at least on one lead character’s part, what’s the point? And, to be honest, it really pisses me off when a fan of an author bashes them for what obviously drew them in in the first place. But, I digress. The action is almost nonstop in this one. And even though they’re attracted to each other from the beginning, there is most definitely a slow burn. (See what I did there??) As this story unfolds with its pulse pounding action sequences, you can’t turn the pages fast enough. I could totally see this one in my mind playing out like a major motion picture. And, I LOVE THE PARANORMAL ASPECT OF THIS SERIES!! I’ve said it a million times, and I’ll say it again. If you’re a romance fan and you’re not reading Maya Banks, you are truly missing out. Well done, Maya Banks!! Very, very, very well done!!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 13, 2015

A doomed woman. A dangerous and mysterious man. And an epic passion that cannot be denied…

Don’t miss Mal and Christina’s story:

Find Me in Darkness

Find Me in Pleasure

Find Me in Passion

And be sure not to miss the first novella in this exciting and sexy series by Julie Kenner (aka J. Kenner), Caress of Darkness, a 1001 Dark Nights novella.

***NOTE TO READERS*** Each of the 1001 Dark Nights novellas stands alone. (Caress of Darkness and the 2015 release, Caress of Pleasure.) The Find Me books are a true trilogy and are meant to be read in order.

REVIEW:

Some Background: The exclusive Dark Pleasures Club and the Phoenix Brotherhood are a group of immortal warriors and hunters whose mission it is to find a powerful amulet that will allow the immortals to cross between the dimensions. But there is always the requisite evil and in this the ‘furie’ will be searching for the amulet as well. As the name implies, the Phoenix Brotherhood are a group of supernatural warriors whose death will result in a rebirth by flames .

FIND ME IN DARKNESS is the first of three parts in Julie Kenner’s contemporary, adult paranormal/sci-fi fantasy, romantic suspense Dark Pleasures Series. This is Phoenix Brotherhood co-leader Malcolm and Christina’s story-a love story that has spanned the centuries but one that always ends in death for Malcolm’s mate.

The storyline follows Malcolm as he is on the hunt for his elusive mate-a woman he must destroy every time she returns, for Christina holds within her the power to end the world. When Malcolm detects Christina’s presence he is determined to find it within him to stop the endless cycle of life and death for his mate-but he will need the help of the Brotherhood to help keep Christina safe and alive.

FIND ME IN DARKNESS reveals a little history of the Phoenix Brotherhood; what became of their mates; and Malcolm’s duty to destroy his mate. As this is part one of three, the storyline ends on a bit of a cliff hanger where Christina’s life is in the hands of the man she once loved. The sex scenes are spontaneous, intimate and provocative

Julie Kenner’s world of the Phoenix Brotherhood is mysterious and intense. I am looking forward to learning more about the Phoenix Brotherhood, their history, and what drives their endless quest for rebirth and death.

Interview with Mike Thurston-Fitness and Cover Model

Interview with Mike Thurston-Fitness and Cover Model

TRC: Hi Mike and welcome to The Reading Cafe. We would like to start with some background information. Would you please tell us something about yourself?

Mike Thurston 2Follow Mike : Facebook / Twitter / Instagram / Aurora Athletic

Mike: Born in Leeds, UK. I lived there up until I was 18, then I moved to Newcastle Upon Tyne (Where I currently live) to study Economics and Business Management at University. I graduated, had no real idea what I wanted to do with my life so worked abroad for a summer in Peurto Banus, followed by nightclub work in Newcastle, then became a manager at Hollister. After working over a year in retail I knew it wasn’t for me. I quit my job, pursued a career in fitness, set up my own business with one of my friends and here I am today!

TRC: What were your dreams and aspirations growing up?

Mike: I always wanted to be happy and successful, but I never knew what it was that I would be doing. I always saw myself being my own boss and running a company of some sort.

TRC: What or who was the catalyst that sparked your interest in body building?

Mike: I can’t pin point the exact moment, it was something that kind of just happened. It was as though i had an urge to start going to my school gym, by myself when I was 17, and start experimenting with all the equipment. I loved the pump, results quickly started to show and it became an addiction.

TRC: Was there a clear, defining moment that triggered your desire?

Mike: Not that I’m aware of. Although there was this one guy at my school who had huge arms and I was like, woah I want arms like that.

Mike Thurston 5TRC: What have been some of the challenges you have faced in your body building career?

Mike: You have to make sacrifices. During my years at university going out, socialising and drinking was a big thing. I very much enjoying taking part in these activities, which meant i spent a lot of the time hungover and unable to train. When i started the company in 2013 i made a conscious effort to remove myself from the party scene and surround myself with people who have similar goals and aspirations. Nutrition is also a big challenge. I have no issue when it comes to working out regularly at an intense level. I love it and most likely will always love it. The problem comes when you have to pass on the foods you love to eat. I can still indulge every now and then, but there are definitely days which are tough.

TRC: Of what does your daily work out regimen consist?

Mike: Good question. It’s always different. When you get to advanced levels of training, particularly muscle hypertrophy you need to change the programme up every now and then. I might stick to the same routine where I work different body parts on a different day for a number of weeks, then alter it. It will also depend on whether i’m looking to cut or put on muscle. I won’t go into too much detail as I don’t think the readers will be that interested!

TRC: Have you ever had a work out or photo shoot that went completely wrong?

Mike Thurston Hold ON My HeartMike: When it comes to the workouts i wouldn’t say they go wrong… I’ve had some shitty workouts where at the end of the session I reflect upon it and think, yeah that was a crap workout. They rarely happen much. I’ve had a few shoots where I’ve not got on with the photographer for a number of reasons. Either I don’t like their vibe or they are just completely inappropriate. They tended to be back in the early days when I had no idea what to expect or what was the norm. Now I’m very particular with whom I shoot with.

TRC: Many photo shoots take the model to exotic locations. What has been your favourite location to shoot? Least favourite location (and why)?

Mike: Marrakech was one of the best places. I shot in a number of different locations, hotels, pools, streets, grand buildings etc. Marrakech is just a very cool place in general and the architecture of some of the buildings is amazing. Least favourite has to be in a crappy apartment in Manchester. I didn’t like the vibe one bit. In general if I get on with the photographer and the location is perfect it’s got the recipe to be a great shoot. New experiences stick with me the most.

Mike Thurston 6TRC: Nudity in modeling or acting can be controversial. Some pictures can cross the line between sexuality to pornography. What would you tell young models/actors /body builders just entering the business about nude modeling and photography?

Mike: Do whatever you feel comfortable doing and don’t let anyone make you do something you don’t want to. Some of these photos can end up circling the internet and therefore haunting you for life. Always be cautious with who you shoot with and what gets shot!

TRC: The modeling industry exposes you to many people and sometimes it can be very stressful. At times do you feel alone, surrounded by so many people? What do you do when the stress becomes overwhelming?

Mike: I rarely ever get stressed. I’m a very chilled out guy. I wouldn’t say I was exposed to many people. I let the public see my pictures and that’s pretty much it. I am in control over my private life and what I choose to be public. You do get a lot of messages coming your way, some good, some bad. The downside to this is not having the time to be able to respond to everyone and coming across as being ignorant. I would love to be able to reply to everyone but I simply don’t have the time in the day to do it.

Mike Thurston UntouchableTRC: At times, there has been a stigma surrounding the male model and the romance-cover industry but the popularity of the romance storyline has skyrocketed in the last few years especially with the erotic and sensual cover images. What is your opinion about the recent popularity and the very busy industry of the ‘romance cover model’?

Mike: To be honest I’m not that well educated about the industry of the romance cover model, so I don’t have much to say on that topic! The fact that I’ve been fortunate enough to be on a the cover of a number of bestselling authors books is amazing. So whatever has or is happening in the industry, it gets a big fat thumbs up from me.

TRC: Will you please tell us about how you got started in the modelling business? How were you ‘discovered’?

Mike: It’s all about your own self belief and confidence. I observed other models in the industry and thought to myself, there’s no reason why I can’t do that. I continued to go to the gym, stick to my diet and maintaing living a healthy lifestyle. When you eat, sleep and train good, you look good. A few years ago the selfie hype was none existent. Holiday photos via social media started to get a bit of attention from photographers I was friends with. I started off shooting with them, then the word spread. Higher profile photographers wanted to shoot with me, so I shot with a few of them. As soon as I started building up my instagram that was it, tens of thousands of followers later and everything blew up.

TRC: Do you know the number of novel covers that your image has appeared?

Mike: I do. Some are yet to be announced so I’ll just keep that to myself for now!

TaintTRC: Do you remember the first ‘romance cover’ on which you appeared?

Mike: TAINT by S.L. Jennings.

TRC: Do you have a favorite cover-romance or otherwise? (e.g. body building magazines etc)

Mike: TAINT! haha. I’m a big fan of audiobooks (self help, business, education) but no favourites.

TRC: Would you please tell us what you do to relax?

Mike: Most of the time it involves not moving very much. I spend most of my week moving around, working out, training clients, so it’s nice to take my feet off the ground. I like to surround myself with good people, go out to eat and have a good time. I’ve definitely got the travel bug, especially after visiting so many locations last year, so whenever I get time off I’ll be exploring the world. There’s so much to see and so little time, so I want to make it my mission to see as much of it as possible.

TRC: What three things would you like to accomplish in the next five years?

Mike:
1. Become world famous and highly respected in my work (my physique, my
coaching and my training)
2. Own a number of successful businesses.
3. Own a gym abroad.

Mike Thurston 3TRC: What is something that few, if anybody, knows about you?

Mike: I eat a hell of a lot more food than most people think. I’m also pretty weird.

TRC: On what on your currently working?

Mike: Lots of different projects. All to be announced soon!

TRC: Would you like to add anything else?

Mike: Thanks for reading and thank you for all of your support! If you would like to know more about health and fitness and the services that I offer check out :  Aurora Athletic

Shay Porter is curious as to why her boss, the king of mixed messages, seems almost desperate to keep her from discovering what’s on the other side of the guarded door at the back of the club.

Sliding out of her comfort zone and into Leo’s arms risks everything. Their friendship, the Vault, and most of all, their hearts.

Warning: This sex club does not carry the government’s stamp of approval. Contains devilish debauchery, delightful deviance, and dancing on the edge of the darkest of sexual desires.

REVIEW: A SHOT OF SIN is the first installment in Eden Summers’s adult, contemporary VAULT OF SIN erotic romance series focusing on three friends-Leo, TJ and Brute- who own a private sex club known as the Vault of Sin. This is tall, sexy, brooding club owner Leo Petrova and club bar tender Shay Porter’s storyline-a second chance at love story for two people who have danced around one another for months.

Shay is a sassy and feisty woman who has been attracted to her boss for months but an almost-quickie, weeks before, in the storage closet left Shay angry and hurt when Leo Petrova walked away without a good bye or an explanation. For months, Shay has watched from the sidelines as Leo worked his magic at the club but it is his disappearing acts into the underground bar that has Shay concerned and worried. When an opportunity presents itself, Shay is asked to work at The Vault but what Shay never expected was to find herself working the bar in an illegal sex club for high end clientele where the man that she has loved from afar is front and center in all of the activities.

The relationship between Shay and Leo is intense, dramatic and hands off. Leo’s needs in the sex department have him pushing away the one woman with whom he considered for a long term relationship but it is his needs in the after hours club that will probably frighten away the woman who stars in his erotic dreams. The sex scenes are provocative, emotional, seductive and arousing. Nothing is off limits between consenting adults. The Vault is not a BDSM club but a sex club for willing adults who are looking for something different in their lives.

The supporting and secondary characters include Leo’s friends and partners-TJ and Brute. Like Leo, TJ and Brute have a past marred by a broken heart and loss due to the lifestyle they have chosen. These three friends nurture and support one another’s decisions, participate in the imaginative and fascinating lifestyle, and feel the same emotional pain and heartbreaking anguish when rejection eats away at a lonely heart.

The world building takes the reader behind the door at The Vault. We are witness to mutually consenting acts of sex-for pleasure, for control, for comforting needs but at all times safe and secure in the privacy of The Vault.

Eden Summers weaves a seductive spell of sensuality. There are moments of intimate arousal and romantic passion; the intense need between two people is off set by the knowledge that Shay may not be enough for the man that she loves but in the end Shay and Leo will get their happily ever after. Here’s hoping TJ and Brute will find the same kind of love in the arms of a woman who will accept everything they have to offer…and more.

REVIEW: HUNTED BY A JAGUAR is the fourth release in Felicity Heaton’s Eternal Mates fantasy/paranormal romance series. This is jaguar shifter/Underworld Nightclub owner Kyter and elf/artifact hunter Iolanthe’s storyline. The storyline takes the reader on a journey from London to Italy; to the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum; from Hell to Prince Loren’s castle in the elven kingdom.

Shunned and abused by his pride as a child, Kyter has never had any need to return to the jungle except for the love of his mother. But her recent death brings feelings of murderous rage and revenge for a son whose unwelcome birth brought nothing but pain and sorrow for the mother he barely knew. In order to avenge her murder, Kyter will seek out the man responsible knowing that one or both will not survive. A mission to find the key to his location sets Kyter on a direct path with the woman who would one day be his mate.

Iolanthe is a three thousand year old elf; a strong willed woman who has no need for any man in her life; and a woman on a mission to recover an artifact for a client who does not accept failure. Iolanthe’s life will be terminated if she is unable to produce the item in question but finding Kyter, a creature whose DNA screams something different, in search of the same artifact will alter Iolanthe’s determination to uncovering the location. What ensues is a battle of wills; a test of knowledge; and a need greater than either could have imagined.

The relationship between Iolanthe and Kyter is fraught with rejection, anger, mistrust and betrayal. Kyter knows that Iolanthe is his mate but his mate wants nothing to do with a controlling male; she is remiss to accept his claim as her fated mate and refuses all of his attempts to acknowledge their mating. The sex scenes are intimate, romantic, compelling and provocative.

HUNTED BY A JAGUAR can be read as a stand alone storyline. Any important information from earlier installments is imparted where necessary with the mention of several players and the inclusion of a single character from previous storylines that allows for cohesion and familiarity. The introduction of Cavanaugh, Owen and Cait sets up the next two installments and storyline premises in Felicity Heaton’s ETERNAL MATES series.

HUNTED BY A JAGUAR is a sensual and imaginative storyline. There are moments of heartbreak and betrayal; passion and romance; graphic violence and thrilling battles. The locations are exotic and historical; the drama is captivating and intense. Felicity Heaton’s ETERNAL MATES series is a roller coaster ride of emotions that will seduce your mind and grab your attention from the start.

excerpt

Kyter strode across the strip of worn tarmac and swung his leg over the motorbike parked near the red brick wall.

It sank lower as it cushioned his weight and he patted the sleek black fuel tank of the classic motorcycle he had owned for almost two decades now. She was a thing of beauty and he doubted he could love anything as much as he loved her, or anything could come close to matching her looks. She was all spit and fire, chrome and black. A wild lady with a fierce growl.

He turned the key and she roared to life.

Kyter slung the backpack on, kicked the stand up, and switched the lights on. He revved the engine and pulled away, heading along the slick alley towards the main street, the bike’s growl reverberating around the brick buildings on either side of him.

When he hit the main street, he banked left and accelerated, speeding through the quiet night towards his destination.

A fae town.

It was the closest one to his club and he had been there countless times. How many of those times had he crossed paths with the male he was going to look for tonight? He didn’t want to think about that or the fact he could have found out his father’s location years ago and his mother would have still been alive.

The journey passed swiftly, a mixture of motorways and narrow country roads. Dawn was coming as he rolled down the gravel driveway of a palatial sandstone mansion and parked his bike beside a huge black Bentley. He turned off the engine and eased his leg over the bike, coming to face the mansion. Light fae lived in the grand estate. He wasn’t here to see them.

He walked to the right of the mansion, into the woods there, and found the entrance to the town set into a large mound of rock. He pushed the heavy iron gate open and stepped into the darkness, following the slick steps in a sweeping curve downwards into the gloom.

A golden glow lit the end of the tunnel as it levelled out and the scents of the town rolled over him. Herbs. Spices. Blood. Sex. This fae town dealt in everything. He followed the tunnel until it opened out onto a high ledge at the edge of the enormous cavern. Below him, stone buildings covered the huge base of the cavern, groups of different styles marking the different districts.

To his left, the tightly packed hotchpotch collection of white square flat-roofed structures of different heights left little room for the thousands of fae who passed along the narrow streets between them.

The witches’ district.

It was always bustling with activity, no matter the time of day or night. Most of the fae, demons and other species who visited the town headed there, looking for a potion or a spell.

Amidst the single-storey dwellings were some with two or more levels and bright colourful signs painted on their walls. Others had tattered jewel-coloured canopies reaching out from them, almost touching the canopy of the building opposite as their owners fought for space in the cramped town.

The scents wafting up to him grew stronger, rising from the copper stills, thatched baskets, and terracotta or stone jars that were on display outside the stores in the witches’ district.

Kyter turned away from the town and walked down the carved stone steps to his left that followed the curve of the cavern wall and led down into the town, ending near the witches’ district. Before he reached the bottom, he stopped and scanned the buildings again, seeking the demons’ district.

Banners hung on the walls of the largest buildings that lined the edges of the town, built into the rock. Some were covens, but most belonged to other fae species. He knew the mark of a local pride of tiger shifters and always avoided the area at the far end of the town because of it. He still remembered the day when a wolf pack had set up home right next to the tigers. It hadn’t gone down well. They had ended up dragging the ogres into the fight and several blocks of the town had been flattened.

If it hadn’t been for the quick thinking of the local succubus clan who resided in the glaringly red four-storey building at that end of the town, the damage would have been far worse. They had employed their charms though, easily winning over the shifters and the ogres. Make love, not war. A motto he had lived by once.

Now he was out to make war.

He spotted the demons’ district off to his right on his side of the cavern. The single storey buildings differed in appearance from those of the witches and the rest of the town. Smoke curled from the crooked chimneys on the uneven dark tiled roofs of the black beam and white panelled buildings that had an almost medieval look to them, lazily drifting up into the air before disappearing. Everyone in the town worked as a merchant, selling something.

Kyter hoped that demons sold information.

Or methods of summoning their kin.

He took the last few steps down to the cobbled floor of the town and banked right, making his way through the busy streets towards the demons’ district, hugging the wall of the cavern below the entrance where the road was wider to avoid the worst of the crowds.

A flash of silver caught his attention and disappeared just as his eyes darted to it. He frowned and stood taller as he walked, trying to spot what had caused the brief flare.

A woman.

He stumbled into a small old witch and she jabbed him in the leg with her staff. He muttered something he thought might have been an apology and stared after the female he had spotted.

She was stunning.

He had never seen a female like her.

She moved through the crowd like black smoke, disturbing none of the fae milling around as she slipped between them, nimble and graceful.

On the hunt for something.

He recognised hunting behaviour when he saw it.

She sidestepped, turned so she curved around a woman who had looked back at her friend, not paying attention to where she was going, and slipped back into the crowd, reappearing further ahead of him.

Heading towards the demons’ district.

Kyter followed her, bumping into several more people as he pursued her, unable to ignore the compulsion to catch another glimpse of her face. The need was visceral and something he had no command over. He couldn’t stop himself from tracking her into the darker part of town and trying to catch her scent. Everything on sale and all the fae and demons packed into the town overpowered his senses, making it impossible for him to pinpoint her scent.

She turned, her long black hair swaying with the sudden action, and ducked down an alley on the left of the thoroughfare, her back pressed to the dark brick building. Her gaze tracked someone in the crowd. Who?

He found himself tiptoeing in an attempt to see.

What the hell was he doing?

He cursed when he looked back at her and found she was gone.

His gaze scanned the crowd and he barged through them, shoving them aside as he hurried towards where she had been. Several of the people shoved back, almost knocking him off his feet, and at least one growled at him.

He almost walked straight into a vampire male, saving himself at the last minute by ducking to one side, down the same alley she had used as a hiding spot.

Kyter dragged the air over his teeth and huffed when he still couldn’t pick up her scent.

He looked at the crowd and then at the alley behind him. If she was hunting, maybe she had gone that way, where the flow of traffic was weaker, only a few people coming and going. He chanced it and followed the alleyways that wove through the brick buildings between the witches’ and demons’ districts, and grinned when he spotted her ahead of him down a narrow path between a set of white panelled buildings of the demons’ district.

The smile fell off his face when he finally got a good look at her.

Stunning hadn’t been a good enough word to describe her.

She stood at least six-feet tall, her dangerous curves clad in black combat trousers, boots made for kicking arse, and a tight black camisole. Black leather cuffs encased her forearms, elaborate silver swirls of metal covering them. Silver. The flash of that colour that had caught his eye. They were beautiful, but would offer her little protection from a blade.

She lingered near the end of the alley, watching the people passing, her back to him so he couldn’t see her face.

What he could see gave him pause.

Strapped to her back was a vicious long black and silver blade.

A merc?

Or was the sword meant purely as a visible warning to the men of the town?

She turned her face to her right and Kyter’s heart kicked in his chest.

Beautiful wasn’t a good enough word either.

She was otherworldly.

Long black lashes framed luminous green eyes and below the fine slope of her nose, rosy lips curved with just enough pout to set a man’s heart racing.

A goddess.

He took it back. There was something in this world far more beautiful than his beloved motorbike.

He took a step towards her and she melted into the crowd.

Kyter bit out a curse.

He had to stop letting her give him the slip. He strode to the end of the alley and halted there, scouring the throng for her. How the hell did she keep evading him? With his senses and her height, it should have been easy to keep track of her. Hell, he should have been able to just follow the wake of slavering men she no doubt left behind her.

He eyed all of the men in the crowd, on the verge of growling at them to warn them to keep their eyes off the female.

Kyter froze. What the hell was he doing?

He hadn’t come here to chase a woman as if she was a bitch in heat. He had to find the demon and discover whether he finally had a lead he could follow to find his father. Just thinking about the bastard had his heart turning cold in his chest and his rage welling back to the surface, fuelled by the grief that he felt sure would never leave him, not even when he’d had his vengeance.

He shoved into the crowd and scanned the buildings on either side of the wider street, reading the signs that hung above their painted doors. The demons’ district. He had taught himself to read the fae and common demon tongues a long time ago, unwilling to be caught off guard in any way during his visits to the fae towns. Jaguars didn’t like having wool pulled over their eyes and the towns often drew unsavoury characters who preyed on anyone who looked out of place.

He studied the wooden signpost in the middle of the street. He was close.

Another flash of silver caught his attention again and his eyes darted to it, quicker this time so she couldn’t evade him. She knocked on a door and it opened, allowing her to duck inside. The green door closed behind her.

Kyter pushed through the crowd to the small building and growled as he saw the painted sign hanging from a black iron pole jutting out of the white wall.

His mark.

What did she want with the demon he had come to find?

He pressed his back to the white wall close to the door, shut his eyes and focused hard, using his training to filter out all the sounds that covered the ones belonging to his prey. It was hard when people jostled him as they passed, shattering his focus. He clenched his jaw and drew in a deep breath, shifting the whole of his focus back to the building behind him. He sifted through the ruckus in the street until he found the soft melody of a female voice.

He only caught the end of what she said.

“Must find the key to Barafnir. My client desires it.”

Kyter’s claws shot out and dug into the plaster at his back.

He snarled as anger poured like acid through his veins, burning him up inside.

Barafnir.

His father.

She was after the same object as he was, but he wouldn’t let her have it. He needed it more than she did.

It was only a prize to her.

It was everything to him.
