Emory Cabell is leaving the lies behind her.

Finding out that huge chunk of your life has been a lie and that you’re the half-sister to America’s country music queen is game changer. Determined to meet the sibling she never knew and compelled to pursue the music career she’s always wanted, Emory leaves her small town and heads to Nashville. Thrown by the bustle of Music City and the cutthroat dealing of the business, she finds unexpected shelter in a musical partnership with country music’s baddest bad boy.

Zane has his eyes set on the prize.

Known as a man who never stays the night, Zane is reliable only when it comes to his music. Years of paying his dues has gained him the coveted lead guitarist spot on the “must see” music tour of the year. Hoping this gig will lead to his own single recording contract, he agrees to write a few songs with Emory but he’s blown away by the sexual chemistry sizzling between them and leveled by his feelings for this quiet woman with the beautiful soul.

Can love be more than just a line in a song?

Darkness and light…they should not work. But one night in her bed proves they’re hotter than the number one single they wrote together. When the spotlight sheds light on all of Zane’s past sins, Emory struggles with trusting him with her heart. When a duo-only recording contract threatens everything Zane has worked towards and challenges everything he thought he knew about himself, he recklessly betrays her trust. With his life at a crossroads, will he choose the music or the future with a woman whose love might just be his redemption?

REVIEW:  REDEMPTION is the third installment in Robin Covington’s new adult, contemporary Nashville Nights romance series. This is singer/song writer Zane Wyatt, and Emory Cabell’s storyline. Emory is Kit Landry’s (Temptation Book 1) nineteen year old half sister, and Zane is Kit’s lead guitarist and opening act on her sold-out summer tour. REDEMPTION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous storylines is revealed where necessary.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Zane and Emory) REDEMPTION follows the quick building relationship of insta-lust between our leading couple. Emory and Zane click; their attraction to one another is palpable, and does not go unnoticed by fans or the members of the band, and as such Emory’s sister Kit let’s our couple know where she stands if Zane destroys Emory’s heart.

Zane is a bad boy; a man-whore who he likes both men and women, and has no problem expressing his sexual desires, wants and needs. But something about Emory pulls at Zane’s heart, and their connection and sexual energy is perfect; their ability to write songs together is nothing short of gold-record status. Emory is the virginal, girl next door whose own music star is about to rise.

REDEMPTION has an ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Emory’s sister Kit Landry. We are also introduced to several members of the band-bassist Aaron Rice, and keyboardist Mike Leonard, as well as drummer Mac Giles. Zane’s extended family whom he hasn’t seen in a number of years shows a different side to Zane’s rock and roll lifestyle.; and someone from Zane’s past will set into motion heartbreak and betrayal. Emory’s world will come crashing down when Zane is offered the chance to star on his own.

REDEMPTION is a quick read; a fast paced story of romance and love; heartbreak and betrayal; music and the bright lights of fame. The premise is lighthearted and engaging; the characters are animated, colorful, and passionate; the happily ever after is emotional and heartfelt. The world building refocuses on the music and the musicians-the series took a bit of a detour in book two.

excerpt

I feel a tug on my fingers and I shuffle to cover the two steps between me and Zane. He gazes down at me, his smirk less playful and more intense. Just that one look and my skin flashes hot all over. The sounds around us fade into the background. We might as well be alone here in this parking lot.
He’s right. It isn’t just the music.
He stares at me for a few seconds longer, his expression shielding whatever decision tree he’s scaling in his mind. But I don’t need him to make this decision for me. I know what I want to do.
Look. Leap. Live.
“Come with me.” I tug on his hand and weave my way through the crowd, making a beeline for what I hope is my empty tour bus. Kit is occupied with her makeup and I hope Sandra is busy doing something else for a while.
Zane follows behind me, his hand still clinging to mine and his smartass mouth unusually silent. We cross the lot and reach the bus without any interruption. I open the door and step inside, dragging him behind me. The interior is cool and darker with the window shades pulled shut against the harsh summer sun. I don’t hear anyone else here but I need to make sure.
“Sandra?” When no one responds I turn to brush past Zane and lock the door.
I don’t even get to turn around before he’s pressed along my back, his hands reaching around to slip my guitar over my head. His warmth is gone for the briefest second and I spin around and catch him placing my instrument on the table alongside his own. Zane turns back to around, walks slowly towards me and stops far enough away for me to wish he was closer and near enough that I can feel the heat of afternoon pouring his skin.
“I want to put my hands all over you,” he says and my mouth goes dry. He takes my silence as permission to close the distance between us and do exactly what he said. A whisper of a calloused finger over my collarbone and then the same shiver-inducing touch travels up my neck until his large hands are cradling my face.”Em, you say the word and I’ll let you go and walk out the door. We can just make great music together and that will be it. Otherwise, I’m not going to stop until I make you come.”
I tense the tiniest bit at his words and I try to hide it but he senses it and smiles.
“I won’t fuck you here. You deserve better for your first time than the couch in a tour bus. And just because we have some fun today doesn’t mean that it ever has to lead to anything else, anything more. You’re always in control of this ride, Little Bird.”
His words soothe my only worry and I take my immediate future in my hands and close the distance between our mouths.
I gasp at the first touch. He’s surprisingly gentle this time, completely different from the kiss in the club. Zane’s tongue pushes past my lips and teases me, entices me to take what I want. So I do.
I grab his shirt and drag him closer, pressing our mouths together in a clash of teeth and tongues and hot, wet possession. He groans, his fingers twisting in my hair and setting off sparks of almost-pain behind my eyelids. I dig my nails into the hard muscle of his shoulders, hungry to have him all over me as soon as possible.
Zane maneuvers us around until the edge of the couch hits the back of my knees. He breaks off the kiss at the resistance and lowers me to the cushioned seat. He remains standing, looking down at me with eyes dark and hot, his lips swollen from our kiss. Our breathing is harsh and heavy in the silence broken only by his voice, tinged dark with need.
“I’ve been hard since we sang that song.” He rubs a hand over the bulge of his cock behind his jeans and my eyes are drawn to that spot and I can’t look away. “You keep me hard all the time Emory. I want you so fucking much.”
I look up at the edge of pain in his voice. I know it’s the good kind of agony, the kind that has kept me up late in my bunk, my own hands touching me while I pretend it is him. But I don’t have to pretend anymore. All I have to do is be bold. He’s in front of me and he’s mine for the taking.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 11, 2015

Letting go never felt so good.

Carlisle Queen is dying and no one knows it.

Burying the pain of losing her friends and her professional swimming career in a terrorist attack, America’s former sweetheart dulls her pain with drugs, pills and parties. The bomb left her with more than nightmares; shrapnel is lodged in her back and inching closer to her spinal cord. When the doctors tell her paralysis is inevitable, she decides to take her own life rather than face a lifetime in a wheelchair.

Mateo Butler isn’t anyone’s hero.

Reeling from the death of his little sister and his own cowardice, he spends his nights partying and his days ignoring the medical school acceptance letters and his parents’ concerned phone calls. Just a couple of months from graduation, he’s facing a future filled with shame and regret. The last thing he needs is to meet the woman who compels him to be a better man.

Can they save each other?

When Carlisle and Mateo meet, the chemistry between them is combustible. They play, party and hide their true selves until one night turns their lust into something more…something real. As secrets are revealed and walls collapse, what they were and what they might become doesn’t matter as much as who they are together. When the choice comes down to life or death, can love be their salvation?

Protector for HireKeeping her safe is crucial. Guarding his heart is impossible.

Haunted by his time in Iraq, former soldier Schwartz Patton goes off the grid, retreating deep into Montana’s untamed wilderness. Now, ten years into his self-imposed solitude, his brother tracks him down and asks for a favor. A woman is in danger, and she needs help…and Schwartz is the only one who can protect her.

Designer-loving city girls like Janelle Keebler don’t belong in the wilderness. Unless, of course, they’re witnesses to a murder by their psycho drug-trafficking ex-husbands. Still, Janelle can’t help the immediate physical response she has to her sexy-as-sin protector that leaves her wanting more than she could have ever imagined. Even if he does make terrible coffee…

Every word, every touch, every kiss ignites a need Schwartz thought he’d lost forever. He can’t stop the desperate attraction simmering between him and Janelle, even if he wanted to. Even if it means it could get them both killed.

•••••••••••••

REVIEW: PROTECTOR FOR HIRE is the fourth installment in Tawna Fenske’s adult, contemporary Front and Centre romance series. This is former US soldier Schwartz Patton, and graphic designer Janelle Keebler’s storyline. Janelle is Anna’s sister and Schwartz is Grant’s brother (both from Best Man for Hire #3). PROTECTOR FOR HIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous storylines is revealed when necessary. Each FRONT AND CENTRE Patton sibling is named after a famous US General (MacArthur, Sheridan, Grant) and in this our hero’s name is Schwartzkopf Patton

Told from dual third person perspectives, PROTECTOR FOR HIRE finds Janelle Keebler in hiding. Her psycho ex husband-murderer/drug trafficker/all around evil man- is on the run, searching for Janelle in the hopes of ‘convincing’ his ex wife that it would be prudent if she forgot everything that she knows and saw. Janelle was oblivious to her ex husband’s business and in this she believes her ‘picker’ is no longer working. Enter Schwartz Patton-the man who has been tasked with protecting Janelle; keeping her hidden in the remote wilderness of Montana. What ensues is a building relationship between two completely opposite personalities and the realization, for Schwartz, that to move forward he has to learn to forgive himself.

Schwartz Patton has been off the grid for almost a decade. Ten years earlier, a roadside bomb in Iraq wiped out his team, leaving a gravely injured Schwartz as the lone survivor. Survivor’s guilt and the belief that he led his team to their deaths finds Schwartz living with his guilt and his wolfdog ‘Sherman’ in the Montana Wilderness. But family is never far away from Schwartz’s mind, as he continues to keep track of birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations and births.

The relationship between Schwartz and Janelle is one of immediate attraction but Schwartz has been without companionship for so long that the regulars in the small town presumed our hero was ‘all sorts of crazy’ or a mute. As the storyline progresses, so too does the relationship between our leading couple, as Schwartz tries not to succumb to Janelle’s feminine allure and the scent of her designer bath oil. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative; Schwartz will lose his ‘phone sex virginity’ to Janelle.

PROTECTOR FOR HIRE is a sexy and romantic storyline that ends with another Patton family member finding love and a happily ever after. There are moments of giggle-worthy humor as we are introduced to the local townsfolk and their attempts to gather information about Janelle and Schwartz aka Triple M. And we can’t forget about Schwartz addiction to the toaster pastry-POP TARTS, and Janelle’s need for a great cup of coffee. The sexual innuendo is cause for a few guffaws and hearty groans.

The world building continues to focus on the Patton siblings and their spouses with a little cameo from the family matriarch Stella Patton. I will point out I am not a fan of the name Schwartz. I get it; all of the siblings are named for famous American Generals but Schwartz is probably the least romantic name I have ever encountered in a romance novel-by far-except for one female heroine named Brannislava. 😉

Anna Keebler makes a living being unconventional. Little does she know, Grant Patton is the best man in one of her weddings. He’s so perfect he’s practically a Boy Scout—if Boy Scouts were big, ripped Marines with gorgeous gray eyes, and good at, oh, everything. Especially sex. In fact, his only flaw seems to be that he hates marriage as much as she does. But Anna suspects the sexy Boy Scout routine is a cover, and if he wants this thing between them to be about more than sex, Grant must reveal the dark past he’s fought so hard to hide…

••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: BEST MAN FOR HIRE is the third installment in Tawna Fenske’s adult, contemporary Front and Centre romance series. This is U.S. Marine and amateur photographer Grant Patton, and wedding organizer Anna Keebler’s storyline. Anna has been hired to organize Sam Kercher and Sheri Patton’s (Marine For Hire #1) Kauai island wedding and along the way, Anna will fall fast and hard for Sheri’s ‘perfect’ brother Grant Patton. What ensues is a building relationship between two people whose view of marriage is less than stellar. BEST MAN FOR HIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

Told from dual third person perspectives, BEST MAN FOR HIRE follows Anna as she has not one, not two but four island weddings to coordinate in the Hawaiian Islands. When her wedding photographer quits after a rowdy game of paintball where the oblivious Grant mistakes the cameraman as a potential shooter, Anna becomes desperate for a wedding photographer. Enter Grant Patton, an amateur photographer and the best man at one of the weddings Anna has been hired to organize. As their ‘business’ relationship turns into something more, Anna begins to realize that perhaps she has been wrong about the potential benefits of marriage and love.

The relationship between Anna and Grant is sexual, sensual and one of immediate attraction but both of our leading characters refuse to give into the idea of marriage and a happily ever after. Grant is consumed by guilt from a past indiscretion; and Anna has been burned by her parent’s divorce. While Grant sees their relationship as sexy and fun, Anna begins to fall in love with a man whose secrets are tearing him apart. There is plenty of sexual innuendo between our couple-every word takes on sexual and provocative meaning.

The secondary and supporting characters include Sam and Sheri (book 1) as well as Kelli and Mac from book 2 (Fiancee for Hire). We will be introduced to Grant’s family including his sharpshooter mother who tells it like it is –there is no holding back Stella Patton when it comes to talking about sex and sexual situations. Anna will hire her sister Janelle as her island wedding assistant-Janelle’s story will be told in the next installment –Protector for Hire-where Janelle finds love with Schwartz Patton- a former soldier who has gone off the grid.

BEST MAN FOR HIRE is a sexy, passionate and captivating storyline. The characters are engaging, charismatic, and funny; the building romance is provocative and intense. Tawna Fenske seamlessly blends the previous storyline couples into an ensemble story where love will flourish under the Kauai Island sun. There are humorous moments as the brothers argue over who doesn’t want to be the best man; and of course, we cannot forget the bridal shower ‘gifts’ that brought about some embarrassing moments for the bride-thanks to her mother’s running commentary.

Description:
It was supposed to be a simple trip to the High Elven Kingdom. It started out simply enough, with Gabriel, Eden and their children, accompanying King Elrohir and his bride. They were going to spend some time visiting, some time exploring, and doing a little work on the forest. Nothing, however, seems to ever go smoothly with the Eagle Claw clan and what started off as a simple trip, turned into a nightmare as their children disappear while working in the forest. Eden and Gabriel are frantic; they don’t know which way to turn. Who do they blame for the abduction of their family? Where are their children? Why can’t they touch their life forces? They join their talents and go on a search, calling in every resource they can, but get no results. They reach out to to Empire for help, to use force if necessary. That is quickly brought under control as Lothrariel arrives. It is not a popular decision, as far as the grieving parents are concerned.

At Gabriel’s command, the Kings and Queens lead their armies into the High Elven Kingdom, but it is not Gabriel who will take the lead; it is Lothrariel, as they find he has finally regained his ancient powers. He searches for answers, but a power as ancient as his has hidden the answers. Who has done this? Why?

While Lothrariel tries to calm the irate parents, he greets the members of the council and their consorts in the High Kingdom, the children work behind the scenes to regain their freedom with the help of their friends. There is only one Elf can reach the children where they are, S’Larea. It is she who will lead Lothrariel to the edge of the land where they are hidden, and it is he who will shatter the shield that holds them prisoner.

As things come together the Eagle Claw children work their magic on those who have taken them, while S’Larea gathers their friends and rides to their rescue. Will the High Elven Kingdom ever be the same after they are through?

Review:

For the King and Elven Empire by M.A. Abraham is the 8th book in her Elven Chronicles series. For those who may not know about this series, the Elven Chronicles is a fun lighthearted fantasy series about Elves, with a wonderful cast of delightful characters. We look forward to each new book, as it is so much fun to spend time with our favorites, who always play a big part in each new book.

Gabriel, Eden and all their children visited the High Elven Kingdom, as they escorted King Elrohir and his mate back home. The plan was also for Eden to work her renowned fertility spell so that this kingdom would finally have children, something sorely lacking over the years. While Eden was overseeing her children as they were working to bring the damaged trees back to health, she did not notice that they found some strange vibes closer up the mountain. Not telling their mother, the next day they decided to explore further together. A veil opens and the children are kidnapped, and when Eden rushes to their rescue, they have totally disappeared, and she cannot sense them.

What follows is an exciting adventure that will find Gabriel and Eden beside themselves in grief for their missing children, with Gabriel calling all the Elven forces to come to help find the children. Lothrariel is one of the first to arrive, and takes control, utilizing his increasing powers to find the veil, and keep Gabriel from starting a war. However, first Lothrariel needs find how the veil works and it will take a little time, causing Eden and Gabriel to continue to panic.

Back home, S’Larea gathers the other children, and uses her powers as an Oracle, even if she is only 10, to help communicate with Gabriel and Eden’s children. Together all the children will plan a rescue attempt. While they work on a rescue plan, we all know there is no need to worry, as the Eagle Claw children are a force to reckon with. It was a lot of fun to watch them deal with the other children in the forest behind the veil. The territory has been blocked off for many many years, when Lothrariel was King before the Demon war. These people have not seen civilization in a long long time, and seeing these refreshing and wild children of the Eagle Claw Clan was an eye opener.

This was a fun story, though not so for Eden and Gabriel, but the children were a blast, and I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure. M.A. Abraham has given us another fun story, allowing us to spend more time with the children and seeing things in their perspective. We get to see Lothrariel come fully into his powers, and be the King he was meant to be. A wonderful adventure that will give us a look at the past, answer questions and sneak a peek at what is in store for the future.   For the King and Elven Empire is another fascinating trip in this wonderful world created by M.A. Abraham.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 25, 2015

No-one gets to choose who they spend eternity with.

Aurelia d’Arjou has vampires for brothers, but it is as a witch that she comes into her own power, keeping balance and control, using her strength to mitigate the death and pain that her brothers bring. When she is forced to take on the centuries long task of keeping the world safe from the brutal demon that wore her father’s skin, duty dominates her life. But rare happiness comes in the form of a beguiling, flame-haired oracle who makes the perfect companion…but for one thing.

Hame doesn’t want to be an oracle, but when a demon destroys the closest thing to a father he has, he has little choice but to aid Aurelia with his visions. Unable to love her as she would wish, their centuries-old friendship comes under attack when a handsome Welsh witch enters his life – and his heart.

As treachery and betrayal push Hame to choose between his closest friend and his lover, it becomes clear that when it comes to war, love doesn’t always conquer all, and happy endings are never guaranteed.

••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: BURNING BLOOD is the second installment in Daniel De Lorne’s adult, Bonds of Blood paranormal, thriller/suspense series.

NOTE: BURNING BLOOD is a storyline with graphic violence, M/M sexual situations, and demonic possession. The previous storyline focused on vampire brothers Thierry and Olivier d’Arjou. BURNING BLOOD follows their sister Aurelia as she is tasked with abolishing the demon that devastated their earlier lives. But first Aurelia must locate the key and the portal back to the other realm.

Told from several third person perspectives, following three separate timelines spanning over six hundred years beginning in 1390, BURNING BLOOD follows Aurelia D’Arjou, a powerful witch who has endured violent abuse at the hands of her father. When the time came to destroy the man who had caused so much pain and bloodshed, Aurelia had no idea that she was about to unleash a demon into the world of man. For six hundred years Aurelia will seek out the demon known as Xadrak, in all of his incarnations and disguises, in the hopes of pushing the monster back through to the other realm.

The events in BURNING BLOOD run parallel to book one BECKONING BLOOD and some of the timeline overlaps wherein we will catch a glimpse of Thierry and Olivier D’Arjou (Aurelia’s vampire brothers) destructive natures as they travel through Europe and beyond. I suspect the two storylines will eventually merge as the brothers and Aurelia seek vengeance for a six hundred year old betrayal and abuse at the hands of their demon-possessed father.

BURNING BLOOD is an ensemble storyline with several interconnected and interwoven plots relevant to the action and build up of the suspense and horror. Hame is an oracle, whose mentor was killed by the demon, and in this, Hame will become the oracle to Aurelia D’Arjou. Aurelia’s love for Hame will be challenged when Carn, a male witch who has yet to come into his powers, catches Hame’s heart. Centuries will pass; bonds will be made; lovers will come and go, but through it all Aurelia’s love for Hame remains; and Hame’s love for Carn is ever lasting. Our leading characters will struggle with their wants and desires; jealous rivals; and a dangerous demonic evil. Immortality, magic and the ability to wield its’ power is central to the plot as the storyline unfolds.

Daniel DeLorne’s grasp of the dark and dangerous world of the demon, witches and magic is filled with passion, colorful and magnetic characters, and a love that spans centuries and time. The destructive nature of jealousy will force friends apart; the intimate love scenes are intense and dramatic; no one is safe when the demon demands entry into the body and mind. BURNING BLOOD is graphic in its presentation; impassioned in its friendship; burning with the immortality of love.

Review:

I am going to gush throughout this review, but THE GILDED CAGE, book two of the Surrender Series by Lauren Smith is just that good! We finally have the story of Fenn, the lost Lockwood twin. I don’t think it’s a spoiler anymore that Fenn survived his childhood kidnapping. He just doesn’t remember who he is due to the torture from his kidnappers. Well, Fenn has been living in Colorado and is a bull rider. Yes, our Fenn is the exact opposite of his twin Emery. He works the land and loves roping a calf or woman or two! Hayden is our heroine from Long Island. She flew to Colorado to “save” Fenn and really did save him!! It seems that the twins have that magical connection and when Emery and Sophie were in danger he lost control of the bull he was riding and Hayden, wearing a red Valentino, jumped into the arena to distract the bull. You would think our hero would love being saved by a sexy redhead, but he is a Dominant and he doesn’t appreciate the “buckle bunny” who risked her own life. Yes, Fenn thinks our Hayden is a rodeo groupie!

I know that this novel is being promoted as BDSM, but I loved how Fenn has this Dominant side and isn’t ashamed of it and makes it work in his world. It seems very natural to him. Clubs are so passe’ after reading about the props a real man can use! Fenn meets our very dominant submissive and is going to teach her a thing or two! Hayden never was able to meet a Dominant at her club back home, she was viewed as too hard to handle! Fenn doesn’t mind her sassiness or spunk! As with THE GILDED CUFF, this is really a great mystery with a scorching hot love story! The man who hired the kidnappers is still at large and knows that Fenn is alive. Life in Colorado is just as dangerous as Long Island when a hired assassin arrives to kill our couple. His memories are slowly coming back, but does Fenn want to leave the only world that he knows and the family that basically adopted him?

Fenn and Hayden return to Long Island to meet the family that lost him so many years ago. I was crying when he was reunited with his family. The twins are still in danger, but can they unmask the person who kidnapped them as children? The ending is action packed with a large dose of steamy action. You will love this novel, I think I enjoyed it more than the first book and that’s saying something! I guess it’s that cowboy element. Fenn was so swoon-worthy and a true hero! He treasures Hayden and lets her become the woman she wants to be. The story really doesn’t get lost amidst the steamy love scenes! That’s a winner for me! I hope that everyone will love this novel! I can’t wait until the next one…..

About the book: Release Date June 9, 2015

Eric Pate is used to making his own rules—as the director of the PARA Unit, he is the boss. Everyone rushes to obey his commands, and no one knows his secrets. No one ever gets too close to him. But then he meets her.

Ella Lancaster is tired of being a prisoner. She escaped one hell just to find herself in another, but Eric doesn’t consider her containment with his agents as punishment. He actually thinks it is a form of protection. But Eric is so very wrong. Ella doesn’t need protecting, not for anyone or anything.

But when the PARA Unit comes under attack, Ella and Eric both find themselves battling a supernatural beast that they never expected. Forced to join forces, to make a deal, Ella and Eric are soon fighting side-by-side, and their attraction for each other can’t be contained or controlled. Hot. Wild. Consuming. Ella’s deal with her devil is soon taking over her life.

And as Eric falls deeper and deeper under the mysterious Ella’s spell, his legendary control begins to crack. The beast that he has kept chained so carefully inside rises to the surface. Unfortunately, when the devil loses his control…there is real hell to pay.

REVIEW: DEAL WITH THE DEVIL is the fourth installment in Cynthia Eden’s adult, contemporary Purgatory paranormal romance series. Purgatory is an island prison for the supernatural-those that cannot be controlled and are a danger to themselves and everyone else. This is PARA Unit director Eric Pate, and Ella Lancaster’s storyline. DEAL WITH THE DEVIL can be read as a stand alone but for background information and enjoyment, I suggest reading the series in order.

Told from alternating third person perspectives (Eric and Ella) DEAL WITH THE DEVIL follows the continued ‘imprisonment’ of Ella Lancaster, and the PARA Unit director’s explosive attraction to a woman whose species (or origins) is unknown. Ella ia a woman who had been imprisoned by a monster; for years she was tortured and abused, tested and retested, drained of blood and left to die. Someone or something was using Ella’s blood. Upon her ‘rescue’ Ella found she had traded one prison for another, regardless of the furnishing and trappings made to look like she was living a normal life. As the PARA doctors continued to run tests on Ella’s blood, Eric Pate found himself drawn to the woman who was secluded for her own protection, not imprisoned against her wishes.

Throughout the series Eric Pate has been an enigma. He is a man who demands obedience of those he commands; his control over the others is unquestioned; but he is also a man whose personality was questionable. Eric had secrets; dark and dangerous secrets, if revealed, could compromise his position within the PARA Unit.

The relationship between Ella and Eric is one of immediate attraction but Ella believes she was betrayed by the very people who aided in her rescue including Eric Pate –The PARA Unit commander and a man who isn’t quite human himself. What ensues is a mutual attraction between Ella and Eric, one that Ella believes is fated for her kind. Eric refuses to give in to the myth of fated mates, and although his need for Ella cannot be explained, Eric is determined to save Ella from whatever is hunting the woman of his heart even if it mean revealing the truth about his ‘second nature’. The $ex scenes are intimate, aggressive and compelling without the ‘over the top’ erotic factor.

The secondary and supporting characters include all of the previous storyline couples: Duncan and Holly, Shane and Olivia, Connor and Chloe. We are also introduced to the man responsible for Ella’s powers; and the beast who will stop at nothing to get her back. By way of the storyline premise, we are also introduced to a new breed of hybrid supernaturals, and the possibility of something more. Lawrence’s storyline may be next on the horizon.

DEAL WITH THE DEVIL is a story with action, mystery, suspense and romance. Cynthia Eden will capture your heart and your imagination. Her characters are likeable, engaging and intense; her storyline emotional, passionate and intriguing; the world building continues to grab your attention-always leaving you wanting more !

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 23, 2014

He’s a man with a beast inside…

Connor Marrok never intended to work for the Seattle Para Unit. He’s not one of the good guys—he’s a real monster, and the beast he carries doesn’t exactly play nicely. But now he finds himself being blackmailed into a new assignment. It’s supposed to be his last gig. His mission? Protect the beautiful Chloe Quick. Keep her alive. Destroy her enemies. Easy enough…until he starts to fall for Chloe.

She just wants to escape.

Chloe is tired of being a prisoner. She wants to get away from her Para Unit guard and run fast into the night. So what if Connor is the sexiest guy she’s ever met? Chloe knows trouble when she sees it, and Connor is one big, dangerous package of trouble. But, when an obsessed werewolf begins stalking Chloe, she realizes that her paranormal bodyguard may just be the one man she needs the most.

Their attraction is primal.

Every moment that Chloe and Connor spend together increases their attraction. Chloe has never felt a need so strong or a desire so dark. The beast that Chloe carries inside has always been silent, but Connor is stirring up her animal instincts. And as the danger and desire begin to twist together, Chloe wonders just how far she’d be willing to go…in order to spend one more night in Connor’s arms.

REVIEW: CHARMING THE BEAST is the third installment in Cynthia Eden’s paranormal, adult, contemporary Purgatory romance series. Purgatory is an island prison for the most powerful of supernatural criminals. This is Para Unit Agent and crossover hybrid Connor Marrok and Chloe Quick’s storyline who were introduced to one another in the previous book. Although this is the third book in the series is can be read as a stand alone without too much difficult but I recommend reading in order for background and detailed information about the previous storyline couples and premise.

Connor Marrok is a cross-over. A supernatural being ½ vampire/ ½ werewolf and all alpha male. He is a man whose younger years have resulted in physical and emotional scars that will never heal. His wolf wants Chloe Quick-the daughter of the man who has set out to destroy the FBI’s Seattle Para Unit-and the man who tried to destroy Chloe’s life.

Chloe is under the Para Unit’s protection but her freedom and choices are no longer her own. Something about Chloe’s DNA has changed and she is now the focus of a number of werewolf packs; she has become the number one target for a man hoping to make her his own. As the wolves begin to circle, someone is willing to sacrifice Chloe for information and a chance to end the cycle of attacks.

The attraction between Chloe and Connor is immediate; a friends to lovers storyline that focuses on Connor’s need to protect the woman he needs to claim as his mate. But Connor believes he is not the right man for Chloe and tries miserably but fails to keep his distance.

The world building continues as more agents of the Para Unit are introduced and Purgatory continues to house the baddest of the bad. The secondary characters include all of the previous storyline couples as well as the agents and Unit commander Eric Pate. Eric is an enigma; an alpha male; the boss; the man in charge and he is nobody’s friend. Eric is a man who is willing to risk any or all of his agents to ensure they get their ‘man’. In this, he is a character whose intent is questionable but also a character who has many secrets that have yet to be revealed. I believe his story is next.

If you are a fan of the paranormal shifter romance storylines, then Cynthia Eden’s PURGATORY series is for you. There is a little bit of everything supernatural: werewolves, vampires, Dijinn, magic and more. The characters are for the most part likeable; their stories are heartbreaking; sometimes tragic; always intense.

Ravaged (Eternal Guardians 7.5) by Elisabeth Naughton-a review

RAVAGED (Eternal Guardians 7.5) by Elisabeth Naughton-a review

Ravaged

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / Amazon.uk /

ABOUT THE BOOK: June 9, 2015

Ari—Once an Eternal Guardian, now he’s nothing but a rogue mercenary with one singular focus: revenge.

His guardian brothers all think he’s dead, but Ari is very much alive in the human realm, chipping away at Zeus’s Sirens every chance he can, reveling in his brutality and anonymity. Until, that is, he abducts the wrong female and his identity is finally exposed. It will take more than the Eternal Guardians, more even than the gods to rein Ari in after everything he’s done. It may just take the courage of one woman willing to stand up to a warrior who’s become a savage.

•••••••••••••••

REVIEW: RAVAGED (Eternal Guardians 7.5) by Elisabeth Naughton is the latest installment in the 1001 Dark Nights novella series. This is rogue Argonaut warrior Ari (Aristokles), and nymph Daphne’s storyline. Elisabeth Naughton’s Eternal Guardians paranormal romance, fantasy series is based in Greek mythology, prophecy and history.

RAVAGED follows Daphne, a Siren in training, who has been tasked, by Zeus, to kill Aristokles. Ari currently lives in the human realm, and the stories reveal that Ari is a monster; a dark and dangerous rogue Argonaut, who out of revenge and grief following the murder of his first mate, tortures and kills the creatures responsible for her death-the Sirens. Daphne, not quite a Siren, must seduce and destroy Aristokles before she is allowed entry in the Siren caste. What ensues is the building relationship between Ari and Daphne, and the revelation that Ari’s acts of murder and destruction are not of his making.

Fifty years earlier, Ari faked his own death, leaving his son Cerek, and the other Argonauts to grieve the loss of their father and friend. But Ari’s disappearance was self-imposed as he was unable to control the need to kill the Sirens whenever they were in his presence. Daphne’s presence will help Ari focus on the need, and with her help, Ari and Daphne will uncover the truth behind Ari’s uncontrolled murderous rage.

Although a novella, RAVAGED, is a complete story: we learn about Daphne’s background, Ari’s history, and the gods of Olympus who play with the fates of man and beast. Several of the Argonauts make a cameo appearance including their leader Theron, as well as Argonauts Demetrius, Gryphon, Phineus and Titus. Half Breed ‘Misos’ Silas is introduced as Ari’s friend and ‘roommate’; and Daphne’s friend and Siren Sappheire, whose own understanding of the truth, finds another Siren in the human realm.

Elisabeth Naughton seamlessly blends Greek mythology with a modern timeline. There is romance and passion; betrayal and revenge; grieving and death. The characters are a mix of man and gods; daemons and beasts; Sirens, nymphs and Fates. Their stories are heartbreaking, passionate, and exciting. There is always a happily ever after-for now-because, well, Zeus always has another plan to create destruction and chaos, in the world of man.

Description:
In the small waterfront town of Magnolia Beach, Alabama, people may forgive, but they never forget—especially when it comes to scandalous reputations, juicy gossip, and a sexy new flame.

Former wild child Helena Wheeler was happy to leave behind her hometown—and her sordid past—for Atlanta twelve years ago. But when her grandmother suffers an injury, Helena has no choice but to return, even if it means facing down all the people who have shunned her.

Ryan Tanner went from being a football legend in high school to Magnolia Beach’s young, hot bachelor mayor. As a teenager, he never wanted anything to do with a girl like Helena. But when she hires Ryan to do some construction in her grandmother’s house, he finds that she’s grown up into a different person—one he quite likes.

For Helena, confronting her past has its share of surprises—and falling for the resident golden boy was definitely not on her to-do list. But will her reformed ways be enough to get her back in the town’s good graces, or will her reputation keep Helena and Ryan apart for good?

Review:

Something to Prove by Kimberly Lang is the 1st book in her new Magnolia Beach series. This was a nice sweet romance with a wonderful heroine, who returns home after many years, and tries to live down her wild past that still remains in the minds of the Magnolia Beach residents. Helena Wagner is our heroine, and I really liked her from the start. Having left Magnolia Beach after graduation, Helena returns home after 12 years to help her grandmother, who suffered a major injury. She dreads coming face to face with most of the residents, as she was always the wild girl they never forgot.

While her grandmother is in rehab, Helena decides to fix up the house to be safer for her grandmother, when she comes home. Helena asks Ryan Tanner for help with the fixtures, and is shocked to find the former football legend golden boy is now the Mayor of Magnolia Beach.

Ryan is our hero, and has always been Mr. Popularity, which has not changed. In their school days, neither of them hung around each other. Ryan stayed clear of the wild Helena, and she hung around a different and equally wild crowd. Helena’s grandmother has always been well liked in town, and everyone looks out for her, and Ryan accepts the job to make changes in the house.

Ryan, as he spends more time with Helena, begins to see a different side of her, that slowly changes his opinion of the girl he avoided during their teenage years. Helena finds herself coming face to face with many townsfolk, and senses their continued dislike of her. But she holds her head high, and goes about doing everything she can to help her grandmother. Her friend Tate, who was her co-conspirator during those crazy days, is now the town Vet, and his past shenanigans were forgiven. He tries to get Helena to go out with him, which she does as a friend. She isn’t interested in anything more, as she plans to leave when her grandmother is better. But that is not all. She finds herself attracted to one person who can never be right for her, Ryan. Helena knows the town and his family would never allow him to become involved with her. Even some members of his family go to extremes to make sure this does not happen.

What follows is a heartwarming story that shows Helena proving herself to many of the residents, especially with all the hard work she does when her grandmother comes home. She forces herself to ask for help, and in doing so, opens the eyes of others to her being a different girl. It was really nice to see some of those that hated Helena and how they treated her when she came back, to slowly change their opinions.

Ryan sees the real Helena, and knows that the wild girl in the past was a façade to hide her own sorry life. He begins to fall hard for her, despite everyone trying to stop it. Helena herself does not want to ruin his career, since she feels the sins of the past will always come back to haunt them. Will Helena forgo her feelings for Ryan and leave town? Will Ryan allow the town’s hatred of the girl he is falling for effect his relationship with Helena?

Something to Prove is a wonderful romance, with a storyline that had our interest from start to finish. Kimberly Lang has written a wonderful story that pulls on your emotions and never let’s go until the end. I look forward to reading the next book in this series, and suggest you read Something to Prove.
