ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 11, 2015

Tracker is everything I’ve ever wanted.

I see him. I’ve watched time change him.

I’ve been patient, but he still hasn’t noticed me. Not the way I want him to. The more time I spend with the MC, the more I understand.

When you want something, you have to take it. You have to fight for it.

And Tracker is more than worth fighting for…

•••••••••••

REVIEW: TRACKER’S END is the third installment in Chantal Fernando’s adult, contemporary Wind Dragons erotic, romance MC series focusing on the men and women of the Wind Dragons MC. This is Tracker and Lana’s storyline. Lana is Anna’s (Arrow’s Hell) best friend, and Tracker is the MC ‘tracker’-if someone needs to be found, Tracker is the man to get the job done. Tracker’s End can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.

Told from first person point of view (Lana) with a few chapters from Tracker’s POV, the storyline follows the building relationship between two people of opposite personality and responsibilities. Lana is hired as a nanny to look after Faye and Dex’s (Wind Dragons president) six year old daughter Clover, and Tracker is a biker whose history with women, and one woman in particular, rattles Lana’s proverbial nerves. Tracker has been attracted to Lana since the first day they met, one year earlier, but Lana isn’t about to jump into a relationship with a man whose sexual escapades could be the subject of many an erotic romance novel-in fact, Lana is an erotic romance novelist who keeps her true passion a secret from everyone but her mom. While Tracker slowly seduces the woman of his fantasies, Lana will become the target of jealousy and revenge.

The sexual attraction between Lana and Tracker is immediate, intense and not without some moments of jealousy and possessiveness. Lana’s sexual history is minimal compared to Tracker, and most of the other MC members, but Lana quickly succumbs to the needs of the man with whom she is falling in love. $ex scenes are erotic and intense.

Throughout the storyline we are witness to Tracker’s promises of fidelity; how his past is now his past, and Lana is the woman that calls to his heart. But a perceived betrayal by Lana finds Tracker quickly taking advantage of his current circumstance, and in this I had some issues with the double standard as it pertained to Lana and Tracker’s relationship. Tracker is an arrogant, alpha male who continues to focus on his own personal needs and wants, never considering how his actions will affect the woman that he loves.

Most of the previous storyline characters play secondary and supporting roles including Faye and Dex (Dragon’s Lair); Arrow and Anna (Arrow’s Hell); and several of the other MC members. We are introduced to Lana’s mother-a single parent and nurse who is totally accepting of her daughter’s choices in life. Allie returns as the resident Club whore but her prior relationship with Tracker will not only affect Lana but the Wind Dragon MC as well-not everyone will survive to see another story. Anna’s brother Rake will come face to face with his past-a past that wants nothing to do with revisiting heartbreak and broken promises.

TRACKER’S END takes another intimate look at the world of the MC; the lovers, the fighters, the rules and regulations; the breakdown of power and the penalty for disobedience and going rogue. There are moments of romance and love; betrayal and heartbreak; jealousy and revenge. The series will captivate your imagination; you will fall in love with the bikers and their old ladies; the romance is a promise for the future. No matter how tough the biker claims to be, in the end, it is the woman with whom he falls in love, that has to be the toughest of them all.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 16, 2015

Being the younger sister of a Wind Dragons MC member isn’t as great as you’d think it would be.

I can’t escape the details of my brother’s exploits.

No one tells me anything.

Men who know who I am tend to stay away from me.

And worst of all:

The members of the MC are off-limits.

When Arrow catches my eye, I make it my mission to make him happy again.

When I fall head over heels in love with him, I just hope he will be there to catch me.

And that my brother doesn’t kill him.

TRC: Hi Chantal and welcome to The Reading Café. Congratulations on the success of your WIND DRAGONS MC series.

Chantel FernandoChantal: Thank you so much and thanks for having me!

TRC: We would like to start with some background information. Would you please tell us something about yourself?

Follow Chantal: Website/ Facebook/ Twitter/ Goodreads

Chantal: I’m 28 and live in a small town in Western Australia.

TRC: Who or what influenced your career in writing?

Chantal: I stopped reading in high school, and got back into it when I picked up my sister’s copy of Twilight. I fell back in love with reading and writing and haven’t looked back since.

Tracker's EndTRC: Would you please tell us something about your 2015 releases of TRACKER’S END and ARROW’S HELL, and the Wind Dragons series?

Chantal: All these books focus on the love stories between a member of the MC and their leading lady. I think Arrow and Anna have one of the hardest paths to each other, but Tracker and Lana also have their own problems to overcome before they get their happily ever afters.

TRC: How many books do you have planned for the series?

Chantal: Three so far… and maybe more 😉

TRC: If you could virtually cast the leading characters (so far), which actors or models would best represent your ideal image?

Chantal: I generally stay away from this, as I prefer readers to create their own image in their head, but Brock O’Hurn is definitely my Tracker.

TRC: What challenges or difficulties (research, logistics, MC lifestyle) did you encounter writing this particular story and series?

Chantal: I don’t like to write about cheating, even though it’s unrealistic for every member be 100% faithful to their women.

TRC: Do you have any further plans to continue your RESISTING LOVE series?

Chantal: No, I don’t. A few people have asked about the Morning Alliance books, which I may revisit, but I have a heap of books planned before that 🙂

Wind Dragon MCTRC: How do you keep the plot unpredictable without sacrificing content and believability?

Chantal: I start with a good, well thought out outline. I think that people in general are unpredictable, and my characters are the same, they take over the story, directing where it goes. I think it makes the characters more believable, because sometimes the direction the novel takes surprises even me.

TRC: Do you believe the cover image plays a deciding factor for many readers in the process of selecting a book or new series to read

Chantal: I think a pretty cover helps! But if the book is good, word of mouth will still make sure the book is picked up.

TRC: When writing a storyline, do the characters direct the writing or do you direct the characters?

Chantal: The characters definitely direct my writing lol.

TRC: Do you listen to music while writing? If so, does the style of music influence the storyline direction? Characters?

Chantal: I do listen to music while I write, unless I’m having trouble concentrating, then I need silence. With me, I don’t think music influences my storyline, I think I’m attracted to music that I can connect to a particular scene I’m writing, or the novel as a whole

TRC: What three things would you like to accomplish in the next five years?

Chantal: I’d like to travel the world and meet as many of my readers as I can.

Keep writing books that my readers enjoy.

Have more of my books available in store.

TRC: What is something that few, if any people, know about you?

Chantal: I’m super shy and terrible at public speaking!

TRC: On what are you currently working?

Chantal: I will be announcing this very soon! 😉

Description
She’s searching for a sign…

Hannah Halloran has always believed in her gift. The things she sees through her psychic touch have never led her wrong before. Not when they led her to an unforgettable night with a sexy marine at a bar. Not when she felt a need to leave her home and find the sisters she barely knows. And not now, when she is an unwilling witness to a brutal murder…

He’s ready to show her…

All Niall Graham wants is some peace. He’s recovering from the horrors of war, struggling to save his family’s restaurant, and desperate to forget Hannah, the beautiful woman who left him with memories of a mind-blowing night together and a bogus phone number. But a quiet life is hard to manage—especially when Hannah strides back into his restaurant with the news that a serial killer is on the loose and lurking closer than anyone could have guessed…

Review:

Energized by Mary Behre is the 3rd book in her Tidewater series. I have been a fan of this series from the start, and Energized was the best one so far. It had a bit of everything…romance, suspense, mystery, fun, sexy hot couple & wonderful secondary characters.

Hannah Halloran is our heroine, and we meet her early on when she is tending a bar in her home town in Ohio. She meets our hero, Niall Graham, who is passing by. Niall is a marine, coming off duty after serving a difficult time in Afghanistan. Hannah is physic, with the gift of going into the mind of anyone, if she touches an object belonging that person. When serving Niall a beer, Hannah is automatically in his memory of the difficult time he is having. She is attracted to him, and also feels his pain. They both end up in a one night stand, which neither can forget.

Many months later, Hannah is on a quest to meet her long lost sisters in Tidewater. For the time she expects to be there, she applies for a job in a restaurant, and is hired by one of the owners. Later, Hannah is shocked to discover that Niall is one of the owners, and he too is shocked; enough so that he does not want to hire her. He tried to call in Ohio, since he couldn’t get her out of his mind, but she gave him a wrong number, with him assuming she wasn’t interested in him. Niall agrees to let her work there temporarily, and gives her a hard time. Karma, who also works at the restaurant, and was one of our heroines in the earlier books, befriends Hannah. While Karma helps her, she discovers Hannah’s psychic ability, while she is in throes of living in a vision.

What follows is an exciting and suspenseful mystery of a serial killer, who Hannah only knows as Mercy. The police department doesn’t believe Hannah about her vision, and when a body is found, they arrest her. Fortunately, Niall and Karma come to her rescue, but the race is on to find the killer before the murderer picks her next victim.

Niall realizes his feelings for Hannah are real, and he tries to protect her, as the danger escalates. During this adventure, the romance between Niall and Hannah becomes very hot, as their chemistry is off the wall. Hannah was a fun heroine, when she wasn’t in the midst of her violent visions. Friends we have met in previous books, we help Niall and Hannah in a wild and pulse pounding last third of the book, which will hit too close to home.

Mary Behre has given us a wonderful, fun, exciting story in Energized. If you have not read the Tidewater series, I wholly recommend you do so. This is a fun series that has everything to enjoy.

Dare to Rock

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 4, 2015

Avery Dare lives a quiet life in Miami as an online fashion/makeup video blogger. She has good friends, a close, large family and if her love life is lacking, she likes it that way. But when she receives an invitation to one of her ex’s concerts along with an invitation to meet him back stage, she decides to take the risk… and comes face to face with the reality of his rock star lifestyle – the press, the crowds, and the half naked groupies.

At eighteen, Grey Kingston left everything he knew and loved behind to seek fame and fortune as a rock star, and he found it as the lead guitarist and singer for the band, Tangled Royal. Fans adore him, women throw themselves at him, and he can afford everything he couldn’t growing up. Yet at the height of his career, he’s ready to walk away and return home to a simpler life… and the woman he left behind, if he can convince her to give him another chance.

Except moving on isn’t as easy as Grey would like. When Avery is threatened by a stalker, it becomes evident Grey’s fans not only don’t want him to retire, they don’t want Avery in his life either. And Avery isn’t sure she wants the pressures that are part of Grey’s life… but she doesn’t want to lose him again, either. Can their recently renewed love survive the fallout?

•••••••••••••

REVIEW: DARE TO ROCK is the seventh installment in Carly Phillips adult, contemporary DARE TO LOVE erotic romance series focusing on the Dare Siblings. This is rock star Grey Kingston, and professional vlogger (video blogger) Avery Dare’s storyline. Each installment can be read as a stand alone but for background and family history I recommend reading the series in order.

SOME BACKGROUND: Patriarch and hotel billionaire Robert Dare kept secret a second family from his first wife and children until a medical emergency forced Robert to reveal the existence of family number two. His daughter Sienna (second family) needed a bone marrow transplant and his desperate search found Avery was a match. Each storyline will focus on one of the Dare siblings; the relationship between the two families of adult children; and a father who may or may not be trying to amend for the sins of the past.

Told from third person point of view DARE TO ROCK is a second chance storyline for Avery Dare and Grey Kingston but also looks at how a father’s betrayal has affected our storyline heroine. Avery and Grey were high school sweethearts but Grey sought stardom with the rock band Tangled Royal, and left for the California dream of fame and fortune. Fast forward eight years Grey has never stopped loving Avery and with the band about to implode, Grey wants a second chance at love.

Avery Dare is a young woman who has suffered greatly because of her father’s betrayal. The revelation of a second family brought with it tabloid headlines and the paparazzi that all but destroyed, a then eight year old, Avery’s life. Her ability to trust is virtually non existent, and with it comes the shame of her father’s transgressions- a man who has yet to acknowledge his sins, or thank Avery for saving his other daughter’s life. Avery’s involvement with Grey will open old wounds when the tabloids republish the Dare family saga.

The relationship between Avery and Grey is one of mutual attraction; there is no denying their sexual chemistry but Avery has issues of trust especially where is concerns Grey Kingston-the only other man she has ever loved-and a man who walked away like her father. The $ex scenes are erotic, seductive and provocative. Grey is a rock star with a history of sexual conquests but his love for Avery finds our storyline hero looking towards a permanent future with Avery Dare.

A number of the previous storyline characters and Dare siblings play secondary and supporting roles. Avery’s brother Tyler Dare is a force unto himself as Avery’s over protective brother and a man who raises the hackles of Avery’s best friend and roommate Ella Shaw. Grey’s band manager Simon Colson is a man on a mission to destroy everything that Grey Kingston represents; and Grey’s friends and fellow band mate Lola, and her significant other Rep, drop by for some one on one time with our storyline hero.

DARE TO ROCK continues to focus on the Dare family and the resulting destruction of a father’s betrayal. There are moments of heartbreak and sorrow; love and understanding; family and friendships. The premise is impassioned yet heartbreaking; the characters are colorful, animated and intense; the happily ever after will make you smile. Carly Phillips wonderful DARE TO LOVE series captivated my imagination with one family’s continuing struggle to overcome a father’s deception and lies.

excerpt

Sweat poured off Grey Kingston’s body, and his heart beat a too-rapid rhythm, the high and adrenaline rush from his performance still pulsing through his veins as he walked into the lounge backstage. He pulled off his soaked shirt and tossed it onto the floor, grateful for the stocked room and waiting pile of towels. He grabbed one and dried his face and hair, deliberately trying to slow his breathing.
The sound of Tangled Royal fans stomping their feet and demanding an encore echoed through the walls, but the band had performed their final set. Even as his pulse still soared.
He glanced toward the door. “Did she pick up the ticket?” Grey asked Simon Colson, their manager, who was busy texting on his phone.
“What? Who?” Simon, ever the well-dressed Brit, shoved his phone into his trouser pocket. No jeans for him. “Good show,” he said to Grey and the rest of the band, ignoring Grey’s question.
Lola Corbin, their lead singer and Grey’s best friend, was still bouncing in her heels, not yet coming down from their shared high either. “We did rock it,” she said, tossing her dark hair over her shoulder.
Milo Davis, their bassist, grunted something and fell into a chair in the corner. Grey narrowed his gaze. Milo barely had the energy for a full concert these days, and that worried him.
But right now Grey had bigger concerns and turned to Simon. “I asked you if Avery Dare picked up the VIP tickets I told you to leave at the box office.”
Simon shrugged. “I couldn’t tell you.”
Grey scowled at his manager’s I don’t give a shit tone. More and more lately, Simon’s lack of consideration about what the band members wanted grated on Grey’s nerves. Lola might be considering using him for her solo career, but anything Grey did going forward wouldn’t be with the man.
At least he’d indicated he had left the tickets. He’d be out of a job if he screwed with Grey on this. “Fucking find out.”
“What’s so special about this piece of ass?” Simon barely got the words out because Grey grabbed him by his collared shirt and pinned him up against the wall.
“Talk about her like that again and you’re done.”
“Whoa.” Lola put her petite body between them, pushing Grey away from their manager. “Everyone breathe,” she muttered. “You. Go take a walk and calm down before your company shows up,” she ordered Grey.
He stormed off, missing whatever lecture she gave to Simon next.
Though the man had done his job well, helping maneuver Tangled Royal to the elusive top of the charts, he cared about the bottom line and not much else. Especially not the fact that Tangled Royal was more than a band, people with real feelings, issues, and lives. No wonder Simon didn’t believe how serious both Grey and Lola were about changing their futures.
Danny Bills, their drummer, already had a wife and two daughters who lived in L.A. He was ready for home time, and everyone knew it. Milo was another story. If he didn’t stop the drugs, he wouldn’t have a future.
As for Grey, he hoped for more than the travel and fame that had been so important to him way back when. He hoped for her.
His eyes flickered to the door. No sign of Avery. He tipped his head back, wondering if she’d come backstage or ignore the invitation … and him. His stomach gripped painfully at the thought of not seeing her again. She was the one person who not only understood the loner musician he’d been as a teen but who’d grounded him when he’d threatened to spiral. With her soft voice, that thick mane of dark hair, and those lavender-like eyes, she’d burrowed someplace deep inside him. Still, she hadn’t been enough to hold him, not when fame, fortune, and the need to be something more lived within him.
But it was Avery whose face he saw in the nameless women he’d fucked over the years. Avery whose belief in him kept him going when times were hard. Funny how that worked. He wondered if she’d thought of him over the years and if she was as hyped up about possibly seeing him again now.

Frozen in Amber by Phyllis Ames – a Review

Frozen in Amber by Phyllis Ames – a Review

Frozen in amberAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / BAM / The Book Depository

Description:
Amber Treganis constantly reinvents herself. New clothes, new hairstyle, new car—anything she can do to exert a level of control over her life. What she can’t control is her shape-shifting other self: the WerCougar that sinks its claws into her brain during the three nights surrounding the full moon.

Though she is a natural-born shifter from a prominent WerCougar family, Amber has been unwilling to change into her cat form ever since a terrible tragedy cost her the man she loved. And she has little patience with Wers of any species who embrace their otherness more than their humanity. She focuses on her life as a defense attorney in Mt. Hood, and stays out of Wer politics.

But after a blurry night of hunting, Amber begins to notice changes in her transformation. When she hears rumors of research to discover a treatment for shifting, she suspects she may have been unknowingly given the experimental therapy.

With the help of Adler, a WerEagle active in community politics, Amber tries to hunt down the truth about this cure, while staying off the radar of the FBI, which tracks and manages Wer communities in secret.

But Amber doesn’t realize how much she depends on her Wer sense until, one by one, they begin to fade. And Amber is left increasingly ill—and increasingly human. Can shifter who is losing her abilities survive for long in either human or Wer society?

Review:

Amber Treganis is a reluctant shifter, she does everything in her power to keep her OTHER self contained. She lives alone and rarely runs or hunts with other shifters. She is a very successful lawyer in her grandfather’s firm, and she loves her life and job.

After waking up from a previous shift and hunt, Amber begins to notice changes in her appearance and abilities. There is also an unremembered mark on her body. (She thinks she may have been attacked, but isn’t 100% sure). After getting over a cold,(she wouldn’t shift to get rid of it), Amber returns to work. Her latest client is an interesting case and character.

Jonathan Bergman becomes Ambers client when he is accused of murdering his wife. His wealth is immense, and the gene therapy he claims to be inventing will cure the shifters.  He claims they can have a normal life with his cure.  He is a very strong and arrogant character, does he have an ulterior motive in “helping” the shifters become “normal”? And how did he find out about the secret society of shifters?

The setting for the book was well researched, and in parts I almost felt i was in a court room.  In this story if your bitten your loyalty is to your maker.

I loved how she called her grandfather “grumpy”.  They have a special bond. We find out that he raised her from the age of 12, after her mother died. He also wants her to earn her place in the law firm, not just because she is his granddaughter.

I also enjoyed Amber’s background, as we find out about her first hunt, and we also learn why she hates to hunt, and give herself over to the cougar.

Alder is our hero, he is a WerEagle. He is a bike courier, and Amber finds his tall good looks, and nice strong thighs pleasing. He has a wicked sense of humour, and he is interested in Amber, but she doesn’t “do” other shifters, if she wants some action, then she stays with other cougars.

Once Alder and Amber begin to investigate the truth about the miracle drug, the pace moves at a good pace.

We wonder about the FBI, and what is their game plan? They know about the “Wer’s” do they want the entire population to know about the “others” or do have they a more sinister agenda ?

The interaction between Alder and Amber wasn’t scorching, and to be honest I didn’t really miss it, the story was holding it’s own.  Frozen in Amber was a stand alone novel, and if Phyllis Ames writes more books, I would definitely read them.

Without Restraint by Angela Knight – a Review

Without Restraint by Angela Knight – a Review

Without RestraintAmazon / Barnes & Noble / BAM / The Book Depository

Description:
Atlanta deputy Alexis Rogers and Navy SEAL Frank Murphy know all about power and restraint, necessary force, and pushing their limits. When they meet in the darkness of a BDSM club, their skills are put to use. With each successive night comes a new adrenaline rush, and while they’re falling into something perilously close to love, their games are still too private, too extreme, and too daring ever to be exposed.

But their intimate lives are upended when a fellow deputy of Alex’s is killed. It’s not a tragic hazard of the job. It’s cold-blooded murder. And he’s not the last to be taken out. Now Alex and Frank have found themselves more vulnerable than ever—and exposed to a killer with a twisted vendetta who turns desire into the most dangerous sensation of all.

Review:

Without Restraint begins with Alex at a BDSM gathering, where she is watching a scene play out with Frank Murphy. Frank is a Dom that she has been corresponding with via email and getting to know a little about each other. Alex is a Sub that had a really bad break up with her previous Dom who was just an abusive jerk, and ultimately, ended up murdered sometime later. She and Frank were told about each other by a mutual friend who thinks they’ll be good for each other. Once Frank finishes up the scene he was participating in, he and Alex talk and decide to see just how things will go between them. After a trist, they part ways and decide that they will definitely see each other again. They just had no idea how soon.

When Alex arrives at work, she is totally surprised to see that the new guy the department has hired is none other than Frank Murphy. And, he’s just as surprised to see her. They decide that working together won’t be a problem for either of them, especially since they’re on different shifts. Alex’s friend and mentor, Ted, is not so sure. He’s into the lifestyle as well and lets Frank know that Alex’s last relationship didn’t end well, and if he is not good to her, he will answer to him. Frank assures Ted that that will not be the case.

When Alex begins her shift, she has no idea how much her life is about to change. When Ted doesn’t check back in service in a timely manner, she races to where he checked out with dispatch to find him lying beside his car, murdered. This sets into motion a series of events that puts everyone she loves and cares about in danger, including Alex herself. And, once her lifestyle is revealed to those she loves, things become even more dangerous. As the murderer starts targeting others, will Alex and Frank be able to stay alive long enough to catch the killer? Or will they end up victims as well?

Without Restraint is a well written story that draws you into the story from the very beginning. Alex is a very likeable character. She knows what she wants, both professionally and in her personal life. She comes from a strong, albeit very over protective, family. Frank is likeable as well. His childhood was not what Alex’s was. His bipolar mother had issues (to say the least), but even as a child, he did all he could to protect her, and himself, from the disease that was raging within her. And, come on……he’s a SEAL too!! We know from almost the very beginning who the murderer is, so we get to see what has driven him to be the bigoted, murderous coward that he has become. When his identity is revealed, the only one not surprised is Frank. He had pegged him, but had let it go because Alex never thought that someone she had grown up with, let alone dated in high school, would do the horrendous things that were happening around them.

I liked this book. I’m not a big BDSM fan, but the book was written really well. And, at least for me, the BDSM aspects of the book didn’t overpower the story. The suspense was great and the interaction with all of the characters flowed effortlessly. If you’re a fan of this genre and love a good crime/suspense read, you’ll definitely like this one. I do look forward to the next installment to see just exactly what she will do with this series. I’m pretty sure I know who it’ll be about, now all I have to do is wait. Well done, Angela Knight.

“Let me in.”

Dante

It’s not easy being a male dancer in a world where women dominate. Ballet. Yeah, I’m a ballet dancer, but I prefer male professional dancer. Still, I am at the top of my profession. Choreographers clamor to create dance pieces for me, and women just clamor for me period. See, being straight in a female dominated profession has its perks. But even though I don’t hurt for companionship, I still get up in the middle of the night reaching for something, someone, who is not the person lying next to me. Because I always wake up feeling empty inside…until she played for me.

Kali

It’s not easy being a female in a male dominated profession. Most people can’t name five female guitarist, bass or lead, but I bet they can name five male guitar players. Still, I am at the top of my profession. I’ve proven to the world that music ability isn’t driven by gender. It hadn’t always been that way, but now I am in constant demand. My time is no longer my own. As for a relationship with a significant other? I stay away from other musicians I perform with or might perform with, like the plague. Not good to mix business with pleasure. Still, I’m only human and I wake up in the middle of the night reaching for something that’s just not there. Then one day he danced for me, and suddenly, I was no longer empty inside.

REVIEW: THE DANCER is the third installment in Ursula Sinclair’s contemporary The Ballerina new adult, romance series. This is principle male dancer Dante Hammond, and guitarist Kali Devereaux’s storyline. Dante (Ivy’s best friend) was first introduced in book one-The Ballerina and the Fighter-and has had a continuous role throughout the series. Although THE DANCER is the third installment in the series it can be read as a stand alone. Any important information from previous storylines is revealed where necessary.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Dante and Kali) THE DANCER focuses on the upcoming beach nuptials of Ivy and Maze, and the introduction of Kali Devereaux to Dante Hammond. Kali had been invited to Ivy and Maze’s wedding as Vin’s (Maze’s best friend) plus one but the sparks flew between Dante and Kali from the very start. What started off as a one night stand soon developed into something more. When Kali’s latest music tour takes her to Europe for one month neither she nor Dante have any contact with one another leaving each to wonder how the other is doing. Upon her return to the USA, Dante and Kali pick up where they had left off, including a weekend hiking trip into the mountains where everything goes from great to bad in a matter of hours.

The relationship between Kali and Dante is one of immediate attraction. The sexual tension is palpable and our couple is quick to act on their attraction and need. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive.

The secondary and supporting characters include Ivy and Shel’s (book one) parents, as well as Maze’s friend Vin whose story will be told next in CHOOSE ME. We are also introduced to several female dancers (Christy and Stella) whose attraction to Dante leaves little to the imagination. Christy tries to force her way into Dante’s life only to discover that life as she knows it is about to change.

Like in the previous two installments there are some issues of grammar, spelling errors and missing words which could have been easily caught by a proof-reader or beta read. I also don’t understand how in this day and age of social media, texting and emails how two people have no contact with one another for weeks, months and years at a time (Ivy and Maze) but Ursula’s leading couples have some difficulty in the communication department.

THE DANCER is an enjoyable storyline about another interracial couple. The characters are animated and charismatic; the romance impassioned and intense; the happily ever after not unexpected. Dante has finally found the one to complete his dance card both in and out of the bedroom.

by Ursula Sinclair
Genre: New Adult, contemporary, romance
ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 27, 2013

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / BAM

Maze
There are times in life when you have to make decisions that others will neither understand nor forgive. When that happens, then you make damn sure they never find out. But no matter what, you will do anything to protect those you love. Even if it means you forfeit your soul.

Ivy
He’s keeping something from me. And I’m not sure I want to know because it will forever change us.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: MAZE is the second installment in Ursula Sinclair’s contemporary THE BALLERINA new adult, romance series. This is the continuing story of Maze and Ivy, and picks up immediately after the events of book one-The Ballerina and the Fighter. Ivy is a professional ballerina who is currently on medical leave due to an unfortunate accident; Maze is an MMA fighter trained in the Japanese style of blade fighting. When Maze refuses to throw a fight he and everyone he loves will become targets in a gang war to control the Japanese Triad and the Tong. What ensues are Maze’s attempts to hunt down the people responsible and knowing that his future has been pre determined by the people he loves.

MAZE is a storyline that focuses on Maze and Ivy’s building relationship as they learn to trust one another following a five year separation wherein Ivy had believed that Maze was no longer a part of her life. Maze’s return to America comes with the harsh reality that everything has changed for Maze and Ivy. As Maze tries to uncover the truth, he will lose someone close in the ensuing struggle for power and control.

The secondary characters include Ivy’s BFF and roommate Dante-a fellow dancer who lost his heart to Ivy years before. We reconnect with Maze’s foster father Joe, and his Uncle Tsang –two men whose lives will collide time and time again. Ivy and Shelly’s (book 1) parents face a reality many people have had to endure; Maze’s friend Vin drops in for a drink or two; and the bodyguards protecting Ivy and Maze will lose a couple of their own as they battle with the Japanese mob..

The world building follows Maze’s hunt for a group of Japanese assassins, as well as his need to protect the woman that he loves.

I did have a few issues with this particular storyline as it pertained to a number of spelling errors and grammar problems-another round of editing could easily pick up the mistakes. The slow build of the storyline was due in part to Maze’s need to ‘disappear’ but in the interval we learn very little about what has happened. Maze’s search for the people responsible for threatening everyone that he loves is pushed to the background throughout the story- we are third party witnesses after everything is said and done.

MAZE is an interesting and entertaining storyline about an interracial couple who have issues of trust. Maze and Ivy have both lost people in their lives, and continued threats make it apparent that more losses are imminent and in the future. The characters are colorful and animated; the happily ever after jumps several years so that we get a glimpse into the future for Ivy and Maze.

Review:

Wolf Trouble by Paige Tyler is the 2nd book in her Swat series. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series (Hungry Like the Wolf) and after reading Wolf Trouble, I am happy that this was just as good or even a bit better. With so many hunks on the SWAT team, we have so much fun ahead of us. For those of you who have not read my review of the first book, this series is about a police swat team that are secretly werewolves, which gives them the advantage in fighting dangerous criminals.

Xander Riggs is our hero and we met him in the first book. When Gabe (Hungry Like a Wolf hero) tells Xander that they are being pressured to adding a female to the Swat team, he is not happy, since it would threaten their secret. To his shock, Gabe has found a female cop is soon to shift to rare female werewolf.

Khaki Blake is a cop in Washington State, who is having trouble with her ex, who is also a cop. On assignment, Khaki called for help, and this was ignored, since the backup police officers were afraid of her ex. This is the last straw that will have Khaki jump at the chance to leave Washington and take Gabe’s offer to join his Swat team.

Khaki is assigned to Xander’s team, must to his disgust. But Khaki wins over all the guys on the team, who treat her like one of them. She turns out to be a smart, savvy, tough cop, who becomes a great addition to the team. Xander finds himself unable to control his feelings, as his wolf feels the attraction to Khaki, which he is desperately trying to avoid. Khaki also feels the attraction to Xander, but doesn’t understand why he is cold to her.

This was such a fun story, especially with the camaraderie between Khaki and the hot alpha hunks, as well as watching them work with her during training and her teaching them yoga. The romance between Xander and Khaki heats up as neither of them can control their lust for each other, despite the knowledge that a supervisor and member should not be in any relationship. But in a short time, it is obvious that they are mates.

What follows is an exciting story, with missions involving a bank robbery gang that are difficult to catch, as they kill along the way. To make matters worse, Khaki’s ex will come back for revenge and the danger escalates.

Wolf Trouble was a great story, with a lot of action, fun, humor, romance and very steamy. Xander and Khaki had a lot of hot chemistry together and made a great couple. I enjoyed this book so much, that I finished it in one day. I cannot wait for more of this series by Paige Tyler, and if you want a fun exciting and sexy read, look no further then the SWAT series. There are so many more wonderful hot hunks to go. 🙂

excerpt

“Xander had to pick his jaw up off the floor of the training room when Gage introduced the newest member of the SWAT team. He didn’t know what to expect, but it sure as hell wasn’t Officer Khaki Blake. Tall with an athletic build and just enough curves to fill out the SWAT T-shirt, she had the biggest brown eyes and softest looking lips he’d ever seen. She had her dark hair back in a bun, so he couldn’t tell how long it was, but he’d bet money it fell past her shoulders. She smelled way too good to be believed, too—like a slice of frosted spice cake in a uniform.

Shit. He was practically panting. If he didn’t get a grip soon, he was going to start drooling.
He gave the other guys a covert glance to see how they were dealing with her scent and was stunned to see that none of them reacted at all. Why not? His nose wasn’t that much better than theirs. He knew for a fact that several of the other guys—Cooper Landry and Jayden Brooks specifically—could smell a hell of a lot better than he could.
Maybe everyone was so mesmerized by finally getting to see a female version of their kind that the rest of their senses had stopped working.

Gage had left it up to Xander to fill the guys in on what had gone down at the meeting with Deputy Chief Mason while he’d headed home to get ready for his trip to Washington State. While the guys had been pissed that the top brass was playing politics with the team, they’d been intrigued at the idea of adding a female werewolf to the Pack.
They’d bombarded him with dozens of questions, none of which he could answer. Was she as fast and strong as they were? Did her abilities manifest themselves in completely different ways? Would she be as aggressive as they were and able to handle herself in a fight? Were there more like her out there, or was she the only one?
Not all the questions were so general. Brooks wondered what she would look like, Max Lowry wanted to know if she would smell like them, and Eric Becker… Well, Becker just wanted to know if she liked to wear yoga pants. God, that kid had an obsession with those things.

Xander had told them what he knew—that no one except Gage knew a damn thing about female werewolves. And Xander wasn’t so sure how much their commander knew, either.
While Xander was lost in thought, Gage turned the floor over to Khaki, who was currently explaining how much she appreciated the opportunity to be in SWAT.

“I know I won’t be handed anything, but I look forward to proving to every one of you that I belong in the Pack and on the team.” She spoke in a light, lilting voice that surprisingly filled the large classroom. Xander could definitely pick up the Midwest accent, so she probably wasn’t originally from the Pacific Northwest. “I’m not asking for anything from you but a chance to do prove myself.”

It’s not easy when the mayor himself, Boone Braddock, wants to close the library down. There’s only one way for Cissie to put a stop to him: By running for mayor herself! Is he a player—or does he mean business?Boone is Kettle Knob’s favorite son, a champion athlete and stellar football coach with deep local roots. Cissie will need more than a savvy slogan and a pair of three-inch high heels to stand a chance at the polls. But what about the campaign that’s underway in her own heart? What began as professional rivalry has transformed into a simmering attraction that neither contender can ignore. Could it be that the keeper of the town’s card catalog and the legendary football hero are ready to team up…and write their own storybook romance?

Review:

Trouble When You Walked In by Kieran Kramer is a sweet romance in a small town, Kettle Knob, North Carolina. Cissie Rogers is our heroine and the town librarian. Boone Braddock is our hero, and the Mayor, as well as the football coach.   Boone had always been the most popular guy in town, going back to his days playing football. Cissie has a slight crush on Boone during their high school days, but Boone did not pay too much attention to her. The Rogers and the Braddocks were never friends, more like enemies over the years.

The fun begins when Boone comes to the library to tell Cissie that due to the town budget, they will close the Kettle Knob library and merge it with another library in the next town. Cissie is beside herself, and decides to fight, useing her friends in town to help her try to stop this. Cissie lives in a house with her grandmother, who was a wonderful addition to this story.

Boone doesn’t take Cissie seriously, but finds himself looking at her in a different perspective, not to mention the sparks that begin to fly. Especially, when Cissie’s friend takes her for a makeover. Cissie is a determined young lady, as she decides the only way to stop this merge is to run for Mayor, against Boone.

Out of the blue, during a storm, a tree falls on Cissie’s house, and of course she and grandma end up at Boone’s big house to stay until renovations are made. This opens up a small scandal, as the two mayoral opponents are living in the same house. Boone insists that he is helping out, and is shocked when Cissie, who still has a crush on him, throws herself at him. They both then agree to enjoy the benefits and keep it quiet. After all, they are supposed to be enemies, trying to beat one another.

This was a fun sweet romance, and all the characters were really nice. Most of all, I liked Boone and Cissie together, as they were a sexy couple. Who won the mayoral race? You will need to read the book to find out.

I did have some mixed feelings in the early part of the book. Though the characters, including the hero and heroine were very nice, at times early on I found this a bit slow, and some of the comments and characters a bit sappy. It did get better in the second half. If you enjoy sweet small town romances, with some silliness, then Trouble When You Walked In is for you.
