Description
Duncan Flynn long ago said goodbye to his hometown of Bayberry Island, Massachusetts, where a mermaid statue allegedly grants true love to the pure at heart. So when the injured Navy SEAL gets sent home—just in time to help his family prepare for the annual Mermaid Festival—he’s not in the mood to celebrate. Nor fall in love. But during a night run on the beach, a magnificently naked woman emerges from the surf who bears an uncanny resemblance to the mermaid in Fountain Square.

Adelena Silva’s otherworldly mermaid paintings have made her famous and wealthy, but Lena herself is a recluse—at least until Duncan Flynn comes home. She’s secretly loved him her whole life, and is determined not to let him get away again. But will revealing her truth win his heart, or cause Lena to lose him?

Review:

Moondance Beach by Susan Donovan is the 3rd book in her Bayberry Island series.   This is my first book by Donovan, and it will not be my last. I loved Moondance Beach, and now I have to go back and read the first two books of this series. This book does read very well as a standalone, as you learn about the earlier couples, but if you have the chance to start at the beginning, it probably is more fun to do so.

The backdrop of this series is Bayberry Island, where there is a mermaid statue that supposedly grants true love. The older women in town have their own mermaid committee and an annual Mermaid Festival, which they promote heavily, especially during tourist season.

Duncan Flynn has come home to recuperate from severe injuries he incurred as a Navy Seal. Duncan is a life time Seal, and pushes himself over and above to heal and go back to his duties. Duncan hates being in Bayberry Island, even if it is nice to see his family. As he runs on the beach late one night, he sees a naked woman come out of the waters, and swears she has a tail (like a mermaid).

Adelena (Lena) is our heroine, and has secretly loved Duncan since she was a child. But Lena is now all grown up, and a famous wealthy artist, who watches Duncan from afar, telling no one how she still loves him. Lena knowing Duncan is home for now, refuses to see him, since she feels he would need to come to find her, especially after all these years.

Duncan accidently does come across Lena, and is shocked that this beautiful woman is the girl who followed him everywhere when they were kids. Duncan fights his attraction to Lena, since he is leaving town as soon as he is able. Knowing that he hurt her years before when he would ignore her as a kid, he doesn’t plan on hurting her again. But again, the chemistry between them is scorching, and they both succumb to their lust for each other.

What follows is a nice steamy romance that is destined to be short lived, as they both know Duncan will never stay home at Bayberry Island. The Flynn family does their best to push them together, especially Duncan’s mom, who prays the mermaid legend will avail. Will Duncan leave Lena and break both of their hearts? Can he get over the horrid memories of when he was injured and lost his friends?

I enjoyed this story so much that I could not put it down. As much as I loved Duncan, I ended up loving Lena even more. She was such a great heroine; smart, savvy, strong, sensual, loving, independent and talented. I loved the entire Flynn family and enjoyed all the camaraderie between them. This is pure romance, with a great couple and wonderful secondary characters. Susan Donovan has now been added to my must reads.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 7, 2015

Alexis Yeung did everything right….only to watch everything go horribly, horribly wrong. Broken and angry, Alexis high-tails it to Europe, determined to face the world on her own terms and without consequence. Which includes a mind-blowing night with a sexy, scarred stranger.

Except, embittered former pararescuer Luke Jackson isn’t exactly a stranger. He’s supposed to keep an eye on Alexis without her knowing. Ending up in bed together was definitely not the plan. Now he’s chasing her (admittedly hot) ass across Europe, a game of cat and mouse that always ends with the two of them tangled up in the sheets.

Something in their scarred, damaged souls calls to each other. And God help them, the sex in unbelievably hot. But if Alexis discovers who Luke really is, he’ll lose the one thing that makes him feel whole.

••••••••••••

REVIEW: HIS LOVER TO PROTECT is the third installment in Katee Robert’s adult, contemporary OUT OF UNIFORM erotic romance series. This is nurse Alexis Yeung, and former pararescuer Luke Jackson’s storyline. HIS LOVER TO PROTECT can be read as a standalone without any difficulty. Any information from the previous storyline is imparted where necessary. Alexis is the sister to Avery Yeung (Falling For His Best Friend #2).

Told from dual third person perspectives (Alexis and Luke) HIS LOVER TO PROTECT follows Luke Jackson as he pursues Alexis Yeung throughout Europe. Alexis is running away from everything back home including her sister’s growing family, and the memories of what was and what could have been. Meeting Luke Jackson and falling in love was never on the agenda, but the two broken souls connected until the truth was finally revealed-Luke’s presence in Alexis’s life was no accident.

Alexis is a bitter young woman whose life has been riddled with too many losses, and her future is uncertain. Her personal pain is reflected in her caustic and angry personality, and harsh responses towards Luke and everything he represents. Alexis’s relationship with her own family is acrimonious as culture and society continue to collide, and in this it made for some uncomfortable emotions and attitude f. Luke is a former parajumper whose career ended when an IED destroyed any hopes of returning to military service; his ongoing pain and recovery continues to push our hero to the breaking point of his personal growth.

The relationship between Alexis and Luke is slow to build as Alexis continues to push Luke at every opportunity. Their combative role-play finds Luke hunting for Alexis at every turn but Alexis is unaware of the reasons Luke is by her side. The $ex scenes are seductive and hot.

The secondary characters are limited as the storyline focuses on the building relationship between Alexis and Luke, and the secrets our couple keep from one another.

HIS LOVE TO PROTECT is a story about family and loss; heartbreak and pain; love and the potential for a future. The premise follows our couple through Europe as Alexis visits the places she has heard about most of her life- it is a bucket list of places to go and people to see. The road to happiness had a few twists and turn; a couple of bumps along the highway to love.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 25, 2015

A Woman on a Mission

Grace Clark has always done things safe. She’s never colored outside of the law, but she has a book due and has found the perfect spot to break through her writer’s block. Or so she thinks. Right up until Arian suddenly appears and tries to force her away from the mountain. Unaware of the war she just stumbled into, Grace doesn’t just discover the perfect place to write, she finds Arian—the most gorgeous, enticing, mysterious man she’s ever met.

A King with a Purpose

Arian is a Dragon King who has slept away centuries in his cave. Recently woken, he’s about to leave his mountain to join his brethren in a war when he’s alerted that someone has crossed onto Dreagan. He’s ready to fight . . . until he sees the woman. She’s innocent and mortal—and she sets his blood aflame. He recognizes the danger approaching her just as the dragon within him demands he claim her for his own.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: DRAGON KING by Donna Grant is the latest entry into the multi-authored 1001 DARK NIGHTS series as well as Donna’s Dark Kings paranormal, romance series focusing on the continuing struggle of the Dragon Kings and their one-time ally and friend King Ulrik. DRAGON KING is a novella that focuses on the awakening of Dragon King Arian as a war between the Dragons and Fae is on the horizon.

SOME BACKGROUND: Hundreds of years earlier the Dragon Kings were betrayed by Ulrik’s human female lover and in retaliation Con-the King of Kings- and the other Dragon Kings killed the woman who revealed the existence of the dragons to mankind. What ensued was the devastation of the dragon species, and a war between dragon and man. To contain Ulrik’s anger and vengeance for the death of the woman that he loved, the Dragon King’s locked away Ulrik’s magic, and sent Ulrik and his Silver Dragons to sleep. But Ulrik has awoken before his time, and with it comes an alliance with the Dark Fae as they set their sights on uncovering the location of a secret weapon known only to King Constantine with the potential to destroy all of the Dragon Kings.

DRAGON KING follows Grace Clark-a romance author and writer who lost her muse. Her publisher has offered Grace a three week extension but writer’s block continues to hamper Grace’s attempts at writing her story. A trip to Scotland finds Grace pulled towards the mountain where Dragon King Arian has recently awoken, and with it will come an immediate attraction to one another as Arian must defend the human female against the Dark Fae and King Con.

The relationship between Arian and Grace is quick to develop. Arian believes Grace is his mate but Con’s distrust of the human species finds Arian in an emotional battle with the King of Kings, and a struggle to let walk away the woman with whom he is falling in love. The $ex scene is seduction and hot.

Several of the Dragon Kings play a secondary and supporting role; Ulrik’s presence is by way of mention; the Dark Fae continue to seek out the entrance to Dreagon in search of the elusive and secret weapon.

DRAGON KING is a welcome addition to the Dark Kings series; a quick read that sees another Dragon King finding his mate- the other half to his soul. Con continues to battle his hatred and distrust of humans-his anger and bitterness worsens as the Dragon Kings find their mates from within the human population. Donna Grant’s DARK KING series is a must read; I love the supernatural world of the Dragon Kings and the women whom they love.

REVIEW

5 out of 5 for this reader folks!

WOW .. that was one fantastic book! Everything I love in a historical romance was present and in truth totally exceeded my expectations. I love it when that happens!

The Highwayman by Kerrigan Byrne is the first book in her Victorian Rebels series. The story opens with two young orphans who form a strong bond, look out for the other and end up handfasting as young kids to prove their commitment to the other. When something happens that inevitably tears then apart, we are left wondering why fate has been so cruel … fast forward seventeen years and we begin to get answers to questions we had no idea to ask.

Farah Mackenzie is the young orphan girl that made that commitment so many years ago. She is living with the status of widow and working for Scotland Yard. When she is invited into an interrogation room, she has yet to realize that her entire life is about to be tipped upside down.

Dorian Blackwell is a scarred (literally) man with unbelievable black demons in his closet. He is known as Dorian the blackheart and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Coming from nothing, he is now wealthy and certainly not someone to cross. Dorian decides to kidnap Farah away from her life and spill a few secrets along the way.

Farah now is faced with big decisions. Dorian knows her past and has revealed his plans for both of them to get revenge. All Farah has to do is marry him. Farah, strangely attracted to this professed monster lays her terms on the table … she wants a child.

Off we go on an incredible dark journey that holds secrets, suspense, angst, freedom, capture, past/present failures, enemies/friends and scars so deep, one can never heal completely. It also leaves us questioning the possibility of rebirth and survival on love alone. Is it enough??

OH ME OH MY .. where do I start? Careful not to give away any spoilers (there are many things to spoil in this story) let me start with what I cherish the most in my reads … emotions. YUP, CHECK .. lots there. I felt anger, happiness, hope, swoon, annoyed, mystified, relieved … and a whole lot more …! Now add a story that can back up these emotions and keep me so riveted that I consumed this novel in one sitting (hey it was rainy and this is a really good book ..lol) .. YUP I’m sold.

These characters are amazing. So incredibly complex and the storyline had me from the first page. Dorian is not by any means a gentlemen and thank goodness for that .. he has just enough dirty to shock those that are not use to it in the historical romance and to feed those of us that like a bit of smut. His mouth had me blushing … LOL Farah is just enough woman to take it and give it right back naturally.

I really want to give you so much more because the story alone is beautiful. If you love historical romance, please check this amazing book out. I cannot wait for the next one and have to admit that I am adding more of Kerrigan’s books on my TBR pile!

HAPPY READING! 🙂

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 1, 2015

The first in a new series explores the fantasies of a daring married couple—and those of a stranger invited to play along in their scandalous little games…

When he’s working, Mike Heyer is all business—every inch the alpha male, with the hard, capable body to back up his persona. But at home he can be a different man entirely, harboring appetites only his wife gets to glimpse…

When Samira first learned of her husband’s fantasies, she was reluctant, even alarmed. But after witnessing the way they set him on fire, she yielded, and happily indulged. As their games have intensified, so has the rush. And now so has the risk—they’re poised to take Mike’s indecent desires to the next level, by opening their bed to a sexy, brazen stranger. A man seeming custom-made to grant every last one of Mike and Samira’s sinful wishes.

Welcoming someone new into their lives was always a dangerous proposition, but the couple imagined if anything was at stake, it was their privacy…not their hearts.

•••••••••••••

REVIEW: CROSSTOWN CRUSH is the first installment in Cara McKenna’s adult, contemporary Sins in the City erotica series. This is husband and wife Mike and Samira Heyer, and Bern’s storyline- an erotic tale of a cuckold, his wife and the man who makes all of their fantasies come true.

NOTE: CROSSTOWN CRUSH contains erotic and graphic sexual imagery including strong language, infidelity, role play, voyeurism and M/F/M, M/F, M/M sexual situations.

A cuckold by definition is considered the man of an adulterous wife-often regarded as an object of derision; a husband whose wife is in a relationship with another man; or a man who derives pleasure from humiliation.

Told from three third person perspectives (Mike, Samira and Bern) CROSSTOWN CRUSH focuses on the kink in Mike and Samira’s marriage wherein several times per month Mike wants to feel emasculated by the idea of his wife in a sexual relationship with another man. For two years the fantasy has just been that, a fantasy role-play acted out in bed with his wife-but Samira offers to make the fantasy a reality inviting another man into their relationship and their bed. When feelings and emotions come into play a line will be crossed and there will be no going back.

CROSSTOWN CRUSH is a psychological study in paraphilia or sexual fetish- a sexual interest that is atypical and goes against what is considered the norm by society but one that is entered into wholly aware of the actions and consequences. There is no secondary storyline development-the focus is on the kink, the cuckold, and the wants and needs of everyone involved. There are no hearts and flowers; the wooing is staged; an act to create the illusion of an affair; but the heartbreak is painful and real. The conflict arises when the heart becomes involved when the body and mind lose control.

I am having a difficult time putting into words my thoughts and feelings about this particular storyline. I wanted to like the premise but the presentation and execution felt out of sync; I did not feel invested in the action or the players. A cuckold trope is not my ‘ideal’ storyline situation but who are we to judge another’s lifestyle that is different from our own. In the end, it wasn’t the sexual fetish but the overall ‘feel’ of the story that left me disappointed

As you can read I had some issues with CROSSTOWN CRUSH and perhaps it was my inability to place myself into this particular storyline. For me, I have to be able to connect with the players and feel their emotions; to be pulled into a storyline where I become one with the characters or one of the characters but CROSSTOWN CRUSH left me standing on the sidelines where I felt like a voyeur in the window of someone’s personal life.

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / BAM

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 1, 2015

She closed her heart long ago. He just wants to open her mind. The debut of Sophia Henry’s red-hot Detroit Pilots series introduces a hockey team full of complicated men who fight for love.

Auden Berezin is used to losing people: her father, her mother, her first love. Now, just when she believes those childhood wounds are finally healing, she loses something else: the soccer scholarship that was her ticket to college. Scrambling to earn tuition money, she’s relieved to find a gig translating for a Russian minor-league hockey player—until she realizes that he’s the same dangerously sexy jerk who propositioned her at the bar the night before.

Equal parts muscle and scar tissue, Aleksandr Varenkov knows about trauma. Maybe that’s what draws him to Auden. He also lost his family too young, and he channeled the pain into his passions: first hockey, then vodka and women. But all that seems to just melt away the instant he kisses Auden and feels a jolt of desire as sudden and surprising as a hard check on the ice.

After everything she’s been through, Auden can’t bring herself to trust any man, let alone a hot-headed puck jockey with a bad reputation. Aleksandr just hopes she’ll give him a chance—long enough to prove he’s finally met the one who makes him want to change.

••••••••••••••

REVIEW: DELAYED PENALTY is the first installment in first-time author Sophia Henry’s new adult, contemporary PILOTS HOCKEY sports romance series focusing on the minor league hockey team the Detroit Pilots. This is college junior Auden Berezin, and Russian hockey player Aleksandr Varenkov’s storyline.

Told from first person point of view (Auden) DELAYED PENALTY follows twenty year old Auden as she is hired to be Aleksandr’s Russian interpreter/ translator for media interviews and press releases. Aleksandr’s reputation with the ‘puck bunnies’ finds our heroine sitting in judgment before ever meeting the young Russian hockey player, and his ‘sexual’ come-ons and one liners do nothing to change Auden’s mind about her preconceived notions.

Following the murder of her mother fourteen years earlier, Auden was raised in Detroit by her Russian grandparents; she is fluent in Russian reading, translation and speech, and her grandfather’s connections to minor league hockey find Auden’s latest assignment translating for the number one player on the Detroit Pilots. What ensues is a building relationship between twenty year old Aleksandr and Auden-an enemies to friends to lovers scenario that falters when perceived betrayal breaks the heart.

Auden’s life has been a series of losses and thusly she has some issues of self worth and self esteem-never knowing her father; the murder of her mother; and the loss of her soccer scholarship she so desperately coveted. But starting a relationship during the winter/Christmas break would ensure another loss knowing that Aleksandr’s time in the minor league has an expiry date-just long enough until he is called up to the NHL. Saying that, I had a difficult time connecting to Aleksandr and Auden as a couple-for a good portion of the storyline the couple are not together; there are some issues of trust that had to be addressed; and Aleksandr’s career as a hockey player meant our hero was travelling throughout the story.

The secondary and supporting players include Auden’s long suffering grandparents whose own lives were destroyed with the death of their daughter, but secrets yet to be revealed will hit too close to home. We are introduced to several members of the Detroit Pilots hockey team, Auden’s best friend KK, as well as Auden’s band mates once her interest in music begins to take off.

The world building focuses on the building relationship between Auden and Aleksandr: their backstories, histories and personal heartbreak. With the introduction of several of the Detroit Pilots team member we are witness to some of the friction and animosity between players and friends.

DELAYED PENALTY is an interesting storyline with some colorful and energetic characters but it read more like a YA novel than NA. Our heroine is a virgin whose self esteem issues are adolescent in nature; small things, even joking around, seem to set her off. Aleksandr’s backstory is heartbreaking as well, but he is not one to ruminate constantly about the ‘what ifs’ and ‘whys’. The $ex scene(s) are mostly implied; there are no sexually graphic scenarios or text.

For ten months, bestselling novelist Alec Winston hasn’t been able to type a single word, and he’s coming dangerously close to breaching his publishing contract. An invitation from his brother to spend the summer in Wilmington Beach might be just the thing to blast through his writer’s block. Yet Alec discovers more than a spark of inspiration on the sunny sands. He meets an amber-eyed muse who makes him think about much more than books . . .

Faith Armstrong has finally gathered the courage to leave her past behind and accepted a job as a private tutor, hoping for a fresh start on the North Carolina coast. This is the home she’s always longed for—not just a place, but a state of mind. She’s felt invisible her whole life, so the host of new friends and the attention of a sexy author have her head spinning.

But Alec has a secret that could prove this isn’t the life Faith dreamed of after all . .

Review:

All of Me by Kelly Moran is the second book in her Covington Cove series. Alec Winston is our hero, as he returns to Covington Cove to attend his brother Jake and Lacey’s Wedding. Mia and Cole, our heroes in the first book are already married. This is certainly a family affair, and turns into another wonderful romance. The best part of Covington Cove is being able to spend time with the Covington’s.

Alex is a world famous author, who writes horror stories. By the time he arrives in Covington Cove for the wedding, he is in the midst of a long writers block. With the pressure high, that could threaten his career, Alex is not in a good frame of mind.

Faith Armstrong is our heroine, and she arrives around the same time to work with Ginny, who is Mia’s sister, and who has downs syndrome. Ginny lives with Mia and Cole, and it is Mia who hires Faith to help her, since Faith was the one who took care of Ginny at the home she was in before.

On his first night, when he is walking the beach, Alec sees Faith staring quietly out to the ocean. As each day passes, he becomes more and more intrigued by Faith. She is sweet, kind, and very caring with Ginny. But Alec can also see her shyness, and her reactions when people show interest in her.

What follows is a slow to build romance between two people who have strong issues that will create hardships in any possible long term relationship. Faith lost her sister years before, and has lived in an environment of her family being distant and showing no expressions of love. This has left Faith feeling inadequate and not deserving of a better live. She slowly comes out of her shell, especially because of Mia and Lacey, who befriend her and invite her to all the family gatherings. She senses for the first time in her life, since her sister died, what it’s like to have friends and be surrounded by a loving environment.

Besides his writers block, Alec has not allowed himself to commit to any woman, due to a terrible tragedy years before. He finds himself falling for Faith, and in the time he spends with her, she helps him slowly come out of his writers block. Will Alec find a way to get past his past, which is still ongoing, to commit to Faith.

This is a wonderful fun story, but it is also an emotional read; especially when we feel Faith’s pain, and her fear of opening herself to others. Not to mention when we learn more about Alec’s predicament, though I personally did not agree with him willing to give up his happiness for a lost cause.

Kelly Moran has written another heartwarming story, a great addition to her Covington Cove series.   If you enjoy a sweet romance, small town atmosphere, great secondary characters, and a wonderful couple, then All of Me is the perfect read for you.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 1, 2015

The only fire he can’t put out…

Jordan McKenna is back in town, and Fire Chief Gavin McGuire’s feelings when he sees her after all these years are as raw as the day she left. Then he was just a kid wearing his heart on his sleeve. Now he spends every day trying to atone for the tragedy he couldn’t prevent.

Is the torch he carries for her…

Jordan’s life has not exactly worked out the way she expected. A divorced mother of two with a failed acting career, Jordan’s biggest concern about coming back to Old Brookfield was seeing her first love. But when a series of suspicious fires breaks out, Jordan and Gavin realize that dealing with the sparks between them may be the least dangerous of their problems.

•••••••••

REVIEW: BRAVE THE HEAT is the first installment in Sara Humphreys contemporary adult The McGuire Brothers romance series focusing on the McGuire brothers from the fictional town of Old Brookfield, New England. This is Fire Chief Gavin McGuire, and divorced mother Jordan McKenna’s second chance storyline.

Told from dual third person perspectives BRAVE THE HEAT focuses on the rebuilding of a relationship between Jordan and Gavin-two people whose lives were destroyed fifteen years earlier when Jordan walked away and never looked back. Following her divorce, with her two young daughters in tow, Jordan returns to Old Brookfield and the past that has all but haunted her life. Knowing Gavin is now the Fire Chief wasn’t a surprise, but the pain and hurt in his eyes, was more than Jordan could bear.

Gavin have never stopped loving Jordan McKenna. For fifteen years he has constantly thought about the one that got away; the whys and the what fors; never once coming close to understanding the reasons why Jordan ran without saying goodbye. Jordan’s return to Old Brookfield reawakens lost emotions and needs for Gavin but also for the woman he has never forgotten. But Gavin’s need to pursue Jordan will be placed on hold when an arsonist puts a plan into action forcing Gavin to walk away when yet, another loss, adds to Gavin’s already heightened sense of guilt and betrayal.

The relationship between Gavin and Jordan has already been established; BRAVE THE HEAT is a second chance romance for two people whose lives changed the day Jordan ran and never looked back. In fifteen years neither one took the opportunity to contact one another or rekindle the friendship, and it is the loss of time that hurts the most. The romance is seductive without the over the top graphic sexual content.

We are introduced to the secondary and supporting characters including Gavin’s brothers: Ronan, Tristan, Finn and Dillon; their mother Carolyn and father Charles who are about to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary; and Jordan’s best friend Maddie, along with her fire fighter boyfriend Rick. Several townsfolk play a role throughout the story including one that is both frightening and deadly. Jordan’s ex husband makes a cameo appearance but his storyline fizzles without resolution.

The world building focuses on the relationship between Jordan and Gavin, and Jordan’s return to her home town but it also looks at the fires threatening a small town and its people. The McGuire family is a well to do and well loved family in Old Brookfield, and it is their history that the local school principal likes to remember and reminisce.

BRAVE THE HEAT is an entertaining, engaging and fun read. The premise is intriguing and impassioned; the characters are colorful, family oriented and spirited; the romance is emotional and intense. Sara Humphreys writes a passionate tale of second chances, friendships and loss.

Guest Post

Men in Uniform by Sara Humphreys

Who loves a man in uniform? ME!!! I also love a band of brothers and that’s why I simply had to write The McGuire Brothers series. These five sexy bros are all men in uniform and they are as devoted to each other as they are to their jobs. When the guys introduced themselves to me (I know that sounds weird but that’s kind of how it feels when the characters come to life in my head) one of the first things they told me about themselves was which uniform they wore.

Gavin, the hero in Brave the Heat is the oldest and the fire chief in their hometown. Ronan, the second born, is a K9 officer in New York City and a die-hard ladies man. His longest relationship, outside of his family, is with his partner, a bloodhound named Bowser. Tristan is the middle son, and admitted bad-boy. A former Navy SEAL, he is now freelancing as a gun for hire and bodyguard. The twins, Finn and Dillon, are the youngest of the bunch. Finn is an armed first responder in Miami and Dillon is an Air Force pilot but is on leave due to PTSD.

What I love most about these heroes-and all men in uniform-is their unwavering commitment, fiercely protective nature, and a clear sense of right and wrong. They are devoted to family and their mission-whatever that may be. All uniforms are sexy, except for maybe the UPS or mailman gear. If you find a hot mailman or UPS guy…please share.

To celebrate the release of my McGuire Brother series, I’m here to count down my fave men in uniform from movies and television:

1. Ryan Kwanten in True Blood: I know his character was a hapless dope and the fact that he became a Deputy was…ironic. BUT he did look great in his cop uniform. And out of it.

2. Keanu Reeves in Speed: He didn’t exactly wear a uniform but he did play a cop. And a damn fine sexy one too.

3. Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon: What I loved most about Riggs was how damaged he was by the loss of his wife. The man was totally devastated and clung to the shredded remnants of his sanity. What saved him? Love. But not the love of a woman. It was the love of the Murtaugh family that brought him back from the brink.

4. Timothy Olyphant in Justified: One word. Sexy. Dead freaking sexy. The boy has a stride that will make a woman blush. Seriously. All he has to do is walk…and I’m hooked.

5. Russell Crowe in L.A. Confidential: Granted, Crowe’s character didn’t really wear a uniform but he did wear a badge. He might have taken some ethical liberties but it was all in the name of righting wrongs and getting the bad guys.

Gavin, and all of the McGuire brothers, wear their uniforms proudly and like most men in service, they are as devoted to their families as they are to their duties. I think it’s that quality which stands out above all the rest-devotion. Isn’t that what all of us want? We want to be loved, cherished, and protected and no one does that better than a man in uniform.
