About the book: Release Date February 22, 2016

Dante Notte has heard it said that love hurts. He just wasn’t expecting it to run him over in an RV. Still, a punctured lung and broken ribs are nothing compared to the full-body shock he feels whenever he’s near the vehicle’s driver, Mary Winslow. He needs to keep her safe from their pursuers while he rescues his brother. Most challenging of all, he needs to claim this smart, stubborn woman as his life mate.

The naked, injured, insanely gorgeous younger man who clambered into her RV insists they belong together. If Mary wasn’t feeling their incredible connection in every inch of her being, she wouldn’t believe it. But now that the men who took Dante’s twin are after her too, trusting her gut means risking her life for an immortal who’s the very definition of a perfect stranger.

Review:

Runaway Vampire begins with a bang. Or a boom if you like. As Mary is headed south in her RV, she is a bit uneasy as this is the first trip she’s made down by herself since her husband died. Then, in a flash of movement and sound, Mary slams on the breaks because she thinks she hit something. Although everything in her tells her she should stay inside the RV, she just can’t, in good conscience, leave something or someone injured. She gets her flashlight and heads out, but doesn’t really see anything. Still uneasy, she runs back into her RV and heads out. Something seems off though and when she goes to check things out in the back of her RV, never in a million years did she expect to find a naked and very injured man in her small bathroom.

As things progress, Dante starts talking about him and his brother being kidnapped, something called life mates and immortals. Of course, Mary thought that he probably had a concussion from being ran over by her RV. She had no idea how much that “bump” in the road was about to change her life, and Dante had no idea how much being the “bump” in the road would change his life……

I love Lynsay Sands. She does such a great job telling touching stories that also make you laugh out loud. For real laugh out loud. I loved Mary’s attitude. For her to be in her 60s and have such a hot “young” thing be attracted to her was hysterical at times with the thoughts that ran through her mind. I’ve waited, as I’m sure all Sands fans have, for Dante’s book. He is one of those that readers just fall for immediately. When I started this book and saw that Mary was his life mate and that her husband had died and she had a daughter, I thought that maybe for the first time, I might not like the story. Which, in the scheme of things being 23 books deep, would not have been the worst thing……… Fortunately, I was waaaay wrong. Readers will absolutely fall in love with Mary and Dante, just as I did. Also love the fact that we just about always get to see our buddies from previous books, which is always a plus. If you’re looking for a quick, fun and sexy read, you can NOT go wrong with this or any of the Argeneau Series. Well done, Lynsay Sands. Very, very well done!

Cloaked by T.F. Walsh – a Review

Cloaked by T.F. Walsh – a Review

CloakedAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo

Description:
Raised by an overly protective wulfkin pack, Daciana leaps at the chance to venture into the human world for her one-year independence ritual. But after someone steals the endangered bear cubs she’s been assigned to protect, she must locate them or lose her job and return home in disgrace. The sexy inspector on the case isn’t making this any easier. He knows nothing of her kind, and wulfkin rules forbid relationships with humans.

Newly divorced Inspector Connell Lonescu trusts no one but himself. He’s convinced relationships are a waste of time and thinks burying himself in work will ease the pain. Yet he’s attracted to the gorgeous and mysterious Daciana, even if there’s something slightly odd about her. Can Connell learn to trust the sexy but secretive woman?

Review:

Cloaked is the prequel to Cloaked in Fur by T.F. Walsh.  Prequel is a good term to describe it.  It’s an interesting glimpse into the life of Daciana, a moonwulf living out her one year of rohang.  Rohang was a tradition where the wolf lived among humans and away from the pack and if she made it through the year without drawing attention to herself, she’d be considered a full-fledged pack member.

Daciana worked at the Animal Research Institute where she took care of bear cubs.  Upon arriving at work one morning, Daciana learned that the bear cubs had been stolen and she was determined to help the police find the criminals and save the cubs.  This would put Daciana in the path of Connell, the detective assigned to the case.

With Daciana’s wolf sense of smell, she will prove to be vital to finding the bear cubs.  Daciana had to be careful and not let Connell know she was a wolf.  Working together, they solve the mystery of the missing cubs and fall for each other at the same time.  Their passion is electric and the relationship is great until the one year of rohang is almost over.

Daciana is supposed to return to her pack and leave Connell behind.  How can she do that?  What can she do to stay with him?  Cloaked is a great lead into Cloaked in Fur.  You get a better glimpse into the beginning stages of Daciana and Connell’s relationship.  Although this prequel doesn’t have many pages, there’s plenty of action to keep you intrigued.  Cloaked makes you want to read Cloaked in Fur to see what happens next!

SNAP: I, Vampire (Kandesky Vampire #9) by Michele Drier-Review and Guest Post

Snap I, Vampire

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 3, 2016

Maxie Gwenoch, LA-based media star, VP for International Planning for the multi-national gossip conglomerate, SNAP, has finally agreed to marry Jean-Louis Kandesky, a 500-year-old Hungarian vampire a leader of the family that owns SNAP.

Is marriage a big change? Not as big as the fact that Maxie is now a vampire, as well. When munitions from the Kandesky Enterprises weapons plant in Slovakia turn up at the bombing of a Royal’s house in England, Jean-Louis and his “brother,” Nik, are hot on the trail of shadowy terrorist groups dealing in international weapons sales. Are the Kandesky arms being sold to terrorists groups? Should Maxie use her new-found vampire strengths to ferret out the scum?

•••••••••••

REVIEW: I Vampire, is book nine of the SNAP series by Michele Drier. This is Maxie’s story of being the newest member of the Kandesky vampire family.

We begin this tale on Maxie and Jean-Louis’s “honeymoon” in an exclusive and private chalet in the Alps. After days of mind-blowing sex, snow-filled views, peace and quiet out couple is ready to head back to reality and their very busy, albeit luxurious, lives. Maxi only a little unsure of herself, due to sometimes forgetting that her life has changed so drastically.

Jazz and Nik greet them at their Kiev home and we’re off on adventure. Author Drier uses recent headlines around the world and current issues to build an adventurous and exciting storyline. Terrorists have bombed the home of a British noble (a bit removed from the throne line…but royal none the less).

The casings found at the scene have implications for Kandesky Munitions, a huge problem for the family. This begins a story of intrigue, danger, and Kandesky style shopping for our girls, Maxi and Jazz.

With her usual and talented flair, we’re taken through plots, subplots, and things unseen. An exciting run through many exotic places as they draw out and eliminate the threats to the family. Along with all this adventure is a slow thread of romantic interest for Jazz and Nik; Maxi remembering her and Jean-Louis’s road to bliss.

If you haven’t started this series, you have some catching up to do…get started! If you’re a fan of this series, it’s another thrilling and imaginative exploit into this world. A great read, I had to stop what I was doing until I finished it! Enjoy everyone, I love this series!

Staying interested

Writing a series is both fun and nerve-wracking.

Fun because you get to spend time with people you love and know well.

Nerve-wracking because those people have to be growing, changing, finding themselves in new situations with new challenges.

When I sat down to write SNAP: I, Vampire, I knew the main theme of the book was Maxie’s first few weeks or months as a vampire. She’d given up all she ever craved in the regular world—sun, days at the beach, food—to be with Jean-Louis in everlasting life and love.

In the world of the Kandeskys, things change. Not the Kandeskys themselves, they’re 500-or-so- year-old Hungarian vampires. For them, their days…and nights…have a continuity and sameness, safe and predictable. But because they chose centuries ago to live in the world of regulars, they face challenges they must adapt to or lose their family.

They’ve overcome their ancient enemies, the Huszar vampire family; threats from Chechen thugs who want to take over SNAP, the family’s cornerstone property, and outwitted forays from Bulgarians, Russian oligarchs and Azerbaijanis.

Now, one of their other properties, Kandesky Munitions, the Czech factories that Nik is responsible for, have been implicated in a bomb explosion at the house of one of the British Royals. Torn from their idyllic, and sex-saturated, honeymoon on the top of an Alp, Jean-Louis and Maxie must unravel the threats from a group of terrorists. ISIS? Al Qaeda? A wholly new unnamed group? Who knows.

In tracking down the thugs and arms dealers, Jean-Louis and Nik fill the cells in the basement of Jean-Louis’ Kiev house with low-level scum and fun and mayhem ensue.

I’m a news junkie, and all interesting and weird bits of trivia from around the world are grist.

I have a file (a pile?) of small pieces of paper, sticky-notes, print-outs I’m intrigued with. Every so often some of them make it into a book. This time, it was terrorist threats, from articles on the international arms trade.

The Kandeskys live in the rarified atmosphere of the world’s superrich. The possibilities of kidnapping, secret trade agreements and working with shady arms merchants are always their cost of doing business.

And terrorist groups from the Middle East and Eastern Europe are just the latest news.

Stay tuned. There will be more.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 15, 2016

She’s one addiction he can’t resist.

Wyatt Jennings has been called a lot of things by the media. Bad-boy rocker. Intense drummer. Addict.

Finally out of rehab and desperate for a fresh start, Wyatt rejoins his mega-platinum rock band Shaken Dirty as they prepare for their world tour. But Wyatt’s demons are never far behind, always nipping at his heels for one. More. Fix.

Enter Poppy Germaine, the band’s new social media consultant. A beautiful bombshell who somehow manages to get underneath Wyatt’s skin, Poppy’s an addiction Wyatt can get behind. And even though she’s with the label—and therefore off-limits—he craves her. Needs her.

Except Poppy isn’t actually a social media consultant. She’s the daughter of the label’s CEO, sent undercover to babysit Wyatt and keep him from falling off the wagon again. Proving herself to her father is Poppy’s only goal—until she finds herself in Wyatt’s bed. But if Wyatt discovers the truth, it could send him spiraling all over again

•••••••

REVIEW: FADE INTO YOU is the third installment in Tracy Wolff’s contemporary, adult, erotic Shaken Dirty romance series. The series focuses on the members of the rock group Shaken Dirty. This is record executive Poppy Germaine, and Shaken Dirty’s drummer Wyatt Jennings’s story line. FADE INTO YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Poppy and Wyatt) FADE INTO YOU looks at addiction, lies, and heartbreak as Wyatt Jennings discovers that rehab is only the start on his long road to recovery. Wyatt is an addict-alcohol and heroine are his drugs of choice-but a few hours out of rehab and Wyatt is struggling to stay clean and sober. Enter Poppy Germaine-an executive from the band’s label-but a woman working under the guise of a social media princess. What ensues is the building relationship between Poppy and Wyatt, and Wyatt’s battles with his demons, his past, and the members of the band.

Poppy is on assignment, and with it comes the responsibility of her father’s record label but Poppy is no newcomer to the music scene. As our heroine struggles with her attraction to Wyatt, she finds herself falling in love with a man who battles both internal and external demons.

The relationship between Poppy and Wyatt is one of insta-lust that begins within minutes of Poppy mistakenly making out, in a dark alley, with Wyatt Jennings. Poppy needs to overcome her crush on the band’s drummer to effectively take control of Wyatt’s sobriety but saying and doing are two different things when Wyatt’s need for Poppy is almost as strong as his addiction to alcohol and drugs. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense. There is no denying the intense heat of want and need but the insta-lust/love felt a little too rushed even for an insta-love story line.

The world building continues to look at the band’s infrastructure: their struggle to find a new bassist in light of Micah’s betrayal; Wyatt’s battle with staying clean and sober; and the band’s potential fall out with their recording label.

FADE INTO YOU is an emotional story line about one man’s fall from grace, and the demons he continues to battle from past through to the present. The premise is dramatic and intense; the characters are impassioned and real; the romance is a quick build to a happily ever after.

Fade Into You teaser

Excerpt

He was on fire. There was no other way to describe it, no other words to do justice to what she was seeing. What she was hearing. Wyatt was in the back right corner of the stage, but it was like he was the only one out there. Like there was a giant spotlight focused right on him while everyone else was just standing around in the dark.
Obviously, that wasn’t true. The whole band sounded amazing. Ryder’s vocals were right on, Jared’s guitar playing was phenomenal as usual, and Quinn was as close to perfect on the keyboards as a human could get. It was crazy.
More, it was like it had been two days since they’d played together instead of two months. That’s how well they blended together, how well their styles meshed. Sure, Li was a little off, just as she’d known he would be—he was good, but his skills weren’t up to their level and his style was too removed to work with what the others were throwing out. Plus, he wasn’t coming close to keeping up with the drum line Wyatt was laying down, which was a problem considering bass and drums worked hand in hand in most Shaken Dirty songs.
But then again, it wasn’t like keeping up with Wyatt was easy at the best of times. And now, when he was mounting a full-on assault on those drums? Even Jared and Quinn were struggling to stay with him and this was their music. He was their drummer.
But hell, she didn’t think any musician in the world could be on that stage tonight and be anything but overshadowed by what Wyatt was doing. His stick work was so fast, so precise, so fucking brilliant, she wouldn’t be surprised if his whole kit burst into flames right in front of him. There was a part of her that wondered how it hadn’t already.
Music was her life, and rock was the genre she was most passionate about. She could name every member of every halfway decent rock group in the world, could list off the best singers, best guitarists, best drummers and bassists and keyboardists to ever live, along with their best performances. And she would swear that at this moment, no drummer she’d ever heard—not Keith Moon, not Dave Grohl, not Josh Freese, not even Charlie Watts—could hold a candle to Wyatt Jennings. He’d always been amazing, had always been brilliant at making the drums the creative backbone of every Shaken Dirty song, but right now, in this club after two and a half months of rehab, stone-cold sober and wailing away on the tom-toms, he was the best she’d ever seen. The best she’d ever heard.
And she wasn’t just thinking that because it had only been an hour since he’d given her the two most intense orgasms of her life…
Which she still couldn’t believe she’d let happen.
Not with Wyatt.
Not when she had a job to do that so specifically revolved around him.
Not when she’d worked so hard and for so long to prove her father wrong…one slipup, one moment of giving in to the fire she worked so hard to keep tamped down, and she might have fucked it all up.

*WARNING : This book contains explicit language, sexual content, and abusive scenarios that could be a trigger for certain individuals.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: DAWN OF FOREVER is the third and final installment in Jewel E Ann’s contemporary, adult JACK AND JILL romantic, suspense series focusing on twins Jillian and Jackson Knight (aka Jessica and Jude Day). Their continuing story, in witness protection, alternates between the past and the present using reflection, memories, flashbacks and stories that change power dynamics in too many ways. DAWN OF FOREVER is not a standalone novel and should be read in series order.

NOTE: DAWN OF FOREVER contains scenes of graphic violence and abuse, and may not be suitable for all readers.

Told from several third person points of view DAWN OF FOREVER is an imaginative, intelligent and psychotic thrill ride of betrayal, revenge, and an all-consuming love that will never die. Throughout the series we have been up front and center in the lives of twin siblings Jillian and Jackson Knight-in witness protection-following the death of their parents to an unknown assailant. Jessica and Jude Day prepared for the day they would have to run, and leaving behind everyone they knew meant giving up on a happily ever after including a happily ever after for now. Jessica left behind a grieving fiancé who was all but destroyed by the knowledge that he was never enough. Fast forward one year and Jillian’s identity is blown, and the ensuing battle finds our heroine struggling to survive, and her brother on the hunt for a final show down.

DAWN OF FOREVER looks at a love that has survived beyond death; that was never truly buried along with one’s heart or one’s soul; a love that never diminished even when the reality of everything that went down was revealed in a raw, ugly torment of black and white. The battle of one man tortured by his past; his need for revenge; and his unwavering determination to enact punishment where it rightfully belongs. We are privy to the stolen moments between lovers whose future is like the seeds of a dandelion-too fragile to withstand what nature has in store; and the rise of two siblings who have fought for their right to survive and take back what is rightfully their own.

Jewel E Ann’s JACK AND JILL series is a passionate series of romance and love; betrayal and revenge; victimization and surviving against the odds. The imagery is graphic and violent; the torment and humiliation are heartbreaking and real. DAWN OF FOREVER is an impassioned story from a truly remarkable author. Jewel E Ann’s soul depth analogy of emotional and physical heartbreak is a remarkable testament to her writing talent. An amazing and intimate storyline that will evoke a myriad of emotions and feelings from anyone who has the chance to read Jewel E Ann’s JACK AND JILL series.

Tugging off her shirt, she smiled. Gone were the compression bras; she didn’t burn them, but they were hauled off with the trash shortly after the infamous refrigerator sex. Lace, satin, and underwire took their place.
“What you’re doing right now feels more intimate than anything you’ve ever done to me with your mouth.”
“We’ll see about that.” He wet his lips, eyeing her white lace bra. Approval glimmered in his eyes.
She removed the rest of her clothes, eager to be in his arms. He took a step back as she moved toward him.
“Stop.”
She froze. Her hands searched for a place to be: hanging idle at her sides, covering her breasts, shielding her neatly-shaven pussy?
“Repeat after me.”
“What?” Her voice squeaked with disbelief.
He grinned as his ego gobbled up her confidence. “I’m beautiful.”
Ryn squinted.
“Say it.”
She sighed. “I’m beautiful.”
“I’m taking back every bit of confidence that bastard took from me.”
It would never happen like that, but someone who hadn’t been in her shoes could never understand. However, she loved the naked man standing before her for saying it.
“I’m taking back every bit of confidence that bastard took from me.”
“I’m worthy of happiness.”
That one hit harder than it should have. She’d never given happiness much thought.
“Say it.”
“I’m … I’m worthy of happiness.”
“I’m going to marry Jackson Knight and love him in spite of his multiple fucked-up personalities.”
“Jackson—”
“Say it.” His voice carried a rare pain and vulnerability.
“I’m going to marry Jackson Knight…” she stepped closer and rested her hands on his chest “…and I’m going to love Every. Single. One. Of his fucked-up personalities.”
“I’ve had a shit day,” he whispered, brushing his thumb along her cheek. “Until now.”
She nodded slowly, then looked up at him. “I’ve had a shit life … until now.”
“Touch me,” he said.
“Where?”
“Everywhere. Make me feel human again.”

A Friendly Flirtation by Christine Warner – a Review

A Friendly Flirtation by Christine Warner – a Review

A Friendly FlirtationAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / BAM / The Book Depository

Description:
Allison Hall is fed up with being a social outcast. Even at the tech company where she works for her brother and his best friend, Jared, she’s the invisible nerdy girl. What she needs is confidence—and that requires a makeover and dating tips. And she knows just the man to help…

Jared Esterly is shocked when Allison asks for his assistance and turns her down, knowing that her brother—his business partner and best friend, Nick—would kill him if he dated her, even if it is just for practice. But when Al’s attempt to make changes on her own fails spectacularly, Jared reluctantly steps in. Things heat up quickly, and soon lessons move from the salon to the bedroom.

When overprotective big-brother Nick discovers Jared is dating Allison, their friendship and business partnership sour. Allison, consumed by guilt, must make a choice: stay with Jared, even though that means ruining his friendship with Nick and possibly his career, or leave the one man who sets her on fire.

Review:

A Friendly Flirtation by Christine Warner is the third book in her Friends First series.  This book belongs to the third Esterly brother.  You don’t need to read them in sequence.

Nerdy girl seeks adventure and a new image, and a lot more confidence, so she asks her brother’s friend and business partner to help. When he turns her down, she tries to go it alone, the result ….. Epic fail !!!

Allison comes from a male dominated family, so being a tomboy was the norm, and now she is sick of being ignored, no dates on the horizon, and she’s still a virgin.

Jared has no such problem, tall and a ladies man, he has no problem with the opposite sex. So he takes pity on her and helps her out. And along the way he falls for her…..

You get the feeling that both Allison and Jared have a few secret feelings about each other.  Jared wants what Allison wants, he wants love and family, he’s not really the playboy everyone thinks he is. But even pretending to date his best friend’s sister is a line he just can’t cross. He loves his second family, they have been the family he always wanted.

After falling for each other, Allison’s brother finds out, and so say he’s not best pleased is an understatement. Will the friends remain friends ?

And what about Jared and Allison, will their friendship and new love flounder? Or like the Hershey kisses they both enjoy, will it be sweet and forever.

It’s a great read.
