ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 17, 2016

Let me count the ways why falling into forbidden love is not my wisest move…

1. She works with me every single day.
Did I mention she’s gorgeous, sweet, kind and smart?

2. She works in my home.
Playing with my five-year-old daughter. Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means…

3. She’s the nanny.
And that makes her completely off-limits…But it doesn’t stop me from wanting her. All of her.

***

The other nannies in this city don’t call him the Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention, the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around.

I can’t risk my job for a chance at something more…can I? But I don’t know how to resist him much longer either

••••••••••••

REVIEW: THE SEXY ONE by Lauren Blakely is a stand alone, erotic romance story line focusing on business investor Simon Travers, and his daughter’s nanny Abby Becker. Although a stand alone story several characters cross over from Lauren’s previous story line: Spencer and Charlotte (Big Rock), and Nick and Harper (Mr. O).

Told from dual first person points of view (Abby and Simon) THE SEXY ONE is a forbidden romance story line between twenty six year old, part time nanny / language teacher Abby Becker, and thirty four year old, businessman/single father Simon Travers. Abby has lusted after her employer since the day they first met but as her boss, Simon was strictly off limits. Meanwhile, Simon’s infatuation with his daughter’s nanny forces our story line hero to reconsider his relationship with Abby Becker. What ensues is the building romance between two people who have danced around one another for months

The world building focuses on the relationship between Abby and Simon’s daughter Hayden; Simon and Hayden, as well as Abby and Simon. There is no outside conflict brought into the story, only the ‘forbidden aspect’ of Simon’s lust after his daughter’s nanny. Simon is a divorced father, and his feelings for Abby place our heroine temporarily in the off limits zone. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive.

THE SEXY ONE is a sweet, lighthearted and passionate story line with a little bit of humor, romance and steamy $ex. The premise is engaging and heartwarming; the characters are animated and energetic; the romance is playful and alive.

The Sexy One Teaser

excerpt

This man can kiss. His lips taste so good as he kisses me with a tenderness and a hunger that’s entirely new in my experience.
This kiss vibrates and spreads through my entire body, as if I’ve been shot full of liquid beauty, like gold and silver flow through my veins. He slides his tongue across mine, and I want to grab him, straddle him, and just kiss the daylights out of him, even in this crazy, dangerous cab.
I hardly care that our first kiss isn’t on a moonlit balcony or under the stars. This kiss was inevitable, especially after the last few nights, all these days, and then this afternoon. All our moments have been marching to this as Simon kisses me with such reverence that I want to melt into him. I rope my fingers through his soft hair, and I truly can’t believe I’m making out with Simon Travers in the back of a cab after we watched a documentary on zebras.
I wish I could say that alarms sound, telling me how risky it is to kiss the man I work for. But all I hear is the rapid beat of my heart, leading me closer to him.
Simon runs his thumb along my cheek, and that soft touch makes me tremble. Somehow I wriggle closer, my breasts pressed to his firm chest. He groans. It’s carnal and masculine, almost like a warning. But neither one of us heeds it. We simply can’t stop. We’re those people. The kind who go crazy in public. I feel insane right now. Crazy and wild and reckless.
His hands are on my face, then my hair, and then the back of my head. He is all heat and passion. The way his lips sweep over mine, the way his tongue explores my mouth, and most of all, the way he holds me—it all makes me want to grab those strong shoulders of his and slam him down on top of my body. I want to feel him slide my wrists over my head, pin them, and then smother me in kisses everywhere. I want to let go beneath his mouth, arch into him, urge him to explore my body the way he seems to want to.
The car jerks to a stop.
Abruptly, we separate, but only slightly.
He blinks and breathes out hard as he glances around. We’re all the way in Columbus Circle. Holy shit. We kissed for blocks upon blocks.
My lips miss his. I thread my hand into his hair. “We shouldn’t do this,” I say, though it hardly sounds like a protest as his hair falls through my fingers.
His eyes float closed, and his mouth is open, his breath coming in harsh pants. “We definitely shouldn’t do this,” he says, his voice low and smoky as he sighs deeply at my touch.
“You’re my boss,” I say, pointing out the obvious.
“You’re my—”
Whatever he was going to say next is cut off when he brushes his lips against my forehead, then over my face, dusting my cheek, my eyelids, my jawline.
My skin sizzles. My stomach flips. I want to live inside this kiss. “Don’t stop,” I murmur as his lips mark me.
He travels to my neck, and I tilt my head to the side. He layers kisses all along the column of my throat, the delicious mix of his rough stubble and his soft lips sending sparks to my very core. My body is hungry, eager for him, and I’m going to need a new word for want because what I feel for Simon is so much more than that.
It’s yearning. It’s non-negotiable. I have to have him.
“I don’t know that I can stop with you, Abby,” he whispers, and my name falling from his lips is exquisite and sensual.
In it, I hear his complete and utter need for me, and it’s thrilling—because it matches my heart. It matches my body, too.

Ghost Maker
Ghost Seer series – Book #5
by Robin D. Owens
Release Date: October 18, 2016

Ghost MakerAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / BAM

Description:
With Clare’s health fading, she and her partner—the love of her life—detective Zach Slade, head to Manitou Springs, Colorado, in search of the only healer who can help them: the ghost of Sister Juliana Emmanuel, whose healing skills live on in the afterlife.

Unfortunately for Clare, the nun’s ghost is elusive, and the town is teeming with spirits who all want to speak with Clare—newer ones, street kids who’ve been killed and want their bodies found and their murders avenged.

Now, with the help of Zach and Sister Juliana, Clare must find the killer before he strikes again. But to do so, she will face an evil that could destroy everything she and Zach hold dear—including their love…

Review:

Ghost Maker by Robin D. Owens is the 5th book in her Ghost Seer series.  Ghost Maker begins not too long after Ghost Talker left off.   Clare still has an injury caused by an evil ghost, and nothing the she or Zach, or even Enzo (their ghost dog spirit) do can fix the injury.   While she slowly tries to recover, Clare continues to take on cases to allow people to speak to their loves that have passed on or help ghosts who need to move on to heaven.  Zach worries about Clare’s injury, as he can see her health deteriorating.

Zach becomes involved in a mystery about a missing boy.  At the same time, they find out that there is a healer, who may be able to help Clare.  They to Manitou Springs, Colorado to look for the ghost healer.  Sister Juilana Emmanuel cannot move on, since she feels she must take care of the other ghosts, and help the young boys being tortured by an evil ghost.  Clare will try to work with Sister Juliana to help the boys and find the ghost who inhabits another person’s body.

The case intensifies with more deaths of young boys, and Zach’s case comes closer to finding the missing boy. What follows is an exciting story with Clare putting herself at risk to find the killer, and helping Sister Juliana.

Enzo plays a big part in helping Clare, and I adore this ghost dog; he is so much fun.  I can actually feel the cold when he goes through Clare.  J   In Ghost Maker, the romance between Zach and Clare escalates to more scorching sexual encounters, and they do have hot chemistry. As much as I love Clare and Enzo, and the recurring supporting characters, at times I do get annoyed with Zach.  He is stubborn, and comes across as unlikable at times, though he does love Clare.

Once again, Robin D. Owens does a great job continuing the flow of Clare becoming more and more content in her seer abilities and to want to help ghosts move on to heaven. These are fun stories that take place in western towns, with ghosts usually from the same era in the old west.  I suggest you read the first book in this series to be able to understand how Clare slowly evolves.

REVIEW: It was supposed to be another rescue mission to Raul and his team of Watcher Lash warriors. To rescue the hostages that Splinter captured. What Raul didn’t expect was that one of the hostages was the girl he left behind in his home town to become a Watcher warrior. Sparks fly as they both realize that their inner fires for each other never died out despite the time and distance from each other.

Yowza! Wow! Hot damn! Those are the expressions to describe Raul and Daphne’s chemistry. I seriously felt like sparks were flying off the pages at times with their off the charts chemistry. It was like their time away from each other and being reunited only made the flames burn hotter.? Reunited and it feels so good ?sure did for this couple that’s for sure. I really enjoyed their love scenes. Their love scenes were so full of passion and rawness to it. It was the perfect mix of carnal desire and soft core romance. The ending sure was something. When Raul and Daphne finally tell each other that they love each other was so emotion-packed it was impossible for the scene to not tug at the heart strings.

Aside from all the lovey-dovey action going on between Raul and Daphne, there was many elements to like about this book. I was enjoying the second chance at love concept. The character development and growth was most definitely appreciated. Daphne is very likeable but her character came off very timid. She desired a simple life of being a teacher, being mated and having children. There is nothing wrong with what she wants in life but when she comes to accept and embrace Raul’s way of life as a warrior, I felt my admiration for her grow. And when she was able to put her fears aside to use her powers to help Raul and his team, my respect for her continued to grow.

Closing thoughts, I really liked this one. I highly recommend this one you won’t regret it. You get off the charts chemistry, awesome character growth, and appearances of previous characters that we all love.

When they uncover a room full of Jacobite treasure, proof of his ancestry, Ian realizes he’s out of time. If the ghost is real, it could expose his secret and destroy his romance with Lara. Ian must convince her she and her twins are the future he truly wants.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: Just in time for Halloween! Waiting for the Laird is a delightful romance/ghost story by author Willa Blair. I began reading last night, late. Thinking I would just read a little and then head to bed. Oops! About 3:00 am I finally had to force myself to stop and get some sleep…yes, it was that good.

While it is a romance/ghost story, it’s not a completely chilling scary one. I found it delightful, the romance is a widow with twins, continuing to finish her husband’s dream of renovating the old Scottish keep, Cairn Dubh. She’s been grieving for a year and is beginning to be ready to heal and move on. Lara MacLaren finds everything she needs in Ian Paterson, an excellent renovation specialist and general contractor, or so she thinks.

Ian Paterson is an honorable and delicious man. With dark auburn hair that has those wonderful copper highlights, a toned body from construction, and a marvelous highland accent. He also has a few secrets. Ones that he’s afraid to let Lara know because he wants to keep this renovation job and, if possible, her and her children.

The romance builds slowly, with respect to her decease husband, very believable and well done. You get to know a bit about the characters, their joys and sorrows. The children are a boy and girl twin pair, 9 years old with all that the enthusiasm and willfulness you’d expect. The mysteries abound in this delightful tale. Secret rooms, treasure, and danger. It’s great to have a ghost story that won’t make you afraid to go to bed at night. In fact, you’ll probably wish for a ghost of your own.

Give yourself a treat and grab this book, you’ll have marvelous time, I certainly did.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 17, 2016

A note from the author: Please be aware that BEHIND CLOSED DOORS was once released as just 3 chapters on my website and Storage Treasures. I have since fully completed this novel into 21 chapters (plus an epi-logue). Readers will get a FULL-LENGTH book and finally learn the rest of Skye and Jason’s story! The middle and end to this book have NEVER been published before so please take time to check it out!

Jason “Red Bull” Wise. Famous millionaire poker player. Rich. Sexy. A man who knows what he wants, goes after it, and never loses. He’s being blackmailed. He thinks Skye is behind it.

Passion. Danger. Secrets.

Are you ready?

From New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones comes a brand new gripping and provocative novel that ties into her bestselling Careless Whispers and Inside Out series. You can enjoy this as a standalone, but fans of Careless Whispers and Inside Out will get an exciting glimpse of who Ella really is and some of the secrets she’s been hiding from everyone she knows.

•••••••••

NOTE: BEHIND CLOSED DOORS is a complete, full sized novel.

REVIEW: BEHIND CLOSED DOORS is the October 2016 installment in Lisa Renee Jones’s contemporary, adult CARELESS WHISPERS romantic suspense series. This is professional poker player Jason Wise, and Skye Montgomery’s story line. BEHIND CLOSED DOORS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. For followers of the Careless Whispers series, BEHIND CLOSED DOORS reveals a little bit more information about that series’ heroine Ella Ferguson.

Told from first person point of view (Skye) BEHIND CLOSED DOORS follows Skye Montgomery as she is pulled into a blackmail scheme targeting professional poker player Jason Wise. With Skye’s recent auction acquisition of a storage unit our heroine finds a high-stakes poker chip in an off-site locker that will immerse her into the world of Jason Wise. There is something in the storage unit that Jason wants, and our hero believes Skye knows exactly what that is. What ensues is the building relationship between Jason and Skye when Jason gives Skye the opportunity to accompany him to the championship tournament in Vegas. When Jason’s blackmailer follows the couple to Las Vegas, all bets are off as Jason is determined to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love.

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS ties together Lisa Renee Jones’s INSIDE OUT SERIES, and its’ spin off counterpart series CARELESS WHISPERS as some of the background information about Ella Ferguson slowly begins to reveal.

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS is a sexy story line of insta-love, insta-attraction with a happily ever after for two people pulled together by a woman whose own life is beginning to unravel. There is a little bit of mystery and suspense; intrigue and betrayal; sexy times and falling in love. The premise is entertaining and enjoyable; the characters are animated and passionate; the romance is intimate and fated.

I did have an issue with the rush to the finish and the eventual reveal of the person blackmailing our hero. The convoluted path involving Ella Ferguson was a vehicle to introduce some background information for the ongoing Careless Whispers series but I struggled with its purpose to the current story other than to connect the two together. Perhaps the association will be more apparent with the release of SURRENDER (Careless Whispers #3) in January 2017.

Wicked RivalsAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / BAM

Description:
A LORD WITH LEGENDARY CONTROL…

Merciless and powerful, Ashton Lennox is a wealthy man because he puts business before everything else, especially love. As a member of the infamous League of Rogues, he’s no stranger to scandal. His bedroom conquests are as legendary as his fortune. As he searches for a way to bring down an old enemy bent on destroying the lives of his friends, the last thing he needs is a Scottish widow getting in his way.

A FIERY WOMAN WHO WON’T BACK DOWN…

The daughter of a Scottish lord with a dark and treacherous past, Rosalind Melbourne has spent years distancing from her past. After escaping her tyrannical father and marrying an aging English lord, she has become a powerful widow with a business empire at her command. Her business dealings are everything to her, leaving her no time for love. Especially not with her business rival Ashton, a man with a scandalous reputation as striking as his blue eyes.

A GAME OF WITS TURNS TO A GAME OF SEDUCTION…

Ashton is fascinated by the strong-willed, intelligent and sensual lady who, up until now, had outsmarted him at every turn. Rosalind wishes she could deny she is falling for the brooding, handsome baron. How can she possibly trust him when doing so could cost her what she values most—her freedom? When Ashton discovers Rosalind might hold the key to saving the League of Rogues, he knows he will do anything to woo his wicked lass. As their pasts return to haunt them and dark forces rise to keep them from exposing a deadly spymaster, their game of love turns to a game of survival…

Warning: This book includes a brooding baron who’s wild in bed, a crafty Scottish lass who never knows when to quit, a wicked game of strip chess, and a merry band of rogues whose first instinct is to run they hear wedding bells ring.

Review:

5 out of 5 for this reader folks!

DANG, this is a great book.  This series just keeps getting better and better! 🙂

Wicked Rivals is a historical romance by one of my fave authors Lauren Smith.  It is the 4th book in her “League of Rogues” series and it follows the story of Ashton and Rosalind.  I suppose you could read this as a stand alone, but you will miss much in the back story, which is important to deliver the true impact of this story.  There is a continuation of a larger story with romance matching weaved in.  So by all means enjoy this story, but I dare say you will enjoy it more if you have read the previous three.

Ashton Lennox is one hot rogue.  He is first and foremost loyal to his fellow rogues, a serious businessman, not to be messed with and holding a serious grudge towards a certain lovely Scottish lass.

Rosalind Melbourne happens to be the lovely Scottish lass that is driving Ashton nuts.  She is widowed, running her late husbands business like a pro (and really causing havoc for Ashton’s business), staying away from Scotland due to a terrible past, and determined to make things happen her way no matter what it takes.

When Ashton has decided enough is enough, he decides to purchase all of Rosalind debts in order to control her.  Rosalind however, is not to be contolled and she decides to confront Ashton in his own home and set him straight.  However, Ashton has a sweet side, and Rosalind has a vulnerable side, and once these sides are exposed to the other, we have a game of cat and mouse.  This game gets quite serious though, and before we know it hearts and bodies cannot resist the other.  Our villain Waverly (from the previous books), is still a serious danger, and suddenly he is way to close for comfort.  When marriage is placed on the table as a means to control and to protect, Ashton and Rosalind need to get out of their own ways, and find their way to a trusting relationship together.  That will be the only way these two can fight Waverly.

SO MUCH MORE to this book than this brief synopsis.  The pacing of this book was bang on.  I felt the anxiety of the danger lurking, the softness of a romance blooming and the heat .. well oh my .. Lauren can write the heat!  LOL  So well matched Ashton and Rosalind were, and once again, we are set up for the next book.  I also love that the wives from our previous books are banded together to keep our “League of Rogues” on their toes.  I adore these woman as much as I do their men!  LOL

Fantastic book, fantastic series and most definitely a “go to” author in the historical romance genre.

HAPPY READING! 🙂

As Florida’s sultry days turn into even hotter nights, Logan’s out to convince Alexis that the fling of a lifetime could just maybe turn into forever…

Review:

To Love and to Cherish by Lauren Layne is the 3rd and final book in her Wedding Belles series.   As I read the final chapter in this series, I was sad.  I will miss this series; all the characters were great, the stories were wonderful and fun;  Lauren Layne is now on my authors I must read list. I read this book in less than a day, as I could not put it down.

To Love and to Cherish belongs to Alexis Morgan and Logan Harris, whom we have been waiting for since the start of this series.  Though at times I thought Alexis was too stubborn, and I wanted to smack her on the head, but all in all, she was a wonderful and strong heroine throughout the Wedding Belles series.   We always knew that Logan loved Alexis from the start, patiently awaiting her to realize how much he loved her.  But Alexis only saw her love for The Wedding Belles, until she was forced to attend her sister’s wedding.

It was her sister, and her soon to be husband that made Alexis want nothing to do with love, and getting hurt again.  After all, her sister’s fiancée had been her boyfriend, who dumped her for her sister.  The scars of that rejection has stayed buried deeply in Alexis’ soul for 6 years.  Logan has waited so long, and now grabs the opportunity, with help from his friends from The Wedding Belles (the ladies and their men).

What follows is a beautiful heartwarming story of Logan surprising Alexis at the wedding, and being there for her, and at the same time, showing a different side of him.  Now he was in full seduction form, and Alexis was taken by surprise.  Alexis and Logan had wonderful chemistry together, and it was great to see her open her eyes as to how much she cares about Logan.  But will she get beyond her deep scars, and admit that she is falling in love with Logan?

Once again, all three ladies and the men they love made for wonderful delightful stories.   They are sweet romances, with the wedding planners background and just simply fabulous couples that were a joy to read.  Thank you, Lauren Layne for this wonderful series.   The Wedding Belles and those fantastic ladies will be missed.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 13, 2016

What if you could paint with reality?

Elijah Brighton can bring a girl back from the dead, travel outside his body, and absorb a lifetime of memories from anyone he touches in the fugue state. Everyone seems to think he’s the prophet they’re waiting for… including the girl he’s falling in love with. The truth is, the fugue is bleeding over into reality, bringing his sketches to life and haunting him with visions of a girl in metal armor. She stabs him with her blade and denounces him as any prophet worth the name—and it’s not like he disagrees.

People who change the world generally aren’t losing their minds.

He just wants to hide out in his tent and kiss Kamali, but a vision of his death and an attack on the Human Resistance Movement convince him something bigger is coming. Maybe Augustus—the power-mad ascender he barely defeated. Maybe the Makers, a tinkering cult with their own kind of ascendance. But when his best friend Cyrus disappears, questions of destiny and prophethood will have to wait—because the fugue is always showing a version of the truth, and Eli must discover that truth before his terrifying visions become reality.

The Illusory Prophet is the third book in the Singularity series. This young adult science fiction series explores the intersection of mind, body, and soul in a post-Singularity world.

REVIEW: THE ILLUSORY PROPHET is the third full length installment in Susan Kaye Quinn’s young adult (YA) SINGULARITY sci-fi/ dystopian series focusing on the merging of mind, body and soul with the technology of the future.

BACKGROUND: The ‘Singularity’ resulted in most of the world’s population transforming themselves into a hybrid known as the Ascended-part man/part machine but the few remaining humans become what is known as the Legacy-the true descendants of humankind. The Singularity series looks at the struggle between the Ascended and everyone else.

Told from first person point of view –seventeen year old Elijah Brighton -THE ILLUSORY PROPHET is the continuing story of man versus the hybrid machine known as The Ascended. As the face of The Resistance Elijah’s presence is both a curse and a blessing- our hero has the ability to bring the recently deceased back to life; travel outside of his body; and absorb the memories of those he touches while in the ‘fugue’-all of which are a threat to those battling for command and control. Elijah’s trips into the ‘fugue’ find our hero straddling between the body, mind and soul but it is Elijah’s growing abilities that threaten to destroy any semblance of peace when he is targeted for destruction.

Susan Kaye Quinn merges spirituality and God with a transcendental philosophy of abstract beliefs and the battle for power and control. The premise focuses on a belief system wherein all that is human is found in the souls of mankind, and with it the possibility that the Ascended have lost their souls when they opted for immortality and life ever after. The connection between body, mind and soul is a constant theme throughout the series. The search for the truth finds our hero battling for survival and the lives of the people he loves.

The Singularity Series blends the familiarity of The Hunger Games and Divergent with Star Trek nanobyte technology ala The Borg, and an artificial intelligence of the collective mind. The cult-like factions of the Resistance battle one another for dominance but are at a distinct disadvantage as the Ascended continue to prevail. Elijah Brighton is thought to be the ONE-the savior foretold to deliver mankind from the destructive nature of the Ascended.

Susan Kaye Quinn’s SINGULARITY series is brilliant in its inception; a post-apocalyptic ‘movie’ for the mind where technology, omnipotence and the battle for control is a threat to the survival of man in the future. The writing is flawless; the author’s imagination is intelligent and inventive; the premise is dramatic, energetic and wondrous.

REVIEW: THE LEGACY HUMAN is the first installment in Susan Kaye Quinn’s young adult, Singularity Dystopian, Sci-Fi series that looks at the merging of technology with the body, mind and soul. Following the ‘Singularity’ that resulted in the most of the world’s population transforming themselves into a hybrid known as the Ascended, the few remaining humans become what is known as the Legacy-the true descendants of humankind.

The storyline follows seventeen year old Elijah Brighton who desperately wants to Ascend. An artistically gifted young man whose Ascended ‘patron’ Lenora knows there is more to Eli than a canvas and paint but Elijah’s talent comes at a price. When Lenora’s second (lover) Marcus offers to ‘sponsor’ Elijah for the Legacy Creative Olympics, Elijah jumps at the chance to become one of the Ascended in order to keep his ailing mother alive. With life ever lasting and access to all knowledge the ultimate prize, the Ascended are both revered and despised by the human population. To become one of the Ascended, technology must marry the body, mind and soul-but what becomes of the soul when your humanity is stripped away? To be Ascended means to become part of the whole; your choices are no longer your own.

THE LEGACY HUMAN parallels some of the premise and many of the scenarios found in Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games and Veronica Roth’s Divergent. Young men and women, under the age of eighteen must compete against one another to become one of the Ascended. If they win, their families and friends will benefit from the Ascended privileges but there is also the probability that they will never make it out alive. Sides are formed; allegiances sworn; a revolution is on the horizon. The Resistance is waiting for Elijah’s next move.

The world building is amazingly detailed, well organized and revealed as the storyline develops; the characters are colorful, eclectic and unique. Susan’s imagination knows no boundary.

Susan Kaye Quinn looks at the philosophical and theological questions: Does mankind really have a soul? To become one of the Ascended do we lose the freedom to think; to love; to believe in a higher power? If you had the choice to become one of the Ascended, would you risk your soul for everlasting life?

About the book: Release Date August 15, 2015

What does it mean to be human?

Elijah Brighton is the face of the Human Resistance Movement. He’s the Olympic-level painter who refused an offer of immortality from the ascenders—the human/machine hybrids who run the world—in solidarity with the legacy humans who will never get a chance to live forever.

Too bad it’s all a complicated web of lies.

Worse, Eli’s not even entirely human. Few know about the ascenders’ genetic experiments that left him… different. Fewer know about the unearthly fugue state that creates his transcendent art—as well as a bridge that lets him speak to the dead. But the Resistance is the one place he can hide from the ascender who knows everything the fugue can do. Because if Marcus finds him, he’ll either use Eli for his own nefarious purposes… or destroy him once and for all.

The Duality Bridge is the second book in the Singularity series and the sequel to The Legacy Human. This thrilling new young adult science fiction series explores the intersection of mind, body, and soul in a post-Singularity world.

REVIEW: THE DUALITY BRIDGE is the second installment in Susan Kaye Quinn’s young adult, sci-fi Singularity dystopian series focusing on the merging of mind, body and soul with the technology of the future.

BACKGROUND: The ‘Singularity’ resulted in most of the world’s population transforming themselves into a hybrid known as the Ascended, the few remaining humans become what is known as the Legacy-the true descendants of humankind.

Told from first person point of view –seventeen year old Elijah Brighton-THE DUALITY BRIDGE is the continuing struggles of man versus hybrid machines, and the battle for control of the power and the collective mind. Our hero Elijah is more than just the face of the Human Resistance Movement, he is believed to be the ONE sent to save the world, but Elijah is more than the sum of his mother’s DNA-Elijah is a genetic experiment whose powers are slowly being revealed.

THE DUALITY BRIDGE is a storyline awash in familiar sci-fi and dystopian scenarios found in The Hunger Games, Divergent, and a little bit of the Matrix and Star Trek cyborg nanobyte technology. But THE DUALITY BRIDGE also takes a close look a God and spirituality; a system of belief wherein the sum of all that is human is found in the souls of mankind, and with it the possibility that the ascended have lost their souls when they opted for immortality and life ever after. There are definitive cult-like scenarios both in and out of the collective mind; and the promise of forever for those who worship at the altar of the ascended.

THE DUALITY BRIDGE has a large ensemble cast of characters that continuously loop between reality and the fugue. The premise is a study in philosophical, psychological and transcendental assumptions, knowledge and understanding-even the Dhali Lama pontificates about man, technology and the otherness.

The world building is a movie set for the mind. Elijah Brighton is the BRIDGE-the Duality-the ONE-foretold to be the savior of the world-Susan Kaye Quinn’s mind knows no boundary as it takes the reader into a future where man is no longer in control.
