Good girl, Lexie Rollins is a wedding planner on the lam. All she did was defend herself (with a staple gun) against a sleazy groom—who knew the Assault and Battery charges would stick? Now Lexie’s “vacation” at an exclusive resort has put her at the top of gorgeous bad boy bounty hunter Nick Vardolous’s list. And sexy Nick always gets his woman-every which way imaginable…

**Previously published as You Give Love A Good Name in the Sun, Sand, Sex Anthology.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: GOOD, BAD & SEXY by Jennifer Lyon is a stand alone, erotic, romantic suspense story line focusing on event planner and part-time writer Lexie Rollins, and bounty hunter Nick Vardolous. GOOD, BAD & SEXY is the re-release of a novella originally found in the Sun, Sand, Sex Anthology.

Told from dual third person points of view (Nick and Lexie) GOOD, BAD, & SEXY follows Lexie Rollins-a good girl whose life has fallen apart following charges of assault against a former client. When her family refuses to believe her side of the story regarding a would-be stalker who has taken control of her life, Lexie takes off on a much needed vacation away from family and the person who is trying to destroy her life. Enter Nick Vardolous, the man sent to ‘retrieve’ Lexie for an upcoming court appearance, and the man who has called to her heart. What ensues is the building relationship between Nick and Lexie, and the ongoing hunt for the stalker whose access to Lexie continues to grow.

The relationship between Lexie and Nick is one of immediate attraction. Months before Nick and Lexie met through Nick’s sister’s wedding and our hero offers Lexie one night of passion without strings or hard feelings. Nick is not the kind of man to enter into a long term relationship, and Lexie is a good girl; a woman who wants more than a quick jump in the back seat of a car. Meeting at the exclusive resort finds Lexie letting go of her good-girl persona, looking for something more than Nick has to offer but Nick is a man whose jealousy comes between Lexie and her fun. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive.

We are introduced to Nick’s former partner and best friend Mac Koontz and his wife Shelly, as well as a myriad of phone exchanges between Lexie’s family and our story line heroine.

GOOD, BAD & SEXY is a quick read; a captivating story of suspense and romance; of one woman’s struggles to break free of her controlling family; and one man’s desire to let go of the past. The premise is playful and energetic; the characters are colorful and impulsive; the romance is passionate and hot. The stalker scenario is straightforward and the identity easily deduced. GOOD, BAD & SEXY is an exciting and fated story of love and second chances.

Description:
After his unusual reaction to a weapon, Commando Varean Donnelly is accused of being a shape-shifting alien and imprisoned onboard the Imojenna. Sure, he has abilities he keeps hidden from everyone—including the gorgeous doc examining him—because the government makes sure people as different as him disappear. For good.

Imojenna doctor Kira Sasaki knows there’s something different about the handsome commando the captain’s thrown in their brig. She doesn’t think he’s Reidar, although he might have been a victim of their cruel experiments. But when Kira learns the stubborn commando’s racial make-up, she finds herself torn between defending him to Captain Rian Sherron and his crew or urging Varean to escape while he still can.

Review:

Diffraction by Jess Anastasi is the third novel in her Atrophy sci-fi series. And to be honest, they do need to be read in order.

Captain Rian Sherron and his crew are slowly winning the battle against their sworn enemies the Reidar. (Aliens who can shift to look like humans, their goal is to impersonate key personnel throughout human organizations, and take over),  Rian has helped developed a weapon which makes the Reidar emerge and show themselves but has no affect on humans. When Varean has a weird reaction to the weapon, Rian imprisons him on his spaceship.

Commando Varean Donnelly has been imprisoned aboard a space ship after failing a test to prove he is human. He didn’t react like the aliens either. So what is he?
And he won’t tell anyone what he is, he’d rather remain in the brig !

Doctor Kira Sasaki knows there is something different about Varean, she believes he may have been experimented on by the Reidar. But she doesn’t think he’s a threat to the humans, and nor does she hold with the punishments that are doled out to the prisoner either. But something isn’t right, and the more she finds out, the harder it is to defend him to the captain and crew. And mysterious accidents start happening, so the tests are hampered.

And there are some hints regarding Rian’s past when he worked for the aliens. So was he experimented on? Or is he really an alien ?  The action scenes are well written. And there are plenty of twist and turns and the ending …… not what I was expecting

Just as she’s starting to feel ready to move on, he walks in, all cocky smiles and blue-collar charm. She’s determined to keep her focus where it should be: on her thriving jewelry business. But as he lays siege to her heart, she wonders just how long her defenses will last .

••••••••••••••

REVIEW: CLAIMING THE BILLIONAIRE is the fourth and final installment in J. M. Stewart’s contemporary, adult SEATTLE BACHELORS erotic, romance series. This is jewelry designer Cassandra ‘Cassie’ Stephanopolous, and US Army Staff Sergeant Tyler Benson’s story line. CLAIMING THE BILLIONAIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. We were first introduced to Cassie in the earlier stories, as well as Bargaining for the Billionaire #3.

Told from dual third person points of view (Cassie and Tyler) CLAIMING THE BILLIONAIRE is a second chance story line; a rekindling romance between jewelry designer Cassie Stephanopolous, and Army Staff Sargeant Tyler Benson. Three years earlier Tyler walked out of Cassie’s life, and headed to war in the Middle East. News would come home that Tyler was missing and presumed dead, and for three years our heroine grieved for the man who had stolen her heart. Fast forward to present day wherein Tyler Benson returns home, a broken man held prisoner by the Afghanistan army, but a man who is hoping for a second chance with the woman he loves. What ensues is Cassie’s struggle to accept that Tyler isn’t ready to settle down; and Tyler’s ongoing battles with PTSD and the demons that follow.

The relationship between Cassie and Tyler is one of second chances. Tyler’s return brings with it relief, anger, and betrayal for a woman who thought she had moved forward with the loss of the man that she loved. Cassie has a difficult time accepting Tyler’s reentry into her life, and struggles to come to terms with his need to rekindle what they once had. From the outside looking in Cassie’s handling of Tyler’s return is nothing short of self-centered and immature, and I struggled with my perception of the story line heroine but saying that each person handles grief differently and Tyler’s return from the ‘dead’ is shocking. Tyler is a man desperate to hold onto the one thing that kept him alive throughout his ordeal in an Afghan prison-his memories of Cassie. But his nightly terrors and PTSD dreams threaten the tenuous hold our hero has on his sanity and his love. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense; provocative and passionate.

All of the previous story line couples play secondary and supporting roles. It was nice to revisit with all of the couples as well as a look into what the future has in store.

The world building looks at the emotional impact on those left behind, and the PTSD that the men and women suffer when the world becomes overwhelming and the lines of reality begin to blur.

CLAIMING THE BILLIONAIRE is an emotional and heartbreaking story line of survival, second chances, and love. The premise is profound and timely; the characters are broken, passionate and inspiring; the romance is intoxicating and intense. J. M. Stewart’s SEATTLE BACHELORS series is an enjoyable and impassioned look at four couples, four friendships and four happily ever afters.

About the book: Release Date January 10, 2017

Sydney Walker’s new job is perfect. As the live-in nanny to the most famous quarterback in the NFL and his beautiful wife, she couldn’t have it any better. Their kids are adorable. Her bosses are more than generous. Plus, there are hot football players at the house all the time. Life can’t get much better than this.

Until her life turns into an absolute nightmare. The media is abuzz with rumors that she and her boss Drew Callahan are having a torrid affair. Everyone knows the truth—except the public. So Drew’s wife Fable comes up with the perfect idea.

She creates a fake relationship between Sydney and one of the rookie players on Drew’s team. Wade Knox is forever indebted to Drew and Fable and readily agrees to the set up. Pretending to be in a romantic relationship with the hot nanny for a week—how hard can it be?

Crazy how it only takes one week for two people to fall head over heels in love…

••••••••

REVIEW: SAFE BET is the fourth installment in Monica Murphy’s contemporary, new adult THE RULE romance series. This is twenty two year old, NFL wide receiverWade Knox, and nineteen year old nanny Sydney Walker’s story line. SAFE BET features characters from Monica Murphy’s THE RULES and ONE WEEK GIRLFRIEND (Drew and Fable) series, and can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Sydney is Gabe’s (In the Dark #2) younger sister; Wade is best friends with Fable’s brother Owen (Four Years Later-Drew and Fable).

Told from dual first person perspectives (Sydney and Wade) with a couple of chapters from Fable Callahan’s POV, SAFE BET focuses on the ‘fake girlfriend’ premise following the media reports that Sydney is having an affair with her boss Drew Callahan. Weeks earlier Sydney found herself homeless and in need of a job when she lied to her millionaire parents about college-the fact that she didn’t intend to go to college at all. Fast forward and her brother Gabe finds our heroine a position as the nanny for one of the NFL’s hottest quarterbacks, but in the ensuing weeks Sydney will find herself immersed in a paparazzi scandal when images of her and Drew Callahan surface purporting the sports hero to be having a torrid affair with his live in nanny. Enter Wade Knox, the Niners’s newest recruit, and Drew’s friend, and the man who will steal our heroine’s heart. What ensues is the fake boyfriend/girlfriend arrangement that quickly turns into something more.

SAFE BET is a story of family, friendship and love; a ‘one week girlfriend’ scenario that focuses on distracting the media from the lies they have propagated in the hopes of taking down a professional sports hero.

The relationship between Sydney and Wade is one of immediate attraction but Sydney does not want to lose her job with an ill-timed affair with her boss’s friend. The ‘fake girlfriend’ scenario is perfect until the heart wants something more. The cross over between series brings familiarity and some backstory to fans of both THE RULES and DREW AND FABLE’S (One Week Girlfriend) series. It was wonderful to catch up with Drew and Fable, and their expanding family, as well as Owen and Chelsea, and his rising star. The premise is sweet and sexy; the romance is fated; the characters are spirited and lively. SAFE BET is a lighthearted story with passionate characters and wonderful happily ever after. There is very little external conflict affecting the couple’s relationship.

“Drew!” Fable calls, waving him over. “Come meet Sydney.”
He starts to head over there and when he sends me a look over his shoulder, I reluctantly follow him. I really don’t need to be involved in this scenario, but I just can’t tell him that, can I? It would be rude. And I’m never rude to Drew and Fable.
Ever.
“Sydney, this is my husband, Drew. Drew, this is Sydney Walker. She’s going to be our new nanny,” Fable says, sounding pleased. She looks over at her husband with a little wince. “I hope you don’t mind that I went ahead and hired her.”
“Of course I don’t mind. I trust your judgment.” Drew turns to greet Sydney. “Good to meet you,” he says as he gives Sydney a firm handshake. She’s staring up at him, her lips slightly parted, her eyes wide. Full on awestruck, which is typical. He’s a superstar. That’s how most people look at Drew when they first meet him.
“Hi,” she squeaks, her cheeks going pink as she releases Drew’s hand. Her gaze slips to mine, and then flitters away. But that one quick glance was like a sucker punch to my gut.
The nanny is beautiful.
I take a deep breath, shoving my hands in my jeans’ pockets so I won’t do something stupid—like try to grab her. She has pretty blue eyes and a full mouth that’s made for kissing. Her curves are even lusher than I first realized. She has full hips and a tiny waist and shapely legs. But I can’t worry about pretty nannies right now. I have to concentrate on work.
It still blows my mind that I might play for the NFL. That football is my job. I’m a lucky son-of-a-bitch.
“Sydney, this is Wade Knox. He’s an old family friend,” Fable says, knocking me from my thoughts. I blink and look down to find Sydney smiling up at me, interest clearly showing in her gaze. Hmm. “Wade, this is Sydney.”
“Hey Sydney.” I shake her hand, electricity pulsing between us the moment our palms touch. She jerks her hand away from mine as if I burned her. Guess she felt it too.
Interesting.
“Nice to meet you,” she murmurs as she takes a step back. Like she needs the distance.
Even more interesting.
We make small talk for a few minutes before Fable takes Sydney back to the house, and the moment the door shuts behind them, Drew’s talking.
“The nanny’s cute,” he observes, his voice way too nonchalant.
“Uh huh.”
“She looked at you like she thought you were cute, too.”
I roll my eyes. He never says stuff like this, so what’s his deal? “Cute? What are you doing? Trying to play matchmaker?” I send him a pointed look. “Give me a break. I don’t need the distraction.”

This only spurs Tristan into action. He loves nothing more than a challenge. And the beautiful Alex is exactly the type of challenge that intrigues him.

And when Tristan discovers who Alex and her family really is, can he forgive and forget?

REVIEW: SLOW PLAY is the third installment in Monica Murphy’s contemporary, new adult THE RULES romance series focusing on a tight night group of college friends. This is Tristan Prescott, and Alexandria Asher’s story line. SLOW PLAY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person points of view (Tristan and Alexandria) SLOW PLAY focuses on the building relationship between two college students –Tristan Prescott and Alexandria Asher. Tristan’s reputation as a manwhore precedes his introduction to Alexandria Asher. His acerbic personality, rude comments, and childish behavior are three strikes against our story line hero that continue to grow throughout the series. Alexandria Asher is a young woman who once had it all but her parent’s fall from grace has left Alexandria struggling to make it on her own. Meeting Tristan Prescott pushes all of her buttons because she is attracted to the man who gets on her nerves. What ensues is the growing love between two people who keep secret their dark and heartbreaking pasts where lies, betrayal and secrets will come to the surface and destroy everything they had together.

The attraction between Tristan and Alexandria is immediate but Alex has a difficult with Tristan’s less than appropriate behavior and sexual come-ons. Tristan is a man who goes for what he wants and he wants Alex in his bed and between the sheets. He is cocky and self centered; extremely gifted when it comes to the woman in his life. He is not looking for a relationship and in this the struggle between Tristan and Alex continues to grow. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense.

All of the previous story line couples play secondary and supporting characters including Jade and Shep (Fair Game #1), and Gabe and Lucy (In the Dark #2), as well as an assortment of friends, roommates and potential love interests.

The world building continues to focus on the love lives of several college friends. There is a wide assortment of personalities that allows for a continuous growth in the character development. There are several references to ‘Sex in the City’ and if you are a fan you will recognize most if not all.

SLOW PLAY is a sexy and intimate story; the push and pull of heartbreak and passion. The premise is enjoyable and pleasant ; the characters are passionate and animated; the romance is tender and encouraging.

REVIEW

5 out of 5 for this reader folks!

FANTASTIC HIGHLAND ACTION PACKED READ!

Ok! I got that out of my system! But seriously .. FANTASTIC! LOL

Highland Spy by Madeline Martin is the first book of her brand new “The Mercenary Maidens” series. A historical romance set in the early 1600’s at a time when King James ruled over both England and Scotland, this story follows a smexy highlander who is stuck between a rock and a hard place in life, and an English noblewoman who he saves in the most unconventional way.

Connor Grant is the Laird of the Grant tribe by law, but after a devastating past, he is now King James personal “task” man. His tasks general consist of blackmailing young woman to join his little spy group, assassinating anyone the king needs gone, and to be obedient in the midst of it all. King James has something over Connor .. his lands and people. With hesitation and a heavy heart, Connor goes about finding the right sort of ladies, ensures they are compromised, recruits them, trains them and sends them off on missions to seek information for the crown.

Ariana Fitzroy is down and out despite being a woman of nobility. She has lost her family and discovered she has no means to live. She decides while not moral and most certainly illegal, cheating at cards is the only way she can put food on the table. When she is discovered and compromised by Connor Grant he propositions her with a promised future. One she really has no choice but to take.

Connor and Ariana undergo many adventures together in this book, be it through spying and/or personal. They are drawn to each other. They also admire and respect the other which lays out the foundation to a friendship. But when attraction and desire stirs, friendship is the last thing on their minds .. even despite the swirling danger that surrounds them.

Madeline writes an action packed, wonderful layered story! We have flashbacks of Connors life and why he is in the position he is today! He really is a true hero and my heart ached for him many times during this story! Ariana though .. she blew me away. Sure she’s a spitfire and tough, but her soft feminine side left her vulnerable and believable. She is the true epitome of what I love in a historical romance female lead. She wasn’t a push over, but she also wasn’t annoying in a “I am woman hear me roar” way either.

The secondary cast of characters I find are just as important to mention here as well as they held a good chunk of my interest in this story. I can already predict enjoyment of their personal stories as well!

I highly recommend this read if you like your romance a little action packed. Never a dull moment that is for sure. I also have to applaud Madeline Martin for tying this love part of the story up with a simple card game. No one ever loses when poker is played that way! BAHAHAHA

HAPPY READING! 🙂

But when Dani discovers something that sends them both into a spin, the conflicted lovers must overcome the past to navigate a future together

••••••••••••

REVIEW: ON BROKEN WINGS is the third installment in Chanel Cleeton’s contemporary, adult WILD ACES erotic, military romance series focusing a group of U.S. Air Force fighter pilots known as the Wild Aces. This is fighter pilot Alex ‘Easy’ Rogers, and Wild Aces widow Dani Peterson’s story line. ON BROKEN WINGS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty although I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and history.

Told from dual first person points of view (Dani and Easy) ON BROKEN WINGS is a friends to lovers romance focusing on widow Dani Peterson, and Wild Aces fighter pilot Alex ‘Easy’ Rogers. One year earlier Dani lost her husband, fighter pilot Michael ‘Joker’ Peterson to a jet crash in Alaska, while Easy lost his best friend and mentor. For years Easy has been in love with his best friend’s wife but he wasn’t the type of man to carry on an affair with a married woman. Following the death of Joker, Easy had a difficult time with his need to protect the woman he has always loved. As Dani prepares to sell her house, Easy offers to help with the repairs, and their struggling friendship begins to take on an air of sexual attraction. What ensues is the building relationship and love between Dani and Easy, and the battle between guilt and a happily ever after.

The relationship between Easy and Dani is fraught with guilt and remorse. Easy doesn’t want to stain his friendship with his former mentor, and Dani is afraid that to fall in love again means forgetting about the man she lost. Easy is the epitome of the perfect hero-a passionate, heartwarming and emotional hero who struggles with his attraction to his late friend’s wife. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

All of the previous story line couples and characters play secondary and supporting roles. We are witness to the birth of the next generation, and an epilogue that fast forwards the story line approximately one year.

The world building continues to focus on the fighter pilots and their missions, and the men and women left behind. The ‘forbidden’ aspect of Dani and Easy’s relationship is compounded by outside interference, and a series of confusing messages from well meaning friends.

ON BROKEN WINGS is an emotional and heartbreaking story but also frustrating as it pertained the heroine’s inability to move forward without the constant guilt of pushing aside the memories of what was and what could have been. The premise is moving and intense; the romance and attraction are palpable and inspiring; the characters are broken but healing; animated and passionate. ON BROKEN WINGS is a wonderful and poignant story from the pen of Chanel Cleeton.

I closed my eyes for a beat, trying to drown her out, to throw the wall back up, attempting to push her out of the cracks and crevices of my heart where she’d snuck in and taken up permanent residence in my chest.
She smelled like apples. Forbidden-fucking-apples. She looked . . .
My eyes slammed open and my gaze slid over her. I blinked, not sure if it was the scent of apples or the sight in front of me that made me so fucking hungry.
She wore a pair of white shorts that showed off surprisingly tanned legs. A faded T-shirt that likely harkened back to her days as a cheerleader at the University of Georgia. Her red-gold hair was up in a loose braid, her green eyes staring up at me.
I’d been in detox, hoped the months apart would cure this ache inside me every single fucking time I saw her.
They hadn’t.
If anything, the time apart had only made the ache worse.
I fisted my hands at my sides, looking away from her again, her words cutting through me as I focused on the paint cans as though my life depended on it. And then I couldn’t take it anymore, and my gaze slid down to the spot where she touched me, where her fingers rested on my bicep, her skin a few shades paler than mine.
I swallowed, trying to drag more air into my lungs, her hand suddenly as dangerous as a deadly spider.
I had a pretty solid you-can-look-but-you-can’t-touch policy where Dani was concerned. There had been moments when I bended the rules a little bit, like a few minutes ago when I’d seen her standing there amid all the painting supplies looking so lost, as though she was drowning and needed a life raft to pull her to shore, but I paid for every fucking moment in spades.
“You don’t make it worse,” I lied, answering her original question, hating that I’d given her a reason to worry about anyone other than herself. She had more shit on her plate than most people could ever deal with, and the last thing I wanted to do was add to it. I shoved my hands into the pockets of my cargo shorts, breaking the physical connection between us, still not quite able to meet her gaze. Her eyes could bring the most resolute man to his fucking knees.
I swallowed again, wondering if my voice sounded as strained to her ears as it did to mine. “It’s good to see you again.”
Heaven and hell rolled into a knot in my stomach.

Amazon / B&N / Kobo

Description:
He broke her heart. When he finds out just how badly, it will break his too.

Nick Walker found the love of his life when he was just nineteen.

Found her.
Loved her.
Lost her.

It’s been ten years since Nick watched the only woman he ever loved walk out of his life. Now this FBI Special Agent will do anything to win her back.

But it won’t be easy…

Mia’s heart was shattered by Nick. They’ll have to face their painful past if they want a future, including Mia’s own secret about that day it all fell apart.

Do you believe in second chances?

Review:

Worth the Wait begins with the death of Nick Walker’s parents and the enormous responsibility he had to assume:  taking care of 4 siblings, one of whom is an adorable two year old, Hannah.  Determined to finish college and be the kind of guardian he knew his parents would want, Nick soon discovers that Hannah does NOT like to be separated from him.  Thankfully, his professors gave it a chance.  One day, as he was headed to his next class, he has a chance encounter with a young woman, Mia, who piques his interest immediately…..and Hannah’s.

As Nick and Mia’s friendship grows, he finally works up the nerve to take things to the next level, and to his relief, Mia is thrilled.  Both of them have a lot on their plate.  Nick is raising his siblings and going to college.  Mia is pre-med and knows that it will take everything the two of them have to make things work. Several years pass as they both work towards their goals, until one fateful day that will change everyone’s lives in the blink of an eye:  Hannah goes missing.  Days turn to weeks and no matter how hard Mia tries, Nick will not let her comfort him and has closed part of himself off to her.  What follows is an emotional journey that not only tears at the characters’ hearts, but the readers’ as well.

Worth the Wait is a nicely written story that intrigued me from the very beginning.  Nick Walker was immediately relatable and lovable.  The way he stepped in to take care of his siblings after the death of their parents will endear him to everyone.  His sense of honor knows no bounds, until that fateful day Hannah comes up missing.  During that portion of the story, I wanted to reach in and pop him upside of his hard head a few times.  Mia’s sense of family and her nurturing nature endears her as well.  The supporting characters are well written and have left me wanting to know more about their story.  Claudia Connor did a great job pulling the reader in.  Nick and Mia’s chemistry and commitment to each other was almost awe inspiring….almost.  Things fell apart so quickly once Hannah went missing, I found myself wondering if I’d missed something, some nuance of anything that would have led me to believe what happened to their relationship….  I eventually chalked it up to Nick not being mature enough to get past, or through, what happened.  Ten years passes before the two star crossed lovers meet up again and try to navigate their complicated feelings for each other.  Worth the Wait is ultimately a story about dealing with your past and coming to terms with “what was”in order to figure out “what can be”.  Well done, Claudia Connor!  Very well done!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 9, 2017

Chris and Sara from Inside Out return in the explosive finale to Ella’s story from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones with the third book in the sexy, suspenseful Careless Whispers series.

Passion burns fiercely hot between Ella Ferguson and Kayden Wilkens, the man who held secrets and lies in his hands, and then allowed them to fall into hers. But even though he has become her anchor—helping her recover from amnesia after finding her unconscious in an alley, and allowing her into his secret world—all is not what it seems. Kayden still has secrets, and pieces of Ella’s past are still shrouded in the darkness of her mind, while the powerful man who hunts her will not stop until she is his. In this final, explosive novel in the Careless Whispers series, Ella discovers that while her life with Kayden didn’t begin in that dark alley…it could easily end there.

REVIEW: SURRENDER is the third and final installment in Lisa Renee Jones’s contemporary, adult CARELESS WHISPERS romantic suspense series focusing on billionaire businessman Kayden Wilkens, and Ella Ferguson. The Careless Whispers series is a spin off from Lisa’s INSIDE OUT series. Ella is Sara McMillan’s (Inside Out Series) best friend and has gone missing following a trip to Europe. You do not have to have read the INSIDE OUT SERIES to follow the premise of the Careless Whispers series. SURRENDER should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately upon the events of book two DEMAND.

SOME BACKGROUND: While in Italy, American citizen Ella Ferguson was found battered and bruised from an attack that left our heroine with a concussion and traumatic amnesia. Waking up in the hospital beside a beautiful stranger found Ella in a world of confusion with no memories including her own identity and the reasons for her present situation. Enter Kayden Wilkens, American billionaire and Leader of the Italian branch of The Underground (treasure hunting operation) and the man who claims to have saved Ella’s life.

Told from first person point of view (Ella Ferguson) with a few chapters from Sara McMillan’s POV, SURRENDER reveals the truth behind Ella’s trip to Europe, and her connection to the missing butterfly necklace reported to be worth over three hundred million dollars. As Ella’s memory slowly returns the danger increases as the French and Italian mobs search for the missing piece of jewelry, targeting Ella is a dangerous game of hide and seek. As powerful a man as Kayden Wilkens is, he is unable to protect the woman that he loves. What ensues is the return of Ella’s memories, and a planned attack against those threatening everyone Ella loves.

SURRENDER is an exciting and action packed story line of revenge, betrayal, power and love. The revealing and intriguing premise; romance and love; mystery and suspense all combine to draw the reader into an innovative and exceptional conclusion to the Careless Whispers series. The addition and cross over with Chris Merit and Sara McMillan, as well as Blake Walker brings familiarity and resolution; cohesion and history. Lisa Renee Jones adds a brief character description at the start of the story reminding the readers of the ‘who’ and ‘what’ in the previous installments.

SURRENDER and the CARELESS WHISPERS series is an intriguing, imaginative and passionate look at the price of power, and the search for the ultimate prize.

Surrender teaser

excerpt

The sound of the entry door beginning to rise again has me turning and watching it lift. Kayden ducks under it as I had, obviously impatient to find out what I’ve remembered, his leather jacket and his shoulder holster missing, his navy t-shirt hugging his broad, hard chest. It is then that I’m reminded of what made me request that we talk alone, and knowing it’s not something he wants to hear, but has to, I need to ensure he listens. And I need to stay focused on my memories, and what they’re telling me–not what he makes me think and feel, or what the past tells him.
He strides toward me, his energy predatory in this moment. Actually, there is always something rather predatory about him, which is far too sexy to ensure conversation, especially after today’s shift in events. I could be CIA. I could be his enemy, no matter what he says otherwise, and really, truly, right now, I just want to feel him close, to get lost with him in the way he makes me get lost. But there are things bigger than us at stake, things that are far too complicated and dangerous to indulge in such desires, even if they feel almost as if they are needs.
Determined to stay focused, I round the desk placing the massive wooden surface between us. By the time I’ve shoved back the desk chair, claimed the spot in front of it, and pressed my hands to the surface again, Kayden is doing the same opposite me.
His gaze meets mine, his probing, intelligent eyes those of a Hawk who sees the past clawing at me, while fighting to contain it and control it. “Why are you running from me?” he asks.
“I don’t run,” I say, and I can almost hear my father say, “Running makes you a victim. Never be a victim.”
“Then why are you over there and I’m over here, when we’d both much rather you be here or me there?”
“I’m giving us space to have the conversation I need to have with the Hawk–not with the man who loves me.”
The predatory gleam in those pale, too blue eyes of his softens, right along with his voice. “He’s the same person. I will always be the Hawk and the man who loves you.”
