ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 4, 2017

PR agent Annika Lund can spin any disaster into a win. But revamping the reputation of a notorious Swedish hockey player will take every trick in her arsenal, especially when his agent insists that convincing everyone he’s no longer a playboy is top priority. And that it requires a sham relationship—with Annika playing the part of loving girlfriend.

On fire in the rink and in the bedroom, Axl Hammerquist couldn’t care less about being anyone’s golden boy. So when his agent forces him to play nice with a new publicist, he takes satisfaction in being as much of a pain as possible. But the more time he spends getting to know Annika, the more Axl starts to think that being Mr. Nice Guy might be worth it if it gets him the girl.

•••••••••••

REVIEW:

All You Need begins with Axl’s reputation in trouble.. Annika’s reputation in the PR world is legendary due to her Ice Queen veneer and lots of hard work. When Axl’s agent works a little magic behind the scenes with Annika’s mother, Annika is basically roped into helping revamp his star hockey player’s reputation. Annika finds herself disgusted with Axl’s behavior, but also finds herself intrigued, which is the last thing she wants. Axl is sure Annika is just a poor little rich girl but agrees, along with Annika, to work together. Once their mission, for lack of a better term, is underway, it doesn’t take either long to see that neither are what the other thought. What follows is a wonderfully written story that will have you turning the pages faster and faster until the very end.

I LOVE THIS SERIES. The characters are well written and leave you wanting more information about them. Annika is not your typical socialite. She’s compassionate, smart and very loyal to everyone she loves. She is also a very hard worker. Axl started out as a typical off-the-rails and out of control pro athlete. As I read his antics in the beginning, I thought there was no way that James could redeem him. Oh, was I wrong. His and Annika’s chemistry leaps off the page and pulls you right into the story. Yes, there are bumps along the way, misunderstandings and all the trappings of romance angst, but the support they have for each other and from the Lund family itself makes this one a tad different for me. Each and every one of them are very well written, and begging for their stories to be told. This is only the third book in the series, and you can read as a stand along, but I’d suggest going back and reading the first two as well. They are awesome as well. If you’re a romance fan, you will definitely NOT go wrong with this series. Well done, Lorelei James!!!! Very, very well done!

Oaklee Ferguson is the kid sister of Rory s best friend and, even now that she s all grown up, remains immune to the pet-doctor s charms. Still, his care and kindness toward the dog, and his concern for her feelings, catches Oaklee by surprise. . .and soon the two (and rescued dog makes three!) begin to share a deep connection that neither could have ever imagined. Could it be that love has been waiting for them by the bridge all along?

Review:

Somebody’s Baby by Donna Alward is the 3rd book in her wonderful Darling, VT series.  Having enjoyed the first two books in this series, I looked forward to reading Somebody’s Baby.  Since it has become the norm for Alward, I thoroughly enjoyed Somebody’s Baby; perhaps the best one yet.

Oaklee Ferguson, our heroine, is the social butterfly, who is in charge of promoting tourism in Darling, VT.  Oakley leads a busy life, working hard for the town she loves, but her own personal life has her a bit despondent.  One night, she accidently hits a dog, and in her panic to save him, she rushes to the local vet.

Rory Gallagher, the vet and our hero, has just closed  and is upstairs in his apartment when Oaklee arrives with the dog.   Rory, manages to treat the dog, and set his broken leg.  Though they do not hang around, both Rory and Oaklee know each other very well.  Oaklee is Rory’s best friend, Cam’s sister, whom he finds attractive, but always kept his distance, because of Cam.   Oaklee always had a thing for  Rory, but sensed his disinterest, as well as he was known as a womanizer.  Oaklee feels guilty for hurting the dog, and Rory will use that to get Oaklee to take care of Buster, until he is better and a permanent home can be found.

What follows is slow built romances that will have Buster play a big part in bringing them together and each heart will begin to melt.  Both have their own issues that become obstacles in their budding  relationship; Rory loved a girl and her son, who left him heartbroken; Oaklee thought she found the man to spend her life with, only to have him leave her at the altar.  Despite these issues, we knew from the start that we wanted Rory and Oaklee together. They were likeable, fun, and perfect for each other.  If only they could trust each other and leave the past behind them.

Donna Alward once again gives us a wonderful couple, beautiful romance, a cute dog, great secondary characters and even some tears.  This is a fun delightful series that keeps us pining for more.  There are many other characters who can have their stories told, which I for one look forward to.  Somebody’s Baby was a wonderfully enjoyable read, which if you love romances you should be reading this series .  This does read well as a standalone, but why not start with the first book in this series, and enjoy them all.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 4, 2017

Allie Ross is not living the life she once dreamed. Her law career ended before it ever started, her parents landed in jail for running a Ponzi scheme, and she just inherited her grandmother’s B&B—which is nice, even if it is full of extra-toed cats. As for her love life…she’d rather not talk about it.

When Jack Carpenter reaches out to reconnect with Allie, the girl who broke his heart in college, his plan is to impress her with the adult he’s become. Sure, he was a deadbeat then, but life has forced him to grow up. And it’s a relief to find out that things didn’t necessarily go the way Allie expected either.

As Allie and Jack get reacquainted, they rediscover the things they loved—and hated—about each other. But who they are now isn’t who they were then, and secrets—old and new—will test whether they have a future together, or if the past is destined to repeat itself.

••••••••••••

REVIEW: THIS TIME AROUND by Tawna Fenske is a stand alone, adult, contemporary,  romantic story line focusing on the rekindling relationship between Certified Association Executive Allie Ross, and ‘app’ developer Jack Carpenter.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Allie and Jack) Allie Ross and Jack Carpenter were once high school sweethearts and college lovers but sixteen years had passed since the day Allie pushed Jack Carpenter out of her life. Fast forward to present day wherein our heroine struggles with the knowledge that not all is right in her ordered world-law school never came to fruition; her parents are in prison for running a Ponzi scheme that bilked hundreds of thousands of dollars from clients and friends; her beloved grandmother recently passed bequeathing Allie a former B&B that now is home to sixteen polydactyl cats; and the man that Allie once loved has returned to town with a ten year old daughter, potentially looking for a second chance, at a happily ever after. What ensues is the rekindling romance between Allie and Jack, and Allie’s discovery that her grandmother’s attic is a Pandora’s box of secrets and lies.

Allie Ross grew up privileged but the man that Allie loved was never good enough or determined to make something of his life. Allie had plans to attend university then law school but life had a way of interfering pulling Allie in another direction. Jack Carpenter left town and made a name for himself following several years of struggle and the death of the woman he once called lover and wife. With his ten year old daughter in tow Jack returns to the town he once called home, and the woman he is hoping to rekindle the spark.

The relationship between Jack and Allie is one of second chances but Allie is reluctant to reveal everything about her life. Throughout the story Allie begins to shed the protective walls that have encompassed her heart but too many secrets revealed finds our hero walking away without a backwards glance. The $ex scenes are limited, intimate and sensual.

We are introduced to Allie’s ex fiancé and best friend Wade, her parents Priscilla and Nathan Ross, Rosewood B&B custodian Skye, as well as Jack’s ten year old daughter Paige. The world building focuses on the rebuilding relationship between Jack and Allie but also on a lifetime of secrets that slowly begin to eat at Allie’s façade.

THIS TIME AROUND is a spirited and hopeful story line with a little bit of humor, romance, guilt and love. The premise is idealistic and heartwarming; the characters are colorful and realistic; the romance is passionate and emotional. THIS TIME AROUND follows one woman as she battles the realities of life and love.

“Hey, Allie. You planning to show me those dresses?”

“Um, I wasn’t planning on it.” She yanked the first one off the hanger and pulled it on, struggling in the taffeta for a few moments before realizing she had it on backwards. She righted the dress, then reached behind her to do up the zipper.

Crap! She couldn’t reach. Since when had her arms gotten too short to do up a damn zipper? She wriggled and stretched, wishing like hell she’d made a better effort to do Pilates more regularly. She just didn’t have time and—

“Need help with any zippers?”

“Dammit, are you spying on me?”

His laugh bounced through the small dressing room space, and Allie felt her cheeks grow hot. “It’s a solid door, Allie. Floor to ceiling, and no keyhole. No, I’m not spying on you. Paranoid much?”

She tossed her hair, not sure whether to be more flustered with herself or with him.

“Fine,” she said, yanking open the door. “I could use help with the zipper.”

“Funny, I didn’t hear a please in there.”

“Please.” Allie sighed and turned to present her back to him. He was silent a moment, and she glanced in the mirror to see his eyes cast downward toward her ass. Embarrassment bubbled in her gut, but she tried to cover. “Yes, I’m wearing granny panties, okay? Sue me. I haven’t had time to do laundry all week and—”

“I wasn’t judging your underwear, Allie. Just admiring the tattoo.”

“Oh.”

“When did you get it?”

She bit her lip. “A year after college.”

His fingers grazed the small of her back, and for an instant, she thought he was touching the tip of one of the small, orange flames. Then she realized he was reaching for the zipper. He dragged it slowly up her spine, and Allie focused hard on keeping her stomach pulled in, wondering if her muffin top was showing over the top of her awful gray panties.

“It’s very nice. The tattoo, I mean.”

“Thank you.” His hand was still on the zipper, even though she was pretty sure he had it all the way up. The heat of his hand made her shiver.

“What does it mean?”

“The tattoo?” She shrugged, trying to look casual as she smoothed down the front of the dress in the mirror in front of her. She didn’t look up, not wanting to see Jack’s eyes. “It doesn’t mean anything. Just a pretty, fiery design, that’s all.”

“I know you, Allie.” His voice was low in her ear, so close she could feel his breath ruffling her hair. She let her gaze stray up, and she locked eyes with him in the mirror. “You wouldn’t permanently ink something on your body if it didn’t have meaning.”

She stood frozen with her gaze locked on his, not daring to speak. Desperate to break the spell, she turned to face him with an expression she made as blank as possible. “Maybe I would get a meaningless tattoo. You knew the nineteen-year-old version of Allie, not the twenty-three-year-old one I was when I got the ink.”

He raised an eyebrow at her. “Or the thirty-six-year-old one, apparently.” He studied her for a long while, gaze locked with hers, and Allie found she couldn’t look away.

She nodded. “A lot’s changed.”

“That it has.” He was standing close, too close. He was practically touching her. She wanted him to touch her. Just a tiny step forward and—

“Oh, wow! That’s super pretty!”

Allie blinked and took a step back as Paige peered out from under her father’s arm. She smiled up at Allie and reached out to touch the hem of the dress. “You look nice.”

“Thank you.” It occurred to Allie that she’d barely looked in the mirror yet, so she turned to study herself in the full-length one behind her. Not bad. Not bad at all. A little snug around the chest, but it was probably supposed to be. There was a little armpit fat poking out at the top, but the hemline made her legs look good, and fluttered nicely when she turned back to face Jack and Paige.

“Looks like you got lucky on the first try.”

Allie shifted from one foot to the other, not trusting herself to meet his eyes again. “Looks like it.”

“Who was your first boyfriend that you loved?”

Allie blinked and looked at Paige. “Wow. That’s kind of random.”

Jack laughed and ruffled his daughter’s hair. “Not totally. We were just talking about it at the barbershop. We were also talking about how some things are personal and not appropriate questions to ask, weren’t we?”

Paige gave a solemn nod and looked up at Allie. “That’s true.”

Jack gave Allie his slow, lazy smile, holding her gaze for a few beats too many before turning back to his daughter. “Did you need something, kiddo?”

Allie said a silent prayer of thanks that Jack had a talent for distracting his daughter. The girl nodded and held up an armful of clothing. “I wanted to try these on.”

“Looks like someone’s in the room next door,” Jack said. “You’ll have to wait your turn.”

Allie reached behind her neck, fumbling for the zipper. “Hang on, you can have this one. I don’t need to try on the rest of these. I know what I want.” Her fingers gripped the zipper and her shoulder creaked as she tried to pull down. “Just let me get out of—”

“Allow me.” Jack grabbed her by the waist to hold her still, then tugged the zipper down with a bit less finesse than he’d used to slide it up. He stopped just above the small of her back, and Allie wondered if he was preserving her modesty or trying to keep his daughter from seeing the tattoo.

But the kid clearly had eagle eyes. “Is that fire on your back?”

Allie turned around, holding the back of the dress together with one hand as she stole a look at Jack. Discomfort was etched on his face, but he wasn’t meeting her eye. Allie looked at Paige.

“Yes, but I didn’t get it until I was a grown-up,” she said. “The decision to get a tattoo is a big one, so it’s not something you even want to start thinking about until—”

“It looks just like one my dad has.”

“What?”

Paige nodded and pointed to her father’s ribcage. “Right there. Beside his tummy. He has fire, too, only his has—”

“Why don’t we let Allie finish getting dressed?”

Paige looked up at her dad and shrugged. “Okay.”

She can handle it. So what if the chemistry between them is combustible? She’s a professional, damn it. She’ll date Mr. I’m Too Sexy For My Bunker Pants. But it won’t end in the fun he expects.

It’s time to see how much heat this fireman can take…

••••••••••••

REVIEW:  HOT FOR THE FIREMAN is the first installment in Gina L. Maxwell’s contemporary, adult BOSTON HEAT erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women of the Boston Fire Department. This is Ex-Army Ranger and firefighter Lieutenant Erik Grady, and psychologist Dr. Olivia Jones’s story line.

Told from several third person perspectives including Erik and Olivia HOT FOR THE FIREMAN focuses on the building relationship between psychologist Olivia Jones, and fire fighter Erik Grady. Erik aka Wolf Grady is a former Army Ranger who lost two men on his last mission to the Middle East leaving our hero with PTSD and the guilt of making it out alive. A one night stand would change Erik’s life when the BFD assigns him the woman that he cannot get out of his mind. Enter Dr. Olivia Jones, Erik’s one night stand and the woman that would call to Erik’s heart. What ensues is the building love between our leading couple, Erik’s struggle to move on from the past, and one woman’s determination to prove that the man that she loves is so much more than the men that he lost.

Erik Grady suffers with PTSD and no amount of persuasion can convince our hero that his presence in Olivia’s life is anything more than a dangerous situation. Olivia has been trained to help those in need but when a man refuses to accept the love from the woman that calls to his heart, he struggles with accepting the man within.

The relationship between Erik and Olivia begins as a one night stand that soon builds into something more. Olivia must recuse herself from Erik’s therapy and therefore recuses herself from Erik’s life. Erik is more than determined to convince Olivia Jones that they belong together but one too many PTSD episodes pushes Erik to walk away. The $ex scenes are intimate, aggressive and intense although I shudder at the use of one particular word (noun) the author uses throughout her story.

The secondary and supporting characters are lively and animated. We are introduced to several of Erik’s former Army brothers and current firefighting teammates including Gavin ‘Dozer Greer, Ashton ‘Smoke’ Donovan, Sean ‘Bowie’ Evans, and Tyler ‘Preacher’ Connelly; Olivia’s godfather Dr. Eddie Marion, her assistant Cindi, and best friend Angelina de la Vega. Angelina and Dozer have a history that is heartbreaking and sad.

The world building focuses on the struggles of veterans of war including the PTSD, flashbacks, physical and emotional damage. Most of Erik’s co-workers are former military soldiers whose battle the demons brought home from the war.

HOT FOR THE FIREMAN is a story of spirit and survival, passion and romance, healing and loss. The premise is captivating, energetic and riveting; the romance is provocative and seductive; the characters are flawed, playful and sensitive. HOT FOR THE FIREMAN is an intelligent and wonderful start to a new series.

REVIEW: 4.5 out of 5 for this reader folks!

Oh how I love me a Bad Boy! Add a dash of royalty to him and I am sold baby! LOL

Royally Bad by Nora Flite is the first book in her contemporary romance series called “Bad Boy Royals”. This author is brand new to me, and I am happy to have found her as I am eagerly looking forward to the next books in this series.

Kain Badd (yup seriously that’s his last name ..lol) is one bad boy. A hottie in looks, a charmer in personality, he has never had trouble getting the ladies with his straight forward dirty approach. Love em’ and leave em’ has always worked for him and he has no intention of changing that anytime soon. Family and family business is tough work, and he has no time nor desire to worry about a partner as danger and money is the name of his game. A partner is just a worry no one needs. Until ….

Sammy is not necessarily a sweet innocent girl, but she is kind and very caring. She now owns a small wedding dress shop that is sucking in business in her small town, after returning home from a high fashion job in a large city, to take care of her sick mother while still grieving the loss of her father. YUP that’s as consuming as it sounds. She has no time, no interest in love. Until ….

Kain walks in to Sammy’s shop with his tornado of a twin sister (Oh Fran you stole this book ..lol), and before she can wrap her head around anything, Sammy is not only making Fran a wedding dress, but planning her rehearsal dinner, becoming the maid of honour, ending up in the very sexy sack with Kain, trying not to get killed, and living as a well kept prisoner for an undisclosed amount of time. WTF!? LOL Once she can actually stop and take a breathe, she has come to find that she has fallen in love with Kain as he has with her, and secrets so deep begin to surface. Secrets that this Royal Bad guy (oh and yes he is actually ROYAL) and perfect woman for him, have to live with … and then make sure their families can.

There is a whole lot of story going on. Twists and turns that seriously are incredible, and if you believe in fate, then you’ll get a kick out of this book. My only complaint would be that there was a lack of flow at times which took away from some of the believability. It felt like we’d go from one situation to the other and some of it felt far fetched. However, once I decided to let that be what it was, I just kicked back and went on the wild ride too! 🙂

A very fun, very sexy kind of read! If you like to laugh while you enjoy your bad boys, then this book is for you!

HAPPY READING! 🙂

excerpt

She held me like I was the only thing keeping her on the planet. It was a grip reserved for lovers or, in her case, people who had never been on a motorcycle before.

I didn’t have a spare helmet, so I’d forced her to wear mine while I went without. My father would have praised me while my mother would have cracked me upside my temple for choosing someone’s safety over my own.

But she wasn’t here.

And Sammy was.

My engine crackled, gravel flying away from my front tire as I pulled up outside the impound lot. The metal beast purred between my thighs, then it went silent. “Here we are,” I said, twisting to look at Sammy.

Inch by inch, she eased her hands off my middle. They were bent like claws, clearly cramped. I missed them instantly. When she pulled the helmet off, her hair fell from it in tangled strands.

The sight of her stunned face—wide lips, sparkling eyes, and tomato cheeks—made my heart jump. It was a confusing sensation that left me dizzy.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

She focused on me, blinking. “I know how it feels to be a cannonball.”

Laughter exploded from me. “That’s one way to describe it.” My hand came up, stroking hair from her forehead before I could stop myself. We touched through our skin . . . but it was more than that.

Heat plucked at the base of my neck. I couldn’t stop how my brushing fingertips became a firm palm cupping her cheek. My mouth tingled; I knew how she’d taste, I wanted to experience her soft lips as they buzzed with the last of her adrenaline.

Sammy started to lean in. In the blackness of her dilating pupils, I saw my half-open mouth. She must have seen her own expression in my eyes, too. My thumb grazed the corner of her lips; her hand closed on mine, pushing me away.

“Come on,” she said, leaving the helmet on the seat. “Let’s go.”

Recovering from the rejection, I followed her down. Her bare feet touched the hot gravel, but it was her bones—still vibrating with the violence of my bike—that gave up. Sammy buckled sideways, her dress flipping upward as her face crashed straight toward the ground.

Faster than I had any right to be . . . but I just needed to be . . . I caught her by her elbow. It was like the other day in my driveway all over again. We were tangled dancers, and while no one had seen us yesterday, a confused impound worker gawked at us now.

Gentle as a breeze, I scooped her up in my arms. Sammy gasped, which was good, because it muted my subtle groan. Holding her against me was pure pleasure. Her weight was perfect, just enough to keep me grounded so I wouldn’t float into the heavens.

“Kain, put me down.”

“Nope. Have you seen this place?” Stepping over rocks and broken glass, I headed for the gate. “You don’t want to put those heels back on, that’s fine. But if you try to step on this shit with your silky feet, you’ll be seeing blood.”

“My silky feet? Jeez, don’t tell me you have a foot fetish.”

The man waiting by the gate stood up like we were royalty coming his way. He had no clue that one of us actually was. “Hey there,” I said, squinting at his name tag. “. . . Larry. My lady friend here has a car she needs to grab. Show him the paperwork, Sammy.”

Pulling her purse into her lap, she fumbled the yellow papers out, handing them over. The young man took them hesitantly, saying, “Uh, all right. Give me your key, I’ll go grab it.”

Sammy gave them up, then we both watched as Larry trucked off across the giant lot of vehicles. It was like a graveyard for cars, their bodies in various degrees of decay.

The wind kicked dust up, and on instinct, I shielded Sammy from it. Doing so pushed my face close to the top of her head. Hair strands tickled my cheeks, a sensation as nice as her fingers would have been on the small of my back.

“Kain,” she whispered.

My veins quickened. “Yeah?”

“After this . . . I don’t want to see you again.”

She’s always been a writer, and you’ll probably have to pry her keyboard/pen/magical future writing device out of her cold, dead fingers before she’ll stop. Visit her at www.NoraFlite.com, or drop her a line at noraflite@gmail.com.
