Nothing is more important to Blake Anderson than the work he does with his brothers at Ace Security. At least that’s what he thinks until he meets the fiercely independent Alexis Grant. The security firm’s new intern pushes all his buttons—and makes his temperature rise. But giving in to temptation might be risky business.
Alexis can tell that Blake has his doubts about her ability to commit. But while most people look at her and see only a flighty rich girl, she knows he sees much more. Determined to prove herself to Blake, Alexis jumps at the chance to work undercover. And when her case takes a dangerous turn, she puts her trust—and her heart—in his hands.
Now, as Alexis digs into the deadly secrets of a local gang, Blake will lay everything on the line to protect the woman he’s come to love.

••••••••••••

REVIEWCLAIMING ALEXIS is the second installment in Susan Stoker’s contemporary, adult ACE SECURITY erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the Anderson triplets (Blake, Logan and Nathan) and the family owned Ace Security. This is Ace Security co-owner and security specialist Blake Anderson, and new Ace Security intern and heiress Alexis Grant’s story line. CLAIMING ALEXIS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading book one CLAIMING GRACE as much of the current story line premise is a direct result of the events in book one.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Blake and Alexis) CLAIMING ALEXIS follows Alexis Grant as she goes undercover to ferret our information about the Inca Boyz gang, their involvement in the recent attempts to destroy Grace’s (Claiming Grace) life, and her brother Bradford’s entanglement in the blackmail scheme between Inca Boyz and Grace’s parents. While Alexis volunteers to go undercover, Blake struggles with his growing love for the woman that calls to his heart. What ensues are Alexis’s struggle and pursuit to be accepted by the Inca Boyz gang, and the fall out when the ruse is uncovered by someone from Alexis’s past.

CLAIMING ALEXIS is a friend to lovers romance that focuses on the quick building relationship between Alexis and Blake. Alexis has some issues of self esteem that center on what she believes are her less than exemplary physical attributes, and the uncomfortable circumstances that her parent’s money has placed upon her personal and emotional inability to trust. Blake has been attracted to Alexis from the very
start, and his proclamation of need and love is quickly replaced by fear when Alexis volunteers to go undercover with the Inca Boyz gang. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate; Alexis is a virgin whose lack of experience is quickly replaced by exploration and a man who is willing to take his time with the woman he loves. A drunk Alexis tells it like it is; and Blake likes to talk dirty in the bedroom.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Logan and Grace (Claiming Grace #1), Nathan Anderson, as well as several members of the Inca Boyz gang.

Alexis’s lack of experience as it pertained to the undercover operation is disturbing especially when everything begins to fall apart. The circumstances were dangerous and life threatening even though Blake and the others claimed to be a heartbeat away. I question the believability of such actions and placing a civilian in the direct line of fire but such is the world of fictional story lines and sometimes, in the end, believability is to be suspended.

CLAIMING ALEXIS is a spirited story line. The premise is energetic; the characters are enthusiastic; the romance is provocative and intense-Alexis’s lack of experience and inability to hold her booze leads to some rather unorthodox comments and actions. The reality of the undercover operation is questionable.

The second and final book in the sexy and tantalizing White Lies Duet from New York Times Bestselling Author Lisa Renee Jones.

Nick “Tiger” Rogers, sought out Faith Winter with revenge as his agenda. He made her his obsession. He seduced her. He made her want him. He made here trust him. And then he trusted her. He wanted her. He loved her.
But now, the lies will be exposed, the truth revealed.
Hearts will be broken. Lives shattered.
Nick. Faith.
The truth. The passion.
The SHAMELESS obsession.

••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: SHAMELESS is the second installment in Lisa Renee Jones’s contemporary, adult, erotic, romantic suspense WHITE LIES Duet focusing on billionaire attorney Nick Rogers, and winery owner/artist Faith Winter. SHAMELESS should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately upon the events of book one PROVOCATIVE.

NOTE: There is a slight cross-over between Lisa’s WHITE LIES series and her INSIDE OUT SERIES including several appearances by Sara and Chris Merit, Rebecca’s lost journals, and the connection to our story line hero.

SOME BACKGROUND: Nick Rogers’ search for the truth brings together both the past and the present. Nick and Faith were strangers, never having met one another before the Reid Winter Winery and Vineyard open house, but are connected to one another through secrets, lies and a past shrouded in betrayal, mystery, and possible scandal.

Told from dual first person points of view (Nick and Faith) SHAMELESS continues to follow the building relationship between billionaire attorney Nick ‘Tiger’ Rogers, and artist/winery owner Faith Winter. Nick Rogers had hoped to prove that Faith Winter was responsible for a series of tragic events that unfolded months before but meeting Faith and digging deeper into her life, and the lives of both of their parents found Nick falling in love with a woman whose heart he will break with his own secrets and lies. As Nick and Faith struggle to save her family owned Reid Winter Winery, Nick continues to search for the truth behind the corruption, debt and deaths connected to both of their families. What ensues is Faith’s journey to becoming a world-renowned artist. and the building romance between Faith and Nick that will stumble when the truth is revealed.

Nick Rogers is a man determined to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love from both of their pasts. Family secrets and lies, betrayal and the search for the truth are the catalysts that set into motion Nick and Faith’s future-a future that may not have a chance when the truth is revealed. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense without the use of sexually graphic, over the top language and text.

All of the previous story line characters plays secondary and supporting roles including several cameo appearances by Sara and Chris Merit, Faith’s ex-boyfriend Macom Maloy, her agent Josh, winery manager Kasey, Faith’s uncle Bill Winter and CEO of Pier 111, a social media platform; Nick’s PA Rita, and his best friend and fellow attorney Abel Baldwin.

SHAMELESS is a story of mystery and suspense; betrayal and heartbreak; power and greed; secrets, lies and exposing the truth but I did have an issue with the quick resolution of the story line conflict-the predictable revelation of the person/people responsible felt almost anti-climactic after the long awaited build up. The premise is engaging and intriguing; the characters are colorful, dynamic and complex-Nick’s secrets will destroy the building love between him and the woman he loves. The romance is edgy, provocative and passionate.

SHAMELESS and the White Lies Duet is a captivating tale of two people brought together by scandal, and the search for the truth. Lisa Renee Jones WHITE LIES DUET is a fascinating and moving series that will leave you wanting more because there is so much more to tell.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 11, 2017

Sawyer Bennett’s brand new series of standalone romances! LOVE HURTS!

Hollywood hath no fury like a woman scorned. In this fun, flirty second-chance romance from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, an aspiring starlet reconnects with her first love.

Eden Goodnight went to Los Angeles to make it big, not to be publicly humiliated by her cheating fiancé at a red-carpet premiere. But when Eden returns to her hometown to put the scandal behind her, she can barely find a sympathetic shoulder to cry on. Turns out the locals are worse than the paparazzi, and they all think she’s turned into a spoiled brat. But in a strange twist of fate, the one person who seems to understand what Eden’s going through is Cooper Mayfield . . . the boy she left behind.

Small-town charm is no match for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. At least that’s what Coop’s been telling himself all these years. As Eden’s old flame—and the landscaper for her family’s historic home—Coop feels some responsibility for getting her out of her funk. But as soon as he sees that million-dollar smile, he’s a goner. Soon they’re making out like teenagers again. But when a life-changing role falls into Eden’s lap, Coop just hopes she doesn’t give up on a love that’s meant to be.

•••••••••

REVIEW: JILTED is the second installment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult LOVE HURTS erotic, romance series. This is Academy Award winning actress Eden Goodnight, and landscaper/gardener Cooper Mayfield’s story line. JILTED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

Told from dual first person points of view (Eden and Cooper) JILTED focuses on the rekindling romance between former high school and college sweethearts Eden Goodnight, and Cooper Mayfield. Fourteen years earlier Eden Goodnight and Cooper Mayfield were in love: college sweethearts, making plans for the future when a talent scout from Hollywood changed Eden’s life forever. From the runway to the red carpet our heroine became the Hollywood ‘it’ girl. But a red-carpet humiliation by her fiancé and action star Brad Wright sent our heroine back home to small town Newberry, Georgia and into the arms of the man she has always loved. Enter Cooper Mayfield, the man Eden left behind for the bright lights and glamor of Hollywood and LA. What ensues is the rekindling romance between Eden and Cooper, Eden’s battle to be accepted by the people in her hometown of Newberry, Georgia, and Eden and Cooper’s struggle to remain a couple in the face of their diverging careers.

Eden Goodnight is a star whose reputation back home is something less than to be desired. Beautiful and talented, our heroine finds it difficult to assimilate back into Newberry Georgia-from the heartbreaking memories of her past and the town’s reluctance to welcome the actress with open arms Eden Goodnight struggles with her attraction to the man she could never forget. Cooper Mayfield has been angry for a very long time, betrayed by the only woman he would ever love, Cooper refuses to commit to one woman, let alone the woman who destroyed his heart.

The relationship between Cooper and Eden is one of second chances but their second chance at romance comes with too many ghosts of the past, and the belief that Eden has somehow disavowed the people back home. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense, erotic and seductive. There is plenty of back and forth in the early stages of their reintroduction not to mention the number of times their possessions end up in the hall, on the floor and out the bedroom window.

We are introduced to Eden’s former fiancé actor Brad Wright, and fellow actress Lilliana Prentice; Eden’s business manager Colleen O’Hearn; Cooper’s former fling Ashley Barton, bakery owner Missy Chambers, and several locals who try to make Eden’s life a living h*ll. The town of Newberry, Georgia feels betrayed by one of their own, and forgiveness comes when the truth is revealed.

JILTED is a story about one woman’s rise to fame, her fall from grace, and the man who would be there to pick up the pieces. There are moments heartbreak and humor, friendship and love, retribution and forgiveness. The premise is engaging, entertaining and energetic; the characters are dynamic and lively; the romance is passionate and inspiring. JILTED is a second chance romance with a spirited heroine and the man who is willing to sacrifice for the woman he loves.

The Duke Meets His Match by Tina Gabrielle – a Review

The Duke Meets His Match by Tina Gabrielle – a Review

The Duke Meets His MatchAmazon / B&N / Kobo / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
The daughter of an infamous art forger, Chloe Somerton grew up poor. Desperate to aid her sisters, she’d picked a pocket…or two. Now circumstances have changed, and Chloe has a chance to marry a young, wealthy lord. Only his mentor—a dark, dangerous duke—stands in her way. The duke knows about her past, and she’ll do anything to keep him from telling.

The moment Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron, sees Chloe Somerton, he recognizes her as a fraud. The stunning beauty with sapphire eyes and golden hair now appears to be a proper lady, but he knows better. What begins as a battle of wills soon escalates into a fierce attraction. In Chloe, Michael finds peace from the memories of war, but he refuses to marry…and she won’t settle for anything less.

Review:

The Duke Meets His Match begins with Chloe attending a party with her sister, who is bound and determined to play matchmaker for Chloe.  Of course, Chloe had rather make her own match, but appreciates her sister’s interest….most of the time.  As Chloe sets her eyes on a handsome young Earl named Henry, she can’t help but notice Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron, who just happens to be Henry’s guardian.  Michael and Henry’s father were in the war together, and only Michael made it home.  Henry’s father took a bullet meant for Michael, which has caused Michael a great deal of guilt.  Once home, he has made it his mission to teach the young Henry about managing his estate and his affairs.

Once Michael sees Chloe, he immediately recognizes her and knows that there is a shady past that Henry knows nothing about.  He attempts to warn Chloe away from Henry, and call her bluff (if you will).  What he does not expect is Chloe’s reaction.  As their mutual attraction grows, the Duke knows that he has indeed, met his match….

The Duke Meets His Match is a wonderfully written story that has relatable characters.  I love the Somertons, and Chloe is by far my favorite.  Don’t get me wrong, I like the other two books and their heroines, but I LOVED Chloe.  Determined to distance herself from her torturous past, she stands up for herself in a way that will endear herself to everyone who reads her story.  Michael was a bit of a surprise for me.  Yes, he started out as an antagonist whom I couldn’t see myself liking (at all!), only to turn out to be a multi-layered character that I fell in love with.  His reasons for saying he would never marry are actually valid ones, but Chloe being Chloe, makes him see reason.  She also makes him see that asking for help does not make you weak.  The Duke Meets His Match is ultimately a story about pushing past preconceived notions to truly see a person for whom they really are.  If you’re a fan of this genre, you will never go wrong with any of the Somertons’ stories, but this one will make you a true fan of the author.  Well done, Tina Gabrielle!  Very, very well done!

About the book: Release Date July 11, 2017

Sometimes, it feels so damn good to be bad …

From New York Times and #1 International bestselling author J. Kenner, the first in an all new series of fast-paced, provocative novels centering around the ambitious, wealthy, and powerful men who work in the glamorous and exciting world of the Stark International conglomerate … and the sexy and passionate women who bring them to their knees.

Photographer Wyatt Royce’s career is on the verge of exploding. All he needs is one perfect model to be the centerpiece of his sexy, controversial show. Find her, and Wyatt is sure to have a winner.

Then Kelsey Draper walks in. Stunning. Vibrant. And far too fragile for a project like this. Wyatt should know—after all, he remembers only too well why their relationship ended all those years ago.

Determined to break free from her good girl persona, Kelsey wants spice. Adventure. And she’s certain that Wyatt is just the man to help.

But when Wyatt agrees to give her the job only if he has complete control—on camera and in his bed—Kelsey can’t help but wonder if she’s in too deep. Because how can a good girl like her ever be enough for a man like Wyatt?

••••••••••

REVIEW: WICKED GRIND is the first installment in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult STARK WORLD erotic, romance series-a spin off set in the world of the author’s Stark Trilogy. This is photographer Wyatt Royce Segal, and dancer/kindergarten teacher Kelsey Draper’s story line. You do not have to have read the previous series to follow Wicked Grind. Some of the characters cross-over or are mentioned for cohesion and familiarity.

Told from dual first person points of view (Wyatt and Kelsey) WICKED GRIND follows the rekindling romance between famed photographer Wyatt Royce, and dancer/teacher Kelsey Draper. Twelve years earlier a then sixteen year old Kelsey Draper fell in love with rich and seductive school boyWyatt Royce-a summer fling that ended when Kelsey disappeared from Wyatt’s life never to be heard from again. Fast forward to present day and our heroine is desperate to help someone she loves. Enter Wyatt Royce Segal who is looking for the perfect model for his presentation and feature for an erotic art showing. Kelsey needs the money, and Wyatt struggles with memories of the past-a past shrouded in betrayal and lies.

Wyatt battles his need for the woman who destroyed his heart twelve years earlier. Believing our heroine betrayed his feelings, Wyatt has never moved forward in his relationships, always keeping his emotions locked down and guarded. Kelsey Draper struggles with her attraction to a man she knows despises the ground upon which she walks but there is a reason to Kelsey’s abrupt departure and her return comes at a personal price. Kelsey is desperate for money and posing for the man whose heart she broke is both a struggle and a desperate attempt to save someone she loves.

The relationship between Kelsey and Wyatt is one of second chances; a rekindling romance that follows Wyatt Royce as his treatment of Kelsey Draper is less than magnanimous bordering on emotionally abusive and sexually aroused. Kelsey has never stopped loving Wyatt Segal (Royce) but twelve years of heartbreak and guilt has kept our heroine too close to home. The $ex scenes are limited but seductive and intense.

We are introduced to Kelsey’s younger brother Griffin; her best friend and model Nia; Wyatt’s assistant JP, former fling Leah, Siobhan who works for Stark Entrprises, as well as Wyatt’s grandmother Anika Segel, and mother Lorelei Segal-both Hollywood royalty.

The world building focuses on the rekindling romance between Kelsey and Wyatt, and Wyatt’s coldhearted treatment of the woman that broke his heart. At times, Wyatt’s attitude was abusive and mean. Both Kelsey and Wyatt’s backstories are heartbreaking-terrible losses that shaped the man and woman they would become.

I did have a couple of issues with the story line: the quick resolution to a threat against Kelsey’s future, as well as the author’s use of a certain four letter word-although only used once-I felt it was unnecessary and possibly used for shock value or to place the story line into the erotic category.

WICKED GRIND is a story of second chances; of betrayal and misunderstanding; of family, relationships and love. The premise is energetic; the characters are colorful and dynamic; the romance is sensual and passionate. WICKED GRIND is a seductive story line of one woman’s struggle with guilt that finds our heroine stepping out of her comfort zone to save someone she loves.

Wicked Grind Teaser

excerpt

She was driving him crazy.

The way she held his eyes while she moved, so bold and flirtatious, as if she was just daring him to pull her into his arms and kiss her senseless.

Daring him? No, strike that. She wasn’t just daring him, she was throwing down a goddamned gauntlet. But was she challenging him to claim her? Or was she goading him that he couldn’t have her?

Damned if he knew. Right then, Wyatt was certain of only one thing—his body was tight, his cock was hard, and he wanted to be somewhere other than here. Someplace without other people.

Someplace with a bed.

It was the dancing that did it. Because Kelsey Draper and her dancing had always been his downfall. After all, that was what had started everything all those years ago. He’d seen her dancing to a bouncy pop song, her interpretation elevating the music and lyrics. He’d seen passion and precision, sensuality and seduction. She’d enchanted him. Cast a spell over him.

He’d seen the magic in her, so much larger than the quiet, subdued girl he’d met before. The Kelsey he’d watched dancing had surprised him. She was vibrant. Alive. Unexpected.

He’d fallen hard, and then she’d broken his heart.

He wouldn’t make the same mistake again.

He might want her—hell, he did want her. For his bed. For his show.

But he damn sure wasn’t going to trust her. He’d already learned that lesson, and he really didn’t need a refresher course.

As he watched, she dropped to the floor, then used one hand to rip open her shirt before letting it fall down her arms. She writhed on stage, her seductive movements making him ache inside, all the more when he imagined taking it further. Her wrists bound not with a tattered blouse, but with silk ropes. And not just her wrists, but her legs as well. Red ropes, the only color in an otherwise black and white image. Her body twisting, and the audience unsure if she was fighting the bonds or reveling in her own rising passion.

She was exactly what he needed for the show. The complete package. Hell, he’d known that from the moment she’d walked into his studio.

So why was he hesitating?

Because he wanted her?

Or was it because he wanted to punish her?

Or maybe it was even more insidious than that. Maybe it came down to how much was riding on this show. It was his shot, after all. The apex of all his work and sacrifice. The chance to escape from under the black cloud his father had left hanging over him.

The chance to prove himself to his family.

To live up to the goddamn Segel name.

But that would only happen if the show was a success.

So maybe that was why he was hesitating. Because the moment he committed was the moment the truth crept toward him on little cat paws, and it would either curl up and purr, or rip his heart out.

On stage, Kelsey rose, then did some sort of pirouette, twirling as she pulled off one of those transparent, colored scarves that served as a barely-there skirt. Wyatt imagined his hands on her waist, the brush of her skin against his palms as she spun. He could imagine her heat. The way she shivered under his touch.

So help him, he wanted that. Wanted to hear her sighs. Those little moans he remembered.

Another scarf went flying, and he straightened so that he was no longer leaning against the pillar. Instead, he shifted his weight from foot to foot as he tried to tamp down the rising lust. The violent need. To not only have her, but to have her in his show.

He wanted her, yes. But she was an indulgence he couldn’t justify. An indulgence and a risk, because he knew damn well that she’d run if things got too intense.

And damn but his show was intense. That was the point, after all.

He couldn’t take a chance on her, no matter how much he might want to. Couldn’t even bring her in only long enough to test her out. Not on such a tight schedule. Not when there was no way to ensure that she wouldn’t bolt.

Kelsey was a risk he simply couldn’t take. He had to get it right. There was too much at stake for him to be wrong about her.

The final scarf fluttered to the ground, and Wyatt’s pulse pounded in his throat as he moved closer, his mouth going dry as she reached for her bra, pulled it over her head, then tossed it aside.

The music faded out, and the dim, colored stage lights made the flesh-colored G-string blend into her pale skin, enhancing the illusion that she now stood before the entire room not just topless, but one hundred percent, birthday-suit naked.

She took a bow as the lights came up, and the men in the audience actually stood to applaud her. She’d blown away the competition, and even though Wyatt wanted to rush the stage and wrap his jacket around her, he couldn’t deny the swell of pride he felt for her victory.

•••••••••••••••

REVIEW: Told from three first person points of view (Blake, Liane, Ronan) TWISTED DUET is the re-release of L.L. Collins contemporary, YA to New Adult to Adult romance duet- Twisted Souls and Twisted Paths (originally released in 2015). TWISTED DUET is a story line that spans close to forty years in the life of soul mates Blake McIntyre and Liane Kelly but a case of mistaken belief, a lack of communication, and the interference of Liane’s former flame Ronan Collier push our story line couple in opposite directions until years later a chance meeting at the very place they first met washes away years of heartbreak and pain only to face deception-once again. Lives were destroyed but their love never died in the face of perceived betrayal, and a separation of miles and years. Scars that have barely healed will be ripped open when the truth is finally exposed. The $ex scenes are mostly implied or fade to black.

The TWISTED DUET is a love-triangle romance that follows Blake McIntyre and Liane Kelly from childhood friends to lovers to the day everything fell apart as the two, then eighteen year olds, prepared for their future-together. Twisted Paths advances the duet approximately eighteen years wherein life for Liane and Blake could not have been more different. Returning to Sanibel Island, Florida where it all began Liane and Blake will reconnect, and the truth about the past will slowly be revealed until the explosive announcement that will change everyone’s lives-once again. The love-triangle aspect focuses on jealousy, lies, secrets and betrayal as Ronan Collier sets into motion a series of events that will destroy and change Liane and Blake-forever.

THE TWISTED DUET is an emotional but predictable story line. Liane and Blake’s fairytale romance will be destroyed by jealousy and deceit, outside factors and a distinct lack of communication. Two families, once closer than blood, will watch from the sidelines as their children grow up without the person they love. The premise is tragic but encouraging; the characters are passionate and impulsive but broken; the romance is heartbreaking and fated. L.L. Collins’ THE TWISTED DUET is an engaging and poignant look at two lost souls who finally found their happily ever after.

Excerpt beige

Twisted Souls

“Liane?” I open my eyes, wondering where I had heard my name. Geez, I had fallen asleep again, this time in the chair with my feet in the Gulf of Mexico. I need to get a grip. The warm sun must’ve lulled me into a stupor again.
“Li?” When that one syllable reaches my ears, I stand up so suddenly that I fling the magazine I had been holding into the water. I watch it for a moment, floating then sinking into the water before a hand reaches past me and picks it up, throwing it behind me into the sand. Turning around slowly, I have no idea if I make any sound outwardly, but I sure as heck inwardly gasp. I’ve seen pictures of him over the last four years. We’d sent each other our senior pictures. But never did I expect that the man standing in front of me was Blake McIntyre. The young teenage boy I had left standing on this beach four years ago was gone, and in his place was the hottest man I’d ever seen. His blonde hair is still unruly, and his chocolate brown eyes still exude kindness. But while before he had been very thin, now he is all filled out. Cuts of muscle define his arms, chest, and stomach, and he looks like he has already gotten tan.
I’m staring; I know it. But I can’t make myself stop. This is my best friend. My lifelong friend; my everything. Standing in front of me looking like he just posed for GQ. “Blake,” my mouth finally works, a grin that would rival a Cheshire cat’s spreading over my face. His eyes drink me in, trying to read my reaction and my thoughts. At this moment, nothing in the world matters but him. I fling myself into his arms and he catches me with a laugh, his large hands splaying on my bare back as I wrap myself up in him. He’s so much bigger than I remember. I’ve grown a few inches, sure, and am heavier and more womanly than I was when I was fourteen, but am still mostly the same. Blake, however, has grown a good six inches and gained at least 40 or 50 pounds since I have seen him last, and not an ounce of it is fat. He’s Adonis-like. And just my friend, I chant inside my head.

Twisted Paths

The first thing I notice is that the man is seriously beautiful. His body is cut and sculpted like he spends hours a day in the gym, and even in the dim light from the pool deck, I can tell he’s tan. His board shorts hang low on his hips, and the defined cuts of muscle on his chest and abs is enough to send women running to him and dropping at his feet. Had I been a single woman, he would definitely be my type. My eyes lift past his impeccable body to the face and head that’s attached, and that’s when my heart completely stops. I must’ve gasped out loud, because I feel Mia turn and look at me as he gets closer.

I feel my mouth drop open as his eyes meet mine for the first time in years. “Blake.” He stops in his tracks, both of us staring at each other for what seems like every moment of the time we have been apart. I can’t believe he’s standing here, and had it not been for Mia standing next to me, I might’ve thought I was dreaming.

He lifts his eyes back to my face, a small smile playing on his lips. “Well, well, well,” he drawls, his South Carolina accent more pronounced than I remember. “Look what the cat dragged in.” He smirks at me before hauling my dripping wet body to his. The second our skin touches, I inhale sharply. It isn’t lost on me that we’re wearing the equivalent of underwear and our bodies are pressed together like they belong there. His hard muscles press into my softness as his hands caress my back, and my mind goes back to that alcove all those years ago where we had first touched. I’ve purposely stayed away from that area of the beach since I arrived; there are some things better left alone.

Everything’s naughtier after dark…
As the founder of a multimillion-dollar international security business, Carson Bad exposes secrets for a living. He knows better than to forge relationships built on them. But for years he did just that with his best friend, and secret lover, Tawny Bishop. She brought a sense of calm and understanding to his life—in and out of the bedroom. Until one fateful night when a knock at the door changed everything.

Tawny is no longer a naive college student. She’s a sought-after perfumer living in Paris. She has plenty of resources at her fingertips, and lots of lonely nights to think about the only man she’s ever loved—the one she ran away from all those years ago. She needs to move forward with her life, but how can she when Carson still owns her heart?

Maybe showing up in the middle of the night unannounced isn’t the best route to unraveling the past and figuring out her future, but Tawny has played it safe for ten long years, and it’s only made her long for the man she never should have walked away from. Now she’s back in Carson’s life, and he’s determined not to make the same mistake twice. If only he knew what that mistake was…

REVIEW: CARSON is the third installment in Melissa Foster’s contemporary, adult BAD BOYS AFTER DARK erotic, romance series focusing on the Bad brothers-Mick, Dylan, Carson and Brett Bad. This is security expert Carson Bad, and perfumer Tawny Bishop’s story line. CARSON can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Tawny and Carson) CARSON: BAD BOYS AFTER DARK follows the rekindling romance between millionaire security expert Carson Bad, and perfumer Tawny ‘Tabs’ Bishop. As friends and lovers Tawny and Carson kept secret their college affair until the fateful night Tawny walked away without looking back. Fast forward ten years and Tawny is hoping to rekindle her relationship with the man she has never stopped loving. Enter Carson Bad, security specialist, and the man who stole our heroine’s heart years before. What ensues is the second chance romance between Carson and Tawny as Tawny struggles with what the future may hold.

CARSON is a story of friendship, romance, family and love. While Tawny places an end date on their rekindling romance as she must return to Paris, her job and someone she doesn’t want to leave behind, Carson is determined to make Tawny a permanent part of his family and future. Carson slowly seduces the woman he has always loved, as his family befriends Tawny behind the scenes ensuring our heroine is loved and protected. The $ex scenes are intimate, intense and seductive. Carson is quick to rekindle his love for the woman who walked away, years before.

All of the previous story line couples play secondary and supporting characters: Mick and Amanda MICK #1, Dylan and Tiffany DYLAN #2, as well as Brett Bad whose story line is next in …BRETT.

The world building continues to focus on the Bad brothers tight knit relationship, their loves and their happily ever afters. There is very little outside conflict except that which our heroine brings into the relationship with her need to return home.

CARSON is an engaging, entertaining and heartwarming story line. The premise is energetic; the characters are spirited and dynamic; the romance is sensual and passionate. CARSON is a wonderful addition to Melissa Foster’s playful BAD BOYS AFTER DARK series.

Famous by Jenny Holiday – a Review

Famous by Jenny Holiday – a Review

Description:
Everyone knows her face. He knows her heart.

Emerson Quinn is famous. Girls want to be her. Boys want to date her. Each record outsells the last. All that remains is to continue transitioning her brand from its teenage fan base to a more mature, diverse audience. So she’s under strict orders to play nice with her army of assigned co-songwriters and to knock off the serial dating that keeps landing her in the tabloids. If she follows instructions, she can look forward to an indefinite run at the top of the celebrity ecosystem. There’s only one problem with this plan: Emerson is miserable.

So she runs away, impulsively fleeing her L.A. life and heading for a small Iowa college town where a guy she once knew lives. He’s the only person in the world she can think of who might be enough of a nerd to not know about Emerson Quinn the brand. Who might be willing to provide a haven where she can lay low and write her new album by herself, on her own terms.

Art history professor Evan Winslow knows a thing or two about leaving your past behind. He’s worked hard to establish himself far from the spotlight of his infamous father. He’s up for tenure soon, which will mean job security for life. All he has to do to lock down his hard-won, blessedly quiet existence is keep his head down.

Too bad the most famous pop star in the world—who also happens to be his long-lost muse—has just shown up on his doorstep.

Review:

When Evan and Emmy first meet, he’s running away from attention and she’s running toward it. Seven years later, their paths reconvene in the “straight lines and right angles” of Iowa, “No twists and turns. Nothing and no one lurking unexpectedly behind a bend in the road. No blind spots.” Will such luxury of independence serve Emmy’s song-producing needs? And what of Evan’s newly-invaded heart, because Emmy whirls in and intensifies all his repressed emotions. Jenny Holiday is “Famous“, *wink, wink* for introducing wonderful characters whose lives she upends only to make them more life-affirming. Gotta love an author like this!

Emmy made her dreams come true, she’s a massive star, but when the music industry begins churning her into a machine, she tries to escape the “Famous” lifestyle she ambitiously created. Evan wishes he could resume his creativity that was deprived him by the sins of his father. Although struggling within an artistic spectrum, Evan and Emmy are more in tune than not. Surprisingly, and selflessly, Evan and Emmy don’t despair over their plights; seeking only to support each other’s goals. Their talents are reenergized in each other’s stasis.

When things turn romantic, as they’re clearly headed (I know I wanted it!), uncertainty overrides emotion. In an effort to achieve her most sought after independence, Emmy’s decreed a moratorium on dating. Evan, honorable dude that he is, abides by her wishes…and battles his burgeoning desires. This may, or may not, make them irritable. But it only enhances their communication. Jenny Holiday moonlights as a part-time therapist, I’m sure. 😉

“But, amazingly, the odd stiffness between them wasn’t enough to extinguish the attraction between them.”

Internal chaos turns innocuous Iowa into a catalyst for two uneasy souls. “The sense that even though everything was orderly and tidy, this was also, paradoxically, a place where anything could happen.” Famous is a beautiful love story that launches a watershed moment to epic proportions. Emmy and Evan weren’t unhappy, but complacent and ultimately compromising their potential. Shared sensibility and compassion inspired them to ask for more. Emmy and Evan surmounted a mountain of more.

On a fun note, I had likened Emmy and Evan to Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel from Safe Haven. But when Emmy was going on about how college girls must be dying to get into Evan’s class, I immediately thought of Indiana Jones and the student with her eyelids declaring devotion. Picture whomever you’d like, maybe even Taylor Swift? ;D. Just know that you’re in for some steamy scenes. Yeah, so not complaining.
