ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 8,2018

It should have been a simple play…

She needed a football player to step up and be the star for a charity calendar. I needed a sharp and savvy publicist to manage a brand-new sponsorship deal. I scratched her back. She scratched mine. And oh hell, did Jillian ever drag her nails down my back on one hell of a hot night. Okay fine, it was several hot nights on the road.

Now we’re back in town and it’s time to set the play clock back to when we were simply player and publicist. Given the way the last few years have gone, I can’t risk this deal, so it’s hands off for us once again. Trouble is, I want more than than just another night with her.

What’s a guy to do when he’s always been most likely to score, but the woman he’s falling for is just out of bounds?

I don’t date players.
And I definitely don’t sleep with players.
And I absolutely don’t fall for a certain player when I get to know him and learn he’s more than just sexy — he’s clever, funny and has a heart as big as his . .. well, you get my drift.

But my job is at stake, and I can’t afford to lose that as well as my heart. The problem is, I think I’ve already lost that game.

What’s a girl to do when the clock is running out, but the man she’s falling for is off limits?

REVIEW:MOST LIKELY TO SCORE by Lauren Blakely is a contemporary, adult, stand alone, erotic, romance sports story line focusing NFL wide receiver Jones Beckett, and San Francisco Renegade PR director Jillian Moore.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jillian and Jones) MOST LIKELY TO SCORE follows the forbidden relationship between San Francisco Renegade’s wide receiver, and manwh*re Jones Beckett, and the team’s PR director Jillian Moore. For months Jillian and Jones have been dancing around one another, the sexual attraction palpable and edgy but with Jones’ reputation drowning in off-field one-night stands Jillian Moore is called in to clean up his notoriety and fame in the public eye. What ensues is the building love and romance between Jillian and Jones, and the potential fall-out when their relationship is revealed to the people in charge.

Jillian Moore has had a crush on Jones Beckett for as long as she could remember but his reputation with the ladies precedes his introduction to the woman with whom he is falling in love. Believing Jones is out of her league, Jillian struggles with her attraction to the man with whom she begins a close, personal relationship.

The relationship between Jillian and Jones is one of immediate attraction; a forbidden love between two San Francisco Renegade employees but a love that grows stronger as their relationship climbs. The $ex scenes are intimate, seductive and passionate with the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Jones’ Renegade teammates, front office personnel, media reporters, sponsors, agents and numerous fans. We are introduced to Jillian’s best friend Kate, as well as her father Aaron Moore; and Jones’ brothers Trevor.

The world building follows the relationship between our leading couple, as well as the public relations nightmare of a PR director as it pertains to a star athlete. The story line conflict is minimal as most of the issues are part of a preconceived notion about other people’s reaction to co-workers dating on the job.

MOST LIKELY TO SCORE is a sweet, sexy and entertaining story line. The premise is
Inviting and engaging; the characters are charismatic and energetic; the romance is enthusiastic and captivating.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 2, 2018

Rachel Hart and Bodie Wright are nothing more than teammates. As mercenaries for hire with the elite Jameson Group, they have each other’s backs in the most dangerous of circumstances. But after a mission gone deadly wrong, Rachel does something she’s never done before. She crosses the professional line and takes comfort in Bodie’s arms.

One night of passion turns their lives upside down with a pregnancy neither of them expected, and one that Rachel was too terrified to ever want. Bodie, however, is a family man through and through, and he’s determined to raise their child alone if necessary.

The only common thread Rachel and Bodie have is their membership at The Wicked Horse, a sex club that lets them both fulfill their dirtiest fantasies with each other. As they become more intimately entwined, the strong, steady man with a heart of gold makes Rachel question everything she ever thought she knew about herself. Their wicked nights together make them so much more than teammates and Rachel is about to discover the choices she thought were the most difficult are actually the easiest ones to make.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: WICKED CHOICE is the fourth instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult WICKED HORSE VEGAS erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women of the exclusive sex club The Wicked Horse and The Silo-a spin off from the author’s original Wicked Horse series. This is mercenaries for hire Rachel Hart and Bodie Wright’s story line. WICKED CHOICE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

NOTE: WICKED CHOICE is a bit of a departure from Sawyer Bennett’s Wicked Horse series. As a ‘bridge’ between two series Wicked Choice sets the stage for the author’s new romantic, suspense spin-off series focusing on the men and women who work for The Jameson Group-mercenaries for hire.

Told from dual first person points of view (Rachel and Bodie) WICKED CHOICE follows the building relationship between teammates and mercenaries for hire Rachel Hart and Bodie Wright. Following a mission that went horribly wrong Rachel buried her emotions in alcohol and sex-a one night stand with Bodie Wright-that resulted in an unplanned pregnancy for our story line heroine. Believing motherhood will interfere in her long range plans, our tough as nails, fiercely independent heroine makes Bodie an offer he cannot refuse. What ensues is the building romance and love between Rachel and Bodie-a highly sexual relationship neither one expected to go beyond the needs of their physical desires.

Bodie Wright is a family man who isn’t afraid to step up and step in when Rachel announces their untimely pregnancy. Hoping to raise the child on his own, Bodie becomes support network and loving partner for a woman who battles between head and her heart. Believing she would be a bad mother Rachel offers up a promise to hand over the child she will never love.

The relationship between Bodie and Rachel begins as teammates and partners that grows into something more. A one-night stand will push Bodie and Rachel together, for better or for worse, when an unplanned pregnancy forces our couple to make plans for the future, one way or another. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense but as usual, I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word that doesn’t belong in a romance story line.

We are introduced to Bodie and Rachel’s teammates and fellow mercenaries at The Jameson Group: Cage Murdock, Locke Meyers, August Greenfield, Tank Richardson,, Sal Mezzina, and Benji Darden; the current owner of The Jameson Group Kynan McGrath; Jerico Jameson, founder and former owner of The Jameson Group, as well as the current owner and proprietor of the Wicked Horse, Vegas; Bodie’s parents George and Estelle Wright; and Ob-Gyn Dr. Anchors.

The world building focuses on the dangerous assignment and potential threats to the men and women who work for The Jameson Group. The Wicked Horse and The Silo are no longer the main focus in this particular story line as the author sets the stage for her upcoming series. There is a sight cross-over with the author’s Cold Fury Hockey series as well.

WICKED CHOICE is a sexy, spirited and spicy story line; the characters re energetic and passionate; the romance is provocative and intoxicating.

Raised in the servant’s quarters on a palatial estate in Massachusetts and educated among the elite of New England, Joseph harbors a deep insecurity, which fuels his desire to continually succeed.

As Lia and Joseph’s stories merge the injustices of their pasts will test their ability to move forward together. And as Joseph plots to expose an illegal high-stakes game at the highest levels of corporate America, he will have to decide whether reaching his lifetime goal is worth compromising his principles and betraying the woman he loves.

Laura Branchflower is a compelling new voice in contemporary women’s fiction with believable characters dealing with real life struggles.

•••••••••••••••

REVIEW: WHEN I SAW YOU by Laura Branchflower is the first instalment in the debut author’s erotic, romance series. This is thirty-four year old billionaire attorney Joseph Craig, and divorced, single mother Lia Merrick’s story line.

Told from several third person perspectives including Lia and Joseph WHEN I SAW YOU follows the building relationship between attorney Joseph Craig, and Lia Merrick. Desperate for a job our heroine find’s herself embroiled in a potential lawsuit when the company she worked for misrepresented the position she was hired to perform. Enter Joseph Craig, powerful attorney and the man with whom Lia would fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and love between Lia and Joseph, and the potential fall out when Joseph’s true motives are revealed.

WHEN I SAW YOU is an infinitely detailed and cleverly written story line that follows several paths including the legal battle between our heroine and her ex-husband, and Joseph’s questionable rise to financial success. Our hero battles a lifetime of demons in his pursuit of the almighty dollar but his biggest loss may come at the hands of the woman he loves.

We are introduced to Joseph’s law firm partners: Tony Prossi and Kevin Stuart, as well as Joseph’s ex-girlfriend / model Kathy Paige, and Joseph’s secretary Martha Godfrey; Lia’s five year old daughter Taylor; Lia’s ex-husband Ned Merrick, and his wife Candice; as well as a number of businessmen and clients of Zurtech Enterprises. Tony Prossi’s story line is next in A Sense of Belonging (August 2017)

Laura Branchflower’s debut release is a striking, seductive and intriguing story line that straddles the line between romance and suspense. The premise is flawless in its presentation; the characters are colorful, charismatic and damaged; the romance is passionate, intense and dramatic. WHEN I SAW YOU is a fantastic read with exceptional characters, and a truly original premise but I can’t help but make similar comparisons to a real-life Joseph, and his mother’s secret affair with a well-known politician.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 2, 2017

t takes true grit to build a billion-dollar dynasty like the Ford family ranch. But when it comes to finding love, all it takes is one handsome cowboy to steal a woman’s heart…

SHE’S RIDING SOLO

As one of the heirs to the River Ranch fortune, Mia Ford is practically Texas royalty. But that doesn’t mean she’s some pampered princess. She can saddle up and ride a horse as well as any man, even a hard-working cowboy like Sam Mendes. For years, she’s harbored a crush on the strong, silent horseman. But how can she make a move when she’s his boss?

HE’S TAKING THE REINS

Sam Mendes is through with love—or so he thought. Still recovering from a breakup, he’s doing everything in his power to resist Mia Ford. It’s bad enough she’s the kind of beauty who drives men wild with desire. It’s even worse she’s got him so worked up, aching to kiss her lips, when he’s supposed to be working her ranch. Is this lovestruck cowboy willing to risk losing his job—and breaking his heart—to win the girl of his dreams?

•••••••••

REVIEW: COWBOY STOLE MY HEART is the first instalment in Soraya Lane’s contemporary, adult RIVER RANCH cowboy, romance series. This is heiress and horse jumper Mia Ford, and horse whisperer/trainer Sam Mendes’ story line. The RIVER RANCH series is a spin off from the author’s TEXAS KINGS series. You do not have to have read the original series to understand or follow the current time line. Some of the characters cross over for cohesion and backstory.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Mia and Sam) COWBOY STOLE MY HEART follows the building relationship between horse trainer Sam Mendes, and show jumper Mia Ford. Mia Ford is an independent young woman whose recent acquisition of a troubled stallion finds our heroine in desperate need of a horse whisperer, when her father calls in a favor from one of the most talented trainers on the horse riding circuit. Enter Sam Mendes, rancher and horse trainer, and the man with whom Mia will fall in love. What ensues is the building ‘friends with benefits’ relationship between Sam and Mia, and the fall out when Mia is hoping for something more.

Mia Ford knows loss including the death of her mother, and that of a friend on the horse jumping circuit. With the arrival of Tex, a beautiful but mean-spirited stallion, Mia struggles between her head and her heart knowing the horse may be too far gone for the likes of Sam Mendes. Sam, on the other hand, has never met a horse he couldn’t tame but there is something else about Tex that gives our hero pause. Four weeks to turn Tex’s life around is all that is takes but four weeks may be too long when the heart wants something it cannot allow. Sam doesn’t do relationships; there are personal demons in his past-demons he is unable to let go including a trouble childhood and a relationship that destroyed what was left of his heart.

The relationship between Sam and Mia is one of immediate attraction but Mia is technically Sam’s boss. The sexual energy is palpable between our leading couple but Sam has made it known that their relationship is only physical, with a four week expiry date.Their initial meeting is met with preconceived notions that do not bode well for their working relationship. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense with the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Sam’s best friend Nate and his wife Faith, Sam’s sister (Texas Kings #3); Mia’s brother Tanner, and their father Walter Ford, as well as Mia’s best friend and local veterinarian Kat.

COWBOY STOLE MY HEART is a sexy and passionate romantic story line. The premise is inspiring and emotional; the characters are determined, spirited and energetic; the romance is sensual and captivating. COWBOY STOLE MY HEART has a little bit of sexy fun and romance; conflict and angst; family and friendship, and just enough sassy cowboy to get the heart pumping and the blood heating.

excerpt

Mia disappeared and he talked to the horses, wandering down the line to look at all of them. He’d only seen her ride the one, her favorite mare, but he had a feeling she was full of surprises, and her horses all looked impressive. When she didn’t reappear, Sam went looking for her, wondering what the hell was taking so long.
“Hey, do you need a hand back there?” he called out. He squinted in the half-light, dark compared to the full sun glare outside when he ducked through the doorway and into the tack room.
“Oh, shit, sorry, just give me a sec.”
He stopped. Sam stood in the middle of the small room, saddles and bridles covering every inch of wall space, and Mia pressed into one corner, her tears impossible to hide. “Hey,” Sam murmured, striding over to her. Hell, he hadn’t expected her to be crying. He’d thought she might need a hand carrying some gear out, but . . . he didn’t know what to do.
“I’m fine, please,” she said, holding one hand up to her face, the other stretched out in front of her as if trying to push him away before he was even close.
“You’re not okay,” he said, knowing how gruff he sounded but unable to help it. “Come here.”
She shook her head. “Please, I’m fine,” she managed, voice cracking.
“Your mom, huh?” he asked, knowing that there was no way in hell he’d managed to say anything to upset her this much. She was still grieving, he could see that from a mile off.
She nodded, dropping one hand, the other still covering her face. “Yeah,” she whispered. “It’s just I haven’t talked about her for a long time. She’s been gone twelve years so I shouldn’t be reacting like this.”
“Come here,” Sam said, not taking no for an answer this time as he opened his arms and pulled her in.
He held her, tight, letting her cry. She sobbed once, loudly, a noise that made his heart lurch for her, feeling her pain, before she went silent and relaxed in his arms. It had been almost a year since he’d held a woman like this; comforted a woman and held her and felt something for her. He stiffened. Only that woman had played him, ripped his heart out when he’d have done anything for her. Anything.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “I’d tell you it’ll get easier, but I doubt it will.”
He didn’t sugarcoat things, even this type of thing, but he did feel for her. She’d tried to talk about her mom all nonchalant to him, laughing about her beautiful stables, when in reality it had torn her in half and left her crying all on her own. She’d lost her mom and her best friend as well; no wonder she’d been prickly when he’d tried to muscle in and take over with the one thing she did have— her horses.
Mia pushed back and he wished she hadn’t. He’d liked the warmth of her against him, the tickle of her long hair catching in his stubble as he’d inhaled her shampoo or whatever it was on her that smelled so damn delicious.
“Sorry,” she murmured, her hands to his chest as she stepped back. “I don’t ever let anyone see me cry.”
He believed it. She didn’t strike him as the type to let anyone see her vulnerabilities.
Sam glanced down at her, at her hands against his chest, at the way she was looking up at him, her eyes wide. Her mouth parted, tear-stained cheeks making her look so vulnerable that it tugged at something inside of him he’d thought was long buried.
“You’ve got nothing to apologize for,” he muttered, slowly raising a hand and brushing his thumb gently across her cheeks to blur the tears away.
Mia stayed still, her palms still planted against him, head tilted. He looked at her mouth, fought the urge to rub his thumb across her soft pink lips. Instead he dropped his hand, skimming past her long blonde hair on the way past. Sam bent a little, eyes on her mouth, imagining what her lips would taste like. He wanted to kiss her so damn bad, wanted to push her up against the wall behind her and kiss the hell out of her. But he didn’t.
He’d sworn off women for a reason, and sexy or not, he wasn’t about to take advantage of his boss up against a wall. Even crying she was beautiful, but he wasn’t going there. He couldn’t go there.
Dammit!
Her eyes were dancing, her lips were parted, her hands were slowly dropping away from his chest. But instead of closing the distance between them, instead of hungrily tasting her lips against his, he took her hands, stepping back and squeezing them.
“You take all the time you need,” he said instead, hearing the husky note of his own voice. “I’ll be out here.”
He walked out, ducking back through the door and out into the bright sunlight again. Goddamn it! What the hell had he just done? He’d always prided himself on being able to keep his shit together, and he’d let himself get way too close to Mia.

In this short story, Celo, the hidden prince who understands the language of wild creatures, unearths a forgotten secret. He accepts a challenge and embarks on a quest, seeking the solution to the riddle beyond the forests of Regalia.

Celo’s Quest is included in the print edition of Wyvern’s Outlaw.

•••••

REVIEW: CELO’S QUEST by Deborah Cooke is a short story that falls between Wyvern’s Outlaw and Wyvern’s Angel in the author’s paranormal/ fantasy Dragons of Incendium romance series. Celo (first introduced in Wyvern’s Outlaw) is the hidden prince of Regalia and newly crowned King Venero’s brother.

SOME BACKGROUND: For fans of Cooke’s previous series about dragons, THE DRAGONS OF INCENDIUM is NOT connected to, or a spinoff from, her best selling Dragonfire series. The current series focuses on female dragon shifters of Incendium searching for their ‘HeartKeeper’-their mate- and the ‘Carrier of the Seed’.

Told from third person perspective (Celo) CELO’S QUEST is a short story that reveals some of the background and history of the dragon; their origins and their elemental affinities, and the curse that has all but destroyed the original dragon beast. Our hero Celo, on a quest of his own, will come face to face with, quite possibly, the oldest and only living ‘true’ dragon who offers up his story, in advance of a request of our story line hero.

CELO’S QUEST is a story of reflection; of a history between dragon and man; and curses and magic. The premise is revealing and imaginative with a hint of greater things to come.

He’s pretended to share their views and has worked his way up the ranks to co-pilot of the Armada Seven, commanded by the most vicious space captain of all. The capture of Princess Anguissa and her ship, the Archangel, is a moment of triumph for his superior—except that Anguissa never plays by anyone’s rules. In a flash of dragon fire, she incinerates most of the crew and takes command of the Armada Seven. Ryke is spared, but he’s not sure why—what plans does the beautiful dragon princess have for his future? And what will she demand to grant his wish of returning home?

•••••••••••

REVIEW: WYVERN’S OUTLAW is the fourth full-length instalment in Deborah Cooke’s adult THE DRAGON OF INCENDIUM sci-fi, paranormal/fantasy series focusing on the twelve royal princesses of Incendium. This is princess Anguissa, and Ryke’s story line. WYVERN’S OUTLAW can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Ryke and Anguissa) WYVERN’S OUTLAW follows the building but forbidden relationship between Ryke of the planet Centurios, and dragon shifter Princess Anguissa of the planet Incendium, two species who have long considered one another repellent and disgusting-dragons are abominations; and the umbros of Centurios are capable of destroying much more than the body, but the mind and the soul. To save her crew and the volatile cargo they carry in the hold Anguissa sacrifices herself to the captain, of the spaceship the Gloria Furore, but in doing so will meet her future and the Carrier of the Seed. Enter the Armada Seven and Gloria Furore reluctant co-pilot Lieutenant Ryke, and the man with whom Anguissa will fall in love. What ensues is the back and forth voyage of discovery that reveals there is more to Ryke than meets the eye.

Lieutenant Ryke is an outlaw; a captive of the Armada Seven. Six long years held prisoner pretending to agree with his captain’s views our hero has planned and prepared for his eventual escape, an escape that now includes the woman that strangely but quickly calls to his heart. Princess Anguissa never expected to find the ‘Carrier of the Seed, and makes quick work of seducing the man she believes is not, and never will be, her ‘HeartKeeper’ or her happily ever after. On the run and heading back to Centurios, Ryke and Anguissa will ‘share’ memories of the past that bring our couple closer together.

WYVERN’S OUTLAW is a detailed and enthusiastic story line involving space jumping, telepathy, dream walking, and shape shifting; a comprehensive and intricate tale of mortal enemies whose ‘futures’ are destined by nature and DNA. The premise is entertaining and intriguing; the characters are charismatic, colorful and energetic; the romance is fated, seductive and passionate.

Review:

Something to Howl About by Christine Warren is a novella that introduces her new Alphaville series. Annie Cryer, our heroine, is a wolf shifter, a doctor and a well known scientific genius.  Having been banished last three years ago, Annie has been a loner traveling through the country.  But Annie receives word from her NY Pack leader that if she goes to Alpha, Washington and helps their pack find a solution to their problem, he will allow her to come back to NY after she is done.  Despite not looking forward to going to Alpha, as it is a place where damaged or problem shifters go, she wants to go home to her pack, so she agrees.

Grizzly shifter, Jonas Browning, has a problem with his pack; his clan has not had a child born to them in over a hundred years.  The mayor of Alpha convinces Jonas that Dr. Annie Cryer is the one person who can possibly figure out the problem, and come up with a resolution.  Though he is not happy, he agrees.  When Annie arrives to meet the Mayor, both she and Jonas get off on the wrong foot.   She immediately feels the strong attraction and recognizes to her dismay that he is her mate.  Make no mistake, Jonas is attractive and hot, but Annie wants to go back to NY and now finding her mate will stop that.  Jonas feels his bear being attracted to Annie, but when he hears her mention that they are mates, he will flip out.  He doesn’t believe in mates for his grizzly pack; Jonas believes they fall in love and after time move on, if they want;  no forever mate.  His attitude pushes her away, and though she works on their issue, she avoids Jonas at all costs.

What follows is a light, quick paranormal story that was fun, and very steamy.  In a short time, Jonas will learn from his mother that he is wrong about the mating process, and he will try to win back Annie.   Their chemistry together was burning the pages, and I enjoyed the banter between them.  In Something to Howl About, we were introduced to some excellent characters, which open the door to the start of this series.   Christine Warren once again gives us a taste of this new series, and I for one plan to be reading this.  If you like Paranormal, and Shifters, then I think you will too.

Celebrate Ten Years Of Paranormal Romance From Beloved Author Terry Spear

Danger, intrigue, and forbidden love in a wolf shifter world so compelling, you’ll swear it’s real life…

Bella, a female red werewolf, was adopted by a pack of gray wolves as a pup. Now grown up, the alpha of the pack tries to make her his mate against her will–Bella knows she has no choice but to run away.

She makes her way as a lone wolf until childhood friend, Devlyn, comes to bring her home. On their journey back, they get tangled in up in unimaginable danger and must apprehend a werewolf murderer while keeping their identity secret from humans. The chemistry between them sizzles like never before…but they both know if they mate, Devlyn will have to fight the pack’s wicked alpha…and it’s a fight to the death.

As a companion to Bella and Devlyn’s story, this edition includes an exclusive, brand new novella that brings the story of the lupus garou family full circle.

REVIEW: HEART OF THE WOLF is the first instalment in Terry Spear’s contemporary, adult HEART OF THE WOLF paranormal, romance series focusing on the lupus garou-wolf shifter. This is red wolf Bella Wilder, and gray wolf Devlyn Greystoke’s story line.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Bella and Devlyn) HEART OF THE WOLF follows the second chance romance between wolf shifters Bella Wilder, and Devlyn Greystoke. Approximately 160 years earlier red wolf shifter Bella Wilder lost her entire family to a fire that all but destroyed her life. Taken in by the local gray wolf pack, our heroine found herself the target of the pack alpha Volan-a powerful, controlling and abusive wolf who was determined to make Bella his mate…but Bella was in love with someone else, a wolf whose own life would be forfeited if Bella acted upon her feelings and attraction. On the run to save both of their lives Bella would come face to face with her past when the man that she loved was forced to bring our heroine back to the pack. Enter Devlyn Greystoke, Bella’s would be mate, and the man with whom our heroine had fallen in love. What ensues is the rekindling romance between Devlyn and Bella; the potential fall out when Bella, as one of the few remaining red wolf shifter in existence, is targeted by her own kind; and the hunt for a potential serial killer –a red wolf shifter-targeting women with red hair.

HEART OF THE WOLF introduces several characters including Devlyn’s cousins Tanner and Heath; gray alpha pack leader Volan; Bella’s father figure and fellow gray wolf Argos; red wolf shifters Alfred, Nicol and Ross; local animal control Harry Thompson; and Bella’s neighbour and best friend Chrissie.

The world building reveals some of the background of the wolf shifter with each ‘wolf pack’ connecting to a similar yet differing story. The reader is pulled into the violent world of the shifter-the fight to the death for power and control- their civilization and practices-and the struggle to find a mate when the human world is determined to destroy them all.

HEART OF THE WOLF is a story of second chances; of family and friendship; of betrayal and revenge. The premise is entertaining; the characters are strong and charismatic; the romance is fated and passionate. An enjoyable story line with a few twists and turns as two shifters find love on the run.

NIGHT WOLF by Terry Spear

NIGHT WOLF by Terry Spear is a novella length story line included with my copy of HEART OF THE WOLF. NIGHT WOLF focuses on Bella’s long lost sister Serena Wilder, and Devlyn’s cousin Tanner Graystoke.

Approximately 160 years earlier red wolf shifter Serena Wilder thought she lost her entire family to a fire that ravaged the forest and surrounding area where she and her family once lived. Taken in by a human family, as one of their own, Serena grew up, on the other side of the country, never having contact with her own kind until she ventured off on her own only to be robbed and taken advantage of by a man she trusted-a gray wolf shifter who took everything and ran. Remembering the hidden box in her woodland, family home Serena Wilder will return to the Colorado Rockies only to discover the new inhabitants are four gray wolf shifter brothers who mistake our heroine as someone from her past. What ensues is the quick building relationship between Tanner and Serena as they go in search of the man who robbed Serena of her money and her pride.

NIGHT WOLF is a quick read; a sweet and sexy story line of fated mates, retribution and revenge. The premise is charming; the characters are charismatic; the romance is seductive and hot.

excerpt

“It’s a picture of me.” He glanced back at the photo he’d set upright on her night¬stand. “Great image, too. One of my better pictures.”
“What of it? It was too big to fit on the fridge. I told him not to send any more that size because they’re too big.”
Devlyn pulled the back of the frame open, and she knew he’d discover the truth.
“You’ve had this one enlarged. Gives a photo ID on the back, a local Oregon printer. You had a smaller ver¬sion of the same photo on the fridge, probably the one he sent you.” He cast her an elusive smile.
She pursed her lips.
Pulling the covers back down, he exposed her breasts to the cool air in the bedroom. Instantly, the nipples turned into pert red peaks. He leaned over and kissed one and then the other, making them throb with need.
But she couldn’t mate with him, as much as her body readied itself to accept his virile strength. She’d endanger him too much if she gave into her primal instincts, her deep-seated cravings for the gray. She touched his whis¬kery cheek. “You were supposed to sleep on the couch.”
“You’ve been keeping my image close to your bed. Now you can keep the flesh and blood me in your bed.” He climbed into bed next to her and touched her cheek. “Tell me how much you love me, Bella. Tell me how many times you wrote to whoever it was, asking about me.”
“He didn’t tell me you searched for me.”
“Who didn’t tell you?”
She sensed the tightness in his voice, the way he barely curbed his anger. “It’s late. We need to sleep.”
He ran his tongue down her belly, forcing a quiver of anticipation. “I won’t quit asking until you tell me. Who was it?”
Giving up the guarded secret, she sighed heavily and admitted, “Argos.”
Devlyn stilled his actions and growled, irritated that the old wolf hadn’t told him the truth. How he had longed to know what had become of Bella all those years. When he’d spoken to Argos, the sly old wolf had assured him she’d be all right. He should have known Argos knew what had happened to her. “Damn him.”
“I shouldn’t have told you. I wrote to let him know I was safe after I ran away. I couldn’t let him think I’d died. From then on, we corresponded.”
“No wonder he knew it was you in that news report. I figured he had some kind of a sixth sense. But all along he knew you lived in the area.” He studied her eyes, tired and wary. The annoyance he felt that Argos had kept the secret about Bella faded into wry amusement. “You wanted to know about me, about how I fared.”
“Don’t be so conceited.”
Knowing she disguised the truth, his lips curved up. His intense craving to mate with her filled him with an ache he longed to fulfill. He threaded his fingers through her satiny hair and licked her throat. She moaned. His erection pulsed with renewed gusto. His instincts were right concerning her. She wanted him as much as he lusted after her.
He pressed his arousal against her soft body. “You know how much I desire to have you, Bella. Tell me you want me, too.”
Shaking her head, her eyes misted.
He growled at her stubbornness. Then he nuzzled his cheek against hers, enjoying the delicate ivory fra¬grance she’d washed with, hoping she’d succumb to his advances. He ran his finger over her firm nipple. “I won’t let Volan have you. We’ll return to the pack and then—”
“No. He’ll kill you. I don’t want you for a mate. Don’t you understand?” She tried to pull away from him, her voice heated with anger. “I don’t want you.”
But he recognized from her words and actions that it wasn’t true; he’d use every trick he knew to convince her to tell the truth.

Description:
When a favorite customer on his delivery route needs a favor, Tanner Richards agrees to help without a second thought. The last thing he expects is to face off against the man’s spitfire granddaughter.

Crystal Malloy is near her breaking point. Her beloved grandfather constantly skirts the rules at the retirement center where he’s recovering from surgery. She’s caring for his escape artist dog, even if it means abandoning her salon customers, and she has no time for a romantic attraction to the handsome new stranger.

After Tanner’s reassigned to Mystic Creek, Crystal can no longer ignore how much she misjudged the man’s good intentions. She has known too much sorrow to easily open her heart, but she can’t deny that Tanner and his children could gift her with a happiness beyond compare–if only she can forgive herself for the past and accept that she’s deserving of such a love.

Review:

Spring Forward by Catherine Anderson is the 4th book in her wonderful Mystic Creek series. Crystal Malloy, our heroine, lives with her grandfather (Tuck), who brought her up; she also manages a hair salon.  Crystal’s grandfather is currently recovering from surgery after a fall at a retirement home, and Crystal is beside herself trying to find his dog, Rip, who is always running away every day.

Tanner Richards, our hero, is a parcel delivery driver, who has always been a friend to Tuck; and when Tuck calls him to bring him some beer and chewing tobacco, he doesn’t hesitate.  Unfortunately, Tanner will get into trouble, as the nasty head of the facility discovers the forbidden goods, and calls Crystal.  She will threaten Crystal to report the truck driver, or she will send Tuck home, even if he isn’t ready.

This will open the door for Crystal and Tanner to meet.  Some fun begins when Tanner has to deliver a package to Crystal and finds himself trapped in the yard by Rip, who was a terror and blocks him from escaping, eventually trying to pulling off some clothes to distract the dog.  Crystal will arrive home to see a half naked stranger stuck on her porch; she will rescue him, and in a short time when they meet again, and a slow built romance will begin.

What follows is a sweet romance between Tanner, who is a widower, with two children and the single, but emotionally damaged Crystal.  Before Tuck took Crystal to live with him, she suffered emotional abuse from her father and mother, and the tragic loss of her younger sister.  Crystal loves her grandfather very much, but those days with her parents caused her to blame herself for anything that goes wrong; she doesn’t think she is good for Tanner and his children.  Tanner will do all he kind to convince Crystal to believe in herself.  Will Crystal’s love for Tanner help her get past her issues?

There is also a very nice side romance between Tuck and a lady in the retirement home, Essie.  Essie is a very smart, independent and wealthy woman, who will fall for Tuck.  There is some fun when it is Essie who will help Tuck against the evil administrator.  Catherine Anderson’s ability to create wonderful characters makes this a great series; as I loved Tanner, Crystal, Tuck, Tanner’s kids and Essie.  I loved Rip more so later in the book, when he calmed down more and was very loving to the kids, and Crystal, as well as being protective.

Spring Forward was a fun, romantic and sexy read, with two great couples, cute children, and a crazy dog.  Catherine Anderson once again gives us a wonderful story that was very well written.  I suggest if you have not read the Mystic Creek series, you need to do so soon and start with the first book.
