Grace Draven’s DRACONUS:

Four years ago, Leida was the golden-voiced favorite of a dragon lord until she stole a single treasure and vanished without a word. Magnus Silverclaw is a long-lived earth dragon skilled in the ways of magic. Furious over his human mistress’s betrayal, he has sworn retribution and when she is captured, he has his chance. Leida is dragged before a dragon tribunal for high treason where the punishment is death.

But time hasn’t dimmed her love for Magnus, nor cooled the fires of their mutual attraction. Throwing herself at the dragon’s mercy, Leida is horrified to learn her fate: a bespelled silver collar set with gems and four years of servitude to her former lord. The revenge is everything the earth dragon could wish except for one thing – his beautiful mistress refuses to divulge the reason for her deception. Leida of the Glimmer South has a carefully guarded secret that can either reunite her with Magnus, or tear them apart forever…

~Draconus was previously published by the now-defunct Amber Quill Press.~

DRACONUS by Grace Draven

NOTE: Draconus was originally released as a stand alone in 2005

REVIEW: DRACONUS by Grace Draven is an adult, paranormal/fantasy romance story line focusing on dragon lord Magnus Silverclaw, and his former human mistress and servant Leida of the Glimmer South, who disappeared four years earlier. Finding the ‘dragon’ whom she loved in a passionate entanglement with another woman, Leida took what wasn’t hers to take, and headed to places unknown. Four years later, captured and now a prisoner of the dragon she loved, Leida would beg mercy for her life but in doing so must reveal a secret that would change the dynamics of her relationship with the dragon she loved.

Magnus is an alpha male; a dragon lord revered by all he commands but loved by the only woman who has escaped his hold. Leida has loved her dragon lord from the very start but jealousy, envy and a lack of communication force Leida to run to save her heart.

DRACONUS is a quick read; a story of betrayal, misunderstanding and heartbreak; secrets and revelations. Grace Draven pulls the reader into a story of romance and forgiveness. There is limited world and character development-I was hoping for a little more information about the missing years for both of our story line characters. The premise is entertaining; the romance seductive and passionate.

Dana Marton’s DRAGON LORD:

Draknart is the scourge of the countryside, a dragon well accustomed to defeating and devouring all the knights and sacrificial maidens sent his way. But when another maiden turns up at his cave, he finds that she’s not the easy meal he expected. Einin of Downwood is fierce and unafraid… and she’s armed for battle. Intrigued, Draknart realizes that not only does his intended victim arouse more than just his appetite, her arrival is could be fortuitous in more ways than one.

Flood, famine and war has ravaged the village of Downwood, and the local priest blames Draknart’s evil influence. Hoping to lift the curse on her village, Einin seeks out the dragon with the aim of being a slayer rather than a sacrifice. What she doesn’t know is that Draknart is a dragon under a fairy queen’s curse himself, doomed to transform to a man from midnight until dawn. To her surprise, Draknart offers her a bargain, one that might help her village – but at a high cost. With few options and even fewer resources at her command, Einin has no choice but to make a deal with a dragon.

••••••••••

REVIEW: DRAGON LORD by Dana Marton is an adult, paranormal/fantasy romance story line focusing on dragon Draknart, and human female Einen of Downwood.

Einen is an anomaly in her village; a strong, independent young woman who would become Downwood’s most recent virgin sacrifice to the giant dragon who lived under the mountain. To his own shock and dismay Draknart would discover that he was quite attracted to the scrappy, little human, a surprise that comes at a cost for both man and beast. Cursed to live a dual life as both man and beast, Draknart prepares to make a sacrifice of his own. What ensues is the building friendship and relationship between Draknart and Einen, as they prepare for what lies ahead.

Dana Marton reveals the backstory and history for both of our leading characters-from Einen’s struggles to survive to the events leading up to Draknart’s curse by the gods. The premise is engaging and entertaining; the romance is passionate and captivating; the characters are colorful, charismatic and sassy.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 26, 2018

I don’t do relationships.

I’ve lived my life hiding my scars, revealing myself only the in the scripts I write and the characters I voice.

Few people know the real me. I’m too careful. Too afraid of getting burned all over again.

Enter Beverly Martin. A movie star. A woman so beautiful and caring she makes my heart ache. She says she wants me—and her touch almost makes me believe that a girl like her could love a man like me.

But being with her would mean letting the spotlight of fame shine on me, too. And I’m not sure I can do that—even if walking away means losing the woman I love.

Each novel in the series is a STANDALONE romance with a guaranteed HEA!

••••••••••

REVIEW: LIGHT MY FIRE is the eleventh instalment in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult MAN OF THE MONTH novella, romance series focusing on a fund raiser for the popular Austin, Texas bar known as The Fix. This is writer and podcaster /voice actor Griffin ‘Blaize’ Draper, and actress Beverly Martin’s story line. LIGHT MY FIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary although I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.

SOME BACKGROUND: The Fix on Sixth, a local Austin hangout and bar, is in desperate need of renovations and a quick influx of cash so a plan is put into motion, by a group of regulars, a plan that includes a Man of the Month calendar competition, a recipe book, and a reality show aimed at rehabbing the bar.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Griffin and Beverly) LIGHT MY FIRE follows the slow building romance between writer and podcaster /voice actor Griffin ‘Blaize’ Draper, and actress Beverly Martin. For months Griffin and Beverly have been dancing around once another but Griffin hides the painful reminders of a childhood accident, an accident that has left our hero both emotionally and physically scarred. When his most recent manuscript is selected for Beverly’s next movie, our leading couple must work together in an effort to prepare the manuscript for final reading. What ensues is the barely veiled palpable sexual energy and attraction between Beverly and Griffin, and the potential fall-out as Griffin struggles with the paparazzi, Hollywood’s perception of beauty, and the scars that are attracting some unwanted attention.

LIGHT MY FIRE is a quick read; a story of the physical vs the mental; of one man’s struggle to move on with his life, and of one woman who has fallen in love with his heart and his soul. The premise is engaging, revealing and emotional; the romance is passionate and seductive; the characters are real and energetic. LIGHT MY FIRE is a tender, sweet and spicy story where love does conquer all.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 26, 2018

I am Comet Caldwell.

And I sort of, kind of, absolutely hate my name.

People expect extraordinary things from a girl named Comet. That she’ll be effortlessly cool and light up a room the way a comet blazes across the sky.

But from the shyness that makes her book-character friends more appealing than real people to the parents whose indifference hurts more than an open wound, Comet has never wanted to be the center of attention. She can’t wait to graduate from her high school in Edinburgh, Scotland, where the only place she ever feels truly herself is on her anonymous poetry blog. But surely that will change once she leaves to attend university somewhere far, far away.

When new student Tobias King blazes in from America and shakes up the school, Comet thinks she’s got the bad boy figured out. Until they’re thrown together for a class assignment and begin to form an unlikely connection. Everything shifts in Comet’s ordinary world. Tobias has a dark past and runs with a tough crowd—and none of them are happy about his interest in Comet. Targeted by bullies and thrown into the spotlight, Comet and Tobias can go their separate ways…or take a risk on something extraordinary.

REVIEW: THE FRAGILE ORDINARY by Samantha Young is a contemporary, young adult story line focusing on sixteen year old British student Comet Caldwell, and American Tobias King.

Told from first person point of view (Comet) THE FRAGILE ORDINARY follows one year in the life of sixteen year old Comet Caldwell, a product of emotionally absent parents whose lifestyle has affected their only child. Comet is a bit of a loner; a unique teen whose sense of style is one of a kind; a socially-awkward nerd who prefers to spend Friday nights with a book rather than partying with her two closest friends. But things are about to get a little more exciting when an American student saunters into our heroine’s life. Enter sixteen-year old Tobias King, the young man with whom Comet will fall in love. What ensues is the slow building friendship and relationship between our leading couple, and the fall-out as life, betrayal and loss threaten any semblance of normalcy for our struggling heroine.

Comet Caldwell uses poetry and pose to pen her deepest secrets and the painful reality of life amongst the Caldwell clan. Her home life is a mess, as she battles the emotional highs and lows of her first teenage crush without the support of the people at home. Tobias King has been uprooted from his American home, and finds himself caught between right and wrong. Meeting Comet Caldwell is like a breath of fresh air but not all is well as life begins to spiral out of control.

THE FRAGILE ORDINARY has all of the hallmarks of the young adult genre: oblivious and narcissistic parents who struggle to maintain their own destructive relationship; the mean girls and boys whose direction in life is to make everyone else miserable and sad by spreading lies and rumors, issuing threats and ultimatums; a love triangle or a potential for a love triangle involving one or both of the leading characters; the odd-ball heroine who is a little bit clumsy, unfashionable, geeky and lost; and ultimately, the object of our heroine’s affection- the beautiful, athletic and broken bad boy whose own secrets and history are damaged and dark.

Samantha Young pulls the reader into a coming of age, heart-breaking story. An emotional roller coaster of teenaged angst mixed with successes and failures, rejection and acceptance, ultimate highs and pitiful lows. The premise is endearing; the romance is sweet and passionate-the sex scenes are limited and mostly implied; the characters are colorful and engaging.

Grip it softly.
Stroke it smooth.
And you’ll sink right into the hole. That’s my motto both on and off the golf course. The women come in full supply everywhere I go and there are no complaints. Maybe it’s the size of my driver that gets them going.

I’m Lucas “Ace” Montgomery, professional golfer and world record holder for the longest drive in golf history. The PGA Tour has been my life, but it’s time for a break. A few relaxing weeks of drinking and golf with friends in Myrtle Beach is what I need. However, when a bright pink ball knocks me out on the course, and a blonde beauty comes to my aid, I expect to see a gallery girl, a.k.a a member of the Party Groupie Association. Trust me, those girls know how to have fun. Although, to my surprise, it’s not what I get at all.

Dr. Ashley Locke is beautiful and everything I’d want if I was ever to get serious about someone. Unfortunately, she has no interest in me whatsoever which only makes me want her more. All she wants is to get through her friend’s bachelorette weekend and go back to her life, but after injuring me on the course, I’m not letting her run away so easily. When I want something, I get it.

I’m not competing for money this time. All I want is to win her heart.

••••••••••

REVIEW: GOING FOR THE HOLE by LP Dover is a stand alone, romance story line focusing on professional golfer Lucas ‘Ace’ Montgomery, and physician Dr. Ashley Locke. There is a slight cross-over with the author’s BREAKAWAY series byway of a couple of cameo appearances, and the mention of the Charlotte Strikers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Lucas and Ashley) GOING FOR THE HOLE follows the building relationship between professional golfer Lucas ‘Ace’ Montgomery, and physician Dr. Ashley Locke. Needing some down time, away from the grind of the PGA tour Lucas Montgomery, his brother and caddie Aiden, and best friend Noah Bradfield booked some R&R in Myrtle Beach, R&R that would change each of their futures, for the better. Enter Dr. Ashley Locke, in town for her brother’s fiancee’s bachelorette weekend, and the woman with whom Lucas would fall in love. What ensues is the quick building relationship and romance between Lucas and Ashley, and the potential fall-out as Ashley is confronted by a perceived betrayal.

Dr.Ashley Locke has no idea that the man with whom she will fall in love is a successful and professional golfer; a manwh*re by reputation, and a media target both on and off of the green. Struggling to let Lucas into her heart, Ashley is ever vigilant of the possible ramifications of media exposure on her career and that of her family practice. Lucas Montgomery knows he has found his happily ever after but not everything goes according to plan when a private conversation becomes fodder for the paparazzi and a struggling journalist.

The relationship between Ashley and Lucas begins as a one-night stand but Lucas wants more than Ashley is willing to give. Hoping to convince Ashley take a chance, Lucas begins a slow seduction of our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are passionate and intimate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Ashley’s best friend Harper Welch who has caught the eye of Noah Bradfield: and Aiden Montgomery who finds himself attracted to a woman who could possibly betray them all.

GOING FOR THE HOLE is a delightful, realistic and spirited story line. The premise is energetic and satisfying; the characters are sassy, enthusiastic and animated; the romance is seductive and hot. GOING FOR THE HOLE is a captivating and engaging tale.

“When can I see you again?”
I shook my head. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“I took a needle in the ass for you. Surely, that deserves more of your attention?”
Why did he always have to give me that devilish smile of his? As much as I wanted to hate it, I couldn’t.“Why are you doing this? Can’t you find someone else?”
“Of course I can, but I want you. We can have secret meetings in here if you’re still embarrassed to be seen in public with me.”
I rolled my eyes. “I’m not embarrassed. You’re you, and I’m a respectable member of society.”
He burst out laughing. “Okay, I see how it is.”
“I just don’t want the publicity,” I added. “You can understand that, right? You of all people should know what it’s like not to have privacy.”
His smile faded. “You’re right, I do, but it’s my life. I can’t change who I am.” My body shivered with the intensity of his stare. “For once, I thought I’d found someone who wanted me for me and not my money or fame.”
Guilt racked my body and I sighed. “Okay, I give in. I can see you tomorrow, after I get out of the spa. Maybe we can order in room service.”
Eyes twinkling, he went over to the door and opened it. “Now that’s a plan I can get behind.”
Before I could walk out, he stood in my way, body close to mine. “I’m going to break through that ice wall of yours, sunshine. One way or another.”
I batted my eyelashes in an innocent matter. “Good luck with that.”

In this next novel in the explosive, brand-new romantic suspense Sons of Broad series from Tara Thomas comes a novel of deadly secrets and hidden danger. In the sultry streets of Charleston, one family, ruled by its powerful, take-no-prisoners sons, has risen to the top. But a merciless enemy is out to destroy them…and everyone they hold close…

SHE SWORE TO KEEP HER PROMISES.

BUT CAN SHE KEEP THEM SAFE…AND PROTECT HER HEART?

Charleston Police Officer Alyssa Adams made a promise years ago to protect innocent women from harm. Now, she won’t rest until she can reunite every lost daughter with her family.Bring closure to every grieving husband. And, most of all, find out what happened the night her own sister disappeared, more than ten years ago…

As the eldest of the Benedict brothers, Kipling will stop at nothing to protect his family from a threat that aims to destroy them once and for all. But when a long-lost sibling is kidnapped by a powerful adversary, Alyssa is the only one he can turn to to get her back.

As Alyssa and Kipling band together to find their lost siblings, a powerful attraction builds between them that they can’t ignore. As the truth comes to light, will one broken promise tear them apart?

••••••••••

REVIEW: BROKEN PROMISE is the third full-length instalment in Tara Thomas’ contemporary, adult SONS OF BROAD romantic suspense series. This is Charleston Police Officer Alyssa Adams, and billionaire businessman Kipling Benedict’s story line. BROKEN PROMISE can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for cohesion and backstory as there is a continuing premise and theme throughout.

Told from several third person points of view including Alyssa and Kipling BROKEN PROMISE follows the building but forbidden relationship between Charleston Police Officer Alyssa Adams, and billionaire Kipling Benedict. Weeks earlier Officer Adams arrested Kipling Benedict on suspicion of murder but in the ensuing time Alyssa is all too well aware that there is more going down than meets the eye. With the body count rising, and each successive murder linked back to the Benedict brothers and their significant others, Alyssa’s own family history begins to unravel as threats against our heroine finds Kipling and Alyssa working together to reveal the truth. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Alyssa and Kipling, as they are pulled into a game of cat and mouse wherein Alyssa and Kipling have been targeted by someone from the past.

BROKEN PROMISE is the culmination of several story lines including the original three-part serial that focused on deception and revenge; jealousy and envy. The Benedict brothers have been pulled into the ‘Gentleman’s’ game of vengeance, a game that involved murder, torture and the ultimate act of betrayal. The premise is entertaining and engaging; the characters are charismatic; the romance is passionate and fated. I did struggle with the slow progress of events throughout the story; I am hoping the author has plans for Jade.

Though he would deny it if asked, Kipling Benedict felt oddly out of place at his younger brother’s vow renewal. He chalked it up to both of his younger brothers now be- ing in committed relationships, but that didn’t make him feel any better. In fact, as he stood by Knox and listened as he pledged to love, honor, and cherish his wife, Bea, Kipling actually felt worse.
Worse because he was envious of what his brothers had. Though he could pound his fists into something, it wouldn’t change anything. He’d accepted a long time ago that his station in life was to be alone. Having fallen in love hard and fast in college, paired with only being seen for his net worth, left him not wanting to try again. Being alone was so much easier.
However, at times such as this, he became acutely aware of the differences between acceptance and contentment. Because while he may have accepted that he would be alone, he was not content.
“You may kiss your bride,” the minister said, dragging him back to the small historic chapel Bea had selected for the renewal.
Kipling clapped as his brother took his wife in his arms

and dipped her low, snagging a kiss while he did so. They both looked so blissfully in love, he couldn’t help but smile at the joy and peace seen in the couple. If anyone deserved a happily ever after, they did. They had originally married in secret, but more than that, they’d both narrowly escaped with their lives after a security guard hired to protect Bea turned out to be the thug who had beat her up and left her for dead months earlier.
Kipling had asked Knox a few days ago if he was ready to give up his bachelor status forever since he was going public with his wedding this time. They’d been outside. Tilly sat at a nearby table in the garden and both Keaton and Bea sat with her. From what Kipling was able to pick up on, they were looking at a map and trying to determine the best location for a public vegetable garden. Bea looked up and winked at Knox.
His brother had only replied, “The wedding won’t come soon enough for me.”
Kipling felt the truth in his words that day, but now he saw it as the happy couple stood up, and laughed, only hav- ing eyes for the other.
Kipling felt his mouth curl up into a smile as the couple walked down the aisle, nodding to the small gathering of friends and family in attendance. Kipling’s hands froze when he saw who waited by the chapel doors.
Alyssa Adams. Officer Alyssa Adams.
The corner of his mouth lifted. He hadn’t expected her to be here today. It was ridiculous how happy he was to see her. Especially since she made no secret of the fact that she didn’t like him, his money, or anything about him. The way Kipling saw it, she presented him with a challenge and he never backed down from a challenge. But it was more than that. It was the way she never backed down from him

and how when she sparred verbally with him, it made him feel alive in a way he rarely felt.
He kept his eyes on her as he made his way down the aisle behind his brother. Though he had seen her wear a dress once before at the party announcing Keaton and Tilly’s engagement and the new division of Benedict Indus- tries, today she wore a more formal one. It hit above her knee, showing off her long legs and toned calves. He’d al- ways considered himself a leg man. Yes, breasts were great and he had no problem appreciating a woman’s backside, but legs . . .
There was just something about a woman’s legs. Espe- cially when they looked like Alyssa’s. Long and lean and strong. It was so easy to imagine them wrapped around his waist while he angled his hips to—
“Stop it.” His youngest brother, Keaton, punched his arm. “Seriously, man. What happened to your poker face?” They had made it out of the chapel and were waiting for the remaining guests to leave the church so they could
all walk to the reception area.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Kipling told Keaton. In truth, he shouldn’t be the least bit interested in the police officer. It seemed as if each time he saw her, she only gave him disturbing news about his family. Or worse yet, arrested him. He didn’t understand how he could pos- sibly find her attractive, but he did. Not only that, but he wanted her. Badly.
“You don’t know what I’m talking about.” His youngest brother snorted. “Yeah, right.”
Kipling shot him a look that would have stopped an- other man in his tracks, but that apparently didn’t work on younger brothers. No, the look didn’t have any sort of im- pact on Keaton, who kept right on talking.
“You know,” Keaton said, nodding toward Alyssa who

was currently chatting with Janie Roberts, her old partner, who would soon become Bea’s sister-in-law. “If you wanted, you could, I don’t know, ask her out or something.”
He thought about playing dumb, pretending he wasn’t sure who Keaton was talking about, but he’d never been one to play the fool and he sure as hell wasn’t going to start now.
“It’s not as simple as that,” Kipling told his younger brother. It was a pat answer, but the truth. Looking at Al- yssa while she spoke to her friend, he wished things were different. Damn, but he could watch her for hours. Today, there was very little to be seen of the straight-laced in- vestigator she was around him and he found the contrast mesmerizing. She talked with Janie using her entire body. She was so animated and her smile so genuine, he couldn’t look away. Not only that, but he’d always seen her with her hair pulled back in a ponytail and today it was free to dance around her shoulders in soft waves. The sunlight made the normal brown a plethora of colors: blond, red, and even hints of black.
Keaton narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms. “Why isn’t it that simple?”
“I’m not going to stand here and explain myself to you,” Kipling said. “You’re going to have to take my word for it.”
“If this is about that girl in college . . .” Keaton started, but stopped when Kipling raised his hand.
“Don’t go there,” Kipling warned his younger brother. “Not now. Not ever.”
He would live his life and never complain if no one ever brought up the girl he dated in college. The one he fell hard for. The one he planned to marry. The one who made a fool out of him.
His stomach twisted and he wondered if he’d ever think of her without wanting to throw up. He reminded himself

that at least he’d gotten out of the situation and hadn’t been stupid enough to elope. She’d actually suggested they do exactly that before they went to his house for Christmas break.
Even then, it appeared as if Keaton was going to argue with him. Fortunately, Tilly, his fiancée, came up to them and looped her arm through Keaton’s.
“Come on, you guys,” Tilly said. “The photographer wants to do some family shots.”
“Why do I have to get my picture taken?” Kipling mum- bled while straightening his tie. “It’s not my wedding.”
But he followed Keaton and Tilly to the front of the chapel anyway, unable to keep himself from looking over his shoulder at Alyssa one last time.

NOTE: THE PHOENIX PROJECT was originally released in the 2010 Nocturnal Anthology.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Amara and Nick) THE PHOENIX PROJECT follows federal agent Nick Gregory as he is thrown into a world  he knew nothing about. Investigating the disappearance of a number of people Nick finds himself one of the many, a part of a scientific experiment that goes horribly wrong. An anti-aging protocol has somehow been modified such that the victims are turned into hybrid beings of man and beast. To ensure the survival of the fittest, the new creations are thrown together in an effort to ferret out the weak and the strong, as well as forcing the interactions between potential mates. Enter Amara, Nick’s alpha mate, and the woman with whom he will fall in love. In order to survive Nick and Amara must prove they are worthy of the title of alpha, as well as ensuring the survival of everyone involved. Escape is the only option in the hopes the government will come through with a mandated policy in order to prevent the destruction of the beasts known as the Morphates.

THE PHOENIX PROJECT is an action packed, entertaining and intriguing story line that looks at the possibility of scientific research used for nefarious purposes. The premise is provocative and dramatic; the characters are charismatic and strong; the romance is erotic, intense and fated by DNA- the relationship between Amara and Nick is highly sexual and animalistic. I do have a concern about the origin of the Phoenix Project and how potential life-saving research resulted in hybridized DNA-some background information is warranted. There is no mention of the how and why. I am hoping for more information in the upcoming sequel.

REVIEW: THE SCIENCE OF PLEASURE is the second instalment in Jacquelyn Frank’s multi-genre adult, sci-fi/paranormal/urban fantasy/ post apocalyptic Morphate romance series focusing on a scientific experiment known as the Phoenix Project that resulted in a hybrid human known as the Morphate. This is scientist Dr. Jenesis DeBruehl, and alpha Kincaid ‘Kin’ Gregory’s story line. THE SCIENCE OF PLEASURE can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading book one The Phoenix Project for some backstory and history. Kincaid Gregory is Nick Gregory’s brother (The Phoenix Project).

NOTE: The Science of Pleasure was originally released in the 2013 anthology The Pleasure Project.

Told form dual third person perspectives (Jenesis and Kincaid) THE SCIENCE OF PLEASURE fast forwards the series seven years in that the government has disbanded the scientific research that resulted in a catastrophic experiment by a man hoping to create a more powerful being. Genetic experimentation into cellular death and recovery (anti-aging protocol) known as the Phoenix Project was headed by Dr Jenesis DeBruehl, but unbeknownst to our heroine, the results were used by her mentor, Dr. Eric Paulson, to create a hybrid army of immortal beings. Enter Alpha leader, and former police officer Kincaid Gregory, and the man with whom Jenesis will fall in love.

Jenesis DeBruehl was caught up in the disaster that destroyed so many lives. Her life ruined, and her reputation shattered, seven years later our heroine finds herself working for the very people, beings, she helped to create. Kincaid Gregory is more beast than man but meeting the woman who discovered the cellular tag that delivers specified cellular mutation commands pulls at the primal longing of a male for his mate. Hoping to take down Dr. Eric Paulson, Kincaid and Jenesis put together a plan, a plan that wasn’t as well thought out as our couple had hoped.

The initial relationship between Jenesis and Kincaid is caustic and acerbic as Kincaid struggles with the knowledge that the woman with whom he would fall in love is the very woman responsible for the mutation that destroyed so many lives. The $ex scenes are aggressive, erotic and intense-Kincaid’s beast is animalistic in his taking of our story line heroine.

THE SCIENCE OF PLEASURE is an intriguing, imaginative and intoxicating tale of the potential for the human race to destroy itself through scientific discovery. The premise is dramatic and intense; the characters are spirited, charismatic and animated; the romance is fated by passion and need.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 24, 2018

Irresistible attraction. Unimaginable danger.

I knew from the moment Noah Williamson walked into the diner that he was haunted—deeply haunted—but I couldn’t resist the lure of him. He was gorgeous and fascinating and mysterious, and like a delicate moth to a brilliant blue flame, I was drawn to him. Drawn to his fire.

But if I’d known about his job, about what happened to his wife, I’d have run the other way. Before I got caught up in the red-hot blaze of his life. Before everything in my world got burned to the ground.

It’s too late to run now. I hesitated and that was it. I fell. I fell for him before I knew there was danger in loving him.

Noah once told me that this is the way we burn—together or not at all. At the time, I didn’t know what that meant.

Now I do.

REVIEW:

What the hell just happened, and where do I begin? Wow…just wow.

THE WAY WE BURN by M. Leighton is a contemporary, adult, stand alone, romantic suspense story line focusing on FBI agent Noah Williamson and thirty-three year old waitress Poppy Blackwell.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Noah and Poppy) THE WAY WE BURN follows FBI agent Noah Williamson as he struggles to move on from a devastating past that has destroyed all semblance of normalcy in his life. Meeting thirty-three year old waitress Poppy Blackwell, finds our hero with a hope for a future, a hope that pulls at his tormented heart.

THE WAY WE BURN is a story of romance; of broken souls, broken hearts, broken minds and broken lives. The undeniable truth is heart breaking; the fall-out emotional and intense; the resulting aftermath paralyzing and powerful. M. Leighton pulls the reader into a memorable and amazing story of a vengeance that transcends reality; a love that transcends the mind.

NOAH

Maryland, eighteen months ago

“Mind going over the story with me one more time?”
I stare at the detective. I see the disdain in his eyes. I see the disbelief. He came here with his mind made up. I’m suspect number one and we both know it. What we both don’t know is that I did nothing to my wife. I would never hurt her. I don’t think I could even if I had to, even if she was trying to hurt me. She is the only woman I’ve ever loved, the only person whose happiness means more to me than my own.
Except for our daughter.
Her happiness would’ve meant more to me than my own, too.
Would’ve.
Past tense.
Grief slices through my chest like a scalpel. Clean. Neat. Surgical. Like someone is cutting out my heart.
Five months ago, we lost our daughter. And now I’ve lost Carly. How the hell is a man supposed to live through something like this? A child. Then a spouse. This is the shit nightmares are made of.
And I would know. I’ve seen nightmares. Up close. Personal. The kind that sink their teeth in and leave marks. Wounds. Scars.
Sweat beads on my upper lip. I’ve never felt such an intense sense of loss, so much pain. So much helpless, hopeless agony.
A few months ago, I’d have said a person couldn’t bear hurt like this. I’d have said the human body couldn’t take it.
But I’d have been wrong.
It can.
I’m proof. I’m still alive, still standing. Damned if I know how, but I am. Even when I’d rather not be, I am. And now, on top of everything else, I’m being questioned like a felon. I’m the primary suspect in my wife’s disappearance, and every second they spend focusing on me is another second she’s further from being found.
But there’s nothing I can do to change that. It’s Basic Detecting 101. The husband is suspect numero uno. Why? Because it usually is the husband. I know that. I also know there will be no convincing them otherwise.
Maybe if I could split my chest wide open, they’d believe me. Maybe if they could see what I’m feeling, see the bruised and bleeding thing that used to be my heart, they’d understand. Maybe if they could physically see what this is doing to me, they’d look beyond the obvious. But outside of that, there’s nothing I can say to make them understand. That’s why there’s an edge to my voice when I answer this asshole’s questions. I may not be able to change it, but I sure as hell don’t have to like it.
“It’s not a ‘story’, Detective. It’s the truth. Carly left for work Tuesday morning at seven. She said she had an early meeting. I texted her at lunch to see if she needed me to bring anything from the store. She didn’t answer. I haven’t seen or heard from her since that morning. And that was almost sixty hours ago.”
Sixty hours. That’s twelve hours after “we’ve got a good chance of finding her”, and twelve hours before “hope for the best, but expect the worst.” The window is closing.
“Had you two fought before she left?”
There’s a dull throb just above the bridge of my nose. I pinch it between my index finger and thumb. “No, we hadn’t fought. We don’t fight anymore. At all. I told you we’ve both been recovering from…from…”
I can’t make the words come out. They’re stuck in my throat like tar—black and sticky and foreign. Bitter.
“The death of your daughter. Right, right. I feel you,” he placates, making more notes on his pad. “But they never recovered her body, isn’t that right, Mr. Williamson?”
My eyes snap up to his. Surely to God he’s not insinuating…
Zero to sixty in one second. In one sentence. That’s how long it takes my blood to come to a hard boil. Like lava down a mountainside, it rushes through my veins in a thick, hot river, destroying trees and grass and flowers and life as it goes. Killing off a little more of what was left of me.
I take a deep breath, striving for cool. Or even tepid. Anything but the blazing rage that’s pumping through me.
“Detective, I’m a patient man. I work for the FBI, so I understand how this process works. I also understand that I’m at the top of your list of suspects, so I get it. I get it. But let me make one thing crystal clear.” I take a step forward. “My daughter was killed. My child is dead. So while I have agreed to jump through all your hoops, make no mistake. My tolerance has its limits and you are dangerously close to finding out what happens when my patience runs out. I’ve got nothing left to lose. Not one thing, so wiping the floor with your smug ass might actually improve my situation. You feel that?” The last is hissed through teeth clenched so tight my jaws ache. I’m practically spitting down into his face, my chest close enough to bump his if I take a deep enough breath.
I can tell by the set of his lips and the narrowing of his eyes that I’ve pissed him off. But I can also tell that he’s not fool enough to press me one more inch right now. Not one more. It’s there in the way his pupils swell. It’s there in the way his nostrils flare. He won’t push me. He’s smarter than that.
My daughter is dead.
My wife is missing.
There’s nothing left. Nothing that matters. There’s nothing they can take from me or threaten me with. Surely this pathetic lackey knows what I know from years and years of experience—men like me are unpredictable.
Unpredictable and dangerous.

••••••••••••

REVIEW: CHASE is the first instalment in the contemporary, adult SAVAGE KINGS MC erotic, MC, romance series co-authored by Lane Hart and DB West. This is twenty-seven year old Savage Kings vice president Chase Fury, and reporter Sasha Sheridan’s story line. There is a slight cross-over with the author’s PLAYING DIRTY series.

NOTE: Due to the story line content, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person points of view (Chase and Sasha) CHASE follows the second chance romance between Savage Kings vice president Chase Fury, and reporter Sasha Sheridan. Ten years earlier, high school sweethearts Chase Fury and Sasha Sheridan were the victims of a drunk-driving accident that resulted in months of recovery for our leading heroine but a recovery without the man that she loved. Fast forward to present day wherein a more matured, and hardened Chase Fury must face his past, the woman who blamed him when everything went wrong, but a woman he hasn’t stopped loving for close to ten years. What ensues is the quick, rebuilding relationship between Chase and Sasha, and the fall-out as the Savage Kings MC is targeted by Hector Cruz and the local drug cartel leaving heart breaking death, betrayal and vengeance in its wake.

Sasha Sheridan never knew the truth that destroyed her relationship with Chase Fury. Ten years earlier, facing a long recovery without the man that she loved forced our heroine to move on with her life, a path towards journalism and the respect she deserved. Chase Fury is a sexy, bearded and tattooed biker who has spent the last decade angry at the world but a decade spent growing within the ranks of the Savage Kings MC.

The relationship between Chase and Sasha is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between two people torn apart by secrets and lies but a romance that is quick to restart once the ghosts from the past have been exorcised and pushed aside. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic, and provocative.

We are introduced to a large number of colorful secondary and supporting characters including the members of the Savage Kings MC: Chase’s brother and club president Torin Fury, his wife Kennedy, and their step-sister Jade; Chase’s best friend and right hand man Abe, and his brother, tattoo artist Gabriel; club members Turtle ; MC secretary Sax, treasurer Dalton, tech guy Reece, Sergeant in Arms War, Cooper, Fast Eddie, enforcer Miles, and Sergeant Barnes. A cameo appearance by Kennedy’s sister Kelsey and the two men in her life (Eligible Receivers-Playing Dirty #4) tie the two series together. The requisite evil has many faces including meth kingpin Hector Cruz.

The world building focuses on the rekindling relationship between Chase and Sasha, as well as the friendships, strengths and failings of the Savage Kings MC. There is a war on the horizon; retribution and revenge at the forefront-a battle that will see many more loss of lives.

CHASE is a character driven, dramatic and heart breaking story line of loyalty, misunderstanding, forgiveness, betrayal and revenge. The premise is raw, realistic, gripping and tragic; the romance is compelling and seductive; the characters are sassy, charismatic and spirited.
