Review:

The Elusive Earl by Maddison Michaels was a fun read. I read it in one day. There were lots of funny moments.  The Elusive Earl is part of her Saints and Scoundrels series. I haven’t  read the first book in this series (The Devilish Duke), but they can be read as a stand-alone.

Brianna was taken in by her uncle as a small child, as she had seen her parents brutally murdered, he brought her up as his own daughter. Raised very much an independent young lady, but rather too high spirited and in trouble all the time. Brianna is the type of girl to get herself in to awkward situations, like getting engaged to two men !! She is a funny, quirky and awkward woman.

Her love of archeology leads her to Naples, and that’s where her problems start …. trying out her Italian is funny ?

Daniel is the total opposite, he is true and steadfast, he swore long ago that he’d never really marry, he’d never be the rake his father was, but there is something about Brianna that gets under his skin. And when he is tasked to rescue her in Italy, he sees her in an altogether different light.

On the way home, he has to get the captain to “marry” them, he tells Brianna that they will get an annulment once they get back.

We then have a cousin who gets kidnapped.. so the pair race off to rescue the cousin.

The Elusive Earl is mystery, with intrigue and enough romance to keep you happy as well as a comedy and a little danger.

The Artisan Heart by Dean Mayes-a review

THE ARTISAN HEART by Dean Mayes-a review

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo / Google Play

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 1, 2018

Hayden Luschcombe is a brilliant paediatrician living in Adelaide with his wife Bernadette, an ambitious event planner. His life consists of soul-wrenching days at the hospital and tedious evenings attending the lavish parties organized by Bernadette.

When an act of betrayal coincides with a traumatic confrontation, Hayden flees Adelaide, his life in ruins. His destination is Walhalla, nestled in Australia’s southern mountains, where he finds his childhood home falling apart. With nothing to return to, he stays, and begins to pick up the pieces of his life by fixing up the house his parents left behind.

A chance encounter with a precocious and deaf young girl introduces Hayden to Isabelle Sampi, a struggling artisan baker. While single-handedly raising her daughter, and trying to resurrect a bakery, Isabelle has no time for matters of the heart. Yet the presence of the handsome doctor challenges her resolve. Likewise, Hayden, protective of his own fractured heart, finds something in Isabelle that awakens dormant feelings of his own.

As their attraction grows, and the past threatens their chance at happiness, both Hayden and Isabelle will have to confront long-buried truths if they are ever to embrace a future.

•••••••••

REVIEW: THE ARTISAN HEART by Dean Mayes is an adult, contemporary, stand alone romance story line focusing on ER paediatrician Dr. Hayden Luschcombe, and artisan baker Isabelle Sampi.

Told from third person perspective THE ARTISAN HEART, set in the small Australian town of Walhalla, follows Dr. Hayden Luschcombe in the wake of both personal and professional disasters. On forced leave from the hospital, Hayden returns to his hometown, searching for the peace that has long eluded our story line hero. An easy-going and well-respected paediatrician, Hayden Luschcombe, is lost and struggles to make sense of where it all went wrong. A welcome home by the locals is met with disdain by artisan baker Isabelle Sampi, a woman Hayden remembers from his childhood days. What ensues is the building relationship between Hayden and Isabelle, and the potential fall-out as Isabelle’s past comes looking for revenge, and Hayden’s past comes looking for a second chance.

On the surface, Hayden Luschcombe is the perfect man with the ability to do and fix anything with exception of his personal life. Years as a doormat for his ambitious wife pushes Hayden one final time until the realization of what was, and what will never be forces our hero back home. Isabelle Sampi is a struggling, single mother to a deaf, seven-year old daughter, a precocious child who captures Hayden’s attention from the very start. Isabelle remembers Hayden from their childhood days, memories that Isabelle had hoped to forget, along with a darkened past that threatens to her present and future.

THE ARTISAN HEART is a slow building story line and thusly a slow building romance. Family secrets are revealed; the past is revisited; lies, manipulation and revenge threaten our story line couple. THE ARTISAN HEART is a predictable story of family, love, betrayal and vengeance. The colorful people of Walhalla mean well but tend to gossip and know everybody’s business. Hayden’s wife Bernadette is nothing short of bitchy and manipulative, eliciting neither sympathy nor tears for her behavior and end result. The premise is enjoyable; the romance is sweet and affectionate; the characters are broken, real and uncomplicated.

Second Chance At Two Love Lane by Kieran Kramer – a Review

Second Chance At Two Love Lane by Kieran Kramer – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
Sometimes love is waiting in the second act.

In her professional career, Ella Mancini plays matchmaker at Two Love Lane but, in her personal life, she takes the stage at the Dock Street Theatre. Now she has a chance at a new role in a Hollywood movie that happens to be filming in Charleston—one that features a big-name actress, Samantha Drake. Long ago, Ella passed up a major audition while awaiting a marriage proposal. Not only didn’t she get the role; she never got the ring, either. Instead, her boyfriend Hank went on to become a huge filmstar…leaving her, and all her dreams, behind.

But now Hank’s back in Charleston, cast as the male lead in the same movie Ella’s in. In spite of the dramatic tension off-screen, he and Ella try to stay cool onset. But when their old feelings start to heat up—at the same time leading-lady Samantha tries to play cupid—all bets are off. How can Hank convince Ella, after all this time, that she’s the one he really wants to be with in real life—and that some happy, rom-com endings really can come true?

Review:

Second Chance at Two Love Lane by Kieran Kramer is the 3rd book in her Two Love Lane series. Ella Mancini, our heroine, is a partner in a popular matchmaking agency called Two Love Lane, which covers everything from start to finish; finding the perfect match for the client, helping pick out the wedding dress, and the planning and preparation of the wedding event. She is partners with Macy, Greer (previous books heroines) & Miss Thing.

The start of the story flashes back to the Mancini family, as every year for her birthday, Ella’s father would take her to a Broadway show and dinner at Serendipity.  As she became a favorite at the restaurant, she also got to know the busboy, Hank Rogers, who would eventually become her boyfriend in college.  They lived together until Hank left to start his dream of a movie career.  Ella had planned to go in the same direction, but she did not want to leave Hank, so she decided to stay home and forego her plans for a movie career.  When Hank left, she was devastated, and decided to put all her time in becoming a partner in Two Love Lane and the matchmaking business.

10 years later, Ella is happy in Charleston with her friends, Macy, Greer, Miss Thing, and spending time with the Mancini family.  When she hears that Hank Rogers, now a famous movie star, is returning to Charleston for filming on a movie, Ella is determined to avoid him at all costs.

Hank has stayed away from Charleston, mainly due to his not wanting to run into Ella, whom he still harbors feelings for,  as well as guilt for leaving her.   But he decides to take the movie part, with the famous actress Samantha Drake, and find Ella and try to get some sort of closure.  Of course, despite their reluctance to see each other, fate has other plans.

What follows is a sweet second chance romance, between two people who have spent 10 years apart, and both still very much in love with each other.  It was a lot of fun to watch them slowly restore their connections, and the chemistry between them reheated. I really enjoyed the secondary characters, such as seeing Ella’s friends again, the crazy Mancini family, and others like Samantha, Pammy, Roberta, etc.

Second Chance at Two Love Lane was a nice sweet fun romance, a great couple and some good secondary characters.  Overall, it was an excellent story, which I suggest you should read, especially if you enjoy fun romances.

Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren – Review & Blog Tour

Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren – Review & Blog Tour

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / BAM / iBooks / Google /  Amazon UK / Amazon Aus

Description:
Hazel Camille Bradford knows she’s a lot to take—and frankly, most men aren’t up to the challenge. If her army of pets and thrill for the absurd don’t send them running, her lack of filter means she’ll say exactly the wrong thing in a delicate moment. Their loss. She’s a good soul in search of honest fun.

Josh Im has known Hazel since college, where her zany playfulness proved completely incompatible with his mellow restraint. From the first night they met—when she gracelessly threw up on his shoes—to when she sent him an unintelligible email while in a post-surgical haze, Josh has always thought of Hazel more as a spectacle than a peer. But now, ten years later, after a cheating girlfriend has turned his life upside down, going out with Hazel is a breath of fresh air.

Not that Josh and Hazel date. At least, not each other. Because setting each other up on progressively terrible double blind dates means there’s nothing between them…right?

Review:

Hazel declares four personality traits on page 1. They’re both enviable and quirky, bold to be sure, but to be all of those at once?! Powerhouse or powder keg? Josh has gleaned these qualities from afar, their interactions few and far between, but he intuitively steers away from Hazel’s chaos. This assessment was also college-induced. Years later, careers established, unexpected interpersonal connection, Josh and Hazel embark on the friendship of a lifetime. I just discovered Christina Lauren two months ago, Love and Other Words literally rearranged and found a lovely place in my Top 10 reads. Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating was infectious, full of life, and totally enchanting!

Hazel is an island unto herself. She’s exciting and engaging, honest and immensely thoughtful, a teacher who revels in expanding horizons and broadening meanings. It doesn’t necessarily make her endearing, several men find it exhilarating yet exhausting, and ask her to “turn it down”. But it’s this reappraisal that’s come with a price; a blow to her self-esteem. As a result, Hazel will not engage in reinventing herself to appease others. She is unapologetically unique.

“This is the perfect setup for boy-girl bestship: I’ve already been unbearable near you, which makes it impossible to scare you away.”

While Hazel might have come across as haphazardly zany once upon a time, Josh recognizes her innate goodness, and perhaps his own shortsightedness. Hazel’s insight breathes fresh air into his orderly life and perspective upon Josh’s long-suffering relationship. The dawning attracted the generally inhibited Josh to roam and explore outside the box.

I could go on and on about the growth and development of our MCs, the details, and even finer, more glorious details, of their ever-evolving feelings, but interestingly enough: they don’t want to date each other. Kismet, as its wont to be, decides to intensify their awareness AFTER they decide to be each others’ wing men. Bad dates turned out uneventful for both, hmmm… and “good” dates left them equally uneasy. Big mood. This symbiosis, though hardly surprising to the swooning reader, complicated matters and allowed for speculation of an all-encompassing love and future. Truly, their hearts were so engulfed by the other, they were adorably clueless. Christina Lauren nurtured the friendship to dazzling depths and it only served to deepen their devotion. There’s a fearless beauty in such resolve to appreciate, and wait, for their moment.

Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating reminded me of Jennifer Aniston and Ben Stiller’s characters from the movie, Along Came Polly. Two opposites collide and crash, disrupting each other’s comfort zones, only to transform into a life-affirming force. I loved this book and can assure you will undoubtedly feel its impact as well.

P.S. Christina Lauren, there IS something special about an ice cold PBR! Wish that I could share one with you! 😉

DON’T LOOK BACK
Unbroken Heroes #6
by Dawn Ryder
Genre: adult, contemporary, erotic, romantic, suspense
Release Date: August 28, 2018

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo / Google Play

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 28, 2018

In DON’T LOOK BACK by Dawn Ryer, she is the only woman worth fighting – or dying – for…

Shadow Ops Agent Thais Sinclair has sworn off falling in love for good. It’s what’s kept her calculated, steady, and on-task in a world dominated by men. She needs nothing and no one but her own wits and strength to guide her. But when she’s slated to shadow the one man who could reveal their entire operation, all bets are off.

Dunn Bateson, illegitimate son of a Southern debutante, has always had to fight harder than the rest to get what he wants. Now, the last thing he needs is Thais following his every move. She is so strong, sly, seductive. . . No woman has ever captivated him so completely. Thais may only have room for her mission in her heart, but is Dunn up to the challenge of showing her that she’s worth every risk he is willing to take?

•••••••••••••

REVIEW: DON’T LOOK BACK is the sixth (and final ?) instalment in Dawn Ryder’s contemporary, adult UNBROKEN HEROES erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for an elite Shadow Ops Team made up of ex-SEALs and other special forces warriors. This is reclusive British businessman Dunn Bateson, and Shadows Ops Agent Thais Sinclair’s story line. DON’T LOOK BACK should probably not be read as a stand alone; I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an on-going premise throughout the series.

Told from several third person perspectives including Dunn and Thais DON’T LOOK BACK is the culmination of six story lines focusing on the political atmosphere surrounding the US Federal elections. Dunn Bateson is the illegitimate son of a powerful woman running for office, a woman who has figured prominently in the upcoming elections for the US Congress, but it is Dunn’s attraction to Shadow Ops agent Thais Sinclair that finds our couple at odds with one another when Thais is assigned protection duty to the man that pushes all of her buttons. With the political campaign pushes into high gear, Miranda Delacroix continues to be targeted by the front-running opponent, an opponent who is not against using hired assassins and dupes in his bid for higher office. As the Shadow Ops team continues to ‘shadow’ Miss Delacroix, a more dark and sinister mind begins to unravel in his attempts to destroy them all. What ensues is the building romance between Thais and Dunn, and the fall-out as a series of attempts on the lives of the people they love finds the Shadow Ops team pulling out all the stops to serve and protect.

The relationship between Thais and Dunn is fraught with the palpable sexual attraction that does not go unnoticed by the Shadow Ops team, an attraction that is questioned by the people in charge. Both Dunn and Thais have been burned in the past- used by the people professing their love. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The world building follows several paths and several perspectives as the Shadow Ops team must work overtime to take down the man in question, a man whose need to win at all costs could very well cost them all of their lives.

Once again, similar to all of the previous story lines, the back and forth between numerous points of view is frenzied and disconcerting- the affect may be too erratic for some readers as the story line relentlessly and rapidly jumps between different perspectives without so much as a break or introduction. It can be confusing and unsettling from paragraph to paragraph, numerous times throughout each chapter, or within a single page, such that the reader may have to re-read the previous passages to follow the jump in perspectives.

DON’T LOOK BACK is a story of suspense, political intrigue, power and control. The premise is intriguing and action-packed; the characters are animated, dynamic and edgy; the romance is passionate and seductive. If you can look past the frantic change in perspectives, DON’T LOOK BACK is a fitting conclusion to Dawn Ryder’s UNBROKEN HEROES.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 28, 2018

A complete stand-alone story, TALL, DARK & IRRESISTIBLE is a fun, flirty swoon-worthy romance!

When it comes to love and happily ever after, Leo Stone is a disbeliever. Having been left at the altar by the one woman he thought he’d spend the rest of his life with, he’s vowed to keep his heart to himself and enjoy the one thing he knows won’t affect his emotions… hot, dirty sex. Except, what’s a guy to do when a gorgeous woman asks him to be her stand-in boyfriend for two weeks — with benefits? Sign him up, please!

A drunken night one year ago, Peyton Bishop used Leo Stone’s name and photograph to convince her overly-protective parents that she was safe living in New York City — in part thanks to a boyfriend she adored. Except Leo, the hot guy she’s had a secret crush on since college, has no idea he’s been cast in the role of her lover. With her cousin’s wedding coming up, and her parent’s expecting to meet this mysterious boyfriend, Peyton is forced to come clean and ask Leo a huge favor.

Leo agrees to be her stand-in boyfriend, but what’s a pretend couple to do when their fake feelings start to become oh-so-real?

•••••••••••

REVIEW:  TALL, DARK & IRRESISTIBLE is the second instalment in Erika Wilde’s contemporary, adult TALL DARK AND SEXY erotic, romance series. This is fashion designer Peyton Bishop, and business owner Leo Stone’s story line. TALL, DARK AND IRRESISTIBLE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Leo and Peyton) TALL, DARK & IRRESISTIBLE follows the fake-relationship between former college classmates fashion designer Peyton Bishop, and business owner Leo Stone. Upon graduation Peyton Bishop left her parent’s home in San Diego for the bright lights and independence of New York City but desperate to keep her parents happy Peyton lied about her personal relationships. For close to nine months our heroine faked an online relationship with former, college classmate Leo Stone, a man her parents were hoping to meet. With her cousins upcoming wedding Peyton makes Leo an offer he cannot refuse-one week, fake boyfriend to appease her parents sense of safety and love. What ensues is the quick building romance and relationship between Leo and Peyton, and the potential fall-out as Peyton returns to New York City while Leo must remain in San Diego.

Peyton Bishop has crushed on Leo Stone since their days together as lab partners. Believing Leo Stone would probably not recognize her, Peyton must come to terms with the possibility that the lies she told her parents will finally be revealed. Leo Stone lusted after Peyton Bishop but Leo’s previous relationship all but destroyed his heart. Left at the altar, Leo has sworn off relationships and the possibility of a happily ever after.

The relationship between Leo and Peyton is friends/acquaintances to lovers; a fake boyfriend/girlfriend arrangement meant to appease our heroine’s family. Years have not supressed Peyton’s attraction to our story line hero, and Leo’s attraction to Peyton is the same in return. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to Leo’s business partners and brothers Aiden (Daisy) and Dylan Stone, as well as Dylan’s plus one Serena ; Peyton’s long suffering and over-protective parents Tawny and Carson Bishop; and Leo’s mother Grace.

TALL, DARK & IRRESISTIBLE is a story of family, fun, secrets and lies. The premise is sexy and passionate; the characters are colorful and charismatic; the romance is flirty and intense. TALL, DARK & IRRESISTIBLE is another quick and light-hearted addition to Erika Wilde’s Tall, Dark & Sexy.

The two of them reached Leo’s vehicle, and the doors unlocked with a chirp as he pressed the key fob in his free hand. But instead of opening the passenger side for Peyton, he instead turned her around to face him . . . trapping her between the unyielding metal surface of the car behind her and the tall, muscular man standing less than two feet away.
He casually placed a hand on the door beside her and leaned a few inches closer. “Before we go, I have one more question for you,” he said, his tone serious.
She inhaled the warm, masculine scent of his cologne mingling with leather from his jacket and tried not to let that intoxicating fragrance distract her. “Okay.” She figured it couldn’t get any worse than everything she’d already admitted.
“So, usually, when a person gets propositioned, they get something out of the deal,” he said, his heavy-lidded gaze dropping to her mouth. “You’d be getting a devoted boyfriend out of the arrangement. What would I get?”
She didn’t miss the suggestion in his eyes or the playful curve of his smile. “What do you want?” she asked, unable to hide the breathless quality of her voice.
“Well, for starters, how about a show of good faith, like a kiss?” His free hand came up and gently cupped the side of her face, while his thumb skimmed along her damp bottom lip. “I think it’s important to know what I might be getting myself into and if we’re compatible enough to pull off this whole pretend boyfriend/girlfriend thing. I mean, what if we kiss and we realize that there’s just no spark there? Then this whole farce is doomed for failure.”
He was teasing her. She could see the mischievous glimmer in his eyes, and it provoked a smile from her, even as her breathing escalated with every second that passed with the temptation of finally having Leo’s lips pressed against hers dangling like a carrot in front of her.
“Then kiss me so we can find out,” she whispered.
His thumb dipped down beneath her chin to tip her head back as he lowered his mouth to hers. His lips were surprisingly soft as they found hers for the first time, his teeth gentle as they nibbled at her bottom lip. She couldn’t hold back the needy moan that escaped her throat, or the way her hands instinctively lifted and settled against his solid chest even as he pressed closer to her, his hard thighs and hips pinning her against the car.
“Jesus,” he breathed against her lips in shock, clearly feeling the heat between them that was a spark on the verge of becoming an undeniable blaze.
Sliding both of his hands into her hair, he held her head steady as he came back for another taste, and this time, there wasn’t an ounce of gentleness in the way he swept his tongue inside and plundered her mouth—boldly, deeply, greedily. She made a wild, desperate sound as she fisted her hands in his cotton T-shirt and matched him kiss for kiss, turning that blaze into an inferno that was so hot it threatened to singe them both. And in the moment, neither one of them seemed to care.
She felt the unmistakable ridge of his erection nudging against her belly, and a new hunger spiraled tighter inside her. Desire made her knees weak, her nipples excruciatingly hard, and her panties wet. Everything about Leo Stone was sensation overload to every part of her body, and if there was any worry in either of their minds about pulling off a believable attraction, this kiss eliminated any and all concerns.
By the time Leo finally lifted his mouth from hers, they were both breathing hard from all the heightened sexual tension between them. His dark eyes glittered with lust as he gazed down at her, looking as dazed as she felt.
Somehow, someway, she found her voice. “Was that convincing enough for you?” she asked huskily.
His low, sexy chuckle made her shiver. “Oh, yeah . . . it was definitely a good start.”

••••••••••

REVIEW: YOU PROMISED ME FOREVER is the first instalment in Monica Murphy’s contemporary, adult FOREVER YOURS erotic, romance series- a spin off from the author’s FRIENDS series. This is twenty –five year old, NFL star quarterback Jordan Tuttle, and PT assistant Amanda Winters’ story line. We were first introduced to Amanda and Jordan, high school sweethearts, in Monica Murphy’s young adult series FRIENDS. YOU PROMISED ME FOREVER fast -forwards the couple’s story approximately six years. There is a slight cross-over with the author’s One Week Girlfriend series with the mention of Drew Callahan. You do not have to have read the FRIENDS series to follow, but for back story and cohesion I recommend checking it out.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Amanda and Jordan) YOU PROMISED ME FOREVER focuses on the rekindling romance between twenty –five year old, NFL star quarterback Jordan Tuttle, and PT assistant Amanda Winters. Six years earlier Amanda Winters broke Jordan Tuttle’s heart by walking away without explanation or cause-a break up text that left our couple destroyed and floundering for years to come. Jordan’s college football life gave way to loneliness for Amanda, loneliness that pushed Amanda out of his life. Fast forward to present day wherein Jordan Tuttle is now an all-star quarterback in the NFL, and Amanda Winters works as a physio-therapist’s assistant. A recent television interview with Jordan revealed that he too, hadn’t stopped thinking about the ‘girl’ that got away, so our heroine decides to reconnect with the man that she still loves. What ensues is the rebuilding romance between Jordan and Amanda, and the potential fall-out as Amanda struggles with Jordan’s fame and the paparazzi nightmare.

Amanda Winters hasn’t stopped loving Jordan Tuttle but destroying his heart meant humiliation and potential grovelling for a second chance. Jordan knows that Amanda is the woman for his happily ever after but proving she is worthy takes a special kind of overture for his ‘pretty woman’.

The relationship between Jordan and Amanda is one of second chances with limited conflict or accusations; an emotional reunion fraught with sexual tension, and years of pent up pain and anger for our story line couple. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Amanda’s co-workers Cade and Lena whose friendship with Amanda falters in the face of Jordan’s return; Jordan’s best friend and fellow football player Cannon Whittaker; and Lady Susanna Sumner. I am hoping for a story line between Cannon and Susanna.

YOU PROMISED ME FOREVER is a story of friendship and love; second chances and romance; forever and a happily ever after. The premise is spicy and sweet; the romance is sexy and sassy; the characters are animated and enchanting.

Review:

Maybe for You by Nicole McLaughlin is the 3rd book in her wonderfully fun Whiskey and Weddings series.

Alexis (Alex) Parker, our heroine, is tough, sweet, independent, and very vulnerable, due to having a tragic year.  She is the sister of Dean (one of the Stag distillery owners & previous hero), who helped raise her after their parents died. We remember Alex when she was happily planning her wedding, until she tragically lost her fiancée.  Alex is determined to finish her military duties, accepting a year in Italy to help her get over her grief.

Jake Cooper, is one of the owners, and the marketing expert as well as the playboy of the group.  He does the promotion, and as he travels to sell their product, he is known for his womanizing ways.  Jake is a good guy, and he knows Alex is Dean’s sister, which means she is off limits, but a friendship builds as they become pen pals during her year away.

When the year is over, Alex returns home to her brother and friends, hoping to find a job.  No one is happy that she plans to take one far away, as they all care about her, including Jake.  Alex needs to be free, and asks Jake to take her when he goes on his next tour for the company sales.

What follows is a slow built romance between two people, who in many ways were so different.  Alex was still in her grief over losing her fiancée, and Jake was never interested in a permanent relationship, not to mention he needed to not become involved with Dean’s sister.    During their trip, they become even closer, with their attraction to each other making it difficult to not act on their feelings.  When they finally succumb to their lust, they both agree to enjoy their temporary fling. When they return home Jake knows he has fallen in love with Alex, and though she cares about him, she still lives with her guilt of betraying her fiancée, even if he is dead.  Things will take a turn when a surprise happens, which will eventually move toward their HEA.  I really did enjoy the epilogue.

Nicole McLaughlin did a beautiful job bringing both of them together; so well done, as I loved every moment.  It was great to see the previous book characters, who we loved, such as Dean, Charlotte, Jen and TJ.  Maybe For You was a fun, sweet, entertaining story, as well as emotional and heartwarming.  I loved Alex and Jake together, as their romance was fun and sexy, with their chemistry off the wall.   Whiskey and Weddings is an enjoyable and fun series that you should be reading.  I suggest you start with the first book, Maybe I Do.
