Description:
When Brooke’s older sister, Mindy, shows up at her door with her three kids in tow, she barely recognizes her sibling who looks like she’s on the verge of a total breakdown. While adventurous, wanderlust Brooke was always the problem child, eager to slip free of Wildstone and its small-town constraints, Mindy was the golden child, who never had a hair out of place or a GPA below 4.0. The Mindy that arrives at Brooke’s apartment however, is a far cry from the ever-perfect doctor’s wife.

Brooke’s further stunned when Mindy asks to trade places with her for a few days so she can pick up her pieces and put herself back together. What Mindy doesn’t realize is that Brooke is just as broken. Her sister needs her though, so Brooke takes the kids and returns to Wildstone.

But how does one go home after seven years away and what feels like a lifetime of secrets? It doesn’t take long for Brooke to come face-to-face with her past, in the form of one tall, dark, sexy mistake. But Garrett’s no longer interested, or so he says. Only his words don’t match his actions, leaving Brooke feeling things she long ago shoved deep.

The sisters begin to wonder if the childhood taunts were true, are they lemons in life? In love? True or not, they know one thing—you can’t run far enough to outpace your demons. And when long-dead secrets surface, they’ll have to overcome their differences and learn that sometimes the one person who can help you the most is the one you never thought to ask.

Review:

The Lemon Sisters by Jill Shalvis is the 3rd book in her Wildstone series.  I have read all the books in this series, and not only enjoyed them all, but if you have not read the previous books, The Lemon Sisters reads great as a standalone.   Once again, I love reading Jill Shalvis’s books, as she is one of the best at romances. The Lemon Sisters is about a family that has become broken, with secrets and heartache trying to heal and mend.

We meet Brooke Lemon, our heroine, who lives and works in LA.  After a late night, Brooke is woken up very early with banging on the door of her apartment.  To her shock, her visitor is her sister, Mindy, whom she has not seen in a few years; on top of that, Mindy has brought her three kids.  Brooke will find out that Mindy is at wits end, totally exhausted and just about having a nervous breakdown. To give her sister a break to rest, she offers to take the three kids back to Wildstone (which she has not been for 7 years) and take care of the kids for a few days, while Mindy will stay at Brooke’s place and rest and calm down.

When back at Wildstone, Brooke is determined to right some wrongs when she left years before.  Brooke had come off a major accident by a helicopter crash, and continues to have nightmares about it; which causes her PTSD in attempting to work as a photographer for onsite work, since she will not fly or do high heights. One of those that she wants to make amends is with Garrett Montgomery, her boyfriend at the time; whom she walked away from and left him with no explanation.

Garrett lives next door to Mindy’s house, and is very good friends with the family; almost immediately they come face to face with each other.  Brooke has not forgotten Garrett, and can sense her feelings for him are still there.  But Brooke hides how she is still broken, and does not want to resume anything with Garrett; she just wants to explain to him why she left.  While Mindy is enjoying her freedom living in Brooke’s fancy place, and her coworkers, Brooke is running around taking care of her kids.  The kids were wild and fun.  Garrett goes out of his way to help Brooke with everything, at the same time hiding his true feelings; as he does not want to get hurt again.

While Brooke and Garrett slowly deal with the past and the present, Mindy returns home after a week, and despite her break, is still having issues dealing with her everyday life.  Linc, her husband, is a workaholic, but he still loves Mindy. It will be Brooke, who can’t fix her own life, who will talk to Linc to find more time to help Mindy.  Personally, I was not really a fan of Mindy, though I understood her being buried with three active children, and other pressures, causing her to fall apart.  I felt that Mindy was a bit selfish staying away and leaving Brooke longer than anticipated, as well as assuming her husband was having an affair, which he wasn’t; Linc to me was pretty great.  The story for both couples would take work and willingness to change things.   Will Linc be able to change his work life to help Mindy?  Will Mindy learn to stop micromanaging and trust her family?  Will Brooke come to terms with her issues of the past and move forward with confidence?  Will Garrett allow himself to love Brooke again?

What follows is a heartwarming story about family and loves in different many ways. It is about getting beyond the hardships and allowing themselves to heal; to open up and move on and give themselves another chance to make amends.  I will say that I absolutely loved how the story ends.  The Lemon Sisters was very well written by Jill Shalvis.

REVIEW: I have been waiting for this book so hard!!!

The fourth book in the Love Without Limit series, was well worth the wait. Now the reason I wanted to read this book so much is because I’m a sucker for an Irish hottie, and let me tell you, it will not disappoint.

Ewan O’Brion is now the breadwinner and “father” to his younger siblings after his Mam has passed. Although he is up to the task, he is nervous and overwhelmed, after all, can take care of his family generational Bed and Breakfast AND his five wild siblings?

With an Aunt threatening to take the children from him, Ewan has decided to hire a Nanny to help him with their care, but she is not at all what he was expecting.

Wendy is way over her head, coming to Ireland has always been a dream of hers, but she was unprepared for the Lost Boys that come with her stay.

Quickly though, Wendy and Ewan spark a relationship that turns into something more. Something that may just last a lifetime…

This is a steamy, quick read that will leave your heart warm and a fire in your belly, a contemporary romance with a twist. From the Irish names and the deep Irish brogue you can almost hear as you read, you truly feel like you are a part of this red headed, rowdy family. I very much hope to see more in this series. If your a follower of these amazing authors like myself, get ready for another great one!

Ewan

“Ye’re a good man, Ewan,” my aunt Niav says. “But those boys need more than ye can give them. Ye’ve got enough on yer plate running this business.”
In a way, I know she’s right. The bed and breakfast that’s been in my family for three generations takes up most of my waking hours. I’m struggling just to keep it running. But I promised my mam that I would take care of my brothers.
“I’ve been taking care of them since before my mam passed,” I tell my aunt. “Nothing has changed.”
Except it has. I may be the oldest of seven boys, the head of the household since my dad left when I was sixteen, but it was my mam who kept the boys in check.
I glance out the window, seeing the twins Liam and Niall, playing football with the youngest, Bradan. The twins were only toddlers when my dad left us, and Bradan was still in my mam’s belly. I’m the only father figure the three of them have known.
Colin and Riley are teenagers, but they’re about as much help around here as the goats we keep in the back pen for milk.
And Carrick, the second oldest, well, he up and left to Australia a month after mam passed away. Not that I blame him, the responsibilities here are overwhelming, and there are days when I’ve thought about tossing in the towel myself.
I sigh and drag a hand through my hair, then turn back to my aunt. “I’ve hired a nanny. She’ll be here later today.”
“A nanny?” She grunts. “And where’d ye get the money for that?”
“It’s not yer concern.”
“It ‘tis, lad. Yer mam was my sister, and I promised her I’d watch over ye boys if anything ever happened to her.”
“I’m not a boy, Aunt Niav. I’m twenty-three.”
“Aye. But Bradan is only seven, and the twins just ten. I’ve called the school and they told me the trouble they’ve been getting into.”
“No more trouble than most boys their age.”
She clicks her tongue. “I don’t know why ye insist on making more work for yerself. If ye need hands around here, then Riley can stay. He’s sixteen now—”
“I’m not going to let ye separate them.”
“Ye might not have a choice, Ewan.”
Frustration and anger burn through me. I love my aunt, but even when my mam was alive, she was always sticking her nose in places it didn’t belong. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I didn’t want it to come to this, but since yer being as stubborn as yer father was, I’ve taken matters into my own hands. I’ve contacted the Child and Family Agency.”
“What is the matter with ye?”
She stands and pushes her chair back. “I could ask the same as ye, son—”
“I’m not yer son, and neither are those boys.”
“I’ll be in touch, Ewan.” She walks out the door, and it takes all my self-control not to put my fist through the kitchen wall. But I just put a new coat of paint on it and the last thing I need is to have to re-mud and paint it.
“Bloody, wicked, miserable bit—”
“Ewan?” Bradan is standing in the doorway, his dirty blond hair matted against his forehead, freckles indistinguishable from the dirt that’s smeared across his nose and cheeks. “Is it true?”
I sigh and glance over his head to where my aunt is talking to the twins on the front lawn. “Is what true?”
“We’re going to live with Aunt Niav?”
I could curse the woman for her interference. “Tell your brothers to come inside.”
He makes a face but turns and yells for them.
“Riley, Colin,” I call for the older two who are in the living room on their phones, playing games or talking to girls. Anything but helping out. “Come here, now.”
The kitchen isn’t large, and when all five boys pile in, the space feels crowded…and like home.
I can’t imagine not having them here. Sure, it would be a hell of a lot easier to not be worrying about homework and whether they bathed and brushed their teeth. But they’re my family, and there’s nothing in the world more important. My mam taught me that, even if my dad was a fool not to know it.
The twins start shoving each other before I have a chance to talk, and I pull them apart. “Both of ye, stop.”
“He pushed me first,” Liam says, glaring at his mirror image. Most people can’t tell them apart. They have the same red hair and green eyes, like my mam had. But Liam is a quarter of an inch taller, and he’s got more mischief in his crooked grin than Niall. But the two of them together are trouble with a capital T.
“What are ye hollering about?” Colin, the thirteen-year-old asks, pulling himself up on the counter, legs hanging over the edge.
“Naiv was just here,” I tell him. He’d been too busy playing on his phone to notice.
“Is she threatening to take us away again?” he asks, looking ready for a fight.
“Aye,” I answer honestly. “And this time she’s called the Child and Family Agency.”
“What does that mean?” Riley asks, leaning his long, lanky body against the doorframe. He’s shot up this past year, and at sixteen he almost matches my six foot two frame. Although I still have a good thirty pounds of muscle on him, and I’m still able to whoop his ass when needed.
Which after the stunt he pulled last night, sneaking out and stumbling in drunk at four in the morning, I should probably box his ears. But I figured the hangover he’s sporting today is good enough punishment.
“It means that ye all need to be on yer best behavior, especially when the nanny arrives.”
“But I don’t want a nanny,” Bradan says, sticking his bottom lip out.
“Would ye rather go live with your aunt Naiv?” I ask. “Because that’s where ye’ll all go if she can prove I’m not fit to take care of ye.”
“I’m sixteen,” Riley says. “She can’t make me go anywhere.”
“Ye’re right.” I nod. “But she can take the younger ones away.”
Bradan sniffs and I see the tears start to form in his eyes. I’ve never been good at sentimental bullshit. I was happy playing the man of the house, but I’m no good at this mothering shit.
I place a hand on Bradan’s shoulder. “No tears now. Everything’s going to be alright. But I need ye all to go clean yerselves up while I go to the airport.” I point at Riley. “And I’m going to need ye to check on the guests and start to prepare supper while I’m gone.”
There’s only one couple staying with us right now, so it’s not a lot to ask of the boy. I was doing twice the work when I was his age.
And look at all the things you missed out on. I shake away the thought. Sure, I had to grow up faster than most. Take on responsibilities that most grown men would scoff at. But looking around the kitchen at the five sets of eyes that look to me for answers, I wouldn’t have it any different.
Although truth be told, I wouldn’t mind a little help.
Which is why hiring this nanny is so important. It’s a three-month contract over the summer, with an American agency that I found online. Because the agency focuses on the experience of living abroad, the cost of hiring the woman is half of what I’d have to normally pay. And with trying to keep five growing boys fed, I need that extra money for the grocery bills.

* * *

Dublin airport is busy as always when I park outside arrivals. I glance at my phone, pulling up the email the agency sent me. I know that the woman’s name is Wendy Ferguson. She’s twenty-one, and from the small, blurry photo they sent me, she looks timid and more likely to have her nose stuck in a book than capable of dealing with five rowdy boys.
I glance at the photo again to help me pick the girl out in the crowd. Oversized glasses hide most of her face, and her hair is a mousy brown, with chunky bangs that make her look closer to Riley’s age than my own. The picture is too blurry to make out any other details, so I make a quick sign with her name on it on the back of a sheet of paper, and get out to wait.
I lean against my car and watch the people that come out of the airport, but none of them look like the photo of Wendy Ferguson. Especially not the pretty little brunette, with the curves of a goddess and the smile of an angel who walks toward me now.
Shit, the woman is gorgeous, with hazel eyes that look almost golden when the sun catches them. She lugs an enormous suitcase behind her, and from the tags, I can tell she’s American. Now this is a lass I wouldn’t mind taking home.
My cock twitches, reminding me that it’s been a long time since I’ve even kissed a woman. Too damn long. But with the business and the boys, I hardly have a moment to myself.
“Hello, lass,” I say when the beauty is standing in front of me, squinting at my homemade sign. “I wish that I was the one picking ye up, but I’m afraid I’m waiting on someone else.”
She gives a small frown. “You’re here to pick up Wendy Ferguson?”
“Aye.” I grin down at her. “But I’m afraid she’s not as fair as you.”
Her brows raise. “Really?”
I may not have much time for lasses these days, but the way she’s looking at me now, I know she’s interested. And what’s a little flirting going to hurt?
“Has anyone ever told ye that ye can see the sun in yer eyes?”
She laughs and the sound goes straight to my balls. “No. I don’t think I’ve ever received that compliment before.”
“Ye need a man who’ll tell ye everyday how beautiful ye are.”
She crosses her arms and stares up at me, a grin tugging at her lips. “And you think you could be that man?”
“I wish I were. But—”
“You’re waiting on Wendy Ferguson.”
“Aye.” I sigh, wishing I could spend more time with this woman, but knowing I should be scanning the crowd instead. I glance over the woman’s head and look around, but no one matches the girl’s picture.
When I look back, she’s getting into the passenger seat.
Confused, I run my fingers through my hair. “As much as it pains me to deny ye a ride, lass, I’m not a taxi service.”
She grins up at me. “But you are Ewan O’Brion, right?” I frown, a sinking feeling in my gut. “Aye, and ye are?”
“Wendy Ferguson.” She chuckles. “Your new nanny.”

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 1, 2019

All I want is to play hockey on the Ice Knights, instead, I’m in a viral video for all the wrong reasons and my mom—yes, my mom—has taken over my dating apps. Then, when I think it can’t get any worse, the fates deliver Zara Ambrose, a five-feet-nothing redhead with more freckles than inches and who’d rather be anywhere other than on a date with me.

Now a bet with her friends and my PR nightmare have us both stuck in this go-on-five-dates-with-the-same-person hell situation. But if we band together, we can get the whole thing over with and go on with our lives. It’s perfect! No feelings. No future. No fuc— *ahem* fun. No naked fun.

What could go wrong? Nothing—as long as I remember the rules. Don’t notice the way she looks in a dress. Don’t react when she does that little shivery sigh thing whenever we touch. Don’t think about the fact that she’s never had a toe-curling orgasm that wasn’t self-delivered and just how badly I want to change that.

Five dates—that’s it—and then we go our separate ways. At least, that was the plan.

•••••••••

REVIEW: Reading the review had me chuckling. It sounded like a right laugh …..

Caleb is in deep bother, it wasn’t really him, but he should have stopped it. His team mates were moaning about the team, the lack of female groupies “puck bunnies” and everything else. Someone posted it and it’s gone viral, and now people are lip reading and posting what they said. It’s a PR’s nightmare…… they need to limit the damage the team have done to the image. And Caleb is going to have to step up and create a new interest for the fans.

Zara makes models, she has a shop on Etsy, but she wants to create one off’s, and show her work in a gallery, so Zara needs publicity. When her friend puts her on a dating site, a drunk Zara thinks it’s a good idea. Until she meets her “date”……

Together they have to “survive” five dates, those dates are to be public and then will go online. Easy ……

Except there is a problem, Caleb finds the more time he spends with Zara, the more time he thinks of doing naughty and non public things with her, it’s not in the contract, but he really wants more. And Zara wants the publicity for her art work, but being around Caleb is bad for her libido, she wants Caleb, but wanting and having is two different things.

It’s a fun read, laughing at the hilarious predicaments they find themselves in. The characters are likeable, and the situation they find themselves is hilarious, the research the author put in was shown with great enthusiasm, I could almost see myself there.

“So why are you on Bramble?”

She took another small bite from her roll before answering. “My best friend is blackmailing me, and my dad wants a SAG card.”

That was definitely not the answer he’d been expecting. “And I thought my reasoning was twisted.”

“I’m sure it all makes sense in Gemma’s head,” Zara said. “She thinks I work too much and need to loosen up. She’ll let me be her plus-one to go meet a collector if I do the Bramble five dates thing. And my dad? Well, let’s just say he’s never met an unlikely plan he didn’t think he could pull off.”

All the possibilities this created sped around inside his head until one broke free like a perfect fast break late in the third period when the game was on the line. All he had to do was put the biscuit in the net.

“So neither of us really wants to be here,” he said. “We’re each other’s solution to getting back to our regular lives as soon as possible.”

It was fucking perfect. Petrov’s job with the team would be safe for another season—well, as safe as he could be, considering he didn’t have a no-trade deal in his contract.

Zara, though, didn’t seem to be seeing the genius of it, going by the suspicious look she gave him as she took another bite of her roll. Instead of giving him a straight-up no, though, she started eating. The words—okay, begging pleas—were bubbling up inside him but for once, he kept it in lockdown. He wasn’t about to rush this play, no matter how it had every nerve in his body jinglejangling.

Finally, she used her napkin to wipe the corners of her mouth, straightened her spine, and looked him dead in the eye. “We’d have to have ground rules.”

“Sure. Whatever you want.” Ice Knights season tickets? He’d make that happen. A photo op with her dad’s favorite player? Done. Whatever it took, he’d do it.

“This isn’t a real or fake relationship, it’s a temporary alliance,” she said without an ounce of humor in her tone. “I’m not pretending to be your girlfriend or the random chick you’re banging this week.”

“Agreed.” All of that sounded like it would cause more problems than it would solve anyway. “I’ve got a condition. Dressing up is not required. I’m not putting on a suit.”

The best thing about the off-season was not having to strangle himself with a tie multiple times a week just for a bus ride to the rink or a plane trip to another city. Coach Peppers was old-fashioned about doing things the original way.

“Fine.” Zara held up three fingers. “The third stipulation is that I’m not putting on a good attitude. If it’s been a crappy day, I don’t have to pretend to be a manic pixie dream girl.”

He snorted. “No one who’s met you would believe that. You’re a little salty.” That was putting it mildly based on her attitude when she showed up for their date.

“I have my reasons.” She added another finger, so she was holding up four. “Oh, and no making love. Sex?” She paused and looked him over quickly. “Maybe. Emotional, heartfelt, staring-each-other-in-the-eyes making love? Not gonna happen. No offense, but you’re not my type.”

What the hell? Not her type? He was a professional athlete making millions. He’d been led to believe he was everyone’s type.

“Not a problem, since I don’t think we could see eye to eye while having sex unless you magically grew a foot,” he said.

“You’re not into being creative?” Zara rolled her eyes. “I guess that’s expected for someone who has probably had women throwing themselves at him for years. You haven’t ever had to work for it.”

Caleb had no idea what to say to that. He’d been punched square in the face by the most feared goons in hockey and it hadn’t knocked him as senseless as this little five-foot-nothing of a snarky woman had done with a few choice words.

“I have one more rule,” she said, reaching for another roll. “Five dates and we’re done. Period. Do we have a deal?”

Description:
It’s not safe for anyone alone in the woods. There are predators that come out at night: critters and coyotes, snakes and wolves. But the woman in the red jacket has no choice. Not since the Crisis came, decimated the population, and sent those who survived fleeing into quarantine camps that serve as breeding grounds for death, destruction, and disease. She is just a woman trying not to get killed in a world that doesn’t look anything like the one she grew up in, the one that was perfectly sane and normal and boring until three months ago.

There are worse threats in the woods than the things that stalk their prey at night. Sometimes, there are men. Men with dark desires, weak wills, and evil intents. Men in uniform with classified information, deadly secrets, and unforgiving orders. And sometimes, just sometimes, there’s something worse than all of the horrible people and vicious beasts combined.

Red doesn’t like to think of herself as a killer, but she isn’t about to let herself get eaten up just because she is a woman alone in the woods…

Review:

The Girl in Red by Christina Henry is a Sci-Fi/Horror story that is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood in a Dystopian world.  Henry has written a number of novels of dark retellings of various fairy tales

Three months ago life was normal for Cordelia (Red), and her family, until a terrible Plague has decimated the world’s population.  When her mother starts getting sick, Red’s parents tell her to take her brother Adam and leave for a long trek to her grandmother’s house.  The storyline is in two POV’s; Before and After.  Red has a prosthetic leg (she lost her leg at 8 years old when hit by a car), which makes the walking slow; but she is tough and a survivor, not to mention she carries an ax with her.  She also has to put up with her brother’s constant nagging that they should not be walking so far, instead to go to the quarantine camps, which Red refuses, since more than likely they would die there.

What follows in a dark and intense story, where we follow Red during her adventure to reach her grandmother’s cabin.  Along the way there are many evils that might represent wolves, but in this world even darker; such as the cough which is the start of the plague and death; the evil men who look for woman and children; and the unknown horror (creature?) that is out there threatening the lives of others.  For Red its all about survival, and she has no qualms to use her ax or whatever to save herself.

The Before covers the beginning before she left, with her mother, father, as well as her trek with Adam.   The After is when she no longer has Adam, and takes upon the responsibility to help two very young children to come with her to her grandmother’s cabin. The daily gruesome trek is filled with horrible dangers, besides the normal dangers of the woods, such as snakes, coyotes, wolves, etc.

Christina Henry wrote an interesting and dark story that was intense, but well written.  I did not really like the open ended way the story left off.  Is there a 2nd book, I do not know, but I suspect there will not be, therefore leaving us a bit open.  If you like Dystopian Sci-Fi Horror retellings of fairy tales, you should be reading The Girl In Red.

Review:

How to Resist a Scandalous Rogue by Liana De La Rosa is a historical period romance. This story begins in London 1828.

Charlotte is recently widowed and penniless. Her husband died in India of cholera. His parents showed up in India and told her he had left her nothing. They took all his money and his possessions, and she was forced to gather what she could and managed to sell her wedding ring to book passage back to London.

Finlay is the Viscount of Firthwell and heir to the Earl of Rockhaven. His father is traveling the continent to avoid a scandal of his own making. While Finlay isn’t fond of his father, he has other problems. Rebuilding his father’s earldom and trying to build a better name for himself. He also has learned recently his mother had an affair and he’s not actually the Earl’s son, but no one else knows this. He found it in his mother’s diary after she died. His twin sister Alethea just married their childhood friend, Declan, Duke of Darington. He has also decided on a political career, if he can keep the scandal secret.

They meet one night by accident. She was offered a job by her cousin Eliza. Charlotte thought it was to be a maid, but the women were to be entertainment for the Earl of Belling’s party. She declined the job and was going to leave the house in the morning, but she wanted to just sit in the gardens for a little while. While she was there Finley, who was invited to the party, was escaping the activities and came into the garden. They struck up a conversation and talked for a long while, sharing a bit of whiskey from Finley’s flask. Enjoying herself and a bit in her cups, she stayed the night with Finley. However, happy and fulfilled as she was, she knew she couldn’t be a mistress, so she left without saying goodbye.

A year later, Finley learns Charlotte is working as a teacher at The Little Windmill House, a foundling home Lady Campbell and her brother founded. His sister had taught there until her marriage. Neither of them had managed to forget the other over the year. The attraction was strong.

That’s the basic setup. There is, of course, much more and interesting threads to the plot. But I will leave those for you to read for yourself. In all, this is a very interesting and romantic story. It’s cleverly plotted so things come together slowly with a lot of anticipation. If you are a fan of historical romances, this one has some interesting side threads about religious acceptance, the awakening of independent women, and the times. I enjoyed reading it, hope you do too.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 18, 2019

“I know it’s wrong to watch her like this, but she’s a temptation I can’t resist. She’s performing for another man, but I feel like it’s all for me. Like she’s mine.”

Nine lives.
Nine inches.
One chance to make her his.
Preppy’s brother is about to live up to the family legacy in more ways than one.

••••••••••

REVIEW: NINE: The Tale of Kevin Clearwater is the ninth instalment in T. M. Frazier’s contemporary, adult KING erotic, MC, romance story line. This is twenty-one year old, Kevin ‘Nine’ Clearwater, and former real estate agent Lenore ‘Lenny’ ‘Poe’ Leary’s story line. NINE: The Tale of Kevin Clearwater can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory, history and cohesion. Kevin ‘Nine’ Clearwater is Samuel ‘Preppy’ Clearwater’s brother.

WARNING: There may be some triggers for more sensitive readers due to the nature of the story line content.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Lenny and Nine) using present day and memories from the past NINE: The Tale of Kevin Clearwater follows the building relationship between Kevin ‘Nine’ Clearwater, and former real estate agent Lenore ‘Lenny’ ‘Poe’ Leary. Four years earlier Kevin Clearwater met a stranger, a young woman he called Poe, but a woman whose life was spiralling out of control. Fast forward to present day wherein Nine will come face to face with his past, the woman he long thought gone from this world, but a woman caught up in a scam she knew nothing about. What ensues is the building relationship between Nine and Lenny, and the potential fall-out as Lenny’s past comes looking for revenge.

NINE: The Tale of Kevin Clearwater is a story of betrayal, vengeance, secrets and lies; a story of love, loss, and second chances; a story of abuse and neglect; of seduction, romance and hope. NINE reveals the brutal past of Kevin Clearwater and the life he left behind but will never forget. Lenny is a woman who has lost everything and more; defenceless in the face of accusations and threats against her life, our heroine’s only hope is the man everyone knows as Nine.

The relationship between Lenny and Nine is a second chance, of sorts: a rekindling friendship between two troubled and lost souls who met under questionable circumstances but have never stopped thinking about the who, how and why. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters, familiar if you are a fan of the author’s KING series. The friendship and camaraderie forged between Preppy, King, Bear and Ray is revealing, including their unquestionable need to protect and defend.

NINE: The Tale of Kevin Clearwater is an edgy, dark, and gritty story line; a raw and emotional look at betrayal and revenge. The premise is dramatic and intense; the romance is sensual and seductive; the characters are familiar, energetic and tragic.

I look up into his dark eyes. “This is a dangerous game of cat and mouse we’re playing.”

“More like a game of cat and bird,” he corrects.

I straighten my posture, my nipples grazing his hard chest. “And we all know how that turns out in the end. The cat eats the bird.”

Nine lightly scrapes his nails over my bare arms before pressing them into my skin. I gasp at the slight bite of pain. “No, the pretty bird swoops down from nowhere and sinks her sharp talons into the cat, marking him for life.”

There’s no sarcasm in his voice. I don’t know how to begin to process what it is he’s saying. It takes all of my concentration to get out my next few words.

“And…and then what?”

Nine picks me up off the floor in one quick motion, flipping me back onto the bed. He crawls over my body, hovering above me, pinning my wrists to the mattress. He grazes his teeth over the sensitive spot behind my ear.  He lowers his voice to a deliciously deep rumble that has me vibrating with his every word.

“And then he eats her.”

T.M. (Tracey Marie) Frazier never dreamed that a single person would ever read a word she wrote when she published her first book. Now, she is a five-time USA Today bestselling author and her books have been translated into numerous languages and published all around the world.

T.M. enjoys writing what she calls sexy‘wrongside of the tracks romance’ with morally corrupt anti-heroes and ballsy heroines.

Her books have been described as raw, dark and gritty. Basically, what that means, is while some authors are great at describing a flower as it blooms, T.M. is better at describing it in the final stages of decay.

She loves meeting her readers, but if you see her at an event please don’t pinch her because she’s not ready to wake up from this amazing dream.

So is a killer who’s putting their love—and their lives—on the line.

•••••••••••••

REVIEW: HER OTHER SECRET by HelenKay Dimon is a contemporary, adult story of romantic suspense focusing on  twenty-six year old, manual and guide creator Tessa Jenkins, and handyman Hansen Rye.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Tessa and Hansen) HER OTHER SECRET follows in the wake of a murder on Whitaker Island. The residents of Whitaker Island all have secrets: from political scandals to murders, blackmail to affairs, Whitaker Island is the island of misfit toys. When a well-dressed man mysteriously walks out of the water, only to be found murdered the very next day, all suspicions fall onto our leading hero when he reveals his connection to the people involved. From a badly beaten woman to the murder of the town’s most likable old man, Whitaker Island’s secrets are about to be revealed. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Tessa and Hansen, and the fall-out as our couple find themselves on the receiving end of more attention and accusations than they could have imagined.

Like most of the residents, Hansen Rye moved to Whitaker Island to get away from his past, a past that has now drawn the attention of law enforcement and the political elite. Tessa Jenkins knows what it is like to keep her own dark and dangerous secrets but with the continuing drama, our couple’s individual pasts are about to be exposed.

The relationship between Tessa and Hansen is one of immediate attraction but neither one is in a place for romance or love. When the local ‘law enforcement’ has eyes for our heroine, Hansen steps up to claim Tessa as his own. As one another’s alibis for the on-going investigation, our couple find themselves the target of island gossip, innuendo and talk. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including many local island residents. We are introduced to the island’s lawman, thirty-four year old, former military MP Ben Clifford; council member and island ‘queen’ Ruthie Totttenridge, and her son Doug; lodge owner Sylvia Sussex; vacationers and busy bodies Ellis and Arianna Wells; old man Cliff; brother/sister duo Allen Bernard and Kerrie Ross; as well as Tessa’s father senator Charles Michaelson. I am hoping the author has plans for future stories involving the island residents.

HER OTHER SECRET is a story of power, betrayal, greed and murder; a story of secrets and lies; of romance and love. The premise is entertaining and intriguing; the romance is steamy and hot; the characters are eclectic, charismatic and energetic. HER OTHER SECRET is a thrilling and edgy ride into the world of romantic suspense.
