Description:
She isn’t supposed to fall in love with him… He’s one of the aliens who invaded Earth.

Harper King is like most humans—she works hard at her job and does her best not to think too much about the Krinar.

The mysterious aliens took over her planet five years ago, and since then, rumors have surrounded them… whispers of super strength and speed, incredible beauty, and advanced technology.

Harper should hate them, since her parents died the day they invaded, but something about the infamous Krinar fascinates her.

Little does she know that the sinfully gorgeous drifter who rescues her from a bar fight will give her the close encounter she’s always dreamed of.

Sef is supposed to be infiltrating a human resistance group, not seducing sweet little human females. But from the moment he sets eyes on Harper, he knows he must have her and will do anything to possess her. Using his human disguise, he lures Harper into his arms and his bed. When it’s far too late for her to escape him, he reveals that he’s a Krinar, one of the powerful and terrifying aliens she’s always wanted to meet.

He gives her a choice: to save her brothers, she must give herself to him—heart, body, and soul.

Will she choose her dark, seductive alien lover to save her family? Or will she resist the secret desires of her own heart in order to be free?

Review:

The Krinar Code by Emma Castle continues The Krinar World series. We first meet Sef in The Krinar Eclipse (he’s Soren’s twin brother) he’s been altered to look more human, he’s been assigned to find, infiltrate and eliminate any resistance fighters that he comes across. But what he finds instead, is a beautiful thing woman on the wrong side of a human males fist!!!

Tending to her, he realises he may have just found a new toy!!! Krinar are rarely monogamous, but after seeing his brother happy with his “charl” that’s beloved or soulmate in his language, Sef wonders if it’s a one off.

Harper is a hard working human. By day she works in a garage as the mechanic, and in the evenings she works in the bar adjoined to the garage. The bar belongs to her family (her brothers usually run it) she helps out when she can, or when the brothers need her to fill in. Her brothers are resistant fighters. They have been ever since first contact was made, there were pockets of fighting, but no one is a match for the Krinar.

After saving Harper from a bar full of angry men, he tends to her bruised face. He’s annoyed that she doesn’t have protection. But seducing this tasty human shouldn’t be his priority, he needs to finds the resistance fighters in this area. But one taste won’t hurt, will it?

Finding out Seth is in fact a dreaded and feared Krinar, and it’s Sef both Seth is bad enough, but when he tells Harper that he knows her brothers are part of the resistance fighters, they will be found and they will be ended!!!! But he’s willing to negotiate…… be his for as long as he wants her, no resistance, her body is to be his and his alone, then he will forget he’s seen her brothers.

Harper likes Sef, but to be forced…. her choice has been taken away, so it becomes a battle of wills, he may have her body ….. but her heart and soul!!! Never!!!!

Again it’s a short story from the author. (Same author just another Pen name) We get a little more information on both the resistance and the Krinar people. They think they are entitled to this planet, they find the resistance an irritation, but it’s growing, so things must be done. Enter our hero (another arrogant Krinar) Sef. (Twin to Soren)

I liked Harper, her dyslexia was handled well (too many authors can come across as unfeeling or condescending) she loved her family and there wasn’t nothing she wouldn’t do to save them.

We get a little more on the Krinar people. Cramming a lot of information into a novella is always difficult, how much to add, add too much and it just seemed jumbled. Could it be made longer? I think so, there was so much more we could have heard about. I like this world, and I’ll have to come back and visit it soon?

Beauty and the Beast? Nah…this isn’t some sweet fairy tale. FIGHTING FOR HER is about danger, action, and a whole lot of hot romance.

He’s been called a beast…and he likes the title.

Rick Williams is big, bad, and not someone you want to have as an enemy. As an agent with Wilde Securities, his job is to kick butt and take names. Protecting and defending—that’s part of his package deal, but his cases don’t usually involve him protecting someone like her.

A crime princess with a body made for the sweetest sin.

Kathleen O’Shaughnessy is the daughter of an infamous mob boss. Her father made sure that she was locked away from the world so Kat didn’t exactly have easy street growing up. Now that her father is dead, she’s suddenly out on her own—and she’s the target of every enemy that her father made in his very long career.

Keep the princess alive. Keep his hands off her.

The government wants to use Kat as a witness to take down what’s left of her father’s organization. To do that, though, Kat has to stay alive. She’s not big into the whole witness protection scene. Boring guys in cheap suits aren’t her thing. Kat needs protection that’s a bit…Wilder. Good thing Rick is up for the challenge. One look at Kat, and her protection—and her pleasure—are at the top of his to-do list.

It’s not the beast that needs taming. It’s the princess.

There are seven days until the trial. Seven days in which Rick has to keep Kat at his side day and night. It should be an easy enough task…but when the bullets start flying and they have to go on the run, Rick finds out that the protected “princess” isn’t who he thought. Kat is about to wreck his world, and it’s gonna be one heck of a wild battle.

He’ll do whatever it takes…

He’ll fight hard and he’ll fight dirty to keep her alive. And he’ll also fight with every bit of his strength to win Kat’s heart. The beast is falling hard and fast…and his princess holds his battered heart in the palm of her hand.

REVIEW: FIGHTING FOR HER is the fifth instalment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult WILDE WAYS romantic, suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Wilde Securities. This is Wilde Securities Agent Rick Williams, and mafia princess Kathleen ‘Kat’ O’Shaughnessy’s story line. FIGHTING FOR HER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty . Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from several third person perspectives including Rick and Kat FIGHTING FOR HER follows the protection and guardianship of Mafia princess Kathleen ‘Kat’ O’Shaughnessy. With her father’s dead, Kat O’Shaughnessy is set to testify against the mob but first there is the question as to the whereabouts of close to twenty million dollars. With a price tag on her head, Kat has been under the protection of the FBI but Kat’s numerous escapes finds her protection handed over to Wilde Securities. Enter Rick Williams, the man with whom Kat will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Rick and Kat, and the potential fall-out as several attempts against Kat’s life force our couple on the run.

Kat O’Shaughnessy has no idea as to where her father’s money has disappeared but someone or someone(s) are desperate to end our heroine’s life or at the very least uncover the whereabouts of twenty million dollars. Often times TSTL (too stupid to live) Kat struggles with the protection assigned to keep her safe. Falling for Rick Williams means placing the man in the direct line of fire, a man with whom Kat is secretly in love. Rick Williams doesn’t do relationships especially a relationship that can compromise his contract with Wilde Securities but several attempts against Rick and Kat’s life force Rick to stay close to our storyline heroine.

The relationship between Rick and Kat is one of immediate attraction but their personalities clash from the start. Rick views Kat as a spoiled Mafia princess, not knowing the extent to which Kat has suffered at the hands of the mob. Constantly on the run as their locations are compromised Rick and Kat fall towards their own happily ever after. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Wilde Securities boss Eric Wilde; Wilde Security specialist Cole Vincent; FBI agents Bryan Brisk, Tom Wayne; Detective Layla Lopez; defense attorney Kendrick Shaw; and assassin James ‘Ghost’ Smith. The requisite evil has many faces but not everyone is who they appear to be.

FIGHTING FOR HER is a well written story of money, power and control; of betrayal, greed and vengeance; of falling in love and happily ever after. The premise is energetic, fast paced and intriguing; the romance is seductive and captivating; the characters are dynamic and charismatic.

The Krinar are powerful, attractive, but also mysterious. There is one in particular she can’t get out of her head—the seductive Krinar Ambassador named Soren. With his hauntingly beautiful eyes and god-like body, he invades her dreams, spinning sensual encounters that leave her aching and breathless. But he, like the others of his kind, is dangerous. With impossible speed and strength, wielding incredible intelligence and advanced technology, the Krinar control this planet and every human on it. Bianca should want nothing to do with Soren. A single touch from him might cause an interstellar war. But after one scorching, forbidden kiss, she’ll risk everything to be with him.

Soren came to Earth to ensure the survival of his people, but now he has one desire: to possess the brave and irresistible Bianca. Knowing he could destroy peaceful relations with the humans if anyone sees him with her, he takes matters into his own hands, rescuing her from an assassin. But her new life as Soren’s woman puts a target on her back, and her status as First Daughter only makes things worse. As enemies surface all around them, Bianca realizes she will have to trust Soren with her heart, even if it means giving up her freedom.

Review:

The Krinar Eclipse by Lauren Smith is a new series for me, so I opened up the kindle and jumped in …..

Bianca is the presidents daughter, and Instead of celebrating her birthday with a car, she’s being told by her father that they are being “invaded”, at first Bianca thinks it’s all a joke, until a being enters the room, without using the door!!!!

The Krinar are here, and they aren’t going anywhere …….

We jump five years the Krinar have total control of the planet…..

Ambassador Soren has watched this planet for a very long time. And when it was time for his people to act, Soren was one of the first aliens to make contact. They were more powerful than any of the humans, it wasn’t going to take much effort to subdue them. This planet had so much to offer, and so the Krinar decide to take it back ……

Thousands of years ago, the Krinar had tinkered with the lifeforms on Earth. They mixed the original DNA with Krinar DNA, so technically we are part alien!!

Bianca can’t believe it, Soren is back in her dreams and now her life. Why won’t he look at her in that cold clinical way he did five years ago? Why is he looking at her in a hot and naughty way? They know they shouldn’t be together (but that doesn’t stop her from dreaming about him) and if it does, then wars will break out. Is it really worth it? He’s gorgeous, but women are just playthings to the Krinar.

In all of his 8,000 years of living, no one has stirred him as much as Bianca does, he fools himself into thinking he’s keeping an eye on her (she is the presidents daughter after all) to keep her safe from the resistance (they target sympathisers) But ever since he met her five years ago, he’s thought of her at odd moments, and now he has to interact with her again. He’s not sure if he can resist the young lady she has become. He’d wants nothing more than to sink into her body and her blood. But to do so would break the treaty and start a war that would possibly destroy this fragile planet.

So do Soren and Bianca risk war? Will she be able to walk away when he is done with her? Will he be able to give her up? And what about the resistance fighters? Will they be able to drive the Krinar off this planet?

Being just a novella, there is a lot packed into this story. Could it have been longer? Yes, it could’ve easily been a novel. A few things needed fleshing out, but being a short story, some of those things had to be sacrificed. I found it easy to dislike Soren (he came across as arrogant at first) and to roll my eyes at Bianca. But in the end….. I liked the book.

Apparently this is an ongoing world where other authors contribute. I haven’t read any of the other books. It was a different approach (earth being manipulated thousands of years ago, to host a new life form) and I liked the idea.

Catching Her Heart by Jody Holford – a Review

Catching Her Heart by Jody Holford – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / BAM / Book Depository / Google Play / Apple

Description:
When a beautiful brunette driver meets Nashville Slammers catcher, Sawyer McBain, at the airport, he figures it’s his lucky day. Sure, he’s usually pretty guarded around people, especially after what happened with his ex, but he can definitely enjoy the car ride. Until she passes his apartment…and keeps driving. All of a sudden the woman seems a lot less like romance material and a lot more like a kidnapper. What gives?

Slammers executive Addison Carlisle needs one little favor. Sure, she may have kinda maybe kidnapped one of her professional baseball players, but it’s for a really good cause. She desperately needs someone high-profile to auction off that night for the multiple sclerosis society she’s chairing, but he insists he wants a favor in return.

Soon Addie and Sawyer are trading completely ridiculous I.O.U.s, like being his plus-one to his grandmother’s poker game or keeping each other company at the driving range. But when their agreement goes from flirty to fiery, neither is ready to let their guard down for a shot at love.

Review:

Catching Her Heart by Jody Holford is the 2nd book in her Love of the Game series.  A first time reader of Ms. Holford and I was pleasantly surprised with how much I really enjoyed this.

I love baseball, and I really love sports romance, and this one has it all. At first it was a little confusing, trying to figure out the plot to the story, but once you get into; it’s like any other really good book. You can’t put it down until it’s finished.

Sawyer is the catcher for a MLB teamed based out of Nashville and is the best in the business. Now when you think baseball player, you think smiles, happy and ready to have fun. Well Sawyer is none of those things, he is quiet, mean mugged and cranky.

Enter Addie, the woman to see him for more than his flaws and money. Addie with her soft smile, loving personality and the hope for a better future.

All in all this was such a happy read, I would love to see more of her work.

After an early night, I wake in the morning with my body sagging into the ground. “What the hell?”
I roll and flail, my air mattress squeaking like a little bitch.
Bear laughs and I turn. He’s watching me, thoroughly amused. “I’m not here for your entertainment,” I hiss, my back aching from an uncomfortable sleep.
“Someone needs her coffee.”
“Did you poke a hole in my mattress?”
“No, but there’s something poking a hole in my—”
“For the love of god!” I rise up, the knife from beneath my pillow in hand. “I’m gonna stab yours just for that.”
“No!” He laughs, half-rising from his own bed, warding me off with his massive paws. “That damn thing is probably why you woke up on the ground.”
I lunge across the tent, my knife jabbing straight into his inflatable mattress. It tears a long, deep gash in the corner. Air hisses out in a wheezy rush. “What in the actual fuck?” he shouts, falling back with a stunned laugh. “You’re such a bitch!”
The knife drops from my hand, and I double over, gasping with laughter while the airbed deflates around him, sinking him slowly to the ground.
“Now neither of us have a bed!”
“Oh well.” I tuck my knife away. “We can start on those bottles of red tonight until we can’t feel a damn thing, and then it won’t matter.”
I unzip the tent and step out, my jaw cracking from a yawn that stretches my face. “Bring me coffee!” he orders from inside the tent.
I turn my head, sneaking a glance his way. He’s standing over his duffel bag, clad in nothing but a tight pair of bright blue cotton boxer-briefs. It’s almost a physical punch. I linger a moment before I look away, back to the ocean, trying to dispel the image, but my mind won’t let it go. The wide, muscled shoulders, his tattooed arms, the thick washboard abs, his body scarred from combat and a lifetime of hard and heavy training.
I shiver with a sense of longing and have to remind myself that it’s just Bear as I start on the coffee. The same Bear who laughed his ass off when I tripped on the edge of the jetty in Broome and fell in the water. The one who snores like a freight train after one too many beers. The one slowly turning into a mountain man because he hasn’t shaved since we left. The very same Bear who tips his head back each night in his camp chair and makes me scratch his head with my nails while he sits there and whimpers like a little girl.

MARCO

I have loved Rosa since I met her in high school English, even though the odds have always been stacked against us. She is the child of criminals, resigned to a bleak future. I’m the heir to a successful construction company and am not afraid to go after what I want.

And I want Rosa. Always and forever.

ROSA

I broke the law to make sure Marco got custody of our daughter, and I paid the price. But now that I’m out of jail, I’m terrified my ugly past might bleed into our daughter’s future.

The only way to ensure that doesn’t happen is staying far away from both of them.

But Marco isn’t letting me run from him. Not again.

REVIEW: NEED YOU NOW is the fourth instalment in Molly O’Keefe’s contemporary, new adult THE DEBT erotic, romance series focusing on a group of former teens thrown together in the foster care/juvenile system of San Francisco,California-Tommy, Beth, Simon, Rosa and Carissa. This is Rosa and Marco’s second chance story line.

Told from three first person points of view (Marco, Rosa, Bates) using present day and memories from the past, NEED YOU NOW follows the rebuilding relationship between waitress Rosa, and single father Marco. Approximately four years earlier, while in the foster care system, horrific acts of violence are perpetrated on five young souls-Tommy, Beth, Simon, Rosa and Carissa- who will be beaten and broken for any number of offenses deemed inappropriate or wrong. These five ‘young offenders’ destroyed by a sexually and physically abusive foster family, will discover that freedom came at a cost- all debts must be repaid; anytime, anywhere, without question or fail.

Rosa and Marco were in love but life for Rosa and the others was a nightmare in the foster care system. Raised by an abusive and racist father, Rosa landed in the system, only to face more abuse as time went on. Falling in love with Marco meant a chance at happiness but a pregnant Rosa would take matters into her own hands when the attacks against her ‘foster siblings’ dealt its final blow. On the run, having no idea about the death and destruction back home, Rosa would steal a car, ensuring the man she loved, would get custody of their new born daughter. Fast forward four years wherein Rosa has been released from prison, but struggles to reintegrate with the man that she loved, and the daughter she never knew. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Marco and Rosa, and the potential fall-out as the man who holds the IOUs comes looking to help our story line heroine.

Rosa never knew what happened the night she decided to make her move. Having stolen the keys to free her friends, Rosa would walk away only to find herself in prison for stealing a car. While her friends would discover their freedom came at a cost, Rosa never knew freedom, just the loss of her daughter and friends. Rosa had promised Marco she would come looking for them upon her release but trouble back home with her brother and father, meant Rosa was unable to face the people she loved without brining danger and death to their front door. Marco had never stopped loving the mother of his child but Rosa refused to move back into their lives. Hoping against odds that Rosa wanted to be part of their lives, Marco goes in search of Rosa, offering a second chance.

All of the Rosa’s foster care siblings play secondary and supporting roles. The man who holds the ‘debts’ against the former friends makes Rosa an offer but Rosa isn’t willing to sell her soul for a few thousand dollars, a soul that was already damaged beyond repair.

NEED YOU NOW is a story of betrayal, vengeance, and abuse; of second chances and retribution; of family, friendship and love. A little darker than the previous instalments NEED YOU NOW continues to focus on the hellish life of five friends whose second chances come at a cost. The premise is edgy and raw; the characters are broken, colourful and determined; the romance struggles in the face of desperation, guilt and love.

He looked at me across the room and slowly shook his head. “I don’t want to love you,” he said.
“I know.”
“Half the time I hate you.”
“I know.”
He looked away from me, his hands in fists, and I could feel the tension across the room, the fragile control he had on himself. How he was barely holding on. And I knew that he would never hurt me. The thing he was trying to stop himself from doing was touch me.
“I’m leaving,” he said and crossed the room in three angry steps. Everything in me told me to get out of the way. To let him go. But I didn’t. I stood right in front of the door in my gold vest and hot pants.
His face was flushed. “Get out of my way,” he said, and my mouth was full, my throat closed, and I shook my head. “Don’t make me,” he said. “Don’t make me touch you.”
It was exactly what I was doing, because I would take his touch any way I could get it.
“Fuck, Rosa,” he groaned. “Fuck you.”
And he put his hands around my arms and pulled me up and into his body so my breasts touched his chest, and between my legs I felt the hard pressure of him. I gasped and he turned. I expected him to let me go. I expected him to shove me away but he didn’t. Oh god, he didn’t. He lifted me off my feet and took two steps forward, pushing me against the wall. Not gently. But not rough. And then he leaned against me, his entire body against mine. And I was electrified. Every inch of my skin burned where it touched his.
I burned so hot I burned right through all the years. All the pain fell away and it was just us. Marco and me and the desire so pure it kept changing the course of both our lives.
He held himself so still, so carefully, and he was going to walk away. I knew he was. He would walk away and this moment would never happen again.
“Please,” I begged, because it was all I had left. No more pride. No more distance. I was only need.

Fast forward to present day wherein Logan is called to Bliss Colorado, the scene of untold horror and pain for our storyline hero. With no place to stay, Logan finds himself face to face with Georgia and Seth, who are in Bliss to work, or so Georgia has been told. What ensues is the rebuilding friendship and relationship between Logan, Seth and Georgia, and the potential fall-out as Seth and Georgia become collateral damage for sins of the past.

Logan Green and Seth Stark have been best friends for most of their life but the abuse Logan suffered at the hands of the mob broke Logan Green both inside and out. Seth Stark was desperate to reconnect with his best friend, and loving Georgia Dawson would definitely bring Logan back into the fold but Georgia believes Logan wants nothing to do with her since the day Logan rejected our story line heroine.

The relationship between Logan and Seth is a lifelong friendship that have been damaged by Logan’s inability to move on from the past. Seth hired Georgia as his business PA, and in an effort to reconnect with his best friend, Seth offers up a ménage relationship with the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Henry Flanders and Nell Finn (Once Upon a Time in Bliss #8) as well as Logan’s two mothers Marie and Teeny, Dr. Caleb Burke, Georgia’s brothers Ben, Chase, Mark, Dare and Winter,; James, Noah and Hope; Cam,Callie and Sheriff Nathan Wright; and psychiatrist Leo Meyer.

BACK ON BLISS is a story of heartbreak, betrayal, vengeance and love; of a rekindling friendships, and a happily ever after. The premise is raw and gritty; the romance is seductive and passionate; the characters are charismatic, broken but on the mend. BACK IN BLISS is an angsty, spicy and intriguing story of second chances.

“Holy shit.” Logan practically beamed at the thing that looked like it could eat her. “Seth! Seth, get in here!”
He went to the door and yelled for Seth again.
Seth ran in, his eyes wide and his body covered only in a towel. A little towel. A tiny white towel that contrasted with his tan skin and had been wrapped over ridiculously muscled hips. He had those notches, the ones she’d always been sure some artist Photoshopped onto male models because no one could be that perfect. His dark hair was wet, curling above his shoulders. Moisture clung to his every muscle and, holy hell, he had a lot of them. They hid underneath his perfectly tailored suits.
Georgia forgot about the crazy-ass creature that had come straight out of some danger-in-the-wild documentary and watched the two gorgeous predators who had invaded her room.
She pulled the covers up to her neck, aware that she didn’t look anything like they did.
“Maurice.” Seth took a step forward. “Wow. How the hell long do moose live, man? It’s totally Maurice. You can see where Hiram tried to take him down. There’s a scar on his nose.”
Logan moved in, too, and she could see the easy way the two men related. For a moment she saw the kids they had been, friends forever. God, she’d never had a friend like that.
Logan opened the window and she heard a loud chuffing noise. “He kicked Hiram in the groin. It was a damn lucky thing the man already had three kids because I heard nothing worked the same after. Hey, boy. You remember me?”
Another huff and she was about to believe the thing knew how to communicate.
Seth looked over at her, his eyes glinting. “We don’t get a ton of moose around here. Maurice is a legend. The people of Bliss say that if he shows up at your place, you’re blessed. Meant to be here. He’s the welcoming committee.”
Logan laughed. “What no one will tell you is he’s a total snack whore. If you leave a Snickers bar on the porch, he will show up lickety-split. When Laura finally got comfy, I snuck some chocolate onto her porch so she would feel welcome.”
“I’m glad she stayed. I heard she got married,” Seth said.
Logan nodded. “Got a kid now. That’s why I’m here. Her husbands need some paternity leave. I heard it’s a girl.”
Their shared history was right there, a palpable thing between them. It was almost as though she could reach out and touch it, feel the warmth of it. Logan and Seth felt like a family.
What was she doing here?
Once again, like most of her life, she was the outsider. Even among her brothers, she’d felt it. Chase and Ben had each other. Mark and Dare had been tight. And she and Win had been so far apart in age that they couldn’t connect on a brother-sister level. She’d been alone. The only child whose mother wasn’t up to snuff. The only one without money when the tide had turned.
Logan looked down at her, his eyes softening. “Georgia, I’m sorry about last night. I didn’t mean a word of what I said. To either of you.”
She nodded, feeling awkward. They were here in her bedroom. It was a bit surreal. She turned her attention back to the moose.
“So it’s not something that’s going to attack?” She kept the blanket around her neck. Yeah, that was another way she was different. She wasn’t gorgeously perfect like them. She’d tried the whole diet thing, and she wasn’t cut out for it.
“Maurice is a sweetie, but I won’t lie. The first time I saw him, I peed my own damned pants and ran screaming for my mommas,” Logan said on a laugh. He reached a hand out, pressing it against the screen, his eyes misting like he was reaching for his past. “He won’t hurt you. He wants to say hello. And he probably smelled the bacon. Shit. My bacon.”
Logan turned and took off at a dead run for the kitchen.
Seth touched the screen, too. “Hey, Maurice. Thanks for the welcome.”
When he turned back to Georgia, he sported the sweetest smile. He jumped onto her bed, not a hint of self-consciousness on his face as he settled in beside her. “How did you sleep? My bed’s better, by the way. It’s huge. Built for three.”
“Good for you and whatever ménage you choose to invite. Could you go away so I can get dressed?” Last night seemed like a dream, and more than a little like a nightmare. God, what had she been thinking? Seth wanted her to tempt Logan into a ménage? He was insane. She was insane for not immediately walking out of the cabin and hoofing it to Malibu and the safety of Win’s minicastle where she could make like Rapunzel. She would barricade herself in and then keep her hair cut because she was done with men.
He smiled, an intimate thing that threatened to curl her toes. “I thought we settled that last night.”
She sighed and wished she was strong enough to not look at that towel, praying it would flop open and she would get a good view of what Seth had down under. Maybe it was small. Like tiny.
Did it matter? He was the sweetest man she’d ever met. He was kind and good. She wasn’t about to reject him because he had a small penis. It wasn’t like sex was all that awesome anyway.
Logan had a big penis. She’d felt it rubbing against her when he’d kissed her like there was no tomorrow. She thought about Logan’s penis a lot. More than a lot.
Nope. She wasn’t going to reject anyone based on penis size. She was going to reject them because she wasn’t about to get her heart broken again.

Review:

Master of the World by Edward Willett is the 2nd book in his Worldshaper series.  When we left off in the first book (Worldshaper), Shawna Keys, our heroine, managed to escape the Adversary, who was trying to kill her; she entered a portal into another shaper’s world, and unfortunately, the man who has been helping her deal with being a shaper (Karl) was missing, leaving Shawna all alone.

As she enters another portal where she hoped to find Karl, Shawna finds herself kidnapped and in a world that is shaped into a steampunk Jules Vern style.  Shawna will be rescued by another group that brings her to a land that is run by a Prince, who wants Shawna’s help to defeat Rubar, another leader.  Shawna must find out which of the two men is really the Shaper of the World, in order to get his help to find Karl.

What follows is an interesting concept utilizing a world shaped by the books of Jules Verne, and Shawna trying to keep herself alive, as well as to learn how to handle her own shaper abilities.  She will spend time with both leaders, and in trying to discover who is the true master of the world.   She will sneak away to Rubar and hope that he is the Shaper.  This is a difficult review to write, as there are so many details and characters, and to tell too much would ruin the storyline.

Master of the World was a detailed, at times exciting, and entertaining story line.  As I had noted in my first book review, this is a very different type of fantasy.  Because of the many details relating a lot to Jules Verne, it lost me along the way causing parts that were slow and somewhat redundant; the world building was interesting.  If you enjoy a steampunk fantasy, then I suggest you read this series, but please start with the first book, Worldshaper.
