REVIEW: FAMOUS is the eighth ( and final? ) instalment in Marie Force’s contemporary, adult QUANTUM erotic, BDSM, romance series focusing on the men and women who own and work for the Hollywood production company Quantum. This is academy award winning actress Marlowe Sloane’s story line. FAMOUS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory, history and cohesion.

REVIEW:TAMING MY WHISKEY is the sixth instalment in Melissa Foster’s contemporary, adult THE WHISKEYS: DARK KNIGHTS OF PEACEFUL HARBOR erotic, romance series. This is only daughter, bar owner and bookkeeper Dixie Whiskey, and Silver-Stone Cycles owners/tattoo artist Jace Stone’s story line. TAMING MY WHISKEY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary. The Whiskeys series is a spin off from the author’s Bradens of Peaceful Harbor. There is a slight MC biker theme throughout the series as the Whiskeys are part of the local Dark Knights MC. Several characters cross over between series for cohesion, camaraderie, and familiarity.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Dixie and Jace ) TAMING MY WHISKEY follows the building relationship between bar owner and book keeper Dixie Whiskey, and Silver-Stone Cycles owners/tattoo artist Jace Stone. Dixie is hoping to raise money for the local women’s shelter, and a bachelor auction is the perfect venue but billionaire businessman Jace Stone has refused all of Dixie’s requests to participate. When Dixie offers herself up for auction, Jace outbids everyone else in return for a favour from our story line heroine. Melissa Foster’s world building is phenomenal. Revealing a little bit of information about each of her previous characters to keep the reader informed about the who, how and why, and how each characters adds color and continuity to the growing story line..

TAMING MY WHISKEY is an emotional story of family, friendship and unrequited love. I may have shed a tear or three every time Dixie’s heart broke a little bit more. The premise is spicy and inspiring: the characters are sassy, sexy and stubborn; the romance is sensitive, realistic and passionate. TAMING MY WHISKEY is a beautiful and uplifting story of love and courage; understanding and inspiration.

A SECRET SCOTTISH CHRISTMAS by Regan Walker

A Secret Scottish Christmas begins with a group of people traveling from England to Scotland to celebrate Christmastide, albeit a secret celebration, with friends. Once the group arrives in Scotland, it doesn’t take long for the Powell twins, Nash and Robbie, to notice not only Aileen’s beauty, but also her fiery spirit.

As the story progresses, the twins put their secret plan into motion, in hopes of making their mission a successful one. However, as the twins get to know Ailie, it becomes apparent that one is more enamored than the other when said twin starts questioning their mission altogether.

A Secret Scottish Christmas is a great addition to the Agents of the Crown series. Ailie is a wonderfully written character. She is intelligent and feisty, but also has a loving heart for those she holds dear. The Powell twins were wonderfully written as well. I love the fact that they love each other as you would expect, but what drew me in was their sense of independence. Regan Walker did a phenomenal job of making each one of them their own person with their own identities. I also loved that Ailie picked up on their nuances that were written so brilliantly. Walker has also, once again, woven actual historical events into her story seamlessly and built a world that you can vividly see in your mind. Whether it is the sound of a dog barking, feeling the wind in your face as you sail away or seeing a landscape covered in new snow, you will find yourself noticing all of the details she meticulously sets for us to truly feel as if we are a part of.

Reading Regan Walker’s books is, at least for me, like watching a movie. You are swept into her world from the very beginning and you truly do hate for it to end. Added to all of this the fact that we get to see so many couples from previous books throughout the entire story makes it one of my favorites of everything she has written. If you’re a fan of historical romance, you will most definitely love A Secret Scottish Christmas. There is a beautifully developed romance, political intrigue and such well developed characters that you’ll swear this is your favorite as well….until the next one. Well done, Regan Walker! Very, very well done!

A Knight’s Redemption by Catherine Kean

A Knight’s Redemption begins at Branton Keep, where Lord de Lanceau and his wife have their annual Christmas celebration. Lord de Lanceau also announces whom this year’s Lord of Misrule will be. It’s an annual ritual that all look forward to, because whomever is chosen enjoys the privileges of being Lord until midnight. As the squires talk about whom they think will be chosen this year, Holden Kendall can’t help but notice the comely Lady Mary Westbrook, who is in attendance with her father. As Holden eyes Mary, she can’t help but be drawn to him as well. However, her father has other plans.

As the anticipation builds, Lord de Lanceau rises and announces this year’s Lord of Misrule is none other than Holden Kendall. As Holden ‘assumes’ the dais, he has one thing on his mind: he wants to kiss Mary. When he delivers his directive, she steadfastly refuses. Holden is shocked, and embarrassed, and tells her that if she refuses, she will be taken to the dungeon. To his even further shock, she still refuses and he has no other option than to see her taken to the dungeon. In the middle of all of this, he and the others are called out to battle a fire in town.

When he returns, he realizes that he has forgotten that Mary was still in the dungeon. He goes to free her and to apologize, but to say she’s livid would be an understatement. THIS is not how Holden had thought his quest for a simple kiss would turn out……………

Six years later, Mary is back at Branton Keep for the holidays. Thankfully, Holden no longer resides at the Keep. As she and Claire decide to go to town, they hear a baby crying and go to investigate. They see that two men are fighting and Mary reaches down to rescue the crying baby. She and Claire try to sneak away, only to be caught by one of the men, who demands the baby back. Mary thinks the man looks familiar, but is thankful when he loses consciousness.

Back at the Keep, Holden comes to and is questioned by those in authority there. When he explains that the baby is his nephew and someone was trying to kidnap the baby, they are wary, but agree to let them stay until Lord de Lanceau arrives and can vouch for who he says he is. However, once Mary goes to where Holden is being held, neither of them know the danger they will face, nor how much their running into each other after all of this time will change their lives forever.

A Knight’s Redemption is a wonderful written tale that draws you in from the very beginning. Even though it is a novella, the characters are masterfully written. Mary has struggled with her self-image due to her verbally abusive father and deems herself as not worthy of a male’s attention for most of her life. Her friend, Claire, does her best to dissuade her from believing so, but it is Holden who finally convinces her that she is worthy of so much more than just attention. The secondary characters in this book all have had their own books in the past, and even though I don’t feel like I missed anything due to not having read those, I do feel that the back stories would have enriched the story for me. With that said, I thoroughly enjoyed Holden and Mary’s tale so much, that I will go back and read the others’ stories. If you’re a fan of this genre, you’ll be a fan of this story for sure. Well done, Catherine Kean! Very well done!

REVIEW: I have always been a avid fan of the Demonica series, and this one had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I laughed, I cried, I got mad at the characters, and I think at one point I even had to set it down and take a walk because it had me so enveloped in the story.

I do recommend reading the books in order, though you can read any of them as a standalone. Azagoth’s story is one that I will never forget and one that I think any fan will too. Now there has been a Novella about him before, but this is a full-length story that fills in a lot of gaps and other information many of us were biting at the bit for.

Azagoth is a former angel, now the keeper of souls. He and his mate, Lilliana are expecting their first child, this is bound to make any new couple a hot mess, but the Grim Reaper. Well everyone better get ready. His enemies are aware of this and will stop at nothing to see him hurt and dead. Azagoth will stop at nothing to keep his new family safe.

I can’t wait for what is to come next, no spoilers, so read it to find out!!

Jason had settled into a chair in the center of the shop, surveying the work going on around him. He’d already left once, returning with sandwiches and sodas for everyone. As the hours passed and he vacillated between returning messages on his phone and talking to the workmen he obviously knew, she grew more confused.
“Don’t you have somewhere else to be?” she asked him.
He raised an eyebrow as if to say, Really? “Nowhere more important. I want to make sure the work here is done correctly and this place looks exactly the way you want it.”
She appreciated his thoughtfulness, but he had to have better things to do than worry about her. “Okay, but I can handle that. I don’t want to take up more of your day than I already have. I can stick around until the guys are finished, lock up, and head home.”
He folded his strong arms over his chest, his olive-green Henley pulling tight over his muscles. “And do you think I’m going to leave you here alone after what you told me about your brother?”
She’d been pushing thoughts of Colton aside all day. “I have pepper spray on my keychain.” The words sounded ridiculous, even to her.
She was no match for her brother, and if he was strung out? He’d have a wiry strength she couldn’t handle. She knew that firsthand, memories of her hands trying to pull his wrists off her neck very clear in her mind.
“Okay, fine. I appreciate you making sure I get home safely.” She’d be a fool to fight Jason’s protective nature.

He sighed. “Fine. You need someone to vouch for me? We can call my partners. Or my sister. Or… Hey, Sam! Am I trustworthy?” Jason yelled out to the man who was just climbing down a ladder, her clean window staring back at her.
Sam strode up to them and looked from Jason to Faith and back again. “Best man I know. Take a look at this.” Reaching into his pocket, Sam pulled out his phone, then began scrolling through his pictures.
“This is my girl.” He turned the phone so Faith could see a picture of a grinning little pixie with a bright smile and a pom-pom hat on her bald head, no hair hanging down beneath the folded brim.
“She’s beautiful,” Faith said, sliding her finger over her face.
“And if it wasn’t for this guy introducing us to his sister, I don’t think my wife and I would have made it through the roughest parts of her illness.” He shoved his phone back into his pocket.
Looking up at Jason from beneath her lashes, she caught a flush on his cheeks.
“It just so happens I could help you, man. But I’m glad Sienna could do her part. She loves fundraising and doing anything she can for kids who’ve been through what she has.”
Faith would like to help her one day, when there was no danger following her around, she thought sadly. For now, though, she had to fight through her own problems and not bring them into other people’s lives.
“Thanks, Sam.” Jason all but dismissed his friend, who waved and walked back to the other guy helping him.
“So? Still think I’m a serial killer?” Jason asked her.

Grace stopped a few feet in front of him and pulled her shoulders back, as if she were preparing to fight the board of some big company. “First of all, I’m not asking you to play daddy. I just need you to make a donation.”“A donation?” Oh, he knew what she meant, but he wanted to hear her say the words. It was childish, but if he was going to squirm his way through this conversation, he for damn sure didn’t want to do it alone.

Her eyes narrowed. “Sperm, Liam. You do understand how babies are made?”

He laughed and held up his hands. “I’m sorry. That wasn’t nice. Apparently, the subject brings out my inner twelve-year-old. We’re here”—he waved a hand in the direction of the doorway, indicating the house around them—“of all places, and you want to talk about sex.”

She cleared her throat. “Not sex. Babies.”

“That’s how babies are made, Grace.” He shouldn’t have said that, but the way her face flushed made the tease worth whatever torture would follow. Damned if she wasn’t more beautiful with her cheeks glowing.

As expected, though, all that flush did was fuel those fantasies he shouldn’t be thinking about. The one memory he didn’t have was the one he wanted the most—what she looked like in the throes of an orgasm.

Review:

The Highland Outlaw by Heather McCollum is the 4th book in her Campbells series.  It starts out with the premise of a small child being taken to safety. The missive charges Shaw Sinclair the job of delivering the baby girl.  Shaw is Laird of the Sinclair Clan and whilst promising to deliver a baby to safety, the wet nurse (a woman employed to breastfeed another woman’s child) he employs dies on the journey, spotting his chance he uses every trick in the book to persuade Alana to join him…… 

Alana is sick of being under appreciated, No one takes her seriously!! And finding out her mother is alive (in previous books it was thought she had died) spurs Alana on to find and rescue her. Her help comes in the form of charming if not slightly rude Shaw Sinclair. 

Their journey is fraught with danger, people are after the child, and will stop at nothing to achieve it. 

But lies have a habit of surfacing, Campbell’s and Sinclair’s are sworn enemies, but as the journey progresses, it’s getting harder and harder to remain enemies, and pretending to be husband and wife is blurring the lines. 

Double dealings, treachery, betrayal and lots of action keep this book going at a great pace. 

So why does Shaw have to deliver this baby? And to whom? Is she special in anyway? What happens if the baby doesn’t get delivered? And will Alana find her mother? And these secrets that Shaw and Alana have, will it really spell the end of this Laird and his feisty lass? 

Another good book by Heather McColllum in The Campbell series. We’ve met a few of the characters in this book in previous stories, so it was nice to add a little more background to it all.
