Christmas Angels by Nancy Naigle – a Review

Description:
Growing up, Liz Westmoreland dreamed of taking over her grandparents inn located in the small mountain town of Angels Creek only for it to be sold before she ever got the chance. While browsing the internet, she stumbles upon a listing for what looks to be the picturesque inn and it’s set to go to auction. Liz places a bid, and by a miracle, wins the auction. But when she gets there she finds the property in significant disrepair.

When Matt Hardy narrowly lost the inn and property that butted his land, he just hoped it wasn’t another city slicker coming to make matters worse after the previous owners gutted the place for an art gallery. But the minute he recognized the sweet, freckle-faced girl from his childhood and heard her plans to reopen the inn, he jumps at the chance to help his childhood crush restore a place where he made so many fond memories.

While working on repairs, Liz and Matt discover her grandmother’s collection of angels in one of the cabins. When the angels start mysteriously showing up all over the inn, she begins to look at them as reassurance—that restoring the inn is what she’s meant to do. But when an accident leaves Liz feeling like she made a mistake, will Matt—and the residents of Angels Creek—be able to show Liz that she’s found a home? And possibly true love as well?

Review:

Christmas Angels by Nancy Naigle is another one of her sweet Christmas romances.  We meet our heroine, Liz Westmoreland, at the start, as she makes a decision that will change her life forever.   Liz makes a spur of the moment decision to purchase a B&B that her grandparents used to own in Angels Creek, which she has so many fond memories. It has been many years since she stayed in the town of Angels Creek ,as well as in the B&B; but Liz is excited to return to her happy place.  When she arrives, she finds the place in deep disrepair, with the former owners having just about gutted the place.  Liz is determined to find someone to break down the costs involved in restoring the place, and hope to fulfill her dream.

Matt Hardy, our hero, remembers Liz when she was a childhood friend, but she does not remember him from all those years ago; unbeknownst to Liz, he also put a losing bid on the property.   Liz meets many people who remember her grandparents, with everyone welcoming her and being very friendly, hoping she will decide to move forward.  When she meets Matt, she is thrilled that he did an evaluation of what needs to be done, and when he makes a bid to help fix up the place, she accepts.

Matt begins the renovation fast, bringing in men to start, as he and Liz review the plans to restore the Inn.  Liz is always weighing whether she is making the right choice to spend more money, even though Matt keeps the costs as low as possible.   When Liz has an accident that fractures her ankle, she becomes despondent that perhaps she should give up. But the friends and the wonderful town in Angels Creek will step up to help Liz.

Matt was a great guy, everyone loves him and he found himself attracted to Liz, going out of his way to help her.  Liz on the other hand was determined not to become involved with anyone that works for her, though in a short time she began to weaken her resolve.  Matt was the perfect guy, always helping everyone, caring about all his neighbors and friends; and Liz begins to see him differently.  I also loved Matt’s dog Elvis, whom Liz also fell in love with.   There were some wonderful secondary characters that made this heartwarming story even better.

Christmas Angels was a wonderful enjoyable, sweet, heartwarming storyline, with a great couple, fantastic small-town atmosphere and a great romantic couple.  I really enjoyed this story, and finished it in one day.  Christmas Angels was very well written by Nancy Naigle, as well as having a Christmas background story, filled with love, life, family and friends.  This is a perfect holiday book you should read.

Like Kai Pukui, the linebacker helping her team dominate on the field.

The same quiet, beautiful man who stares too long at her and reminds her of how decadent and risky living life can be.

REVIEW: OFFSIDES is the third (and final) instalment in Eden Butler’s contemporary, adult SAINTS AND SINNERS erotic, romance series focusing on the professional football team the New Orleans Steamers. This is single father/ linebacker Kai Pukui, and general manager Gia Jilani’s story line . OFFSIDES can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion I recommend reading THIN LOVE (Thin Love #1), and LAST LOVE OF LUKA HALE (Saints and Sinners #1).

NOTE: OFFSIDES take place before some of the events of books two ROUGHING THE KICKER

Told from dual third person perspectives (Gia and Kai) OFFSIDES follows the forbidden romance and relationship between twenty-eight year old, New Orleans Steamers’ linebacker Kai Pakui, and the NFL’s first female general manager, thirty-seven year old Gia Jilani. Gia Jilani is Kai Pakui’s boss, and struggles with her attraction to a man nine years her junior, as well as the bigger issue of being the boss. With Kai’s constant attempts at seduction, Gia battles with memories of the past, memories that have affected all of her other relationships. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Kai and Gia, and the potential fall-out as Gia struggles with the employee/employer dynamic, and the revelations that will break our heroine’s heart.

Kai Pukui is a single father who is financially responsible for everyone back home. But a loss in his life will bring his relationship with Gia to the forefront, a relationship that Gia wants kept hidden and behind closed doors. Gia Jilani doesn’t do relationships. Our heroine has loved and lost, and in this nothing and no one can compare to what she had twenty years earlier. Kai’s persistence begins to pay off until Gia discovers that the past has come full circle in more ways than one.

The relationship between Kai and Gia is an employee/employer relationship that struggles with Kai’s continuing efforts to seduce our story line heroine. Gia refuses to get caught up in an ‘office’ romance, a romance that could threaten her hard-fought place in the NFL. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Kai’s nine-year old daughter Keola, as well as Gia’s assistant Cat, as well as the reappearance of Kona Hale (Thin Love), and his son Ransom Hale (Thick Love).

OFFSIDES is a story of loss and grief; revelations and acceptance; moving forward and letting go of the past. The premise is engaging and captivating; the romance is seductive and hot; the characters are colorful, energetic, broken but healing. OFFSIDES is sensitive and spicy story of second chances and happily ever afters.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 15, 2019

We’re a match made in hell, Stefan and I.

He took me to exact his revenge. I went from being a pawn to my father to being a pawn to Stefan. The only difference is I have a ring the size of a boulder on my finger and a husband I don’t want.

And the hardest part is I thought he was different. I thought I was falling in love.

I guess my father was right. I’m not a very smart girl.

Stefan is a powerful man. He doesn’t play nice, not if you’re his enemy. But I’ve learned one thing about my husband.

He takes care of what’s his.
And I am his.

His enemies have become my enemies, but he’ll never let anyone hurt me. He’s fiercely protective. It’s the predator inside that scares me.

•••••••••

REVIEW: DAMAGE is the second instalment in Natasha Knight’s contemporary, adult COLLATERAL DAMAGE erotic, dark, mafia romance duology focusing on the head of the Sicilian Sabbioni family, twenty-nine year old Stefan Sabbioni, and eighteen year old Gabriela Marchese. DAMAGE should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of book one COLLATERAL.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers including questionable consent, discipline and violence.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Stefan and Gabriela) DAMAGE continues to follow the acrimonious relationship between on the head of the Sicilian Sabbioni family, twenty-nine year old Stefan Sabbioni, and eighteen year old Gabriela Marchese. Gabriela Marchese is a pawn in the world of the Sicilian mob. As payment for her father’s debt Gabriela Marchese is a bird in a gilded cage but a bird who is somewhat naïve and struggles with what was, what is and what will be. Constantly looking for a way to escape her captor, Gabriela finds herself jumping from the proverbial frying pan into the fire, a jump that places her in the hands of someone trying to take control. What ensues is the building but dysfunctional relationship between Gabriela and Stefan, and the potential fall-out as someone else is determined to take over the mantel as head of the Sicilian mob.

The relationship between Gabriela and Stefan is dark and flawed. Gabriela is nothing more than collateral damage; a forfeiture for sins of the past but a woman who continues to battle for her freedom regardless of the threats and potential for harm. Naïve and often TSTL (too stupid to live) our heroine places her trust in the wrong people, time and again, trust that will be destroyed at every turn. The $ex scenes are erotic, intense, dramatic and controlling.

The colorful secondary and supporting characters include Stefan’s right hand man and cousin Rafa Catalano, his father Francesco Catalan; Rafa’s cousin Clara; Gabriela’s father Gabriel, and her brother Gabe; and Stefan’s housekeeper Miss Millie. Here’s hoping the author has plans for Rafa’s story.

DAMAGE is a character driven story of family, betrayal, vengeance and retaliation; a story of blood, power, ascendance and control; of secrets and lies. The premise is dark, suspenseful, thought provoking and edgy; the characters are broken and tragic: the romance is disturbing, often heart breaking but passionate. DAMAGE is a startling and emotional dark romance with a twist that I suspected early on.

Excerpt:
It’s midnight when we’re back at the house and I carry her to my room. She doesn’t resist when I strip off her clothes, her underthings still damp, and put her in the shower under a flow of hot water. I strip too and step in beside her and there’s no resistance when I kiss her. When I take her in my arms and kiss her as the water washes sea salt from us.She opens to me and I cup the back of her head. I don’t ever want to stop kissing her. Don’t ever want to stop holding her like this. When the water begins to cool, I switch off the shower and dry her then myself before lifting her up and carrying her to my bed. I lay her down and lie down beside her, shifting so I’m on top of her but keeping most of my weight on my forearms so I don’t crush her.I slide one hand down and cup the mound of her breast. I run my fingernail over her nipple, and she moans into my mouth. When I pull away, it’s to look at her.

She licks her lips, reaches up to touch my cheek, slides her hand down to my chest and sets it against my heart.

We don’t talk. We don’t say a single word. Not for a long while. We just kiss and kiss and look at each other. And I can’t get enough of touching her. Tasting her. Can’t get close enough to her.

“Christ, Gabriela,” I start. “I want you.” I roll off her and onto my side to slide my hand down over her belly.

She cups my cheek, touches her mouth to mine. “Kiss me again.”

I do.

The Matchmaker’s Mistletoe Mission by Jaci Burton – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple

Description:
Stranded at the Red Moss Vineyard a week before her best friend’s wedding, LA native and professional matchmaker Alice Weatherford is not pleased with her first trip to Oklahoma, or the epic snowstorm forcing her to stay. So much for Christmas cheer. What she needs is a project, something to distract her…and, oh, has she found one in neighboring rancher Clay Henry. Gorgeous, charming, and unlike any other man she’s ever met, finding the right woman for Clay should be easy….

Having grown up with the Bellini sisters, it’s no hardship for Clay to ride out the storm at their cozy family vineyard, especially since that means spending time with their savvy and smart houseguest. But despite Alice’s best efforts, he’s not the least bit interested in her matchmaking….

Alice is the only woman Clay wants. Now he just has to convince the matchmaker herself to give love a chance

Review:

The Matchmaker’s Mistletoe Mission by Jaci Burton is the first book in her new Boots and Bouquets series.  We meet our heroine, Alice Weatherford at the start when she arrives in Oklahoma, to help prepare for her best friend’s wedding that will happen in a week.  When Alice arrives at Red Moss Vineyard, the place for the wedding, she ends up stuck there when a major snowstorm hits. Alice is a successful matchmaker by trade, and works out of Los Angeles.

The Bellini family, who own Red Moss Vineyard, are very welcoming, offering Alice to stay there until the storm ends.  Clay Henry, our hero and a rancher, is a friend of the Bellini’s and ends up getting stuck at the vineyard during the storm.  Almost immediately, the attraction between Alice and Clay heats up, and in a short time a sizzling steamy relationship begins, with both knowing that there is only a week before Alice leaves.

What follows was a fun and romantic story, with a bit of a Christmas themed background, as well as the wedding preparations and venue.  It was fun to watch Alice try to set up Clay with the perfect woman that meets her experience as a matchmaker; she doesn’t get very far, as the both cannot resist each other and their chemistry is off the wall scorching hot. I really did like Alice, as she was a wonderful heroine, and very likable.  Clay was awesome too.  I also loved the Bellini sisters, and I do expect to see more of them in future books of this series.

The Matchmaker’s Mistletoe Mission was a lighthearted romance about two people who live different lives, and in the short period (one week) they fall in love, but can they work it out?  Jaci Burton once again gives us a sweet fun romantic story and couple.  I suggest you find the time to read The Matchmaker’s Mistletoe Mission.

There’s more to me than just being awk-weird. I own my own flower shop, have some great friends, and I have my eye on adopting the most adorable kitten. But sadly, hot guys don’t tend to be blown away by my trivia-spouting, dorky self.

So, when a Thor-lookalike who happens to be a professional hockey player hits on me at my bestie’s wedding rehearsal party … You better believe I climbed that tree like a cat. And the face that it happened not once, not twice, but three times? Yeah, that’s pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a woman like me.

There’s zero chance I’ll end up ever seeing him again…right?

Until the pregnancy test comes up positive. What happens next?

Oh my God, I wish I knew…

•••••••••••

REVIEW: I had such a chuckle reading this. I’ve read the previous book in this series, “Parental Guidance”, so I looking forward to see who was in this one. (These don’t need to be read in order)

We first met Tess is a different series “The Hartigans”

Tess looks at herself as ordinary, a nerd. But I liked the character, her awk-weird (ness) was endearing. She has no social skills, she has no idea how to interact with a guy. She does try bless her, she just doesn’t have a clue. She knows it’s going to happen soon, her friends have found someone, a d soon they will be moving on. She’s had it all her life, no one has every really wanted her, being passed around from relative to relative, a d getting the feeling you weren’t really wanted has certainly done a number on Tess.

And being at another wedding (her three best friends have all found love) just sucks. She doesn’t begrudge them, but she’s going to be on her own pretty soon. Again!!!!

As Cole watches his ex leave with her date, its pretty obvious they were properly over, they were and on/off couple, he’d given her his love, she’d left, so he was going to get drunk, and then move on …..

Tess and Cole meet at a pre-wedding dinner. A game is being played, and although Tess isn’t invited, she can’t help whisper the answers. She doesn’t think anyone is listening, until a challenge is dished out, and Tess is partnered with a Thor look alike ? drinks are flowing and soon the questions are flying around. Tess can’t remember when she’d had this much fun.

Together they make their escape through an open door, Cole really doesn’t do cute, but she does have something about her …..

Oh dear!!!! We wake the next morning, and a few regrets raise its ugly head, yes they’d had a great night, but in the come light of day, would Cole really want to be seen with her?

One month later ….

Tess is pregnant!!! Ok she knows how it happens, but how did it happen? They’d had protected sex (three times) so it should have been ok. What’s a girl to do? Does she tell the father? It does she keep it quiet?

Cole is shocked!! How the hell did Tess become pregnant?

But as the pair struggle to come to terms with the pregnancy, they spend more and more time together. Her quirks intrigue him, just being with her makes more sense than being with his ex ever did.

So will they end up together? Or will Tess’s past keep them apart?

It’s another laugh a minute book. It’s good a few deep moments (both Cole and Tess have issues, and it’s good to watch them work through them together)

Review by Julie B?

USA Today bestselling romance author Avery Flynn has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip.

She fell in love with romance while reading Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory books. It wasn’t long before Avery had read through all the romance offerings at her local library. Needing a romance fix, she turned to Harlequin’s four books a month home delivery service to ease the withdrawal symptoms. That worked for a short time, but it wasn’t long before the local book stores’ staffs knew her by name.

Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs.

Morgan Valens, charmer of women everywhere, has been tasked with bringing home the willful beauty, Serena, no matter what it takes. More than one man has tried and all have failed. He will not.

When an ominous prediction warns them of a new threat to their people, Serena and Morgan must find a way to overcome their past and work together. Because if they fail, not only will they lose each other, their people will lose the safety found in daylight, forever….

Barb’s Review:

Saving Daylight by Shannon K. Butcher is the 11th book in her wonderful The Sentinel Wars series. I am a big fan of this series and Butcher’s writing, and couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book.  Brief refresher: The Sentinel Wars series revolves around immortal warriors that protect the humans from the evil demons, Synestryn.  The Sanquinars are healers, who need blood to survive, and they are dwindling; and the Theronai, who are elite protectors, who need to find their life mates to survive. The Synestryns are determined to kill all the Theronai woman and children, in order to destroy the Theronai warriors; as they continue to lose the leaves that will eventually kill them without a mate.

We meet our hero, Morgan Valens, a Theronai warrior, who has been assigned to find one of the women whom they need to help them in their battle against the Synestryn demons.  Things are looking bleak for everyone living at the stronghold, Dabyr, as the enemy is starting to win the war.  Morgan finally manages to find the woman he needs to bring back to Dabyr.

Serena Brinn, our heroine and a powerful woman in her own right, is determined to destroy all the demons on her own, and does not want help from Morgan or any Theronai.  Serena was locked up in isolation by her mother for two hundred years, and now she will do anything to never again allow herself to not be free. Morgan does his best to convince her she is needed to work together with the other Theronai in order to defeat the enemy, but he gets nowhere.  The demons have found a way to create daylight demons by the thousands, and no matter how fast those in Dabyr or Morgan and Serena together kill them, more continue to arise:  the desperation escalates; Serena has been told to find the source of the creation of those daylight demons before they all die.

What follows is an exciting, action packed adventure, where Morgan and Serena find themselves in disastrous situations often, which each needing help from the Sanquinar healers to bring them back to health. Despite neither of them wanting to act on their growing attraction to each other, the chemistry between them is hot.  Serena wants her freedom, fearing Morgan will take that away from her; Morgan lost his wife years ago, and feels he is betraying her memory.  Will they both find a way to bond together, making both of them even more powerful?

Whereas, in previous books, the story mostly revolves around the lead couple, in Saving Daylight, we did get a number of other POV’s of the pregnant woman in Dabyr who are using their power to help fight off the enemy.  At times, I felt it was a bit confusing, but since this was a major battle of survival, it was needed to keep the flow going.  As we raced to the finish, this was a wild crazy battle with so many of our old and new favorites in a fight to death; keeping us on the edge of our seats

Saving Daylight was a wonderful addition to TheSentinel Wars, and Shannon Butcher once again gives us a great exciting story, a great couple, and wonderful secondary and recurring characters.  If you enjoy paranormal fantasy, with lots of action and romance, then you should start reading this series.

Sandy’s Review

SAVING DAYLIGHT is the eleventh instalment in Shannon K. Butcher’s contemporary, adult SENTINEL WARS paranormal, fantasy romance series. This is Theronai warrior Morgan Valens, and Serena Brinn’s story line. SAVING DAYLIGHT can be read as a stand alone but for cohesion and back story I recommend reading the series in order as many of the storylines overlap and continue in each successive instalment. Shannon is an author who builds up future storylines in many of the previous novels.

SOME BACKGROUND: The Sentinels are three races descended from an ancient race of guardians known as the Athanasians, who defend and protect mankind from the demons at the door. The Theronai are the protectors whose Theronai lifemark-The Tree of Life-begins to lose its’ leaves if a Theronai warrior does not find his mate. The lifemark is a visual gage of a soul’s health, and all of the warriors suffering with the pain are running out of time. The Synestryn have killed most of the female Theronai and the warriors are in need of women whose DNA and heritage will match with their own: the Sanguinar are the healers (as well as blood feeders) and the Synestryn are the demons whose humanity has been lost for centuries.

Told from several third person perspectives including Morgan and Serena SAVING DAYLIGHT follows Morgan and Serena as they fight for their lives, as well as the lives of everyone they know. Morgan Valens has been tasked with retrieving one of the few remaining female Theronai but Serena Brinn wants nothing to do with another captivity having lived two hundred years in a prison of her mother’s making. Refusing to go from one jailer to another Serena battles both head and heart as she fights to destroy the demon-like Synestryn, all on her own but Morgan isn’t willing to face the future without her, having realized Serena is one of the few compatible females to save his Theoronai lifemark. As the battle continues to rage on at the Theronai compound, another battle begins to tear down the walls of Serena’s heart when Morgan is left fighting for his life alongside another warrior who is close to losing the last of his leaves. What ensues is the acrimonious relationship and détente between Serena and Morgan, and the potential fall-out as both believe they are not worthy of love or finding their own happily ever after.

Serena found the price of freedom meant battling the demons that were destroying her world. As the Theronai warrior slowly succumbs to losing his soul, others will find themselves facing an enemy that is much more than anyone could have imagined.

The relationship between Serena and Morgan begins acrimoniously when Serena refuses to return to the Theronai compound. As one of the few known remaining Theronai females in existence Serena has no desire to become someone’s mate, let alone become subservient to a man who only wants control. Knowing Serena is reluctant to tie herself down to eternity, Morgan is willing to sacrifice himself in order to give Serena her freedom, no matter the cost. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Meanwhile, the Theronai compound is still under attack, and their defenses are slowly falling to the maurading hoards. Somehow, a new breed of Synestryn have developed the ability to move about in daylight, time when the Theronai could have taken the advantage. Lives will be threatened, babies will be born, unmated females will soon discover there are others looking to guard and protect.

SAVING DAYLIGHT is a story of survival and war; of fated mates, power and working together. The premise is startling, wonderful and gripping; the characters are feisty, dynamic and spirited; the romance is tender, encouraging and sensual. Shannon K Butcher invites the reader into a dramatic and intense instalment in the Sentinel Wars paranormal, fantasy series.

Meeting Jason Clements, a wanna-be cowboy who is struggling with day to day living gives Sage an opportunity to prove she is capable of finding someone to love.

The slow burn relationship between Sage and Jason begins as kindred spirits; a ‘fake’ boyfriend/girlfriend relationship meant to convince her best friend that she isn’t destroyed by the impending nuptials. Jason is willing to take their fake relationship to the next level but discovers that he is hoping to make Sage his own happily ever after. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to Wyoming rancher Eli Pickett, and his wife Cassandra Horn(All I Want for Christmas is a Cowboy #1), Dustin Worthington, and professional dog trainer Annie Grissom (The Cowboy and His baby #2), as well as Achilles the dog, and Sage’s childhood friend Greg Wallace.

A COWBOY UNDER THE MISTLETOE is a story of family, friendship, struggles and love. The premise is heart warming and entertaining; the characters are colorful, energetic and real; the romance is captivating and intense. Jessica Clare pulls the reader into a love affair between two people who have waited a life-time to fall in love.

Jason chuckled, and a slow smile spread across his lean face, and oh, her heart did the craziest little flip. Despite the sweating and the weird situation, Jason Clements, newbie to Painted Barrel, was handsome. He was tall and wiry, and his cheekbones were blade sharp. His eyes were piercing, and his dark hair was cropped extremely short—naval regulation, maybe? But his smile was utterly breathtaking.
And he was smiling at her. Even though she was being goofy and weird and wearing ridiculous reindeer antlers, he was smiling at her. Sage Cooper.
Man-repellent.
It was a heady feeling. In that moment, she wanted to help him and get more of those smiles. Sage genuinely loved helping people, but she had a different goal in mind when she looked at Jason. She just wanted him to smile again.
“You really don’t know how to ranch?” she asked.
He pursed his lips and shook his head.
“Why did you lie?” It didn’t seem like a job anyone would take on the spur of the moment. There were easier jobs out there than ranching, and they probably paid a heck of a lot more.
Meaning that he had a secret. Well, that was all right. She’d always thought of herself as an open book, but things had changed over the last year. After all, weren’t her dating app profiles a secret? A humiliating, awful secret that Greg would laugh and laugh about if he knew . . . and then tell Becca? Who would then tell everyone in Painted Barrel?
Yeah, Sage knew all about keeping things secret to protect yourself.
“I won’t ask,” she told him. “But I can help you.”
Jason looked at her with a frown and then dawning realization. “You can get me some books?”
“Well, not exactly.” She hugged Order of the Phoenix tighter to her chest, as if to bolster herself. “But I do have a ranch.”
His eyes flared with interest, and the breath stole from her lungs. Oh, were his eyes gray? She liked that. She liked that a lot. “You do?”
“Everyone here does. There’s not much around Painted Barrel but ranches, you know?”
He gestured at the mail desk, where Greg’s pamphlets were spread. “But I thought you . . .”
“Municipal clerk. I know. I am.” She went to tuck a lock of hair behind her ear, flustered, and ended up smacking her reindeer horns. “My father was the mayor of this town before he passed, and he got me a job as a municipal clerk when I was a teenager. And I sort of stayed on and have done it ever since. But yeah, my father has a ranch, and now that he’s gone, it’s mine. I’ve sold all of the cattle but two, and just one horse. You can come over to my place and practice until you get comfortable, if you like.”
He stared at her, stunned. “You’d do that for me?”
She beamed at him. “Of course. Why wouldn’t I?”
Sage watched, fascinated, as his jaw clenched. “Reasons.”
“Because most people don’t do things out of the good- ness of their hearts. Not anymore.” He rubbed his jaw again. “Can I pay you?”
Sage waved a hand, dismissing the thought. Once she sold all her father’s acreage, she’d have more money than she knew what to do with. “Don’t be silly.”
But he gave her another intense look, leaning in. His height was . . . amazing. She gazed up at him and felt as if he were the tallest—and handsomest—man she’d ever seen. Oh, her new crush was baaaad. “I’d feel better if I didn’t owe you,” he murmured.
An idea occurred to her, and she clutched the book tighter. Did she dare? Should she ask? Her mouth worked silently, and then before she could think better of it, she blurted, “I do need a date.”

Jessica Clare is the pen name for Jill Myles.

Jill Myles has been an incurable romantic since childhood. She reads all the ‘naughty parts’ of books first, looks for a dirty joke in just about everything, and thinks to this day that the Little House on the Prairie books should have been steamier.

After devouring hundreds of paperback romances, mythology books, and archaeological tomes, she decided to write a few books of her own – stories with a wild adventure, sharp banter, and lots of super-sexy situations. She prefers her heroes alpha and half-dressed, her heroines witty, and she loves nothing more than watching them overcome adversity to fall into bed together.

Review:

For Witch or For Poorer by A.E. Jones is the 5th book in her fun Paranormal Wedding Planners series.  I’ve read this series from the beginning. And I’ve loved every book so far.

Maeve was recently adopted into the pack. (We meet her in the last book “For better or for Wolf”) She loves her new family, (especially her “newly found brothers”) and there is nothing she won’t do for them. She will protect them with her very life. And she might just have to do that!! The wolf who had raised her (who in fact wasn’t her father) is bringing in the big guns, a powerful witches coven. What does he want?

Being with her brothers and a new pack should bring her peace, but peaceful is anything but how Maeve feels. And the wolf inside her, that can’t be let out, not under any circumstances!!! But she needs a little independence, after twenty-five of being controlled by her “father” Maeve wants a little freedom.

Giz/Tim is the nerd of the paranormal security force. (We’ve meet the rest of the team in previous books) he’s the tech guy, the wizard genius, and literally a wizard. But Giz has a secret, one he’s not even willing to share with the guys in his group (and he trusts them with his life)

Maeve and Giz meet on pack grounds and there is an attraction of sorts, but both are wary, so after a sort of flirty conversation, they both go their own ways. Giz is aware that Maeve is still fragile after years of verbal abuse, and the last thing she needs is him. And he’s aware of her three brothers, and really, he doesn’t do relationships…..

The pack is attacked by the Lunadorium (the coven of witches) they’ve already dealt with Maeve’s father, and now they’ve set their sights on the pack and Maeve.

The romance between Giz and Maeve is a slow burn. They feel that each doesn’t deserve happiness, so push or try to ignore their feelings for each other.

This has to be my second favourite book in the series (fingers crossed Sullivan gets a book ?)
