ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 29, 2020

Dex Foster has a pregnant girlfriend, a radio show facing cancellation, and a heart full of Gen-X cynicism. Now he’s trying to reboot his broadcast career with a podcast featuring, for its debut episode, an interview with Logan Hazelette, Dex’s former bandmate and current rock demigod, lately absent from public life. But for Logan, on the run from life in L.A., this trip back home is a chance to do more than reconnect with old friends. And for Dex, still jealous of Logan’s success and now facing imminent parenthood, these few days will mean a confrontation between the past he’s still clinging to and the future he’s being rocketed towards.

WE WILL RID THE WORLD OF YOU is a startling and staggering odyssey through our celebrity-obsessed and terror-threatened present, through commercially-re-appropriated punk rock and the rural heroin epidemic, through one man’s struggle to choose love over fear.

••••••••

REVIEW:Told from first person perspective (Dex Foster), focusing on two timelines, WE WILL RID THE WORLD OF YOU by Scott Burr follows radio talk show host Dex Foster as his life slowly spirals out of control. When the radio station for which he works is sold, Dex and Dave’s number one rated talk show is on the chopping block. A possible podcast interview with one-time friend , former bandmate and reclusive rock star Logan Hazelette sends Dex and Logan’s manager into the underbelly of drug addiction where the reality of stardom hides the ugliness of fame. Having all but ignored his pregnant girlfriend Bethany back home, Dex must face the possibility that all is not well in both his personal and professional life-tragedy will strike and world events threaten to pull him under. From Cleveland to Paris, France, and back to L.A., Dex Foster will discover that fame is a perception; friendships are intermittent; and that life never made any promises for now or the future.

WE WILL RID THE WORLD OF YOU is a philosophical study of one man’s journey of discovery and loss, and a sociological essay about the people he meets along the way.

WE WILL RID THE WORLD OF YOU is an interesting, thought provoking, and intriguing but slow building story that, for the first half of the book, does more telling than showing. Reading like a narrative of one man’s life, WE WILL RID THE WORLD OF YOU jumps from the present to the past, returning to the present but doesn’t pick up momentum until Dex Foster begin his search for musician Logan Hazelette. We are witness to Dex’s downward spiral following ten years of on-air success; his struggling relationship with his girlfriend; his volatile friendship with, and jealousy both past and present of Logan Hazelette, and his affiliation with a stranger named Jonathan Upasaka, a man who will show Dex Foster the meaning of life.

He’s prideful, rich, and next in line to be king of the eagles.
She’s an eensy bit prejudiced, and a lot rock and roll.
What these two City of Angels’ supernaturals are about to discover is that there is so much more to a person than what meets the eye.

Eagle Fitzwilliam Ambustus is controlled, precise, and direct. He doesn’t have the time nor the emotional wherewithal to be anything other than who he is. Others think him cold and unfeeling, but that’s just the surface. Beneath his suits, he is so much more.

Elizabeth Argueta is a free spirit. She’s a rock and roll, go-with-my-flow drummer on a mission to live life to the beat of her own drum. And most importantly, she’s got a view of the world that sets her firmly apart from the rich and the clingy of the L.A. scene.

When these two meet, it might be sparks-at-first-sight, but they’ll have to get over their pride and their prejudice to not only overcome those trying to keep them apart but also to understand and come to love each other … just as they are.

Note: The first book in the Shifter Kings L.A. series is short, sassy, sexy, shift-tastic, and a whole lot of rock and roll … with a little Pride and Prejudice thrown in.

•••••••••

REVIEW: That was such a refreshing read.

Eagle is rigid, everything in his world is ordered, nothing out of place.
Manages a band (I was surprised, thought him more of a tall office building millionaire) just waiting till it’s his turn to rule. He’s going to do things different.

Iz, Izzy, (Elizabeth to other people not family) beats out a rhythm on whatever is to hand.
She’s a Dabbler witch, she suppresses it for most of the time.
A free spirit with a wicked sense of humour.

The hierarchy of L.A is fascinating especially the witches ….. The Queens are at the top, then their families, then the elements (air, water) Judges, charisma, siphons, scholars, and then the lowest Dabblers, they are the witches that can do it all, but not well.

I love Elizabeth, such a free spirit, nothing much gets her down. She comes from a loving family, has a close knit of friends, and gets to jam with friends, what’s not to love? Her look on life “the haves” these are people who are poor, but they are rich in love, family and (have a rich life) “the have-nots” these are the rich, they only have artificial friends and empty lives, and the “clingers” these are the people who cling to the rich!!

I took a while to warm up to Eagle, his past was littered with brutal beatings and vicious put downs. His father the king was literally a beast!! So I could see why he was so rigid. I was surprised he was friends with the band he manages (I thought he’d be too uptight for musicians) his wanting to bring his family and people up to date, but in a kinder way had me smiling. He’s totally opposite of his tyrant of a father/king.

They first meet in the street, she’s playing with friends (bongo drums) they see each other, both swear there is a connection, but neither go for it.

We also have the never ending debate on whether shifters should come out to the world. Eagle is a firm believer that they should stay hidden. I’m sure it’s going to be an ongoing debate.

It’s well written, flows at a steady pace. I love the formal way Eagle talks, the intense emotions that both pull from each other. Your hoping that Eagle gets his Queen

I have a inkling it’s a spin off from the previous series (Shifter Kings Nashville) I don’t think it’s going to matter if you haven’t read the previous series.
But I’m interested now, I might have to go back and read ?

Short story but packed with lots going on.

Grizz
Shifter Kings L.A. Book 2
by Holly Gunn
Release Date: March 10, 2020

Goodreads

A grizzly who’s out to find a perfect queen.
A shy tabloid writer with a dark secret.
Throw in a meddling ghost, a town full of bear shifters, and a vacation in a Gothic mansion and what could go wrong?

Grizzwold Rochester Ambustus is a rock god (or on his way to becoming one)—and the future king of the Grizzly tribe. He’s also world-weary and determined to find a queen who is as angelic and pure as can be.

Esly Ryan is a witch—she’s just not a good one. Good thing this shy bookworm has a day job that keeps her in shifter romances and puts a roof over her head. While Esly may spend her days spinning tales of happily ever after, her own HEA doesn’t seem to be in the cards.

She’s got a secret.

One so dark that, when she finally meets the king she’s waited her whole life for, it might remind him that she’s not the angel he seeks. She’s the madness he despises.

Note: The second book in the Shifter Kings L.A. series is not short, but it is sweet, sassy, sexy, shift-tastic, and a whole lot of Rock ‘n’ Roll … with a little Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester thrown in.

••••••••••

REVIEW: We met Grizz in “Eagle” (book 1) a singer in a band, managed by his “brother” Eagle. He does cover versions of other people’s songs. But he has a secret, he writes his own stuff (but finds it too personal to publish) he’s happy where he is, he gets to be who he wants, and in thirty days time, he’ll become King of the Grizzly bears.

Esly is a cousin to Elizabeth, (who was heroine in book 1) she loves to read, she loves her books. A romantic at heart, but will that transfer it’s self to writing a book? No it won’t, she can write her blog with no problem, an article for the paper she works at, not an issue, but the artist in her that needs to write a love story has so far evaded her!

He’s been having dreams for the last five years of a ghost called Jane. One week a year, but each year it becomes more and more intense. He is convinced if he can find out about the ghost, he can find the real person after Jane told him she’s a witch and she can astral project.

He is convinced he is in love with her he wants to make her his queen. But he can’t live with a ghost, he needs to find a living person.

But how in the hell can you find her when he doesn’t know who she is?

Her whole life she feels something is missing, she’s got a mental block, something in her past was terrible, so it’s been blocked, but she know something happened. And the scary thing…. she loses time! Sometimes it’s an hour, and sometimes it can last a whole day! Where she goes and what she does Elsy has no idea, but her vault at home holds all those secrets!!

I liked the first book in this series “Eagle” but I loved this one.

Elsy is two sided, although she thinks herself as a dark person and tries her hardest to be light, I see her as light.
Yes she has a secret, yes she tries to keep her family happy, but she has a hidden strength.

Does she find out who she really is? Will she find out why she loses time? You’ll need to read to find out.

Grizz is my favourite character, he knows his potential, he’s just scared to put it out there. Being adopted into the eagle clan, he gained a family, but with physical and mental abuse from the eagle king, it made him turn in on himself.

Loved the idea of falling for a ghost, and had a laugh out moment when they meet in the flesh!

Superbly written, told from both points of view, the author gets the angst and passion across really well.

Like the idea of knowing you’ve got only thirty days once your tattoo darkens you finding your Queen. The faded marks on the female is good, most supernaturals know what the mark stands for, but in Elsy’s case she thinks it’s just a birthmark.

Can’t wait to read the next book “Heavy”, and hoping note books are in the pipeline.

Highly recommend this book.

He’d give up his kingdom for her.
She’s been in love with him since he first held her hand.
But fate has always kept them apart … until now.

Henrietta Richland dropped everything to chase her dreams of being the new guitarist for Shyfter. But just like in real life, outside of her music, she’s running blind. She’s also running toward the only person she’s ever loved.

Heavy Allen would have given up everything for Henry. She wouldn’t let him. And now, ten years later, she’s back in his life, digging her lioness claws into his heart once more. He hasn’t spent one minute looking for his queen, and with twenty-one days to go … he has to wonder, does that mean something?

Full of angst, this beauty and beast are about to get a dose of reality–and it will be everything glorious.

Note: The third book in the Shifter Kings L.A. series is short, sweet, sexy, shift-tastic, and a whole lot of Rock ‘n’ Roll … with a giant beast and a sassy beauty for your reading pleasure.

••••••••••••

REVIEW: Heavy is in the band that Eagle manages and Grizz sings in.

He’s known the guys for a while now, not as long as they’ve known each other, but he’s comfortable with them. He had their back and knows they have his. The names Eagle and Grizz have explain what they are, but Heavy? I did think elephant! But no, he’s a boar shifter!

Henrietta “Henry” is Lion’s sister (first book in the Shifter Nashville series) she’s know everyone a long time, and has had a crush on Heavy forever, but she’s not his mate so she pushed him away until he left!! Why, you ask, well, she was born with a disease that was killing off her senses, until it reaches her blood, and then she’s dead! She also knew deep down she would never be his queen (she has no crown shaped birthmark) so after he left Nashville and his friends, Henry got on with her life, but with a boar shaped hole in her heart.

And when Henry comes back to the group as a band member, fireworks are bound to happen. Both Henry and Heavy can’t help being drawn together, so is the reason Heavy isn’t in a rush to find his Queen standing in front of him? His clan need him though, he has to put aside his wants and needs for the moment, someone else has the same disease Henry has, but unlike Henry, this boar isn’t looking so good. What made Henry survive, when others have perished?

This book although short like the other two is full to the brim with anger and passion. You forget it’s just a short story, but it’s filled with more than just sex! It’s great that we see the couples from the previous stories. It also hints at the previous series, (but not so much that you feel something is missing).

Really well written, it puts an Victorian feel to the books (very much a Jane Eyre novel) but with a modern twist.I loved the character of Heavy, he’s been with us through the last two books, very much a solid and stable character, not much irritates him.

Henrietta is more complex, thank goodness for the prologue as I would have thought it too much for a short story. This story is the saddest of them all (and I wasn’t sure they would get a happy ending) unrequited love, they had been best friends since childhood, first loves, and confidant’s. Almost a Romeo and Juliette type of story. A forbidden and doomed love story.

With every chapter they seem to grow further apart…..

There is also the matter of becoming public, will it be by their hand or unseen forces?

I’ve loved reading these stories and I hope Snake gets a book. I’m also hoping the cousins and roommates get their books too.

Another book I’d highly recommend.

Bishop to Queen by Lexy Wolfe-a review

Bishop to Queen by Lexy Wolfe-a review

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release date July 23, 2020

Will synthetic intelligence evolve to reflect the best or worst of their creators?

Ravenhawk, Cybercorps Corporations rogue synthetic creation, and Viktor Chernovich, a renegade pure human, have joined a secret society known as Caïssa’s Gambit to fight corrupt corporations and a government corrupted by those corporations to protect society from collapse. But another threat, once considered a mere philosophical possibility, lurks behind it all that if mishandled, could spell the end of both human and synthetic futures

•••••••

REVIEW:BISHOP TO QUEEN is the second instalment in Lexy Wolfe’s sci-fi, futuristic, dystopian series focusing on cyborg Ravenhawk, and human Viktor Chernovich as they traverse a world of artificial intelligence. BISHOP TO QUEEN should not be read as a stand alone. I recommend reading RAVENHAWK (book one) first for back story, history and cohesion.

Told from third person perspective BISHOP TO QUEEN is a story line divided into two parts. Part one focuses on a scrappy Russian thief named Viktor Chernovich, as he is saved from execution, and forced to be the companion to Rebeka, an assassin and pilot whose reputation as a killer has preceded her introduction to Viktor Chernovich. But Rebeka has made an enemy of the man in charge, and her life is no longer hers to control.

Part two follows Viktor as he becomes part of a secret society known as Caissa’s Gambit to fight both government and corporate corruption at Cybercorp as the leaders continue to destroy the people he loves. As one of the few remaining pure humans, Viktor’s rogue family of cyborgs (cybernetic organisms), synths (synthetics), VI (virtual intelligence) and AI (artificial intelligence) protect our hero as he navigates a world that is becoming increasingly hostile, leading to war between man and machine. As the AI/VI/Cyborg and Synths slowly become self aware and sentient, the humans are determined to destroy the machines of which they built.

Ravenhawk is a cyborg whose backstory is told in book one RAVENHAWK, a story that focuses on Raven’s developing self awareness, and the small remaining human connection she has to the outside world. A powerful cybernetic organism whose majority make up is synthetic, Raven struggles with what was, and what is. Having spent her earlier existence ‘collecting and preserving data’ for Cybercorp, Raven battles with the memories of the atrocities she was commanded to do.

Lexy Wolfe has built a detailed and complex world of what ifs- a world that continues to see discrimination and segregation; specieism and bigotry; inequality, intolerance, destruction and fear. A philosophical and sociological tale of man and machine; of culture, change, relationships, interactions and values. The corrupted bureaucrats and government regulatory systems force the resistors, the rogues and the gangs to take back what was once theirs including their freedom and right to survive.

For followers of science fiction or fans of movies and television shows there are numerous similarities and the familiarity of Blade Runner, The Matrix, Star Trek, I Robot, and William Gibson’s Neuromancer-the book on which The Matrix was based. A gritty , intriguing and thought provoking premise BISHOP TO QUEEN is a dramatic and tragic tale of a society destroyed by power and control, that ends on a slight cliff hanger-you have been warned.

REVIEW:POODLE is the fourth instalment in KL Savage’s contemporary, adult RUTHLESS KINGS erotic, MC romance series focusing on the members of the Ruthless Kings MC. This is thirty year old, club member James ‘Poodle’ Winston, and Melissa Livingston’s story line. POODLE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line content including graphic violence, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Melissa and James) POODLE follows the building relationship between thirty year old, club member James ‘Poodle’ Winston, and Melissa Livingston. Thirteen years earlier James Winston lost everything, and in the ensuing time has hunted the men responsible, enacting his own form of vengeance. But six months earlier, the Ruthless Kings rescued several women from a sexual slave ring (Boomer #2) including the woman with whom James would fall in love. Enter Melissa Livingston. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between James and Melissa, and the potential fall-out as James struggles with demons from his past, and his need for revenge against those who destroyed it all.

James ‘Poodle’ Winston was only seventeen when his young wife was murdered and their infant daughter disappeared. Brought to the Ruthless Kings MC, James would cultivate a lifestyle that would bring him up close and personal with the men he held responsible for the lives of the people he loved. Melissa Livingston struggles with her attraction to a man she believes despises the ground upon which she walks but James’ hatred for Melissa disguises an unwanted attraction to a woman who has suffered for so long and so much. The relationship between Melissa and James is one of immediate attraction but James refuses to act on his need preferring to continue his search for the men who killed his wife. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including many members of the Ruthless Kings MC: Reaper and Sarah, Tool, Tongue, Doc, Badge, Skirt, Bullseye and Braveheart. The requisite evil has many faces.

POODLE is a story of betrayal, vengeance, abuse, hatred and love. The premise is raw and gritty; the characters are strong, energetic, merciless yet fun; the romance is tender, erotic, passionate and heart breaking.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 17, 2020

Six years.
Seventy-two months.
Over two thousand days.
That’s what I’d dedicated to that guitar-playing a*sehole, Danny Silver.
Now I, Daisy Piper, was left to pick up the wreckage of his love while he ran off with the band to find fortune and fame.

Life went on without him, and a new man soon rescued me from the ashes of Danny, but a part of my heart remained a little broken, no matter who tried to fix it. First loves can’t be forgotten so easily, and when Danny returned to our small hometown in Devon—famous and adored by millions—I couldn’t stop myself from wanting to get a glimpse of the man I’d once laid beside, to see how much he’d changed.

The smallest actions make for the biggest mistakes, and a single look into Danny’s eyes was all it took before I ran. I ran because the spark that came to life inside felt dangerous, and I wasn’t the kind of girl who enjoyed getting burnt twice.

But running from a rock star isn’t as easy as I thought it would be, and with Danny’s sights now firmly set on me again, all I could do was pray that he got bored of the chase. That he thought life in Devon was too slow for him, and that he craved the bright lights of the city, as well as the noise of the stadium.

If he didn’t, I was about to ruin everything for everyone.

Especially myself, and my stupid little Silver-lined heart.

••••••••

REVIEW:Ghost Note begins with long time couple Danny Silver and Daisy Piper out for a walk along the shore. The last thing that Daisy ever expected was for Danny to tell her he was leaving to pursue a music career with his fellow bandmates. Broken hearted, Daisy does the only thing she can……….she runs.

Years later, Daisy finds herself in a pretty good place. She has a gift shop that does well and enjoys the tourists who stroll in and out. She also has a male friend, Ben, with whom she sees regularly. Her anchor, though, is her best friend, Gina, who also happens to be her silent business partner. Gina was also the one who helped put Daisy back together after Danny left and he hasn’t been seen in their hometown since.

Daisy and Gina are together, later, when Gina receives a phone call. Daisy immediately knows something is wrong. Gina tells her that Danny’s grandmother has passed away, which upsets Daisy. They had been close for years, but what infuriates Daisy more is the fact that she knows he won’t show up for the funeral……..because he didn’t even come for his parents’ services.

Daisy and Gina attend the service and then later go to a small gathering. As they sit having a drink, Jackson, Gina’s little brother, runs in with some big news of his own: the one and only Danny Silver is indeed in town. Daisy feels everyone’s eyes on her and the news is delivered. Finding herself a bit overwhelmed by the attention, she leaves and heads out. She later is so restless that she decides to walk down to the beach for some fresh air. She is sitting alone when she sees someone headed towards her. Yep, Danny Silver. The encounter doesn’t go well and Daisy makes her way back home.

Of course, with her hometown being so small, she was bound to run into Danny. And, she did. However, when he finally convinces her to talk to him, things that she thought she knew ended up being a little more complicated than she had ever known. She now finds herself doubting everything that she thought she knew not only about Danny, but about her heart.

Ghost Note is a wonderfully written story of second chances. Daisy and Danny are both wonderfully written. The two had been together since they were fourteen, so the breakup was hard on them both. They had both tried to move on from each other, but when it is revealed that they both had failed spectacularly, you feel your heart melt just a little more. They have mega chemistry, but when truths are revealed and Daisy sees what could have been, and gets a taste of it? It. Is. Palpable. The secondary characters are well written and intriguing as well. I had no idea this is a series, but can totally be read as a stand alone. I will go back and read the previous stories though, because Ghost Note was that good. If you’re a fan of the genre, you’ll not go wrong with this one. Well done, Vicki James!

ABOUT THE BOOK:Release Date July 16, 2020

Is it love or just an obsession?

For Spenser Ingram love is an abstract concept. Friendless and fearless, he happily walks his own solo path. Encouraged by his parents to wield his cold-blooded ruthlessness like a weapon, the boy who never cried grew into a man who regularly makes others weep.

Sent to deliver a message to a local motorcycle club that’s standing in the way of his family’s never-ending pursuit of power, he encounters Poppy Tennyson and is immediately captivated.

For the first time in his life, Spenser wants something for himself.

Unfortunately, a decades-long conspiracy is playing out behind the scenes, and he’s quickly left questioning if his affection for Poppy is genuine or a carefully crafted illusion created by the one person he thought he could trust.

The Dangerous Son is a dark and erotic romantic thriller set in a world where deception is the norm and the truth can’t be trusted.

>> Book One in The Coalition series of interconnected standalones. This series can be read in any order as timelines and characters overlap <<

•••••••••

REVIEW: THE DANGEROUS SON is the first instalment in Zoe Hill’s contemporary, adult THE COALITION dark, erotic, romance series. This is thirty-two year old, assassin Spenser ‘Trigger’ Ingram, and twenty-seven year old, police detective Poppy Tennyson’s story line.

WARNING: THE DANGEROUS SON contains scenes of graphic violence, torture and murder with reference to child sexual abuse, sex trafficking and physical assaults.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Poppy and Spenser) THE DANGEROUS SON follows Spenser Ingram as he is ordered by his superiors in the Coalition to take down Detectives Poppy Tennyson and her friend Detective Bella Archimedes in an effort to send a message to the Samaritan Soldier MC . Spenser Ingram and his family are members of the criminal organization known as the Coalition, and it is Spenser’s job to follow orders or face reprimands from the people in charge but Spenser is caught unaware when he finds himself wanting to protect his target, a target that stirs something deep within the man who believes there is no redemption for people like him.

Detective Poppy Tennyson’s family controls the Samaritan Soldier MC but the recent murder of her eldest brother Oliver forces Poppy Tennyson on a leave of absence where she will come face to face with a killer, a killer sent to destroy what’s left of her world. Poppy’s return to work finds our heroine suspended without cause, and in the ensuing aftermath Poppy’s life will spiral out of control when she is forced to face the reality of what was, and what will never be. With her best friend Bella now in the hands of the Coalition, the Tennyson family enacts a plan where someone will be sacrificed for the good of the cause. What ensues is the life and death struggle of, and the push and pull between Poppy and Spenser, and the potential fall-out as the demons from the past take back what doesn’t belong.

Spenser Ingram has suffered most of his life at the hands of a monster, yet said monster is still wreaking havoc on Spenser’s mind. Without the finality of retribution or revenge, Spenser uses his anger and his pain when the Coalition needs a man to get the job done. Like Spenser, Poppy Tennyson’s past is mired in abuse and pain. Hoping to get revenge against the man who destroyed her life, Poppy finds herself struggling with memories that have taken control.

The relationship between Poppy and Spenser is one of immediate attraction but Spenser’s appearance in Poppy’s life is not by accident but by an order to kill. Poppy knows the dark and dangerous man is a killer for hire but that doesn’t stop Poppy from crossing the line into deadly territory. The $ex scenes are dramatic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, disturbing and energetic characters including Poppy’s siblings-Oliver, Chester, Eli, Archer, Levi and sister Violet; their parents Bennett and Eloise; Poppy’s ex Sebastian, as well as Spenser’s twin Stirling, and their parents Zoran and Sophia. We are introduced to several high ranking members of the Coalition, and additional members of the Samaritan Soldier MC.

THE DANGEROUS SON is a story of betrayal, heartbreak, and abuse; secrets, lies, vengeance, power, family and control. The premise is dark, gritty and often oppressive; the characters are broken and damaged; the romance struggles in the face of monsters, demons, memories and pain.

Stepping up onto my tiptoes, I nip at his whiskered chin, then yank his shirttails out of his waistband. After helping him drag the shirt over his head, I press a kiss against his heart. With a flirty wink, I unbuckle his belt and snap open the top button of his pants. A harsh breath is blown out over the top of my head when I pull Spenser’s zipper down. He grips my wrist and holds my hand in place.
“No expectations, remember?”
“I know.” My knuckles graze his bulge when I flex my fingers to test his resolve.
He hisses when I move my fingers again. My second touch galvanizes Spenser into action. He lets go of my arm and unbuttons my shirt with agile fingers. My black pants are pulled down to my ankles. Kneeling in front of me, Spenser tugs my heels free and helps me step out of them. When he peels my socks off, he tugs my pants to the floor.
“Jesus,” he curses. Every inch of my skin flushes red when Spenser drags his nose from my knee to the apex of my thighs. “I want to eat you.”
“Do it.” My challenge hangs in the air until he runs his finger over my panties, right down the slit to the tiny wet spot that’s darkening the red cotton. I thread my fingers through his hair, tugging at his locks as warmth travels from my lower stomach to pool in my groin. “Touch me. Do something. Please.”
Spenser hooks his thumb into one side of my panties and slides them across to expose me. My hips buck as he slowly pushes his middle finger inside me. My legs turn to jelly, and struggling to maintain my balance, I clutch at his wide shoulders and his head. Eyes wide open, I rock my hips back and forth, watching as he works that single digit in and out of me.
“Oh, oh, oh,” I moan when Spenser increases his pace. “Oh.”
My grip on his hair has to be turning painful, yet he says nothing. In complete silence, he works me into a frenzy. I’m close. Closer than I’ve ever been without someone hurting me. Without someone holding a gun on me or restraining me. Without the choice to climax being forced onto me.
As my vision fills with black spots of ecstasy, memories that I don’t want to acknowledge begin to spring from their vault in my mind. My eyebrows draw together, and I screw my eyes shut to block out the monster who lives in my head. I’m on the cusp of pushing Spenser away, so I can hide from the feelings he’s pulling free when he presses his face against my mound and laves his flattened tongue over my clit. As my orgasm rockets through me, Spenser thrusts a second finger inside my heat and fucks me fast with his hand.
“Spenser. God. Fuck. Spenser!” I scream as my pussy detonates. Delicious warmth flows through melike lava. The flames of my climax ignite my mind and blazes across my skin. “Oh. God.”
Once I’ve finished spasming around his fingers, Spenser sweeps me into his arms and deposits me on the bed. He crawls over me, and I finally open my eyes to look at the man who just took me somewhere no one else ever has. The wonder that lightens his green gaze steals my breath. He is transfixed by my gaze, searching my face like he’s trying to read my mind. My lungs ache with the need to breathe, but my body refuses to cooperate.
I’ll let every atom of my body burn if it means I can remain in this moment forever.

Forbidden Desire by Robin Lovett – a Review

Forbidden Desire by Robin Lovett – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple

Description:
Being a sex goddess should be my dream come true—as much sex as I want, with magic powers to heal people, too. Until I realize the enormously strong human I desire most is completely off-limits. My people will put me in prison if I’m caught with a human.

But one encounter together leaves me panting for more. So I kidnap him and take him to an alien sex retreat. I soon discover not only is my big strong human a virgin, his bio-engineering might have made him the largest person I’ve ever seen, but also it made him unable to feel any sensation on his skin.

We’ve got three days to try to heal him with my sex powers before I risk someone discovering us. Then I find out his biggest secret…

Review:

Forbidden Desire by Robin Lovett is part of  her Planet of Desire series.  The title sounds ok, forgive the cheesy description, it’s actually really good.

Graven is or was human, years ago he was experimented on. He maybe bigger and stronger than most humans, but he has no sensation in his body. He can’t feel pleasure or pain, he can’t feel the clothes on his back or the caress of a hand!  And because he was experimented on at an early age, he never got to experience love or lust. In fact his biggest regret is never getting laid!!

He watches Niva daily, watches how she lovingly gives herself to both male and females. He’s in awe of her, he thinks of her as a goddess.  Niva is what we’d probably call a sex therapist, but she uses her body instead of words.

Group sex and public sex are the norm on her home planet Fellamana. In fact monogamy isn’t the done thing, it’s not exactly frowned on, but why stick to one person when you can have as navy as you like. The planet produces an amorous gas that when absorbed into your body, you lose your inhibitions. So an antidote is needed to counteract the planets atmosphere.

Being forbidden to interact with the humans visiting her planet (you can blame her cousin Koviye, for that ban) “Stolen Desire” Niva can only mourn the loss at getting to know the gentle giant who watches her from afar. But fate takes a hand and gives her an opportunity to be with this gentle giant.

I have to admit, it’s pretty good. There is a fair amount of foreplay/sex. But the interaction between Niva and Graven was so sweet. He’s totally besotted with her, is it because he’s a virgin? Maybe, but the more they find out about each other, the more they connect. But it can only be for three days, after that Niva can never see Graven again. As it is, if they are found together then it could be a prison sentence or death!

So what happens after three days? Will they be able to part?   It’s a fun read, it’s a quick read. And I don’t think you’ll need to read previous books.

AMANDA
Men like Nick should come with a warning label… don’t touch. He walked into the shop, smelling like heaven, wanting his first tattoo, and I should have refused his business. Because I knew the moment I set eyes on him, I didn’t stand a chance. Still, I fell down the rabbit-hole with him.
Now, he’s gone, moved on, and the result of our one-night stand is left growing inside me. I’ll probably never see this man again.
NICK
It was only supposed to be a little ink. A parting gift to myself from myself. Because when your girlfriend dumps you for a famous rockstar, you leave. You move on. You get the hell out of town and forget all about her. But I never counted on meeting Amanda before I left. Or the night we shared. Or the mark she left when she put her ink on my skin.
I have to go back. For her.

*INKED is a full-length standalone with a HEA.

••••••••••••
REVIEW: INKED is the second instalment in Sarah Darlington’s contemporary, adult KILL DEVIL INK erotic, romance series-a spin off from the author’s Rock Stars in Kill Devil Hills. This is twenty-three year old, marine biologist Nick Jasmine, and twenty-five year old, tattoo artist Amanda’s story line. INKED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line/series is revealed where necessary. Nick was first introduced in Never Trust a Rockstar (Rockstars in Kill Devil Hills #1) and is Mick’s brother (Crazy .5).

Told from dual first person perspectives (Nick and Amanda) INKED follows the building relationship between twenty-three year old, marine biologist Nick Jasmine, and twenty-five year old, tattoo artist Amanda. Nick had been dumped by Emma, his girlfriend of six months, dumped for a rockstar, and to commemorate his time in North Carolina, Nick decided a tattoo would be his parting gift but Nick never expected to meet the woman that would call to his heart, tattoo artist Amanda. A one-night stand would result in an unexpected pregnancy but Nick had left without looking back. Two months would pass before Nick returned to Kill Devil Hills, and with it, the knowledge that not all was right in our hero’s world. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship between Nick and Amanda, and the potential fall-out as Nick’s struggles with issues of mental health, issues that could easily affect his relationship with the woman he loves.INKED is a story of fate and love. On his last night in town, Nick walked into Kill Devil Ink, never knowing he would leave behind a piece of himself. With his best friend Lou in tow, Nick would return Two months later to discover that life as he knew it was about to change.

We are introduced to Amanda’s fellow tattoo artists Patrick and Finn, and Nick’s friend Lou; and the cameo appearance of Emma Winchester and Caleb Mills (Never Trust a Rockstar #1)

The premise is emotional and sometimes heart breaking; the characters are colorful , charismatic and flawed; the romance is tender, seductive and steamy.
