ABOUT THE BOOK : Release Date November 1, 2020

When journalist Ella Franks is unmasked as a woman writing under a male pseudonym, she loses her job. But having risked everything to write, she refuses to be silenced and leaps at the chance to become a correspondent in war-torn France.

Already entrenched in the thoroughly male arena of war reporting is feisty American photojournalist Danni Bradford. Together with her best friend and partner, Andy, she is determined to cover the events unfolding in Normandy. And to discover the whereabouts of Andy’s flighty sister, Vogue model Chloe, who has followed a lover into the French Resistance.

When trailblazing efforts turn to tragedy, Danni, Ella and Chloe are drawn together, and soon form a formidable team. Each woman is determined to follow her dreams ‘no matter what’, and to make her voice heard over the noise of war.

Europe is a perilous place, with danger at every turn. They’ll need to rely on each other if they are to get their stories back, and themselves out alive. Will the adventure and love they find be worth the journey of their lives?

•••••••••

REVIEW: THE LAST CORRESPONDENT by Soraya M. Lane is an historical, fictionalized and romantic account of women journalists, photographers and correspondents in World War II.

Based loosely on the exploits of two American women correspondents, told from three third person perspectives, American photojournalist Danni Bradford, and journalist Ella Franks, as well as former fashion model Chloe, THE LAST CORRESPONDENT follows three women in the few days before and after the invasion at Normandy, and the fall-out of finding themselves in a position to report from the front lines about the atrocities of war, the French resistance, and the loss of life including the people they loved.

Ella Franks is an American journalist who, writing under a male pseudonym, would find herself fired for lying, before accepting a position working for the Associated Press as one of the first women reporting from the front lines. Women journalists were expected to write about clothing, recipes, and life at home but no one expected women to write about the horrors of war, and the toll it takes on the body and mind.

Photojournalist Danni Bradford, along with best friend and fellow correspondent Andy found themselves in the trenches, with the allied soldiers but as a woman, Danni was unable to get passage and permission to report from the front lines about the Normandy Invasion. Danni and Andy, along with journalist Elle Franks would stow away on one of the medical ships, where they would find themselves facing a tremendous loss before rescuing a woman with close connections to someone they love.

Meanwhile, Chloe, sister to correspondent Andy, tired of waiting for Gabriel, the man that she loved to invite her to Europe, lands in Paris where she will be met with derision and fear. Gabriel works for the French resistance, work that now places Chloe in the direct line of fire.

THE LAST CORRESPONDENT is an intriguing and dramatic story of war and loss; family, friendships, relationships and love. A story about the rise of feminism; the struggle for equality and respect, and the misogynistic attitudes that continue to reign in the armed forces today, but saying that the behavior of the story line heroines is questionable on so many levels, placing not only themselves in danger but the lives of the men with whom they were working.

The believability factor is low. Former model Chloe journeys to France in 1943 in an effort to confront the man that she loves- a journey during the height of the war and the Nazi occupation of France and Italy: Ella Franks and Danni Bradford continuously disobey orders including those of General Patton and Major Cameron, and find themselves swarming the beaches of Normandy along with the tens of thousands of soldiers who died the same day. Surviving amidst one of the most notorious invasions of WWII, Danni and Ella venture on their own, stealing a jeep, to get up close and personal with war and death.

Overall, THE LAST CORRESPONDENT reveals to what extent women journalists may have had to secret themselves, lying and forging their way into a male dominated world at the front lines. Rules would be broken; lives would be lost; love will be found in the most unlikeliest of places. If you are able to suspend reality THE LAST CORRESPONDENT is an entertaining and engaging story of romance and fiction

There are lots of details as to why she feels he was murdered, but you need to read them yourself, it’s part of the fun of this story.

Author Hanna R. Kurz has written a lovely story of new motherhood, with all the funny and frustrating things anyone who has had a child can relate to. Not only are the couple adjusting to their new baby, but they also have the in-law issues so many have. What Makes A Cozy

I’m embarrassed to admit that my perception of cozies was, until recently, rather narrow, but my expectations were rooted in deeper values that I believe a cozy must satisfy. Let’s investigate.

Expectation #1: Single, amateur female sleuth and outsider

Why readers love it: A single lead builds the potential for romance, a dynamic sleuthing duo, and an HEA/HFN ending. Plus, an outsider MC’s trust issues automatically create tension.

Ways to break the mold: Pursue romantic storylines with side characters. Develop pre existing couples. Explore other kinds of relationships. Create resolution in the emotional story arc.

If the lead isn’t an outsider, let new facts, or new people, emerge instead to create tension.

Expectation #2: Small town setting

Why readers love it: People love the community feel, falling for a whole cast of characters in a series. Also, a violent death upsets the idyllic quality that small towns claim and later reclaim.

Ways to break the mold: Create a tight knit group with distinct personalities in any setting. Give characters a common cause or struggle and readers the satisfaction of putting things to right.

Expectation #3: Contemporary history

Why readers love it: Readers understand the rules, technology, and forensic science of their own world and, based on that knowledge, feel suitability up to the task of solving a mystery.

Ways to break the mold: Want to explore a different world or time period? Build it well, immerse readers, and don’t let them get lost. Sci-fi and fantasy aspects blend fabulously into the genre.

Expectation #4: Two words, clean read.

Why readers love it: Whether they please personal preferences and/or support mental health by avoiding graphic descriptions, cozy standards bring comfort and, I believe, deserve respect.

Ways to break the mold: Tread carefully. Warn your audience. Surprising readers with hardboiled scenes in a book marketed as “cozy” is a surefire way to get lambasted in reviews.

To sum, while the cozy genre comes with expectations, they can be satisfied without falling into stereotypes. Explore space cozies, magic cozies, period cozies, brozies, and more. That said, there’s nothing wrong with a well-written, classic cozy. Enjoy.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 6, 2020

Wyatt Batista has sworn off love. Can his new friend and business partner make him believe in happy-ever-after?

Having spent most of his adult life lusting after a man who could never be his, Wyatt Batista resolves to steer clear of love. That’s all fine and dandy, until he meets Nathan.

After an accident sends his carefully planned future off course, Nathan Hardy leaves Seattle in search of new horizons and adventures. When his path crosses that of Wyatt, he enters into a business partnership with a man he comes to admire and respect deeply.

But what starts out as friendship soon turns into something neither of them expected. For Wyatt finds himself falling hard for someone who he believes could never return his love once more, while Nathan becomes aware of feelings he never imagined he would harbor toward another man.

Can Nathan convince Wyatt that he is serious about giving their relationship a try? Or will Wyatt run again, fearful to trust and accept a man who wasn’t gay in the first place?

••••••

REVIEW: I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this bad boy, as soon as I finished book three, -Hunter- I wanted the next in the series!

Wyatt is the continuation of the Twilight Falls series by the brilliant A.M Salinger. The book can be read as a standalone as most of the story and background is given as needed, but I always recommend a series in order. Wyatt, like the rest of the Twilight Falls series, is a gay romance between two men, be aware of this for readers who don’t like this.

Wyatt Batista is sporting a broken heart, but falling in love with a straight man will do that to a gay guy. After watching the man he was in love with move on, Wyatt swears to himself that he is never falling in love again.

Or so he thought…

Nathan Hardy is given a second chance at life. After narrowly escaping a car accident with his life, he vows to himself to live life with no regrets and make every moment count. Nathan won’t settle in life for anything anymore. This leads him to quitting his long time job and breaking up with his fiance, and moving to the quite town of Twilight Falls. There he takes an interview with Wyatt’s company, and after that…well the rest as they say is history..

Or not..

Wyatt and Nathan are friends and colleagues, fast forward a little and poor Wyatt finds himself in the same lust as he was the last time. Falling for a straight guy that isn’t into him as more than a friend. Nathan on the other hand is slowly starting to see Wyatt as more than just a friend and colleague, he sees him as someone that might just be the one for him. Wyatt however, is scared about putting himself out there with a guy that is straight, Nathan wants to explore the feelings they have for one another. Now all he has to do is convince Wyatt he is serious about them being together. Will Wyatt give Nathan a chance? Read and find out!

I loved this! I was a little nervous when the author started with Nathan being straight, I didn’t want to see this as a jab at trying out guys or something to that effect. I was not disappointed. Wyatt is firm in his sexuality, but seeing him vulnerable about starting something with Nathan really makes him relatable to everyday people. Nathan is new to liking a man, but it’s not just any man he likes, it’s Wyatt. I really enjoyed watching the guys work through their issues together and find something that they both needed. Plus we get more Izzy! I love her, and really hope she gets her own story at some point. Way to go to the author on her latest release! Five stars! I can’t wait for what comes next.

REVIEW:DARK CAPTOR is the second instalment in Faith Summers’ contemporary, adult DARK SYNDICATE erotic, dark, mafia romance series focusing on the D’Agostino brothers. This is thirty year old Tristan D’Agostino, and twenty-two year old, assistant therapist Isabella Viggo’s story line. DARK CAPTOR can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the graphic nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Tristan and Isabella) DARK CAPTOR follows in the aftermath of the kidnapping of twenty-two year old Isabella Viggo, the daughter of the Mortimer Viggo, an assassin with the Circle of Shadows. Six years earlier, on his wedding day Tristan’s wife Alyssa was kidnapped and killed by a member of the Circle of Shadows, and our hero has been plotting his revenge every since. Fast forward to present day wherein, Tristan and his brothers will discover that Mortimer Viggo has a daughter, the perfect fodder for war and vengeance. Enter twenty-two year old Isabella Viggo, the woman with whom Tristan will fall in love. What ensues is the kidnapping of Isabella, and building relationship between Tristan and Isabella, and the potential fall-out as Tristan’s revenge comes to fruition, and Isabella becomes collateral damage in a war between families.

DARK CAPTOR follows several paths including the abduction of Isabella Viggo; Tristan’s need for vengeance; Dominic D’Agostino’s fall from grace; and the rise and fall of both the Circle of Shadows, and the Syndicate of the Brotherhood, a Syndicate of which Massimo D’Agostino is hoping to revive.

The relationship between Tristan and Isabella is an enemies to lovers: a Stockholm –esque syndrome romance as is most of the author’s stories in this series of dark Mafia romances. Tristan is unable to keep away from our story line heroine, and as such finds himself falling for a woman who is as broken and lost as our story line hero. As their relationship continues to build, Tristan knows it is only a matter of time before he will have to let go of the woman with whom he is falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, and not without some issues of questionable consent.

The colorful secondary and supporting characters include Tristan’s brothers Massimo and Dominic, as well as their sister of the heart Candace; Isabella’s father Mortimer, his right hand man Dimitri, and Isabella’s guard Sacha.

DARK CAPTOR is a dramatic and intense story line . The premise is edgy and dark; the romance is passionate and provocative; the characters are tragic and energetic.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release date October 23, 2020

After a year filled with drama and danger, Erin and Ivan are ready to focus on the one thing they want the most–starting a family. When she has yet another negative test, Erin worries there’s something wrong with her.

Ivan urges his wife not to worry because it will happen when it’s meant to happen. He hates seeing her stressed out and does whatever he can to make her happy.

But, when Erin’s wayward sister is released from jail, he hesitates to allow Ruby to live in their home. He’s worried she hasn’t changed and that Erin will only end up getting hurt again.

Trouble follows Ruby from the cell block to their front door, and Ivan finds himself faced with an insurmountable problem. If he can’t save Ruby’s life, he’ll lose everything–Erin, the family they desperately want and his freedom.

••••••••

REVIEW: IVAN 2 is the ninth full-length instalment in Roxie Rivera’s contemporary, adult HER RUSSIAN PROTECTOR erotic, romance series, and the continuing story of Ivan Markovic and his wife Erin Hanson. IVAN 2 can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the first book in the series IVAN where Ivan, Erin and Ruby’s story begins.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from first person perspective (Erin) and third person (Ivan) IVAN 2 follows the preparations for Erin’s sister Ruby’s release from prison, and a robbery and assault against our story line heroine that places the focus directly on Ruby. With the approach of the New Year, and the Denim and Diamonds fundraising gala, Erin will be caught off-guard when an old flame warns Erin of imminent danger, and with it more threats against her embattled sister. But as Erin and Ivan struggle to conceive, it is the struggle between head and heart when the threats against Ruby pull Erin in as collateral damage. What ensues is the ongoing romance and relationship between Erin and Ivan, and the potential fall-out as Erin is caught in the cross-fire between Ruby and some very powerful people.

Ivan Markovic is reluctant and worried about the release of Ruby, and what it means for his beautiful wife. Family is everything for the Russian Protectors but sometimes family can be your own worst enemy. Erin will do anything to protect her sister but she has no idea that the fall-out of her sister’s time in prison, is about to affect the people she loves.

Erin and Ivan have yet to conceive, and Ivan fears for the happiness of his beloved wife. As his friends and their spouses begin to expand their families, Ivan is willing to do anything to help his beautiful wife conceive. The $ex scenes are intimate and erotic, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including most of the previous story line couples (Yuri, Dimitri, Alexei,Nikolai, Kostya) : Boychenko: Kir. We get a quick glance at their expanding families, and the potential for heart break for our story line couple.

IVAN 2 is an emotional story of betrayal and revenge; power and control; good vs evil; love and happily ever after. The premise is engaging, edgy and raw; the romance is intimate and provocative; the characters are spirited, sassy and energetic but our heroine continues to be a little TSTL (too stupid to live) in that she is constantly refusing security and protection regardless of the threats against her life or that of others.

REVIEW:CHERISH ME by J. Kenner is instalment 6.5 and novella in the author’s contemporary, adult STARK EVER AFTER erotic, romance series focusing on billionaire Damien Stark, and his wife Nikki Fairchild-Stark. CHERISH ME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from first person perspectives (Nikki) and third person (Damien) CHERISH ME follows the continuing romance and relationship between billionaire businessman Damien Stark, and his wife Nikki Fairchild-Stark. A few days before Christmas Nikki Stark wanted to surprise her husband with some unexpected news, so a couple days alone in Manhattan was the perfect opportunity but their hotel is about to be held hostage, and Nikki and Damien are caught in the middle. With a rare gem in the hotel vault, masked men take everyone hostage, in an effort to force the management to give up their prize. What ensues is the rescue of Nikki ala Die Hard and John McClane style, as Damien finds himself secreted in the ventilation system with an AK47, and several pounds of C4 he needs to hide.

CHERISH ME is a very quick read; a holiday-esque novella of secrets and lies; family and friendships; desperation, infiltration, power and greed. Several of the characters from the author’s over lapping and connected series have cameo roles including Jackson, Stark Security chief Ryan Hunter and Jamie, Dallas and Jane Sykes. The fast paced premise is intriguing and intoxicating; the characters are familiar, energetic and dynamic; the romance is passionate and seductive. Another wonderful addition to the numerous Stark series by J. Kenner

“We’re a lot alike, Stark. I think you know why.”
Damien moved to one of the equipment banks, pausing in front of a set of monitors with labels in multiple languages. He put his hand on the metal and felt the thrum of information flowing under his palm and through the electronic veins of the deceptively plain-looking metal boxes. The equipment like something he’d imagined as a child while curled up reading science fiction.
“I do,” he said slowly, his attention still on the equipment. “You chased your demons for years. Not because they were yours, but because they were Jane’s, too. You both needed that closure. And now—well, now you’re done.”
Dallas nodded. “Instead, I’m wallowing in the joys of marriage and fatherhood. Sound familiar? Plus, I get the occasional thrill by helping out the Feds or WORR,” he added, referring to the World Organization for Rescue and Rehabilitation, an above-board non-governmental agency with a close relationship with worldwide law enforcement. “Sometimes, I even help out a few less visible organizations. But my role is very behind the scenes,” Dallas added. “And I’m okay with that.”
Once again, he focused on Damien. “Like I said. I’m a lot like you.” His eyes narrowed. “Or maybe I’m wrong about that…?”
Damien frowned. Over the years he’d become skilled at keeping his feelings hidden, but he’d lost some of that ability recently. The fallout of opening up his world the way he had when he found Nikki. He’d let people get closer—not simply as colleagues, but as friends.
And that gave them power.
A few years ago, that would have bothered him. Now he studied it out of intellectual curiosity, not fear.
Slowly, he nodded. “You’re not wrong. I spent my life chasing the dream of making myself into more than what my father would have made of me. Of not letting anyone harness me the way he and my coach had tried to.”
“Chased the dream and caught it, I’d say.” Dallas shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans. “I inherited my seed capital. You earned every penny you ever had.”
“Earned? Yes. But I also paid. In blood. In pain. The life I built was an escape pod, jettisoning me out of a past I hated and into a future that I’d created.” He waved a dismissive hand, as if signaling that it had all been easy. Maybe in some ways it had. But mostly he’d worked his ass off to get to the top of the mountain. Which begged the question of where one went after reaching the pinnacle.
He looked at his friend, somewhat amazed that he was having this conversation with anyone other than Nikki or Ryan Hunter, his closest friend and chief operative for all Stark International and Stark Security ventures. Or Jackson Steele, for that matter, the half-brother he hadn’t even known existed until a few years ago but now trusted completely.
He trusted Dallas just as much. And with that realization came the knowledge that Damien had loosened the once-tight grip he’d always kept on himself. He had Nikki to thank for that.
Hell, he had Nikki to thank for everything.

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / KOBO / Chapters Indigo / Google Play

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 16, 2020

From the moment Julie sees her best friend, Gavin, in the airport, it’s like no time at all has gone by instead of months and months. No matter how long they’ve been apart, their relationship has always been steady, comfortable, and decidedly just friends. Even though their meddling parents have hung what seems like unlimited amounts of mistletoe everywhere she goes this holiday season, Julie knows some things will never change.

Gavin is well-aware his family’s wanted him and Julie to get together since forever, even though he’s been friend-zoned since they could talk—and he’s been happy to play that role. After all, as the new starting quarterback for the San Antonio Mustangs, he’s got enough on his plate without adding romance to the mix.

But between playing elves in the holiday bazaar to nights spent one-on-one watching rom-coms or soaking in their town’s hot springs, suddenly the “reverse parent trap” they’ve fallen into is actually starting to work. But this could be one scheme where letting themselves get trapped might be way too dangerous.

•••••••••

REVIEW: THE MISTLETOE TRAP is the second full-length instalment in Cindi Madsen’s contemporary, adult HEART IN THE GAME romance series focusing on the players and management of the NFL’s San Antonio Mustangs. This is injured quarterback Gavin Frost, and pathologist Julie O’Neill’s story line. THE MISTLETOE TRAP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Julie and Gavin) THE MISTLETOE TRAP follows the best friends to lovers relationship between quarterback Gavin Frost, and pathologist Julie O’Neill. Best friends since they were toddlers, Julie and Gavin never once crossed the proverbial line of friendship but with the approach of the Christmas holidays all bets are off when their meddling families push our couple together at every opportunity. From costumed elves to an evening of sexy cookie decorating, Gavin and Julie find themselves swirling in the aura of palpable sexual tension but when the parents try and set up Julie with the someone else, Gavin volunteers to teach Julie in the art of seduction, and stop her from blurting out about her most recent pathological examinations. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Gavin and Julie, and the potential fall-out as Gavin struggles between head and heart, and a life without the game that he loves.

The relationship between Julie and Gavin is a best friends to lovers that struggles in the face of denial. Julie refuses to acknowledge there is something than friendship more between our couple as Gavin struggles to keep control of his desire for the woman that calls to his heart. As the parents continue to push the couple together, Julie and Gavin are either oblivious or reluctant to act on their attraction. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. The sexual chemistry is palpable and spirited.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and fun secondary and supporting characters including ormer quarterback Lance Quaid and his fiancé Charlotte James (The Wedding Deal #1), as well as several team members including Jason Holt, and Coach Bryant; both Gavin and Julie’s meddling parents, and Gavin’s sister Niki ; family friend Kory Cohen; and a cameo appearance by Gavin’s ex girlfriend Kristen.

THE MISTLETOE TRAP is a reverse take on Disney’s™ The Parent Trap with all of the hijinks and matchmaking schemes to push our couple together. An inter-racial love story wherein Gavin struggles with the potential fall-out of a long distance relationship, and Julie battles the heart break of losing her best friend. The premise is entertaining, engaging and inviting; the characters are fun and flirty; the romance is seductive and captivating.

She’s been away at college and when she comes home, I plan on making her mine.

One phone call. A broken voice. Time stands still. And everything changes.

My plans goes up in smoke when I find her.

Drip.
Drip.
Drip.

Rivers run red. My heart stops. My chance with her hangs in the hands of fate. I’ve turned a blind eye to the help she needs. What kind of doctor does that make me? No more. I’ll be everything for her. Doctor. Friend. Lover. Husband.

But I’ve learned, everything means nothing if she doesn’t start caring about herself. Especially when there is more to her now than there ever was. I’ll carve scars into her enemy and break my oath as a doctor to bring her JUSTICE.

REVIEW:DOC is the seventh instalment in KL Savage’s contemporary, adult RUTHLESS KINGS MC dark, erotic MC romance series focusing on the Ruthless Kings MC. This is thirty year old, Eric aka “Doc”, and twenty-one year old, college student Joanna Davis’ story line. DOC can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty . Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.

WARNING: Due to the graphic nature of the story line premise, there may be a number of triggers for more sensitive readers including rape, torture, mutilation, abuse and suicide.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Doc and Joanna) using present day and memories from the past DOC follows several paths including but not exclusive to the attack on the Ruthless Kings MC compound that left many of the members dead or dying; Eric’s struggle to move on from the past; and the building relationship between thirty year old, Eric aka “Doc”, and twenty-one year old, college student Joanna Davis.Joanna Davis knows something has recently happened to her but cannot remember the who, when, how or why. The only bright light in her ongoing darkness is Eric aka Doc, a member of the Ruthless Kings MC, the bikers who rescued her from a living h*ll but Eric is about to come face to face with the destruction of the club’s compound, and in doing so Joanna must work through her own demons to help out where she is able. As many of the members battle for their lives, Doc must battle for the woman he loves, while facing another battle he knows he cannot win. What ensues is the building relationship between Eric and Joanna, and the potential fall-out as Joanna is continually fighting the demons that refuse to let go.

The relationship between Joanna and Doc is a friends to lovers relationship wherein Doc has yet to claim Joanna as his own. Joanna Davis was one of the women rescued from sexual slavery in book two BOOMER, and is struggling to cope with everything that happened. Having both lived through, and barely survived their screwed-up childhoods, Doc and Joanna constantly battle the demons that are continuing to control their lives. As Doc works to save the men and women he has come to call family, Joanna struggles to save the man that she loves. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic, and charismatic characters most of whom we have met in previous instalments. We are introduced to Eric’s mother Rachel, and Brody, a young man who believes Joanna is the woman he loves.

DOC is a raw, gritty, dark and graphic story line of violence and retribution; betrayal and revenge; friendship, family, relationships, loss and love. The premise is dramatic and intense- not for the weak or readers who are easily triggered by graphic story lines; the romance is emotional and heart breaking; the characters are broken and trying to survive.

K.L. Savage decided they were tired of looking for the kind of books they wanted to read. They had an itch that needed to be scratched, and as every girl knows, nothing scratches better than an alpha.

They write about gritty, alpha males, sometimes their dark sides, and the women they love.
If you have the same itch, their alpha males should fix that.
