REVIEW: A RUTHLESS CHRISTMAS is instalment 8.5 in KL Savage’s contemporary, adult RUTHLESS KINGS MC erotic, MC, romance series focusing on the members of the Ruthless Kings MC. A RUTHLESS CHRISTMAS can be read as a stand along but I recommend reading the series in order, or at least the previous three instalments as there is a continuous premise throughout

Told from several first person perspectives A RUTHLESS CHRISTMAS focuses on the few days before the Christmas holidays as the MC prepares for their annual celebration. While their family continues to grow with the discovery and appearance of blood relatives no one knew anything about, new relationships, and the rescue of several children from a suspected pedophile ring, the Ruthless Kings make plans together to select a Christmas tree but an enemy who refuses to let go, returns with a vengeance, and threatens to destroy them all. Once again, two of their members find themselves in the hands of a psychotic killer, while MC president struggles to hold it together for the woman he loves.

A RUTHLESS CHRISTMAS is an ensemble story line where Boomer returns with his Ruthless Kings NOLA MC, and the members pitch in to celebrate the Christmas holiday but vengeance returns in the form of the ‘Groundskeeper’ who is desperate enough to take his shot at the Queen.

There are moments of heart break and sorrow, happiness and fun. The fast paced premise is spirited and enjoyable; the playful banter between characters eases some of the more dramatic moments.

Review:

The Protector by Abigail Owen is the 5th book in her Fire’s Edge series.  I’ve read all the previous books (and loved them) so I’m happy that we are going back to see the guys in this series. It’s on the same time line as her other series (Inferno Rising Series) so we get a few crossovers (again I’m a happy bunny)

We get going with a blast from the past, we get to see how the clans are formed and how this team comes together…. 

Dragons usually live in clans and mostly live with their own colour (we have six clans—gold, blue, white, red, black, and green, and only recently based in America, they’ve come from Europe and Asia originally) 

But under the new rule of their king Pytheios, the King of the Red Clan, and the defacto High King (took the throne to govern the rest of the clans) of all dragon shifters. He wants them to guard the New World) Levi and his team the Huracáns are to settle permanently in America. The Huracáns should consist of two members from each of the clans, twelve in all. But for some reason the King had never sent more…..it’s was just the five of them…. Levi, Finn, Rune, Titus, and Deep (their leader) and Calla, Deep’s mate. 

His team are enforcers (they uphold the laws of dragon kind) 

Rule number one among his kind was humans should never learn of dragon shifters’ existence! 

Levi meets the lovely Lyndi when her brother Drake (his book is the Enforcer) asks to join their team. Levi’s dragon has gone berserk, it wants Lyndi for its own!! 

Lyndi Chandali is never going to mate (female dragons can’t produce babies) so if and when she mates, it’s going to be more of an alliance rather than a love match! Well, she’s not having that, Lyndi would rather be single and alone than marry for the sake of an alliance! So she’s thrown all her love and affection into giving a home to orphaned dragons, she teaches them how to shift a d how to survive, the kids love her, and she loves them, she’s be content if it wasn’t for a certain gold coloured dragon. He makes her long for more, but if she can’t have young, what’s the point of a female dragon?! (Human women who have a mark on their body will turn into dragons and become mates, and they are either hunted and forced into a mating competition or if they are lucky, they will helped and guarded and treasured by their mate) 

You don’t need to read the previous books to enjoy this one, but if your going to read the series, then it is best to start at the beginning as there are a few things you need to be aware of.

The alliance (the governing council) want the Huracán team disbanded, (they don’t answer to the council and they’ve stolen mates for other dragons!) so there are plans to set wheels in motion and disband them. And If a dragon doesn’t have a mate by a certain age, then an illness sets in (they slowly turn into stone) King Pytheios has that disease, but he’s not about to give up his throne (that’s where the spin off series “Inferno Rising” comes in) but it impacts this series too. The dragon clans are dividing and picking sides for an all out war! 

I loved this book, it was great catching up with the Huracán team. Really liked the prologue, as I’ve read the other books in this series and I was curious how the team came about. The banter between the team had me chuckling they work well as a team, but have become more like brothers over the years. 

Levi, the teams Beta has watched as team members have died, mated and turned rogue (see I told you it was a good series) but through it all his feelings for Lyndi have never changed….The story then goes to the present day…… 

The war between dragon clans is escalating (dragon clans are warring with each other over mates and the tyrannical rule of King Pytheios) and the call for dragons to return to their clans has been issued. Levi knows he doesn’t have much time left before he has to return to the Gold King. Can he finally tell Lyndi how he feels about her? 

Lyndi has loved Levi from the moment she saw him, but he wouldn’t look at her as a potential mate for two reasons, one she can’t have young and two, she will be used as a pawn for a political marriage, so why should Levi look at her? But the team is splitting up and returning back to their Kings, and Lyndi is scared that not only will she lose her orphans, but she’ll be made to marry a dragon King of Pytheios‘s choosing. 

The action as usual is fast paced and frenzied. The storyline is very engrossing (I couldn’t put it down) and catching up with the team made me want to go reread their stories again (which I did) 

Levi and Lyndi’s story was just heartbreaking, you could see they were meant to be together, you could see they would be happy. But they’ve been kept apart by rules ….. female dragons are barren!! So, that didn’t mean she couldn’t be happy! Oh hell no! Ever since that first moment in the first book of this series, I have wanted her to get a story…… and here it is ? you’ve had glimpses of how they both feel about each other in previous books. So to finally have their story I had to cheer. 

Fighting their feelings for one another was getting harder and harder. But admitting those feelings (it was like squeezing blood out of a stone!) was even scarier! Levi has to get Lyndi to admit to her feels and to want to fight for their future. But fate may have a different path for them, she’s to be married off to another King! The only course of action for Levi is to leave his clan and King. To go rogue usually carries a death penalty! But Levi is willing to risk it. 

I must have ridden that rollercoaster through the whole of this book, the ups, the downs, and then throwing you for a loop! It was a wild ride, and I’m so glad I got to share this ride with them. 

So do they get a happy ending? Well…. no…. you need to go read this yourself. 

Highly recommended read.

The Relationship Pack is here, the third book in the Kings of Football series by the lovely Adriana Locke. While all the books in the series can be read as standalone books, I always recommend reading a series in order to get the most out of it.

I didn’t want this to end so bad! Hollis and Larissa are such a happy and fun couple, you can’t read them and not fall in love with their story. The plot is awesome, it moves at a steady pace, and when the secondary -not that they aren’t fab- characters come into play, it makes it all the better. Hollis and Larissa are like the golden Disney couple we all simp over, we stalk their social media pages, follow the trends they do, and support them till our last day. Both Hollis and Larissa are such great characters that when their story ends, you want to finish that bottle of wine we all know we popped open, both happy they got their HEA and because their story is over!

I love the growth Adriana Locke gives each of her characters, the lesson they learn throughout the story. 5 out of 5 stars from a loyal reader!

He captures my hand and his eyes meet mine again, a punch of emotion between us. “Pri,” he murmurs. “There are so many things you need to know.”“And you’ll tell when the time is right. REVIEW:BAILED OUT is the second instalment Rebecca Zanetti’s contemporary, adult ANNA ALBERTINI FILES romantic suspense series focusing on attorney Anna Albertini.

“How long has Aiden Devlin been dating your sister?” Detective Pierce expertly switched topics.
If he was looking to trip me up, he’d failed. “Aiden and Tess aren’t dating. I have no idea where he has been for the last two weeks.” It wouldn’t do to lie to Pierce right now, and I didn’t see a reason not to tell him the truth. “Before you ask, I don’t know why Aiden was at Tess’s apartment or if he had any prior relationship with Danny Pucci.” But I was sure going to find out.
“So you don’t know why Devlin’s knuckles were as beat to shit as the dead body’s?” Pierce asked.
Yeah, I’d noticed that as well. “Nope.”
Pierce twirled a pen on his desk. “This isn’t looking good for your sister.”
Considering I hadn’t talked to her yet, I didn’t know how bad it looked. “Did you test her hand for GSR?” I asked the question like I knew what I was talking about and hadn’t binge-watched Law & Order all day Sunday, where is actually how I’d learned about gunshot residue. A homicide case was way above my pay grade.
“She tested positive,” Pierce said, seeming relaxed but definitely not missing anything.
I rolled my eyes. “If she picked up the gun that had been used to kill Danny, then the residue would be on her hand. You know that.” I thought that was the truth.
“I also know that only a moron would pick up a gun in that situation,” Pierce retorted. “Unless she was frightened by Devlin. But I’d have to ask what he was doing there.”
I swallowed. “Did you test Aiden’s hand?”
“Yep. Positive as well,” Pierce said, watching me like a bird of prey. “According to him, he was target practicing yesterday, but that’s all he’d own up to—so far. I’m off to interview him next.”
“What about Tessa?”
Pierce shook his head. “She lawyered up right away with Clark Bunne. Wouldn’t say a word.”
Relief cooled the hot ball of anxiety in my stomach. Okay. Good. “Well, then. I guess I’ll go talk to her and figure this out. Let’s hope you’re as good of a detective as you think you are.” With that zinger, I stood.
“Albertini? You’ll have to talk to her tomorrow,” Pierce drawled.
I stopped cold, still facing him. “Why?”
“Because I just arrested her for suspicion of murder. She’s being processed now.”

REVIEW:MALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS by Sarah Robinson is a contemporary, stand alone story line focusing on twenty- eight year old Dash Winters, and single mother Chrissy Eve.

Told from three third person perspectives (Dash, Chrissy and Rudy) MALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS follows Dash Winters, and his part time gig as the local mall Santa. Doing a favour for his mother, Dash agrees to work as the holiday Santa but the first day on the job Dash meets seven year old Rudy Eve who asks Santa to teach his mother to drive. Trying to keep up appearances, Dash jumps between his Santa persona and that of a man trying to woo Rudy’s mother Chrissy, a woman who is sceptical about Dash’s intentions, and is quick to judge Dash based on initial appearance.

MALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS is a quick read; a short holiday story where all of the names are Christmas related, and the relationship goes from zero to sixty in the blink of an eye. A cute story with little to no romance mostly focusing on Chrissy Eve’s inability to trust a man who has taken a job as a part time Santa. I was hoping for a little more romance and character development for our leading couple.

Lil, Thorn Dex and Cal are thrown together in a funny kind of way that makes their story interesting to read. The guys are hot, over the top alpha’s that protect what is theirs, and now that means Lil. At first, I was really unsure if I was going to like Lil, she was a little flakey and mean. However, the story is fast paced, and the characters do have some growth for a short story, it’s hot and funny with a good plot. I can’t ask for more than that.

Book 6 in the Men at Work series is freaking awesome! All books in the series can be read as standalones and are multiple men to one woman stories.

Ruby, Jameson, Cam and Roman are by far my favorite in this series so far, maybe I’m just a sucker for an alpha cowboy, but this was such a fun read.

Ruby has returned home to her small town Montana, only to learn that her parents have sold her childhood family ranch. Not only have they sold it, but they sold it to three men that she hasn’t seen in years! With a rocky start back home, Ruby finds herself falling for not one, not two but three guys. This story was quick, hot and so much fun to read!

Well, shit. Ruby still wasn’t up to speed on all the changes that had taken place at her parents’ former ranch.
And there she was, finally out of bed—freshly fucked, sober, and mad as a cut snake. And cute as hell.
She might be back in Flood Creek, but she sure as hell had brought a lot of the big city with her. She was wearing what I was pretty sure were called yoga pants, and I had to say I’d never seen a chubby teenager turn into something quite so freaking gorgeous. Not that I’d cared about that in high school. I’d been madly in love with her.
Not only was her baby fat gone but so was her frizzy hair. Now smooth and sleek, it looked like something right out of a fashion magazine, cut above her shoulders and swinging around her head.
“Well, good mornin’, Ruby Lee. How’d you sleep?”
I gave her my best shit-eating grin. Because I could.
Her chest turned a pretty pink color, which spread up her neck, and by the time it reached her face, was nearly a shade of strangled purple.
She’d better check her blood pressure.
She sniffed. “I slept fine, thank you.”
I pointed. “How’s the head? You got any pounding going on?”
She lifted her chin. “I’m… okay. I found some fifteen-year-old aspirin in my bathroom medicine closet.”
I burst out laughing at that one. Sounded like something my mom did, keep shit around the house for fucking ever.
“Let me know if I can call poison control for you,” I laughed.
But she didn’t.
“Get your feet off my father’s desk,” she said, hands on hips.
Cripes. Hadn’t this woman pretty much begged me to fuck her not ten hours ago?
“It’s not your father’s. You know that.”
She pursed her lips. She was hot by any measure, but now that she was mad, she was killing me. I adjusted myself in my blue jeans because I couldn’t stand the torture any longer.
Good old Ruby Lee Whitaker. My first love, who’d dumped my ass as soon as I no longer served her any purpose. I was over it. Really.
But that didn’t mean I wasn’t going to torment her all I could.
“You’re being awfully grouchy for someone who was begging to be fucked just a few hours ago.”
Her eyes widened, and I could swear her face grew even more purple as she looked around to make sure no one else was in hearing proximity.
This was fun. And she deserved every bit of shit I could throw her way.
“I… that’s not true. That’s not how it happened. At all,” she stammered.
For someone who’d been in New York for a time, she sure wasn’t as tough as I thought she’d be. She was losing her shit faster than I could fuck with her.
Almost took the fun out of it.
Almost.
Yeah, I could be a dick that way.
She shook her head as if to clear her thoughts. “Why are you here, with your feet up on Roman’s desk?” she demanded.
“For a homeless person, you’re pretty damn rude,” I said, moving my feet. “And for your information, I’m Roman’s business partner. I own this ranch with him. So this desk is theoretically mine too.”
She gasped. Apparently, Roman hadn’t filled her in on everything she’d missed.
