He’s not totally heartless. And if all the winner wants is an extra ranch hand for a few days, he can do that. Of course, Jack changes his mind as soon as he meets the winner, shy Layla.

As the local accountant, Layla isn’t used to being noticed by men. She’s sure not the type to bid on a bachelor. But when she tells her mom she’s bidding on someone she has a crush on–and her mom shows up to check–she has no choice but to offer for the gruff cowboy. It’s for a good cause after all…

Neither one of them thought the auction would be a success. But Layla finds it hard to keep her hands off the cowboy, and Jack falls for her sweet smile and wild sense of humor. True love should run smoothly, right? Except Layla’s got a secret, and Jack’s right in the line of fire. Does she risk everything for her Valentine cowboy or does she betray those closest to her?

With the winning bid, not to be outdone by her narcissistic mother Janet, Layla finds herself struggling with the inevitable rejection of the man she ‘purchased’ at her friend’s request but Layla is surprised to discover that Jack has much more than a passing and professional interest in our story line heroine-Jack has been eyeing Layla Schmidt for quite some time. Working with Doctors without Borders gave Braden the time to reflect on his life, his family and the woman he left behind, a woman who continues to struggles with Braden’s potential need to run.

The relationship between Braden and Willow is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between two people torn apart by the sins of the father, secrets and lies. With someone else vying for Willow’s attention, Braden jumps at the chance to prove he is the man for our story line hero. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Brianne Prescott’s story is next in Dare to Tease.

DARE TO STAY is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love; a story of secrets, heart break, second chances and hope. The premise is compelling and engaging; the characters are spirited, wounded and energetic; the romance is sensual, tender and intense.

His touch is her sin

•••••••

REVIEW:MY BEAUTIFUL SIN is the second instalment in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult FALLEN SAINT erotic, romantic suspense trilogy focusing on former police officer turned investigative journalist Ellie Holmes, and billionaire investor Devlin Saint. MY BEAUTIFUL SIN should not be read as a stand alone as if picks up after the events of book one MY FALLEN SAINT.

SOME BACKGROUND: Ten years after the death of her uncle Peter, former police officer turned investigative journalist Ellie Holmes returns to her home town of Laguna Cortez when the police reopen the investigation into her uncle’s murder, a return that brings Ellie face to face with her past, Alex Leto, now known as billionaire philanthropist/ investor Devlin Saint, the man who broke our heroine’s heart.

Told from first person perspective (Ellie Holmes), and third person (Devlin Saint) MY BEAUTIFUL SIN follows the rebuilding romance and relationship between former police officer turned investigative journalist Ellie Holmes, and billionaire investor / philanthropist Devlin Saint. Devlin Saint has never stopped loving our story line heroine but Devlin’s previous life was a threat to the woman he loved, so he walked away, leaving Ellie broken and destroyed. Rescuing women and children from sexual slavery is only the tip of the proverbial iceberg for our story line hero but Devlin is keeping many secrets, that if revealed, will threaten his relationship with the woman he loves. As Ellie continues to push forward, not only with the investigation into her uncle’s murder, more skeletons are revealed, including the truth behind her mother’s death, a series of unsolved murders, and the people responsible for destroying her life.

Meanwhile, Devlin struggles to protect the woman he loves while dealing with the fall-out of business dealings in Las Vegas, Nevada, leaving his friend Ronan, and most trust worthy associates to keep an eye on our story line heroine. Someone has targeted Ellie Holmes, and in this, Ellie is a little TSTL (too stupid to live) when it comes to her own safety and life, continuing to uncover that which wants to remain unknown. As the relationship between Devlin and Ellie heats up, Ellie’s best friend and roommate Brandy begins to fall for writer Christopher Doyle, a man who seems too good to be true.

MY BEAUTIFUL SIN is a story of second chances; betrayal and vengeance; secrets and lies. J. Kenner pulls the reader into a tale of friendships, relationships, family and love; unmasking, revelations, confessions and fraud. The premise is intriguing and decadent ; romance is spicy, erotic and provocative; the characters are edgy and dynamic. MY BEAUTIFUL SIN ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

REVIEW:Follow Me Under, more like follow me down the rabbit hole. This is book is as addicting as they come with no chance of stopping once you start reading. The second book in the series, I do highly recommend reading the first book before adventuring into the next. When I finally got my hands on Follow Me Under, I was very excited to see where it picked up with the killer cliffhanger that the first book leaves off on.

Not a disappointment in sight! Follow Me Under picks up right where the first book ends and we get into the nitty gritty of Skye and Braden’s relationship. As the plot progresses, things start to reveal themselves and both Skye and Braden learn new things about each other and their growing relationship. Skye is still coming into herself and her career as well as learning more about the “real” Braden is, not the one he shows the public. Then we still have the mystery of Addison’s and Braden’s past relationship. What isn’t he telling her? Will it matter?

This book is so good! Mystery and intrigue, romance and tension, this book has it all. The main character’s growth has to be one of my favorite parts. You can tell how much confidence and courage Skye has now, in the first book she seems more like a doormat, as well as holding tight to her control in the bedroom. Finally, she has come into her own in her career and has truly learned to trust Braden and give him control.

Finally, when things start to settle, Braden seems to want control on more than just their bedroom activities, and Skye isn’t so sure that’s a good idea. She’s still her own woman, strong and independent, but they love each other. A little control shouldn’t be a problem right?
Then just as you think nothing else can happen another bomb is dropped and the waiting game begins again! Way to go Helen Hardt, you sure know how to keep us coming back for more. Another five star review from this reader!

Mania: A mental illness consisting of episodes of profound excitement, euphoria, delusions, and over-activity.

I deal with highs and lows, but somehow, I end up making the best of it.
My family disowned me, but family is the reason why I’m in Vegas.
Even with my inability to think straight, I end up being in charge of a bunch of runaway mental patients.
Control doesn’t exist if someone is fighting their mind. We have to break in order to mend.
Constantly.
Hence, The Asylum.
A sanctuary for lost causes.
Where crazy can roam free, and compulsions can be let loose.
My nephew says as long as it stays at The Asylum, we won’t have problems.
What fun would it be if problems didn’t exist?

And my problem is in the shape of a dancer, twirling on the front lawn in the middle of the night.
Her laughter is music.
Her beauty is timeless.
And my mania has kicked in overdrive.
When I’m obsessed with something, it’s more than what the normal person feels.
If I can’t have her, no one can.
If I can’t have her, I’ll die.
And I’ll make sure she’ll die too.
I’m a lunatic who has found the living breathing version of his mania.

••••••

REVIEW:LUNATIC is the first instalment in KL Savage’s contemporary, adult RUTHLESS ASYLUM dark, erotic romance series, a spin off from the author’s RUTHLESS KINGS MC. This is Zain and Chloe/Jessica’s story line.

WARNING: LUNATIC deals with issues of mental illness, and contains graphic scenes that may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

SOME BACKGROUND: The Ruthless Kings MC purchased a former asylum in an effort to contain a violent assassin who targeted the members of the MC. With the return of Reaper’s uncle Zain, the asylum will become home to Zain, and a number of former asylum inmates with no place to call home.

Told from three first person perspectives (Zain, Chloe, Jessica) LUNATIC follows the atypical relationship between former asylum inmate Zain, and newcomer Chloe/Jessica. Zain spent thirty-five years in a psychiatric institute, an ‘insane asylum’, having been misdiagnosed and improperly medicated as a child but suffers with severe mood swings and bi-polar disorder, exacerbated by years of abuse and neglect. Forgotten by his family, Zain waits for the opportunity to escape, an opportunity that forces our anti-hero to kill. Upon his run to freedom, at the age of forty-five, Zain finds a home along with several other former ‘inmates’, with the Ruthless Kings MC but their volatile and uncontrolled mental disorders force Zain’s nephew and MC president Reaper, to set up the escapees in their own MC owned hospital asylum. Enter Chloe aka Jessica, the woman with whom Zain will fall instantly and obsessively in love. As Zain struggles to contain his own unstable mood swings, he will quickly discover that Chloe is more than he could ever have imagined.

The relationship between Chloe and Zain is unconventional as Zain’s obsessive and manic need for Chloe is compounded by our heroine’s need to run. Meanwhile, Jessica refuses to remain waiting in the wings, and forces Chloe, on more than one occasion, to to give into Jessica’s control which often over power the more shy and quiet Chloe-in this Zain finds himself falling for two distinct woman who share equally in their disordered compulsion for Zain. The $ex scenes are edgy, erotic and intense, and not without some questionable issues of consent due to the nature of the heroine’s illness.

LUNATIC is a quick read; a dark, gritty and atypical love story-there is no romance only obsession heightened and inflamed by infatuation, mania and mental illness. The premise is unique and unusual for a love story but KL Savage rarely writes commonplace stories- her characters are damaged and broken but in the end, everyone deserves someone to love.

I lean back on my elbows and stare up at the sky. The stars twinkle and blink, and the endless abyss is a blanket of black, with slight hues of dark blue. The open space that allows me to see the countless constellations has me a little more mesmerized than I ought to be. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to see something that hasn’t been blocked by bars on the outside of a window.
I’ll never take anything beautiful for granted.
“It’s such a gorgeous night!” a sweet, harmonic voice says from out of nowhere.
I sit up and glance around, staring back and forth to see if I can spot who the voice belongs to. I don’t see a damn thing. “Shit, maybe Reaper is right. I don’t need to be drinking right now.” I set the beer down and rub my eyes, fucking exhausted. It’s hard to sleep when my mind is always on, constantly with the thoughts, and battling the urge to not fucking lose it.
A giggle from my left wakes me up. I stand and run down the steps, wondering where the hell it is coming from.
“So much space!” The angelic tone is a song filtering through the exhaustion.
She’s getting closer now. It’s cold out here, and dark. What if she’s lost? She’ll need help. I spin around again, staring over the outline of the cactuses, but then the scuff and grind of sand sounds from behind me. I turn, holding my breath when the faint glow of the porch light illuminates against platinum blonde hair. Her arms are above her head, and she’s smiling as if she isn’t in forty-degree weather wearing a black dress that blends in with the night. Her skin is the color of cream, the kind someone puts in their coffee.
I’m enamored.
I stand there, staring at the most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen, watching her spin and dip like she’s a ballerina. Her movements are smooth and effortless, like waves in the sea, flowing in constant sets of perfection. One arm reaches out, like she’s stretching to touch an object that has her attention, and damn it, I wish it was me. Her back leg lifts and her dress dips low in the back and the material in the front falls over the leg on the ground.
My thoughts start to race, imagining her in my arms in bed, kissing her plump lips that are red from the cold air of the night, grabbing her tits that bounce with every graceful move she makes, and wanting her to be mine.
Only mine.
It’s dangerous when a man like me wants so deeply because I don’t have the ability to let go.
And I know if she were to ever be mine, I wouldn’t allow her to let go.
I’d take her will.
I’d take her freedom.
I’d take.
Until all there was in her world was me. All she could ever want is me.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Radar and Hillary) LOCK AND LOAD follows the building romance and relationship between forty-year old security specialist and computer hacker Murray ‘Radar’ Jansen, and thirty-six year old, nurse Hillary Glenwood. Hillary Glenwood works two jobs in an effort to pay down her student loans but witnessing a brutal attack against a Grand Junction teacher placed our heroine in the direct line of fire. Enter security specialist Radar Jansen, a man who specializes in computer hacking but a man who lives in the same apartment complex as our story line heroine. Ever the protector, Radar makes it his mission to protect the woman with whom he will fall in love but the team at PASS will endeavor to hunt down the people responsible for the attack at the apartments, as well as a series of similar attacks across the country. What ensues is the building but often fragmented relationship between Radar and Hillary, and the potential fall out as Hillary is targeted for who she is, and what she knows.

Hillary Glenwood is an independent and strong female heroine who isn’t afraid to protect those unable to protect themselves but Hillary is cautious when it comes to her heart, and in this, her head and heart battle over the man with whom she will fall in love. Radar Jansen has seen his fair share of troubles in the past, and if it wasn’t for the intervention of PASS owner Yanis Mazur, Radar would probably be in jail, or something worse.

The relationship between Hillary and Radar is one of immediate attraction wherein Radar becomes both lover and protector of our story line heroine. As the number of similar murders increases across the country, Radar and the team at PASS discover a connection, that places our heroine in potential danger. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including most of the team at PASS Security: Jake and Rosie (Hit and Run #1); Dimas and Willa (Life and Limb #1): Yanix Mazur, and Bree Graves. We are introduced to Radar’s father Harold Jansen, and his brother Hugh.

LOCK AND LOAD is a story of obsession and power; of betrayal and vengeance; of family, relationships and love. The premise is intriguing and engrossing: the romance is spicy and provocative; the characters are sassy, edgy and inspiring.

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
Sarah and Elvis can always be found at a charming secondhand shop in the village of North Harbor, Maine. Despite the small-town setting, the daring duo often find themselves wrapped up in murder, but luckily they have help–a quirky group of senior citizens runs an amateur detective agency called Charlotte’s Angels out of the store.

The Angels are hired to look into who is sabotaging cat shows in the state, and they decide the best way to do that is to send Elvis the cat undercover as a contestant. But then one of the cat show volunteers is murdered just before the latest competition, and Sarah and the Angels have to catch a killer in two shakes of a cat’s tail!

Review:

Undercover Kitty by Sofia Ryan is the 8th book in her Second Chance Cat Mystery series. This is my first time reading this series, and I have to say I really enjoyed Undercover Kitty, as it was a fun, cute mystery.

Sarah Grayson runs a resale/repurpose store called Second Chance, and she has a smart adorable black cat named Elvis; together they are for the most part our heroes in this series.  Also, part of this series is a detective agency called Charlotte’s Angels, which have a wonderful group of senior citizens (Rose, Liz, Charlotte and the one man, Mr. P), who reside in Sarah’s shop and investigate cases they are hired for.

Sarah learns that Rose and Mr. P want to use Elvis to be their undercover cat at a cat show, since they have been hired by cat show organizers to investigate some vandalism and sabotages over the last few shows. Of course, Sarah, allows Elvis to be part of it, and makes sure to check out the venue to insure everything is ok, and along the way meets some new people, as well as enjoying the overall cat show vibe.  I have to admit, I totally fell in love with Elvis, especially his cute side bending glances at people, and his total understanding of what people maybe saying or doing.  I really need to go back to the first book of this series, to learn more about Elvis and Sarah.

What follows is an exciting, fun, cute mystery whodunit, with wonderful recurring characters, which kept my attention from start to finish.  When one of the ladies Sarah meets ends up dead, the investigation escalates with Sarah, Angels, and two other local men helping with security, to find the killer. There were a number of twists and surprises that kept changing the game, and Sarah finds herself doing her own investigations.

I really loved the friendly banter and relationship with Sarah, and The Angels, as they were all smart and savvy, with no fear among them.  There is also a slow built romance between Sarah and Mac, which I’m sure will move forward in future books.  I got a kick out of the banners at the show, with all kinds of cat sayings.

Undercover Kitty was a delightful, humorous and charming story, with a fantastic group of recurring characters, as well as our wonderful Elvis, all of whom have a wonderful bond together.  If you enjoy a lighthearted mystery, a smart cute cat, and wonderful heroine, then I suggest you read this series, so very well written by Sofia Ryan
