ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 31, 2020.

I never thought I would get away from the monster disguised as my fiancé. And I certainly never thought my escape would be in the form of a devilishly handsome smirk and a pair of deviously soul-splitting blue eyes.
Mr. Hunt was a contract killer hired to make me disappear, so when he made me an offer, I took it. After a few months of laying low, he promised I would have my life back. But the longer I was with him, the more I wanted to stay. He was charming, sly, and had a dark past that was full of secrets and pain. So how did I end up working contracts with him? How did I end up falling for him? And more importantly, will I get out of this storm alive?

Content warning: This book contains strong adult themes throughout that may not be suited for everyone and may be considered offensive to some readers. These themes include; strong sexual themes, strong language, sexual assault, abuse, and graphic violence

REVIEW: INTO THE ARMS OF THE STORM is the first instalment in Hollis Kay’s contemporary, adult THE STORM romantic suspense series focusing on twenty-seven year old Mr. Hunt aka Killer, and Amara Rose.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Mr. Hunt and Amara) covering approximately one years, INTO THE ARMS OF THE STORM follows the building relationship and romance between Mr. Hunt aka Killer, and Amara Rose. Amara is on the run from her abusive ex-fiance but a contract on her life found our heroine a prisoner in a gilded cage when her would-be killer refused to finalize the deal. Enter assassin and fixer, British born Mr. Hunt aka Killer. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Hunt and Amara, and the potential fall-out as Hunt’s business hits too close to home.

Mr. Hunt is a fixer; an assassin who goes in and does what no one else will do but Hunt never expected to fall for one of his targets, a target that stirs something deep within our story line hero, Along with his ‘sister’ Gabby, and his best friend Luke, Hunt often disappears for days and weeks at a time, leaving Amara Rose confused, wondering if he will ever return but Amara is about to experience the life of an assassin and fixer up close and personal, an experience that neither one will forget.

The relationship between Hunt and Amara begins as a job when Hunt is hired to take down our story line heroine but Hunt quickly discovers that Amara is much more than his intended mark but a woman has seared herself into his very soul. The limited $ex scenes are intimate; the sexual attraction is palpable and hot.

We are introduced to Hunt’s foster sibling Gabrielle Hunt, as well as his business associates and fellow agents Frankie Dunn, Luke Jenkins and his fiance Jade, and their boss Sebastian Ross.

INTO THE ARMS OF THE STORM is a slow building story line that covers approximately one year in the life of our leading couple.Hunt refuses to take down an innocent woman, and brings her home where she will becomes everything he needs and wants, and more. The premise is dramatic, engaging and captivating; the slow building romance is tentative, passionate and seductive; the characters are secretive, intense and intriguing. I will add that although the story line is told in dual first person perspectives there is limited time spent with Hunt on the job, something that may have added a little more suspense to the story line premise. INTO THE ARMS OF THE STORM ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 14, 2021

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. It’s not like I didn’t know what I was getting myself into with Mr. Hunt. When I woke up, I thought we would fall into the same routine.

I was wrong.

The man I thought I knew had been replaced with a distant stranger. If I hadn’t tried to play hero then maybe we wouldn’t be here. And maybe he wouldn’t have blindly invited the enemy in. I thought I had found my happy ending, but instead, I found myself wishing it would end. The freedom I so desperately sought was delayed by the bandages that held me back as I healed. Even if things got better, would we get the chance to rekindle? Or was it too good to be true?

Content warning: This book contains strong adult themes throughout that may not be suited for everyone and may be considered offensive to some readers. These themes include; strong sexual themes, strong language, sexual assault, abuse, child abuse, graphic violence, drug and alcohol addiction, and mental health. This is the second book in a series and ends on a cliffhanger.

REVIEW: ENDURING THE STORM is the second instalment in Hollis Kay’s contemporary, adult THE STORM erotic, dark, romantic suspense series focusing on twenty-seven year old, assassin/fixer Mr. Hunt aka Killian Hunt, and Amara Rose. ENDURING THE STORM should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book one INTO THE ARMS OF THE STORM.

NOTE: If you have not read book one, there may be spoilers in my review.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from three first person perspectives (Hunt, Amara, Frankie) ENDURING THE STORM picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book one wherein Amara Rose, having worked a job with our story line hero, is recovering following an assignment that went all to h*ll but as the days, weeks and months pass, Mr. Hunt aka Killian begins to pull away from the woman he loves, and quite possibly into the arms of his newest trainee. While Killian begins to emotionally and physically spiral out of control, our heroine struggles in the face of betrayal and vengeance, a betrayal that is about to place her in the direct line of fire. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Killian and Amara, while someone behind the scenes executes a plan of revenge.

The sexual and physical relationship between Amara and Killian has been slow to grow but the sexual tension has always been high. Killian has previously refused to cross the line between friendship and something more although he had been hinting at a relationship for a very long time but as their sexual and physical relationship blossomed, a newcomer into Killian’s life begins to take aim at Amara, pitting our couple against one another until the very end. The $ex scenes are intimate erotic and intense with some scenes of bondage and spanking but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word that is often more shock value than anything else.

We are reintroduced to Hunt’s foster sibling Gabrielle Hunt, he son Callum and fiancé Aaron, as well as his business associates and fellow agents Frankie Dunn, Luke Jenkins and his fiance Jade, and their boss Sebastian Ross, as well as the addition of Vanessa Robinson.

ENDURING THE STORM is a story of power, control, betrayal and vengeance; a story of secrets and lies, manipulation and retribution; love and loss. The premise is gritty, raw, intriguing, and haunting ; the characters are broken but spirited; the romance is seductive and hot but struggles in the face of betrayal and pain. Once again, although the story line is told in dual first person perspectives, there is limited time spent with Mr Hunt aka Killian while working or training his new recruit which would have given a better perspective and more suspense. ENDURING THE STORM ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

I threw a paper airplane love note from my window.
First mistake.
I aimed it at a gorgeous stranger and put my address on it.
Second mistake.
Yep. You guessed it. I missed and hit a werewolf instead.
Best thing that ever happened to me?

Next thing I knew, a large angrily attractive werewolf man was trying to get in my apartment. I introduced him to my baseball bat and figured that was the end of things.

Or not.

Because my well-meaning sister became a vampire to cure my immune disorder. Long story. In the process, she got a deadly team of fang bangers to hunt us for breaking their rules. Longer story. A+ for good intentions and a D- for execution, if you ask me.

Re-enter Mr. Grumpy and Growly werewolf. He’s going to be my bodyguard slash kidnapper, whether I like it or not. Apparently, he’s the only thing standing between me and certain death. Swoon, right?

Of course he hates all things vampire. A.K.A. he will take me from undead to dead-dead if he figures out what I’m becoming.

Thankfully, he has completely underestimated my ability to woo him with my adorable innocence, cheery disposition, and extreme powers of modesty.

As long as the feelings stay one-sided, I’ll be fine. Because giving your heart to a guy who is probably going to try to murder you is a recipe for disaster. And come on. When was the last time I made a catastrophic, life-threatening mistake?

REVIEW:I must have laughed through half of that book. The wit was dry and the retorts came back thick and fast.

Penelope Bloom has such a way with words. This is my first book by this author, but if they are all this funny, then I can see her books popping onto my kindle pretty soon.

Sylvie has an immune deficiency, that makes her susceptible to any germ, so she stays indoors as much as she can, reading books, dreaming of a big love affair and having interesting conversations with her cat (with a fabulous attitude and name)

Mr. Grumpy and Growly Aka Riggs is a lone werewolf, grumpy and surly, but always with food in his hand. He spots trouble circling an apartment and goes to investigate, he gets more than he bargains for….. These two meet after a misunderstanding involving a love note (it’s a funny moment and I don’t want to spoil it) and a baseball bat!

Riggs is then keeping an eye on the girl as she smells like a she’s been near a vampire recently, well that’s his excuse and he’s sticking to it!! He keeps an eye out and is rewarded when a vamp enters her apartment building….. Riggs hates vampires (we find out why) and won’t tolerate anyone that associates with them. But rescuing Sylvie and her sister (and a half dead vampire!) seems like a good idea at the time. Getting the pack to agree to letting them stay that’s going to prove interesting.

The cast of supporting characters in this book were truly amazing.

Maisey (Sylvie’s sister) who becomes a vampire in the hopes of saving her sister, she’s so funny and compassionate. Riggs friend Felix is a good friend and is usually around to cause Riggs a headache. Then the coven of vampires which aren’t too keen on members biting humans without permission, so the sisters have been warned to leave the area or face being killed!

The werewolf pack don’t like vamps, they will take them out if possible! But there is a vampire splinter group, they want to do away with the coven, and lead a better life. Not Riggs’s problem, he doesn’t care if both groups of vampires kill each other! But when Sylvie attracts the wrong attention, he’s going to have to step in and protect her! And take her back to the pack!

It’s then a non stop ride. Internal dialogues, snarky comments thrown at one another and situations you’ll either laugh at or worry that Sylvie will meet an untimely end! Really well written and completely different from the usual vampire/shifter stories I usually read.

If you want a laugh out loud read, then pick this one up. But be prepared to be looked at strangely (I made the mistake of reading it in the park!) My sniggers got a fair bit of attention ?

Description:
She was born to right a wrong and to serve justice. Torn from her deceased mother’s womb she knows what is expected of her even before she takes her first breath. Her quest for vengeance starts as a child and determined to see her task to the end, she acts as opportunities present themselves. She is Naranda, daughter of Mysteria and Trance, last of the Royal line of Dragon.

Strafe is the strongest of the Drakes, the bravest and the one everyone looks towards to rebuild their empire. To do this he brings Ranish to his side to advise him, for he was closest to the throne before the Royal line was decimated. With Ranish comes news of a hidden daughter of the House of Dragon, and Drakaina hiding from both man and beast to stay safe. In helping Ranish to find his niece, Strafe becomes guardian to hundreds of orphaned Drakaina that only reluctantly pay him homage. To them, Naranda is their beloved Queen, for she alone is of Royal blood.

In a bid to strengthen the power of the throne and, to do the right thing, Ranish hopes to bring these two powerful Dragon shifters together to create a lasting dynasty. Can he do it? Will they take one look at each other and see only an enemy? Or, will they find a love that has been missing in their lives since the days when Mysteria and Trance lit up the skies with theirs?

Review:

Vengeance Has a Daughter by M.A. Abraham is the first book in her new Drakaina series. I wasn’t sure what to expect when starting this new series, but I was pleasantly surprised at how different this was coming from M.A. Abraham.  I am happy to say that I loved Vengeance Has a Daughter, which was exciting, with an amazing heroine.

This story starts off with a bang, where a group of hunters have murdered an entire family suspected of being Drakons (Dragons).  A couple passing through the area comes across the massacre, and much to the woman’s surprise, a pregnant woman lies near death, and pleads with the woman to cut the baby out of her and save her life.  She then takes the baby girl and becomes the child’s mother. The child grows up, knowing she must find those who killed her family (her real mother and father (Royals) talked to the baby before their deaths, and she learns all about what is needed to be done). When she turns around 11, her adoptive parents are murdered by the same group of hunters, who are looking for the girl, who they suspect killed one of theirs.

Kaina (one of the many names she assumes along the way), slowly befriends other young girls, who are alone and also Drakina; as they recognize that she is of royal blood, and she is their queen.  The girls, and one human ‘mother’ work at homes of the wealthy, cooking and baking; and Kaina finds more of the evil hunters to eliminate in her determination to act out her vengeance.

What follows covers many years, where Kaina teaches her girls, and in time many will find their true mates.  But Kaina will not allow herself to accept any mate, until the last hunter is destroyed. During those years, Kaina’s uncle Ranish tries desperately to find her (his sister was Kaina’s mother), and each time when he manages to telepathically talk to her, she brushes him off.  As the years move on, the Dragon King, Strafe is also bent on finding Kaina, since he has followed Ranish’s obsession, and suspects that perhaps this young lady, who all the other Drakina’s protect as their Queen, is possibly his mate.  There is so much going on, especially as Kaina is a fantastic, smart, tough heroine, and to tell too much more would be spoilers.

Vengeance has a Daughter is a terrific, fascinating story, with a fabulous heroine, and was beautifully written by M.A. Abraham.  I loved Kaina, and many of the young girls who stayed with her, as well as the original woman who took care of them, teaching them how to cook and bake; not to mention the many Drakon men who were able to finally find their mates among the Drakiana woman whom Kaina trained. Vengeance Has a Daughter is the start of this new series, and I for one cannot wait to see what Abraham has in store for us.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 20, 2021

When the livelihood of the Savage Kings MC is threatened, Cannon Erikson steps up. He’s ready to do whatever it takes to win the war the former police chief started thanks to his twin, Conrad’s involvement with the chief’s daughter.

Cannon’s determined to ruin the chief’s political aspirations, starting by backing his opponent in the race for mayor.

Madison Monroe has never had anyone to rely on except for herself. She worked her ass off chasing her dreams, earning a law degree, interning with political campaigns, and now, finally, going after her ultimate goal – making her own run for public office.

Unfortunately, not everyone in this world has the same moral compass as Madison. She’s never dealt with a dirty opponent, one who will cross every ethical line just to hurt her and undermine her campaign.

When the former chief of police comes after Madison with all the resources and connections he still has in the city, Madison will have no choice but to turn to an unforeseen ally.

The Savage Kings MC doesn’t mind fighting dirty.

In fact, for Madison, nothing will stop Cannon from protecting her. Especially when the playboy biker finds himself falling for the stubborn, ambitious woman.

•••••••••

REVIEW: CANNON is the fifth instalment in the contemporary, adult SAVAGE KINGS MC-SOUTH CAROLINA erotic, MC, romance series co-authored by Lane Hart & DB West. This is Savage Kings MC member Cannon Erickson, and attorney/ mayoral candidate Madison Monroe’s story line. CANNON can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but for backstory I recommend reading book four CONRAD.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Cannon and Madison) CANNON follows Cannon Erickson as he is blackmailed, like his twin brother Conrad, by the former chief of police Bailey, as said chief vies for the position of local mayor. Willing to win at all costs, Bailey threatens the Savage Kings MC, and ultimately his opponent in the upcoming mayoral race. Enter attorney Madison Monroe, the woman with whom Cannon will fall in love. As the run for mayor heats up, threats are made against our story line heroine, Cannon becomes protector and bodyguard as the MC backs Bailey’s race to the top. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Madison and Cannon, and the potential fall-out as Cannon and Conrad find themselves facing a future without the woman with whom they have fallen in love.

Cannon Erickson has loved and lost, and believes he is not worthy of Madison’s love. A one-night stand kind of guy, Cannon secretly wishes for more but believes that his is not fit to be on the arm of Madison Monroe. Madison Monroe knows what she wants, and had no idea what she wanted was our story line hero but Cannon’s back and forth, up and down attitude leaves something to be desired especially when he begins to pull away just days before her final run for office.

The relationship between Madison and Cannon is one of immediate attraction but Cannon has been sent to stop Madison’s campaign, and Madison wants nothing to do with Cannon Erickson. Cannon will quickly realize that Madison is all about public perception, and in this Cannon may not be the best choice in her run for office. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate, erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including several members of the Savage Kings MC: Cannon’s twin brother Conrad and his girlfriend Hannah ; prospects Jake and Lucas; Club president Roman and his girlfriend Charlotte, as well as Conrad and Cannon’s parents Harold and Jennifer, and former police chief Bailey.

CANNON is a story of power and control; family and relationships; acceptance, understanding, friendships and love. The fast paced premise is captivating and fascinating; the romance is seductive; the characters are animated and charismatic.

REVIEW: SCORCHED BY DARKNESS is the eighteenth instalment in Felicity Heaton’s contemporary, adult ETERNAL MATES paranormal/fantasy romance series. This is assassin/ dark elf Hartt, and assassin MacKenzie’s story line. SCORCHED BY DARKNESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (MacKenzie and Hartt) SCORCHED BY DARKNESS follows the building but acrimonious relationship between assassin/ dark elf Hartt, and assassin MacKenzie. Hartt is a dark elf who has been hired to take down the King of Death but Hartt isn’t the only assassin on the current payroll, and our hero finds himself fighting for his life against a woman of unknown origins but something about MacKenzie stirs something deep, something he hasn’t felt for a very long time. MacKenzie needs the money to keep her assassin guild up and running but never expected to have to fight another assassin before taking down her intended target, a target who may or may not have been their true mark. As the truth begins to reveal itself, MacKenzie and Hartt are drawn to one another, a draw that places them both in the direct line of fire. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between MacKenzie and Hartt, and the potential fall-out as the true target is about to be revealed.

The relationship between MacKenzie and Hartt begins as enemies to lover but quickly turns into fated mated. Neither MacKenzie nor Hartt believed in fate but like a moth to a flame, the draw was irresistible but someone was about to get burned. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large colorful and energetic ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including a few we have me in previous story lines-Kyter and Iolanthe, Prince Vail and Rosalind, Fuery and Shaia, Lord Van Der Garde aka Grave aka the King of Death Grave and his mate Isla, and Grave’s brother Night; MacKenzie’s best friend and assassin Jasynder aka Syn.

SCORCHED BY DARKNESS is a story of family, friendships, bonds, fate and love. The premise is suspenseful, exciting and intriguing; the romance is seductive and steamy; the characters are energetic, powerful and captivating. Felicity Heaton pulls the reader into another wonderful and breathtaking addition to the Eternal Mates series.

The clock in the grey stone tower to his right continued to chime the hour.
Midnight.
The hundreds of fae, witches, demons and other species crammed into the large square of the underground town swayed, hugged and sung together in a discordant melody that grated in Hartt’s ears as he stood unmoving, the only still thing in a churning sea.
But inside him, it was a different matter.
His stomach twisted and his mind spun, thoughts colliding and breaking apart, emotions threatening to unravel the tentative hold he had on the darkness. It lurked, waiting in the deepest recesses of his soul, a creeping and malevolent thing that hunted for a weakness in him, the tiniest fissure in his will that it could slip its claws into and rip wide open.
He lifted his left hand and absently rubbed the spot over his sternum as acid filled the scraped out and raw abyss where his heart should have been.
He had been a fool again.
Hartt tried not to think about it as he stood there in the square, his back to one of the towering three-storey grey stone buildings that enclosed it on all sides. He tried not to think about her.
Or the death wish he had.
He must have one since he had just come close to stepping into Underworld, a nightclub in London, to speak with his ex. If he could call her an ex. Iolanthe had stood him up on their wedding day, had left him waiting at the grand celebration his family had put together.
Looking like a fool.
The rubbing grew harder as the empty pit ached, his heart attempting to resurrect itself. The temptation to call on his armour was strong. It would only take a simple mental command to the black and silver bands that encircled his wrists and the onyx scales would ripple over his body, transforming his fingers into talons that could easily slice through bone and remove the damned broken thing that passed for his heart, freeing him of its constant torment.
He had been free.
For centuries, he hadn’t thought about her. He had moved on with his life, had stepped off the route that had been laid before him by their parents and trod his own path in the world.
And he had been happy.
He had a friend who was like a brother to him, had founded an assassin guild that had a fearsome reputation and was undeniably the best one in Hell, and he had more coin than he could ever need. He wasn’t short on females either. If the mood struck him, he only had to take a walk through the town that had sprung up around his guild and take his pick of the females who lived in it.
He had been happy.
And then Harbin, a snow leopard shifter who was more like a friend than an employee, had done something reckless in the mortal realm.
And his world had collided with Iolanthe’s again.
And all the godsdamned feelings Hartt had thought long dead had come flooding back.
So, like the fool he was, he had gone to see her tonight, well aware that if her jaguar shifter mate so much as smelled him nearby, he was a dead man.
Worse, he had brought his family’s ring with him.
One she should have worn on her finger.
Hartt raised his hand and scrubbed it down his face, somehow held back a groan as he closed his eyes and shook his head. What the hell was wrong with him?
He blamed Fuery. His brother-not-by-blood was settling into his new life with his fated female, Shaia, a happy ending that the elf deserved after everything he had been through. Not only that, but Harbin was happily mated too. Seeing the two of them with their females was screwing with his head, rousing desires he should have forgotten.
He blamed Iolanthe too. The shock of seeing her again after all these centuries must have jolted something loose.
“She means nothing to me,” Hartt muttered as the people around him swayed and came close to jostling him too.
The square was far too packed. It felt as if every person living in the fae town that occupied a cavern beneath a mountain in the highlands of Scotland was out tonight, crammed into the small heart of it to celebrate the dawning of a new year.
Someone tried to grab him, leaning close to him, and he flashed fangs and snarled as he rolled his right shoulder and shirked them. The big shifter of undetermined species, although he smelled like a wet dog, grunted and shrugged, and grabbed one of the witches instead. She squealed in delight as he lifted her and spun, her petite booted feet coming up and almost clocking Hartt in the face.
He huffed and leaned back to avoid being struck, and the darkness writhed in response to the switch in his emotions. If it had been a living being, it would have smirked. Sometimes, it felt as if it was alive and had a will of its own.
Sometimes, he couldn’t control it, failed to contain it.
Bad things happened then.
Hartt sidestepped and peered at the crowd, forcing his mind back on track. The mission. The reason he had come to this fae town near Fort William.
The intel he had gathered pointed towards his mark being here tonight, somewhere in this dense throng of revellers. While he couldn’t imagine his target celebrating the new year, let alone being anywhere near a crowd of this size, following up the lead seemed like a good way of distracting himself.
He rubbed a hand over his mouth again.
Gods, he needed a distraction.
Taking on this contract was keeping him busy, but at a cost. Fuery wasn’t happy about it. His friend had been on his case about rolling solo on a mission since day one, didn’t care that the client had stipulated that he had to work alone on it.
And that it had to be him who took it on.
Fuery preferred him away from the frontlines, as far from danger as he could get, and while Hartt usually indulged him because he didn’t want Fuery to suffer, he couldn’t do it this time. He needed some action. He needed some space, some time away from the guild. He just needed a moment to breathe.
A distraction.
His gaze hopped over the heads of the gathered males and females, cataloguing them all, discerning their species whenever he could from a distance. The demons were easy to pick out from the crowd with their horns that flared from behind the tops of their pointed ears and the fact they stood a head taller than most of the crowd, as he did. The witches were equally as easy to identify for the most part thanks to their gender—mainly female—and the colourful and interesting fashion they wore.
Neither species were of interest to him.
He kept searching, picking out the vampires he could easily spot, studying them to see if they reacted to anyone else nearby, someone unseen by him. They were all too interested in eyeing up potential prey among the gathered, their crimson eyes following females or males that were clearly inebriated. Easy pickings.
His mark was here somewhere.
Hartt moved again, wove through the people and headed towards a set of broad grey stone steps that led up to a raised walkway that ran around three sides of the square. A better vantage point.
He stopped near the top step and his gaze caught on something on the other side of the square.
A distraction.
Her flame-red hair tumbled around slight shoulders in soft waves as she peered at the crowd. The dark makeup that surrounded her eyes and streaked across her temples made her honey-coloured eyes look stunningly bright as they sought something. Burgundy leather hugged long lean legs and a curvy waist, cupped breasts that had many males staring. She paid them no heed as she frowned at the gathered, a mulish or possibly dissatisfied twist to her red lips.
Hartt studied her in silence, still amidst the crowd as they pushed their way down the stairs behind him, as if his boots were rooted to the stone.
She was unmoving too, her amber gaze serenely taking in her surroundings, charting everything.
His black eyebrows pinched hard as she was forced to take a step back and then turned, drifting down into the crowd in the middle of a group of demons. He canted his head, curious now as he tracked her through the crowd, as she emerged from the trio of demons and left them behind. She slipped through a gaggle of witches and twittering succubi and stopped at the far end of the square, closer to the clock tower.
The crowd was thicker there, stealing her from view.
He growled as he lost sight of her as a large group of males pushed their way deeper into the busy square from the avenue that led to the northern section of the town. Shifters of some sort if he had to guess. They jostled and jabbed at each other, grinned and whistled at several females, gaining scowls from some and sultry smiles and interested looks from others.
Hartt focused and teleported, landing on one of the roofs of the tall dark grey stone buildings. The tight feeling in his breast loosened as he spotted the redhead again, and he didn’t try to decipher the reason why he had felt compelled to keep track of her, why he had felt a strange, almost desperate need to see her again.
He didn’t need to.
Every instinct he possessed told him there was something off about her.
Something wrong.
At first, he had thought she was simply looking for someone she knew, or perhaps she had lost her friends in the busy crowd.
Now, as he eased into a crouch at the edge of the pitched slate roof, he knew better.
His lips quirked into a half-smile.
She had been looking at everyone but him.
Diligently keeping those bright honey-coloured eyes away from him as she had scanned the crowd.
Eyes that now leaped to and locked onto the spot where he had been on the walkway.
A little frown creased her brow as she stared at it, and then her gaze was moving, roving over the crowd as that scowl intensified. Seeking him. He moved a foot to his right, pressed his side to the smoking chimney and peered around it, using it as cover as he observed her.
If he had to guess, he would say she was a fellow assassin.
He realised something else as she looked off to her right and her eyes remained fixed there, tracking something off to his left, at the opposite end of the square to the clock tower.
Hartt looked there too and cursed as he spotted what she had.
She was after the same mark as him.
His violet gaze leaped back to her, and something in the region of his stomach sank slowly towards his boots even as fire ignited in his veins. He had the terrible feeling that taking on this contract had been both a good and a terrible idea.
She was a beautiful distraction.
But he was going to have to kill her.

Like a Boss by Anne Harper – a Review

Like a Boss by Anne Harper – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple

Description:
Antonella “Nell” Bennett is having the worst day of her life.

Long-term boyfriend broke up with her? Check.

Drove through the pouring rain to a small roadside restaurant, only to be told all the tables were reserved for “Couples Night”? Check.

Definitely no longer one half of a couple? Check.

So maybe she got a little heated with the restaurant’s host, and maybe her voice carried a bit as she lamented—loudly—that she’s never anyone’s “plus-one.” At least an attractive stranger comes to her rescue, inviting her to be seated with him, and when it turns out to be one of the best nights she’s had in a while, even ending in an innocent kiss that becomes anything but? Check please.

Fast forward a week, and Nell’s rant has gone viral. Sure, her tiny hometown of Arbor Bay is collectively buzzing over their latest Internet celebrity, but Nell’s no stranger to attention. Drama seems to follow her whether she likes it or not.

But even she never expected to show up to work only to discover her brand-new boss is a very familiar face…

Review;

Like a Boss by Anne Harper was a hoot from beginning to end. It was a fast paced page-turner you didn’t want to put down for fear of missing one of Nell’s shenanigans. She is a pistol of a character who is loud, a little crazy and always finding some form of mischief/trouble to get into.  She absolutely stole the show with every scene she was in and led this adventure without any trouble. I just loved her character and Miss Harper knew what she was doing when she wrote Nell’s character.

Now don’t get me wrong, Quinn is equally loveable but in a much more quiet and steady sort of way.  However, anytime he was around Nell, it just seemed that he found himself in the middle of one of Nell’s outrageous plans. Instead of being annoyed by them or getting angry for dragging him along, he found he enjoyed them.  Even though it wasn’t how he lived his life at all, or was used to these kinds of shenanigans he quickly realized that without Nell around, his life was dull and boring.  Once he realized that Nell was exactly what he needed and found the right way to fix things between them thanks to one nosey and ‘hurricane’ of senior Mrs. McMurray all was right in his life.  I loved the scene with Quinn and Mrs. McMurray where she actually called him a ‘tool’ for letting her go.  That was just one of the many laugh out loud scenes that Miss Harper wrote for Nell and Quinn’s adventure.

There were many more that kept me entertained and just waiting for the next outrageous plan of Nell’s; like them chasing Mr. Wiggly the pig through the mud late at night for a friend, lol!!!!!!, or Nell’s mom tossing her shoe across the yard at that troublemaker Keith MacHaulty for trying to ruin her birthday and snag another video of Nell doing something crazy. Keith is your typical scrum bag type character, but provides a lot of laughter at his own expense as a secondary character thanks to the great cast of well written secondary characters that just added that extra pizzazz to an already well written story.

I’d have to say Miss Harper has a hit on her hands with Like a Boss. It’s a fun, fast paced read that keeps you entertained from beginning to end.  It’s a great way to pass a dull rainy afternoon that’s for sure.

Until next time, happy reading everyone!

REVIEW:SAVING SIENNA is the third instalment in Katie Reus’ contemporary, adult MACARTHUR FAMILY romantic suspense series of novellas focusing on the MacArthur Family. This is PI Sienna MacArthur, and Detective Carson Irish’s story line. SAVING SIENNA can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Sienna and Carson) SAVING SIENNA follows the building romance and relationship between private investigator Sienna MacArthur, and Detective Carson Irish. Four months earlier Sienna and Carson spent one glorious night together but Sienna ghosted Carson the next morning. Fast forward to present day wherein, while working on a case, Sienna is ‘saved’ by Carson. A break in at her home has Sienna calling in a favor from our story line hero, a favor that finds our couple on the run when a couple of Sienna’s clients are murdered, and our heroine is targeted by an unknown assailant. What ensues is the second chance, building romance and relationship between Sienna and Carson, and the potential fall-out as our couple struggle to stay one-step ahead of the person gunning for our story line heroine.

The relationship between Sienna and Carson is one of second chances, of a sorts. Four months earlier, Sienna’s brother, and Carson’s sister were married placing our couple together for one night of fun but Carson never forgot about our story line heroine, and found himself wondering what happened, and where everything went wrong. Sienna MacArthur knows her lifestyle can be dangerous, and isn’t willing to place anyone in the direct line of fire including Detective Carson Irish but Carson knows danger first hand, and isn’t willing to accept Sienna’s excuses any longer. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to Kathryn and Daniel (Falling for Irish #1), Brodie MacArthur (Unintended Target 2); Detective Julian Ruiz, as well as several clients for which our heroine works. The requisite evil has many faces.

SAVING SIENNA is a story of betrayal and vengeance, family and relationships, desperation and murder. The premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive ; the characters are animated and energetic. Another wonderful instalment in Katie Reus’s MACARTHUR FAMILY series of novellas.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 15, 2021

What could be more humiliating than your father telling an almost perfect stranger that you’re single?
I’ll tell you what—proposing MARRIAGE to him!
That’s exactly what my father did.
He basically tried to barter me off like a horse.
Admittedly, said single dude was a veritable smoke show.
Besides being exceptionally panty-melting, he was also a complete jackass.
Until the douche of my baby daddy showed up—and not for a friendly visit—insisting on gaining custody of our daughter.
Said panty-melting jackass rode in on his white stallion, rescuing me from the clutches of the aforementioned douche .
I never imagined Panty-Melter would turn out to be my knight in shining armor.
Maybe Dad’s idea wasn’t so crazy after all.
And this was how I found myself considering that insane proposal.

From USA Today bestselling author, AM Hargrove comes For The Love of Easton, the sequel to the Amazon top selling single dad romance, For The Love of English. This novel features lovable characters, plot twists, and laughs that will keep you up all nigh

REVIEW:Easton is the cutest freaking six-year old of all time!

I loved little English when I read the prequel; For the Love of English, and this novel was icing on an already delicious story. For readers that have not read the prequel, it’s not required to consume Easton’s story and can be read as a standalone. Personally, I always recommend reading in order as you get the most of the story and I never want to waste an author’s time.

English’s story is funny and left me with a sense of happiness when I finished reading it. I think her story is somewhat like the prequel, similar feelings for sure. I was really hating Tristan when I first started the book, but he grew on me as the story progressed. Between his issues with his family, I really wasn’t sure how he was going to progress as a character, but when he forms such a heartwarming relationship with the Easton…Well let’s just say he won me over.

Poor English was dealing with a lot, a pooper scooper of a Baby Daddy that of all times decided now was a good time to fight her for custody, crazy family issues and her own father trying to pawn her off on another man. -That was a good giggle though- I don’t want to spoil anything, so I won’t say much more, however, as much as I loved this story; it does contain some harder things to read. No journey of any character is all sunshine and rainbows, you have to fight for what you want, and fight even harder to keep it. There are moments in this story that are dark and have some domestic violence, so warning for readers that that will trigger. All in all Hargrove delivered another great novel to readers and I look forward to what’s next.
