ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 24, 2021

I’ve been many things in my life.
A liar.
A cheater.
A thief.
And I’ve never had a problem with any of it.
I knew my path, knew which direction I was heading when it was all over—straight to Satan’s lair.
I accepted it, reveled in it, and always asked for more.
Nothing would change me, no one could sway me.
Or so I thought.
I knew I was a monster.
I just don’t know how to convince Cara Gibson that I’m her monster.

REVIEW:THUMPER is the seventeenth instalment in Marie James’ contemporary, adult CERBERUS MC erotic MC, romance series focusing on the Cerberus MC. This is Javier ‘Thumper’ Sosa , and nurses aide Cara Gibson’s storyline. THUMPER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Cara and Javier) THUMPER follows in the wake of the abduction of several women including our story line heroine Cara Gibson, women who are about to be sold into sexual slavery. The man in charge is none other than Javier Nolasco but Javier’s secrets are about to be exposed as there is more to Javier than anyone could know. From rape and starvation, to abduction and imprisonment, six women find themselves caged in cells, as one by one each is taken, never to return. As the story line begins to unfold, we witness Javier’s gentleness when it comes to the women, a gentleness that hides a secret Cara quickly realizes is something more. A rescue by the FBI finds most of the women alive and unharmed but Javier now finds himself a prisoner of the local cartel, and one woman is brave enough to approach the Cerberus MC to search for their former brother in arms.

Cara Gibson knows the trepidation and fear of being sold to the highest bidder having escaped a life in a religious cult. Meeting Javier, and knowing what he does, meant Cara sacrificed one prison for another, until she finds herself falling for a man who was about to destroy her life. Javier Sosa knows that it is only a matter of time before his secrets are revealed, and with it the possibility of losing it all. Falling to Cara Gibson was never on the horizon but Javier knew that Cara was the woman that called to his heart.

The relationship between Cara and Javier begins as captor and captive but Javier is biding his time until he too, can escape, the life he no longer ‘enjoys’. Cara hates Javier for what he does, and the thing he represents but when the truth is revealed, Cara knows that Javier’s job was to protect them all. The $ex scenes between Cara and Javier are intimate and seductive but their physical relationship does not begin until Javier and his colleagues acknowledge the legitimacy of their deeds.

There is large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including number of the previous story line couples. We are introduced to Lauren ‘Lola’ Vos, mercenary Angel, as well as several girls abducted with our story line heroine. The requisite evil has many faces. Apollo and April’s story is next.

THUMPER is a dark and gritty sensitive story of secrets and lies, sexual slavery, misogyny, power and control, revelations and forgiveness. The premise is haunting and twisted; the characters are broken, tragic and edgy.

Forever Starts Now by Stefanie London – a Review

Forever Starts Now by Stefanie London – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
What happens when two people who’ve given up on forever find it in each other…?

Single men are as scarce in Forever Falls as a vegetarian at a barbecue. That is, until Ethan Hammersmith moves in. After his fiancée gave him an ultimatum, he left Australia and never looked back. He isn’t in America to find a new girlfriend, though. He’s searching for the father he never knew. But now it’s like he has a flashing sign above his head that says “available.” Thankfully, the manager of the local diner is willing to give him cover—if only she weren’t so distractingly adorable.

Monroe Roberts, town misanthrope and divorcée, knocked “forever” permanently off her wish list ever since the love of her life skipped town with the cliché yoga instructor. And good riddance. She’s got this struggling diner to keep her busy, trying anything to boost sales…until a hot Australian strolls in and changes everything. Monroe’s restaurant is packed full of women who aren’t there to order food, unless Ethan is on the menu. This could sink her business faster than ever. So—light bulb—what if they pretend to be together?

It sounded like the perfect plan. It hilariously was not…

Review:

Forever Starts Now begins with Monroe Roberts at work at the Sunshine Diner, handling yet another problem.  It does not help when Frank, the cook and her long-time friend, starts in on her about doing something more with her life.  Something more than managing the diner and in line with what she had aspired to do before her life took an unexpected and heartbreaking turn.  To add to an already frustrating day, Mr. Sullivan, who owns the diner, pops in.  Monroe has known him since she was a kid, but that did not help when she heard what he had to say.  It seems that the lack of business and rising costs was forcing his hand to either sell or close the diner.  Monroe did get him to give her a month to see if she could turn things around.  One month…….

Ethan Hammersmith had been in America for a while now searching for someone he only found out about as his mother lay dying almost a year ago…..his biological father.  With nothing more than a name and age, Ethan has made it his mission in life to track down this elusive man to see if he can make sense of his life.  Once Ethan found out that the man who raised him was not his birth father, everything he thought he knew and wanted came crashing down.  Now, here he was in another town searching.  Little did he know how much his life was about to change when he stepped into the Sunshine Diner.  Add to that the fact that he is a dead ringer for Chris Hemsworth and his life will, once again, never be the same.

Forever Starts Now is a wonderfully written story.  The characters are engaging and relatable.  Monroe is a devoted daughter, sister and friend.  The betrayal she suffered at the hands of her now ex-husband had a profound effect on her and sent her reeling.  Ethan had always thought something was off between him and his “father”.  Once he found out what that reason was, his life changed in an instant.  The interaction between Monroe and Ethan was well written too.  There were sparks, but even more than that, there was a mutual respect that shone through.  I also really enjoyed the secondary characters as well.  Forever Starts Now is ultimately a story about moving beyond hurt and betrayal and learning to trust yourself and your feelings once again so that you can embrace your future.  If you are a fan of the genre, you’ll certainly enjoy this one.  Well done, Stefanie London!

A Touch of Healing by Kathryn K Murphy – a Review

A Touch of Healing by Kathryn K Murphy – a Review

Description:
Laura Burton has a secret. One that she has always been able to count on until Carter Price crashes back into her life.

As a paramedic, Laura helps people, but her secret power heals them, or it had until now. She hasn’t seen the billionaire tech mogul since he broke every promise back when they were dating in high school. Now, in the back of the ambulance, Carter’s breaking the rules again when her power fails to work on him. Laura needs to find out why while managing to keep herself and her son afloat on a shoestring budget, when Carter offers her a deal. Live with him and help him recover in exchange for free rent. Can she figure out what has gone wrong while guarding herself from getting hurt again?

A steamy, second chance romance, A Touch of Healing is the first book in the Sisters in Sirens series. If you like strong women with secret superpowers and the men who love them, you’ll love Kathryn K. Murphy’s newest page-turning romance.

Review:

A Touch of Healing by Kathryn K. Murphy is the first book in her new Sisters in Sirens series. Laura can heal with just the touch of her hands! She doesn’t publicize the fact, she just starts the healing process. Laura’s a paramedic. She always wanted to become a doctor, but a failed marriage and a little boy put her dreams out of reach, so she trained hard and helps people in her own way…..

Carter overcame what people thought of him! At school he got in with the wrong crowd and saw him fall from a great height! Prison gave him the wake up call, and a good friend helped him back into the right path. So he was here to say goodbye at the friend funeral! But one too many drinks now has him in plaster and trapped on the town he left behind…..

Laura and Carter are friends who dated brief  until one fateful evening changed all that. And Carter only saw Laura from a distance, until he moved away. An accident brings them back into each others world, but can she  ever trust Carter again?

Romance? Carter had loved Laura for such a long time, and knew he’d blown his chances with her as a teen, but now he’s an adult and he wants another chance! But will Laura give him that chance?

We also have the fact Laura doesn’t seem to be able to heal Carter! Is it a coincidence? Or has she lost her healing ability?

Second chance at romance comes calling for Carter and Laura, whilst convalescing in the town he grew up in he offers Laura a job and home to become his nurse/carer. He’s looking for a second chance with Laura, and he’ll use whatever he can to succeed. They are meant to be together.

Recommend? Definitely, it’s a great read, it is a slow burn romance, so if your looking for instalust you won’t get it here. We also have a love rival! It’s Carter’s assistant, and she really does try her best to split the new couple up! And we have the fact Laura has powers! Will she confide in Carter?

I liked Laura she was a great character, love a little paranormal in with my reading. She has a great network of friends and a cute little boy (and an ex husband who may figure in future stories!) She tires so hard to be a good parent, but on a limited budget and now about to become homeless! But she just puts on a brave face and tries her best.

Carter Was a nice surprise, he overcame his past, he learnt from his mistakes and tried to help others. Becoming a billionaire didn’t really change him as such, but if it hadn’t been for his old school coach, he probably wouldn’t be where he is today.

This first book in a new series, (sisters in sirens) is all about first responders, but I’ve read and liked a previous series written by this author. (The Firemark Series)

So can Carter convince Laura that they are meant to be together? And can Laura trust another man, after the last man broke her heart?

ABOUT THE BOOK:Release Date June 22, 2021

From New York Times Bestselling author Kristen Proby comes an all new novel in her Big Sky series, Courage. This is the first story in the Heroes of Big Sky, all about men in uniform in Cunningham Falls!

Natasha Mills feels like she’s loved firefighter Sam Waters her entire life. Since she first met him during middle school, she’s harbored a secret crush on her best friend’s big brother. It’s just something she lives with every day—too bad he doesn’t notice her. To Sam, Tash is his little sister’s best friend and that’s it.

Disaster strikes the Waters family, leaving Sam’s sister and her husband dead, and their young children in the hands of Sam and Natasha. Suddenly, these two are navigating the loss of people they loved, while trying to figure out parenthood together. The grief is devastating, and raising twins is harder than either of them bargained for. But in working together, and leaning on each other, Sam and Tash learn that family comes in all different shapes and sizes.

The more time he spends with Natasha though, the more Sam realizes just how sweet and sexy she really is. He finds himself slowly but surely falling for her. But when the time comes for him to let her go—will he be able to walk away from the family he’s helped build?

••••••••

REVIEW: COURAGE is the first instalment in Kristen Proby’s contemporary, adult HEROES OF BIG SKY erotic, romance series-a spin off from the author’s BIG SKY series. This is Cunningham Falls firefighter Sam Waters, and manicurist Natasha Mills’ story line. COURAGE can be read as a stand alone-you do not have to have read the previous series but several characters cross over for familiarity and cohesion.

Told from dual first person perspective (Natasha and Sam) COURAGE follows in the wake of the death of Sam’s sister Monica and her husband Rich, leaving five year old twins Kevin and Kelsey in the custody of Sam, and Natasha Mills. Instant parenthood and the fallout of grief and loss find Natasha battling with her new direction in life until Sam moves in to help co-parent the twins but all is not going according to plan as the twins struggle with their new normal, and Sam’s decision to follow his dream. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Sam and Natasha, and the potential fall-out when Sam moves leaving his family behind.

Natasha Mills has had a crush on Sam Waters for most of her life but thrown together as an instant family was something she never expected. Ill-prepared for co-parenting two five year old twins, Natasha feels her dependence upon Sam and others proves she is not ready but the biggest shock comes when she finds herself a single parent, alone with no support from the man that she loves. Natasha will give up everything to raise her best friend’s children, while Sam continues forward with his new friendships and life. Sam Waters has always wanted to work for the Seattle FD, and his dream is about to come true at the expense of leaving his new family behind but when the reality of the situation finds Sam facing life on his own, our hero makes a decision that will affect their future going forward.

The relationship between Natasha and Sam is a friends to lovers forced together by circumstance and loss but a few months later, their long distance relationship is about to implode when Natasha is left behind to deal with the fall-out of everything and more. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Several characters from the author’s BIG SKY series cross over for familiarity as well as the introduction of Natasha’s estranged brother Gage.

COURAGE is a story of loss, grief, forgiveness and moving forward; a story of family, friendships, and sense of hopelessness and struggle when everything begins to spiral out of control. The premise is heart breaking and emotional; the romance is captivating; the characters are energetic and enthusiastic but struggling in the face of overwhelming loss, a lack of communication, and new found responsibility.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 22, 2021

“Play for me, Juliet…”

Those four words whispered in my ear again and again until I craved what I used to fear.
Such a simple demand from my captor—the man who stole me and refused to tell me why he wouldn’t let me go.

I was his.

He made me need him, just as much as he needed me.
I broke all the rules of the golden prison he put me in.

During the day he ruled his dark, seedy world.
His subjects and me.

During the night—he bowed before my feet.

Have you ever wondered what happened to the villains in all the fairy tales you read?
You’ll soon find out.

It all started when he kidnapped me and made me his pet.
And it all ended with me…

Calling him master.

REVIEW:FALLING FOR THE VILLAIN is the second instalment in the contemporary, adult, dark, Mafia, romantic suspense series co-authored by M. Robinson and Rachel Van Dyken. This is businessman Donovan, and Mafia Princess Juliet Sinacore’s story line. FALLING FOR THE VILLAIN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Juliet is Romeo Sincadore’s sister (Mafia Casinova)

WARNING: Due to the graphic nature of the story line content there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

NOTE: The cover blurb, image and story line content have changed since the original inception.

Told from three first person perspectives (Donovan, Juliet, Romeo) using present day and memories from the past, FALLING FOR THE VILLAIN focuses on the master/slave relationship between Donovan and Juliet, the twenty-two year old princess of the Sinacore Mafia family. Juliet Sinacore is a captive to be beaten and broken, and eventually sold to the highest bidder but Donovan soon realized that Juliet is a part of his heart, and a part of his soul, to be broken and used in whatever manner he chose. A fellow ‘Master’ demanded that Donovan hand over his prized possession but refusing to obey, Donovan found himself fighting for the life of the woman with whom he would fall in love.

We are witness to some of the events of Donovan’s past that formed the man he would one day become. At the hands of his father, he would learn to brutalize and kill; at the hands of his mentor, Donovan would learn to destroy the will, the heart and the sole of every woman he had the pleasure to break.

FALLING FOR THE VILLAIN is a raw, gritty, dark and powerfully haunting and tragic story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, emotional, physical, mental and sexual torture and abuse. FALLING FOR THE VILLAIN is not a story of romance, or hearts and flowers but a story of sadistic pleasure of pain and persecution, torment and suffering, acceptance, revelations, family and love. There are elements of BDSM and obsession as our heroine succumbs to her captor in a Stockholm Syndrome relationship where Juliet falls for the man who is determined to destroy her life.

Once again, if you are susceptible to triggers, FALLING FOR THE VILLAIN is not the story for you.

REVIEW:THE UNKNOWN MAN is the first instalment in Natalie Hanson’s contemporary, adult ZALLA BENNBETT MYSTERY mystery, suspense thriller series focusing on FBI agent Zalla Bennbett.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the storyline premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from third person perspective THE UNKNOWN MAN follows Seattle FBI agent Zalla Bennbett on her latest assignment when a CI’s (confidential informant) children have been kidnapped in the small town of Almeda. Under investigation for something she did not do, Zalla believes the case in Almeda is punishment for sins of the past but not all is well in Almeda, and with it, Zalla begins to piece together a case that goes back a number of years. As the truth is slowly revealed, our heroine finds herself and her husband the target of a twisted mind, resulting in a possible future without the man that she loves. What ensues is the search for a pair of eight year old twins, and the fall-out as our heroine discovers too late, the who, how and what of the people involved.

THE UNKNOWN MAN is an intense and dramatic story of mental illness, murder, torture and abuse; a story of obsession and betrayal, of vengeance and control, of secrets, lies, revelations and loss. The colorful and dynamic secondary characters are mysterious and the perfect foil for our story line heroine. Natalie Hanson pulls the reader into a dark, gritty and haunting story as one woman battles time and law enforcement in her hunt for two small children, and a potential killer who has set their sights on Zalla Bennbett.

I want to emphasize the potential for triggers as some of the scenes are graphic, although not unexpected under the circumstance, but may be upsetting and difficult to read.

Water Bonded by M.A. Abraham – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Apple

Description:
As Hawk and Adriel settle into their search for two Sentinel Guardians known to be in the coastal area, they join a game of volleyball on the beach. Little do they know they are about to meet their Life Mates. They are also the Guardians they had been sent to locate and take to the Elven Empire.

Caia and Thea guard one of the last three remaining portals that allow passage from one side of the Boundary to the other. Caia and Thea know they are being hunted by an ancient foe, but they refuse to leave their posts, not even by imperial command from the emperor.

While the Life Mates begin to get to know each other, the enemy is closing in. As this happens, new information comes to light, and the services of higher powers are called in to help.

Review:

Water Bonded by M.A. Abraham is the 2nd book in her Elven Sentinel series.  Though this is the second book in this series, if you have not read the first book, this does read very well as a stand-alone.  Refresher:  The Sentinels are elves who were sent to live secretly in the human world, and as the parents pass, the children step forward. These elves (pretending to be human) are scattered all over the world to watch over and protect the portals across the land to prevent anyone entering the Elven Empire.  The Elves of the Elven Empire had no idea about the elves sent to the human world, centuries ago, and now with demons determined to discover how to get into the Empire, these elves lives are in danger.

Hawk and Adriel (our heroes) are playing a volleyball game, men and women against each other by a beach, with all human (they do not know that Hawk and Adriel are Sentinel Elves) players.  When the girls are close to losing, they start cheering two friends joining them; Caia and Thea (both unknown to them, are Elves).  Immediately the four of them realize they are their life mates, with the guys having been searching for the women that are part of the protectors of one of the remaining portals.

Once the game is over, the four of them head out to the sea (they are water elves) to a place that is safe for them to discuss the attacks being made on them from Demons.  Once they reach a cave, Hawk and Adriel explain that the Elven Empire is trying to bring back all elves that have lived all these years back home to safety, at the same time destroy the remaining portals.  But first Caia and Thea explain they need to find volumes that might be dangerous if the demons find them. They are able to get help from the Dolphins to stop the predators, as well as finding the books.

Soon Emperor Lothrail, Gabriella and T-Harris enter the human world to review all the papers, with Gabriella setting up a plan to destroy a ship, and retrieve the papers/books. Lothrail is determined to bring all the protectors to safety, as well as eliminate any information that would bring demons to the Elven Empire.

What follows is a race against time to find the volumes and safely bring home those that spent their lives protecting the portals (many have since died), as well as closing them down.  I really enjoyed the 4 main characters (Caia, Thea, Hawk and Adriel), and their romance; it was nice to see both couples accept the bonding for each of them.  I also loved one of the Dolphin leaders, who was fun and helping them.    Water Bonded was another good story line in this series, and as always, I absolutely loved seeing Gabriella, who is a fantastic heroine.

Water Bonded was a short story, that was very well written by M.A. Abraham.  I look forward to more from this series.
