REVIEW:ALL FOR YOU by Jennifer Probst is a contemporary, stand alone, erotic, romance story line focusing on yoga instructor Grant Madison, and advertising executive Ariel Devlin.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Grant and Ariel) ALL FOR YOU follows the building romance and relationship between yoga instructor Grant Madison and advertising executive Ariel Devlin. When The Skies Cry by Steve N Lee – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple

Description:
Sometimes, the one you’re saving is really saving you.

Harley loses everything when his master dies — his home, his best friend, his reason for living. Day after day, he trudges the streets, trembling from the biting cold, whimpering from the gnawing hunger.

Across town, Rachel has an alimony hearing looming and a make-or-break deadline hurtling toward her, yet they aren’t her biggest worries — her autistic son has withdrawn so far into his own private world, he barely acknowledges she even exists.

Luckily, the magic of life is in the surprises no one ever sees coming…

Review:

When the Skies Cry by Steve N Lee is another one of his standalone novels that centers on a dog.  Having read the previous book by Lee, I looked forward to reading this one.  I really enjoyed this book, though I did have mixed feelings, which I will detail later in this review.

We meet Harley at the start, as he doesn’t understand why his owner isn’t responding to him.  The owner is dead, and in a short time Harley finds himself on the streets, desperate for food, and everywhere he goes, no one helps him, and he runs into nasty teenagers who try to harm him.

Rachel, our heroine, has issues fighting her ex-husband for alimony, as she takes care of their autistic son. Rachel has her hands full trying to train her son, who is very withdrawn, at doing questions and answers.  When she takes Wes for a walk in the park, the nasty teenagers make fun of her son, until Harley comes out under the bench and scares the teenagers.  Wes finds himself enamored of the dog, and though Rachel does not want to bring the dog home, she sees he is starving, and most importantly, the dog seems to bring out another side to Wes.

When Rachel can’t find Harley’s owner, she decides to keep him, as she can see the change in Wes.  Harley was a fantastic dog, knowing all kinds of tricks, especially making Wes and even Rachel laugh. In a short time, she will have to fight for Harley, as the deceased owner left a will, but the lawyer knows what is best for the dog, and luckily it turns into her favor.  Harley was an amazingly and wonderful dog, so much fun, and very loyal to both Wes and Rachel.  Wes improved so much, even in a specialized  school, they notice how much more he is talking and even helping others.

Rachel will discover, thanks to Harley, that she has a disease and will need chemo.  She prepares her friend Izzy to learn how to handle Wes, in the event if things go bad.

Now to my mixed feelings.  I thought the early part where Harley suffered was a bit depressing, though I understood that.  The majority of the book was wonderful, however the last few chapters of the end of the book totally turned me off, as it was very depressing and a shock.  The author decided to create an alternate ending that the reader can choose; which I did enjoy and chose. When the Skies Cry was well written by Steve N Lee.

The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate, and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Detective Isabella Walker, Shawn’s new partner Addison Hale; Detective Matteo Garza; tech and surveillance expert James Capelli, and Sargeant Sam Sinclair. The requisite evil has many faces.

When my captor finds out my secret and realizes he married the wrong woman, love won’t be enough to save me.And neither will his obsession.

Deceptive Vows is a dark mafia arranged marriage romance. It contains dubious situations, mature content, and graphic violence some readers might find offensive and/or triggering.

••••••

REVIEW:DECEPTIVE VOWS is the third instalment in Faith Summers’ contemporary, adult BLOOD AND THORNS dark, erotic Bratva romance series. This is twenty-eight year old Mikhail Dmitriyev, and nineteen year old Natalia de Leon aka Adriana Alvarez’s story line. DECEPTIVE VOWS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. There is a slight cross over with the author’s DARK SYNDICATE series with the cameo appearances by Eric Markov (Heartless Lover-Dark Syndicate 5).

WARNING: Due to the graphic nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Natalia and Mikhail) DECEPTIVE VOWS follows in the aftermath of the obliteration of the Alvarez Cartel, leaving Natalia de Leon aka Adriana Alvarez alive, and her body guard clinging to life. Years earlier, the Alvarez Cartel abducted, tortured and murdered Mikhail’s sister, and in the years following our hero sought his revenge. Fast forward to present day where a few months earlier Mikhail’s mother was murdered, leaving Mikhail struggling to survive. Enacting revenge against the Alvarez Cartel, Mikhail sets his sights on taking control by first taking the only daughter of Raul Alvarez. Enter Adriana Alvarez aka Natalia deLeon. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship predicated on mistaken identity between Natalia and Mikhail, and the potential fall-out as Natalia’s secrets are revealed, and the remaining members of the Dmitriyev family are targeted from within.

Natalia de Leon was nothing more than a slave to the Alvarez Cartel, and a handmaiden to the princess Adriana Alvarez but an attack against the Cartel leaves Natalia as one of the sole survivors, and a case of mistaken identity, finds our heroine assuming the role of the Cartel princess. In an effort to take control and assume the top position, Mikhail Dmitriyev kidnaps and marries our story line heroine only to discover that betrayal from within forces Mikhail to reconsider his future options.

The relationship between Natalia and Mikhail begins as a forced proximity, mistaken identity, imprisonment of our story line heroine. Mikhail and his father have plans to take control of the Alvarez Cartel by staking a claim on Adriana Alvarez. Natalia knows that once her true identity is revealed, there is nothing saving our heroine from her immediate demise. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic, aggressive and intense with some questionable issues of consent.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including the appearance of Eric Markov (Heartless Lover 5). We are introduced to Mikhail’s father and Pakhan of the Baranov Bratva Sergei Dmitriyev, a man whose life is nearing the end; Sergei’s sister Sophia, and Mikhail’s half-brother Ivan; Natalia’s ‘bodyguard’ Jose Diaz, caretaker Aleksander as well as several members of the Mexican Cartel.

DECEPTIVE VOWS is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, betrayal and vengeance, murder and blood, dysfunctional family, jealousy, hate and love. The premise is dark, haunting and raw; the romance is unconventional, and dramatic; the characters are tragic and impassioned.

I will add that Deceptive Vows seems more at home with the Dark Syndicate series than the Blood and Thorns series, as B&T is currently labelled a duet.

Between Bloode and Stone by Marie Harte-a review

BETWEEN BLOODE AND STONE (Between the Shadows 1) by Marie Harte

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo / Google Play /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 19, 2021

Cursed long ago to check their growing power, vampires can only coexist in small groups. Yet despite their many conflicts, those Of the Bloode possess similar traits. All vampires, no matter where they came from, are male. They can go unnoticed by humans unless they wish otherwise, and they can’t survive sunlight.

Mormo, servant of the goddess Hecate, has created a small, new bloode clan at her behest. The six vampires he commands are rough, ill-disciplined, and mean, and they fail to follow orders on a daily basis. But they’re needed. Something big and bad is coming. Hecate, goddess of death, magic, and gateways, has a duty to guard the borders of the mortal world. She knows that without a strong force to contain the threat, chaos will come, destroying everything in its wake.

Hecate’s secret weapons are those Of the Bloode—vampires. Though they refuse to worship anything but themselves, she loves their wild ways. In order to battle gods and monsters and survive, they’ll need ferocity, inner strength, and something to fight for. Because there is nothing so dangerous as a predator who loves, and those Of the Bloode protect what’s theirs at all costs, in undeath and beyond.

And Varujan of the Night Bloode has just found the one female he can’t do without

•••••••

REVIEW:  BETWEEN BLOODE AND STONE is the first instalment in Marie Harte’s contemporary, adult BETWEEN THE SHADOWS paranormal/fantasy romance series. This is vampire Varujan (Varu) of the Crimson Veil, and dusk elf/fae Faraine ‘Fara’ de Cloche Jherag’s story line.

Told from several third person perspectives including Fara and Varu, BETWEEN BLOODE AND STONE follows Faraine ‘Fara’ de Cloche Jherag as she is tasked with retrieving the remaining Bloode Stone, a stone thought to bring the ‘owner’ immense power but her brother Onvyr’s recent activity has stirred the ire of a local vampire clan, and placed a target on the sibling duo. Enter vampire Varujan of the Crimson Veil, and the vampire with whom Fara will fall in love. What ensues is the fated relationship between Fara and Varu, and the potential fall-out as a powerful vampire sire demands the return of Fara and Onvyr, and the Bloode Stone known to be in their possession.

Varujan is a direct descendant of the Primus, the original vampire, and as such is more powerful than most. The Bloode Stones, thought to be the tears of the Primus, call to the direct descendants, and the remaining Stone is calling to our story line hero but Fara needs to protect her brother from the wrath of a vampire master, and in this, our heroine finds herself battling between head and heart, between brother and mate, when the final battle ensues. Fara is the current holder of the final Bloode Stone, but its’ rightful owner is but a heartbeat away.

The relationship between Fara and Varu is an enemies to lovers in which Fara is determined to protect her brother but in doing so is pulled towards the aura of our story line hero. Varu believes vampires do not fall in love, and in this, believes his desire to mate is based on need and lust. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting character including Varu’s housemates and fellow vampires: Khent, Rolf, Kraft, Orion, and Duncan, as well as magician Mormo, housekeeper Bella, and Fara’s brother and dark elf Onvyr. The requisite evil has a familiar face.

BETWEEN BLOODE AND STONE is a complicated, complex and detailed story line that introduces the players, the history, and the background of the history of vampires, and their fight for power and control. Marie Harte pulls together several supernatural entities including vampires, fae, elves, lycan, gods, goddesses, magir and elementals, and the reveal of ten tribes of vampires all descended from the vampire Primus. Some of the story line bears a striking familiarity and resemblance to other popular vampire / shifter series, and in this, I kept waiting for the appearance of certain characters 😉 . The fast paced premise is entertaining and captivating; the romance is fated and seductive; the characters are fun, powerful, energetic and charismatic.

WHAT IF I NEVER is a story of secrets and lies, power and control; splintered friendships, and struggling relationships. The premise is intriguing and captivating, and definitely, as the author has said herself, in the same vein as her Inside Out Series; the characters are curious, secretive, charismatic and embattled; the romance is seductive and impassioned. WHAT IF I NEVER ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

His eyes soften and he catches my hand. “Come here.”
I let him ease me closer, and when he pulls me onto his lap again, I say, “Am I going to end up with my hands behind my back unable to touch you again?”
“Not unless you want me to tie you up and tease you.”
There’s no denying the idea of Dash in control and me at his mercy, is a delicious prospect I won’t even try to deny. And so, I don’t deny anything. Instead, my arms slide around his neck, and I lean into him. “Not this time, Dash. Please.”
“Well now, as long as you say please, you can have just about anything you want.”
With his promise that I can have anything I want if I say please, Dash’s hands slide under the T-shirt I’m wearing and up my back. Molding me close, my breasts pressed to his hard chest.
“For instance,” he says, his voice low, a rough sandpaper tease on my nerve endings. “I’ll lick you anywhere you want to be licked if you just say please.”
I’m really, truly a rather shy person and no one has ever spoken to me so boldly as Dash has this night, but I’m different with Dash I’m starting to realize. More comfortable in my own skin and sexuality. I just can’t find it in me to hide from this or him. “What about where I want to kiss you?”
“Where do you want to kiss me?” he asks, squeezing my backside and Lord help me I can feel the thick ridge of his erection between my thighs and through his jeans I want to be gone now.
“Everywhere,” I assure him.
His lips curve and he says, “Is that right?”
“Oh yes, but you resist me, Dash Black.”
“I assure you, Allison, I am not resisting you.” Somehow him calling me Allison in this moment is more intimate than Allie, and I don’t know why. “I want nothing more than your hands and mouth on my body,” he says. “But you’ll have to allow me to kiss you everywhere first.” He drags the T-shirt over my head and by the time it’s on the ground his hands are on my breasts, and when my hands cover his hands, his finger strokes my nipples.
My fingers catch long strands of his light brown hair and I tilt his gaze to mine. Any control I’d thought to gain in that moment is lost when Dash pinches my nipples, sending darts of pleasure straight to my sex. I moan and he captures the sound with his mouth, kissing me with the kind of passion that a girl thinks she will never know because it can’t be real.
Oh, but it is. It so is.
My hands tunnel into his hair and when his gaze lifts to mine, I find hunger there. So much hunger, and all for me. He catches my hands and presses them behind me, bracing them on his powerful thighs, his arm wrapping my waist, securing me. Watching me now, he cups my breast and leans in, licking my nipple, sensations rippling through me, my sex clenching with impossible need, need for him.

REVIEW:After reading book one, I waiting eagerly for the second book, and this one didn’t disappoint.

We start where House of Dragons (book one) ends…..

So without giving too much away from book one, which you definitely need to read before reading book two. Let’s review book two…..

This book was just as good as the last book. We get more of the plot unwinding and drawing you in. Kerrigan is a half fae half human that shouldn’t be going to be trained as a dragon rider. But she is, and the society needs to accept it. Fordham has to take Kerrigan back to his home to train her as a dragon rider. But people who come to train at the House of Shadows don’t last long! But the society aren’t happy with the outcome, so both Kerrigan and Fordham could be in real danger.

We have a budding romance between the main characters which was really sweet. Kerrigan is fearless in her pursuit of become a dragon rider. It means she will finally be accepted in her world. Fordham is wealthy and arrogant. But he sees something in Kerrigan that melts the ice around his heart.Kerrigan’s group of friends are great, really supportive of her and her endeavours. Always there to cheer her on.

And the world in which they live in, written so descriptively that you could close your eyes and see it all. It reminds me so much of the Mortal Instrument books, a little on the YA but tiptoeing into the Adult read. Also a smattering of How to Train your dragon , the trials and tribulations as Kerrigan tries to bond with the dragon she’s trying to ride! Young love with danger lurking in every corner! Red Masks are the group who want to eliminate humans and half fae and the biggest threat to Kerrigan. There is also other things going on in the background that I can’t possibility talk about ?

I will say it is just a little hectic! It needed to be slowed down just a little, I did get whiplash with the amount of information and action that was thrown at us!

Oh and it ends on a little bit of a cliffhanger!!

But I’d recommend this book and book one for a fun filled action packed adventure, with just a touch of romance.
