REVIEW:A short but really good story.

Marianna “Mari” has hit a wall! Well that wall has her surrounded and she can’t find a way over it!

Ten years ago she lost the love of her life! Ripped away from her, murdered! She’s never really recovered from losing him. But she needs to take back her life, and throwing away her medication seems like the way forward. But once the nights draw in, things seem to appear and make her wonder if coming off her medication was the right thing to do….

Her dream takes her away from her reality, the dreams about the three faceless men who command her body seem so lifelike, they whisper to her, they entice her, they beg her to call to them…..

So is this reality? Is it a product of her coming off her medication? It’s not all fun and orgasms though! They frighten her with their demands, and they may appear to look human, but looking closer Mari discover their true identities. They are monsters!

Fear, Hopelessness and Darkness have been protecting Mari for a long time, and by some miracle they are able to finally be with her. They are going to give her protection and pleasure, but she belongs to them, and they will go to any lengths to secure her and her promise to be with them forever!!

I liked the premise of this book. It takes you on a sensual journey. They are quite a few naughty scenes. Some of it felt a little too much, and if it was a little longer then the scenes wouldn’t have seemed so many.

So if you like chill with your dark romance pick this one up.

This is vintner Archer Steele, and make-up artist/business woman Indira ‘Indi’ Oliver’s story line. CAUGHT BY LOVE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Indi and Archer) CAUGHT BY LOVE follows the building romance and relationship between vintner Archer Steele, and make-up artist/business woman Indira ‘Indi’ Oliver’. Archer Steele doesn’t do relationships, and for the past decade has struggled to forgive himself for the death of someone he loved, and the estrangement from his twin brother Jock, an estrangement that placed hardships on his family and friends. CAUGHT BY LOVE is another story of family and friendships, relationships and love; grief and guilt, forgiveness and acceptance. The character driven premise is edgy yet heart warming ; the characters are animated, stubborn and charismatic; the romance is inspiring and provocative.

Review:

Black Orchid Girls by Carolyn Arnold is the 4th book in her fantastic Detective Amanda Steele series.  I have noted this many times, that I am a big fan of Arnold, having read most of her series, and I love this series, which I feel is the best one yet.

Amanda Steele, our heroine, is a homicide detective in Dumfries, Virginia Police Department.  She is called with her partner, Trent to a scene where a girl (local college student) is found murdered in the forest of Leesylvania State Park.  The dead girl was stabbed 7 times, with the murderer cleansing her body and leaving a black orchid flower on her.  What does the Black Orchid mean: sign of affection, or a dark death wish?

Both Amanda and Trent learn more about the girl (Chloe), especially after they meet her two roommates and find out more information about her ex-boyfriend, as well as students who hated her.  Josh the boyfriend was a suspect, since he supposedly sent her a message to meet him at the park; and another boy was also suspected, since he dropped off someone at the park.  Both Amanda and Trent have their hands full, investigating all the suspects, including another boy and girl who hated Chloe. While deep in their investigation, another girl is murdered, found the same way as the previous girl.  Is this a serial killer?

While deep in the case, Amanda also worries about Zoe, the young girl she is adopting; seems the biological father wants to meet her, to perhaps fight for custody.  Amanda does her best to spend time with Zoe, as she has come to love her; luckily Amanda has friends who can watch her while she is spending long hours at work.  Amanda’s feels the pressure of the case, as well as concern about Zoe.

What follows is an exciting, intriguing, tense mystery that kept me unable to put the book down. There were so many suspects, and even surprises at the end. To say too much more would be spoilers, and this was a very good story that needs to be read from start to finish.

Black Orchid Girls was a very good excellent crime thriller that was suspenseful, intense, and kept us guessing who was the murderer to the end. I loved the team of Amanda, Trent & her Sergeant, as well as many of the secondary characters.  Amanda is a great heroine, and a fantastic detective.  Black Orchid Girls was so very well written by Carolyn Arnold, and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next. If you like mystery thrillers, police procedural, then you need to be reading this book.

Swish, swish.
The windshield wipers were busy at work this morning. It’d been raining since late the night before, and now there was just a whole dreary feel to the day. Dark and gloomy, matching my mood. It was perfect.
Swish, swish.
“Are you nervous, miss?”
I wasn’t responding, because this isn’t how things were supposed to be. I wasn’t supposed to wake up in the middle of the night and find the bed empty. And I wasn’t supposed to have to be escorted by one of our guards down to the apartment building’s gym to find my boyfriend , the guy I loved, the guy who was so not a secret from the entire world anymore, pummeling a boxing bag so hard that his knuckles ripped open every night. It was not right that I had to stand on the side, waiting for him to fight through his haze before he noticed I was there, and then watch as blood dripped from his hands to the floor.
But all of that was happening. Because three weeks after there’d been a kidnapping attempt on me, after he had saved me, everything was just, simply, not okay.
To be more frank, everything was shit. And here I was. This is billionaire CEO Chad Force, and twenty-two year old, PA Savannah Blythe’s story line. TEMPTED BY THE BILLIONAIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Savannah and Chad) TEMPTED BY THE BILLIONAIRE follows the insta lust to love relationship between billionaire CEO Chad Force, and twenty-two year old, PA Savannah Blythe. Chad Force needs an assistant, immediately, having fired his last assistant the night before but Chad is currently laid up at home, and his next applicant calls to him life a moth to a flame. Savannah Blythe is desperate for work. With no job and no place to live, Savannah almost misses the opportunity to work for billionaire Chad Force but her first day on the job finds Savannah more than a l assistant but cook, cleaner, and personal body guard. What ensues is the insta-love relationship between Chad and Savannah, as Chad offers our heroine more than she could have ever imagined.

The relationship between Chad and Savannah is one of immediate attraction but Savannah needed a job, and Chad need to trust the woman with whom he would fall in love. Hours within meeting, Savannah finds herself in bed with our story line hero, a place she is willing to spend the rest of her life. The $ex scene is intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters are limited. We are introduced to Chad’s senior VP of Foreign Investments Marcus Hunt, and Josh Hennessey of the Hennessey group. Marcus and Josh play a pivotal role in Savannah’s first hours with Chad Force.

TEMPTED BY THE BILLIONAIRE is a very quick read; a novella length story of insta-lust to love in which love is proclaimed within a matter of hours. The premise is short, sweet and sexy; the romance is limited to lustful gazes and hot, steamy $ex; the characters are desperate yet likeable.
