REVIEW:  CRAZY WICKED LOVE is the third instalment in Melissa Fosters’ contemporary adult THE WICKEDS: DARK KNIGHTS AT BAYSIDE erotic, romance series. This is former US Marines Dwayne ‘Gunner’ Wicked, and Sidney ‘MOS’ Carver’s story line. CRAZY WICKED LOVE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. CRAZY WICKED LOVE and The Wickeds: Dark Knights at Bayside is a spin off from the author’s Bayside Summers, The Whiskeys, and its’ numerous franchises.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Gunner and Sidney) CRAZY WICKED LOVE follows the best friends to lovers relationship between former US Marines Dwayne ‘Gunner’ Wicked, and Sidney ‘MOS’ Carver. Both approaching thirty years of age, Gunner and Sidney were once members of the same US Marine Unit but upon their ‘retirement’ started an animal rescue and rehab business together, but as time went by Sidney Carver started falling in love with her best friend, and watched from the sidelines as Gunner Wicked entertained a long parade of various women. Knowing she would never be the type of woman Gunner could love, Sidney devised a ‘scheme’ to make Gunner jealous, a scheme that potentially involved Gunner’s cousin Zander. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Sidney and Gunner, and the potential fall-out as Sidney reveals the truth sending Gunner into a spiral of betrayal.

Sidney Carver and Dwayne ‘Gunner’ Wicked are best friends; co-owners of Wicked Animal Rescue, and members of the same former US Marine Unit but Sidney is tired of all the women in and out of Gunner’s life, knowing she will never be enough for our story line hero. Gunner Wicked fears losing his best friend if crosses the proverbial line from friendship to lovers but jealousy is a constant companion every time someone acknowledges the woman with whom he will fall in love.

The relationship between Gunner and Sidney is a best friends to lovers relationship in which Gunner is oblivious to Sidney’s attraction and desire for more. When Sidney asks for advice to flirty and pick up Gunner’s cousin, Gunner sees red, and makes it his mission to claim Sidney as his own. The $ex scenes are erotic, passionate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

As per Melissa Foster’s style of writing, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar secondary and supporting characters from the previous story lines as well as the numerous cross-over and interconnected series.

Two More Lives by Kaitlyn Legaspi – a Review

Two More Lives by Kaitlyn Legaspi – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Apple

Description:
The second set of battles of the Card Holder tournament has commenced.

After months of rigorous training under platinum card user Brochan Cordis, Neela Blydes begins the remaining half of the solo rounds, determined to succeed and become Card Holder of the Queen of Hearts of Domain. Though focus is critical in her battles, another set of burdens consumes her mind.

During the day, Neela searches for her connection to the leader of the rogue organization and the reason behind the death of her father. At night, her dreams are overtaken by darkness and distress, with one filled with destruction and death. Despite any brief moment of happiness that blesses Neela, nothing is enough to overcome the fears it plants within her.

Not after she wakes to a room of living shadows.

Review:

Two More Lives by Kaitlyn Legaspi starts where book one ends, so it does need to be read in order as it will make a lot more sense.

Neela is still suffering from a huge personal blow. But training for the next round of the competition helps her get through the day. Brochan (her trainer) has been a great help) when he’s not training her, then he’s acting like a buffer (keeping her occupied) trying to help her work out who killed her father, and why do they want her dead?! And what’s with the nightmares? Are they linked to her past, or is it a glimpse into her future?

But that’s not going to stop her competing in the tournament. She has to beat Ember Redd, and then she needs answers that she’s convinced he has. The shadows that frighten Neela need more investigation, us there a purpose or a reason for these shadows?

Then we have the rogue organization that may or may not want to bring down the Card Holders Domains (magic holders can enter the tournament to win the right to rule different areas). Original characters like Brochan and Amil are a welcome return, and new characters such as Morissa (start out as antagonists) add a new dimension to this thrilling read.

Another really good read, as the author takes us on an emotional journey of discovery and growth. Neela is such a great character, she suffers blow after blow, but still tries to remain positive. Really well written and again quite a lot of thought and detail.

Two More Lives will have you gripped until the last page. There is double dealings and betrayal, there is also Neela dealing with the loss of loved ones, and a budding romance ? we have laughs as well, so it’s not all doom and gloom. We get the mystery part as Neela continues to find answers to all the questions she has in her head. The fight scenes are detailed enough for it to play in your head.

I’d happily watch this as a movie or tv series. It’s engrossing and thought provoking. I’d probably put this in the YA category and I’d also warn that there might be a few triggers that could upset people. So read the warnings before diving in. And now after that ending, we have to wait for book three!

Pine Creek Marriage by Amity Hope – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple

Description
Love may blossom where it’s least expected in the delightful and heartwarming Pine Creek series from Amity Hope.

Widow Amelia Baumann has sworn to never love again. She’s content to live peacefully in Pine Creek at her friend Mary’s warm, comfortable farmhouse. But then Samuel Kurtz shows up and becomes Mary’s permanent guest, making it hard to keep her feelings in check. Especially after Samuel’s six-year-old niece, Ruthie, whom he’s been raising as his own daughter, completely steals her heart.

When the bishops from another district threaten to send Ruthie to live with her distant aunt, so that she’ll have two parents raising her instead of just Samuel, he hatches a plan.

Amelia reluctantly agrees to a marriage of convenience with Samuel–only because she loves Ruthie and can’t bear to see her torn from the only father she’s ever known. Not because Samuel’s kind green eyes and charming laugh draw her in. And as long as she and Samuel are in agreement that they will simply remain friends…what could possibly go wrong?

Each book in the Pine Creek series is STANDALONE:
* Pine Creek Courtship
* Pine Creek Marriage

Review

Pine Creek Marriage by Amity Hope is the 2nd book in her Pine Creek series.  Can a marriage of convenience turn into something more? This is a heartwarming story of two people thrown together for the sake of a little girl. But it turns into something more…..

Living with her friend Mary, Amelia is enjoying the quiet life. Losing her husband was a blow, so Amelia now throws herself into caring for her friend, and being there for her community. But meeting Ruthie and Samuel stirs up feelings Amelia needs to bury, that path will only lead to more heartache!

Samuel is coming back to where he had happy childhood memories. He’s now a father, but Ruthie isn’t his daughter, she’s his niece? His family isn’t happy with the arrangement, so he’s moved away from his home and family, and had arrived on his aunts doorstep looking for sanctuary.

Ruthie just stole the book for me. She was just too cute. Her attitude and comments had me smiling every time she appeared. So will either of them voice their true feelings? Or will the feelings they begin to have for one another never get voiced?

Book two in this sweet romance will have you falling in love with additional characters, Ruthie and Mary for me made this book. Ruthie is a cute six year old and Mary is Amelia’s friend. It’s not necessary to read the first book (I haven’t) it won’t spoil the enjoyment for this book.

So if your looking for a sweet romance or just wanting a slower paced romance, then grab this book and enjoy. Nicely written and really well thought out.

REVIEW: ALWAYS ON MY MIND is the tenth instalment in Samantha Chase’s contemporary, adult MAGNOLIA SOUND romance series. This is college professor Ethan Harlow, and Parker Bishop’s story line. ALWAYS ON MY MIND can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Ethan and Parker) ALWAYS ON MY MIND sees another Coleman-Bishop heir find their own happily ever after. Months earlier Parker’s great grandfather Coleman died, leaving a little part of himself, and Magnolia Sound to his great grandchildren, grandchildren and heirs. As one of the founding families of Magnolia Sound, the Coleman-Bishop clan owned a large number of properties and business, business that apparently skipped over our story line heroine. Parker Bishop, always the proverbial nomad, was gifted money, and a letter asking her to enjoy her life travelling the world but Parker would soon discover that her best friend was getting married, and she would be homeless in a matter of days. Returning to Magnolia Sound, our heroine was not easily accepted by her family and friends, and once again, homelessness was but a matter of hours on the horizon. Enter college professor Ethan Harlow, and the man with whom Parker would fall in love. Ethan has a room available for rent but Parker is not the type of person Ethan is looking for. What ensues is the roommates to friends to lovers relationship between Ethan and Parker, and the potential fall-out as Ethan reaches his own professional crossroad, a crossroad that could pull Ethan out of Parker’s life.

Parker Bishop has always been unsettled and a little erratic; a person who struggled in school, having no direction in life, including no direction for her immediate future. Parker’s siblings and family never understood our story line heroine, and Parker felt she was always on the outside looking in, without benefit of support or love. Renting a room from Ethan Harlow, meant the possibility of putting down roots in Magnolia Sound, but our heroine’s inability to settle, to remain in one place, pushes at our story line hero who struggles with the roommate he never wanted. Ethan Harlow remembers Parker Bishop from their days in high school but never expected to find a roommate and lover in our story line heroine. When Ethan is offered the opportunity of a lifetime, Ethan must chose between Parker or going it alone.

The relationship between Parker and Ethan begins acrimoniously as Ethan struggles to accept the over the top nuances of our story line heroine. Parker battles with issues of low self-worth and low self-esteem such that she finds the negativity in everything including her small chances at success.Having lived her life fighting for acceptance, it is only a matter of time before she begins to think that she is not worthy of friendship or love.Battling between head and heart Parker has plans for a future, a future that may not include the man that she loves. There are no $ex scenes, everything is implied.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including Parker’s judgemental and stifling siblings, none of whom support our story line heroine. From her mother to siblings, cousins and friends, Parker constantly fights for a place in the family, a family that sees Parker as nothing more than a loose end.

ALWAYS ON MY MIND is a story of family, friendships and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is heart breaking and emotional; the romance is passionate; the characters are struggling to move on with their lives.

REVIEW:LUCIFER’S SIN is the first instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult LUCIFER’S erotic, romantic suspense trilogy-a part of the author’s WALKER SECURITY series. This is Walker Security specialist Luke ‘Lucifer’ Remington, and FBI Agent Ana Banks’ story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Lucifer and Ana) using present day and memories from the past, LUCIFER’S SIN follows in the wake of the murder of a former member of Luke Remington’s special forces team. Six years earlier Luke Remington met and fell in love with FBI Agent Ana Banks but life, death, betrayal and vengeance pushed Luke out of Ana’s life, and in the two years since they have been apart, Ana struggles to accept what happened and why. When Luke gets word that he and Ana, as well as several members of his original team are part of a hit list, Luke and the team from Walker Security go in search of the woman he loves. Enter Ana Banks, a woman who battles between head and heart knowing the man that she once loved is the man that betrayed her heart and soul. As Luke and Ana go on the hunt for the truth, the team begins to suspect a mole in the Agency, someone close to our story line heroine. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Lucifer and Ana, and the fall-out as Lucifer and Ana are targeted, along with the members of the Walker Security Team.

Two years earlier greed was the impetus behind betrayal and murder, and Lucifer Remington was caught in the middle. His team duped and fooled by one of their own, Luke had no choice but to take down the man responsible. Fast forward to present day, Lucifer and several members of his original team, find themselves the target of an unknown source, a source that is also targeting the woman Lucifer loves. Ana Banks struggles to forgive the man that destroyed her life but everyone Ana’s loves is dead or dying, and our heroine is next on the list of for sins of the past.

The relationship between Ana and Lucifer is one of second chances; a relationship destroyed by the betrayal of someone close, a personal betrayal that forced Ana to push Lucifer out of her life. Luke aka Lucifer Remington never stopped loving our story line heroine but a series of long buried lies, and heart breaking secrets were met with denial and the ultimate betrayal. Their rekindling romance is passionate and intense but Luke Remington struggles to forgive our heroine for sins of the past.

We are reintroduced to several members of the Walker Security Team: Savage and Adam, as well as Blake Savage (via phone). The requisite evil has many faces.

LUCIFER’S SIN is a story of betrayal and vengeance; power and greed; family and friendships, relationships and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive and energetic; the characters are charismatic, determined, and emotionally wounded. LUCIFER’S SINS ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

I open the door. Ana’s sitting on the edge of the bed, staring at the door. The instant she sees me, her lips part, and her eyes travel my body before jerking back to my face.“You have to put a shirt on. You just—have to.”

My cock is pretty damn pleased with this reaction that says she wants me, but my brain is working overdrive, and for once, overpowering that plaything in my pants. “Why, sweetheart? You want to kiss the scar you gave me better? It’s too late for that. Or maybe, you want to lick me all over? You already did that. You don’t get to do it again. Not after trying to kill me.” I walk to the end of the desk where I left my gun, pick it up, and then lay down on the ground at the foot of the bed. My phone goes to the floor. The gun sits on my gut.

Ana moves to the end of the bed, and sits there, staring down at me. “What are you doing?”

I notice she avoids my name when she would normally do otherwise. I guess she just can’t figure out who I am anymore. Well, I know. And Lucifer fits. She knows, too. “I’m catching a few z’s, and protecting you from anyone that comes in the door. If it so much as jiggles, I’ll sit up and shoot.”

“It’s been a hellish night and morning. Lay on the bed. You can have the side closest to the door. Please.”

I glance up at her. “Sweetheart, if I get in that bed with you, I’ll have you naked in about thirty seconds, and while we’ll both enjoy that, you’ll just hate me for it after. Not to mention we won’t get any sleep.”

“I could say a lot of things to that response, but I probably shouldn’t. We’ll put pillows between us.”

“If you think a pillow will stop me from getting naked with you, you might have been right when you said you never really knew me, Ana. That was right before you shot me, right? I told you. I want to fuck you. I don’t want to sleep next to you.”

She buries her face in her hands and groans a frustrating sound and then glowers at me, all sexy and way too damn hot for my own good. “Fine, Lucifer. Sleep on the damn floor. Just do what you want.” She stands up and walks to the side of the bed before climbing on top.

She tosses a pillow down on top of me. I grab it and stick it under my head. “For the record, me down here and you up there is not what I want. It was never what I wanted, Ana. It’s just who we are now.”

“Yeah,” she says softly. “I know. “

That’s all she says and I want more. But then, I’ve always wanted more when it comes to Ana. And more was never enough.

REVIEW:. WRIGHT THAT GOT AWAY is the fourth instalment in KA Linde’s contemporary, adult WRIGHT VINEYARD, and eleventh instalment in the WRIGHT erotic, romance series. This is twenty-six year olds, rock star Campbell Abbey, and blogger/TikTokker star Marie ‘Blaire Blush’ Barker’s story line. WRIGHT THAT GOT AWAY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: For followers and fans of KA Linde, there is a slight crossover with the cameo appearance of English and Court Kensington from the author’s CRUEL series

Told from dual first person perspectives (Campbell and Blaire) WRIGHT THAT GOT AWAY is a second chance romance focusing on twenty-six year olds, rock star Campbell Abbey, and Marie ‘Blaire Blush’ Barker. Blaire and Campbell were high school sweethearts in Lubbock Texas but days after graduating Campbell announced he was going to Los Angeles, alone, to make it big in the music industry, leaving a heart broken Blaire behind. Fast forward eight years, wherein Campbell Abbey returns home to help celebrate award winning winery season, a celebration that brings him face to face with the woman he has never forgotten. Enter Blaire Barker, social media star, and the woman with whom he is still in love but Blaire struggles in the face of betrayal and loss, grief and heart break, knowing to catch up with Campbell means to remember the past. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Campbell and Blaire, and the potential fall-out as the past comes full circle, pushing Campbell out of her life, again.

Campbell Abbey knew he was about to destroy Blaire Barker’s heart but Campbell was all about the music, and to stay home, meant never seeing his dream come to fruition. Blaire has always been Campbell’s muse, and with their reconnection, Campbell’s star is about to rise, once again. Blaire Barker never wants to experience the heartbreak of rejection ever again but her love for Campbell is a barely veiled threat to her own privacy, a privacy that will be tested when our heroine moves to LA with the man that she loves.

The relationship between Blaire and Campbell is one of second chances; a rekindling romance in which Campbell ‘s love for Blaire has never waned but forgiveness for past sins will come at a cost. As Blaire and Campbell work on repairing their friendship and relationship, someone else is working behind the scenes to make sure they never get together. The $ex scenes are erotic, emotional and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters, many whom we have met in previous story lines: Campbell’s fellow Cosmere bandmates: Michael, Santi, Vivi, Yorke, manager Bobby, and PR agent English Kensington and her husband Court ; Campbell’s sister Nora; Blaire’s assistant Honey; Piper and Hollin Abbey (Wright Rival); Weston Wright; and fellow social media star Nate King. Weston and Nora’s story line is next in ALL THE WRIGHT MOVES.

WRIGHT THAT GOT AWAY is a story of loss and love, betrayal and vengeance; second chances and forgiveness, heart break and acceptance. The premise is emotional, edgy and sensitive; the romance is spicy and provocative; the characters are sassy, spirited, charismatic and wounded.
