ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 28, 2022

An Irish mobster with a brutal grudge.
An Italian mafia princess with a dark secret.
Two enemy empires joined in sacred marriage vows.
Let the hating games begin.

Reyna

If this arrogant Irish mobster my brother sold my niece to thinks I’m going to play nice over this arranged marriage BS, he should think again.
I don’t care if this match with the Mob will make my brother capo of the Five Families.
I don’t care how much money, territory, or power it will gain us.
I especially don’t care that the Irishman is the sexiest man I’ve ever seen.
I won’t allow my innocent niece to suffer the same way I did.
Even if I have to kill him.

Spider

I’m supposed to marry sweet, beautiful Lili. So why can’t I stop thinking about her swamp witch of an aunt?
Reyna who hates me. Reyna who challenges me. Reyna with the guts of a Viking, the body of a fertility goddess, and the attitude of a feral cat.
Nothing good can come of what I’m feeling for a woman who’s not the one in the wedding contract I signed.
A woman I want so much, I’ll have to burn the whole world down to get.
If she doesn’t kill me first.

REVIEW:BRUTAL VOWS is the fourth and final instalment in JT Geissinger’s contemporary, adult QUEENS AND MONSTERS erotic, Mafia romance series. This is Irish Mobster Homer ‘Spider’ Quinn, and thirty three year old Italian Mafia princess Reyna Caruso’s story line. BRUTAL VOWS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Reyna and Spider) BRUTAL VOWS follows in the wake of an arranged marriage between Irish Mobster Homer ‘Spider’ Quinn and Reyna Caruso’s eighteen year old niece Lili. Reyna’s brother is the head of the Caruso family, and has signed a contract with the Irish Mob that will see the marriage of his eighteen year old daughter Lili to Spider Quinn, a contract that is to unite two powerful families but Lili is about to tear the family apart, and Reyna, who has already survived a marriage to the mob, refuses to let her niece become another statistic. Offering herself up in place of her niece, Reyna finds herself falling for a man who could destroy her life. What ensues is the building relationship between Reyna and Spider, and the potential fall-out as betrayal from within forces Reyna to reconsider her future with Spider Quinn.

Spider Quinn doesn’t want to marry an eighteen year old child but a contract has been signed to unite two powerful families. Meeting Lili’s aunt Reyna stirs something deep within our story line her, something Spider hasn’t felt for a very long time. Reyna Caruso knows that to defy the family means to place herself in the direct line of fire but in order to protect Lili, Reyna offers up herself to a man that is currently starring in her fantasies and dreams.

The relationship between Reyna and Spider begins acrimoniously as Reyna struggles to accept Spider into her niece’s life. Spider’s attraction to Reyna is immediate, and his need for Reyna grows with every encounter. The barely veiled sexual attraction between Reyna and Spider is palpable; the $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word.

The colorful and charismatic secondary and supporting characters include Kage and Nat (Ruthless Creatures 1), Declan and Sloane (Carnal Urges 2), Malek and Riley (Savage Hearts 3), as well as Reyna’s brother Gianni, her niece Lili, and her over the top, Italian Nonna, and Spider’s right hand man Kieran Byrne.

BRUTAL VOWS is a story of family and relationships, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is captivating, entertaining and inviting; the romance is seductive and hot; the characters are broken, energetic, powerful but healing. BRUTAL VOWS is the final instalment in the Queens and Monster series but the final story is open ended, leaving room for something more

Spider
I get only a glimpse of the woman in the window before the curtains fall back into place and she disappears, but the image of her is seared onto my retinas.
Dark hair, red lips, olive skin.
A black, low-cut dress.
Acres of cleavage.
And eyes that glittered silver in the afternoon sun like the flash of coins at the bottom of a wishing well.
She can’t be Liliana, the lass I’m here to meet. I’ve seen pictures of her. She has a sweet, innocent face. A shy, lovely smile.
The woman in the window looks like she’d only smile if she were slitting your throat.
Mindful of the armed guards, I say in Gaelic to Kieran, “I thought the lass’s mother died?”
Standing beside me, he follows my gaze and looks up at the blank window.
“Aye. Why?”
“Who else lives here?”
He shrugs. “Dunno. From the size of the bloody place, probably a thousand people.”
She’s not a servant, that much I know. There wasn’t a hint of servitude in those flashing eyes.
She looked more like a warlord about to lead an army of soldiers into battle.
“This way,” says the guard nearest to me. He nods toward an arched opening in the brick wall that leads from the circular driveway into an interior courtyard.
Dismissing the thought of the mystery woman, I button my suit jacket and follow behind the guard as he leads Kieran and me away from the car. The other guard walks behind us. We’re led through the lushly landscaped courtyard to a set of enormous carved oak doors, flanked on either side by towering marble columns.
The main house looms over us, three sprawling stories of beige limestone with elaborate balustrades and scrolled iron balconies, topped by a line of Roman centurion statues gazing down at us from a ledge on the red-tiled roof.
Inside the main foyer, the décor becomes even more ostentatious.
Naked cherubs frolic with hairy satyrs and woodland nymphs in colorful frescoes on the walls. Instead of one drop-crystal chandelier overhead, there are three. The floor is black marble, the carved mahogany furniture is edged in gilt, and my eyes are starting to water from the kaleidoscope glare of stained-glass windows.
Under his breath, Kieran says, “Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Looks like Liberace hurled his lunch all over the bloody place.”
He’s right. It’s fucking awful.
I have to force myself not to turn around and walk out.
“Ah, Mr. Quinn!”
I turn to my right. A man approaches with his hands spread open in greeting.
He’s fit, of average height, and somewhere around forty. His dark hair is slicked back with pomade. Wearing a navy blue pinstripe suit I can tell is custom made, a powder blue tie with a diamond tie pin, a chunky diamond watch, and a gold pinky ring on each hand, he oozes wealth, privilege, and power.
His cologne reaches me before he does.
His smile is blinding.
I hate him on sight.
“Mr. Caruso, I presume.”
He grabs one of my hands in both of his and pumps it up and down like he’s a political candidate campaigning for my vote.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you. Welcome to my home.”
“Thank you. It’s a pleasure to meet you as well.”
He hasn’t stopped grinning or shaking my hand.
Ten more seconds of this shite, and I’ll break those Chiclet teeth of his.
“This is my associate, Mr. Byrne.” I extract my hand from Caruso’s death grip and gesture to Kieran, who inclines his head respectfully.
“Sir.”
“Mr. Byrne, welcome. And please, both of you, call me Gianni. I prefer if we’re all on a first name basis, don’t you?”
I’d rather blind myself with acid, you wanker.
Kieran politely offers his name. I offer nothing. There’s an awkward pause while Caruso waits, but he gets the hint and suggests we retire to his study to speak in private.
After what feels like a death march through miles of echoing corridors, we arrive at the study. It’s probably larger than the law library at Notre Dame. We sit across from Caruso in a pair of leather chairs so uncomfortable, they had to be designed by sadists.
I haven’t been here ten minutes, and I’m already regretting the fuck out of this.
Until she walks in the door.
Dark hair, red lips, olive skin.
A black, low-cut dress.
Acres of cleavage.
Not only cleavage, but long legs and an hourglass figure that would make any man stupid with lust.
If he wasn’t too busy being turned to stone by the ice in her eyes, that is. I’ve never seen an attractive serial killer, but I bet this is exactly what she’d look like.

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
The last person she wants to see in Magnolia, North Carolina, could be exactly whom she’s been waiting for…

Mariella Jacob was one of the world’s premier bridal designers, but one viral PR disaster later, she’s trying to get her torpedoed career back on track in small-town Magnolia, North Carolina. With a secondhand store and a new business venture helping her friends turn the Wildflower Inn into a wedding venue, Mariella is finally putting at least one mistake behind her. Until that mistake—in the glowering, handsome form of Alex Ralsten—moves to Magnolia too.

Mariella ruined Alex’s wedding by announcing that his starlet bride-to-be was sleeping with Mariella’s fiancé. While he’s furious when they’re forced to work together, there’s no denying Mariella is hardworking, talented…and gorgeous. In fact, though Alex keeps reminding himself that they’re enemies, something deeper is growing…daring them to admit that a rocky past might lead to something unexpectedly wonderful.

Review:

Wedding Season by Michelle Major is the 3rd book in her wonderful The Carolina Girls series. I have become a big fan of Michelle Major, having enjoyed her Magnolia Sisters series, and the first two books of her Carolina Girls.  Wedding season continued this trend, as it was a wonderful story, with a terrific couple, and great secondary characters.

Mariella, our heroine in this book, is the third partner in the Wildflower Inn, as she helps design the dresses for upcoming weddings at the Inn; she also owns the Second Chance dress shop.  In the previous books, we learned how Mariella left her job as a big shot wedding dress designer, and moving to Magnolia to avoid meeting anyone, after her fiasco when she drunkenly ruined her career.  Now Mariella has made friends with her partners in the Inn (Emma and Anji) is happy being in Magnolia. But things will soon change.

Alex Ralsten, our hero, is the man who Mariella ruined at his wedding by exposing his cheating fiancee, and has opened a new business in Magnolia.  They both are cordial, but try to avoid each other, and slowly they become friends.  Alex hires a young assistant, Heather to help at work, who turns out to be Mariella’s daughter, whom she gave up at birth.  Heather is not nice to Mariella, but with help from Alex, she begins to learn more about her biological mother, and in time the two of them will open up their hearts.

Alex recognizes that Mariella is not only a hard worker, who is loyal to her friends, but also smart, not to mention beautiful; as he begins to see her more often, he enjoys spending time with her.  Mariella and Alex’s relationship begins to change, as they each have strong feelings for each other. At first, they try to avoid anything, until their sizzling chemistry becomes an affair that they keep a secret.   I did love Alex and Mariella together, and also loved how Heather became closer to Mariella.  It was great to see how close and loyal the ladies were to each other, going out of their way to help Mariella with her daughter, as well as with Alex.  I really loved seeing Emma and Cam, Anji and Gabe.

What follows is a wonderful heartwarming romantic story with both Mariella and Alex dealing with their past issues; as well as Mariella coming to terms with the daughter she never knew. Michelle Major also created a wonderful group of secondary characters, as well as giving us a glimpse at the ladies we loved from the previous series. Wedding Season was written so very well by Michelle Major, with a great couple, and so many wonderful characters, many of the townsfolks, and the cute animals.

Ten Trends to Seduce Your Best Friend by Penny Reid-Review Tour

Ten Trends to Seduce Your Best Friend by Penny Reid-Review & Excerpt Tour

ABOUT THE BOOK: April 12, 2022.

Winnifred Gobaldi and Byron Visser are not best friends.

Yes, they’ve known each other for years, but they’re not even friendly. Winnie considers them more like casual, distant acquaintances who find each other barely tolerable, especially when he’s being condescending (which is all the time).

The truth is, they have nothing in common. She’s a public school science teacher with stars in her eyes, and he’s a pretentious, joyless double PhD turned world-famous bestselling fiction author. She loves sharing her passion for promulgating women in STEM careers and building community via social media, and he eschews all socialization, virtual or otherwise. She’s looking for a side hustle to help pay down a mountain of student debt, and his financial portfolio is the stuff of fiduciary wet dreams. So why are they faking a #bestfriend relationship for millions of online spectators?

When a simple case of tit-for-tat trends between nonfriends leads to a wholly unexpected kind of pretend, nothing is simple. Sometimes, it takes a public audience to reveal the truth of private feelings, and rarely—very rarely—you should believe what you see online.

•••••

REVIEW:TEN TRENDS TO SEDUCE YOUR BESTFRIEND by Penny Reid is a contemporary, adult romance story line focusing on twenty-seven year old author/genius Byron Visser, and twenty-six year old teacher/podcaster Winnifred Gobaldi.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Win and Byron) TEN TRENDS TO SEDUCE YOUR BESTFRIEND follows the building romance and relationship between twenty-seven year old author/genius Byron Visser, and twenty-six year old teacher/podcaster Winnifred Gobaldi. Byron Visser is a genius, an author and an ‘odd duck’ in the world of social norms. His best friend is Amelia, whose best friend is Winnifred Gobaldi, a young woman whose podcast promotes science, more specifically STEM-Science, technology, engineering and mathematics for girls but in this Win finds herself at a cross-roads when an grant to further her STEM promotion for women involves a larger social media platform, and a romantic TikTok challenge. Enter Byron Visser, genius, best selling author, and the man who stars in Win’s fantasies and dreams. What ensues is the building but atypical romance and relationship between Win and Byron, as our couple must navigate the world of social media, anxiety, miscommunication and misunderstanding.

Byron Visser could be considered an ‘odd duck’; a young man whose life experiences are limited; a man whose dislike of people and social norms is anything but acceptable to the outside world by Byron has fallen in love with his best friend’s roommate, a woman whose quirks and oddities grate at our hero’s sense of well being. Winnifred Bogaldi has always felt like a failure in the face of Byron Visser’s silent condemnations and perfect control of his life but Winnifred will soon discover that Byron’s eccentricities and peculiarities hide something much deeper, something our heroine realizes before anyone else. Working together to help further Winnifred’s chances at winning the TikTok challenge, our couple will discover their mutual disdain for one another hides a volatile attraction neither one is able to admit.

The relationship between Byron and Winnifred begins as enemies to frenemies to ‘lovers’. Neither one is experienced in the relationship department, and their social awkwardness is exacerbated by fear, anxiety and a lack of, or miscommunication. There are no $ex scenes, everything is implied or fades to black.

We are introduced to Byron’s best friend and Winnifred’s roommate Amelia; Byron’s roommate Jeff Choi, and Jeff’s girlfriend Lucy.

TEN TRENDS TO SEDUCE YOUR BESTFRIEND is a very slow building story line of friendships and relationships, misunderstanding and miscommunication, acceptance and love. The premise is thought provoking, engaging and captivating; the romance is sensitive; the characters are naïve, unique and quirky.

“This is the video from yesterday.” My stomach did a weird thing at the sight of him, and the sight of me crawling on all fours toward him, and what came after. I blinked away from the replay, before the part where I’d forgotten we were being filmed. “Why would I be mad at you about this? I knew you were filming.”
“Look harder.”
My forehead wrinkled, giving my attention back to her phone. I didn’t know what she wanted me to see, but now the video was repeating and—
“OH MY GOD!” I grabbed the phone. “This—this is—”
“Shh! Yes.” Now Amelia looked around, presumably to make certain none of the Seattleites surrounding us felt a disturbance in the politeness force. “Yes. I recorded it live. I’m so, so, so sorry.”
I leaned forward. “So that means it’s been—”
“Posted since last night. That’s right.” She covered her face again, groaning. “I’m so sorry.”
My eyes caught on the number of views, and I stood from the table, my chair scraping noisily on the linoleum. “ONE MILLION VIEWS?”
“Sorry!” she whispered loudly to someone at a nearby table. “We’ll just—we’re leaving.” Amelia grabbed my laptop and notebook and tilted her head toward the exit. “Time to go, and it was one point three the last time I checked. Now get your bag.”
Numbly, I lowered her phone and grabbed for my backpack and coat, fumbling with the strap. My fingers didn’t seem to work. She walked around the table and placed a hand on my back, helping to usher me out of the quiet area and waiting until we were standing in the hall to say, “I’m so sorry. It was an accident.”
“I can’t . . .” I couldn’t do anything. I couldn’t think, I couldn’t move, I couldn’t speak. One point three million views. What must Byron think? “Oh crap,” I whispered, my gaze swinging around the interior of the library, unable to settle. “What about Byron? Does he know? How is he going to feel about this?”
“I don’t know if he knows. I’ve been trying to call him all morning. He won’t pick up his phone, and I’m frankly a little scared to leave a voice mail. Since he’s not on social media, he might not know.” Stuffing my laptop and notebook into my backpack, Amelia put the strap on my shoulder and took her cell phone from where I still gripped it.
I immediately covered my face like I could hide from this. My cheeks were hot. As much time as I’d spent this morning coming to terms with Jeff’s decisions last night, I’d spent ZERO seconds thinking about my ridiculous reaction to Byron’s performance. I wouldn’t allow myself to think about it. What was the point? He’d been pretending, acting, playing a part, and—as per usual—I’d left the interaction feeling like a fool.
“We have to delete it,” I rasped, my mouth dry, my brain on fire. “Before he sees it and finds out, we have to delete it.”
“No! No. Don’t do that.” She pressed the phone to her chest.
“What? Why not?”
“Think for a second.” She pushed me toward the elevator. “If you delete it, it might become a whole thing. He’s a famous guy who millions of people are starving to know more about. He has no social media and suddenly he’s on TikTok with you? And this isn’t like your lab video from Friday, this is you two together, acting like you’re close friends crushing on each other. We need to call him—together—and tell him. But first we need him to answer his damn phone.” Amelia nodded at her own assertion while stabbing the elevator call button with her index finger.
“Call him? You want to call him together?” Oh God. I didn’t want to call him. I never wanted to talk to him again. “You don’t think he’ll want us to take it down ASAP? Like you said, millions of people want to know about him. Don’t you think he’ll view this as an invasion of privacy?”
“Maybe.”
“Maybe?” I flinched back. “I think you mean, most certainly yes.”
“No.” She pulled me by the arm into the elevator and pressed all the right buttons. “We should call him, leave a voice mail together where we tell him exactly what happened, and ask what he wants to do about it. If you take it down, it might create more difficulty for him than if you left it up and let it run its course.”
I covered my face again, leaning against the wall for support. “I can’t believe this is happening.”
“Hey, on the bright side, you have over ten thousand new followers. That’s . . . something.”
I groaned. I would’ve given up every single one of my new followers if it would’ve somehow undone the posting of that video. What a nightmare.

REVIEW:All in the pursuit of art, Jessa is willing to do just about anything to become an artist. So what does a young college student do? She goes to a professor for advice. This sends her down a rabbit-hole of her own making, but it also changes her life for the better. Poor Jessa is a hot mess of drama, her parents trying to set her up to get married, not allowing her to go after her passions, not to mention the guy she just made a deal with to pretend to be her boyfriend just to get her parents off her back. Throw in a couple of older hot professors and it’s a full on soap-opera.

One thing to know about this author is that she can pack so much drama, spice and feeling into a short amount of time. Once I started reading it was hard to stop, the story is flirty and dramatic with just the right amount of spice to keep the reader going. My only complaint is that I wish there was more. A happy 3.5 from this reader.

REVIEW:Book three, book three, how I love this series! The next installment in Mika Lane’s Study Harder series is here. A Sinful Classroom is a student/teacher, reverse harem romance filled with spicy moments and the trifecta of drama.

When life gives you lemons…well you make lemonade. When Roxy’s parents told her they would only pay for half of her school tuition, she made it work, she got a job and she paid her part. School is the one thing she wants more than anything, and hard work is what she’s used to anyway. When life knocks her down, and her parents are nowhere to be found, what’s a girl to do?

Enter in the triad; Baird the school counselor and his two best friends and roommates, Arrow and Silas. All three have been smitten by Roxy and want nothing more than to care and protect her. Roxy slowly spends time with each of the men and falls for them, each for their own special ways. When she finally learns why her tuition hasn’t been paid, she pulls away in fear of hurting her new found happiness with them. Can the guys bring Roxy back? Will she fight the fear of possibility or let herself be happy with her men?

I think Roxy is my favorite FM in the series so far. She is funny, sweet and hardworking, she is willing to do anything to finish school and better herself. This author really does have a way with words. I enjoyed A Sinful Classroom, even if it was a little far-fetched at times, nothing wrong with a good book.

My attention was redirected to another noise coming from the far reaches of the house.
Arrow and Baird had left hours ago, to get their workouts in at the campus athletic center before their day with students began, so I knew whatever I was hearing was not from them.
But there was no cause for alarm. I’d heard a… guest in the house the night before, and figured this person was just starting their day.
I had half a mind to see who it was and what they were up to, but it was my policy to mind my own business in matters of roommate life. I hadn’t lived with other people in years, and I’d promised myself when Arrow had invited me to bunk up with him, that I’d keep my head down and stay out of the other guys’ lives so long as they stayed out of mine.
They were my friends, and I didn’t want our short time living together to throw any kinks in our relationship.
So if someone had a ‘friend’ over the night before, it was none of my damn business. But that didn’t stop me from being curious.
Especially since I’d heard our house guest, whose room shared a wall with mine, having a little fun in her room the night before. All by herself.
How’d I know she was alone? I’d heard Arrow show her to the room and abruptly say goodnight. I wasn’t sure why he invited a woman home only to show her to the guest room, but the man must have had his reasons.
And the hot little noises she made as she pleasured herself were a thoroughly unexpected delight. I’d have to thank him later for setting her up right next to me. It was downright awesome of him.
I’d been up reading, so I heard her wash up and get ready for bed. And when her bed began to rock just the slightest bit, it was without a doubt clear what she was up to. When her breathing got heavy and raspy, I took my own good time in hand.
Literally.
It was beyond hot, listening to a woman moan and sigh, with no idea what she looked like. Not that I had any shortage of beautiful women in my imagination to jerk off to, but a situation like this let the mind go wild.
Was she curvy or slim?
Dark skinned or light?
Blue eyes or brown?
Long hair or short?
Big tits or small?
Not that it really mattered. Her little gasps and sighs, which led to a growing, then final, moan when she achieved her climax, set off my own as I collected my streams of ejaculate in the extra towel I kept in my nightstand for just that purpose.
Fucking hot, jerking off to the sounds of a stranger.
A stranger who was still in my house. Well, Arrow’s house.
“Good morning,” a woman’s voice tentatively said.
Holy fuck. I nearly went through the roof at the sound of her so close behind me. While I’d known someone was in the house, I hadn’t heard her coming and had no idea she was headed in my direction. I’d assumed she’d dress and slip out the side door without a word.
But I was glad she hadn’t because when I whipped around, I saw she was a pleasure to behold. Well done, Arrow. Well done.
Our houseguest was a tall, thin blonde with terribly adorable bedhead, bundled up in one of Arrow’s terrycloth robes.
How did I know it was Arrow’s? Because his initials were on it, like they were on nearly all his shit.
Monograms were his thing.
I jumped to my feet. “Hello. I’m Silas.”
I extended my hand because I didn’t know what else to do. I mean, I wasn’t going to say, hey I heard you jerking off last night and found it quite enjoyable.
Yeah, no.
“Hello. I’m Roxy. Roxy Vandenberg.”
She returned a healthy, firm handshake. Hopefully with the same hand she’d pleasured herself the night before. I was tempted to sniff it.
“I didn’t know anyone lived here with Arrow.”
Apparently not.
She looked around the kitchen, her gaze settling on our fancy espresso machine when I realized she was actually avoiding looking at me.
I looked down at myself in ratty sweats that were probably a little too clingy to be seen in mixed company. And I had no shirt on at all.
I hiked them up so they at least covered the top of my pubes, and reached for a jacket someone had left on the back of a kitchen chair.
As I started to pull it on, I thought fuck it. She’d already seen my pierced nipple, bicep tattoos, and whatever else my immodest clothing was revealing. I mean, shit, she was wearing another man’s bathrobe.
We were kind of even, if you asked me.
“I’m an architecture professor at the university. Camping out here until my own house is finished. Are you a student?”
She nodded, still avoiding looking at me, setting her gaze on my open laptop and plans for the movie theater.
“I’m a business major. My car broke down so Professor Menk—I mean, Arrow—gave me a lift here. I slept in the guest room.”
Thank god for little miracles.
“Whatcha working on?” she asked.
For a moment, I didn’t know what she was talking about. All I could do was stare at her mop of bedhead and think that the gap between her teeth was about the most fucking sexy thing I’d ever seen in my life.
Truly.
It was in sharp contrast to her otherwise sultry presence, adding a fuck you that was unexpected. And delicious.
How many people these days ran around with gaps in their teeth when we were surrounded by dental work that delivered perfectly straight, overly whitened teeth? Not a hell of a lot.
She was… real.
But I’d forgotten my manners. “Coffee?” I asked.
She bounced up and down a little in her bare feet, unbothered by my near-nakedness.
I was in love.
“Please, yes. I would love some.”
As soon as I’d handed her a big, steaming mug, because—I couldn’t deny it—I wanted her to stick around as long as possible, I pulled a chair around the table so she could sit next to me. Right next to me.

Writing has been a passion of mine since, well, forever (my first book was “The Day I Ate the Milkyway,” a true fourth-grade masterpiece). These days, steamy romance, both dark and funny, gives purpose to my days and nights as I create worlds and characters who defy the imagination. I live in magical Northern California with my own handsome alpha dude, sometimes known as Mr. Mika Lane, and an evil cat named Bill. These two males also defy my imagination from time to time.

A lover of shiny things, I’ve been known to try to new recipes on unsuspecting friends, find hiding places so I can read undisturbed, and spend my last dollar on a plane ticket somewhere.

I have several titles for you to choose from including perennially favorite Billionaire and Reverse Harem stories. And have you see my Player Series about male escorts who make the ladies of Hollywood curl their toes and forget their names? Hottttt…. And my brand new anti-hero/mafia books are coming out in audio as I write this.

Exciting news: in June 2020, I will be publishing with Vi Keeland’s and Penelope Ward’s Cocky Hero Club as one of their contributing authors. Stay tuned for more on this or follow my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mikalaneauthor. And, as if that’s not cool enough, I am also writing in K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heros world. Look for that later in the year.

I’ll always promise you a hot, sexy romp with kick-ass but imperfect heroines, and some version of a modern-day happily ever after.

Highland Justice by Heather McCollum – a Review

Highland Justice by Heather McCollum – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
As the new chief of Clan Mackay, Gideon Sinclair knows the importance of maintaining order at any cost. To keep the conquered clan in line, Gideon must mete out ruthless justice or risk losing their precious new peace. But from the moment he meets Cait Mackay—aye, from the moment the sweetness of her lips captures his—all of Gideon’s careful objectivity is well and thoroughly compromised.

Cait knows that kissing the brawny Highlander is a dangerous game. It was bad enough she picked his pocket to feed the children in her care, but sometimes a desperate woman must disguise her crimes any way she can. Only her act of deception has made things worse… Because one kiss with the Highland’s most brutal chief leaves her breathless and out of her depth.

Now Gideon must choose between his duty and his heart when his lovely thief is accused of treason against the king himself.

Each book in the Sons of Sinclair series is STANDALONE:
* Highland Conquest
* Highland Warrior
* Highland Justice

Review:

Highland Justice by Heather McCollum is the third book in her Sons of Sinclair series, but easily enough read without reading the previous books.

Gideon is the third Sinclair brother. Known as Justice (his father named them the horsemen for fear/respect purposes) so Gideon has been trained to judge and dispense justice. And it’s been that way for as long as Gideon can remember, to him there is either wrong or right, nothing in between. That is until he has to judge the one person he kissed!!! The thief has to be judged and the sentence carried out….. What’s the new Chief to do, if he hesitates then his clan won’t respect him!

Cait is sick and tired of the rich feeding off of the poor. So she might take a few things now and again. (But only to help her cause). A strong and independent person, Cait will give Gideon a run for his money. Surviving a previous marriage has made Cait wary of becoming involved with another man, so her time and effort is put to good use looking after children who have no one.

And as they become closer, Gideon will have to make the hardest decision he’s ever had to make! Cait is accused of stealing from the king! Did she? Or is it someone out to discredit her?

Romance with mystery thrown in is fast becoming a favourite of mine.

I love this series, and the ones before them too ? the descriptions will have you wishing to visit Scotland as soon as possible. The emotions this author writes about will have you cheering and crying along with the characters. I can’t usually put this authors work down, it’s a long night reading ?

A few steamy scenes, a few scenes where secondary characters steal the limelight. And a love story that will change the lives of not only Gideon and Cait, but the whole village too.

If historical romances are your thing (and they are mine) don’t delay, grab your copy. A recommended read ?

REVIEW: EXPLOSIVE UNION is the seventh instalment in Brooke Summers’ contemporary, adult MADE dark, erotic, Mafia, romance series. This is twenty-four year old Jade Gallagher, and Rocco Gallo’s story line. EXPLOSIVE UNION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise including graphic violence, there will be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jade and Rocco) EXPLOSIVE UNION follows the arranged marriage between twenty-four year old Jade Gallagher, the only daughter of the head of the Irish Clann, and Rocco Gallo, the heir to the Italian Mafia. Five years earlier Jade Gallagher took the blame for a murder she did not commit in order to protect someone she loved but five years of abuse and torture at the hands of the prison guards found Jade planning her retribution one repayment at a time. Upon her release Jade would discover the family had entered into a contract with the Italian Mafia, a contract that would see Jade marry their eldest son. Enter Rocco Gallo, and the man with whom Jade would fall in love. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship between Jade and Rocco, and the potential fall-out as Rocco struggles to accept his new bride’s independence and her need to seek revenge, without his help.

Jade Gallagher is determined to take down the people who tried to destroy her life but first our heroine is expected to get married. Marrying into the Italian mob would join two powerful underworld families, families that have more in common than she could have imagined. Rocco Gallo doesn’t want to get married but the Gallo family is bleeding money, and their power is being questioned by those involved. Merging with the Irish Clann makes for a dominant and authoritative powerhouse family, a family that will be threatened from outside and from within.

The relationship between Jade and Rocco is an arranged marriage meant to push the families to the top of the proverbial food chain. Neither Jade nor Rocco wants anything to do with an arranged marriage but both know that to keep peace within the criminal underworld, they must perform their duty for the sake of the family. Rocco believes as the husband he must protect and guard the woman he loves but Jade is an independent and powerful young woman who has suffered more than anyone could have imagined. The $ex scenes are passionate, erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including parents, siblings, and over the top, headstrong and questionable grandmothers.

EXPLOSIVE UNION is a story of family and duty; blood and death; power and control, abuse and vengeance, acceptance and love. The premise is dark, gritty and raw; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are charismatic, dynamic, head strong and broken. EXPLOSIVE UNION ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

Again, I urge caution when reading the story line, triggers are numerous and may be upsetting.

Falling for her target wasn’t part of the plan.

Tasha Ward exists as a phantom. Drifting from place to place, she can blend in to the point of invisibility—a trait highly useful for a deadly assassin like her. But after years of perfecting her skills, she wants to be seen.

No… It’s more than that. She wants the alpha of the murderous Redcliff wolf pack to look her in the eye as she plunges her knife straight through his heart. Traveling deep into the pack’s territory alone, Tasha’s prepared for war… until she finally faces the pack’s ruggedly sexy leader and does the one thing she’s never done before. Hesitate.

As the new alpha, Reid Holden doesn’t agree with many of the traditions his father believed in. Especially taking a woman to sacrifice once a year. Unfortunately, being on top means he’s always a target, and venomous snakes are everywhere. Even in his own family.

Tasha’s meant to be another enemy, but Reid is finding it impossible to hate her. It doesn’t help that his wolf has already claimed her. She may want him dead, but she might be the one person he’ll end up risking everything for.

Sizzling romance meets pulse-pounding suspense in Wolf Hunter, the latest gripping novel from USA Today Bestselling Author Harper A. Brooks!

Wolf Hunter is book one of the Moon Kissed Series.

•••••••

REVIEW: A new series by a relatively new author to me. But as I enjoyed her last book I decided on another by her. This one is totally different from the last book I read of hers. And I loved it.

Tasha is an assassin, a hunter renowned for her hunting skills. But her true objective is to find and kill the alpha that took her sister. She’s getting closer, honing her skills until the day she can dispense her own brand of justice!

Reid being the new leader of his fathers wolf pack brings its own issues. A strong and fearless leader he might be, but changing pack politics and traditions will take time, and not all the pack members want the changes!

It’s hate all the way for Tasha, she can’t nor won’t trust Reid.

Reid on the other hand has mixed feelings about this witch, she stirs things in him that will only cause trouble!

It’s a great story, and one I can’t wait to continue. Both Reid and Tasha are great characters, both strong, both independent, but both wanting more out of life. Neither of them expecting to feel the way they do about the enemy.

Julius (Reid’s older brother) is an interesting character, what side will he fall on? Good or just out for himself?

Liam ((Reid’s younger brother) is a poet, a sensitive soul, but he’s hiding something too! And with double crossings and betrayal around every corner, who can Reid really trust?

Magic and mystery is the thread in this book. Reid needs magic to keep the shields up that protect his pack lands, but with Tasha telling him there is something wrong within the pack, Reid is going to need more than magic to keep his pack together.

So when Tasha and Reid form a tentative alliance (she wants to find her sister, he needs a spy) you know it’s going to spell trouble.

The book gets you involved, you look at each character and wonder are they hiding something. You also have the main characters deal with their own issues and attraction to one another. And when an opportunity to escape arises, will Tasha actually want to go?

And the way this book ends! It had me yelling at my kindle!I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommended read. And one I’ll be continuing…..

Leading us into book two…..

ABOUT THE BOOK : Release Date April 26, 2022

Arrochar Adair has loved her brother’s ex-bodyguard and best friend, Mac Galbraith, for years. Once upon a time, she was too young for him, but now that she’s a mature woman in her thirties, Arro can see no issue with their difference in age. Yet something deeper, a problem much more difficult to surmount, is keeping them apart.

Mac Galbraith remembers clearly the night Arro became everything to him, no longer just his best friend and boss’s younger sister. However, having made many mistakes over the years, there is one mistake Mac is determined not to make: to believe that he is worthy of Arrochar Adair. Allowing them to grow closer during his daughter, Robyn’s, return has proven his undoing. And when Arro forces the subject of their relationship, his response pushes her away. He just never meant for it to destroy them completely.

Devastated by Mac’s final rejection, Arro is determined to move on without him in her life, though he seems intent on staying put. And when the Adair family face a new threat, one that may have ties to Mac’s past, Arro can’t seem to be rid of the man. In fact, Mac will do anything to protect her.

But with so much hurt between them, will Arro let Mac close enough to guard her from their enemy… before it’s too late?

••••••••

REVIEW:  ALWAYS YOU is the third instalment in Samantha Young’s contemporary, adult ADAIR FAMILY erotic, romance series focusing on the Adair siblings. This is forest engineer Arrochar ‘Arro’ Adair, and former police officer turned security specialist Mackennon ‘Mac’ Galbraith’s story line. ALWAYS YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as events in the current time line have been triggered by events in the past.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Arro and Mac) following several time lines, using present day and memories from the past ALWAYS YOU focuses on the friends to frenemies to lovers relationship between forest engineer Arrochar ‘Arro’ Adair, and former police officer turned security specialist Mackennon ‘Mac’ Galbraith. Arrochar Adair has been in love with her brother’s best friend Mackennon Galbraith for as long as she can remember but Mac is thirteen years older than our story line heroine, and refuses to cross an invisible line between best friend’s little sister and lover. Arrochar Adair, believing Mac felt the same way, was left humiliated and heart broken when our hero pushed Arrochar out of his life, leaving our heroine a shell of her former self but someone has targeted our story line heroine, and Mac becomes guardian and protector of the woman that calls to his heart. What ensues is the back and forth, tempestuous and struggling relationship between Mac and Arro, and the potential fall-out when a predator takes aim at our story line heroine.

Mackennon Galbraith knows a thing or two about love and loss, and never wanted to hurt our story line heroine but Mac all but destroyed Arrochar Adair, and promised himself to become a better man for the woman that he loved. Arrochar Adair has watched from the sidelines as her siblings met their significant others and fell in love but the path towards love was difficult, as each couple had to endure threats to their lives, and in this Arrochar Adair was no different believing the man that she loved was out to destroy what was left of her heart.

The relationship between Arro and Mac is a friends to frenemies to lovers relationship; a best friends younger sister affair that covers several years, numerous heart breaks, miscommunication, misunderstanding, revelations and love. Arrochar Adair knew Mackennon Galbraith would be the only man she would ever love but Mac struggled to move on from a disastrous youth, a youth that was about to come full circle threatening our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including all of Arrochar Adair’s siblings-Lachlan and Robyn (Here with Me 1),Thane and Regan (There With You 2), Brodan and Arran; and yoga instructor Eredine Willows.

ALWAYS YOU is a story of family and friendships, relationships and love; betrayal and vengeance, second chances and forgiveness. The character driven premise is captivating and engaging; the romance is heart breaking and emotional; the characters are broken, energetic but healing.
