ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 22, 2022

Ronan

The next time my brother says “Hey, I’ve got an idea,” I need to run, not walk away. I might be from a dragon shifter ruling family, but I’m not demanding a female mate with me. Yet taking my time and winning her over is going nowhere. So far, I’ve punched my card as the older neighbor who’s way too nosy about the young female next door. Then I hear about what she’s got planned. And I’m faced with giving her what she needs and letting her walk away, even at the cost of the useless beating organ in my chest.

Brighton

Mate Ronan Jade, they said. It’ll be a good match, they said. The older shifter is a walking poster of smoldering, hardworking male. He swings a hammer all day and at night… Well, that thought dominates my mind more than I’d like. The problem is that he’s a great match. Superb. And I’m an inexperienced female trying to rule my clan. It’d be too easy to let him in. To let him take over. To allow him to dominate. So I try to find another mate instead. Only Ronan finds me first.

•••••

REVIEW: This is a spin off from the Silver Dragon Shifter Brothers Series, a three book series.

Brighton we’ve meet in the previous series, it’s not necessary to read that series, but you’ll get a little more background. (But this book does supply a few moments from Brighton’s life?)
She’s the youngest ever ruler of her clan, she’s also the first female to rule. But not everyone agreed with the decision and she’s has to fight to keep her leadership. (That’s how we met her, the dragons in her clan were turning rogue and injured a Silver clan member)

Ronan is brother to both Lachlan and Venus (Lachlan is the clan leader, Venus mated Penn from the Silver clan). We met him briefly in the previous series, we don’t know too much about him, but i got the impression he wasn’t too impressed with Brighton and her clan.
But after the Silver clan step in to help Brighton, and the Jade clan offer their support in rebuilding Brighton’s town.

It’s in a sorry state, neglected and falling apart, Ronan is there as both potential mate and contractor.

It’s not love at first sight, it’s not even a like! But when an alliance is needed to help Brighton keep her clan, Ronan is drafted in!

The fireworks between these two characters just light the pages up. They bicker and banter until a moment has them rethinking they could just make this arrangement work. But someone still wants Brighton’s leadership!

I love these stories, short with plenty of action, angst and storyline to make you wish they were longer.

Brighton although inexperienced and young, her determination to make her family proud is strong (she lost her parents and older sister in an accident, which we find out wasn’t an accident!)

So can Ronan and Brighton put their differences aside and build this clan back up? Can they find a truce and maybe go from there?

ENCHANT THE DAWN (Enchant #2) by Amanda Ashely-a review

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 23, 2022

Set in steamy New Orleans, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Amanda Ashley delivers a sensually-charged and intelligent vampire romance perfect fans of J.R. Ward and Christine Feehan!

Desire. Danger. Deception. The scion of the Falconer vampire clan inspires them all…

When a mysterious man rescues Madison Bainbridge from a random attack, she sees only his broad shoulders, his gray eyes, his kindness. But as she gets to know Dominic, her attraction wars with the certainty he’s keeping big secrets. Who is the menacing beauty following him around? What of the palm-reader who stops her in the park? And who’s watching them from the shadows?

Young vampire Dominic Falconer wanted nothing more than a few weeks in New Orleans, a chance to see the city on his own. He didn’t expect to be captivated by lovely Maddy—or for enemies to surround him, eager to use the stirrings of his heart to bring down his family.

A hostile rival is out for vengeance. Dominic’s fellow Hungarian vampires are vanishing without a trace. And the shadowy Knights of the Dark Wood want nothing more than to get hold of Dominic himself. But Dominic and Maddy have a connection worth fighting for—and a passion that will awaken the unexpected in them both .

•••••

REVIEW:ENCHANT THE DAWN is the second instalment in Amanda Ashley’s contemporary, adult ENCHANT paranormal, romance series. This is twenty-five year old, vampire Dominic Falconer , and Madison Bainbridge’s story line. ENCHANT THE DAWN can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading book one ENCHANT THE NIGHT.

SOME BACKGROUND: Twenty-five year earlier, vampire Quill Falconer, killed the leader of the Knights of the Dark Wood, a brotherhood of warlocks whose goal is to rid the world of the blood sucking vampires.

Told from third person perspective ENCHANT THE DAWN picks up twenty five years after the killing of the last Elder Knight, and the Knights of the Dark Wood are seeking vengeance for the one that they lost. Unable to locate the vampire responsible, the Knights discover that Quill Falconer’s vampire son Dominic Falconer is currently living in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the Knights are determined to get their revenge targeting our story line hero. Dominic Falconer is protected by his great grandmother Ava, a powerful witch who knows a thing or two about revenge, herself, and with her magic, Ava intends to protect a young man who is determined to protect the woman he will love.

Meanwhile, a young woman is saved from an attack by our story line hero, a young woman with whom Dominic will fall in love. Enter Madison Bainbridge, a woman who is about to discover a world of supernatural creatures, creatures whose powers she knows nothing about. What ensues is the building but struggling romance and relationship between Dominic and Madison, and the potential fall-out as our couple are target by more than one predator, targeted for sins of the past.

There is more than one magical creature looking for our story line hero. From the Knights of the Dark Wood, to a warlock desperate for his freedom, to a female vampire whose lust for the Falconer blood knows no boundaries including past alliances and sins. Dominic is determined to woo the woman that calls to his heart, a woman who will quickly learn there is something more in the world in which she lives.

The relationship between Dominic and Madison is a slow building romance. Dominic struggles to reveal the nature of his beast, fearing Madison will not accept the man he has become. Madison struggles with the truth about the man with whom she is falling in love but quickly realizes it is the man that she loves, not the monster within. The $ex scenes are passionate but mostly implied.

The secondary and supporting characters include Elder Knight Gregory, warlock Jasper, Dominic’s great grandmother Ava Langley, vampire Claret, Madison’s parents, as well as the return of Dominic’s parents Quill and Callie Falconer.

ENCHANT THE DAWN is a detailed and complex story of revenge and obsession, magic and power, love and forever. I recommend reading book one as the events of the current time are as of a direct result of the events of book one. The premise is intriguing and entertaining but something was missing –there is more telling than showing; the characters are interesting and energetic; the romance is subtle .

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 15, 2022

I was stolen by the Fae. Trapped in a cell while they played tricks on my mind and body counting down the days until I would waste away to nothing.
But then he came. The golden fae king. He freed me. He promised to send me home. But I should be used to fae tricks by now. Because he was never going to let me go.
He had just taken me for himself. And if I thought I was in trouble before, that was nothing.
Because now I belong to the Seelie King

•••••••

REVIEW: FAE’S POSSESSION is the third instalment in Melody Raven’s contemporary, adult WICKED FAE paranormal, romance series. This is King of the Seelie Fae Seran, and human female student Lucy’s story line. FAE’S POSSESSION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

SOME BACKGROUND: In a war between the Dark and the Light Fae, a spell was launched that got out of control leaving all of the Fae woman dead or barren. The Light have been accused of killing most of the Dark Fae women and children, and in the ensuing aftermath, the Dark Fae were slowly dying out. In an attempt to repopulate the Dark Fae species, the Unseelie began a series of human abductions, in an effort to see if the matings will work.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Seran and Lucy) FAE’S POSSESSION follows in the aftermath of the abduction of Lucy and a number of students at a college part. Lucy didn’t want to go to the party but upon her arrival she knew immediately something was wrong. Refusing to eat or drink anything that was served she soon realized not all was as it seemed, a glamor had been forced upon everyone in attendance. Finding herself a prisoner of the Fae, more specifically a powerful Fae named Culven, she would be rescued by the man with whom she would fall in love. Enter King Seran. What ensues is the rescue and seduction of our story line heroine, and the fall-out as Culven comes searching for the one who got away.

King Seran knew immediately that the human female was his mate but controlling his future wife would be more difficult as the human female struggled to trust in the face of what happened and why. Hoping to rescue all of the women trapped within Culven’s spell, Lucy and Seran would have to give everyone a choice, a choice to return or become the mate of a Fae.

The relationship between Seran and Lucy begins acrimoniously as Lucy is the captive of Culven. Refusing to eat or drink anything Culven has to offer, Lucy finds herself at an advantage, fully aware of everything going on. Upon her rescue, Seran would claim Lucy as his own but our heroine continued to battle between head and heart knowing most of the women were never given a choice. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word.

We are introduced to Seran’s second in command Dagen, as well as the return of King Jaiden and his mate Raina (Fae’s Claimed 2), and a number of Fae and Elves who don’t take lightly to possibility of Lucy ascending the throne.

FAE’S POSSESSION is a story of desperation and obsession, magic, power and control, love and attraction. The premise is entertaining; the romance is seductive; the characters are desperate and determined.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

In a world where safety is a luxury and honor is found only among outlaws, two people attempt to outrun dangers lurking around each corner and the tragedies that define them.

Bonnie is an outlaw on the run. Beautiful but dangerous; her dark past stalks her like the crater beasts that roam the desert. As the notoriously cruel outlaw Jones sends his henchmen to track her down and retrieve the gun she stole from him, Bonnie hopes she can stay one step ahead. Because if he catches her, a fate worse than death awaits.

Jesse always dreamed of leaving the farm to explore the ruins of the big cities he’d heard about his whole life. He just never imagined he’d be forced to flee after strange men burned down his rural mountain town and murdered everyone he loved. Responsible for his kid brother and searching for an uncle he’s never met before, he isn’t sure he can navigate the perils of life among con artists and thieves long enough to find him.

Their two paths collide as they find themselves thrown together on the adventure of a lifetime.

Together, they may just discover that life is about more than just surviving.

••••••

REVIEW:GUNS & SMOKE is the first instalment in the new adult post-apocalyptic THE FOOL’S ADVENTURE series co—authored by Lauren Sevier and Abbie Lynn Smith focusing on Jesse, Bonnie and Jesse’s ten year old, younger brother Harry aka The Kid.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

SOME BACKGROUND: Years earlier, The United States entered into a post apocalyptic era in the aftermath of an event known as ‘the culling’, when ‘greedy, entitled men had access to nuclear bombs’. In the years that followed, what remained of the American people suffered at the hands of assassins and killers, gangs and thugs in a lawless society governed by no one.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jesse and Bonnie) GUNS & SMOKE follows the cross country journey of Jesse, Bonnie and Jesse’s ten year old, younger brother Harry aka the Kid, a journey in search of Jesse’s sole remaining family in Roswell, New Mexico. Bonnie likes to play the ‘con’ and Jesse was going to be her next target but Bonnie never expected to come face to face with the man with whom she would fall in love, a young man who was desperate to find the only other family he knew anything about. With the help of our heroine, Jesse and Harry head off on a dangerous adventure where the past is always one step behind, a past that is determined to take back what doesn’t belong. As Bonnie battles between head and heart with her feelings towards our story line hero, Jesse struggles to convince Bonnie his world would be better with Bonnie in his life.

GUNS & SMOKE reads like a cross between ‘The Walking Dead’ (sans the zombies) and the American Wild West. Cities and infrastructure no longer exist, encampments, towns and survivors are few and far between; food and water are a rare commodity, death and destruction, assassins and slavers are the way of the world. Few people remember a time before the culling, while those born after, know nothing about the time before.

Sevier and Smith take the reader onto a journey of what if: survival against the odds, against the elements, against humanity destroying itself. The premise is dark and gritty; the characters are desperate and determined. There is a romance and relationship developing between our leading couple, a relationship that will be sabotaged from outside and within. GUNS & SMOKE ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 18, 2022′

Being an Omega used to be the dream everyone wanted. Now it’s a nightmare.

Packs are a thing of the past, blackmarket dealers kidnap Omegas off the street, and the ones that escape are little better than pawns for the government to control.

So when my designation revealed itself in the worst situation possible, I ran. Or I tried to. While trying to escape, I found myself in an even worse fate at the hands of my abuser— my father. Now that he knows I’m an Omega he sees me as nothing more than a commodity, locking me away until he could legally sell me to the highest bidder.

Risking death, I take my one and only chance to break free. My only hope now is to seek help in the only place I think I can trust. And I find more than just shelter. I find love, affection, and the pack I always dreamed of having. But Omegas are still the most coveted object in this world that’s as broken as I am; and even the men who’ve started to heal my heart may not be able to save me.

•••••

REVIEW:Another new author for me to fall in love with. Beautifully written and really well thought out.

It centres around a young woman called Cambrie…..

Cambrie has had a hard childhood that got even harder when she emerges as an omega. (Omega’s are rare and will bring peace to a pack, unscrupulous people will take/kidnap and sell Omega’s for the right price). Trying to escape her father sees her being made a prisoner in her own home for two years, but when the opportunity to escape arises again, Cambrie takes it…..

The pack she stumbles into is just what she’s needs. Each of the guys brings something to Cambrie’s well being. Alphas and Betas that will do anything for her. But her father isn’t giving up that easy, and the government are interested in her and the pack that took her in…..

Cambrie, Marius, Nixon, Spencer, Rafael, Oscar, and Bodhi are finding their way through this new relationship.

And reading about the hardships Cambrie went through is hard going, but you get why it’s hard for her to fully trust anyone. The dynamics of the pack before Cambrie gives me the impression they were happy but not a proper bonded pack.

This book is more than just one woman finding multiple partners and living happily ever after. This world is in chaos, Omegas are in short supply after a terrorist attack wiped out a majority of mothers who were pregnant or would carry Omegas. The terrorists thought that Alphas and Omegas were favoured over Beta’s, so they figured get rid of Omegas and the Betas would take the place of the Omega. But the Omega holds the pack together, so without them most packs went through the motions.

We also have the ruling council that are definitely hiding things! Then we have Savo ……. (That’s something I wasn’t expecting ?)

I’ve also noticed that it’s no longer acceptable to use the phrase Reverse Harem, the term Why Choose has been deemed more appropriate, so from now on that’s what I’ll be using when it’s one woman with multiple partners.

Cliffhanger? Definitely. But it seems we don’t have too long to wait till the next book. Which I can’t wait for.

So if you like your story with multiple partners and a little drama, then this book is for you. Be advised that there could be possible triggers in this book for some people. Please check the warning before grabbing this book.

•••••••••

REVIEW:  BAD BLOOD by Faith Summers is a stand alone, contemporary, new adult, dark Mafia, bully romance novella set in the author’s Raventhorn Academy and Dark Syndicate worlds. This is Bratva heirs Chad Volchkov, and Billie Fairchild’s story line.

NOTE: Bad Blood was originally released in the April 2022 FILTHY ELITES anthology.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Chad and Billie) BAD BLOOD focuses on Billie Fairchild’s arrival at Raventhorn Academy, a prep school for the infamous, rich, powerful and elite. Billie’s arrival at Raventhorn is unwelcome by Bratva heir Chad Volchkov, a young man who blames Billie’s father for everything that has gone wrong in his life. Chad is determined to destroy our story line heroine, and in doing so, break what’s left of Billie’s psyche and soul. What ensues is the bullying and destructive attachment between Billie and Chad, and the fall-out as someone else seeks revenge against our story line couple.

Billie Fairchild’s only sin is to be the daughter of a sick and twisted man. Billie’s father is blamed for the destruction of Chad Volchkov’s family and his mother’s life, and in this, Chad is determined to seek vengeance against our story line heroine but all does not go according to plan when Chad begins to fall for the young woman he was hoping to destroy.

The relationship between Chad and Billie begins acrimoniously within minutes of Billie first arriving at school. From the outset Chad sets his sights on our story line heroine-stalking, emotionally and mentally abusing, blackmailing and a number of acts of questionable consent. Billie struggles in the face of the threats against her life and her heart, and in this, she gives in to the demands and orders of the man with whom she will fall in love. The $ex scenes are aggressive and intense.

The secondary and supporting characters include the requisite mean girl(s), easy girls, young Bratva crew in training, and the questionable actions of the people in charge.

BAD BLOOD is a fast paced, and heart breaking story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, abuse, bullying and aggression, acceptance and love. The premise is dramatic, dark and often disheartening; the characters are broken, desperate and dynamic; the romance is questionable on so many levels.

Code Name: Omega (Jameson Force Security 10) by Sawyer Bennett-review

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 16, 2022.

I joined the team at Jameson Force Security three months ago and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. Leaving behind the Marine Corps together, my dog Omega and I made the cross-country trek to Pittsburgh for an exciting new career. Now I get to spend my days doing dangerous missions with my team and Omega gets to spend his days relaxing, unless there are explosives to be sniffed, and then he’s all paws on deck.

When Omega—who I affectionately refer to as Bubba—snacks on something he most definitely shouldn’t have, an emergency trip to the vet introduces me to Abigail Blackburn. She’s a little quirky, a lot smart, and completely captivating. She also has a penchant for trouble and when Abby makes it her own personal mission to expose the puppy mill industry, she finds herself mixed up with unsavory characters who aren’t happy with her efforts to cut into their profits

This seedy underbelly is a dangerous place, particularly for a well-intentioned, yet somewhat naïve, small-town vet. What began as peaceful protests outside of local pet stores has escalated into something that threatens Abby’s safety, and I refuse to sit by and watch her get hurt. Somehow this raven-haired beauty has gotten under my skin, and I don’t hesitate to call in my teammates at Jameson to help keep her safe.

Now I find myself trying to balance my need to protect Abby while helping her successfully complete her mission, but also redirecting her focus long enough to show her that I’ve completely fallen for her. One thing is certain—this is going to be my toughest assignment yet.

Upon his return from his latest assignment for Jameson Force Security, newest security specialist and former S Marine Kellen McCord finds himself in need of an emergency veterinarian visit when his beloved dog Bubba aka Omega, a retired military dog, refuses to eat. As Abby battles between head and heart with the horrific condition of the puppies and dogs, Kellen pulls in the team at Jameson Force Security to begin an investigation of their own, an investigation that reveals plenty of criminal activity not on the local radar.
