ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 18, 2022.

You will wander, you will roam

SORIN: He is Zmeu, one of the great dragons of myth.

As a young dragon, he was told an important truth: Dragons do not fall in love. They definitely do not fall in love with mortal women.

It’s a lesson Sorin takes to heart. He might have had a mortal mother, but mortals had also killed her, leaving him alone.

A dragon grown, he dwells in an impenetrable castle, living a dragon’s best life. He dances with fae swan maidens, steals baubles from unknowing kings, scoffs at mortals stumbling through life wasting time on war, hate…love.

Then love finds him.

In the village of his birth, a woman teaches him a truth his dragon family hadn’t—it’s rather easy for a dragon to find love.

Ever seeking solace, ever seeking home

Easy to love, yes. But understanding the woman who steals his heart? Not so easy. He doesn’t realize it at the time, his arrogance leading him to assume he knew best. After all, he was a dragon. Sorin’s arrogance led to her death…and a curse.

Hundreds of years later, living in the New World as the world prepares for war, he is almost numb to the curse that haunts him still.

You will wander, you will roam, they’d said. He did. But seeking solace, seeking home? Home and solace were lost to him, every bit as much as his love.

As penance, he guards the mortals in his territory, as she had protected those under her care. He’ll hold off the coming war as long as possible. When the time comes to take up a sword—or breathe fire—he will. It’s little comfort, but his lost love would expect him to protect. So he does.

One night, a sudden awareness yanks him from deepest sleep. Chasing the faint magical trail, he finds a woman battling for her life. Just before a killing strike, he sees her eyes…eyes of haunting green.

The eyes of the woman he’d loved, the eyes of the woman he’d killed.

REVIEW:  A DRAGON’S DESIRE is the second instalment in Shiloh Walker’s adult THE PRETERN WARS paranormal/fantasy romance series. This is dragon shifter Sorin, and Adela/Witchling Fae Gia’s story line. A DRAGON’S DESIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from third person perspective, covering several hundred years, A DRAGON’S DESIRE focuses on Zmeu dragon Sorin, a powerful beast who, hundreds of years earlier, fell hard for a human, a need that eventually killed the woman he could never love. Cursed to wander the world without friendship or love, Sorin eventually takes refuge in America, considering sleeping for all eternity. Fast forward to present day wherein Sorin, who now lays claim to a vast territory in the United States, is drawn to a stranger, a stranger who bears a striking familiarity to the woman he lost. Enter Gia, a witchling/Fae, a powerful supernatural in her own right but a woman who is protecting a young boy from a fate bestowed upon him by a powerful curse. As Gia, Sorin, Amy and her young son Wyn Bitterbirch, journey away from the hate that follows, a build up to war is directed at anyone not considered normal by human standards.

There is a war approaching, a war between the humans and ‘preternatural’ beings including witches and dragons, shifters and Fae. The revelation of ‘something other’ has provoked the fear of the unknown, and a war to decimate anything or anyone not of human blood is about to take hold, killing millions and destroying thousands of lives.

The relationship between Sorin and Gia is one of second chances, of a sorts. Gia is the embodiment of Adela, the woman Sorin wanted as a mate but a woman Sorin destroyed by his need and lust. Not necessarily a story of reincarnation but a tale of transmigration in which Adela’s memories, soul and magic are now a part of someone else. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

We are introduced to Amy, and her son Wyn Bitterbirch, a young boy who is a halfling Fae. The requisite evil has many faces.

A DRAGON’S DESIRE is a story of lust and need, obsession and revelation, discrimination and speciesism, forgiveness, acceptance and love. The premise is entertaining, dramatic and captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are powerful and strong.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 17, 2022

Can a war-weary commander win the heart of his independent mate before the Pylorians silence her forever?

Dracus has known nothing but war. With Morax hostilities escalating and a rebellion brewing among his own troops, he doesn’t see that changing any time soon. Then Addison visits Lunar Prime. Now he is in the grip of bonding fever and all he can think about is claiming his mate. She is stubborn and independent. Good thing he thrives on challenge.

Addison is brought to Lunar Prime when her life is threatened, but secrets draw her back to Earth. Her attraction to Dracus is instant and powerful. Still, she is not willing to redefine her life to please a male. Even one as tempting as Dracus.

•••••••

REVIEW: DRACUS is the fourth instalment in Cyndi Friberg’s adult LUNAR UPRISING sci-fi, romance series. This is lunar raider Commander Dracus Soons, and human female/podcaster/bar owner Addison Doherty’s story line. DRACUS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout.

SOME BACKGROUND: Approximately eight years earlier, six Pylorian spaceships arrived on Earth asking for asylum claiming they were fleeing their immortal enemy, the wolf-like Morax, but in the ensuing years, the Pylorian began to take control, using their considerable powers to force the governments of Earth to do their bidding. In an effort to protect Earth, the Pylorian’s claim to have cultivated aka created the lunar raiders, a hybrid of three alien species (Morax, Pylorian, Dox Tory) one of which reacts instantly when their destined mate is near.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Dracus and Addison) DRACUS follows two pathways: the building romance and relationship between Addison and Dracus, and the ongoing war between the Morax, the Pylorians, the Lunar Raiders, the rebels, several outlying species, and the humans of Earth. The Pylorians have begun inhabiting Earth making humans dependant upon Pylorian technology but a new face has arrived in the war between worlds, a species offering hybrid weaponry capable of destroying warships and cities. When close to forty percent of the Guardians have deactivated from the Lunar Raider ‘collective’, Dracus and the his team must uncover the truth, leaving his mate behind.

Meanwhile, Addison Doherty struggles in the face of ‘abandoning’ her life on Earth for a romance and relationship with a hybrid male but Addison’s ‘choice’ is taken away when the Rebels target everything she left behind, taking our heroine prisoner in an attempt to take down the people in charge. Distraught and disheartened, Addison returns to Lunar Prime where she will fall in love with the mate of her heart but an attack leaves Dracus fighting for his life, as the Lunar Raiders must consider from whom and where the betrayal began.

The relationship between Addison and Dracus is one of fated mates, immediate attraction. Dracus knows Addison is his mate but Addison struggles in the face of her humanity, and leaving everything behind. Initially, a little TSTL, Addison returns to Earth believing all would remain the same but Addison is now a target, taking aim at our story line hero. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We welcome the return of Leko and Julia, Zorak and Cat, Rogar and Marisol, as well as Leko’s guardian Numid, Commander Vosic, Dr. Benlon and Pylorian whistleblower Olarra Kreth. The requisite evil has many faces.

DRACUS is a story of betrayal and vengeance, discrimination and specieism, secrets and lies, understanding and acceptance, desperation, family, friendships and love. The fast paced premise captivating and entertaining-a combination of Star Wars™ and Star Trek™ technology, AI and sentient ships: the characters are powerful, energetic and strong; the romance is passionate and fated.

A Line in the Sand by Teri Wilson – a Review

Description:
The perfect summertime rom com with a bright, sparkling love story.

Sparks fly when Molly Prince’s puppy digs up the beachfront where marine biologist Max Miller is studying sea turtles. Max and Molly are instantly attracted to each other, but Molly thinks Max is a jerk andMax refuses to take Molly seriously in her job as the local aquarium’s mermaid. But when the puppy turns out to have the unique ability to sniff out sea turtle nests, she might bring Max and Molly close enough to help save the turtles, revive business at the struggling aquarium, and maybe even fall in love.

Review:

A Line in the Sand begins with Molly Prince and her dog, Ursula, at the dog beach.  She is visiting with Opal, Mavis and Ethel who are locals and reside at the Turtle Beach Senior Center.  While visiting, they see a stranger who is heading out into the water with the problem being swimming isn’t allowed past a certain point.  Molly heads down to the shore to warn the guy, who by now, has gotten in over his head…. literally.  Molly dives in and safely pulls the stranger to shore.

Max was fine one minute and the next thing he knew he was on his back on the beach looking up at a mermaid.  Still confused, he looks around to see a whole lot of things that don’t make sense: elderly women on walkers, a dog named Ursula, poodles……  He knew that Turtle Beach was always quirky, but this takes the cake.  Eventually, Molly (who works at the local aquarium as a mermaid) introduces herself and tells him not to swim in that particular area of the beach again.

Max, a marine biologist, eventually heads over to see the senior center’s newest resident, his Uncle Henry.  Max came to the island after quitting his job in the city’s National Aquarium.  He had put his heart and soul into that place and was up for a promotion……. that went to someone else.  Having had enough, and with his Uncle Henry not able to run the Turtle Beach Aquarium any longer, Max came “home”.  Trying to get information out of his Uncle Henry was like trying to herd cats, so Max sets out to do the best he can with the aquarium.

Once Max and Molly figure out whom the other is, misunderstandings abound (who wouldn’t want an adorable doggo named Ursala at work??) and Molly gets fired.  However, once the town finds out what happened, Max has no choice but to hire Molly back.  Come to find out, she more than ran the place, she was it’s very soul.  And, if he were being honest with himself, she was becoming a part of him as well.  If only he could stop stepping in it………

A Line in the Sand is a wonderfully written quirky story!  Molly is lovable and loyal.  Max was a bit of a work in progress, but you pull for him right from the beginning.  The chemistry between the two of them may not be scorching, but it is there simmering.   The secondary characters are amazing!  The residents of the senior center are LOL funny and full of surprises.  There are dogs everywhere, which is very endearing and just wait until Ursala saves the day!  I had no idea this was a series and look forward to going back and reading the first book and can’t wait for the next installment.  If you’re looking for a fun, sweet and quirky read, this one is for you!  Well done, Teri Wilson!  Very well done!

The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie by Rachel Linden – a Review

The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie by Rachel Linden – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
Lolly Blanchard’s life only seems to give her lemons. Ten years ago, after her mother’s tragic death, she broke up with her first love and abandoned her dream of opening a restaurant in order to keep her family’s struggling Seattle diner afloat and care for her younger sister and grieving father. Now, a decade later, she dutifully whips up the diner’s famous lemon meringue pies each morning while still pining for all she’s lost.

As Lolly’s thirty-third birthday approaches, her quirky great-aunt gives her a mysterious gift–three lemon drops, each of which allows her to live a single day in a life that might have been hers. What if her mom hadn’t passed away? What if she had opened her own restaurant in England? What if she hadn’t broken up with the only man she’s ever loved? Surprising and empowering, each experience helps Lolly let go of her regrets and realize the key to transforming her life lies not in redoing her past but in having the courage to embrace her present.

Review:

The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie by Rachel Linden is a stand-alone novel. This is a wonderful story that took me by surprise, as the concept was different and very good.  We meet Lolly Blanchard, our heroine, who helps run the family diner, which is coming on hard times; she makes her own lemon meringue pies very early each morning.   10 years ago, after her mother’s death, Lolly abandoned her dream of opening up her own restaurant in Europe, determined to care for her young sister and grieving father.  As her 33rd birthday approaches, her sister (Daphne) reminds her of a list she made years ago, which she never had the time to explore; she thinks about what she lost over the years, including her restaurant dream and the loss of the love of her life, Rory Shaw.

Lolly’s great Aunt Gert offers her a chance to revisit some of her regrets; to go back in time and see if she would take a different path. Her aunt gives her three magical lemon drops, allowing her to live a single day in her life to see what would have been.  Lolly will choose three different situations, such as opening her restaurant in England; visiting her mom, if she didn’t pass away; and seeing her life with Rory, if she never broke up with him.  This was amazing to see how Lolly was able to look at what her life could have been.  To say too much more would be spoilers, and you need to read this from start to finish.

The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie was a delightful, lighthearted, fun and charming story of family, love, second chances, with a wonderful heroine in Lolly. This was so very well written by Rachel Linden, which was also emotional.  I wholly suggest you read The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie, as it was a great read that pulled on many emotions.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 26, 2022

Bristol Anderson will do anything to protect her younger siblings. Even if it means embezzling from the company where she’s a temp. No one will find out. And the wealthy owner of the venture capitalist firm will never notice.

Except Will LeBlanc doesn’t miss a thing.

He could call the police, but he has more interesting plans for her. In the copy room. On the conference table. Under his desk.

The coldhearted capitalist will make her pay back every last cent.

•••••

REVIEW:BLACKMAIL is the first instalment in Amelia Wilde’s contemporary adult CONTROLLING INTEREST erotic, dark, romance trilogy focusing on billionaire businessman Will LeBlanc, and temp Bristol Anderson. BLACKMAIL and the Controlling Interest series is a spin off from, and set in the same world as the Author’s THE COLLECTOR trilogy focusing on Will’s brother Emerson LeBlanc. Will’s brothers Emerson and Sinclair cross over for cohesion and back story.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise including graphic violence and sexual blackmail, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Will and Bristol) BLACKMAIL follows Bristol Anderson as she struggles in the aftermath of her father’s indiscretions. Trying to keep a roof over their heads, and raising her younger siblings in the wake of her father’s troubles, Bristol Anderson embezzles $50,000 from the investment firm where she is working temporarily, embezzlement that is discovered within hours of implementing. To pay off her sins, Bristol is ‘forced’ to work alongside, and do everything Will LeBlanc demands including any and all sexual favors both in and out of the proverbial bedroom but there is more at stake including the lives of Bristol and her younger siblings Mia and Ben, lives that are threatened for sins of the past. What ensues is the forced acrimonious and tempestuous relationship between Bristol and Will, and the potential fall-out as Bristol begins to fall for the man that can easily destroy her life with the flick of a pen.

Will LeBlanc hides behind the expensive suits and fast cars but Will’s demons are dangerous and dark. Some of his past reveals a heart breaking and abusive childhood, one he shared with his brothers Sinclair and Emerson. The abuse has left its’ mark on the LeBlanc siblings, and the resulting fall-out reveals Will to be not only a danger to himself but a danger to everyone else. Bristol Anderson knows her father is a con-man, who has placed his family in the direct line of fire. Protecting her ten year old siblings is paramount but playing her own con has forced Bristol into a life she never wanted or intended to live.

The relationship between Bristol and Will begins as boss and temporary employee that quickly turns into sexual blackmail, and demeaning threats. Bristol knows to refuse means a possible prison sentence but she doesn’t have a choice when it concerns Mia and Ben. Will demands everything from our story line heroine, always reminding her of the money she owes, how she has placed herself in a position to be used and abused, and her past indiscretions, lightly veiled threats of future problems. The $ex scenes are aggressive and intense.

The secondary and supporting characters include Bristol’s siblings Ben and Mia, as well as their disaster of a father: CFO Christa Hong, as well as several corporate employees. We are reintroduced to Will’s brother Emerson and Sinclair LeBlanc. The requisite evil has many faces.

BLACKMAIL is a dark, dramatic and intense story. The premise is captivating and gritty; the characters are broken, energetic and charismatic; the romance is limited to sexual demands, and blackmail favors BLACKMAIL ends on a cliffhanger-you have been warned.

ABOUT THE BOOK: RELEASE DATE: August 2, 2022

After spending years of his life in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, Nevin Walsh doesn’t know where he fits in anymore. His family has changed, and the world is a very different place.

But then, his brother’s best friend, Luna Gallo, makes it her personal mission to help him settle back into his newfound freedom. He should say no. Turn her away. But there’s something about the woman who radiates sunshine that makes her impossible to ignore. And the harder he pushes her away, the harder she comes.

And what starts off as an unwanted friendship turns into something he never expects. But can Nevin let go of the hurt from his past to allow himself happiness in his future?

•••••

REVIEW: The Men of Ink are back with the Heatwave book ten, and this one hits all the feels. As I always do, I recommend reading the series in order, but it can be read as a standalone.

Nevin Walsh is out of prison and breathing fresh air again, after serving time for a crime he didn’t commit. Things are not as he remembers, people have moved on, family is gone, and the places he thought would never change are harder than ever to recognize. He has resigned himself to his new life, but Luna has other plans. Plans that will test his hard earned patience.

Luna is a Gallo, and we all know what that means. With a promise to Nevin’s brother Ian; her very own best friend, she is determined to help Nevin assimilate to a life of freedom. Nevin is all doom and gloom, and Luna is a happy ray of sunshine. They butt heads at every turn, but that also leads them to their connection and chemistry. With a future now brighter than he ever thought possible again, can Nevin let go of the pain of his past and move on?

I adore the grumpy sunshine trope!! It was such an adventure. Reading as Luna broke down the walls that Nevin had built to protect himself, to see his vulnerability and hope. Nevin wants Luna more than his next breath before he finally gives into her charms. When they finally make a breakthrough, Luna is out for blood when she decides that Nevin is it for her. Nevin thinks he is alone in the world, with no one on his side anymore, little does he know that Luna is not only on his side, but so is the rest of the Gallo clan.

I have loved the Gallo series so much and I am always going back to read my favorites. Nevin and Luna have definitely cracked the top five. Chelle Bliss’ track record of amazing books is still intact, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
