The third and final book in the Walker Security: Lucifer Trilogy…

In the mind-blowing and stunning finale, all will be revealed as Lucifer’s forever with the woman he loves hangs in the balance

•••••

REVIEW LUKE’S REVENGE is the third and final instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult LUCIFER’S TRILOGY, erotic, romantic suspense series-a part of the author’s Walker Security world. This is is the continuing story of Walker Security specialist and pilot Luke ‘Lucifer’ Remington, and FBI Agent Ana Banks. LUKE’S REVENGE should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of LUKE’S TOUCH aka LUCIFER’S TOUCH.

SOME BACKGROUND: Six years earlier Luke Remington met and fell in love with FBI Agent Ana Banks but life, death, betrayal and vengeance pushed Luke out of Ana’s life, and in the two years since they have been apart, Ana struggles to accept what happened and why. When Luke gets word that he and Ana, as well as several members of his original team are part of a hit list, Luke and the team from Walker Security go in search of the woman he loves, only discover betrayal at the highest level.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Luke and Ana) LUKE’S REVENGE picks up immediately after the events of Luke’s Touch in which Luke and Ana continue to rebuild their fractured relationship, as they search for the truth, and a missing package no one knows anything about. A necessary return to The Ranch, her late father’s sanctuary and training grounds for assassins and elites, Anna and Luke must face the reality that all is not as it appears to be. Struggling to comprehend the how and why of more than one personal betrayal, our couple, with the help of Walker Security, search for the elusive ‘package’, a package that has resulted in the death of many, and the double cross of many more.

The relationship between Luke and Ana continues to rebuild but Ana struggles with what was; what happened, and the possibility of it happening again. Luke knows that Ana is the only woman that can hold his heart but he has to prove to our heroine, she is everything he has ever wanted and more. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include many of the Walker Security team members we have met in previous story lines: Savage, Adam.Parker, and Blake Walker.

LUKE’S REVENGE is a story of power and control, greed and obsession, betrayal and vengeance, forgiveness and family, second chances and love. The premise is dramatic, intriguing and engaging; the romance is seductive and intense; the characters are charismatic and dynamic.

You’re my everything, Ana. You know that, right? I cannot lose you again.”I’d tell him I feel the same. I’d tell him how much I need him and how thankful I am that he’s here now, but I never get the chance. His mouth slants over my mouth. And then he’s kissing me again, and it’s not the tentative, trying-to-hold-back kiss he’d offered me downstairs. No, this kiss is different. It’s possessive, greedy even, a fierce addictive demand of his tongue, that is as seductive as it is impossible to resist. This is what I need. He is what I need right now.

I lean into him, press to my toes, and reach for any and every part of him I can manage to touch. Touching him is as addictive as the kiss and I can’t get enough of his sinewy muscle beneath my hands. I want him naked, but somehow that feels too complicated, and everything is just so damn complicated right now. I slide my hand down the front of his jeans and press my palm to the thick bulge of his erection against his zipper.

A low, gruff sound escapes his lips and he lifts me and carries me toward the bathroom, which I suspect is because the lock on the door of the bedroom is broken and we are about to be naked and not soon enough. He sets me down, his hands sliding under my shirt, his fingers roughly teasing my nipples. I moan against the sensation, and his mouth on my mouth, drinking in the sound, drinking in me. I’ve had moments in my time with Luke when I’ve been desperate for him, but this time is different. This time it feels like everything we are together is on the line and I don’t know why. He is here. I am here. We both want to be here.

Maybe it’s the realization that we were never in control. We never chose to travel the path that divided us. Everyone else did, and one of those people is tied up downstairs. Someone I should be happy to see, but for reasons I can’t explain, that reach deeper than his lies, that’s not what I feel. I don’t know what I feel.

And I’m thinking too much.

Luke handles that though. God does he. He drags my shirt over my head, and my bra is gone in seconds. Already he’s leaning in, suckling my nipples, sending waves of pleasure through me. My fingers dive into his hair, twisting, and not gently. His mouth is not gentle either. He suckles me to the point of pain that is an absolute pleasure. How does he know exactly what to do? How does he get everything so right? My sex clenches, and I am so wet, it’s almost embarrassing, an intense throb between my legs, where I need him nice and hard and buried deep right now. Because that’s what I want. Him inside me. Me lost in every thrust and pump of his body. Lost in him. Connected to him, so much so that there is room for nothing but him. I reach for his pants again, impatient for him, God, I need him. He cups my face and tilts my gaze to his. “Say it, Ana.”
“Which part? I love you or please fuck me?”

His eyes glow with male satisfaction, which I love, as much as I do him. Because that look in his eyes means he’s the kind of animal I need right now. “Fuck me, please,” I repeat.

He kisses me, biting my lips, pinching my nipples and it’s a brutal, sweet perfection. I’m panting when his lips part mine, and he turns me to face the sink forcing me to catch my hands on the counter. I’d complain about not being able to touch him, but he’s touching me, and that makes up for it. His eyes meet mine in the mirror, and he watches me as he plays with my hard, puckered nipples, my teeth worrying my lip, eyes fluttering. But even when they shut, I can feel his hot, hungry stare, feel his lust and desire.

Reckless Fortune by M.M. Crane – Review & Giveaway

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
Bowie Fortune has always liked a risky proposition. A bush pilot out in the Last Frontier, flying in and out of places that give most pilots nightmares is what he lives for. That and his off-the-grid home out by Lost Lake, where his family has been living up close with the elements for generations. When his sister dares him to participate in the local version of a mail-order bride contest, he’s not interested–but Bowie doesn’t back down from a challenge. Even when the challenge turns out to be a woman who makes him want every last thing he knows he shouldn’t.

Entering a summer-long publicity stunt in far-off Alaska might seem extreme, but Autumn McCall has always had an indomitable spirit. She took care of her sisters and father after her mother died, and this is more of the same–since she intends to win the contest. Immersing herself in the pioneer lifestyle is one thing, but what she isn’t expecting is brooding, sharp-eyed Bowie with his wicked smile. As the sparks fly between them, will they burn each other alive–or learn how to simmer their way to a much bigger prize…together?

Review:

Reckless Fortune by M.M. Crane is the 2nd book in her The Fortunes of Lost Lake series. We meet Bowie Fortune, our hero, at that start, when he accepts a dare from his sister, to enter a mail order bride contest.  Lost Lake is now in the midst of a three-month summer, and the contest will bring him face to face with his mail order bride, who is a beautiful woman, whom he cannot take his eyes off of her.

Autumn McCall, our heroine, is independent, smart, savvy and devoted to her sisters and father.  Autumn is determined to win the contest, as she needs the money to pay off some family debts. When she meets Bowie, she is shocked that he is a tall handsome hunk, with a wicked smile, but though they both start off on the wrong foot, they each know that they will have to work together to have a chance to win the contest.  Autumn will travel to Lost Lake, and immerse herself in the pioneer lifestyle; but what she finds is a group of people, who treat her like family, and she discovers how much she is enjoying this small town. The sparks fly, as Autumn fights off her attraction to Bowie, ann he also does the same.  But best laid plans do not always work out.

What follows is a wonderful delightful adventure, with Bowie taking Autumn to different sights, and when something goes wrong, they become stranded.  Bowie knows they are in danger, because once Summer is over, the snow and cold will come.  Will they survive?  I loved how Bowie knew he was falling hard for Violet, slowly opening his heart. Autumn also fell hard for Bowie, and soon they would succumb to their feelings. I loved Bowie and Autumn together, and hoped they would find a way to stay together. The banter between them was amazing, and their chemistry was off the wall; even if they were very different, yet so great.    The secondary characters of this series are awesome, as it was great to see many of the Lost Lake characters, we meet in the first book.

Reckless Fortune was a wonderful, cozy, fun, book to read, that was very well written by M.M. Crane, and look forward to what she has in store for us in the next book of this series.  If you enjoy romance, great couple, wonderful characters, then you need to start this series.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 26, 2022

Never in a million years did I think I’d be jilted on my wedding day.

Around the time Asher Rose was supposed to say “I do”, she was bellied up to a bar full of bikers, three sheets to the wind and feeling sorry for herself. The last person she expected to come to her rescue was Owen Shields.

He was tattooed, broody, and her ex-fiancé’s best friend. The arrogant jerk who was supposed to be the best man at her wedding was never supposed to be her knight in shining armor.

Falling for Owen was never part of the plan, but when the gorgeous town vet throws everything he has her way, including his adorable dog and angelic niece, Asher is in for the fight of her life.

•••••••

REVIEW:  My expectations of fictional men are wholly based on Jessica Prince and her characters. Stunner is the third book in the Whiskey Dolls series and can be read in either series order or as a standalone.

This book is freaking stupendous! Asher and Owen is a story that all readers will want to consume, and not just because of the spicy bits (though there are plenty). When Asher is at an all time low thanks to her non wedding, who comes to her rescue? That’s right, the hot, tatted vet who also happens to be her ex’s best friend and the best man at said wedding. There’s irony in that for sure. -Giggle-

Reading Asher and Owen’s story and how one moment Asher thinks Owen hates her, to the next when he clearly cares for her was so thrilling. There is of course a little drama on both sides, but as any good romance, they make their way through it. It has it all, grumpy giants, tatted vets, swoon worthy romance moments, and so much spice. Always though, the characters are what make the book the most worth it. Way to go JP for another lovely book!

“Hi,” he said, low and gravelly.

I turned on him, making sure to narrow my eyes into slits, determined to gain my anger back after meeting the lovely Hazel, because I’d be damned if I let him get away with the silent treatment he’d been subjecting me to.

It wasn’t easy, especially not with the contrition swimming in those green eyes, but I held firm. “‘Hi’? Seriously? You’ve been ghosting me for three days and that’s how you’re going to start?”

He stepped in closer, his delicious smell making my head all fuzzy. “You look beautiful.”

Oh, he was good. Damn it! Stay strong, Asher! I silently scolded. I blew past the compliment like I hadn’t heard it, even while flutters erupted in my chest.

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

I shouldn’t be attracted to him…

JJ Kane. Billionaire CEO. Ruthless villain. Supposed boss of the underworld.
The first time I set eyes on him I hated him with a visceral intensity that took me by surprise.
Considering he gave me a roof over my head when I had nowhere else to go, I should be grateful.
Instead, I can’t seem to stop baiting him.
He’s also my boyfriend’s father. Twenty-six years older than me.
And strictly off limits.
He goes out of his way to avoid me, treats me like I don’t exist… also gives me a job in his office, and protects me from my boyfriend’s anger.
Now he’s also my boss, so I definitely can’t afford to antagonize him.
Yet we can’t seem to stop fighting every time we meet.
That is until he kisses me…

REVIEW:MAFIA LUST is the ninth instalment in L. Steele’s contemporary, adult ARRANGED MARRIAGE erotic, romance series, a series interconnected with the author’s Bad Boy Billionaires. This is forty-nine year old, billionaire owner of the Kane organized crime syndicate Jack ‘JJ’ Kane, and twenty-three year old, executive assistant Lena Richards’ story line. MAFIA LUST can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order including the Bad Boy Billionaires series as the premise makes several references to, and many of the aforementioned Bad Boy Billionaires’ characters play second and supporting roles.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers including spanking, bondage and MFM sexual situations.

Told from three first person perspectives (JJ, Lena, Isaac) MAFIA LUST follows the age-gap , forbidden romance between forty-nine year old, billionaire owner of Kane Company and head of the organized crime syndicate Jack ‘JJ’ Kane, and twenty-three year old, executive assistant Lena Richards. Twenty-three year old, Lena Richards and her boyfriend Isaac Kane are currently homeless, without employment, and are about to move in with Isaac’s billionaire father JJ, but Isaac and JJ have a dysfunctional relationship, a relationship that is about to push our story line heroine between father and son. When Isaac refuses to work for his father’s corporation, JJ offers the executive assistant position to Lena Richards, a position that places Lena up close and personal with her boyfriend’s father. Disappearing for days and hours at a time, Isaac, working for his father as a corporate photographer, begins work on a series of pictures, once again, pushing our heroine towards the man with whom she will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Lena and JJ, as Lena’s relationship with Isaac begins to implode.

Meanwhile, JJ Kane is working with the group known as 7A Investments (Bad Boy Billionaires) in an effort to open an exclusive club for men, work that will open up a new line of friendship for Lena, with the wives and significant others of his billionaire partners.

The relationship between Lena and JJ is a forbidden, age-gap romance in which our heroine battles between head and heart knowing her attraction to JJ is a betrayal to Isaac but Isaac and Lena’s relationship is tepid at best, and in an effort to remain in Lena’s life, Isaac agrees to a night he will never forget. The $ex scenes are erotic, passionate and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including most of the couples and billionaires from the Bad Boy Billionaires series, as well as the current Arranged Marriage series.

MAFIA LUST is a story of passion and obsession, dysfunctional family dynamics, acceptance, forgiveness and love. The premise is entertaining; the romance is provocative-there is some slight ‘daddy kink’; the characters are charismatic yet often immature -Lena and Isaac’s attitudes were childish and stubborn.

“Okay, Daddy,” I murmur. There it is. I said it aloud. There’s no going back now. But damn if I care anymore.
His nostrils flare. His dark gaze grows intense. He lowers to his knees and glares into my features. “What did you say?”
“You heard me.” I toss my hair over my shoulder. “You’re the one making moves on your son’s girlfriend, I hope your conscience can cope with that.”
“You’re the one who can’t look at me without blushing, who shuffles her feet and can’t stop twitching her butt whenever she’s in my vicinity.”
“Hey, don’t blame your stalker tendencies on me.”
He stiffens, then draws himself up to his full height. “Are you implying I’m watching you?”
“Aren’t you?”
“I haven’t seen you in three days.”
“The very fact that you went out of your way to avoid me is another sign that you feel an affinity for me.”
“I’m not sure I’d call it an affinity; more like an itch I need to scratch.”
I gape at him. “Seriously? Did you just say that to my face?”
“Best to be up-front about what this is. Explosive chemistry. Nevertheless, it’s only a physical attraction. If we fuck it out of our systems, we can both move on.”
“A-n-d, I can’t believe you’d stoop low enough to proposition your son’s girlfriend.”
“At least I am being up-front about what I want. I’m not the one lying to myself and those around me.”
“I’m not going to stay here and listen to you insult me. I—”
I begin to rise to my feet, but he firms his lips. “Sit down, Lena.”

The Witch and the Tsar by Olesya Salnikova Gilmore – a Review

The Witch and the Tsar by Olesya Salnikova Gilmore – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
As a half-goddess possessing magic, Yaga is used to living on her own, her prior entanglements with mortals having led to heartbreak. She mostly keeps to her hut in the woods, where those in need of healing seek her out, even as they spread rumors about her supposed cruelty and wicked spells. But when her old friend Anastasia—now the wife of the tsar, and suffering from a mysterious illness—arrives in her forest desperate for her protection, Yaga realizes the fate of all of Russia is tied to Anastasia’s. Yaga must step out of the shadows to protect the land she loves.

As she travels to Moscow, Yaga witnesses a sixteenth century Russia on the brink of chaos. Tsar Ivan—soon to become Ivan the Terrible—grows more volatile and tyrannical by the day, and Yaga believes the tsaritsa is being poisoned by an unknown enemy. But what Yaga cannot know is that Ivan is being manipulated by powers far older and more fearsome than anyone can imagine.

Olesya Salnikova Gilmore weaves a rich tapestry of mythology and Russian history, reclaiming and reinventing the infamous Baba Yaga, and bringing to life a vibrant and tumultuous Russia, where old gods and new tyrants vie for power. This fierce and compelling novel draws from the timeless lore to create a heroine for the modern day, fighting to save her country and those she loves from oppression while also finding her true purpose as a goddess, a witch, and a woman.

Review:

The Witch and the Tsar by Olesya Salnikova Gilmore is a fantasy storyline. This is set in 16th century Russia, with the legendary Yaga (not the evil witch Baba Yaga), who is a half-goddess and half-mortal, and the main character throughout the story.  We meet Yaga, as she lives in the forest, and helps heal others with spells and potions; she is immortal, having lived hundreds of years, and always remaining young and beautiful.  Many years ago, she was friends with Anastasia, until she left Russia, due to how mortals perceived her as evil and cruel. Yaga is content to live in her solitude (only those in dire need of her help as a healer), with her wonderful faithful animal companions, Noch (her owl), Dyen (her wolf) and Little Hen (izbushka).

Many years later, Yaga is surprised to see her old friend, Anastasia come visit her in the forest; she is now the wife of the Tsar Ivan; and desperately hoping for Yaga to treat her mysterious illness.  She learns quickly that Anastasia has been poisoned, and Yaga will treat her. But who is poisoning her?   When a recuperated Anastasia leaves to go back to Russia, she begs Yaga to help find out who is doing this to her.  In a short time, Yaga will decide to go back to Russia and help watch over Anastasia. When she arrives in Moscow, she spends time with both Anastasia and Ivan, and begins to see the country border lining in chaos; especially with Ivan manipulated by others.

Over a couple of decades, Yaga will align with others to stop Tsar Ivan, who has become known as Ivan the Terrible, using his army to kill every one he considers traitors or enemies.  Destruction and chaos is all over Russia, destroying everything they held dear.

What follows is an amazing, gripping story, with Yaga in the forefront, as she meets wonderful people who care about their country, and will do anything to fight and protect each other. There is a lot of action throughout, and to say too much more would ruin it for you. You really need to read this book. There is a surprising and sweet romance, which Yaga never thought she could ever have.  I absolutely loved how her animals, Dyen and Noch were always there for her.

The Witch and the Tsar is mesmerizing story of Russian history and mythology; as well as reinventing Baba Yaga, who was a fabulous heroine, always fighting to save her country. This is a powerful story, filled with folklore, heartbreak, captivating, and an amazing story from start to finish.  THE WITCH AND THE TSAR was a wonderful story, so very well written by Olesya Salnikova Gilmore. If you enjoy history, folklore, with a bit of romance, I suggest you read this book.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 27 2022

Coen Highsmith was a league star, but he lost more than his team the day the Pittsburgh Titans’ plane crashed. Can he be saved from his downward spiral of guilt and regret to become the man he once was?

I had it all—a successful hockey career, the respect and adoration of the fans, a rotation of beautiful women warming my bed, and a feeling of self-worth and contentment with the direction of my life. But that all changed the day the team plane went down, taking my only chance of redemption with it. Now I’m left with the daily reminder of all my failures and my inability to correct them.

My new teammates are tired of my attitude and following my suspension, I hole up in a mountain cabin to get away from all of it. The isolation is exactly what I need to get out of my own head, and I’m beginning to think I could be content in this quiet forever.

Tillie Marshall isn’t the type of woman who would usually catch my attention, yet she manages to do so for all the wrong reasons. I’m here for the peace and seclusion but the quirky artist is hell-bent on destroying that by cutting down the trees that separate our properties so she can open a pottery studio. If it’s a fight she wants, it’s a fight she’ll get. I have the money and the time and no issues bringing her down through the court system. While I see flashes of steely determination within her, I’ve found that being a jerk comes naturally these days and she won’t be hard to intimidate.

Unfortunately, that gorgeous and somewhat odd neighbor who has been causing me grief is creating another type of feeling within me. And once that spark is lit, Tillie displays a faith in me that for the first time since the crash I desperately want to believe. Now it’s time for me to step up and become the man—no, a better man than I once was.

REVIEW: COEN is the fourth instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult PITTSBURGH TITANS, erotic, hockey romance series focusing on the NHL’s fictional Pittsburgh Titans. This is star player Coen Highsmith, and artist Tillie Marshall. COEN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story.

SOME BACKGROUND: Several weeks earlier, a devastating plane crashed claimed the lives of the entire Pittsburgh Titans hockey team including coaches and staff. Rebuilding the team, owner Brienne Norcross, offered positions to one-time professional and semi-pro players, including our story line hero.

Told from dual first-person perspectives (Coen and Tillie) COEN follows in the wake of hockey star Coen Highsmith’s suspension from the NHL. Since the plane crash that killed his former team, Coen has struggled with survivors remorse and personal guilt, a struggle that was about to spiral his professional career. Taking his anger out on fellow players and officials, Coen finds himself sidelined as the team is about to head into the Stanley Cup playoffs. Determined to quit hockey, Coen buys a cabin in the woods, preferring to become a recluse, all by himself but Coen never expected to come face to face with his closest neighbor, a woman who wants to change the landscape to further her art. Enter Tilden ‘Tillie’ Marshall, and the woman with whom Coen will fall in love. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship between Tillie and Coen, and the potential fall-out as Coen must come to terms with the loss of his friends, and the remorse that often threatens to overwhelm.

Tillie Marshall knows loss first-hand but has battled all of her life to fit in and belong. Bullied since childhood, Tillie empathizes with her new neighbor, a man who is currently struggling to fit in where he doesn’t feel he belongs. Coen Highsmith wants to be left alone but his new neighbor is determined to take down the trees between their mutual cabins. Threatening a lawsuit , Coen must battle between head and heart when he begins to fall for his new found enemy.

The relationship between Coen and Tillie begins acrimoniously when Coen discovers Tillie has plans to remove several trees. In an effort to stop Tillie from changing the landscape Coen hires a lawyer to stop the woman with whom he is falling in love. Love is about to change our story line hero, love that breaks through the grief and sadness of a man who is unable to forgive himself. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including most of the previous story line couples and characters, as well as Tillie’s closest friends, and the requisite small town bullies and gossips.

COEN is a story of loss, grief, guilt and sorrow, forgiveness and moving forward. The premise is captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are battered but starting to thrive.

Her kidnapper is none other than the head of a powerful Sicilian crime family, the incredibly handsome, young Don Massimo Torricelli, who is determined to possess her at all costs. Massimo has his reasons. During an earlier attempt on his life, a vision appeared before his eyes: a beautiful woman, identical to Laura. After surviving the attack, he vows that he will find the woman in his vision and make her his own. No matter what.

For 365 days, Massimo will keep Laura captive in his palatial estate and attempt to win her heart. If she doesn’t fall in love with him during this time, he will let her go. But if she tries to escape at any point, he will track her down and kill her entire family.

Soon Laura develops a fascination with her handsome and powerful captor. But as a precarious, risky relationship forms between them, forces outside their control threaten to tear them apart.

REVIEW: 365 DAYS by Blanka Lipinska is the first instalment in the contemporary, adult 365 DAYS erotic, dark romance series focusing on twenty-nine year old, Polish born Laura Biel, and thirty-two year old, Sicilian Don Massimo Torricelli.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

NOTE: 365 DAYS is the re-release of Blanka Lipinska’s best selling novel, and turned into a Netflix movie in 2020.

Told from first person perspective (Laura) 365 DAYS follows in the wake of Sicilian Don Massimo Torricelli’s ongoing visions and dreams (during and following weeks in a coma) about a woman he has never met but a woman he is determined to own. A chance meeting at the airport finds Massimo obsessed over our heroine Laura Biel, a woman already in a committed relationship with a man she doesn’t love. Kidnapped and held as a virtual prisoner in a gilded cage, Laura comes to learn she is Massimo’s captive for the next 365 days, wherein she will either fall in love or walk away at the end of the year. With several threats looming over her head, her family, and those of her friends, Laura reluctantly agrees to Massimo’s terms, terms that find our heroine falling for a man who will control every aspect of her life. What ensues is the tempestuous and contentious relationship between Massimo and Laura, and the potential fall-out as Massimo’s enemies have targeted our couple, and in this, Massimo is unwilling to place Laura in the direct line of fire.

The relationship between Massimo and Laura begins acrimoniously when Massimo kidnaps Laura to claim as his own. Unable to leave without the possibility of losing everybody she loves, Laura agrees to 365 days but refuses to make life any easier for the man with whom she will fall in love. The $ex scenes are erotic, intense, and aggressive, and not without some questions of dubious consent.

We are introduced to an ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Laura’s new assistant Dominic, and her best friend Olga; Laura’s parents, her ex-boyfriend Martin, dance instructor Petrov, as well as several members of Massimo’s security and staff.

365 DAYS is an erotic tale of obsession and lust, power and control. The questionable behavior of both characters borders on disturbing and abnormal-our heroine’s behavior is often immature, up and down, back and forth but under the circumstances, she is otherwise a prisoner of man she knows very little about. Massimo’s temper and darkness is exacerbated by our heroine’s conduct and attitude, conduct she purposely employs to anger our story line hero. The premise is entertaining and interesting; the romance is erotic and dramatic; the characters are animated. 365 DAYS ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

On a side note, the book was originally written in Polish, and therefore there are some issues of grammar etc with the translation.

REVIEW: THIS DAY is the second instalment in the contemporary, adult 365 DAYS erotic, dark romance series by Blanka Lipinska focusing on twenty-nine year old, Polish born Laura Biel, and thirty-two year old, Sicilian Don Massimo Torricelli. THIS DAY should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of book one 365 DAYS.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

SOME BACKGROUND: Several months earlier Laura Biel was kidnapped and held as a virtual prisoner in a gilded cage, learning he was to become Sicilian Don Massimo Torricelli’s captive for the next 365 days, 365 days wherein she will either fall in love or walk away at the end of the year. With several threats looming over her head, her family, and those of her friends, Laura reluctantly agrees to Massimo’s terms, terms that find our heroine falling for a man who will control every aspect of her life.

Told from first person perspective (Laura) with a final few paragraphs from Massimo, THIS DAY continues to follow the building relationship between Laura Biel, and Sicilian Don Massimo Torricelli. Massimo Torricelli is a powerful man in the criminal underworld, a Mafia Don who is often at odds with the woman with whom he is falling in love but the threats against Laura no longer come from Massimo himself, but from enemies and other power hungry men at the top. As Massimo’s brother Domenico falls for Laura’s best friend Olga, several other players enter the game, a game in which someone is going to lose. Ever the protector, with a need to control, Massimo will eventually meet his match when he is unable to protect the woman he loves.

The relationship between Laura and Massimo is erotically charged; highly sexual in nature wherein Massimo demands total submission from the woman he loves. Over protective to the point of obsession, Massimo never expected to fall hard, a fall that will place Laura in danger from Massimo’s competition and underworld powers. The $ex scenes are provocative, dominating and intense.

We are reintroduced to Massimo’s brothers Domenico and Adriano; Laura’s best friend Olga, as well as several Spanish Mafia executioner Marcelo ‘Nacho’ Matos, and his sister Amelia Matos; security specialists, MMA fighters, exes, and staff. The requisite evil has many faces.

THIS DAY is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, obsession and envy, friends and family, love and acceptance. The premise is captivating and riveting; the romance is aggressive and impassioned; the characters are determined, charismatic and desperate-there is a true Stockholm Syndrome relationship between captor and captive. THIS DAY ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

My only complaint is the choppy-nature of the presentation, often jumping from one scene/location/situation between paragraphs.

REVIEW: THE NEXT 365 DAYS is the third and final instalment in Blanka Lipinska’s contemporary, adult 365 DAYS dark, erotic, romance series focusing on Laura Biel-Torricelli, the wife of Sicilian Mafia Don Massimo Torricelli. THE NEXT 365 DAYS should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the cliff hanger and events of book two THIS DAY.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise including rape and sexual violence, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

SOME BACKGROUND: Several months earlier Laura Biel was kidnapped and held as a virtual prisoner in a gilded cage, learning she was to become Sicilian Don Massimo Torricelli’s captive for the next 365 days, 365 days wherein she will either fall in love or walk away at the end of the year. With several threats looming over her head, her family, and those of her friends, Laura reluctantly agrees to Massimo’s terms, terms that find our heroine falling for a man who will control every aspect of her life.

Told from first person perspective (Laura) THE NEXT 365 DAYS follows in the wake of profound loss for our story line couple. Unable to cope, Don Massimo Torricelli becomes a man his wife no longer recognizes, a man whose violence and power are growing every day. Weeks to months will pass wherein Laura has no concept of her husband’s whereabouts, time in which she reconsiders her life going forward. Getting reacquainted with a man from her past, Laura must come to terms with the failure of her marriage, and the man with whom she had fallen in love. What ensues is the break down of Laura’s marriage to her controlling captor, and the rebuilding of her life with someone else.

We are reintroduced to Massimo’s brothers Domenico; Laura’s best friend Olga, as well as Spanish Mafia executioner Marcelo ‘Nacho’ Matos, and his sister Amelia Matos. The requisite evil is a familiar face.

The world building continues to focus on the nature of the Stockholm Syndrome style relationship with an abusive man-Laura’s life, the path she has chosen, and the path that is no longer under her control. Laura’s marriage has imploded; the man she thought she had loved is showing the true nature of the beast; and Massimo is pushed to the limits when his wife falls in love with someone else. Like the previous two instalments there is plenty of jumping back and forth between paragraphs such that I had to often re-read what I had just read. I also have to question the ‘medical’ procedure, the after-care, and lack of real-world medicines and treatment-the lack of believability is concerning..

THE NEXT 365 DAYS is another story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, obsession and determination; acceptance and loss; family, friendships, relationships and love. Massimo Torricelli is a man out of control-he wields his power as a form dominance and discipline, a dominance manifested by rage and abuse. Laura Biel-Torricelli is a woman pushing the envelope of security and freedom but a woman who must forge a new path towards freedom, a freedom gained at a cost. Laura’s immaturity is prevalent; her indecisiveness is often frustrating.

THE NEXT 365 DAYS is not a story of romance or love between Massimo and Laura, but a story of obsession, control, recovery and acceptance. Laura will find true love with someone else, pushing Massimo to try and break the bird he was desperate to cage. The premise’s primary focuses in on Laura’s fight for her freedom, and her building relationship with another man-saying that, the blurb is misleading to the point that some of the issues alluded to did not exist ; the characters actions are questionable on so many levels including Laura’s back and forth, up and down persona, often exacerbated by her best friend’s marriage into the Torricelli family, as well as the uncivilized and unconscionable actions of the Sicilian Don.

The girl I met when we were nine is now the woman who said “yes” to being my wife.

But Josie’s not planning our wedding; she’s too consumed by things that happened over a century ago.

She has terrible dreams and unrelenting visions of the unspeakable. I believe her, but I don’t understand her.

If I can’t understand her, I can’t stop her.

If I can’t stop her, I can’t save us.

And without us … well, I can’t imagine that world.

REVIEW:  MEMORIES OF A LIFE is the fourth instalment in Jewel E Ann’s contemporary, adult LIFE series, and the second book in Colten and Josie’s preternatural romance duet. This is thirty-five year olds, Detective Colten Mosley, and forensic pathologist Josie Watts second chance romance story line. MEMORIES OF A LIFE cannot be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of book one PIECES OF A LIFE.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise including attempted suicide, and descriptions of murder and death, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

NOTE: If you have not read book one, there may be spoilers in my review.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Josie and Colten) using present day and memories from the past MEMORIES OF A LIFE picks up immediately after the events of book one in which our heroine, Josie Watts begins to have flashbacks and memories of someone else’s life. As Josie and Colten prepare for their upcoming nuptials, Josie’s thoughts and questionable memories begin to consume her life, a life that is now spiralling out of control. Unable to control the images, the memories and her need to act, Josie sets into motion a plan that is about to destroy everyone she has ever loved including our story line hero. What ensues is the fracturing and heart breaking relationship between Colten and Josie, and the fall-out as Josie makes a dangerous and life altering attempt to get rid of the thoughts and images consuming her mind.

MEMORIES OF A LIFE is a preternatural story of ‘reincarnation’; of memories of another life; of murder and mayhem, of suicide and survival. Jewel E Ann pulls the reader into a dramatic, intense and pulse-pounding story of love, of desperation, of life and second chances.
