ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 12, 2022.

We met in darkness.

Fate brought us back together, and almost as quickly ripped us apart.
The world we lived in thrived on greed and deception.

Two dark souls converged and aligned in an eruption of vengeance and hatred.

Death almost ended us, and now nothing could break us. Or so we thought. What will happen when at every turn, our world was trying to tear us apart?

•••••••••

REVIEW:  KING’S VOW is the first instalment is Ella Kade’s (aka Harlow Layne) contemporary, adult GUERRERA SYNDICATE erotic, romance, Mafia, drug cartel series. This is thirty year old, Arely Guerrera, head of the Guerrera Syndicate , and twenty year old college sophomore turned body guard Sebastian ‘Bash’ King’s story line.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Arely and Bash) KING’S VOW follows the building relationship between thirty year old, Arely Guerrera, head of the Guerrera Syndicate , and twenty year old college sophomore turned body guard Sebastian ‘Bash’ King. Bash thought to rob a random stranger but had no idea he would be facing down the head of the Guerrera Syndicate. Jumping in to save a fellow student, Bash would use his skills as a thief, only this time to face Guerrera twins Ale and Army, who offer him a position with the Guerrera mob. A trial period finds Bash coming full circle, once again facing the woman he had attempted to rob, the woman with whom Bash would fall in love. Enter Arely Guerrera. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Bash and Arely, and the potential fall-out as someone is targeting our story line heroine, taking aim at everyone she loves.

The Guerrera Syndicate controls the local drug trade but someone has altered the supply, and Arely is determined to uncover the truth. A trip to Columbia finds Arely and her family running for their lives, as Bash places himself in the direct line of fire to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love. As Bash and Arely’s relationship turns serious, Arely is unable to trust her own family as Bash fights for his life following another attack.

The relationship between Bash and Arely begins as a wild back-alley encounter where our heroine takes charge with our story line hero. Arely’s brothers struggle with her relationship with a man ten years her junior, a man they know very little about. Bash knows Arely is the only woman to own his heart but the family continue to test our story line hero. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense but the opening encounter is questionable on many levels.

We are introduced to Arely’s brothers- twins Ale and Army, Santiago and Pablo, as well as Arely’s best friend Bree. I am not too sure about the true nature of the siblings’ relationships, as everyone is suspect in the attacks against our story line heroine, and Ale and Army remind me of loveable puppies. There is something developing between Santi and Bree.

KING’S VOW is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is engaging and interesting; the characters were energetic but we know very little about the who, how and why; the age-gap romance is erotic but I struggle to feel any palpable attraction.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 8, 2022

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…absolutely nothing. Because he had no idea that he was my true love. What a jerk.

Noelle Lennon has been in love with Brady Breckridge for as long as she can remember. A sad, unrequited love that causes her nothing but trouble as she pines over her brother’s best friend. Now the gorgeous, muscled, secretive special ops bane of her existence is back in town, back in her life…and because a few dangerous incidents may have happened recently, Brady is suddenly declaring himself her personal protector. So unnecessary. Also…so strangely hot.

On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me…too much temptation to handle.

Brady thinks Noelle is in danger, so he vows to stand between her and any threat. Full disclosure? He’s been obsessed with Noelle for years and learning that she’s in danger, that she could have been hurt or killed while he was a continent away…that truth has rocked him to his core. Brady knows he has to fight for the woman he wants, and what better way to win her over than to use the magic of Christmas in his battle? Christmas has always been Noelle’s weakness, and he is not above using that weakness to his advantage.

On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…a final chance at love.

Brady will keep her safe, and he’ll charm Noelle into falling for him. His plan has to work because Brady can’t imagine his life without her. But as the nights grow colder and the fierce desire Brady feels for Noelle rages ever hotter, he knows that his control won’t last long. He wants one thing for Christmas this year…just one thing…his true love. And he will do whatever it takes to win Noelle’s heart.

REVIEW: KISS ME THIS CHRISTMAS by Cynthia Eden is a stand alone, contemporary, adult, romantic, suspense, erotic holiday novella loosely connected to the author’s WILDE WAYS series. This is US Special Ops soldier Brady Breckridge, and real estate agent Noelle Lennon’s story line.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Brady and Noelle) KISS ME THIS CHRISTMAS follows the best friend’s sister relationship between US Special Ops soldier Brady Breckridge, and real estate agent Noelle Lennon. Brady Breckridge is home for the holidays but found himself the personal protection of the woman he loved. Noelle Lennon is Brady’s best friend’s sister, off limits as far as he was concerned, but when threats against Noelle become dangerous and personal, Brady becomes guardian and protector of our story line heroine. A Christmas party ends in disaster, and Brady is determined to remove Noelle from any more danger but the danger seems to follow wherever they go. What ensues is the quick building romance and relationship between Brady and Noelle, and the potential fall-out as madness, greed and obsession target our story line heroine.

Having made the decision not to re-enlist, Brady has set his sights on making Noelle his wife. Noelle Lennon fell in love with Brady years before but humiliation at a young age pulled Noelle out of his life. Years spent in the service, away from Noelle, gave Brady time to reconsider all that he wanted, and all that he lost. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Noelle’s brother Elliott Lennon, as well as fellow real estate agents Rowen Welch and Addison Lane.

KISS ME THIS CHRISTMAS is a quick read; a fast paced, holiday novella of suspense and intrigue. The premise is entertaining; the romance is seductive; the characters are determined and dynamic.

Pets of Park Avenue by Stefanie London – a Review

Pets of Park Avenue by Stefanie London – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
“One of the year’s most delightful rom-coms.”—New York Times bestselling author Julia London on The Dachshund Wears Prada

The perfect romcom for dog lovers! Pets of Park Avenue is the story of a self-confessed hot mess who learns that life is more fun when things don’t go according to plan.

What do you do when The One is also the one who broke your heart?

Self-proclaimed hot mess Scout Myers is determined to prove she’s finally got her act together. Raised by grandparents who saw her as her wayward mother’s wayward daughter, Scout’s used to being written off. So when the opportunity for a promotion arises at Paws in the City, the talent agency where she works, Scout is desperate to rise to the occasion. With shared custody of her little sister also on the line, Scout can’t afford a single mistake…like suddenly needing a canine stand-in for an important photoshoot. Luckily (or not) she knows the owner of the perfect pup replacement: the estranged husband she walked out on years ago.

On the surface, it appears Lane Halliday’s life has been blissfully drama free without Scout, but she suspects her handsome-as-ever not-quite-ex-husband doth protest too much. Working together even feels like old times—except for all that lingering, unresolved tension. But Scout’s not sure she’s ready to confront the reasons she left Lane, and when their plans to finalize the divorce become very real, Scout starts to wonder whether second chances might be worth a little hot mess.

Paws in the City Series:
Book 1 – The Dachshund Wears Prada
Book 2 – Pets of Park Avenue

Review:

Pets of Park Avenue by Stefanie London is the second book in her Paws in the City series. Scout needs to bag the big promotion, her reputation and her baby sister are relying are on her. She wants, no needs to prove to herself and everyone that she’s not a waste of space. She doesn’t want the same label her mother had….. She needs to do something and fast…..

Lane wants nothing to do with his estranged wife! She walked out and took her dramas with her. But his feelings never did really die out for his wife, can he really want to be drawn back into a life with drama, but also fun?  How she approaches Lane, will have you chuckling. She needs a doggy stand-in and she knows who has a look a like, but getting his approval is going to prove difficult!

We find out that after a whirlwind romance and a quick wedding in Vegas, things quickly deteriorate and Scout walked away never looking back. But neither started divorce proceedings, so you have to wonder if they hoped to reunite some day?

If you’ve read book one in the series, you would have already met Scout, but don’t worry if you didn’t, the book is a standalone story, (but after reading this book, you’ll probably go back to read the first one ?)

So how will she get him to agree to work together, when he really doesn’t want all that drama back in his life? Can she show him she’s changed? The more time they spend together, the more they remember the good times, the fun times. But with the divorce finally within reach, can Lane walk away?

It’s not necessary to read book one before reading this one. But there are a few characters from the previous book that make an appearance. It will have you smiling and crying throughout the book, the author knows how to bring out the best in a rom-com. I did love the four legged star Twinkle, she’s such a cute dog, and her antics had me shaking my head. ?

I highly recommend this book if you love second chance romance.

The Midnight Realm by Sawyer Bennett-review tour

THE MIDNIGHT REALM (Chronicles of the Stone Veil 7) by Sawyer Bennett-review tour

Amazon | Amazon. ca | Nook | Apple | Kobo | Google | Print

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 6, 2022

Even kings who serve at the whim of gods break the rules every now and then.

As the newly anointed king of the Underworld, I’ve worked hard to clean up the mess left behind by my predecessor. The realm is in relative peace at the moment, my main focus now on deciding the fate of recently departed souls. It’s a tediously boring task, and honestly, one I despise doing. But just when I think I can’t stand another moment of the monotony, one soul changes it all.

Nyssa McKnight earned her ticket to Hell. She made her choices and even at the prospect of eternal damnation, she doesn’t seem to regret the actions that led her here. I can tell by her utter defiance that life has hardened her, a trait that has carried over to her in death. She should be begging me for mercy but instead calls me a “big old winged bat”. I should toss her right into The Crimson River for her insolence but instead I think I’ll keep her in servitude.

While I struggle to reconcile the intrigue—and attraction—I have for this human, I am forced to spend my days investigating rumors of an uprising in the Underworld. Unfortunately, my desire to keep Nyssa has provided a weak spot for the rebellious Dark Fae looking to gain control, one they’re quick to act on. Now, with Nyssa in danger and my throne threatened, I will stop at nothing to restore order, even if it means letting her go.

Can Amell, the king of the Underworld, find true love, or is he destined to rule alone until the end of days?

••••••

REVIEW: THE MIDNIGHT REALM is the seventh instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s adult CHRONICLES OF THE STONE VEIL paranormal/fantasy/mythology series. This is Amell, King of the Underworld, and twenty-six year old human bartender Nyssa McKnight’s story line. THE MIDNIGHT REALM can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous storylines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Amell and Nyssa) THE MIDNIGHT REALM focuses on the acclimation and survival of Nyssa McKnight in H*ll. Having lived a life of demons and darkness, Nyssa takes a life, before ending her own. Waiting for her judgment, Nyssa is defiant until the end, an end that never comes when she finds herself saved by the King of the Underworld, the man with whom Nyssa will fall in love. Amell doesn’t know why he saved Nyssa from the Crimson River but Amell knew that Nyssa was about to upend his world in more ways than mattered. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Nyssa and Amell, and the fall-out as Nyssa is targeted for who she is, she was, and who she will never be.

Amell’s punishment for interfering in the laws of the gods is to spend eternity serving judgement from his throne in H*ll but Amell never expected to meet his future in the guise of human Nyssa McKnight, a woman with more spunk and fire than anyone he has ever met. Amell’s control of H*ll is about to be tested when the Dark Fae take aim at the woman with whom he is falling in love.

The relationship between Amell and Nyssa begins as prisoner and jailer. Nyssa has no idea why she was saved from the Crimson River of fire but going from the proverbial fire back into the frying pan means serving a man who is about to control her life. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including many we have met in previous story lines: Amell’s daughter Thalia (The Shadow Princess 6), god of life/death Zora, demigod Maddox; Dark Fae Truett, and his sister Sorcha, as well as several other Light and Dark Fae. The requisite evil has many faces.

THE MIDNIGHT REALM is another detailed and complex addition to Sawyer’s CHRONICLES OF THE STONE VEIL series, a series wrapped in mythology, angels and demons, Fae, daemons and demons, gods and goddess, power and control, betrayal and vengeance, jealousy and death. The fast paced premise is intriguing, intricate and captivating; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are powerful , energetic, charismatic and determined.

Description:
Kate Jenkins doesn’t believe in fate. She believes in a clear vision, meticulous planning, and hard work in order to achieve her culinary dreams. On the cusp of opening her own Parisian restaurant, Bistro Exotique, she isn’t even concerned when her standoffish–and annoyingly sexy–neighbor dismisses her as a crazy American tourist or when she meets the wildly eccentric Garrance, the self-proclaimed Spice Master of Paris, who ominously warns her of the previous owner’s failures.

Confident and optimistic, Kate keeps calm and cooks on. Until a series of unfortunate events derail her plans and her entire staff quits.

Kate is about to throw in the kitchen towel on her lifelong dream when Garrance offers to use her mastery of scents and spices to help her, but it comes at a price: Kate must work with Garrance’s son, Charles, a world-class chef and total jerk. After Kate hesitantly concedes to the deal, she slowly learns to open her heart and mind to new concepts, not quite sure if the magic she’s experiencing comes from Garrance’s spices, from within herself, or from the growing chemistry with Charles. One thing is certain, though: her kitchen is getting increasingly hot.

Review:

The Spice Master at Bistro Exotique by Samantha Verant is a sweet fun standalone novel.  Kate Jenkins, our heroine, finds herself in a quarry, with the opening of her new Paris restaurant, Bistro Exotique; as everything that could go wrong, does go wrong; with things unsettled, almost all of her staff quits.  Help comes from her wealthly and friendly landlady, Garrance, who claims to be the Spice Master of Paris, using her wonderful scents/spices, and offers her a deal, that she can’t refuse.  Kate must work with Garrance’s son, Charles, a world-class chef, who both recently got off on the wrong foot

The two are forced to work together, especially with the restaurant opening pushed up two weeks, to make the changes, use the special spices into the meals, and to hire people.  In a short period, both Charles (who used to be a former Michelin starred chef) and Kate begin to work well together, as they are determined to make the opening a grand success.  Kate opens her mind to new senses, as she begins to experience the power of Garrance’s spices that are amazing.  She also finds herself falling for Charles, as their chemistry was becoming sizzling.  When the restaurant opens to raves, with the unique scents driving everyone to a touch of magical senses.

What follows is a charming story, set in Paris, with a couple that were meant for each other, two mothers pushing them, great secondary characters, magic, and romance.  Kate knows that Charles has many admirers, including women who try to get his attention; she learns to accept his love, and her feelings for him.

The Spice Master at Bistro Exotique was a wonderful sweet love story, with a fantastic setting in Paris, and amazing food senses we get to learn about throughout.  Kate and Charles were a terrific couple, even with their bad start.  I really enjoyed watching them slowly fall in love.  I loved everything about the restaurant, the food and spices, and the great secondary characters.  The Spice Master at Bistro Exotique was very well written by Samantha Verant.
