REVIEW: DANGEROUS DREAMS is the first instalment in Abbie Roads’ contemporary, adult BEAUTIFUL NIGHTMARE paranormal, erotic, romantic thriller series-formerly the FATAL DREAMS series. This is special skills consultant for the Ohio BCI (Bureau of Criminal Investigations) Alexander ‘Xander’ Stone, and twenty-five year old Isleen Walker’s story line. DANGEROUS DREAMS is a re-release of the author’s RACE THE DARKNESS (Fatal Dreams Series 1)- new title, new series title, new covers.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise including graphic violence, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from third person perspective DANGEROUS DREAMS follows in the wake of the discovery of twenty-five year old Isleen Walker and her grandmother Gale, Gale who has been missing for over twenty five years. Xander Stone is an investigator for the Ohio BCI, with supersensitive hearing, and the ability to hear thoughts since he was struck by lightning at an earlier age but Xander struggles with the echoes of a woman’s voice, crying for help, a woman who is closer than he could have ever imagined. Isleen Walker and her grandmother Gale have been imprisoned by a monster for close to eight years, a monster who is slowly starving and bleeding Isleen and her grandmother to death. Isleen and her grandmother have ‘supernatural dreams’ wherein they are witness to what is happening or what may happen in the future, and for this Isleen is being punished by an unknown source. Her rescue by Xander, and her subsequent dreams continue to reveal the death of others, lives she struggles to save in the wake of the monster lurking behind the scenes. As our couple begin to build upon their mutual attraction, secrets reveal a past connection, as Xander and Isleen are targeted by the man in charge. What ensues is the search and rescue of Isleen and Gale; the building romance and relationship between Xander and Isleen; and the fall-out as the monster returns to finish the job he started years before.

The relationship between Isleen and Xander begins as a rescue. Isleen has been ‘dreaming’ about Xander, and Xander knows that if the woman in his mind isn’t found soon, she will not last through her terrible nightmare. Xander is immediately drawn to Isleen as she soothes the pain in his head, a pain that comes when the voices begin anew. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Xander’s father Alex, his uncle Matt, and their housekeeper Rowena; Detective Kent, and his sister Camille, as well as Isleen’s grandmother Gale, and a cameo appearance by FBI consultant Lathan Montgomery. The requisite evil has many faces. Lathan’s story is next.

DANGEROUS DREAMS is the re-release of the author’s Race the Darkness, the introductory story line focusing on a group of supernatural law enforcement who take the cases no one else is able to solve. The premise is intense and gritty; the characters are broken yet strong; the romance is insta-lust to love, intimate and destined.

Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q Sutanto

Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q Sutanto

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
Vera Wong is a lonely little old lady–ah, lady of a certain age–who lives above her forgotten tea shop in the middle of San Francisco’s Chinatown. Despite living alone, Vera is not needy, oh no. She likes nothing more than sipping on a good cup of Wulong and doing some healthy detective work on the Internet about what her Gen-Z son is up to.

Then one morning, Vera trudges downstairs to find a curious thing–a dead man in the middle of her tea shop. In his outstretched hand, a flash drive. Vera doesn’t know what comes over her, but after calling the cops like any good citizen would, she sort of . . . swipes the flash drive from the body and tucks it safely into the pocket of her apron. Why? Because Vera is sure she would do a better job than the police possibly could, because nobody sniffs out a wrongdoing quite like a suspicious Chinese mother with time on her hands. Vera knows the killer will be back for the flash drive; all she has to do is watch the increasing number of customers at her shop and figure out which one among them is the killer.

What Vera does not expect is to form friendships with her customers and start to care for each and every one of them. As a protective mother hen, will she end up having to give one of her newfound chicks to the police?

Review:

Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto is a fun crazy captivating mystery.  We meet our heroine, Vera Wong, who is a lonely Asian elder woman (60’s), who lives above her tea shop in Chinatown.  Her shop is always empty, other than a local man who visits daily to have many different kinds of special teas with Vera.  Her life is about to change when one morning she finds a dead man in her in her tea shop.  The police don not pay attention to the case, as they decide the dead man died due to a bird allergy.

Vera decides to take it upon herself to investigate who murdered this man (even if the police do not feel he was murdered). When she gets strange visitors to look in her tea shop, Vera begins to make a list of suspects, and pushes herself into these new people’s lives; as she is determined to find the murderer, and in a short time she becomes close to all her new friends. We meet Riki, San, Oliver and Julia with her little girl, Emma.  Is one of them the murderer?

What follows is Vera’s constant putting herself into her so called suspects lives, navigating the many secrets and lies; learning everything about each of them. Vera constantly makes food/dinner for them, as well as pushing her wonderful tea; with all of them becoming close to her.  We get to see the POV’s on all of the five main characters.  At first, I did find Vera a bit bossy and annoying, but that didn’t last long as she was a quirky grandma sleuth, who for the most part was hysterical.  I loved all five characters, as they were so great together, especially with Vera also being such a good matchmaker.  As she learns the truths of their lives, she manages to cut the suspect list, until she finally realizes who is the culprit.

Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers was a fun, delightful, heartwarming, captivating cozy mystery, with fantastic characters.  Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers was so very well written by Jesse Q. Sutanto.  If you enjoy cozy mysteries that are pure fun, you need to read this book.

Love and Other Flight Delays by Denise Williams – a Review

Love and Other Flight Delays by Denise Williams – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
Love takes flight in a collection of sexy, fun novellas all set at the airport from the acclaimed author of The Fastest Way to Fall.

The Love Connection
An airport pet groomer meets her frequent-flier crush and finds herself in a fake-dating situation with a professional risk assessor who moonlights as a romance author.

The Missed Connection
Two strangers share a romantic night only to discover months later that they’re professional rivals about to embark on an extended business trip together in this grumpy-meets-sunshine romance.

The Sweetest Connection
Two best friends have one week to return a lost love letter found in a candy store at the airport–and work up the courage to confess the deep feelings between them–before one of them leaves the country.

Review:

Love and Other Flight Delays by Denise Williams is a collection of novellas, that I had previously read, that was set at airports.  All three novellas were cute fun romantic stories, with great couples.  Since I have already posted these novellas, below will be a condensed version.  I do suggest you read these novellas, as Denise Williams wrote them so well.

The Love Connection:
An airport pet groomer meets her frequent-flier crush and finds herself in a fake-dating situation with a professional risk assessor who moonlights as a romance author. Ollie Wright loves her job as a dog groomer, but isn’t interested in a romance, until she meets Bennett Baker. Bennett has a day job, but at night he writes romance novels, and is currently facing writer’s block. When he rescues a pup in the airport, he meets Ollie, who he immediately becomes enchanted with. The chemistry between them opens her heart and he becomes inspired to write again.

The Missed Connection:
Gia, our heroine, is at the airport, on her way home on New Year’s Eve; she is coming off of a break-up with her girlfriend.  She meets Felix at the bar, and they spent the evening talking, which ended with a kiss.  A few months later, she recognizes the man she met at the airport, who happens to be a rival academic who always criticized her work, and now he is her new coworker. Gia is very outgoing, fun, friendly, and Felix is the complete opposite; he doesn’t like associating with others, keeps to himself and comes across as very stuffy. The Missed Connection was a short story, that was very well written by Denise Williams.  I did enjoy the entire opposites attract romance, which was so very well done.

The Sweetest Connection:
We meet our heroine and hero at the start (Teagan & Silas), when they were freshmen paired up in an orientation event, which led to a wonderful strong friendship. The POV’s switched between past events and present time.  They had a wonderful history together as friends, as their bond was special. Teagan has a job in a candy shop, and Silas works as a problem solver in the airport. Silas knows he is very much in love with Teagan, but refrains from explaining his true feelings, as he is afraid to lose his best friend.  Of course, we know that Teagan also has feelings for Silas, with both hiding those feelings.  The Sweetest Connection was a cute, friends to lover’s short story.

If you have not read anything by Denise Williams, I suggest you need to read her fun romantic stories.

Birnam Wood by Eleanor Catton-a review

Birnam Wood by Eleanor Catton-a review

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Google Play /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 7, 2023

Birnam Wood is on the move . . .

Five years ago, Mira Bunting founded a guerrilla gardening group: Birnam Wood. An undeclared, unregulated, sometimes-criminal, sometimes-philanthropic gathering of friends, this activist collective plants crops wherever no one will notice: on the sides of roads, in forgotten parks, and neglected backyards. For years, the group has struggled to break even. Then Mira stumbles on an answer, a way to finally set the group up for the long term: a landslide has closed the Korowai Pass, cutting off the town of Thorndike. Natural disaster has created an opportunity, a sizable farm seemingly abandoned.

But Mira is not the only one interested in Thorndike. Robert Lemoine, the enigmatic American billionaire, has snatched it up to build his end-times bunker–or so he tells Mira when he catches her on the property. Intrigued by Mira, Birnam Wood, and their entrepreneurial spirit, he suggests they work this land. But can they trust him? And, as their ideals and ideologies are tested, can they trust each other?

•••••••

REVIEW:BIRNAM WOOD by Eleanor Catton is a contemporary, adult, stand alone psychological thriller focusing on a New Zealand collective calling themselves Birnam Wood, a co-op, a commune of hippie-style thirty-somethings who illegally plant sustainable, organic gardens in neglected spaces, and off-road areas for personal use and to share/sell to the otherwise unaware.

Told from third person perspective BIRNAM WOOD follows Mira Bunting, the so-called leader of the Birnam Wood gardening collective, and a woman who is struggling to keep the collective afloat. In the wake of a landslide that all but wiped out a major thoroughfare and pass, Mira goes in search of some property to confiscate for Birnam Wood, property owned by the recently knighted Sir Owen Darvish but has apparently been sold to American billionaire/ widower Robert Lemoine. All does not appear as it should be when one of their own, amateur journalist Tony Gallo, begins to question the who, how and why but Mira’s only concern is the ‘free land’, and the ability to equally grow crops. As Robert Lemoine’s intentions become clear to Tony, Mira and her friend Shelley are at an impasse, finding themselves in an impossible situation, a situation of which they no longer have any control. People will die, secrets revealed show collusions and conspiracies meant to deceive.

BIRNAM WOOD begins extremely slow and exceptionally dry as the author begins to build a foundation for her story line premise. The first twenty to twenty-five percent reads like a study in sociology; a social psychology experiment ; a cautionary tale of capitalism and consumerism, rich and poor, ecology and greed, murder, power and control. The character driven premise is dramatic, twisted, haunting and tragic; the characters are desperate, idealistic and challenging.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 14, 2023

Daniel Clark is the leader. The one who ensures everyone makes it out alive.

He took that responsibility seriously when he and his team served in the Navy SEALs together, and he takes it seriously now at the Resting Warrior Ranch.

When he and his men broke up the Riders—the vicious dogfighting gang who also kept some human captives—they got everyone to safety.

Except for the woman who’d been caged—Emma. She disappeared into the night.

So when she shows up in his tiny Montana town—in bad physical shape, begging not to be taken to the hospital—Daniel can’t believe it. He does the only thing he can: brings her home.

He’s a warrior, not a caregiver, but he’ll have to be both in this case. The people after her don’t just want to put her in a cage this time. They want her dead.

But if they want to get to Emma, they’re going to have to go through Daniel. And that’s not going to happen.

••••

REVIEWMONTANA FREEDOM is the sixth instalment in the contemporary, adult RESTING WARRIOR RANCH romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who own and work for Resting Warrior Ranch-a spin off from Janie Crouch’s Zodiac Tactical series. This is thirty-seven year old, former US Navy SEAL Daniel Clark, and twenty-two year old, IT specialist Emma Derine’s story line. MONTANA FREEDOM can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Emma and Daniel) MONTANA FREEDOM follows in the wake of the rescue and escape of Emma Derine. Six months earlier Emma was one of the women ‘rescued’ from a gun running group known as the ‘Riders’ but fearing for her life, Emma ran, without looking back. Fast forward to present day, Daniel has never stopped thinking or looking for the woman he found trapped in a cage, the woman that kept him awake at night, ridden with guilt but finding a sick and injured Emma at the local grocery gave Daniel a second chance, a second chance to claim the woman with whom he would fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Emma and Daniel, and the fall-out as Emma’s past returns, in an effort to finish the job.

Daniel Clark suffers with issues of PTSD, not only from his time spent as a US Navy SEAL but in the wake of Emma Derine’s disappearance. Finding Emma gave Daniel some hope but Emma’s past wasn’t too far behind, and the FBI is determined to use Emma as bait to bring in the people who destroyed her life.

The relationship between Emma and Daniel begins as a rescue, not once but twice, and Daniel fears Emma will run again. Emma has an eidetic memory, and the FBI wants to know and use every bit of information including our story line heroine. Daniel continues to struggle with the age difference between himself and Emma but the heart wants something that head is unable to refuse. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Most of the previous story line couples return including Lucas and Evelyn, Harlan and Grace, Grant and Cori, Noah and Kate, Lena and Jude, and the introduction of FBI Agents Jones, and Phillips. The requisite evil has many faces.

MONTANA FREEDOM is a story of search and rescue, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, acceptance and love, family and friendships. The fast paced premise is intriguing and suspenseful; the romance is seductive and desirable; the characters are charming and charismatic.

The Shadow of Theron by Kathryn Troy-Review & Guest Post

The Shadow of Theron (Age of Shadows 1) by Kathryn Troy-Review & Guest Post

ebook only 99¢Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / Amazon.UK /B&N / KOBO /

The powers of old are fading. A new Age is dawning.

Holy relics are all that remain of Theron’s sacred legend.

Now those relics, the enchanted weapons forged by the Three-Faced Goddess to help Theron defeat the wicked Sorcerer Argoss, are disappearing.

Lysandro knows the village magistrate Marek is responsible, and he searches for proof disguised as the masked protector the Shadow of Theron.

But when Marek wounds him with an accursed sword that shouldn’t exist, Lysandro must find a way to stop Marek from gaining any more artifacts created by the Goddess or her nemesis.

The arrival of the beautiful newcomer Seraphine, with secrets of her own, only escalates their rivalry.

As the feud between Lysandro and Marek throws Lighura into chaos, a pair of priestesses seeks to recover the relics and return them to safekeeping. But the stones warn that Argoss is returning, and they must race to retrieve Theron’s most powerful weapon.

While they risk their lives for a legend, only one thing is certain. The three temples to the Goddess have been keeping secrets: not just from the faithful, but from each other.

•••••••••

REVIEW: Another magical read for me. And I loved it. Although a little slow and confusing in the beginning, it’s worth continuing as it’s a really good read. Written really well, plenty of descriptions and feelings put into this book.

A little Zorro in places, he fights for justice wearing a mask, Lysandro wants answers and thinks Marek knows the answers to his questions.

Seraphine becomes entangled in the two’s world, she’s not a pushover by any means. She’s not impressed with Marek (who really is a nasty person) but with Lysandro that’s a whole different story, how she didn’t guess Lysandro wasn’t Theron I’ll never know (but look at the weak guise superman/Clark Kent used!) and her reaction when she finally knows the truth was a little overboard.

Both Lysandro and Marek make a play for Seraphine, but it’s Lysandro that wins her heart, but it’s not an easy task, it might be love at first sight for Lysandro, but it took a little time to convince her ?

There are triggers in this book, it’s a dark fantasy with a splash of romance. There is mentioning a of rape (not the MFC) there is a hanging scene, and scenes of torture! But the violence is kept to a minimum, and for those who don’t like bad language, that’s hardly used.

Can Lysandro find the missing relics that will help him overcome evil? Can he convince Sera to give them a chance, and if she does, then will they be able to stay together? Will he ever find the mystical items to help him beat the evil Sorcerer?

I really enjoyed the book. So I’d recommend this one to those who enjoy action and adventure with a little romance.

Lysandro moved along the edges of the room, circumnavigating the central space occupied by countless dancing couples. Then he saw her. At the far end of the hall, the normal view out over the coast had been replaced by a painted backdrop of the Maghreve Desert, at the very farthest border of Mirêne. With her arms wrapped around herself, Seraphine looked out over the artificial horizon. She wore a sleek ivory dress covered in gold and copper crystals that left her shoulders daringly bare. That now familiar ache that hadn’t left him since this morning grew more pronounced.
As he observed the faraway, wistful look in her eyes, he realized he recognized it—homesickness. He took a deep breath and called on well-used skills to smooth his nerves and keep them tightly tucked away under a charming façade.
He inhaled the hypnotic scent of her hair again as he stood close to her, and almost lost his nerve. He agonized over what to say, knowing he might have only one shot to get her attention.
“Is the city of stars as beautiful as they say?”
She turned to face him, and he saw the truth in her eyes.

Guest Post: The Act of Creation by Kathryn Troy

So many writers are so often asked by avid readers and aspiring writers alike: “Where do you get your ideas?”

It’s a natural question to ask, but it can be just as hard for some authors to answer this as it is to come up with the “elevator speech.” Which got me to thinking what it is about this query that bothers everybody so much.

The simple, semi-redundant answer to “where I get my ideas” is: I get them from my head. Because I’m creative. It’s in my nature to be observant, thoughtful, and reflective. I also have a knack for stringing words together because I’ve been doing it so long and make it a regular habit. To read the question in an unkind way, asking someone where they get their ideas is another way of saying “I have no ideas of my own, and I don’t know why.” Some people are creative. Some people are not. It’s wiring in the brain that causes this, and it’s not a personal affront to people who can’t imagine or tell stories, the same way it’s not an affront to the large majority of people who can’t draw beyond a kindergartner’s level, or those who become nauseous at the sight of the formulae of an astrophysicist. It takes a certain kind of brain function, coupled with practice, instruction, and discipline.

The same is true of writing. There are multiple skill sets at work here: the ability to research (possibly), deep reading (to understand themes of other authors and engage with them in your own work), understanding narrative (plot, narrative tension, setting, character, etc. etc. etc.) the actual writing (technicalities like grammar and sentence construction, poetic ability, vocabulary, mood), an imagination, an understanding of tropes and how to bend them, just enough to be new but not totally out there…and the list goes on and on.

So again: Where do I get my ideas?

1. From what I read: I see divergent storylines, or ways to fulfill my anticipation if the actual writing did not. I also absorb character types, environmental description, the setting of mood, and dialogue patterns. In the case of my latest book, The Shadow of Theron, its influences were, for starters: Zorro, Wheel of Time, Pyrdain, Indiana Jones, The Legend of Zelda, Xena: Warrior Princess, regency romance, the Spanish Inquisition, Italian principalities, Chinese mystery novels, The Odyssey, Berserk…I could go on. And on.

2. From what I see and hear: my stories are shot in full trillion-dollar color in my head-then I find the words to describe what I see in my mind’s eye. A collection of movie aesthetics, sounds, actor mannerisms, lighting, framing, perspective. Inspiration has come from tense strains in music-like the theatrical accompaniment of a musical movement. It promotes mood production and emotion.

3. From what I’ve experienced: Places I’ve been have given me plenty of inspiration- places that speak of the past, or promise the future. Where I’ve traveled. The activities I participate in. Everyday circumstances and practicalities.

4. From daydreaming: experimenting with my characters, allowing them multiple possibilities to understand behavior, predictability, authenticity.

To summarize: if you’re looking for inspiration, some things you can do that might help you: Reading, Writing, Observing, Living, and Dreaming.
There. I’ve given you the keys to the universe. Use wisely.

I’m a history professor by day, a novelist by night. I like to write what I read – fantasy, romantic fantasy, gothic fiction, historical fiction,  paranormal, horror, and weird fiction. Horror cinema and horticulture are my other passions.

When I’m not reading or writing or teaching, I’m gaming, traveling, baking, or adding some new weird creepy cool thing to my art collection. I’m a Long Island native with one husband, two children, and three rats.

Never Date Your Male Friends. Why hadn’t I listened to my own advice?

They say dreams don’t come true.
In my case they did.
After I finished my FBI training in Quantico, I landed back in my hometown of Atlanta, working undercover.
It was what I’d dreamed of since I was a kid.
I’d found my one and only true love – a.k.a. work — and was perfectly content.
Until an old friend, my best friend from fifteen years ago, came barging back into my life.
Except now, Landry Baines wasn’t a scrawny teenager.
He was a much taller, more muscular version of his old self.
Cue, the drool.
And the sleeping ovaries snapping to attention.
That’s how I ended up breaking my no-sleeping-with-men-on-the-first-date rule.
What was I thinking?
Clearly, it had been sex.
Now, I was so screwed.
Landry wanted in… and more.
He wanted control and I wasn’t giving that up for anyone.
That’s how this Tall, Dark, and Dirty man ended up becoming my enemy.

•••••••

REVIEW:Tall, Dark and Dirty is the third installment in the Baines Family series. This can be read as a standalone, but as always, I recommend reading the series in order. If you like friends to lovers, over the top alphaholes and a good giggle, this is the series for you.

From a young age Landry’s life was rough, with a workaholic dad and a drunk for a mom, his childhood was anything but ice cream and baseball games. His one reprieve is the little girl next store to him, Shiloh. Friends from the first moment, they spend all their time together, until Shiloh moves away.

Fast forward some years later and Landry is out with a friend and who does he see? Sure enough, his childhood friend; Shiloh. When he confronts her, thinking they can catch up, he is told that she isn’t who he thought she was. She gets aggressive and pushes him away, but Landry is convinced that this woman is his Shiloh. But why is she acting like this?

Shiloh is living her dream working for the FBI, it is what she has always wanted to do and she has worked her booty off to get where she is. During an undercover assignment, Shiloh gets a surprise from her childhood friend; Landry. She can’t come out and tell him what is going on. She’s undercover after all. So she does her job. The next day, she reaches out to him, trying to explain why she acted that way.

That’s when the good stuff starts.

Landry and Shiloh were so much fun to read. I love Hargroves books, they always transport me right into the stories and into the characters’ lives. Shi and Landry have to fight for their relationship. Shi loves her job, but Landry is a OTT alphahole who is protective and possessive, this makes their romance a little more complicated than most. Shi is a Boss, she excels at her job, earns the respect of everyone there, and still manages to make time to find love. Their relationship is a give and take, and of course there is a drama that they must overcome. All in all, the book is awesome, and I recommend reading it.

REVIEW: A SENSE OF DUTY is the second instalment in Sam Crescent’s contemporary, adult VOLKOV BRATVA dark, erotic, Bratva romance series. This is forty year old, Bratva Brigadier Andrei Belov, and twenty-one year old Adelaide’s story line. A SENSE OF DUTY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Adelaide and Andrei) A SENSE OF DUTY follows in the aftermath of the arranged marriage between forty year old, Bratva Brigadier Andrei Belov, and twenty-one year old Adelaide. Ivan Volkov is the head of the Volkov Bratva, and as such has arranged a marriage between his Brigadier Andrei Belov, and Adelaide’s sister Bethany but Bethany has angered the man in charge, and Andrei finds himself facing a woman who knows nothing about the life of which she is about to enter. Adelaide is an innocent, unaware of the nuances of Bratva life, and believes she is nothing more than a pawn in a bigger game for the Bratva alliances. From the outset Andrei Belov struggles with what to do with his new wife, a struggle that forces Andrei to push away the woman with whom he will fall in love but someone is targeting our story line couple, and with Andrei’s territory at risk, the safety of his young wife, and his need for control, threaten everything that has ever mattered. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship between Andrei and Adelaide, and the potential fall-out as Adelaide must face down an enemy she knows all too well.

The relationship between Adelaide and Andrei is an age gap, arranged marriage between a powerful member of the Volkov Bratva, and an innocent woman with issues of low self esteem, and a family who has turned their backs on their youngest daughter. Adelaide is the black sheep of the family, and as such as been sold to the Bratva to save someone else. Andrei’s attraction to Adelaide is hidden behind a mask of indifference and power but Andrei’s control is about to snap when the threat against Adelaide comes from a familiar place. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic, and provocative.

There is a large ensemble cast of interesting secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced to Andrei’s driver and security Leo; Adelaide’s friend Nathan, her sister Bethany, Volkov Pakhan Ivan Volkov; casino worker Anna; MC member Rage, and his ‘daughter’ Lottie, Oleg Pavlov, and the return of Aurora and Slavik Ivanov. The requisite evil has many faces.

A SENSE OF DUTY is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, fractured family dynamics, acceptance and love. The premise is dark, gritty and heart breaking; the romance is provocative but struggles in the face of issues of trust; the characters are broken, charismatic and tenacious.
