Now a lawyer with a plan to practice business law, he’s ready for a normal life. The coveted junior partner position is his next goal—but he’s pitted against the enigmatic woman he’s spent two years admiring from afar, and he can’t resist his desire to learn more.

Hailey Adams grew up in foster care, where she learned how to avoid danger. Her intense self-discipline and vow to never let anyone make her feel vulnerable again have landed her one case away from the security of partnership at a prestigious D.C. firm. But teaming with the charming Finn tests her well-honed ability to keep people at a distance.

Finn finally breaks through Hailey’s walls just in time for her to find out he kept the biggest secret of all. Will this be a case Finn loses, or can Hailey learn to trust the first person who’s made her feel safe?

REVIEW:LOVE AND ORDER is the fourth (and final?) instalment in Stella Holt’s contemporary, adult LEGACY OF THE MAGUIRES romance series focusing on the Maguire siblings. This is former US Navy SEAL /attorney Finn Maguire, and twenty-eight year old attorney Hailey Adams’ story line. LOVE AND ORDER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from omniscient dual third person perspectives (Hailey and Finn) LOVE AND ORDER follows the building romance and relationship between attorneys Finn Maguire and Hailey Adams. Finn Maguire and Hailey Adams are both in line to make junior partner at the firm of Baxter and Stewart but in an effort to prove who is worthy for the lone coveted position, the firm wants the duo to work together on a divorce case that will push the limits of betrayal and greed but Finn never expected to fall for his fellow attorney, a woman most considered cold and aloof, but fall he did for our story line heroine. Hailey Adams is determined to win the case and the position at Baxter and Stewart but someone is trying to sabotage behind the scenes, and Hailey is about to discover that the more time she spends with Finn Maguire, the more she is falling for the man who could break her heart. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Finn and Hailey, and the potential fall-out as another case for Finn begins to take on some familiar significance.

The world building continues to focus on the large and boisterous Maguire family including Finn’s siblings and their significant others. As Finn and Hailey begin to uncover some information pertaining to their case, help may come from an unexpected source, a judge with close connections to our story line hero.

The relationship between Hailey and Finn is one of co-workers; attorneys forced to work together wherein only one will be awarded a junior position at the firm. Finn Maguire is hoping for something more with our story line heroine but Hailey’s past is about to come full circle as she struggles to trust or let anyone get close. The $ex scenes are passionate but mostly implied.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and sassy characters including all of Finn’s siblings, their parents, several lawyers and partners at Baxter and Stewart, as well as Finn’s Navy commander Admiral Maddox, and a number of Finn’s former SEAL teammates. I am hoping the author has plans for the US Navy SEALs.

LOVE AND ORDER is a story of family, friendships and relationships, secrets and regret, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is captivating and intriguing with a couple of twists that were easily deduced; the romance is seductive; the characters are determined, desperate and wonderful.

REVIEW:ALPHA is the third instalment in JL Drake’s contemporary, adult DARK WATER romantic suspense series, a spin off series, interconnected with the author’s BLACKSTONE and BROKEN worlds. This is the continuing story of Major Ty Beckett, and psychiatrist Dr. Ivy Knight. ALPHA should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events of book two WHISKEY, referencing numerous past missions and plot lines, as well as focusing on the embattled relationship between Lexi and Keith (ESCAPE: Blackstone series 2).

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from three first person perspectives (Ty, Ivy and Eric) ALPHA follows in the aftermath of the abduction of one of their own, and the return of Major Ty Beckett to the team at Blackstone at the Shadows. Dr. Ivy Knight is working temporarily with the Blackstone Special Ops team, at one of their safehouses known as the Shadows but her relationship with Major Ty Beckett is struggling in the face of his inability to let go of the past, a past that wants something more from our story line hero. Meanwhile, a Code Red has been activated, one of their own is missing, and the team is struggling to get information on the who, why or how. The Mexican Cartel is once again taking aim at the Blackstone Operatives, abducting and threatening anyone who gets in the way.

The world building continues to focus on the previous missions, sins of the past, and a need for vengeance against the Blackstone team. I would strongly recommend reading the previous two books in the Dark Water series, and if able, reading ESCAPE (Blackstone 2) and the author’s BROKEN trilogy. Several of the events in the current timelines are as of a direct result from the events in the aforementioned books/series .

The relationship between Ivy and Ty is one of second chances, of a sort. At any given point Ty Beckett is on the run, into danger and precarious situations, often forgetting about the people he has left behind. Ivy continues to struggle with Ty’s need to save everyone else, a need that is a constant pressure to save our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and dynamic characters most of whom were introduced and played a significant role in both the BLACKSTONE series and BROKEN trilogy. The past refuses to let go; vengeance is an obsession; betrayal may come at the cost of someone’s life.

ALPHA is a complex, detailed and dramatic story of secrets and lies, power and control, obsession and vengeance, understanding and love. The premise is edgy and intense; the romance is seductive but struggles in the face of mistrust; the characters are desperate and broken. ALPHA ends on a cliff hanger-there is no happily ever after at this point in the series.

Description:
When this club selects a book, magic happens. They become the main characters in the story when the mystery comes to life.

This month’s book selection takes them to a charming island community that’s abuzz over a mysterious boat that washed ashore. Rumor has it that it’s the same pirate boat that sunk a year ago in the bay. The one that supposedly sank with treasure aboard.

When the club meets the ghosts of the men from the boat, they learn the astonishing secrets of the treasure. These ghosts can’t move on until it is found.

Can the motley group find the treasure and free the ghosts? They better, since it’s the only way they can exit the book and get back home.

Review:

Secrets and Scallywags by Elizabeth Pantley is the 5th book in her fun entertaining Magical Mystery Book Club series. Refresher: Paige and her Aunt Glo, inherited the grandmother’s country inn, which comes with a magical library.  The magical library consists of 8 members, who choose a book, and they are transported into the story, with cozy mysteries that they have to solve. This is a lighthearted and fun series, with wonderful characters and a magical cozy mystery.

Our mystery book club gains a new member, Valeria, as all the current members welcome her, and explain how things work in their special secret magical library.   The book they choose contains pirates and lost treasure, which takes them to a charming island community. The residents are all taking about the boat that washed ashore, and it was the same boat that was attacked a year ago, by pirates.

The club meets the 4 ghosts and Bucko (ghostly parrot) from the boat, who are able to communicate with them, but unable to touch.  They learn about the secrets of the treasure, which the captain pleads with them to help take on a quest to free them.  Seems the pirates that destroyed their boat, stole their treasure, but most important, they stole a valuable bracelet that belonged to the captain’s mom. The club needed to retrieve the necklace, for them to enable them to be free and continue their mission to stop the bad pirates.

What follows is a fun story that has all the members trying to find clues where the missing necklace and gems might be found.  I really enjoy this series, as it is so very entertaining.  All the characters in the Magical Mystery Book Club are very good, with Paige and Glo being the leaders, and Frank (the talking cat) always enjoyable. I really like all of the club members, and get a kick out of Mollie, their own resident ghost.

Secrets and Scallywags was another terrific and fun addition to this series, with all of the members in the middle of this mystery; trying to save the ghosts. There were a few surprises throughout, which was so much fun and a blast to read. Secrets and Scallywags was a wonderful lighthearted fun magical mystery, which was very well written by Elizabeth Pantley.  I look forward to the next book.

Review:

Beneath Dark Waters by Karen Rose is the 28th book in her Romance Suspense novels, and the 2nd book in her New Orleans series. As I have mentioned previously, I am a big fan of Karen Rose, as her suspense thrillers are amazing, and unputdownable.  Beneath Dark Waters is another fabulous book that is once again over 600 pages. Rose always creates fantastic heroes and wonderful secondary characters, as well as evil villains; and this does not change in this book, as she writes another masterpiece. Beneath Dark Waters is a tense, violent, exciting, non-stop action filled story that kept me on the edge of to my seat from start to finish.

We meet Assistant DA J.P. (Kaj) Cardozo, when his 10-year-old son, Elijah, who was almost kidnapped.  Kaj fears for his son’s life, especially since he doesn’t trust some of the New Orleans Police Department, and hires Broussard Investigations to protect him. Burke Broussard’s private investigation firm has an excellent reputation, and after talking to Kaj, Burke assigns Val Sorenson, a former marine, to be his son’s bodyguard.

Val is very good at her job, and has been very successful in protecting young kids, as well as having a past connection implicating drug gangs.   Val is a strong, savvy and fantastic guardian, very caring around children; she also ensures that Elijah, being a diabetic, takes his medicines and eats the proper food. Val moves into Kaj’s home, with her dog, Czar (huge dog), who has been trained.  I quickly fell in love with Czar and how close the dog protected Elijah.

Val, Kaj, and other members of the Broussard team, begin to investigate deeper into the kidnapping attempt, realizing that is a more dangerous and explosive crime, between a drug gang, murderers who will stop at nothing to kill anyone standing in their way, as well deep corruption in the New Orleans P.D. Kaj, Val and Elijah, as well as members of the team, find their lives deep in danger.  Kaj is currently working on two high profile cases, involving the death of a doctor, who was beaten to death, as he was blamed for the death of his son; the other is a trial with an actress accuseing an evil man of rape. Both cases have some connection, with a group of evil and dangerous hired killers, who have no qualms of committing murder; as well as the police corruption.

Both Val and Kaj slowly become attracted to each other, not to mention Val also becoming attached to Elijah. They each have their own past trauma, with each sharing their history.  Kaj having lost his wife to cancer, and taking good care of his so; Val was brutally raped by three Marines, which she needed therapy to move on with her life.

Corey Gates, and his friends Bobby and Ed are evil villains, who have involvements in both of Kai’s cases, and will stop at nothing to get what they want, even killing the younger Gates brothers. Throughout the book, from start to finish, there were so many murders, emotions, grief, torture, PTSD, as well as twists and turns. Who will survive the onslaught?

What follows is an intriguing, intense, exciting, and edge of your seat suspense story line that had me holding my breath so many times.  This story was very tense from all the way through, especially with the evil villains constantly killing off many innocent people.  As we raced to the wild climax, I prayed for the for the survival of all the good people, and the demise of the main villain. I do not want to give spoilers, as you really need to read this book from start to finish.

Beneath Dark Waters was very well written by Karen Rose, which was an intense thriller, with non- stop action all the way.  As I have said before, Karen Rose never fails to give us an amazing fantastic well written thriller that is intense, always on the edge, with fantastic characters, evil villains and a wonderful family you care for. If you love suspense, with a touch of romance and a thriller all the way, then look no further then Karen Rose.

BENEATH DARK WATERS by Karen Rose
Berkley Hardcover | August 15, 2023
                                    Excerpt

“Morning, Val,” Burke rumbled in that deep Cajun drawl of his. “You have a new client. Bring a cupcake for him.”

Okaaaay. Holding the two cupcakes, Val walked to Burke’s office door, hearing the whir of Joy’s motorized wheelchair as the older woman followed her, unabashedly curious. A shiver of trepidation raced down Val’s spine.

A moment later, she knew why. Assistant District Attorney Jean-Pierre Cardozo was coming to his feet, having been seated in one of the chairs in front of Burke’s desk. She’d first met him at a party back in the summer. Burke and his staff had been celebrating with some clients after closing an all-hands-on-deck case when Cardozo had arrived, dressed in an expensive black suit that made him look like a Fortune 500 CEO.

He’d been charming as hell and impossible to ignore, despite her best efforts-that day and later. Unable to resist, she’d found herself googling him later that evening, learning surprisingly little personal information. Other than a few of the cases he’d tried up in the New York City courts, the man had no real internet presence, which took a lot of talent. Burke’s IT guy, Antoine, would surely have been able to dig up a lot more, but she’d been unwilling to ask. Unwilling to voice aloud that the man had fascinated her.

She knew only that he’d recently moved from New York and that his first name was spelled K-a-j, but pronounced Kai, rhyming with pie. And she only knew those tidbits because she’d overheard Burke telling someone else in the firm.

After that day, she’d seen Cardozo twice. Once a couple weeks ago at another party at a friend’s restaurant, Le Petit Choux. He hadn’t stayed long, and she’d managed to avoid him. Their most recent crossing of paths had been in a courtroom the week before, a plea hearing for one of the criminals whose crimes Burke’s group had exposed. No words had been exchanged between them either time, but Val had noticed the man’s every movement.

He moved so very nicely. And he was a good guy, prosecuting bad guys, but that smile he’d worn . . . He could get her to trust that smile. Which meant he was dangerous.

He didn’t look anything like that now. He was as handsome as before, his dark brown hair neatly combed, his face freshly shaven. His khakis were unwrinkled, the sleeves of his casual button-up shirt rolled up, exposing tanned forearms. He even wore a tie printed with whimsical dinosaurs. But his expression appeared haggard, as if he hadn’t slept at all.

And his dark eyes were full of fear.

Val glanced to the corner of the room, revealing the source of his fear. A boy of about nine or ten sat at Burke’s little meeting table. His hair was white-blond, unlike Cardozo’s. But their faces were too much alike for them not to be related. Father and son, she thought.

She hadn’t realized that Cardozo had a child, and she didn’t want to think about why that disappointed her. It didn’t matter that the child had a mother, that Cardozo had a significant other. It didn’t matter because she was not interested in ADA Cardozo, first name Kaj that rhymed with pie.

The child, however, had captured her attention. He clutched a tablet in his hands, staring down at it with a vacant look that Val recognized all too well.

She’d seen it in the mirror plenty of times.

He’d been traumatized. He didn’t look up, so Val turned back to his father.

“Hey,” Val said quietly, because the mood in the room was brittle. “It’s good to see you again, ADA Cardozo.”

The man’s throat worked as he swallowed. “Likewise. This is my son, Elijah. Elijah, this is Miss Sorensen.”

My new client? Val wondered. She looked at Burke, who inclined his head toward the boy, gesturing her to engage.

“Hi, Elijah,” she said, approaching the table. “I’m Val.”

The boy didn’t look up until Val put the cupcake in front of him. “Hi,” he whispered.

It was one tiny word, but said with a determination that won her respect. She pointed at the cupcake. “That’s yours.”

“And that one, too?” Elijah asked, pointing at the cupcake still in her hand.

“Pfft. No,” she said, using her best duh tone. “This one is mine. You’re a greedy one, aren’t you?” She smiled so that he would know she was teasing.

The boy’s lips quirked up before returning to a grim line. “Was worth a try.”

“It’s always worth a try when cupcakes are on the line. Are you my new client?”

Elijah pushed Harry Potter-style glasses up on his nose. “I guess so.”

“May I sit down?” She waited until Elijah nodded before taking the seat beside him. From this vantage point she could see the boy’s face as well as that of his father.

Cardozo lowered himself back into his chair in front of Burke’s desk, his face still frozen in a rictus of fear.

Whatever had happened, it had been bad.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 14, 2023

Breaking News: Rugby’s bad boy marries his best friend’s little sister
If Renn Brewer would’ve asked me to marry him, I would’ve said no.
Why?
One, his reputation precedes him. His name is in the headlines at least once a month. Two, he’s not just my brother’s best friend. They’re teammates. And three, I’m in my self-care era.
Unfortunately, a version of me equates self-care with bad choices.
The cocktail in my hand—similar to the one that got me into this situation—is the prettiest shade of pink. It’s almost the same color as the giant rock on my left hand. And instead of discussing an annulment, I’m considering a 90-day marriage of convenience to the man I accidentally married in Las Vegas.
Renn didn’t propose marriage. But he does deliver a proposal I might be unable to turn down.

••••

REVIEW:What do you get when you mix delicious booze and your brother’s best friend you ask? Marriage. That’s right, marriage. The Proposal is the perfect title for this little gem! Adriana Locke delivers another sports romance/fake marriage romance that is sure to spice things up for readers.

On her girls trip to Vegas, celebrating her 30th birthday, Blakely and her bestie Ella are in for more than a fun girls trip. Blakley’s brother Brock, who is on and off again with Ella, along with Renn, the biggest playboy of the century not only interrupt their trip, but cause the biggest oops to ever happen in Blakely’s life. Renn is hot, sure, but he is a ladies man, his reputation is already known by all, not to mention he is her brother’s best friend, no matter what that makes him wayyyyyyy off limits.

So what happens when she wakes up in bed with him, with a rock the size of the Chrysler building on her hand? All hell breaks loose that’s what. Renn and Blakley have known each other for years, they always felt a spark between them, but never acted on it, but booze has a way of bringing down walls and in this case; it did more than that.

Renn and Blakely were so much fun to read! I really enjoyed how much history they shared, but also how they had new things to learn about one another as well. More than anything I found myself giggling a lot while reading this, and I think that makes a read I will always want to come back to. I hope this is more than a standalone and we get to see not only more of these characters, but Ella’s and Brock’s story as well.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 14, 2023

The world thinks I only write songs about my ex-boyfriends.

They study each lyric to point a finger at which man broke my heart—even if I’ve never met him.

Only the man I refuse to write about is the one who is so tangled in my mind that I know I can never be with him.

I had one night with East Wilder, and I know that’s all there will ever be.

He broke my heart without even trying.

Yet now I can’t seem to write a single verse and I need a place to hide while I figure out who I am. The Wilder Retreat will have to be my refuge as the Wilders prepare for my best friend’s wedding.

And when I’m there, I refuse to fall for East again.

Even if the dark shadows in his eyes draw me in. And the dangers of his past might be the one thing that forces us to finally give in.

•••••

REVIEW:We are back with the Wilders! Stay Here With Me is the fifth installment in the Wilder Brothers series by Carrie Ann Ryan and this book is the story of the Grumpy East and Lark the song bird. For new readers, I do recommend reading the Wilder series in order, you can read SWM as a standalone, but the characters are much more rounded when you do.

East is the grumpy handyman of Wilder Events, it’s what he is known for. He is struggling and quiet, but always there when people need him. Lark on the other hand is free spirited, she loves her music, but she is for her new album, the inspiration just isn’t there. Lark is famous for her music, her songs on her relationships to be more specific, she has always used the same person as a muse for her music, but now things have changed. Now there is East.

When East and Lark spend one heck of a night together, filled with passion, the music she has struggled to find sparks to light. Too bad she promised East that he wouldn’t end up a song for the masses. The song is everything, and one of the best she has ever made, but when it gets released…well lets just say that East is not pleased.

There were parts of this book that I liked more than others, but the plot is good and the characters are always enjoyable to read. East is so broken, his trust is hard to win, Lark is good for him, but with his PTSD everyday is a struggle. This book is intense, the journey of these two us a turbulent adventure, but one readers will surely love.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 15, 2023

Passion’s magic ignites a fire too hot to touch—and too wicked to die…

The stars have always called to Ailis, beckoning her to see what other realms were out there. She’s told its impossible, but that doesn’t stop her need to explore beyond what others believe. Ailis never expected to change history by creating the first doorway to another realm. She certainly never imagined opening that door to find a commanding dragon who shifts into a man. She’s irresistibly drawn to Lennox, powerless against the yearning of her body and the longing of her heart.

Magic might have chosen Lennox as King of Dragon Kings, but it’s a position he’s never wanted. Until the day a new being arrives—and irrevocably changes his life. The closer he gets to the fearless, ravishing woman, the more he fights the passion that flares between them. He lives only for his duty, but one fiery kiss unleashes a firestorm of desire that will ripple across eons and realms. Fate might have brought them together, but will it also tear them apart?

The origins of the Dark Kings/Dragon Kings and the entire Dark Universe is finally revealed.

•••••

REVIEW:IGNITE THE MAGIC by Donna Grant is the prequel story line revealing the origins of the author’s Dark Kings and Dragon Kings series. This is King of Dragon Kings Lennox, and Dark Fae Ailis’ story line. IGNITE THE MAGIC can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion, it is best have some prior understanding and working knowledge of the series.

Told from omniscient dual third person perspectives (Lennox and Ailis) IGNITE THE MAGIC introduces the back story and history when the Dragons makes first contact with someone from another realm. Ailis is a Dark Fae, and after ‘borrowing’ a book of magic, travels through a magical door onto a place she will come to know as Earth. Coming face to face with Lennox, King of the Dragon Kings, Ailis believes she has entered another dimension but will quickly discover her magic and presence changes the history of the dragons forever. Ailis and Lennox know they are one another’s fated mate but all is not well in the world of the Dragon, and Lennox must make some hard decisions including hiding the woman with whom he has fallen in love.

IGNITE THE MAGIC is a story of discovery and acceptance, discrimination and betrayal, power and control, love and understanding. The character driven premise is heart breaking, emotional and revealing; the romance is fated and passionate; the characters are powerful and determined.

Lennox knew every creature on the realm, and the one before him wasn’t one of them. The being was small, seemingly harmless, but underestimating her would be his folly. He climbed out of the water, intending to investigate this new arrival—and what it wanted. His duty was to protect the dragons and the realm itself—from anything he deemed a threat. And until he knew differently, the newcomer was exactly that.
While he didn’t know what it was yet, his magic informed him that it was female. He took in her exotic look, finding it surprisingly appealing. Her thick hair fell nearly to her hips, the black strands woven with bright silver. Her oval face was both delicate and fierce—a combination that utterly intrigued him. Her crimson eyes were ringed in black, making her thick, midnight lashes more pronounced. She had high cheekbones, a stubborn tilt to her chin, and lips that drew his gaze again and again.
She wore garments to cover herself, which he found curious. Though he had to admit he liked the way they contoured to her body, showcasing every amazing curve. The article closest to her skin was so dark a green it was nearly black. Over that was a piece of black leather laced up her front to end in a V at her breasts, showing the green beneath it and then her beige skin.
Draped across her body was a length of leather with a bag attached at the end. Her legs were encased in black with material that looked as supple and pliable as skin. Her feet were also covered in leather, albeit thicker, the material going all the way up to her knees.
His gaze moved back to her mouth as she spoke. He frowned as he listened to the inaudible words. Lennox then noticed the iridescent orbs in each of her hands. He immediately realized it was magic of some sort. So, this female had magic as dragons did. Interesting.
She spoke again, and his power began to decipher the words.
“…well? Get on with it,” she demanded.
Lennox fought not to smile at her pluck. He wanted to talk to her, but dragons didn’t communicate as she did. No sooner had the thought gone through his mind than pain shot through him. Bones snapped, and muscles and ligaments tore. A bellow locked in his throat at the agony. It felt like it went on forever, and then it was just…gone.
He suddenly found himself no longer towering over the female. Lennox glanced down at himself to see that he looked like her. That wasn’t possible. He lifted his hands, expecting to see his long talons, but they were gone. As were his scales.
“Bloody hell,” she murmured, her voice soft with surprise.
He knew he was stunned. This had never happened before. He swallowed and worked his mouth as she continued eyeing him suspiciously. Lennox wanted to move, but he was still testing his new body. The last thing he wanted was to fall flat on his face. The female might just use those balls of magic on him.
Lennox flexed his fingers and squeezed his toes in the rocks that lined the shore. He rotated his shoulders before stilling as something landed against his cheek. He reached up to feel it. He tugged but discovered it was attached to his head.
“That’s your hair,” the female stated.
He looked at her black and silver locks and tried to see his. To his surprise, he could move it around enough to see that it was a golden hue.
“You understand me?”
Lennox’s gaze slid to her as he nodded. But he didn’t try for words. He touched his face. His long snout and sharp teeth were gone. Once more, hands drew his gaze. He rubbed his fingers along his thumb, captivated by the feeling. This was entirely different than what he experienced in his other form. There were thousands more sensations, each demanding his attention.

REVIEW: A VAMPIRE’S FATE is the fourth instalment in Marie-Claude Bourque’s contemporary, adult ORDER OF THE BLACK OAK-VAMPIRES erotic, paranormal romance series. This is new wolf pack alpha /registered practical nurse Rosalie Gauthier, and warrior vampire/ Mont-Royal Immortal guardian Renaud ‘Ren’ St. Amand’s story line. A VAMPIRE’S FATE can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order as the author/characters reference previous events throughout.

Told from omniscient dual third person perspectives (Rosalie and Ren) A VAMPIRE’S FATE follows in the wake of the arranged marriage between new wolf pack alpha /registered practical nurse Rosalie Gauthier, and warrior vampire/guardian Renaud ‘Ren’ St. Amand. With her father and alpha, Alcide Gauthier’s health failing, Rosalie must step up and take the position that has been linked to her family for hundreds of years but there are some wolves who do not want a female in charge, and by marrying Rosalie to her vampire protector Renaud ‘Ren’ St. Amand, Alicide is hoping his daughter will be powerful enough to face what is coming. Another powerful wolf has challenged Rosalie for the top position but Rosalie is about to face a fight to the death in an effort to keep the power in her family’s line. What ensues is the arranged marriage, and building relationship between Ren and Rosalie, and the potential fall-out as the challenger fights dirty threatening the lives of everyone Rosalie loves.

The world building focuses on the accension to the proverbial throne. Rosalie’s brother is too young to take command, and by declaring his daughter the new alpha, Alcide Gauthier has brought both fight and fire to his peaceful pack. Rosalie is struggling with her marriage to Renaud, a marriage she believes is nothing more than a piece of paper until she ascends into power.

The relationship between Ren and Rosalie is one of an arranged marriage between two people who barely know one another but one has found himself falling for the woman in charge. Rosalie believes her time with Ren is only temporary until they both realize that fate has something more in the plan for our story line couple. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and supernatural secondary and supporting characters including many references to characters found in the previous story lines. We are introduced to Rosalie’s younger brother Liam, their sister Delphine, and their father Alcide, as well as supernatural healer Caro Mercier, Old Simon, Ren’s brothers rock star Cass St. Amand, Griff and Justin. The requisite evil has many faces including wolf shifter Charles Bouchard, and Rosalie’s ex boyfriend Francois.

A VAMPIRE’S FATE is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, obsession and madness, acceptance and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is edgy and dramatic; the characters are animated and spirited; the romance is fated and seductive.
