REVIEW:I’m going to have to start charging authors for the amount of time I spend in therapy because of these books I read! (mostly kidding) Sierra Simone is back at it again with a new series, and one that has me in a literal chokehold.

Salt Kiss is a fast paced full novel that is marketed in my opinion as a MMF romance. It is not that. The book starts as a MM romance with a erotica BDSM twist, it has plenty of darkness, spice and ki*k, but as I read it, it felt like I was reading the book blurb. Nothing wrong with that though, the plot keeps you engaged, but its the spice that has clutching the book tighter and tiger.

Tristan, Mark and Isolde are a unique story in a world that I don’t think many people explore as much as they should. Tristan’s struggles, the intensity of the characters’ connections were all so vivid. There are parts of the BDSM sections of the book that are very different from other books I have read with it. No spoilers, but I think that played a big part of the storyline. There aren’t many authors that have books with LQBTG characters as the main lead, and this one has that and more.

Sierra Simone has always been a favorite author of mine, and as she keeps putting books out like this, I will continue to be a loyal reader. Mind the trigger warnings before reading this fantastic book!

There is a large ensemble cast of interesting and questionable secondary and supporting characters including Damien’s siblings Darius and Danielle, as well as his assistant Johnathan, and the return of Julie and Donovan Sherman (SIN series.) Darius is on a mission to take control, and is hoping to destroy Damien in the process.

REMEMBERING PASSION is a story of power and control, betrayal and passion, desperation and motivation, family, friendships, relationships and love. The one light in her life is the only reason she is willing to carry on.

The relationship between Inessa and Niccolo is questionable: emotionally abusive, threateningly traumatic directed at a young woman who has suffered at the hands of Bratva since the age of four. Used and abused, Inessa is unable to escape fearing for the life of someone she loves, and in doing so, is blamed for the perpetuation of the inflicted atrocities . Niccolo Caruso’s ‘rescue’ is not out of sympathy or love, but a need for revenge in the face of perceived betrayal against someone he loved. As the story line progresses, the reality of what happened barely registers with our dark story line hero but the true meaning of fear comes with the realization of Inessa’s continued pain. The $ex scenes between Niccolo and Inessa are passionate but intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters many of whom are controversial and problematic. We are reintroduced to Elio and Teagan (Ruthless Arrangement 1)-Teagan is empathetic having suffered a similar fate as our story line heroine: Teagan’s friend Portia; Jade and Rocco (Explosive Union/Made Series 7), Rocco’s brother Dario The requisite evil has many faces. Portia and Dario’s story is next.

RUTHLESS BETRAYAL is a dark story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, abuse and heart break, forgiveness and recovery. The premise is gritty, emotional, haunting and raw; the characters are broken, struggling yet powerful and strong; the romance struggles in the face of ongoing issues of trust, betrayal and pain.

Again, you have been warned about the triggers-they are numerous and graphic.

Fast forward to present day, wherein for the sake of the ‘family’, Reina has been promised to another man, and Amon is about to discover the truth about a family history he knew nothing about. As Amon and Reina each go their separate ways, someone else is making plans behind the scenes to take control from the top.

The world building continues to focus on Amon’s rise to power but throughout most of the story line our couple have been separated by secrets and lies, hatred and love, power and control. We are witness to Reina’s desperate need to protect herself from anyone trying to take her down, and in doing so, she will become the true princess as she fights her way to freedom.

The relationship between Amon and Reina is tempestuous at best. Amon knows Reina will never be his wife but that does not stop him take claiming our heroine as his own. No one else is allowed to touch the woman he loves including the men he once called brothers and friends. The $ex scene is passionate and intense.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Reina’s sister long suffering Phoenix, their father Tomaso; Amon’s parents, his brother Dante; Reina’s friends Isla, Raven and Athena. The dysfunctional family dynamics continues to be questionable; the Cartel is taking aim at everyone involved.

UNFORGIVING QUEEN is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, forgiveness and love, obsession and madness. The premise is dramatic, edgy and intense; the romance is limited as our couple are separated but their need for one another is palpable and strong; the characters are, once again, desperate, determined but powerful and dynamic. UNFORGIVING QUEEN ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

Upon his release Kevin was angry, obnoxious, obstinate and humiliated, so much so, that he directed his anger at everyone else including our story line heroine. Tinsley Hancock did not deserve the vitriol thrown at her by Kevin Wade, but our hero has struggled in the wake of losing everything and everyone he has loved. Making apologies and accepting his fate is only the beginning for Kevin; working for Appalachian STAR is another start but the past is about to resurface, taking aim at the woman with whom he is falling in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Kevin and Tinsley, and the potential fall-out as past demands everything, leaving our heroine unprotected from the sins of Kevin’s past.

The world building continues to focus on the men and women at Appalachian STAR. The man in charge, Patrick ‘Patch’ Scott is about to face a loss he never expected, and in doing so, bring home the family he thought he would never see again. As Kevin works at becoming a new man, the past refuses to let go, sending Kevin into a spiral from which he may never come home.

The relationship between Kevin and Tinsley begins acrimoniously. Kevin is emotionally aggressive towards our story line heroine but Tinsley refuses to back from the man with whom she will fall in love. Several attempts at reconciliation and apologies pull our couple together, a pull that is threatened, once again, by demons from the past. The $ex scenes are provocative and passionate but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word, although only used once, more for shock than value.

The secondary and supporting characters are colorful and energetic. We are reintroduced to all the previous story line couples, as well as the return of Governor Ted and his wife Evie., who have a surprise for Patch and Penny. We are introduced to Patch’s daughter Fiona, and fellow search and rescue assistant Reboot. Reboot’s story is next.

A TWISTED MAN is a story of betrayal, loss, grief and madness; greed and obsession, anger and humiliation, acceptance, forgiveness and love. The premise is haunting, exciting and twisted; the romance is emotional and heart breaking; the characters are broken, determined and healing.

Told from four first person perspectives (Angel, Baron, Cash, Reid) TWISTED FLAMES follows DEA agent Angel DeMarco as she endeavors to prove the Death Cheaters MC is responsible for the  designer drug destroying the vulnerable of South Carolina. Having lost someone close, Angel DeMarco is going off-book, intending to take down the Death Cheaters MC but from the outset the MC is unaware the drug is back on the street, and the DEA Agent gracing their club is about to become fodder in a war between rival MCs. What ensues is the relationship between Angel, and Baron, Cash and Reid, and the attacks that will target our story line heroine.

The world building, once again, focuses on the reverse harem relationship between our leading foursome. Angel battles between head and heart believing the men with whom she is falling in love are responsible for so much death and destruction.Forced to remain with the the Death Cheaters MC, Angel will discover that another MC is responsible including someone working from the inside.

The relationship between Angel and her trio of men begins acrimoniously as Angel is determined to destroy the Death Cheaters MC but it will become readily apparent that Angel has targeted the wrong people, people who are willing to risk their own lives to protect the woman they love. The $ex scenes are aggressive and intense but there is some question of believability in the face of a shooting and the health of our heroine, and the need for $ex while still in recovery 😉 .

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including several members of the Death Cheaters MC, the Black Diamonds MC, as well as several DEA agents .

TWISTED FLAMES is a story of power and control, vengeance and misdirection, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is provocative; the characters are determined and desperate.

Amelia Lang’s life is kind of a mess. She’s stuck living at home with her narcissistic mother. So Amelia does what Amelia does best: She runs away.

After traveling around Europe for three months, she settles on a small Greek island to reset her life and figure out what’s next. But after too much retsina, she gets tricked into marrying James, another guest at the hotel, who is perfectly nice—but perfectly boring. But Amelia is sure her real life is waiting for her back in San Francisco. Is it time for Amelia to return home or could this be the second chance at a new life she didn’t know she wanted?

REVIEW:  THE SECOND CHANCE HOTEL by Sierra Godfrey is a contemporary, adult, story line focusing on two Americans caught up in an accidental marriage while travelling through Greece.

Told from omniscient third person perspective (Amelia) THE SECOND CHANCE HOTEL follows thirty-two year old American Amelia Lang in the aftermath of having her work sabotaged, an aggressive retaliation against her ex boyfriend, being fired from a job she didn’t love, and jumping a plane to Europe to escape the upheaval at home. Three months later, Amelia Lang arrives in Greece, to the same hotel where her parents honeymooned but a hotel that has seen much better days. Meeting one other guest, fellow American James, who was also struggling with his direction in life, resulted in an unplanned and surprise drunken wedding, and the receipt of the hotel as a wedding gift in the wake of the death of the current owner. Unable to speak or understand the language, our couple find themselves struggling with the culture, the rules and regulations of running a hotel, a determined land developer, and battling a greedy member of the hotel owner’s family but with the help of some locals, Amelia and James find success where they least expected.

THE SECOND CHANCE HOTEL reads like a cross between Mama Mia ™ and My Big Fat Greek Wedding™ with all of the craziness of a large extended family you never knew you had. The world building focuses on the marriage between Amelia and James, a marriage that James is often quick to remind Amelia is fake, a marriage that struggles with jealousy, a lack of commitment, and a definite lack of romance. The premise is entertaining but slow to build-in the early chapters there was more telling than showing; the characters are numerous, quirky and sassy; the romance is limited as the couple battle their feelings and emotions; there is one lone $ex scene near the end of the book.
