REVIEW:TALON is the fourth instalment in Nikki Landis’ contemporary, adult DEVIL’S MURDER MC erotic, paranormal romance MC series. This is club enforcer Talon, and pharmacist Gail Holmes’ story line. TALON can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion. There is a slight cross over with the multi-authored RBMC series, and the Tonopah MC.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

SOME BACKGROUND: The Devil’s Murder MC is a group of bikers all with special affinities and abilities related to the crows. Some have the ability to shift; call the crows for assistance, or in the case of Talon, see through the eyes, up close and personal.

Told from several first person perspectives including Talon, Gail, Crow and Undertaker TALON focuses on the protection of Crow’s sister Gail. Upon the murder of his father and club president Rook, Crow would discover the existence of a younger sister, a woman he knew nothing about. Sending Talon to protect the only family he had left, Crow had no idea he was about to bring together a potentially mated pair but someone had targeted our story line heroine, and Talon refused to walk away from the woman with whom he would fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Talon and Gail, and the potential fall-out as the sins of the father take aim at the Devil’s Murder MC.

The world building focuses on the war between Devil’s Murder MC and the Dirty Death MC, a war predicated upon murder and revenge. Crow is desperate to protect the sister he never knew but in doing so would leave open the only woman he would ever love.

The relationship between Talon and Gail begins as an assignment but Talon knows immediately that Gail is their mate. Talon’s internal crow needs to claim and protect the woman they will love but someone else is always waiting to tear them down. For two months Talon stood guard over the woman he would one day call mate but the sins of the father have taken aim at our the Devil’s Murder MC. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and magical secondary and supporting characters including several members of the Devil’s Murder MC, most of whom we met in the previous story lines including Gails’ brother Austin ‘Crow’ Holmes. We are reintroduced to Dirty Death MC president Undertaker, whose ‘wolf’ is determined to destroy the people who destroy his life.

TALON is a story of murder and vengeance, secrets and lies, power and control, fate acceptance, family and love. The premise is gritty, dark, intriguing and dramatic; the romance is fated and seductive; the characters are determined, desperate and powerful. TALON ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

Fast forward to present day wherein Aurora would once again come face to face with man who inspired her hopes and dreams, a man who remembers nothing about meeting our story line heroine.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Mike and Rory) covering approximately one year in the life, CANADIAN BOYFRIEND follows the building relationship between our story line couple. Mike Martin’s hockey career is slowing down but a two year extension meant finding a temporary nanny for his daughter Olivia while his regular nanny took some personal time. Mike never expected to find help with his daughter’s dance instructor Miss Rory, the woman with whom Mike would reluctantly fall in love. As Rory grew closer to both MIke and Olivia, Aurora would realize Mike’s inability to let go of the past was about to destroy the love growing between our story line couple.

The world building focuses on Aurora’s failed ballet career; the dance mom who refused to let her daughter live the life she wanted; and a daughter’s failure to just say no. Meanwhile, we are pulled into the grief and anger that is Mike Martin in the wake of his wife’s death, and the secrets she was hoping to take to the grave. Unable to trust anyone including our story line heroine, Mike’s inability to commit, and constant need to push Aurora away would lead to a decision that made no one happy.

The relationship between Mike and Aurora begins as a friendship predicated upon a professional relationship. Aurora is Olivia’s dance instructor, soon to be temporary nanny, and Mike is a man on a mission to take more than he is willing to give.The back and forth dance between Aurora and Mike is heart breaking; neither one willing to commit but Mike’s mixed messages would become too much for our story line heroine, and in the end she would have to walk away to protect her heart. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

The secondary and supporting characters are charismatic. We are introduced to Mike’s parents, as well as his former in-laws; Aurora’s resentful and embittered mother; fellow dancer Gretchen; hockey player Ivan Zadorov and his wife Lauren; and Mike’s daughter Olivia.

CANADIAN BOYFRIEND is a story of secrets and lies, heart break and grief, acceptance, forgiveness, family and love. The premise is captivating; the very slow building romance is emotional and barely ignites before the end of the story; the characters are broken yet struggling to heal but Mike Martin’s reaction to Aurora’s confession about the past was unbelievable, over the top, and completely unjustified. Mike’s behavior towards Aurora was unacceptable yet our heroine was all too quick to forgive without a heartfelt apology.

REVIEW:TJ: SINS OF THE FATHER is the third instalment in Nicole James’ contemporary, adult EVIL DEAD MC: SECOND GENERATION erotic, MC romance series-a spin off set in the author’s EVIL DEAD MC world, focusing on the next generation of bikers. This is twenty-three year old, tattoo artist Gigi O’Rourke, and MC member TJ Austin’s story line. TJ is the son of Evil Dead MC president Cole Austin, and his wife Angel. TJ can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary

Told from three first person perspectives (TJ, Gigi, Tick) TJ focuses on the acrimonious relationship between our story line couple. Several weeks earlier, Evil Dead MC president Cole Austin, and his brothers took TJ, Billy and Marcus on a run to get their membership tattoos wherein TJ would meet his future in tattoo artist Gigi O’Rourke. A one-night stand ensued in which Gigi believed TJ ghosted, and in the aftermath, our heroine ran away with someone else. Desperate to locate his daughter, Jameson O’Rourke called the Evil Dead MC for help, and TJ would discover that all was not well with the woman with whom he would fall in love. What ensues is the second chance (of a sorts) between Gigi and TJ, and the potential fall-out as the past refuses to let go, taking aim at our story line heroine.

The world building focuses on the search and rescue of Gigi O’Rourke, the secrets that are about to change their lives, and the potential for war with a rival MC.

The relationship between Gigi and TJ begins as a one-night stand in which both believe the other ghosted and ran.TJ thought Gigi may have been the one woman to capture his heart, and Gigi was led to believe that TJ was a biker who used and abused the people in their lives. Gigi’s time with TJ and the Evil Dead MC would prove that everything she was told had been predicated upon a lie, a lie that pulled the couple apart. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate.

We are introduced to Gigi’s father, tattoo artist Jameson O’Rourke, uncles Liam and Max, as well as Billy, Marcus; new recruits Brayden, Rafe and Kyle; and several members of the Evil Dead MC-Cole, Crash, Red Dog, Shades, Green, Wolf, and Jake. The requisite evil has many faces.

TJ: SINS OF THE FATHER is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, misunderstanding and interference, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is edgy, captivating and dramatic; the romance is seductive; the characters are determined, dynamic and energetic.

REVIEW:I’ve not read the original version, so I have nothing to compare it with. But I do like the authors other series (based in an Omegaverse)

This is a why choose book and three book series. I’m aware of the cliffhanger, and I know my triggers…..

Queen of Darkness starts at a fast pace and continues at that pace till the cliffhanger ending….

The main character, Arielle has had such a terrible past and her present isn’t all that great either!! She’s been attacked physically and mentally and remodeled into a role that her father wanted her to be…

Arielle is a vessel for the infernal flame which is potentially the next ruler of the underworld! But it’s not an easy throne to obtain, task after task is thrown at Arielle, and she completes each and every one. Arielle doesn’t enjoy her tasks of killing, but the alternative doesn’t bear thinking about!

And now she’s been assigned the job of killing three archangels, she knows she’s good at her job, so she’s confident it won’t be hard…. So technically she’s on the side of evil? She has to kill to survive (does that make her bad?)

Cassian is an archangel, not sure why he’s in hell. And to be honest, he’s not my favourite character, he was hard to get to know. He taught Arielle to fight, he’s trained her hard, but there are feelings between them, both want more, but both understand they can’t have that! Malakai (Kai) Atlas and Solomon are known as the Trinity. And are on the side of good.

I liked the concept of this book. If angels fall they usually have turned evil, but not in this book. The struggle they face makes you want to read more of them and I couldn’t put the book down until I finished it.

Arielle really struggles with choosing the deaths of Solomon/Atlas/Kai or having the thing she most wants. You want her to choose the three archangels, but you’ve also watched her become more, so I wanted her to have both. But how do you choose between something that you have worked towards your entire life and the freedom that you’ve always wanted, or to finally be seen as the person you are and be loved.

What will be the consequences for choosing one over the other?

Highly recommend this book. And now I’m off to find the next book.

Oh…. And the cliffhanger…. That I did not see coming!!! ?

REVIEW:If you thought the first book was good, then be prepared to be blown away by the next one.

You definitely need to read the first book Queen of Darkness before reading this one….

I’ll try not to give anything away, but this book does carry on from the first. Characters roles are fleshed out and we are given more details about the trinity, Arielle and Cassian.

The action doesn’t stop, and it was hard putting down. There is betrayal/passion and a few twists.

It shows us that good people can do bad things and vice versa. Arielle might have been brought up bad, but that doesn’t mean she wants to continue being bad!

I thought Arielle was a great character, she’s being constantly bombarded and bullied. But she refuses to become the weapon her father wants her to be….

I liked how Solomon/Atlas/Kai sought to forgive her and show her it was ok to want more. They are there for her, and that’s why it’s so hard for her to forgive herself and the actions she chose in the previous book.

I can’t wait to see where the third and final book takes us.

REVIEW: With this being the third and final book in the trilogy, I was keen to see how it would play out. You definitely need to read the books in order before getting to this one.

Nissa (who is Arielle’s sister) now rule’s Hell! How did that happen? (You’ll need to read books one and two) and she’s out to end her sister and the men she’s fallen in love with!

All pieces fall into place and we get answers to questions I had in books one and two. But I did wonder if Arielle could win against her sister ?

The battle for good against evil was really well balanced. But the author never loses sight of the balancing battles with the plot. We get both written really well.

I liked that Arielle doesn’t immediately forgive and forget her past indiscretions, she battles with her conscience throughout the book. And even if the men she is now with have forgiven her, it’s not an easy thing for her to do!

So, the final battle with Nissa. Which way will it go? Will Arielle still choose the right side? Will the Trinity finally bond with her?

I’ve loved all three of these books, but I have to admit this is my favourite.

So if you like your heroine with a battle on her hands and the love of more than one male ? then this trilogy is for you.

A highly recommended read ??
