ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 30, 2024

Runaway bride seeks cover in the last place her politician fiancĆ© and his people will ever think to look ā€“ the small town she grew up in. Now all she needs is a place to stay and a disguise as the bride-to-be of Denver Kings star hockey player.

When Pepper Woods left Hideaway Springs nearly a decade ago, I said good riddance.
The polished homecoming queen and class president was far too ā€œcity girlā€ for my likes.

I couldnā€™t care less that she got engaged to the Presidentā€™s son. I barely even noticed.
But now sheā€™s back.

Racing into the only Inn in town. With a veil tucked in her purse and running shoes on her feet, ranting like itā€™s the end of the world when my father tells her weā€™re sold out.

I should walk away. Iā€™ve got practice in one hour and not going to let Perfect Pepper distract me.

So, how does she end up on the back of my motorcycle on my way to the arena?

And whyā€”of all the insane things I could have doneā€”did I offer to disguise her as my fiancĆ© to throw off Mr. Politics and his search party?

REVIEW:The Runaway is the first installment of a new sports romance series by Rozanne Tully. The Hideaway Springs series I’m guessing is going to revolve on Chase and his brothers and I am here for it. The vibes for this book range from small town romance to second chance love, to one bed, to sporty-suspense, what a world-wind.

Pepper has a past like most do, but her past is riddled with drama and heartache. When she runs out on her wedding, she runs straight back to the one place she always felt safe, but left behind all those years ago. Back to her small town of Hideaway Springs. A perfect name for the place where she wants to do just that; hide away from everything.

Chase is the King of the Denver Kings Hockey Team; the captain to be precise; and a hometown native to Hideaway Springs. With their chance encounter; the pair find themselves drawn to one another, and as happened stance, Chase turns out to be just the person she needs to get her out of her current situation.

Enter into the world of small town drama, hockey and slow burn romance and mystery. Can Chase and Pepper learn to trust one another long enough to get them out of their newest lie? Will Pepper ever come clean? And what about the brothers? Too many questions to not read and find out. Overall the book was interesting and easy to keep up. The main characters had a good, fun chemistry and enough laughs to give a good giggle now and again. I would happily recommend it to other readers.

Crow Talk by Eileen Garvin – a Review

Crow Talk by Eileen Garvin – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Bookbub

Description:
Frankie Oā€™Neill and Anne Ryan would seem to have nothing in common. Frankie is a lonely ornithologist struggling to salvage her dissertation on the spotted owl following a rift with her advisor. Anne is an Irish musician far from home and family, raising her five-year-old, Aiden, who refuses to speak.

At Beauty Bay, a community of summer homes nestled on the shores of June Lake, in the remote foothills of Mount Adams, itā€™s off-season with most houses shuttered for the fall. But Frankie, adrift, returns to the rundown caretakerā€™s cottage that has been in the hardworking O’Neill family for generationsā€”a beloved place and a constant reminder of the family she has lost. And Anne, in the wake of a tragedy that has disrupted her career and silenced her music, has fled to the neighboring house, a showy summer home owned by her husband’s wealthy family.

When Frankie finds an injured baby crow in the forest, little does she realize that the charming bird will bring all three lost soulsā€”Frankie, Anne, and Aidenā€”together on a journey toward hope, healing, and rediscovering joy. Crow Talk is an achingly beautiful story of love, grief, friendship, and the healing power of nature in the darkest of times.

Review:

Crow Talk by Eileen Garvin is a heartwarming standalone novel. This story revolves around two women, Frankie Oā€™Neill and Anne Magnuson, and Anneā€™s young autistic son, Aiden. Frankie returns to Beauty Bay, a remote island on the shores of June Lake, where her family lived in a caretaker cottage; with most houses are closed for the off season. Frankie is determined to work on her masterā€™s thesis, with having a dismissive and non-helpful advisor, as well as still grieving the death of her beloved father. Anne and her husband, Tim are staying for a while at the family mansion on the hill temporarily, with their five-year old son, Aiden; who refuses to speak.Ā  Anne is an Irish musician, and has not been able to resume her music, especially after losing her best friend to an accident.

Frankie rescues a baby crow, and slowly brings him back to health. When Aiden walks into Frankieā€™s house, though he is mute, he feels comfortable with Frankie; especially when Anne finds him in Frankieā€™s place.Ā Ā  Aiden is very interested in the baby crow, who is now called Charlie Crow.Ā  In a short time, Frankie strikes a friendship with Anne, as well as Aiden. The story does revolve around crows, and Frankieā€™s dissertation is part of her study on crows. I really loved Charlie Crow, especially when Frankie fed him, and got him healthy again; and when he was freed, he would talk up on the branches in his own language.

Anne and Tim do everything in their power to keep Aiden content and loving, even though he does not talk. However, Anneā€™s in-laws interfere with their lives, as they constantly try to force him to talk.Ā  When Tim is offered to take over the company, his family decides that Aiden needs to be put away to a facility for those autistic; much to Anneā€™s horror. At first Tim agrees, since he will be very busy with the new job, but when an accident happens, and everyone in town, including Frankie try to find the missing Anne. It was a very emotional time, with Aiden finding his way back. Anne and Frankie both had their own issues, but they ended up with a close friendship.

What follows is a story of three main characters, with anxiety and grieving issues, who in time bond together to help each other heal. A wonderful story of hope, healing, friendship, and the healing power of rediscovering life. I did like all of our three main characters, as well the wonderful secondary characters we meet along the way. Crow Talk was very well written by Eileen Garvin.Ā  This was a heartwarming, poignant, emotional story of friendship and healing.Ā  I suggest you read this beautiful wonderful story.

Only the Brave by Danielle Steel – a Review

Description:
Sophia Alexander, the beautiful daughter of a famous surgeon in Berlin, has had to grow up faster than most young women. When her mother falls ill, Sophia must take charge of her younger sister, Theresa, and look after her father and the household, while also volunteering at his hospital after school. Meanwhile, Hitlerā€™s rise to power and the violence in her very own town have Sophia concerned, but only her mother is willing to share her fears openly.

After tragedy strikes and her mother dies, Sophia becomes increasingly involved in the resistance, attending meetings of dissidents and helping however she can. Circumstances become increasingly dangerous and personal when Sophia assists her sisterā€™s daring escape from Germany,Ā fleeing Germany with her young husband and his family. Her father also begins to resist the regime, secretly healing those hiding from persecution, only to have his hospital burned to the ground. When he is arrested and sent to a concentration camp, Sophia is truly on her own, but more determined than ever to help.

While working as a nurse with the convent nuns, the Sisters of Mercy, Sophia continues her harrowing efforts to transport Jewish children to safety and finds herself under surveillance. As the political tensions rise and the brutal oppression continues, Sophia is undeterred, risking it all, even her own freedom, as she rises to the challenge of helping those in needā€”no matter the cost.

In Only the Brave, Danielle Steel vividly captures the devastating effects of war alongside beautiful moments of compassion and courage.

Review:

Only the Brave by Danielle Steel is a powerful, historical novel about a courageous woman in World War II Germany. The story follows, Sophia Alexander, our heroine and eldest daughter, who at a young age, was faced with her motherā€™s illness, watching over her younger sister, and a war looming. Sophia learns to become a surgical nurse, helping her father, who runs a hospital, where he is the lead surgeon. Though they are not Jewish, both of them secretly try to help runaways. When her mother dies, Sophia steps in and helps her pregnant sister, Theresa and her husband escape to Switzerland.

Sophia works as a nurse with the convent nuns, the Sisters of Mercy, and becomes increasingly involved in the resistance, attending meetings of dissidents and finding ways to help others escape. Her father was asked twice by Hitlerā€™s people to euthanize Jews in camps, and after his last denial, they arrested him and was taken to Dachau, a concentration camp for criminals.Ā  At the convent, Sophia finds an American officer disabled, and treats him back to health; with both of them beginning to have feelings for each other.Ā  She is still determined to do her final vows and remain a nun; the officer leaves after he is recovered.Ā  Sophia will receive a contact from him, notifying her that her father died.

Due to her familyā€™s guilty association with the father and her missing sister, the Naziā€™s arrest her, and she is taken to RavensbrĆ¼ck. While in the concentration camp, she helps perform surgical procedures, and befriends a Nazi officer, who shares food with her, as well as the camp friends. Sophia, and her 4 friends, plan a successful escape from the concentration camp, fleeing to a convent.

Only the Brave is an emotional story filled with heartache, courage, bravery, hope and tragedy. I also really like some of the secondary supporting characters. Ā As the war comes close to an end, Sophia will have to choose to be a nun or choose love. The story captures the devastating effect of war, and Sophia rising to the challenge of risking everything, to save others. Once again, Only the Brave is very well written by Danielle Steel; in a fantastic historical novel.

Make Mine a Marquess by Tina Gabrielle – a Review

Make Mine a Marquess by Tina Gabrielle – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Bookbub

Description:

He lost everything. Now heā€™s come to take it all backā€”along with herā€”in this entrancing romance thatā€™s ideal for fans of Sophie Jordan and Eloisa James.

Everyone thought that the Marquess of Landon was lost at sea. Instead, Robert Kirkian defied all the odds and survived. Now heā€™s returned to London to reclaim his title, his property, and his lands from the foul snake who tried to have him killed: his own cousin. But proper vengeance requires patienceā€”and the perfect weapon. Which is precisely when Robert meets his cousinā€™s charmingly spirited betrothedā€¦

Miss Phoebe Dawson is everything an ambitious gentleman could desire in a wife. Wealthy, exceedingly lovely, and with a sparkle in her blue eyes that could entice even the most reluctant suitor. But Phoebeā€™s come too close to ruinā€”the humiliation of it!ā€”to be fooled by yet another handsome face and silken words . But oh, how he makes her feel. So flustered, so flushedā€¦and so thrillingly alive.

Phoebe knows that love is a foolā€™s game, even if the Marquess does play his hand like an expert. Her reputation can nary afford the tiniest spark of scandal, let alone those slow, deep kisses that leave her breathless. But sheā€™s about to discover the only thing more dangerous than a rogue is a wronged man hellbent on revengeā€¦

Review:

Make Mine a Marquess begins with Robert Kirkian, Marquess of Landon (who typically goes by Landon), peering inside a ballroom as he stands in the shadows outside. The costume ball is the beginning of a weeks long house party that is being hosted by his cousin, Lord Willard, whom he spots quickly. As Landon steps back into the shadows, Lord Willard and a beautiful blond woman, Miss Phoebe Dawson, step out onto the terrace. After a brief chat, Willard goes back inside as Landon approaches Phoebe. Learning that Phoebe was Willardā€™s betrothed, Landon approaches her and the two speak for a brief time before Phoebe heads back inside not knowing to whom she had been speaking. All she knows is that the handsome pirate piqued her interest.

The following day, Landon, along with his friend, Aram, approaches the country estate where the house party is being hosted and lifts the brass knocker. The butler answers the door to discover that the true Marquess has returned home after being lost at sea for five years. In Landonā€™s place, his cousin, Lord Willard, had taken over all that was rightfully Landonā€™s.

Once Landon makes himself known to those in attendance at the house party, it is hard to say who is more shocked: Lord Willard or Phoebe Dawson, albeit for vastly different reasons. What follows is a cat and mouse game as Landon tries to ferret out the truth of his ship going down and exactly why Phoebe intrigues him so.

Make Mine a Marquess is another wonderfully written tale by Ms. Gabrielle. Her stories draw you in from the beginning and the worlds she creates are easy to see in your mindā€™s eye. Landon and Phoebe were beautifully written, and their chemistry leapt off the page. The secondary characters were a bonus that gave the story depth. If you are a fan of regency romance novels, you will never go wrong with one of her books. Well done, Tina Gabrielle! Very well done!

The Lies About Forever by Claudia Burgoa-review tour

The Lies About Forever (Decker Family / Impossibly Possible Duet 1) by Claudia Burgoa-review tour

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Google Play / APPLE BOOKS

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 29, 2024

Lightning can strike the same place more than once.

The first time, it robbed me of my high school sweetheart. Shattering our forever.

I was just sixteen. Too young to understand the medical jargon that meant she was gone. Too naĆÆve to see that forever was nothing but a fairytale.

Now, years later, I meet Ameline. I tried not to fall in love, but it was impossible. She gathered all my broken pieces and put me back together. I knew the only way to keep myself intact was never to love again. But I fell for the illusion of forever once more. At least until I lost her.

Now I’m left questioning everything. What does forever mean when it’s built on a foundation of pain and loss? How do you move on when lightning keeps targeting your heart? Why bother believing in forever when tomorrow isnā€™t guaranteed?

ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢

REVIEW:The Lies About Forever is the first in the Impossibly Possible series by Claudia Burgoa. The blub for this book was the most perfect grab to get my attention, and get my attention it did.

TLAF is a quick emotional read that keeps its reader on their toes through the very end. This book, in what I would guess would have to be at least a duet, is filled with love, family drama and hot smexy men. It does start off with a feeling of reading a young adult/new adult romance as the main characters are in their late teens and early twenties.

The Decker family really starts feeling like family as the story progresses, and the siblings make it what it is. In this book we get Gabriel and Ameline’s story to start, it is fast paced and interesting as the plot unveils itself. So much happens so quickly, but overall the story is easy to keep up with.

“She gathered all my broken pieces and put me back together” This sentence was one of the best parts of this book, and I think the most relatable too. The cliffhanger got me, and wow how ready was I to throw my kindle across the room! (I didn’t) Ms. Author, I would like to politely request book two as soon as possible please.

ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢

REVIEW: SHADOW OF DARK DESIRE is the first instalment in Ashley Lockwoodā€™s contemporary, adult SHADOWS ETERNAL paranormal/fantasy series focusing on ancient vampire Sirus, and Gwendolyn ā€˜Gwenā€™ Moore.

Told from omniscient third person perspectives (Sirus and Gwen) SHADOW OF DARK DESIRE introduces the premise and players in the new authorā€™s Shadows Eternal series. Sirus is an ancient vampire who has been contracted and tasked to find and protect our story line heroine. Gwen Moore is a nobody; without powers or parents, and in this she believes Sirus has mistaken our heroine for someone else but Sirus has been hired to protect Gwen Moore, a woman who is much more than she appears to be. Someone has targeted our story line heroine, she is a prize worthy of chaos and death.

The world building follows several paths including the introduction of numerous characters: Barith (dragon), Levian (mage), Abigail (witch), Bridgette (witch), and Sirusā€™ sister Niah. The requisite evil has many faces. No one knows for sure who or, what is Gwendolyn Moore, and in this, the reader has been left in the dark, like the story line characters.

The relationship between Gwen and Sirus begins as an assignment to find and protect. Our couple find themselves attracted to one another but any attempts to act on their feelings, is brushed off, or broken by our story line hero. There are no $ex scenes, limited romance, and no seduction. The attraction is acknowledged but mostly through internal dialogue and reflection.

SHADOW OF DARK DESIRE is a slow building story line of secrets and lies, power and control, magic and mayhem but in this we learn very little. We have yet to discover the how or the why, or the powers, heritage and probabilities of our story line heroine. The premise is intriguing; the romance is virtually non-existent; the characters are determined and desperate. SHADOW OF DARK DESIRE ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

REVIEW: NOT A CHANCE is the fourth novella in Jade Marshallā€™s contemporary, adult CHANCE BROTHERS, erotic, romance series focusing on the Chance Brothers : Xander, Alistair, Malichai, Lucian and Damian. This is tattoo artist Lucian Chance, and single mother/veterinarian Dr. Cassandra Robinsā€™ story line. NOT A CHANCE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Cassandra and Lucian) NOT A CHANCE follows the quick building relationship between our story line couple. Cassandra is a divorced, single mother and is struggling to do everything on her own. With the help of her neighbor Lucian Chance, Cassandra discovers there is more to life than a crying baby, and a lack of sleep. What ensues is quick building romance and relationship between our story line couple, and the potential fall-out when the past demands a second chance.

The world building is short and sweet. Cassandra is a new mother whose husband chose someone else, while Lucian is a man determined to claim our heroine as his own.

The relationship between Cassandra and Lucian is one of insta-lust to love in a matter of days. Cassandra is battling between head and heart, needing help with a new start in life, and Lucian steps in and steps up when no one else is willing to help. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense.

NOT A CHANCE is a story of family and friendships, acceptance and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is heart warming and encouraging; the characters are animated and sassy; the romance is intimate and insta-love

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 26, 2024

A vampire master on the hunt for a rogue who got away. An infuriating beauty who wonā€™t do as sheā€™s told. When destiny speaks, will immortal hearts survive?

As a pureblood and dark-souled master, I will capture the rogue vampire trying to steal the secrets that we keep. When we find him, no one will stop me from seeking retribution for the destruction theyā€™ve caused. Not the shifters, witches, or even the biggest traitor of all. But when a red-headed beauty gets caught in the crossfire, I must save her from our foes. That proves harder than it should because the fiery female has powers of her own. When she uses her magical gift, the mystery of the stones exposes a secret weā€™ve never known. Battle lines between the witches and vampires become clearly drawn, but that wonā€™t stop me. Whether destiny forbids it or not, I will make the bewitching enchantress my mate.

ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢

REVIEW: MASTER ORADEA is the tenth instalment in Sylvia Blackā€™s contemporary adult MASTERS OF THE CONSULATE dark, paranormal, romance series. This is pureblood vampire Master Oradea, and Natalia Benziniā€™s story line. MASTER ORADEA can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order as there is an ongoing premise throughout, and many of the previous story line characters and couples play a significant role.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Oradea and Natalia) MASTER ORADEA continues to focus on the hunt for a group of rogue vampires and shifters in and around Eastern Europe and the Carpathian Mountains. Natalia is the only sister in the Benzini crime family, and as such, a rogue vampire has targeted our story line heroine. The Benzini crime family blame the vampires for the threat against their only sister but when Master Oradea offers to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love, our heroine sees red until she realizes her life is truly in danger. Natalia Benzini is much more than a mobsterā€™s younger sister, our heroine is about to discover she has her own powers that may have been passed through the maternal family order. As the pureblood vampires find themselves on the defensive against a betrayer, their mates (and witches) must come to terms with the possibility that one of their own may be in league with the rogues and shifters . What ensues is the rapidly building relationship between Natalia and Master Oradea, and the potential fall-out as Natalia discovers the thin line between love and hate between vampires and witches.

The world building continues to focus on the war between pureblood vampires, and the rogue vampires who have partnered with shifters with the same belief system as the old order. The rogue vampires believe that all vampires should be given free rein, free will to feed on whom ever they want, and in doing so, exert their power over the people below.

The relationship between Natalia and Master Oradea is one of immediate attraction. Nataliaā€™s life has been threatened, and in doing so, places her in the very capable hands of our story line hero, a man whose own battles and beliefs with some of the supernatural species threatens his own relationship with our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful and powerful secondary and supporting characters including many of the previous story line couples. We are introduced to Nataliaā€™s siblings: Michael, Marcus, Antonio and Frankie Benzini. The requisite evil has many faces, some more familiar than others.

MASTER ORADEA is a story of betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, obsession and demands, power and control, family and relationships, friendships and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is intriguing and captivating but does very little to advance the series or the ongoing conflict; the romance is seductive; the characters are determined, desperate and dynamic. MASTER ORADEA ends on a bit of a cliff-hanger, you have been warned.

A king of darkness forced to choose between my loyalty to the purebloods or the forbidden soul mate who I have every intention of claiming for my own.

ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢

REVIEW: MASTER ROMANO is the fourth instalment in Sylvia Blackā€™s contemporary, adult MASTER OF THE CONSULATE paranormal, romance series. This is vampire Master Romano, and witch Ravenā€™s story line. MASTER ROMANO can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Romano and Raven) MASTER ROMANO follows the building romance and relationship between our story line couple. Master Romano has been recalled to Europe in the wake of issues of trust. Having lived and worked in Chicago, Master Romano is about to come face to face with the vampireā€™s sworn enemy, a young witch who is hoping to discover the who and what of an ancient vampire but the vampires are at war with the witches, and someone is controlling behind the scenes, someone with enough power to bring together witches, vampires and wolves in a war for power and control. What ensues is the building but forbidden relationship between Raven and Master Romano, and the potential fall-out when Romano is led to believe that Raven is part of a much larger plot to end them all.

The world building continues to focus on the centuries old hatred between vampires and witches. Both have been taught and indoctrinated into believing the other is evil and cruel, and when one of their own seeks to control, Raven is once again caught in the middle between vampires and witches.

The relationship between Raven and Master Romano begins acrimoniously. Romano discovers a possible spy on his estate in the Carpathian Mountains, and Raven is about to uncover the truth about who is controlling the witches and wolves behind the scenes. The $ex scenes are passionate and intimate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and magical secondary and supporting characters including Overmaster Descallia and his mate Lucianna, Luciannaā€™s sister Isala; Ravenā€™s aunt Devora, Master Catteneo, vampires Lucas, Clay, Silver, Terrence and Embry, as well as Ravenā€™s sister Ezra. The requisite evil has many faces.

MASTER ROMANO is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is engaging and intriguing but the stereotypical ā€˜witchā€™ paraphernalia is a bit over the top including brooms, wands and cauldrons; the romance is passionate, the characters are determined and dynamic
