ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 30, 2024

Five… minutes. That’s how long I was supposed to be there. Get in, get out. Job done.

Four… guns pointed at my head. It wasn’t supposed to go down this way.

Three… years old, and she clung to her mum as we sat huddled together on the floor, chained to the pipes on the wall.

Two… choices, when my time finally came. To let it all play out or fight with everything I had.

One… split second that changed the course of my life… forever.

My name is Tyler Evans. They call me The Thief. But on that day, the last thing I expected to become was the hostage.

•••••

REVIEW:It’s funny how in other stories Tyler comes across as a totally different character. He fades into the background, other voices are louder and stronger. But in this book, Tyler is up front and totally the main character.

If you’re new to the series, it’s totally fine to start here, each book stands on its own, and no need to read any of the previous books. But I can assure you like many of her other fans, you don’t want to miss any of the other stories, and after reading this, you’ll probably want to know how the rest of the soldiers meet their women. 😉

So if you’re new, here’s a quick rundown….

The Soldiers of Anarchy are young men who formed a vigilante group, they had a clear vision of what they wanted to do….. Keep the people of Brinton Manor safe from low life scum who would take advantage of them. People knew where to go, and who to talk to if they needed help. They are always one step ahead of the police, and they are careful never to leave any evidence to tie them to anything suspicious.

I loved how we got to meet young Tyler before he became a loyal brother and soldier. He wasn’t a nice teen, he stole, he lied and he didn’t give a damn about other people…. Not until he meets and witnesses the soldiers brand of justice! Slowly Tyler learns that it’s better to help others, it gave him a sense of purpose.

We also get to meet the love of his life at an early age. But it’s more dislike at first sight rather than love 😆

Jess definitely knew of the young lout Tyler. He’s rude/loud and a thief. She makes it clear that he’s scum and will always be scum. But Jess didn’t have all the facts, and Tyler wasn’t going to put her straight.

Moving to the present day, and Tyler is in the bank minding his own business chatting to a cute mum and daughter. When the unthinkable happens….A bank robbery!!

Tyler thinks of nothing but protecting the cute daughter and mum. Placing himself front and Center, he’s going to do everything he can to take on the robbers! It’s only when the mum starts to protest and ask him to be calm, he realises he’s going to do as she asks. He’s fallen for this cute duo and now it’s all he can think of!!

Jess can’t believe she’s in the queue with Tyler! He doesn’t recognise her, but she sure remembers him, she also remembers how she treated him and all the unkind words she said. But before she can jog his memory, the bank is being held up by masked men!! Her priority is keeping her daughter safe!! She doesn’t need a hero getting himself 💀!!

We spend a fair amount of time in the bank. They really aren’t nice guys, shooting because they can. Making horrible threats and even carrying a few out! And when one of the gang member wants to assault Jess, Tyler just about loses it. Making himself a target to keep Jess safe, is going to get him 💀!!

Revenge and finding out who the bank robbers are, has Tyler scouring the manor. Someone has to know who they are. And he’s not above using violence to get their names. His brothers in arms are willing to help Tyler in anyway he needs. If one needs help then they pull together and get it done.

This is the last book in the series. And it’s sad to say goodbye to Brinton Manor and the soldiers. But the good news is we get to have a book full of previous characters.

There are triggers in the book, please read the warning the author gives you.

I’m sad to see the boys go. But I’m happy that they all get a HEA 💜💜💜

A highly recommended read. Grab the book, grab the series, then grab the spin off series (Sandland)

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 2131, 2024

It all comes down to this.

Mari Marcosa’s family—the three men who are her very world—is back together.

She won’t let anything tear them apart. Not again.

May God have mercy on her enemies.

Because she won’t.

•••••

REVIEW:VICIOUS THRONE is the fourth and final instalment in MJ Crouch’s contemporary, adult GILDED EMPIRE dark, erotic, reverse harem, criminal underworld romance series focusing on Mari Marcosa and the three men whom she loves: Greyson Andrews, Dominic Ricci and Nate Black. VICIOUS THRONE should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events and cliff hanger of book three FIERCE MONARCH.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise including graphic violence, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from four first person perspectives (Mari, Greyson, Dominic, Nate) VICIOUS THRONE is the culmination of four instalment in which Mafia queen Mari Marcosa, head of the criminal underworld, is under threat not only from the other leaders but from Cassius ‘Cash’ Beckstrom , a man who is determined to take the throne. As Mari begins to circle the proverbial wagons, she will discover, once again, that betrayal comes from within, and blood doesn’t not always equate to family or trust. As Cash Beckstrom takes aim at the Marcosa family, Mari must secure the families before exacting revenge for the people she lost. As Mari’s world begins to crumble, our heroine will make a deadly alliance to protect the people she loves, and destroy anyone who refuses to follow along. With Greyson, Dominic and Nate by her side, Mari will take back the city, one betrayer at a time.

The world building continues to focus on Mari and the men whom she loves. One marriage on paper but three husbands in her heart, Mari knows the men will die to protect her but Mari isn’t willing to lose anyone she loves. With the help of the other heads of the crime families, Mari and her lovers prepare for war, a war in which not everyone will survive.

The relationship between Mari, and the men whom she loves (Grayson, Dominic and Nate) is one of shared love and respect. Grayson has been, and will always be the first man Mari has ever loved, while Dominic and Nate struggle to regain Mari’s trust. The $ex scenes are intimate, provocative and seductive.

There is a large ensemble cast of powerful and often questionable secondary and supporting characters including the leaders of the crime families, whose own allegiances will be questioned and put to the test. Betrayers will be destroyed; while others find a potential happily ever after in someone else. The author has plans for a spin-off set in the Gilded Empire world.

VICIOUS THRONE is another detailed and complex story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, family and obsession, acceptance and love. Power will be handed down to the next generation but not all people want the power that is theirs to be owned. The premise is fast paced, action paced and captivating; the romance is passionate and enthralling; the characters are desperate, determined and charismatic.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 26, 2024

Sent back to the human world by my brother and the shaman, I found refuge among humans, reconnecting with an old friend who urged me to embrace the life I left behind. Yet, my shelter was short-lived when the alpha, Cannon, captured me once more.

In his pack, I witnessed the stark differences between the pack I came from and the Blackridge Peak Pack. I longed to belong to a community as free as this—all the while resisting the magnetic pull towards the alpha.

Meanwhile, someone who was once close to me could hold the key to unlocking the mysteries of humans hunting shifters. While some truths remained hidden, I feared the answers lay within the heart of my old pack.

As external pressures intensified, threatening to shatter the delicate trust building between Cannon and me, I came to realize that it’s not our bond we should have been resisting.

It’s betrayal.

•••••

REVIEW: WOLF’S BETRAYAL is the second instalment in Eve L Mitchell’s contemporary, adult BLACKBRIDGE PEAK paranormal, romance series focusing on Wolf Pack Alpha Cannon, and his fated mate Kezia. WOLF’S BETRAYAL should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the cliff hanger of book one WOLF’S GAMBIT.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Cannon and Kezia) WOLF’S BETRAYAL picks up after the events of book one. Kezia has been on the run for close to five months in the wake of rejection by her fated mate but participating in the underground MMA fights brings too much attention to our story line heroine, attention that catches the eye of her reluctant mate, the alpha who is determined to destroy what fate pushes together. Meanwhile, Kezia’s original pack is desperate to reclaim their wayward pack member but all is not well when secrets revealed threaten everything Kezia thought she knew, and her future going forward.

The world building continues to focus on the contemptuous and temperamental relationship between our story line couple. Cannon is unable to accept Kezia as his fated mated, and the alpha’s disdain for Kezia is affecting her ability to move on from the past. Secrets revealed show a lifetime of lies, betrayal, jealousy and greed, that continue to threaten everything Kezia thought was the truth.

The relationship continues to be combative and antagonistic. Cannon and Kezia are belligerent and contentious but with Kezia’s approaching heat, Cannon is determined to push away the woman that calls to his wolf. The $ex scenes are limited but intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and questionable secondary and supporting characters, many of whom have ulterior motives, wanting nothing more than to destroy our story line heroine.

WOLF’S BETRAYAL is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, madness and mayhem, rejection and hate. The premise is captivating and intriguing; the characters are desperate, powerful , determined and lost. WOLF’S BETRAYAL ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 31, 2024

Just when I thought I could finally find my place and belong in a pack, fate had other plans. The sting of betrayal cut deep.

As the dust settled from the devastating blow that threatened to shatter the fragile trust between Cannon and me, we both struggled to confront the harsh realities of our world. Fueled by a thirst for revenge, my heart was torn between the hunger for retribution and the longing for reconciliation.

As I prepared to fight for my pack, I knew the stakes had been raised, and everything was on the line. At every turn, danger threatened, and with each step forward, uncertainty hung in the air—not only ahead, but also within.

Knowing I had yet to face my most formidable adversary, I realized it was time to reclaim what was rightfully mine. I wasn’t running anymore.

It was time to fight…and win the ultimate end game.

••••••

REVIEW: WOLF’S ENDGAME is the third and final instalment in Eve L Mitchell’s contemporary, adult THE BLACKRIDGE PACK erotic, paranormal romance series. This is the continuing story of thirty-two year old, Blackridge Pack alpha Cannon and eighteen year old Kezia. WOLF’S ENDGAME should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events and cliff hanger of book two WOLF’S BETRAYAL

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

IF you have not read book two, there may be spoilers in my review.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Kezia and Cannon) WOLF’S ENDGAME picks up after the events of WOLF’S BETRAYAL in which Kezia has been imprisoned by her former Alpha Bale of the Anterrio Pack. Along with her brother Kris, Kezia was raised by a brutal pack leader, and she was about to find herself forced into a mating she did not want. Having left behind her true mate, Kezia struggles with the possibility of losing everything until her inner spirit, takes charge, freeing out heroine to pursue her goals. Meanwhile, Kezia’s mate Cannon is fighting for his life, and with the return of his mate, a powerful magic takes hold, pushing Cannon to uncover the truth about the woman with whom he has fallen in love. Determined to take down the Anterrio Pack, the Blackridge Pack declares war wherein not everyone will survive.

The world building focusing on betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, obsession and madness, power and control. Pack leader Bale is determined to destroy Kezia and everything she represents but in doing so, invokes the wrath of the Blackridge Pack, a wrath from which he will never come back.

The relationship between Kezia and Cannon continues to be combative but Cannon is slowly warming up to his equally powerful mate but Kezia’s power comes from an outside source, and it is this source, that will help Kezia survive the coming war. The $ex scenes are limited but intimate and passionate.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of magical secondary and supporting characters many of whom are questionable at best. Betrayal is met at every opportunity so much so that Alpha Cannon is struggling to trust the members of his own Pack.

WOLF’S ENDGAME is a story of power, betrayal, madness and love. The premise is enthralling and spellbinding; the characters are determined, desperate and dynamic; the romance is fated and powerful.

I’ll make her the most desired woman in NY…but that means letting her go.

The Agency was always going to choose Piper-Lily’s husband.

Her father’s name opened doors, but he needed the money a good match could bring. Turns out, no amount of money was going to fix the Ponzi scheme he was running. Overnight, Piper-Lily went from my most anticipated client to persona non grata.

But she wasn’t willing to let her father’s mistake ruin her future. Not when she could force her way into my office and offer herself as my little project.

She’ll pretend to be my girlfriend until her value is high enough for an auction.

An auction that includes her first time.

So I’ll move the little princess into my apartment. I’ll take her out and show her off, buy her pretty things to wear.

But when I take them off of her later, I’ll have to keep reminding myself that she isn’t mine. That the lessons I offer will be used to please another man. That there’s a limit to what we can do.

No matter how much she begs for more.

REVIEW:CRUEL OFFER is the second instalment in Stella Gray’s contemporary, adult THE AGENCY erotic, romance series focusing on a group of investors who own and manage The Quattour Agency, an agency that arranges high profile marriages between billionaires and young socialites. This is Nathaniel ‘Nate’ Windemere, and nineteen year old university student/dancer Piper-Lily Barclay. CRUEL OFFER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Nate and Piper) CRUEL OFFER follows in the wake of the spiral and arrest of Piper’s father who was found guilty in an elaborate Ponzi scheme that left the family destitute but to Piper’s horror, her father had made an arrangement with the Quattour Agency, to sell her ‘virginity’ to the highest bidder. Desperate to protect someone she loves, Piper approaches the Agency to make a deal, a deal that will destroy her heart. What ensues is the building but contemptuous relationship and arrangement between Piper and Nate, and the fall-out when Nate pushed Piper out of his life.

The world building focuses on Nate’s abuse of power over our story line heroine. Under the guise of training Piper for her future husband, Nate takes control of Piper’s life, a control that would destroy her heart. As Piper begins to fall for Nathaniel Windemere, Nate has other plans for the woman with whom he is falling in love.

The relationship between Nate and Piper begins as a contract; an arrangement in which, at the end, Piper would receive millions when Nate auctions off our story line heroine but Nate never expected to fall for our story line heroine, the woman who would find herself in the face of losing it all. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative .

The secondary and supporting characters are charismatic and dynamic. We are introduced to Piper’s parents, her best friend Chloe, as well as Nate’s parents, and his sister Eliza. Theo, Becker, and Sebastian Argos return as Nathaniel’s business partners.

CRUEL OFFER is a story of power and control, betrayal and trust, secrets and lies, forgiveness and acceptance, understanding and love. The premise is emotional and heart breaking; the romance is seductive; the characters are broken and desperate.

My Heart Still Beats by Helen Hardt-review tour

My Heart Still Beats by Helen Hardt-review tour

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Google Play / Chapters Indigo Paper /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 28, 2024

Some days I can almost see the person I used to be. See the version of myself that felt joy, even passion. But she’s gone…just out of reach.

Life moves on for everyone else, though, and as my best friend’s maid-of-honor, I have a bachelorette party to plan—in Jamaica, no less. And that means working side by side with the best man: Benjamin Black.

Billionaire. Workaholic. Ultimate bachelor. The perfect catch for any woman—unless she’s lost her sense of self.

Apparently my body hasn’t gotten the memo. Because from the second we meet, something begins stirring, warming my blood.

And when our hands touch, it’s a heady reminder that even if I feel numb, my heart still beats.

He’s nothing like I thought. Every moment with him unshackles a little more of my fears, cracks another layer of ice.

But I should be afraid—and so should he. Because the past never lets go so easily.

Trigger Warning: My Heart Still Beats is a dark, emotional romance with a happy ending. However, the story includes elements that might not be suitable for all readers. Sexual assault, physical assault, rape, child molestation, suicidal thoughts, suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, PTSD, panic attacks, murder, and blood are shown in the novel. Readers who may be sensitive to these elements, please take note.

•••••

REVIEW:Check the triggers on this one folks. For readers that have anxiety/depression, this is not a book I would recommend reading unless you have your person ready and available to you. That being said, Helen Hardt introduces a new book in My Heart Still Beats; a lengthy, intense emotional journey about self growth and forgiveness. In one word, traumatic.

There is much to unpack in this book. The story and plot really focus on people’s connections, how to heal and find those people in your life that are meant to be in it, to help you even when you don’t know what you need, when connection is more important than touch. The author is more than amazing in this book and the connections she draws with her characters, even more so with Ben. He is so different at the end of the book than when his journey first starts.

The plot to the story (while hard for me to read) was easy to keep up with, even if it was heartbreaking, the family ties, the lies, the grief and of course the end, where love begins to heal all wounds. My Heart Still Beats is raw and emotional. As a long time reader and fan of this author, this new standalone book is one that absolutely broke my heart, healed it, and gave me a little hope back to humanity all in one sitting.

A Good Life by Virginie Grimaldi – a Review

A Good Life by Virginie Grimaldi – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM

Description:
Full of humor and compassion, a profound exploration of sisterhood, healing, and the ineffable beauty of life from France‘s most beloved contemporary novelist

Laughter, tears, the transformative power of love, unexpected revelations, and striking natural these are the ingredients that combine to make best-selling author Virginie Grimaldi’s American debut the feel-good read of 2024. Grimaldi is among France’s top ten contemporary authors and her uplifting, unputdownable literary novels have quickly garnered her millions of adoring fans. This, her American debut, is among her most delicately wrought and emotionally compelling novels to date.

Emma and Agathe are sisters. They were thick as thieves when they were young but have always been as different as can be. Agathe, the younger sister, is disorderly, chaotic, and fiery. Five years older, Emma has always been the more mature sister, the defender, the protector, the worrier. Their relationship as adults is scarred by a tragedy that transformed their happy, ordinary childhoods into something much more complex and challenging. For a long time, Emma hasn’t wanted to be involved in Agathe’s life. But then they must return together to the Basque Country, to the house of their adored grandmother, to empty out her home and in the process to reconcile, to remember, and to pour out what is in their hearts.

The story alternates between Agathe and Emma’s childhood and their present day, with everything in between, and readers see them as young girls, teenagers, young women, mothers, wives, partners, individuals, sisters. This is a story that encompasses whole lives, complex lives, women’s lives, asking all the while how the scars of the past can be healed and what, in the end, is a good life.

Review:

A Good Life by Virginie Grimaldi is a family-oriented story that centers around two sisters, Emma and Agathe.  Virginie Grimaldi is a famous author from France, and this book was brought into America, as her debut. Both sisters as young children were close, but as they grew older, things slowly fell apart. Emma is the oldest, with Agathe being 5 years younger. A Good Life is told via flashbacks, from the each of the girl’s earlier and present years.

Emma is the mature sister, always protecting and defending her, especially Agathe’s wild and reckless escapades. Agathe has always had many ups and downs, with Emma dedicated her life to protecting her younger sister, sheltering her from the worst of their mother’s fits of anger.  Emma always made sure during the summers to spend most of their time with their beloved grandmother’s house near the ocean, giving them a reprieve.

After many years being distant, their beloved grandmother passed away, and they decide to meet and help clean up their grandmother’s house, as it has been sold. In the process, the memories of their childhood help them reconcile and bring them closer, with all the scars of the past.  They enjoy that one week vacation, enjoying the town and ocean, and discover all that they lost; with a new bond bringing them back.

A Good Life is an emotional story of love, heartbreak, grief, mental health and the ins/outs of their dysfunctional family. The book continually alternates between both Emma and Agathe in the past and present, as we learn everything about them during their troubled days, as their younger selves, grown women and sisters.  A Good Life was very well written by Virginie Grimaldi

Description:
Lark Smith has always had a plan for her life: find a fantastic guy, create a marriage as blissful as her parents’, pop out a couple of kids and build a rewarding career as an oncologist.

Things aren’t going so well.

For one, the guy didn’t work out. Theoretically, she’d love to find someone else, but it hasn’t happened. Two, she’s just been transferred out of oncology for being too emotional. (Is it her fault she’s a weeper?) Three, her parents just split up.

Deviating from the plan was…well, not in the plan. A potential solution comes from the foul-tempered and renowned surgeon Lorenzo Santini (aka Dr. Satan). He needs a date this summer for his sister’s wedding. His ancient Noni wants to see him settled. In exchange, he could make a few introductions and maybe get Lark back into the field of her choice.

As a sucker for old people and fake relationships, Lark agrees. Teeny problem—she instantly falls for his big, warm family. Especially his estranged brother.

Meanwhile, Lark’s mom has moved in with Lark’s flamboyant landlady, Joy, and an unlikely friendship blossoms. The three women have a long summer and a big beautiful house on the ocean to figure out what’s next…and quite possibly learn that the best things in life aren’t planned at all.

Review:

Look on the Bright Side by Kristan Higgins is a sweet family oriented standalone novel. The story revolves around three women POV’s, but Lark Smith (our heroine) takes the lead; with Ellie, her mother and Joy, a wealthy friend sharing some of the stories. We meet Lark, who is a doctor resident in Oncology, but since she gets too emotional with her patients, she is sent to work in ER (emergency room). Lark is very intelligent, and her coworkers in the emergency room, respect her knowledge, and she builds a friendship with them; even though she wants to return to oncology. To her surprise, Dr. Santini (who is known as Dr. Satan), offers her a deal, paying her money, to help Lark attend his families upcoming events, including his sister’s wedding; as she would be his fake girlfriend.   He also promises her that he can get her contacts to return to oncology when it’s over.

Dr. Satan (Lorenzo) has a terrible reputation at the hospital, as he is rude, obnoxious, arrogant, with no one liking him. Lark is strong and always answers back at Lorenzo’s nasty comments. But when she meets his family, and is shocked how likeable they all are; in a short time. she fits in with them, having a great relationship with them all (except Lorenzo).  Lark quickly finds herself being attracted to Dante, Lorenzo’s younger brother, who is sweet and caring. Can she continue to keep her fake dating secret?

The other two storylines revolve around Ellie and Joy. Ellie, discovers her husband might be cheating on her, and decides to move out and ends up staying with Joy, as Lark is also staying at Joy’s huge house, by the beach.  Ellie and Joy develop a wonderful friendship, with each helping each other. Ellie has to deal with her husband and learn more about what she thought was betrayal. Flamboyant Joy, became wealthy due to ex-husbands, is also obsessed with plastic surgery over the years, making herself look pretty.  She is thrilled to have both Ellie and Lark staying at her place, especially since she was lonely after her brother’s death. Joy will find herself a wonderful job at a memory care place livening up the patients, and is thrilled to throw parties for both Ellie/Lark’s family and the Santini family. The three women have a wonderful summer together in helping each of them discover what is next.

There are emotional flashbacks with Lark and her deceased love from years before.  She loved Justin since they were 13 years old, and when he had leukemia, she was also there for him, and in time he was able to recover. Years later, when they were planning their wedding, the leukemia returned, but again he was able to recover; with something else effecting his body, and he died.  Lark has never gotten over Justin’ death, and when a memory flashes, she discovers that Dante was the fireman who helped her get to the hospital, to see Justin before he died. The back story revolving around Justin and Lark was very sad and emotional.

What follows is a heartwarming story of love, friendship, sadness, tragedy and life changing issues.  Lark was an amazing and passionate heroine, whom I loved throughout the story.  I was happy that she would find love in the sweet epilogue. Look on the Bright Side was a fantastic story, that was emotional, captivating, trauma, and romantic.  Look on the Bright Side was so very well written by Kristan Higgins.  You need to be reading this book.
