Told from first person perspective (Sybil) BIKER BRIDE follows in the aftermath of a fund raising auction where Sybil ‘Psycho’ James sold herself to the highest bidder. Enter crime boss Vincent Mancini. Vincent needs a wife to retain his position within the family’s criminal empire, and Sybil is his target, the woman with whom he will fall in love but all is not well in both Sybil and Vince’s lives,and Sybil is about to face the reality of her new life, as a prisoner of the mob. What ensues is the building but unconventional relationship between Sybil and Vince, and the fall-out as Sybil finds herself a prisoner of a very powerful man.

The relationship between Sybil and Vince begins as an arrangement; a fake engagement and marriage that will become all too real, as Sybil discovers all is not as it appears to be. Over the days and weeks, Sybil will begin to spiral, the secrets and lies affecting both her physical and mental well being, as she becomes a prisoner in a gilded cage, but a prisoner, none the less. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense but I felt no palpable sexual attraction-Vince’s behavior was robotic in nature.

The secondary and supporting characters include several members of the Hell on Heelz all female MC, as well as the introduction the Mancini family of powerful, questionable and manipulative people

BIKER BRIDE is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, manipulation and domination. The premise is dramatic and dark; the characters are atypical and unique; the romance is non-existent, their entire relationship is predicated upon a lie. REVIEW:A second chance at romance it’s not one of my favourite genres, but reading the blurb had me reaching for my kindle to read it. And I’m glad I did…..

They were going to be together forever, that’s what Laird and Poppy had planned, until fate crashed and burned!! Leaving Laird waiting by the tour bus……

A bitter and empty Laird goes through the emotions (all except love, that’s firmly left him!) and for two years he never forgot the girl with the matching tattoo!

Poppy wanted to go with Laird, and maybe if she’s gone with him there and then, she wouldn’t have gotten into a car crash! Waking with amnesia, Poppy forgot all about the love waiting for her…..

We skip two years…..

Fate brings the couple back together, Laird wants to know why she didn’t return to him? When he finds out she has amnesia and that’s why she didn’t come with him. Laird sets about making Poppy fall for him all over again. But he’s facing a dilemma! Does he blurt out they knew each other before, or does he let nature take its course?

Such an amazing read. I fell in love with Laird from almost the beginning (Poppy took a little longer!)

It’s a little slow burn at first, but we definitely get the heat as the book progresses 😉

Poppy is a chef to the stars, Laird is hiding from the world in a cabin. And when they meet, Laird is angry that Poppy doesn’t remember him! They argue, she leaves, he rescues her, they have a tentative truce!

Fate brings the couple back together, Laird wants to know why she didn’t return to him? When he finds out she has amnesia and that’s why she didn’t come with him. Laird sets about making Poppy fall for him all over again. But he’s facing a dilemma! Does he blurt out they knew each other before, or does he let nature take its course?

As time goes by, Poppy gets snippets of her past! Will she remember what they had together?

Review

Broken by Kaitlyn Legaspi is the 4th book in her Card Holders series.  It’s been a while since I read the previous books. But once I dived into Neela’s world, I soon became engrossed…You definitely need to read in order as it’s an ongoing story.

It’s paced pretty well, we get a little back history, but not too much (that’s why I recommend reading in order.) Action is written really well, and we have the side characters that just add to the story. We have our love interest, but it’s not at the forefront, the story is Neela’s up and coming battle (with herself and what lies ahead.)

It’s really hard not to just spill out the story, but that ruins it for others, so I’ll just give my thoughts on the book and try really hard not to give away anything 😃

Neela is still fighting, surviving and trying to live as normal a life as possible. But losing loved ones take its toll, it takes a piece of you that you never get back 😔 she has people she cares about, but through the books Neela has lost people she truly loved. Her powers grow ever stronger, and a side that we don’t expect appears 🤐 and Neela finds herself scared and worried for the people around her!

And the ending…. Although not a cliffhanger in anyway, it does make me sad for Neela!

What a great addition to this series. I’m thinking of going back to the beginning to reacquaint myself with it all, as I’d forgotten how good they were. A highly recommended read. I’m fact I’d recommend the whole series. And at the end of the book, we find out there is another one to look forward to 😁

REVIEW: THE LUMBERJACK is the fourth and final instalment in Susan Stoker’s contemporary, adult GAME OF CHANCE romantic suspense series focusing on a group of former US Special Forces soldiers and former POWs (Callum ‘Cal’ Redman, Kendrick ‘Bob’ Evans, Jackson ‘JJ’ Justice, Riggs ‘Chappy’ Chapman) who own and operate a tree service, search and rescue, Appalachian Trail maintenance company called Jack’s Lumber. This is thirty-nine year old Jackson ‘JJ’ Justice, and forty-six year old, office manager April Hoffman’s story line. THE LUMBERJACK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. There is a slight cross-over using a number of characters from several of Susan Stoker’s interconnected series.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Jack and April) THE LUMBERJACK follows in the aftermath of a car accident that sent our heroine to the hospital. Struggling with severe headaches and the after affects of the accident, April temporarily moves in with her boss Jackson Justice, the man with whom April will fall in love but someone is taking aim at the close knit group of former US Special Forces soldiers, and the women they love will pay the price. What ensues is the building relationship between Jack and April, and the potential fall-out as the women fall victim to a man demanding revenge for sins of the past.

The world building follows several paths including the building relationship between our story line couple. Jackson Justice has lusted after April Hoffman for as long as he can remember but Jack’s attitude often left April confused, and in this, April is willing to walk away to allow Jack to reconsider his choices going forward but the past is about to take aim at the women involved with Jackson and his friends, threatening the lives of everyone, a threat meant to kill them all.

The relationship between Jack and April is a friends to lovers in which Jack declares himself guardian and protector of our story line heroine. An accident that may have been anything but finds Jack declaring his love for the woman in his life, a woman who will pay the price for another man’s sins. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of fantastic and familiar secondary and supporting characters including all of the previous story line couples, as well as several search and rescue members, former soldiers, and assassins from the author’s interconnected series.

THE LUMBERJACK is a story of obsession, vengeance and madness, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is dramatic, edgy and emotional; the romance is seductive; the characters are desperate, dynamic and professional.
