ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 10, 2024

This old flame just might set them on fire.

Conceited, unattainable, and downright delicious, renowned Michelin-starred chef Ambrose Casablancas has one passion in life—food.

Women are a distraction, and he doesn’t do those. Especially Cal Litvin, his baby sister’s best friend. Her entire existence is a complication; she’s awkward, eccentric, infuriating…

And, much to his chagrin, hotter than his kitchen.

Ambrose has a lot on his plate: a new restaurant to open, a multimillion-dollar property deal to execute, and a violent stalker to tame.

Then Cal shows up at his doorstep, looking for both a job and salvation after their messy goodbye. His resolve, like his patience, is ebbing each day she works at his restaurant.

Because Cal is no longer a doe-eyed girl.

Now? She’s the woman he’ll do anything to conquer.

***

Quirky, compassionate ball of sunshine Calla Litvin can’t catch a break, and not just because she swore off running.

Back in her hometown to nurse her mother’s broken heart after losing her father, she finds herself jobless, hopeless, and penniless. She hopes to rekindle her friendship with her former BFF, but Dylan is attached at the hip to her cruel brother—the one Cal’s been secretly crushing on since middle school.

Falling for the bad boy the second time around would be a mistake of gargantuan proportions.

Too bad she’s always been clumsy.

REVIEW: TRULY MADLY DEEPLY is the first instalment in LJ Shen’s contemporary, adult FORBIDDEN LOVE erotic, romance series. This is twenty-seven year old chef Ambrose ‘Row’ Casablancas, and twenty-three year old Calla ‘Cal” Litvin’s story line.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Row and Cal) and text messaging, TRULY MADLY DEEPLY focuses on the enemies to friends to lovers relationship between twenty-seven year old Ambrose ‘Row’ Casablancas, and twenty-three year old Calla ‘Cal” Litvin. Calla Litvin had been in love with her best friend’s brother for as long as she can remember. At seventeen, before leaving for college, Calla Litvin begged Row Casablancas to take her virginity but she lost more than her innocence in the aftermath. Fast forward to present day, Ambrose ‘Row’ Casablancas has returned to his hometown of Staindrop, to open a new upscale restaurant, and complete a multi-million dollar property deal that should have aided the stagnant town where he was born but Row is now considered the town pariah, and his only ally is the woman he has loved all of his live. Enter Calla Litvin. Calla is the odd girl, having lived on the outside most of her life but Calla has secrets, dark and lonely secrets, and with the death of her father, Calla has returned home, never expecting to see the man who destroyed her heart. As his restaurant business explodes, Row’s reputation as an arrogant, abusive hard-a$$ pushes people out of his life and his restaurant. Desperate for help, Row hires Cal as a temporary server, a position that places Cal in the direct line of fire. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Row and Cal, and the potential fall-out as Row is targeted by the people of his hometown, and his time in Staindrop has come to an end.

The world building follows several pathways including the heart breaking and dark past for both Calla and Row. The town’s history of bullying their own continues into present , as Row and his restaurant are targeted. Reconnecting with Row and his sister Dylan was difficult upon her return to Straindrop. Old memories and heart break are at the forefront of Cal’s mind whenever our heroine looked beyond the present.

The relationship between Cal and Row is an enemies to friends to lovers. Calla Litvin has been in love with Row for as long as she can remember but one fateful night ended a lifelong friendship, destroyed a young heart, and pushed Calla from the town and the people she loved. Calla is a bit of an oddball, a little left of center, eccentric in her ways, likely on the spectrum of behavior and oddities. Ambrose Casablancas had his own secrets, a past mired in darkness, yet the only light in his life is the woman he pushed away years before. Falling for Calla was easy, letting her go would be hard. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my romance story lines.

There is a large ensemble cast of both likable and unlikable secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced Row’s best friend and business manager Rhyland Coltridge, his sister Dylan Casablancas, professional soccer player Kieran Carmichael; town mayor Allison Murray; both Cal and Row’s widowed mothers; property developer and investor Tate Blackthorn; and a town filled with angry, annoying and destructive residents.

TRULY MADLY DEEPLY is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, betrayal and vengeance, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is edgy, dramatic, tragic with some light moments sprinkled in between; the romance is impassioned, spicy and erotic; the characters are sassy, quirky and determined.

Age EighteenIf someone told me an hour ago that I would be pinned beneath Row Casablancas, partially naked and writhing against the hood of his black Mustang, I would have guessed he’d gotten himself into some kind of trouble and had resorted to drugging me and harvesting my organs to make a quick buck.

Row didn’t hate me. He didn’t love me either. I would guesstimate his feelings toward me were somewhere on the spectrum between look at this adorable little moron and shit, I forgot she existed.

I was his baby sister’s best friend. The awkward klutz who suffered from bouts of verbal diarrhea and extremely questionable fashion sense.

Fine. I didn’t suffer from the questionable fashion sense. I owned it. Sue me for celebrating my individuality.

I always figured he liked me in the same way people liked puppies—because they were cute, dumb, and adored the ground you walked on, even if you were a terrible human who peeled clementines in public places. But I digress.

Harboring a small, totally manageable crush on your best friend’s brother was a cliché. However, I was obsessed with the nineties, an era that celebrated true and tested formulas. Ergo, pining after him fit me like a tattoo choker.

In my defense, Row made it impossible for my adolescent self not to lust after him on account of him: 1) being six foot four inches of lithe, corded muscles, having floppy onyx hair, and a jawline stronger than my lifetime of New Year’s resolutions combined, and 2) having the entire bad-boy vibe down to a T—including a sports car, athletic genes, witty one-liners, a dimpled smirk, and unlaced combat boots with tight-fitting jeans stacked upon them.

To sum it up, he was a morally gray hunk who was a total red flag—my age group’s favorite color scheme. So, yes. Of course I, too, wanted to be ruined by Dylan Casablancas’s older brother. Who didn’t? Our entire high school worshipped at his altar. Fenna McGee once even made a sticker that said, I’m not saying that Row Casablancas and God are the same person—but have you ever seen them in the same room?

Point was, Row’s tongue was currently shoved so far down my throat, we were playing tonsil hockey. His ballistic missile–sized erection pressed against the buttons of my yellow plaid skirt, threatening to snap them and send them past the Milky Way. And all I could think about was how I was doing Dylan dirty.

Bile coated the back of my throat. Dylan hated it when her friends fell at her brother’s feet. She’d make gagging sounds every time someone we knew flirted with him, which made what was happening right now completely inexcusable. But I was semi-drunk, exceptionally raw, and uncharacteristically reckless. Plus…Dylan was so used to seeing Row ruining her friends like it was an Olympic sport, what was adding one more into the mix?

I was also a people pleaser, and I really wanted to please Row. So I made complimentary moaning sounds I’d learned from the Pornhub University of Fake Orgasms. This included head lolling, enthusiastic panting, and girly gasps.

Row took this as an invitation to move to second base, coiling his calloused fingers around the front of my throat and flattening me against the hood of his car. The hood still exuded heat from the engine, and I wondered if I’d sport second-degree burns tomorrow morning. My butt cheeks were squeezed together to accommodate his lean waist between my thighs, my heartbeat thrashing against my eyelids like an angry woodpecker.

We were parked on a rocky cliff overlooking the glacial-tipped Maine mountains. The ocean stretched like a tight, black sheet across the horizon. The briny scent floated into my nostrils, and goose bumps coated my arms.

It felt so good and yet so wrong, I didn’t know whether to burst into giggles, tears, or flames.

Stop this right now, Cal. Dylan is going to strangle you.

Actually, my BFF was more the type to steal my clothes and go on a killing spree. Dylan Casablancas was creative, innovative, and delightfully hilarious. I loved her so much. She deserved better than this.

Row’s hand snuck under my beige turtleneck and my yellow plaid vest, cupping my left boob as his mouth trailed along my jaw, leaving wet, hot kisses in its wake, making my spine tingle. His lips were sinful, his tousled hair as soft as silk between my greedy fingers.

Dammit, I’m only human.

We were grinding against each other, and I was in awe of how different his body was from mine. Hard to my soft. Tall to my short. Tan to my pale. He was doing everything right. The way he swirled his tongue over my sensitive spots, drawing happy whimpers from me. The way his thumb rubbed the tip of my hard nipple, making it tingly and sensitive and desperate for more, felt like some kind of dark magic.

“Fuck, you’re beautiful.”

What a terribly un-asshole-y thing to say. Then again, Row never directed his infinite wrath at me. Probably because I was like a sister to Dylan.

There was a bonfire happening in the moorlands below the cliff where we were parked. A farewell bash for us seniors before we all scattered away to our respective colleges. Row had dropped by to pick Dylan up—he was in town for a couple weeks, visiting from his fancy culinary school in Paris—but Dylan had wanted to stick around a little longer. Meanwhile, I’d wanted to go home, eat pickled eggs, and binge-watch Riverdale.

Yet we’d ended up on the notorious Make-out Mountain, where couples went to lose their virginity, and sometimes lacy thongs, without being interrupted.

Row and I were friendly. He was always protective of me. I’d asked him to drive up to the cliff so I could take one last look at the ocean before I moved to New York. I definitely hadn’t planned on attacking his mouth with mine like a rabid raccoon when we’d both stared at the yolky sun crawling up the sky.

Yet…it had happened. It had happened, and now I was in his arms, the cold recipient of his kisses and licks and roaming hands. I froze, yet again feeling guilty about Dylan. She’d forgive me, surely. It wasn’t like he was her boyfriend.

Row ripped his mouth from my skin, staring me down through a disapproving scowl. “Are you still alive?”

“Hmm-mm.”

“Should I stop?” His fingers immediately loosened around my waist and back, and I suddenly remembered what had made me want to have sex with him in the first place.

“No!” I wrenched him closer and pressed my lips to his, doubling down on that rabid-wildlife conduct. “You…you can’t stop.” But maybe he should? My mind and my body were definitely not in sync.

“Sure I can.” His mouth moved over mine again, his voice velvet and smoke. “Consent is a real thing. Google it.” I was blushing so furiously, it was a medical miracle my head didn’t explode. His mouth grinned against mine, teeth grazing my bottom lip. “Fuck. You’re so sweet. So innocent. I want to eat you out.”

“I want to eat you out too.” Wait, what? That didn’t sound right. Having social anxiety and literally zero filters when I was nervous sucked.

“Do you, now?” I could hear the smirk in his smartass tone.

Dammit, Cal. “Not, in, like, a cannibalistic way—”

“Show me, then. Use plenty of examples. I’m a slow learner.” He growled, deepening our kiss. Our teeth brushed together, and a wave of pleasure rolled along my spine. My skin was cold, but my insides were ablaze. I pushed my palm against his groin over his black jeans. I couldn’t believe I was touching him, really touching the guy who literally made women melt into a pool of hormones just by glancing at him.

He ripped his mouth from mine, eyeballing me hard. We stared at each other, panting. I had no idea what I was doing.

REVIEW:  EMBRACING THE CHANGE is the sixth instalment in Kristen Ashley’s contemporary, adult RIVER RAIN romance series. This is socialite and heiress Nora Ellington, and billionaire Jamie Oakley’s story line. EMBRACING THE CHANGE should not be read as a stand alone as many of the references, and previous story line couples figure prominently throughout the current time line. Jamie is the father of Judge Oakley (Chasing Serenity), and Nora is best friends with Mika (Making the Match)

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be mild triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from first person perspective (Nora), and omniscient third person (Jamie) EMBRACING THE CHANGE follows several years in the life of our story line couple. Jamie Oakley has loved and lost twice, both relationships ending tragically but he gained a daughter and a son. Nora Ellington, heiress and socialite’s only marriage was fraught with deceit and betrayal but her three, now adult children, are the light of her life. Throughout the years, Nora has rescued and aided Jamie as his world began to spiral but now it was their turn together to form a union between their two families, and everything it entailed.

The world building follows several pathways including all of Nora and Jamie’s adult children scheming to get their parents together. From an yacht excursion to a new grandchild, to blackmail, family secrets and the past refusing to let go, Jamie and Nora must weather the storm together, in an effort to finally find peace and their own happily ever after.

The relationship between Nora and Jamie had been building for several years but both had been married (Jamie twice), and although not necessarily happy, but happy for now. Nora is the quintessential socialite, almost an over the top caricature of wealth and money (calling everyone ‘darling’), designer labels and the ultimate friendship with a support group of four gay men known as the G-force.Jamie is a businessman whose own family tree deviates between the branches, and in this, our hero must contend with the reality of what was, and what may never be. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate.

There is a large ensemble cast of energetic and charismatic secondary and supporting characters including Jamie’s son Judge (Chloe) and daughter Dru; Nora’s children Allegra and Darryn, Nico and Felice, Valentine and Archie; Nora’s ex Roland Castellini, as well as several cameos and mentions of previous story line couples and characters.

EMBRACING THE CHANGE is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, greed and jealousy, family and friendships, relationships and love. The character driven premise is dramatic and thought-provoking; the romance is seductive and fated; the character are dynamic, sassy and determined.

His fork clattered on his plate, the sudden sound surprising me so much, I gave a slight jump as Jamie turned fully to me.
“Right, we’re here.”
Oh dear.
I wasn’t sure what “here” meant.
But I was sure I didn’t want to be there.
He carried on. “I know you don’t want to talk about it, and I’ll give you more time, but I do want to talk about it. However, for now I’ll just say, I can have you as I’ll allow myself to have you.”
As he’ll allow himself to have me?
What on earth did that mean?
“And in so doing, I have you,” Jamie continued. “You mean something to me. You’re mine. You’re a part of my life. You’re a member of my family. And I think you know I take care of those I love, Nora. That being the man I am, I cannot countenance this jackass annoying you or taking your time or infiltrating your life in any way that does not involve the children you share. Am I being clear?”
You’re mine.
I take care of those I love.

“Nora,” he called. “Am I being clear?”

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn’t taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

ABOUT THE BOOK : Release Date September 10, 2024

He’s the royal bodyguard. She’s the royal nanny. The annoyingly hot attraction that simmers between them—that’s a royal pain.

James Hunter has made a tactical error. His new role as protection officer to Prince Magnus of Norway was supposed to be an exciting change. Instead he’s marooned on a royal estate in the middle of nowhere charged with chasing after demon children and dodging the machinations of meddling staff. And the crowning jewel in this little drama—the children’s nanny is none other than Laila Bruset. The woman whose heart he broke. The woman who still holds his.

When Laila took the job as a nanny for the Norwegian royal children in order to be closer to her ailing grandmother in Oslo, the last thing she expected was to have her life turned upside down—again. But as much as James gets on her nerves, he’s also getting under her skin, and the tension between them sizzles just as devastatingly as before.

As undeniable sparks turn James and Laila’s battle royal into a more serious game of hearts, nanny and bodyguard will have to decide just how much they’re willing to risk for a second chance at love.

•••••

REVIEW:THE ROYALS UPSTAIRS by Karina Halle is a stand alone, contemporary, adult, erotic, romance story line set in the author’s Nordic Royals world. This is thirty-four year old, royal body guard James Hunters, and twenty-eight year old Norwegian nanny Laila Bruset’s story line. THE ROYALS UPSTAIRS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Laila and James work for Crown Prince Magnus and his wife Princess Isabella (THE WILD HEIR).

Told from dual first person perspectives (Laila and James) using present day and memories from the past, THE ROYALS UPSTAIRS follows the second chance relationship between our story line couple. Scotsman James Hunter has worked for several European families, and in doing so met royal nanny Laila Bruset. A brief affair years earlier ended with Laila’s broken heart, and the two never thought they would meet again. Fast forward to present day, Norwegian born Laila Bruset is the nanny to Crown Prince Magnus and Princess Ella’s children, a position that brings her up close and personal with Magnus’ new security James Hunter, the man who broke her heart. James is hoping to rekindle their relationship if only as friends but Laila is struggling with betrayal from the past. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between our story line couple, a rebuild helped by the Crown Prince and his wife.

The world building focuses on past sins and betrayal; previous royal employment; a rambunctious young prince whose antics often threaten the safety of our story line couple; and of one woman’s struggle to let go of the past.

The relationship between Laila and James is one of second chances. James broken Laila’s heart, having kept his own life a secret from our story line heroine, a woman who had fallen for a man who could not fall in return. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my romance story line.

We are reintroduced to Crown Prince Magnus, and his wife Princess Ella; their children Bjorn and Tor; driver Ottar; Ella’s personal assistant Lady Jane, as well as Laila’s ailing grandmother.

THE ROYALS UPSTAIRS is a story of second chances; of secrets and lies; family and loss; relationships and love. The premise is emotional and engaging;the romance is provocative and seductive; the characters are determined and dynamic.

The isle draws many to its magical shores. It drew him. Imposing, bold, and handsome. We fell hard and fast that summer. Then he left with the tide to the city.

A Druid with a secret past. A man looking for a second chance.

•••••

REVIEW:STILL OF THE NIGHT is the fifth instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult SKYE DRUIDS paranormal, fantasy romance series -a spin off from the author’s REAPER series which in turn is a spin off from the author’s many interconnected series and stories. This is Druid Ariah, and attorney Killian Flanaghan’s story line. STILL OF THE NIGHT should not be read as a stand alone- I recommend reading the series in order, as well as DARK ALPHA’S COMMAND (Reaper 15) for back story and cohesion as many of the events of the current time line are as of a direct result of the events in Dark Alpha’s Command. Several characters from the other series including Reaper Balladyn and Druid Rhona (Dark Alpha’s Command)appear as secondary characters.

SOME BACKGROUND: Months earlier, betrayal and vengeance forced a take-over of power on the Isle of Skye but someone or something is killing the Druids, not only on the Isle of Skye, but around the world including Edinburgh Scotland. With the focus on the death of the Druids on the Isle of Skye, Balladyn and Rhona (Dark Alpha’s Command/Reaper 15) begin an investigation that reveals a danger targeting the Druids and the MacLean family, in particular.

Told from several omniscient third person perspectives including Ariah and Killian STILL OF THE NIGHT follows several paths including the second chance relationship between our story line couple. Approximately ten years earlier, Ariah and Killian were sweethearts but Killian’s family had plans for his future, and Ariah refused to leave the Isle of Skye. Fast forward to present day, Killian returns to Skye in search of the woman he has always loved but someone is targeting our story line hero, and Ariah must come to terms what is happening and why. A bombing, a dark and evil entity, a car accident, and an abduction find Killian struggling to survive but Killian is human, and begins to question the happenings and the people on the Isle of Skye.

The world building is complex and intricate focusing on the shadow, an evil entity that is taking aim at the Druids of Skye. There is more than one person on the hunt for power, and some believe the ancients are directing the fight for control.

The relationship between Ariah and Killian is once of second chances; a rekindling romance in the face of Killian’s need to reconnect but Ariah is no longer the woman Killian once knew, and in this, Killian is about to come face to face with magic, mayhem, murder and mists. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Druids, Reapers, Esther The TruthSeeker and Henry the JusticeBringer, Elodie and Scott, Edie and Trevor; Rhona and Balladyn; Mason, Krisi, and Callum. The requisite evil has many faces.

STILL OF THE NIGHT is a story of power and control, secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, jealousy and madness, forgiveness and love. The character driven premise is detailed, intriguing and multi-layered; the romance is provocative; the characters are powerful, determined and dynamic.

King (Pittsburgh Titans 14) by Sawyer Bennett-review tour

King (Pittsburgh Titans 14) by Sawyer Bennett-review tour

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 10, 2024

Jack Kingston is known for his dominant playing skills on the ice, but off, he’s a down-to-earth guy who values a true connection over a meaningless hookup.

I love being a member of the Pittsburgh Titans, even if my teammates are constantly ribbing me about women who they claim are throwing themselves all over me. Could I go for the easy lay? Sure, but that’s not my style. I’m more of long-term kind of guy. Instead, I’m going to keep doing what I do best—killing it out on the ice. Everything else will fall into place…eventually.

That time comes sooner than expected, in the most unlikely of ways. At the rink to watch our goalie’s kids play Peewee hockey, I meet Willa Montreaux and somehow, by the end of that interaction, I’ve offered to help her coach the Ice Pups. Altruism or were there other intentions in that offer? A little of both, if I’m being honest.

As the time I spend with Willa increases, I am absolutely certain I want even more. She’s gorgeous, sure, but that’s superficial. Willa is also funny, loving, determined and smart. SO smart. Doctor smart. Probably too intelligent for a jock like me, but that’s not going to stop me from shooting my shot.

Not looking for anything more than a fling and concerned that she’s too old for me, Willa doesn’t want to venture into anything serious. I’m willing to put in the work and give her the space she needs to come to terms with the fact that the connection we have is far more than physical. Willa and I are end game, but I’m willing to play into overtime if that’s what it takes to walk away with her by my side.

REVIEW: KING is the fourteenth instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult PITTSBURGH TITANS erotic, hockey romance series. This is twenty-five year old, defenseman Jack ‘King’ Kingston, and thirty-three year old former figure skater turned physician Dr. Willa Montreaux’ story line. KING can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Willa and King) KING follows the building romance and relationship between our story line couple. Willa Montreaux never expected to find herself coaching her niece’s little league hockey tea but when the previous coach quit, Willa was volunteered by her sister for the job. Meeting Pittsburgh Titans’ defenseman Jack Kingston was an added bonus when he volunteered himself as assistant coach but Jack is hoping for something more, and Willa struggles with their age different, and demons from the past. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Jack and Willa, and the potential fall-out when the past returns demanding a second change.

The world building focuses on the trials and tribulations of little league hockey, and the aggressive parents pushing their kids too hard. We are up close and personal with the demons from Willa’s past, and the return of Jack’s ex pushes Willa out of his life.

The relationship between Willa and Jack begins as co-coaches and friends. Hoping to take their relationship to the next level, Jack begins a slow seduction of our story line heroine but Willa has been burned, and Jack’s past refuses to let go. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including team owner Brienne Norcross and her fiancé Drake McGinn, Brienne’s cousin Tansy Carmichael, several players including Rafferty Abrams, Penn Navarro, Bain and Keira, Stone Dumelin. We are introduced to Willa’s sister Brittany’s and her daughter Izzy, as well as Willa’s ex Scott, and Jack’s ex Emily.

KING is a story of secrets and lies, family and relationships, friendships and love. The premise is honest and animated; the age-gap romance is spicy; the characters are sassy and lively.

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released more than 30 books and has been featured on both the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists on multiple occasions.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 30, 2024

He thought he would never love again… Then he fell for the lass he must give up to save his clan.

Desperate to keep his children and clan from starving, Laird Alasdair MacLachlan joins the ranks of mercenaries searching for the missing lass of a powerful clan. The mission seems simple—find the lass, return her to her family, and claim the hefty reward. But when fate throws bow and arrow wielding Sorcha MacGregor in his path, he’s about to discover how complicated one mule-headed, beguiling beauty can make things. For a man who has lost and loved and has no interest in doing either ever again, he’s confounded by the desire the opinionated woman awakens in him, and he’s shocked to discover his heart might not be permanently frozen after all. But his duty to his family and clan must come before all else, and that means sticking to the plan. Or is that just an excuse to avoid burying his painful past and taking a risk on a new future? One thing is certain—if he doesn’t figure it out soon, Sorcha will be lost to him forever.

Life has taught Sorcha MacGregor that only a harebrained fool would wish to wed and become a man’s chattel to control. So when she’s kidnapped by a Highlander who intends to deliver her like a trussed pig to a family she’s never known, she instantly decides he’s a selfish barbarian like all other men. Her opinion becomes harder to maintain, though, when the devilishly handsome warrior risks his life for hers. Still, she has no intention of lowering her well-placed guard and making herself vulnerable. But with each act of kindness Alasdair shows her, every moving interaction between him and his children, and the simmering way he looks at her, not to mention the toe-curling kisses, she comes to see the gentle, brokenhearted man behind the hardened exterior, and she does the one thing she swore she’d never do: falls in love. When the time comes for Alasdair to make the ultimate sacrifice for her, for love, will he prove he’s really the man of her dreams or just a fantasy that is too good to be true?

REVIEW: Although second book in the series, and a slight continuation from book one, this book can be read without reading the first one.

With this author you can be assured of a great story. Set in beautifully written backdrops, this historical romance will have you on the edge of your seat with the drama/suspense and romance.

Widower Laird Alasdair MacLachlan is at his wits end! His clan is starving! He sees no other option than to join a band of mercenaries ordered to find a missing woman of another clan. The reward will feed his clan. Sorcha is sick and tired of her life! Her mother 💀 leaving her and her sister to a father who likes to drink and use his fists! Entering a competition will ensure both her future and her sister a dowry to marry the man she loves.

The thing I love the most about this author’s storytelling is her attention to detail. The sights and sounds of the highland can transport you there. Both Alistair and Sorcha have no intentions of marrying, his heart is hardened after losing his wife to childbirth, and she has seen what marriage can do to a woman. But as they spend more and more time together, it brings the best out in both of them, they also see a side to one another that makes them stop and think!

So will Alistair do the right thing? Will he hand over the woman who has made him see the good around him? To become a better father to his own children. Or will he take this opportunity of happiness?

Author Julie Johnstone first fell in love with romance fifteen years ago when she picked up her first romance novel in an airport gift shop on the way to Conroe, Texas for a family reunion and spent her whole weekend reading rather than water skiing, which up until then was one of her favorite things to do.

Julie is staying up way too late and typing furiously on her keyboard to finish her next book or blog with her fellow authors at Ladyscribes. Julie is married to an amazing lawyer and when she is not running her two precocious children to one activity or another she is trying to seek out some time to stay in shape and see her dearest friends.

REVIEW: GRAYSON is the fourth instalment in Eve Riley’s contemporary, adult JASPER SPRINGS erotic, MM, LGBTQ+ romance series. This is thirty-one year old, bar waiter Henry Markell, and bridal store consultant Grayson Sanderson’s story line. GRAYSON can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

NOTE: GRAYSON is a story line with a same sex couple.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Grayson and Henry) GRAYSON follows the building relationship between our story line couple. Grayson Sanderson’s sister is getting married, and our hero is obligated to participate in the bridal party festivities but Grayson feels like the black sheep of the family, with no prospects for a future with a significant other or children. Meeting waiter Henry Markell stirs something within Grayson Sanderson, something he had been looking for a very long time but Henry is a little reluctant in the face of past betrayal and heart break, and as such time spent together on a weekend getaway for the bridal party meant the possibility of something more. What ensues is the building but ‘secret’ relationship between Henry and Grayson, and the potential fall-out as Henry pushes Grayson out of his life.

The world building focuses on the building relationship, a forced proximity in the face of a shortage of ‘room’ at the inn. Grayson is a bit of a snob, and in this, Henry believes he isn’t worthy but Grayson’s snobbery hides a heart that is looking for love, a heart that is easily scarred by someone he loves.

The relationship between Grayson and Henry begins as friends when Henry rescues Grayson following a night of heavy drinking. Grayson sees something in Henry that Henry doesn’t see himself, and in this, Grayson’s attempts at seduction threatens Henry’s insecurities and the heart break from the past. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and interesting secondary and supporting characters including Grayson’s sister Giselle and her fiancé Aaron, as well as Henry’s sister Mia, and a cameo or two from some of the previous story line characters.

GRAYSON is a story of attraction and need, acceptance and love. The premise is honest and real; the romance is seductive -a lust to love affair- but I struggles to feel the palpable sexual attraction; the characters are sensitive and spirited.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 5, 2024

She’s a fighter, but I’m a criminal who will do whatever it takes to steal her heart.

Gemma
I rose from the ashes of my childhood like a phoenix, and never looked back.
The last thing I need is the cocky bad boy of the Monaghan family barging in and turning my carefully constructed life into chaos.
He’s everything I shouldn’t want, nothing I was prepared for, and the only thing I crave.
But his world is dangerous, and that’s a complication I left in my rear-view years ago.
I’m determined to keep him out of my heart, even if I can’t seem to keep him out of my bed.
But when the last person I ever expected to meet comes knocking on my door, Eoghan Monaghan is the only one with the power to free me from the dangerous ghost who threatens to burn down my new life.

Eoghan
The last thing I need is this inconvenient obsession with the tough as nails enchantress who also happens to be my new sister-in-law’s best friend.
But here we are.
She wants to believe we would be a catastrophic mistake, yet every time her piercing gaze turns in my direction, the sultry fire in her eyes tells me she wants this as much as I do.
Only something is holding her back.
Good thing I’m determined to break down the walls she’s meticulously erected around herself, even if she fights me tooth and nail every step of the way.
When a treacherous enemy of my family forces himself into her life, the only chance any of us have for survival is for my beautifully obstinate woman to finally let her guard down and do the one thing she swore she never would…
Trust me.

REVIEW:It’s Mafia Time Baby!! Eoghan is the next installment of the Boston Syndicate series, and oh what a charmer he is. As always, it is recommended to read the books in series in order to get the most out of the book, but it can be read as a standalone should one choose too. Check your trigger warnings friends; while Eoghan isn’t a dark romance, it does have some violence as its mafia based.

This tasty morsel focuses on Gemma and Eoghan’s story. We get introduced to them in previous books, but get their full, drama-filled, spicy story in this book. The couple meet through a mutual friend (Alessia), and Eoghan is Gemma-hooked from the start, but is shocked when she doesn’t fall at his feet. Eoghan is known to charm women right out of their panties, but not our girl Gemma. Gemma makes him work for her, she’s been hurt in the past and isn’t too sure about getting into a relationship with the ladies man, no matter how attractive he is.

Eoghan gives chase to Gemma and during their “courtship” if you will, Gemma learns just how protective and obsessive he can be. Not to mention the best kind of morally gray, I mean come on, he’s in the freaking mafia. The chase between these two makes up the majority of the story, the plot is quick and easy to keep up with while engaging the reader with anticipation. As always with our lovely author, the spice is just “chefs kiss” perfect, the build up to the spicy bits with the characters is made even better by their chase, and by the end, I’m left asking for more and more.
