First, I want to thank the peeps at the Reading Café for having me here today. Second, I want to make sure y’all keep reading until the end to find out about some freebies! Woot! I love free books, so I’m passing on the fun. Okay, now for the excitement.
Who all here loves books in a series? Show of hands, people. Umm, yeah, my hands high up in the air. I don’t know what it is about books in a series that draw me in, but I am a sucker for them. When reading one book and future characters are hinted at, I can’t wait to get to their book. But then when I’m on their book and more characters are introduced or elaborated on, I’m salivating to get to the even newer book that highlights those characters. Sometimes, I feel like I rush through the series like an addict needing my next fix and not enjoying the “fix” I’m currently getting. How about you? Is this something you do, too?
I’ve tried to slow down, take my time, savior the stories, but that doesn’t always work. With me also being a writer, much of my time is spent tapping away on my keyboard. When I have a good book that I want to get back to reading, sometimes it’s my reward for meeting a daily word count or reaching some other job related goal. Do I see myself ever slowing down completely when it comes to reading books in a series? Nope. Not unless there’s some support group for reader-aholics. But there’s always a bright side to me rushing through books…I read so many that I don’t remember what happens in them. So when I re-read them down the road, it feels like they are books I haven’t read before. Silver lining. *smiles*

Great post, Mandy. I totally agree with you. I love series, where we continue to see the characters that we come to love. Another reason I adore the In Death series with Eve & Roarke and fabulous recurring characters. I also love so many other series with recurring characters like Nalini’s psy/changling or Nora’s trilogies, just to name a few. Your series looks good, I will check into them.
Hey Mandy sweet post, I have to say I know what your talking about when your done a book and you move onto the next and you forgot what the last one was about ,It’s good to hear that i’m not the only one lol . And yes I Love a series you get too know then in the book and wonder when there’s is coming out. . Great post Mandy and welcome to TRC. I too live a good series over a stand alone book. Always have always will. I love being able to follow characters and storylines along over a series of time and watch the journey/adventure unfold.
Hi Mandy. Your series sounds great. Beautiful covers and I always love shifter stories. I can’t choose one hero but I like Wrath and Zadist from the Brotherhood. All the McReive men from IAD series and my beloved twisted Lothaire. The Dark Ones from the Carpathian Dark series. Lucian from Lynsay Sands vampire series. There are so many but I’ll stop here. lol
