ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 14, 2013
Reclusive millionaire Garth Joseph Smits Simmons wants to be loved for himself, not his bankbook or the prestige that being married to him would carry. Shunning publicity and gold-diggers, he’s spent the last few years wearing one disguise or another to protect his identity. When beautiful, talented special events coordinator Eleni Baxter walks into his life, he’s determined to find a way to make her fall in love with him without revealing his true identity.
Avoiding relationships because of her twin sister’s heartbreak, Eleni has thrown herself into her wedding and party fantasy firm, Holiday Magic. When her design for a Halloween Extravaganza wins a contract as exclusive special events coordinator for the Ocean Front Casino Resort, she sees it as her ticket to the big times. What adds to the contract’s appeal is her attraction to handsome casino manager Joe Smits. Can a relationship built on deceit succeed?
REVIEW:
The Perfect Choice (Book 2 of Holiday Magic series) is Eleni and Joe’s story. I had the privilege of reviewing Holiday Magic (Georgia and Mark’s story) and totally fell in love with the characters and everything in the story.
Susanne Matthews has written another wonderful love story and I can’t even tell you how compelling it was…well…I couldn’t put it down, so was up til the wee hours of the morning; maybe that gives you some idea!
Eleni is a great character, lovely and very intelligent, she wants to be successful with her designs and wants other to see she’s not just another pretty face that can plan a party. Her imaginative designs for events go beyond the norm. She is given an opportunity by the Dean of Moore College of Arts and Design, the college to which she was an alumna, to design an original Halloween Charity Event for the Ocean Front Casino.
She had just taken her drawings of her ideas to the dean and was on her way home when she met Joe, who was listening to a street jazz musician (one of her personal favorites). He was wearing an old rock-tee and torn jeans, really pretty scruffy looking and she thought he was a down and out young man. Being Eleni (friendly and open) she showed him where he could get a free/cheap meal (this is more involved, but I don’t want to spoil your reading experience). The attraction was mutual on both their parts and quite unusual!
So, of course Joe turns out to b Garth Joe Smits Simmons, the owner of the Ocean Front Casino and so much more…he’s actually umber rich (the part of the story is interesting as well). He doesn’t get a chance to learn her whole name only that her sister is named Georgia and owns a jewelry design store in New York. In the meantime, he sees her designs scanned and sent to him by the dean and falls in love with the ideas and sends a contract for E. Baxter to the dean.
Meanwhile he intends to hunt for the lovely blonde he just met. So imagine his surprise when he looks up E. Baxter in the college database and finds Eleni!
That’s the setup; I’m not going to get into the complications of this fantastic relationship..that would just give too much away. Just let me tell you this is a very well written and unusual love story. The timeline runs parallel with Holiday Magic, and we get to see some of what happened with Georgia from another point of view.
The Perfect Choice is a fast-paced, intelligent and incredibly fun read and well titled. I absolutely hated for it to end, but I did need to go to bed…ah, sleep is over rated anyway! I so look forward to more fun, thrilling stories from Suzanne Matthews. Enjoy everyone, I did!
